MI verdad #73 part 1
*Mateo came back because he forgot his cellphone. He asks again what are you doing in here and Ximena spills her guts, what did you do with the photos you took without my permission, the morning after pills to make me lose my baby and what about that woman that looks like me, you bastard. I entered because I heard the police questioned you at your office. It gave me the courage to also report you to the police. You are going to pay for everything you did to me.
*Luciano wonders why would Larisa order to DNA tests?
*Mateo tells her I'll kill you first before I let you tell anyone.
*Juanjo talks with Laura on the phone. Nothing came up on the blood test of course. She's going to cancel her gym membership so she won't be around him. Juanjo advises her to talk to the owner and explain what he did. He will be kicked out. He also advised her not to let it ruin her life, but investigate anyone before you date him in the future. She swears she will and she's so mad she was so naive. Juanjo says Iñigo is a “bravo con piel de oveja”. I'd compare it to a wolf in sheep's clothing.
*Ximena can't shut up. Mateo says it's your word against mine. She goes to leave and he tells her you're not going anywhere as he shuts the secret door with him in there with her.
*Smart Luciano goes to the hospital to get a copy of the DNA report under his name. Damn Larisa. She lied to me, he thinks as he reads the report. Thank you he says as he walks away. The receptionist calls Karime to tell her the guy got the copy of the DNA report and he is furious.
*Ximena screams let go of me as Mateo tells shut up. They don't show her as she is on the ground behind the desk and he appears to be strangling her. Small mercies we didn't have to actually witness this, I guess. He backs off and slumps down the corner of the room in horror and bangs his head against the wall.
*Ceci and Nuria discuss Iñigo and the custody agreement. Finding out about their dad Nuria hopes will not happen until they are older. Ceci's phone digs with a notification. It's a social media post, Belinda and Gael are in a relationship. Ceci is sad as Nuria comforts her.
*Mateo looks shell shocked as he exits his room of horror. He walks to the table where Ximena left her purse and pulls out a compact mirror to look at the scratches she left on his neck. Ah, that piece of paper from yesterday was a bus ticket.
*Karime sends Aitana a text that Luciano got the true results and left in a rage. She thanks Karime. He may be sad but it's better to know the truth.
*Luciano visits Larisa. She's glad to see him until he rages at her about not being the dad and her lying to him. She still insists he is, but he throws the fact she had 2 paternity tests done the same day in her face.
*Zac bows to Adolfo’s expertise in the charging of Mateo and he thinks they have a good case against him. Zac wants him to pay for what he did.
*Back to Larisa. Luciano says I don't know who your mystery guy is, but he's the baby daddy. Luciano tells her she's just like her dad and he never wants to see her again. Luciano, I love you, yes I lied but I don't want to lose you. He throws her hands off of him as she keeps grabbing him and says this is not love! Stay away from me and my family. She cries as he walks out the door.
*Mateo is at the bus station in a black hoody and PPE mask (nobody blinks at that anymore thanks to COVID).

Micaela and Miriam discuss Ximena. Mica is so glad she has finally opened her eyes to the man Mateo is. She can't wait until she comes.

Mateo puts Ximena's cellphone in her suitcase which he has brought to the bus station and loads it in the luggage compartment and gets on the bus.
*Miriam and Mica trash talk Mateo and Miriam says he doesn't deserve to even be forgiven by God. Mica hopes she brought charges against him. Maybe Adolfo can help her.
*Mateo relives the screaming of Ximena. He gets off the bus, removes his disguise and throws them in the trash. He then hails a taxi.

 

Mi verdad #73 part 2

Aitana is with Eloisa in the garden. Eloisa only has a couple of more radiation treatments and she's done. She will be cancer free and can celebrate. Eloisa is in no mood to party. Mateo is in trouble, Bruno is gone. Aitana asks about Bruno leaving to try and get info from Eloisa. She calls him an ingrate.

Larisa wonders why he contacted the lab? What rotten luck. She swigs some wine down. She makes a call, she wants info on getting an abortion. No, I'm more than 12 weeks along but the baby has a congenital defect and I don't want him.

Aitana gets a few tidbits of information about Bruno's leaving, in particular about the cowardly letter he wrote her. But she wants to change the subject as it's too upsetting. See Luciano about your severance pay, since I'm only a couple of treatments away from being done, I can dispense of your services. This Aitana is in agreement about ( I was surprised they have been so cordial). With EV that's gone on its best I no longer work for you. Eloisa nods in agreement.

Mateo returns to the empty apartment. He's cleaned the breakfast dishes from the table. He goes to the dark room and stares at the vacant board in which the photos used to hang.

Iñigo joins mom, Belinda and Aitana in the garden. It's family announcement time. Luciano has called them all together (though Mateo is AWOL) he only wants to tell this once. I'm not the father of Larisa’s baby. Eloisa cries that's why I wanted you to get the proof. Luciano feels like a fool, Iñigo has a smirk on his face and nods in agreement.

Mateo is still in the darkroom as he sits in the corner again agonizing over what he's done.

Belinda tells dad, we are your family and we love you and we are here for you. Iñigo asks do you know who the father is? Luciano says I don't care, it's not important to me. Eloisa is so glad he found out before giving her baby his name. Iñigo starts making comments that he has disappointed Mom by not providing the wished for grandson.

Mateo scrubs himself raw in the shower.


Eloisa is going to make sure both Larisa and her father will pay. Luciano is just glad she's out of his life for good. Iñigo, we have things to discuss.

The brothers walk to the study. Luciano tells him I know what you did to Juanjo's ex. If you don't want to end up in jail and kill mom in the process you better destroy those photos. Iñigo says quit interfering in my life. I'm interfering because I care about my nieces. Iñigo says what if Nuria lied. Luciano says I do not believe you. Iñigo is indignant that his brother believes a liar and not him. Luciano persists, you belong in jail and I care nothing for you.

Sweet scene with Belinda and Luciano about the baby that isn't his as Aitana listens around the corner and smiles.

Iñigo calls Nuria complaining that she told Luciano and threatens her. She says don't threaten me, sign the decree or I'll accuse you of rape. Fine, he says, you win. He's not sure how to explain it to the girls though. Nuria says leave it to me. Iñigo tells her to have her boyfriend send the papers for him to sign ( is he plotting something?)

Mateo arrives at the hacienda wearing a higher necked polo shirt. He walks in with a hang dog look on his face. Ximena left me. He nearly cries.

Iñigo visits a drunk Larisa. Think of the baby, who must be mine. I'm not having it, she says. Iñigo says think this is the first Lizarrága grandson. Larisa repeats that this baby will not be born.

Mateo says I got home and all her things were gone, no note or anything. I'm devastated he mewls as he bats his pleading eyes at Mama who comforts him.


 

Mi verdad #73 part 3

Larisa isn't sure what's wrong with the baby but without Luciano she has no interest in having him.

Eloisa trash talks Ximena. Belinda is disgusted and leaves the dinner table then Eloisa sneers about Gael’s low class rubbing off on Belinda. Luciano tries to reason with Eloisa which causes Mateo to stick up for Eloisa. Don't talk to Mama like that, he demands as he smacks the table with his fist. Luciano sticks up for the Castillos and Belinda as Eloisa claims I only spoke the truth as she literally sticks her nose up in the air in her imagined superiority.

Iñigo takes the wine from Larisa.. Don't make such a sudden decision. First we need to figure out what is wrong with the baby. This baby is a Lizarrága. Your mother disinherited you. This baby is proof of our betrayal of Luciano. I've decided this baby will not be born.

Luciano tells Aitana she can be excused as she's affected by the vitriol coming out of Eloisa's mouth. Mom, you really should think before you speak, your words are hurtful and I'm ashamed to be your son.

Luciano catches up with Aitana in the hell and apologizes for what his mother said. I guess Eloisa also denigrated Belinda's parentage in her spiel I didn't totally follow. Aitana hurts for her daughter. Even if my family is poor, we are much better than yours. She thanks him for defending her, her daughter and Ximena.

Mateo and Eloisa are now alone at the table. They discuss Ximena. He really loved her. He mentions how alike she was to Gabriela and went the same way. Eloisa says you didn't do something stupid did you. No, but she left me and didn't want to stay with me just like Gabriela.

Luciano tells Aitana this is the time to tell Belinda the truth. I'll do it with you this weekend. I'm no longer tied to Larisa, but Belinda binds us together forever. She couldn't be in better hands than yours. Aitana thanks him and they hug.

In Mexico city Ximena hasn't arrived and Micaela just keeps getting her voicemail and they are worried.

Aitana also leaves her a voicemail. She's glad she got away from Mateo. Belinda knocks on her door. You and I are invited to dinner with Clem and family tonight.( I guess the earlier meal was not dinner).

Mateo tries to figure out who tipped the police and Ximena off about him knowing Gabriela.

Micaela calls Aitana who is outside with Zac. Ximena never showed up, wasn't answering her phone or checking her messages. Zac goes to Matlan to see if she had an accident somewhere but no. He spoke with Sergio, the detective on Gabriela's case and he is assisting in the search for her. They will try to ping her phone to find her location but that won't be found until tomorrow.

Mateo's long face is at the breakfast table with Eloisa. He hates being alone in the apartment. That's why I suggested you move back here. Luciano comes in and complains that Belinda had a bad night because of Eloisa's words the night before. Micaela enters. She demands to know what Mateo did to Ximena; she never arrived in Mexico City.

Luciano is like a dog with a bone in his search for the truth. It is only a matter of time before he has the complete picture of his family’s activities.

Yay! For Nuria threatening Iñigo with filing a rape charge against him. She is finally playing hardball. I never thought it would happen.

Mateo seems to be disintegrating before our very eyes. What is he going to do with Ximena’s body? It will not go unnoticed for long.

You outdid yourself with this one Kat. Super job on this suspenseful episode, thanks!

Ximena. Really relieved to be spared the visual. Hope Ximena’s patching things up with Micaela will provide some small comfort to Micaela. It seemed to mean a lot to her. Mateo will probably seek Mama’s counsel about how to dispose of her body. They already think they’ve succeeded with Gabriela!

When Mateo boohooed to Mama about being alone, she answered with this saying: “better alone than with a bad companion” (mejor sola que mal acompañada).

Yes, when Eloisa goes off on her classist rants, she puts it all out there. She went from trashing Gael and saying his low class had rubbed off on Belinda to insulting Belinda’s background because of her biomom, that’s when Luciano scooted Aitana out of the room, “you don’t need to hear this.”

As for Iñigo’s agreeing to sign the divorce papers, maybe it has to do with Larisa’s baby? He sees possible financial gain with a male Lizárraga grandchild, telling Larisa Eloisa would set up a trust for him, and would never turn her back on Lizárraga blood.

***. Two hours tonight. Mi Rival ended last night.

Kat, oh my , thanks for recapping this depressing episode .

Foolish, foolish Ximena confronting BSC Mateo even after learning how evil and crazy he was . A tragic ending for a tragic figure who refused all the warnings she was given . I hope Michaela raises the roof and shares everything she knows with Luciano as he puts the puzzle pieces together.

There is no way the writers can Let Mateo survive . He is consumed by his own evil .
Inigo is as pompous and overly confident as ever. He thinks that be can do anything he wants and get away with it . I think it is prison for him and being on the receiving end of the abuse that he has doled out with no remorse since the beginning of this tale . I am ready for this show to end and move on to a new story. Hopefully by the finale , good will triumph over evil . Good must always will over evil . Always . Susan
