Episode 55 #1 of 9
“Unexpected Support”
Pelin and Serter are discussing Ferit. Pelin tells Serter she thinks he did something to Ferit. She says Ferit didn’t say anything clearly, and she still doesn’t know what to think. He tells her they didn’t do anything, but that he regrets not teaching him a lesson now. She reminds him he promised not to hurt him. He hugs her and repeats his promise not to do anything to upset her. She tells him she appreciates it. She tells him it’s his turn to cook and she hopes his omelet will agree with her. He grins. He goes to wash his hands. His expression noticeably changes when he leaves her. Now he looks very serious. While in the bathroom, he turns on the tap and makes a call. He tells his uncle that that idiot has to learn. Uh oh! Looks like Serter isn’t a good guy.
Abidin is driving but spends much of the time exchanging looks of love with Suna in the back seat. They need to be careful because Kazim is sitting next to Suna. Abidin’s red bracelet can be seen. Kazim asks him what it is. Abidin tells him it is a bracelet. Kazim says it’s just a strand, not a bracelet. He laughs at this. Kazim says to Suna that life is so silly: Abidin works for this country’s jewelry kingpin, and he uses a thread on his wrist.
Abidin tells him the bracelet is worth more than jewelry. Kazim says that OK. He tells him not to be offended, that he’s just kidding.
Suddenly they are cut off by a car blocking their path. It’s Serter’s uncle.
Abidin tells Kazim: I’ll handle this, my patriarch.
Abidin asks the uncle: What do you want?
Uncle: Do you want to know what could happen, or if you should start begging, cat? (He gestures to the car). Where is the prince?
Abidin looks down, silently.
Uncle yells: I asked you a question.
Watching from the car, Suna tells Kazim he needs to help. But Kazim hushes her. He tells her to be calm and not to leave the car. Kazim gets out.
Kazim: What’s happening? Are you a criminal? Why are you blocking us?
Uncle to Abidin: And that idiot?
Kazim: It’s best if you address me respectfully.
Uncle: It’s fine, brother, go back to your car.
Kazim: Put your hand down. And I’m not your brother. Abidin, who is this? What does he want?
Abidin: My Patriarch, I’m sure he’s mistaken us for someone else.
Uncle starts laughing: It seems that in Istanbul there’s a lot of men calling themselves the great patriarchs.
Kazim: It seems you’ve lost your mind. Listen to me well. I’m a busy man, so don’t make me waste my time and leave right now!
Kazim raises his voice and all Uncle’s henchies run to join them.
Uncle tells the patriarch to shut up.
Suna gets out of the car, yelling for her father.
Kazim tells her to get back in. Uncle recognizes her.
There is sort of a stand-off, and then uncle says they need to be leaving: Let’s go now!
Kazim tells Suna to get in and joins her in the car. Abidin and Uncle are staring at one another.
Uncle whispers to Abidin: Listen, Thank Allah that girl is with you, which is why nothing happened to you. It’s because of her that you won’t end up in the news as a casualty.
Abidin is very impactado. Uncle continues: Tell that idiot to be careful…
Kazim is back out of the car, walking toward them.
Uncle continues: …because if I see him again, we won’t care if his daughter sees us.
Uncle gets in his car and they drive off. Abidin sighs audibly.

Episode 55 #2 of 9
Kazim: Look at that idiot, with his bad attitude. I’ll take a photo of the license plate, OK?
Abidin: Listen, my patriarch. They didn’t see the signal. They had to show down, but they didn’t notice. Sometimes this happens in Istanbul. You can find crazies like that.
Kazim: Abidin, why did you stay quiet? That’s the only way those bastards understand, son. You have to yell at them. Get back in the car. Go on, get in. That crazy idiot.
Abidin and Suna exchange looks as he goes to get in the car.
Kazim: Enter, Abidin. Relax.
Kazim tells Suna it’s over.
At the yali, Orhan is sitting on a sofa in the living room. He asks himself where that man might be.
Gulgun: If it was up to me, he’d never arrive. We have enough problems.
Ifakat: It’s necessary. I don’t think he wants Seyran showing herself off and working in that sort of environment.
Asuman: He’s unpredictable. I remember him challenging Grandfather in his own house at dinner.
Ifakat: But he needed to be scolded. That put him in his place.
Orhan: Maybe he understood his place on a million-dollar plot of land.
Gulgun grins ruefully at this.
Orhan: So, we can’t assume what stance to take with Kazim right now.
Carlos enters and tells Orhan that Abidin just arrived.
Gulgun: You’ll have to excuse me, but I don’t want to deal with that man right now. I’d rather go to my room.
Asuman asks permission to join her mother-in-law.
Irakat nods and Gulgun and Asuman leave. Orhan stands to receive the visitor.
Outside, Abidin opens the door for Kazim. Kazim says he can’t believe it took so long, but they finally got there.
Kazim: Look at me. I’m still shaking with courage.
Abidin: At least we’re here. Lots of tense people today. Kazim tells Abidin to stay calm, it’s over. He tells him they are just maniacs. It’s best you relax and carry on. If you see them again, I’d advise you not to say anything or there could be a tragedy. (If Kazim only knew what a close call he had!). We came out unscathed.
Abidin thanks him.
Kazim goes into the yali followed by Suna.
Abidin looks pretty shaken up.
Kazim and Suna enter the yali. Orhan greets him. They shake hands. Orhan tells him he arrived a little late. Kazim tells him he already knows Istanbul. People talk and talk. It drives me nuts.
Ifakat laughs and tells Suna to follow her. Kazim agrees. He tells her to walk like she’s in her own home, like a garden flower.
Orhan invites Kazim to have a seat.
Ifakat and Suna are walking up the stairs and Seyran and Ferit are coming down from their attic.
They meet at the landing.
Ferit’s face is a stormcloud.
Seyran: Welcome, sister.
Ifakat: Is everything OK? How are you, Ferit?
Ferit: I’ll be good soon, Aunt.
Ifakat tells Suna that she’ll be waiting in her room. Ferit asks Suna how she is. She replies well and asks about him.
Ferit: Ask your sister. By the way, you haven’t the slightest idea what my aunt has in her head. Be careful with what she tells you or what she wants you to do for her, OK?
Suna: Yeah, that’s OK.
Ferit turns and walks down the stairs. She asks Seyran what he meant. Seyran tells her she doesn’t know what is going on in his head, but he’s right that she should be careful with Ifakat.
Seyran: What did Dad say? How is he?

Episode 55 # 3 of 9
Suna: He’s fine, but there was an incident on the way here.
Seyran: What happened?
Suna: A typical traffic argument. Some guys cut us off. They got out, then Abidin, then Dad, and they started arguing.
Seyran: What bad luck? He’s upset, right?
Suna: No. He still wants to support you and he’s in a good mood.
Seyran: I hope so. Go with her so she doesn’t get upset.
Suna goes to Ifakat’s room and Seyran goes downstairs.
Kazim is on a sofa fingering his beads and looking very pleased with himself. He orders a coffee, very strong and bitter, a double, from Carlos. Ferit and Seyran walk in to join Kazim and Orhan. Ferit welcomes Kazim and gives him the kiss of respect. Seyran does the same. As she goes to sit down, he tells her not to and for her to leave them alone: The men need to talk.
She asks to stay, even though Ferit indicates she should leave. Kazim tells her it’s not necessary: It’s man talk.
Ferit grins watching Seyran’s annoyed reaction.
Kazim: Daughter, don’t worry. Your Dad is here. I will only defend your interests, so let us talk. Go out in the garden. Go on!
She thanks him and goes outside.
Orhan: Whenever you’d like, Mr. Kazim. You said you wanted to talk, so go ahead. What is the problem?
Kazim: Problem? Your son knows the problem very well. He called me last night upset because he disagrees with my daughter.
Orhan: About the marketing?
Kazim: Yes, the marketing. Yesterday, Ferit told me he doesn’t want her to, but my daughter already told me. That’s why I came to you. So, I’ll hear you out. Why don’t you want her to? What problem would it cause?
Orhan: Honestly, I don’t want her to accept it either. I think it’s totally unnecessary for a member of this family to expose themselves like that. (Kazim’s eyebrows lift here.) Anyway, we don’t need any money earned from such exposure.
Kazim: Tell me, what’s so bad about it? That people will see her? The whole press knows the entire family. Does she embarrass you, or is there a problem with her accepting the job?
Orhan: She doesn’t embarrass us at all. But you know people always talk. That’s a fact. They’ll find some detail to hurt us, so I’d like to avoid those problems.
Kazim scoffs: What nonsense! Do you suddenly want us to forget everything that Ferit does, with his drunken partying? Because I’ll remind you that people talk about that. The press has covered it too. That’s embarrassing. This boy exposes himself at every party.
Ferit: Mr. Kazim, we’re not talking about me. It’s about Seyran. She’s not used to all that. I know you raised her very well but imagine. All those cameras, photographers, people screaming in the street. It’s very invasive. How would she react if she’s not used to it?
Kazim: Son, I must remind you that I raised my daughters in the best way, and that’s undeniable. (To Orhan) Remember the dinner? The call with the Frenchman? What was his name, Philippe? My daughters solved it.
Ferit: They solved it, but that’s different.
Kazim: That’s not true. I saw you that day, and you were completely surprised. Look, don’t even think about underestimating either of my beautiful daughters. Look, they are prepared, and it’s clear. I know it. They aren’t dumb, and you know it.
Orhan: Mr. Kazim, Ferit wasn’t insinuating to the contrary, but he does worry about exposing Seyran to the press.
Kazim: What are they going to do? Listen, son, she’s your wife. If the press harasses her, you can defend her and speak up to them like a husband would.
Ferit: I’m trying to protect her, but she won’t listen.
Kazim shakes his head: You’re not trying to protect her, and you know it. What you’re doing is interfering with what she wants. Let her work. Let your wife earn her money.

Episode 55 #4 of 9
Orhan: Mr. Kazim, the truth is I don’t understand why Seyran needs to make money.
Kazim: Orhan, necessity is not the only reason to work. Look, listen to this story. Your beloved son came with me one day, and he said I didn’t do anything. “Father Kazim doesn’t do anything!” (Ferit is rolling his eyes now.). Look at him. I gave him advice. And that told me, “It’s fine, I understand. It’s ignorance.” He doesn’t understand what it’s like, being the head of his own family, which is why my daughter has to earn her own money, so he doesn’t undervalue her. It would be good for her to feel useful and learn to earn her own money.
Ferit: I’m not against her working. She could work for the family company.
Kazim: Oh son, what an idea. Your dad hasn’t opened the company doors for you, and you want Seyran to work there?
Ferit has his hands over his brow now, often a bad sign. Orhan has a little smile.
Kazim: Ferit, look, if you have a legitimate complaint, please tell me. We could talk it over, that’s no problem. This is a democracy.
Ferit: I don’t want it, Mr. Kazim. I’ll be jealous of my wife. Please. Everyone will be able to see her in photos and videos and on television, and they’ll be talking about her looks. I won’t be able to handle gossip and it’ll hurt the relationship.
Kazim: So, trust in yourself, and trust in your wife. Seyran told me all the details, and she swore the clothes won’t be revealing. She wouldn’t do it if I didn’t support her. Orhan, your wife, Gulgun, found this job. Is she not home? Did you send her away because she supported my daughter?
Orhan: Please, Mr. Kazim.
Kazim: What can I say? It’s just a question. Orhan, look, listen, man. I want her to accept the job. My daughter thought a lot about this proposal, and she made her decision. She came to consult me after, and I gave her permission as her father, and everything’s fine. If there’s a valid reason, tell me now, but not that poor excuse. “I don’t feel like letting her work!” What does that mean? Is that a valid reason?
There is silence as father and son think about this.
Seyran is up in the attic. She gets a call from an unknown number. She answers, and it is Efe: I’m with Defne, and we bet that you’d recognize me as soon as I said hi, and I won.
Seyran: I’m listening.
Efe: I’m happy you accepted. I knew you’d love this project.
Seyran: But I still haven’t given my final answer. I still haven’t spoken with Ms. Defne. Maybe you misunderstood when you spoke with Ferit?
Efe:
what misunderstanding? It wasn’t like that.
Seyran: Honestly, I’m still not sure. I’m thinking.
Efe: That’s enough of answer for me. I suggest we get together tonight for dinner. Defne, you, me, and your husband could come too. We could talk about the project. What do you say?
Seyran: I’d love to, but it’s hard, Mr. Efe. I’ll have my answer for you by tomorrow, I assure you.
Efe: Listen, I have a proposal. Since Defne already made the restaurant reservation, (Defne eyeroll here), we’ll dine there. If you want to come, call my assistant, and she’ll tell you the place and time. If you’re free, you can join us. Don’t feel obligated.
Seyran: Yes, I’d like to, but the truth is, it’s fine.
Efe: Good. I’ll see you tonight.
We see him smiling at his phone while Defne is watching in the background. She laughs that they are going to dinner and she had no idea. Efe tells her it was an idea that jumped into his head.
Defne: Don’t pressure that girl too much, or you’ll regret it.
Efe: I’m not the one pressuring her. It’s her husband. He’ll regret being that way.
Defne: We’ll see.
(Back at the yali) Kazim: If you really want to help her, accept. That would be best. My decision is final. If my daughter doesn’t want to stay put, like a barn owl in this house, I support her. She’s his wife, not his slave, understand?
Orhan: We don’t treat her like a slave here.

Kazim: That’s what you say, but she’s my daughter. My beloved daughter, and she exercises her freedom. If she makes a mistake in the future, she’ll take it back. Listen. I really don’t want her to end up just like my wife or yours.
(Ferit turns to look at Orhan here.)
Kazim: My decision is firm. End of story. Listen (to Ferit), it’s final. No discussion. That’s it.
Ferit: That’s fine, Mr. Kazim. It’ll be exactly as you say. It’s already decided. But listen, I won’t fix the consequences that happen. You’ll fix them, OK?
Kazim: If everything is so OK, then why did you make me talk all morning? (Ferit laughs.) (To Orhan) There’s something odd about your son. All this talking made me thirsty.
Orhan says they will ask for water. Ferit watches in amusement. Kazim asks why water? Now that this was resolved, they should have a victory coffee.
Orhan agrees.
Ferit smiles at the victory coffee and agrees. He stands up. He says if there’s nothing left, it’s best if he leaves: I’ll let them know about your coffee. Maybe you can share some. (Ferit stares at Orhan a bit). My father could learn a lot from you, Mr. Kazim.
Kazim smiles at this and watches Ferit leave the room.
Kazim tells Orhan that Ferit is very young and it shows. He tells Orhan to relax.
Orhan manages to nod at this.
Up in the attic, Seyran meets with Ferit.
Ferit: It’s best if I give you the news.
Seyran: What notice?
Ferit: You can do what you want, Seyran. I don’t care what you do anymore.
Seyran: F-Ferit, what happened?
Ferit: I couldn’t stand my dad agreeing with me. This isn’t worth it.
Seyran: And ?
Ferit: So, you can do what you want. That’s the decision.
Seyran: There’s no problem. I can accept, right?
Ferit: I hope this brings you a lot of success.
Seyran: Did my dad say something bad, Ferit? What happened?
Ferit: No, not at all. In fact, he only spoke the truth. He said he didn’t want you to end up like our mothers for any reason. He can tell. My mom isn’t happy at all living in this house. Your mom’s the same in her situation. Maybe your father can tell, I don’t know.
Seyran: You’re being too dramatic. I don’t believe you.
Ferit, voice cracking: I really hope it’s worth it, after everything that’s happened to me. And you want to expose yourself. I think I’m used to it, thanks to you, Seyran.
Ferit’s phone rings: Tell me, Abidin. It’s fine. I’ll go right now.
Seyran: Did something happen? Why do you want to know? Why does it matter to you? I’m not your problem anymore. Focus on your life.
Ferit gets his coat and leaves.
Seyran is impactada.
Downstairs, the fathers are still talking. Kazim notices that they left him alone. And the girls?
Orhan: Do you need help?
Kazim: No, I don’t need anything. I wanted to talk to Suna. Thinking it over, Suna can stay the night here with her sister.
Orhan: I’ll call Ifakat. She must be with her.
Ferit walks up to Abidin and asks what’s up? Something bad?
Abidin asks him to come with him so they can talk.
Ferit doesn’t move: What’s up?
Abidin: Come here!

They are just a little bit out of the front door, and close enough for Suna to hear them when she walks down the stairs.
Abidin: They cut me off when I was driving.
Ferit: Who?
Abidin: Serter’s uncle.
Ferit: Why didn’t you tell me earlier?
Abidin: It was when I brought Suna and Kazim. When they got here, you started talking to Kazim, Ferit.
Ferit paces a bit: Did they say anything in particular?
Abidin: No, don’t worry. Kazim and Suna didn’t understand what it was about. But these guys have become a serious problem.
Ferit: He sent them because I saw Pelin last night? Clearly, he’s trying to intimidate us.
(Suna looks very alarmed now.)
Ferit: I told Pelin she has to end it with that idiot.
Abidin: You yelled at her, didn’t you?
Ferit: What do you think? She didn’t want to understand. It was all I could do. I don’t know how to convince her not to see that low born guy. Listen, Abidin, Pelin still doesn’t understand the seriousness of this problem. I don’t know how, but I have to make her understand. Let’s go.
Abidin: I’m still waiting for Mr. Kazin, Ferit. I’m taking him home.
Suna is surprised at this.
Ferit: Do whatever you want. Is the key in my car?
Abidin nods.
Suna walks into the living area as Ferit heads for his auto.
Upstairs, Ifakat looks furtive as she enters Orhan’s room.
Orhan: He saw us. Ferit knows. You’re right.
Ifakat: I told you. Ferit wants revenge. I’m sure he wants to punish us!
Orhan: Calm down, please. We’ll fix this.
Ifakat: What solution? If Grandfather hears this, it’s over for me!
Orhan: Calm down, Ifakat. I won’t let anything happen. We don’t have to fix it. We’ll deny it.
Ifakat: And Ferit?
Orhan: I’ll find a way to handle him. What matters now is what my father believes. I’ll question Ferit when I get the chance. Then we’ll know what he saw. But the only thing I know is we have to deny everything. Understand? Now calm down.
Ifakat: I can’t calm down! I think we need to talk to Ferit today!
Meanwhile, Suna is lost in thought in her room. Seyran joins her, and Suna asks her to sit with her. Seyran sits, but looks very dejected: Sister, I don’t feel good.
Suna: Why? I saw Dad leave happy. Is it because Ferit keeps denying it?
Seyran: It’s not like that. He ended up accepting, but…I think it’s certain. Abidin called him and he left. Who knows where. He looked very depressed.
Suna takes a deep breath: He’ll be fine. Hopefully, nothing else happens.
Seyran: It’s not that easy to understand, Suna. Ferit went through something terrible, and I couldn’t console him like I wanted to because of the issue with this project.
Suna: Seyran? Tell me, are you thinking of going back?
Seyran: To be honest, I think I won’t accept.
Suna: Don’t even think it. You have to accept it. This changes nothing. Don’t be dumb.
Seyran: But Ferit sometimes helps me. He tries. He’s even cutting Pelin out of his life, but

Suna: Hmmm, I hope he gets her out of his life.
Seyran can tell that Suna knows something: What do you mean, sister?
Suna: I didn’t mean anything. I spoke without thinking.
Seyran: Sister, do you know something that I don’t? Please, tell me what you know.
Suna: Last night, Ferit was with Pelin. Before he was with her, he went to talk to her new friend. It looks like they fought. And then Ferit asked her to leave him, and now it looks like he left to talk to Pelin again. That’s why I told you. You shouldn’t trust him like that. You shouldn’t lose this opportunity because of him. OK?
Seyran is chewing on her lip and thinking hard. She jumps up, and Suna runs to stop her: Wait for him to come back to confront him, OK? Calm down.
Seyran: No, I understand. I’m an idiot, you’re completely right. I’m stupid and now I need you to leave me alone, Sister.
Suna: Seyran…
But Seyran leaves without listening to more.
We see Ferit get out of his SUV to walk into a building that is probably Pelin’s. He is being watched by a henchie, who then makes a phone call to someone named Maho.
Inside, Pelin hears her doorbell. She sees Ferit and looks less than thrilled. Does she know about the henchie?
She opens the door and asks Ferit: Why are you here? Didn’t you yell at me enough?
Ferit: I need to talk to you. That’s why I’m here. Enter.
Pelin closes her door.
Ferit: Did you do what I told you to?
Pelin: What?
Ferit: What did you decide about him?
Pelin: Ferit, stop insisting. I don’t want to talk about this.
Ferit takes her hand: Pelin, why don’t you want to understand? That boy isn’t the type of person you should go out with. Why is that so hard to get?
Pelin, very disturbed: But why are you doing this? How does this benefit you? I don’t know what you want when I’m so confused. Please have mercy!
She walks away.
Ferit: Why do you think I came over again? I feel bad for you. That idiot harassed Abidin with his men. Did he tell you that?
Pelin: What?
Ferit: What? Does this surprise you? Abidin was cut off and intimidated. Don’t you see what kind of person he is? Stop acting like a stupid girl. Look, I came here to protect you, Pelin. I’m not doing this for me. That’s why I’m insisting. This guy will bring you nothing but shame! You have to understand.
Pelin: Don’t yell at me! (She is crying.)

Ferit: Then don’t make me yell! I won’t insist anymore, and when you call me and say, “Ferit, I need your help. I’m upset, please help me,” what do you think I’ll do? I’ll ignore you, Pelin. Because you don’t want to believe me. Because you don’t trust me anymore, but you trust that guy. OK, Pelin. You’ll pay a high price, I’m sure of it. Understand? (Pelin turns away and cries.). Go ahead, cry. Cry. Because it’s only the beginning. You’ll cry more later, I’m sure.
Ferit walks away toward the door, leaving Pelin very impactada.
Up in her attic suite, Seyran is sitting on the bed thinking about what Suna just told her. She twiddles her thumbs. Ferit comes in, looking chipper: Seyran?
Seyran, in a very serious voice: Where did you go? Where are you coming from?
Ferit walks over toward her and asks what’s happened.
Ferit: What’s going on?
Seyran: I’ll ask you again, and if you have decency, you’ll answer me with a bit of honesty.
Ferit: Agreed.
Seyran: Did you go to Pelin’s house a while ago?
Ferit: What are you talking about now? Who told you that?
Seyran: It doesn’t matter who told me. Now, answer me. Am I wrong or are you still seeing her?
Ferit: Seyran, I fear you’ve lost the luxury to ask me about these types of things. If you remember, your decisions mean my life no longer inconveniences you. Why do you care who I go out with?
Seyran gets up and hits out at Ferit: Ferit, I told you to answer me! Did you or did you not go with her?
Ferit: Seyran, why do you keep butting into my life? You’re crazy for a fight.
Seyran: Oh, like I want to fight! Answer me, Ferit. Did you go to her, or did you go somewhere else?
Ferit: I went because it was necessary. That’s why. Is that clear? Satisfied?
Seyran holds up a finger in frustration.
Ferit continues: Or do you think I have another reason? I went to protect her. They guy she’s going out with will bring her problems. I went to her house to ask her not to date that idiot. What’s the harm?
Seyran: Why do you care? Why do you care? Why do you care what she does? Why do you care who Pelin dates? I worried about you, feeling pity for you like an idiot. I even thought about not taking the job.
Ferit: Feeling pity? Well, too bad. Keep the pity, because in the end, you’ll bring pity when you have that job.
Seyran: When we saw her at the store, you said you understood if she went out with someone. You seemed very understanding when you talked to her. What could have happened in two days? You’re back at her house, fighting with her new guy. What happened, Ferit?
Ferit: I see you don’t understand me. I didn’t go to her house because I was jealous. I keep thinking the same thing. The guy she’s going out with could hurt her. I tried to convince her he is dangerous. Do you want me to leave her alone?
Seyran: I don’t understand why it matters. Why do you care?
Ferit: It’s very simple. I already told you! He’s dangerous. I don’t want Pelin to keep going out with him, OK? Simple. I just don’t. Seyran, I understand. Just like everyone in this house, Pelin has always been a part of my life, and she always will be.
Seyran: So, she always will be? Fine. Tell me what you’re planning. Do you want two wives? Will you marry her too? What are you planning?

Ferit: Understand that you’re not part of my plans. So now I’ll do whatever I want. Because you go whenever you want. Because you don’t love me. Because you don’t want to have my child, even though being a father is my biggest wish. And maybe I will be, but I’m sure Pelin will be the mother. Who knows?
Seyran is holding her head in her hands in emotional pain.
Ferit: Maybe I protect her because that’s what I want! Who knows. Are you content? Am I clear enough?
Seyran, snarling and using her index finger to emphasize her words: You are the worst bas**ard I’ve ever met! From now on, you cannot tell me anything about what I do or decide! I bet Pelin’s boyfriend is much better than you! Now, get out! Go be with your lover, you filthy creep. Get out! Get out!
Seyran continues to yell until he heads out the door.
After he leaves, she starts throwing breakable things, kicking the furniture, and pulling the linens off the bed. She then collapses into the linens, weeping.
Suna comes in. She works hard to calm down her sister. Finally, she holds her tight, telling her it’s OK and encouraging her to breathe. Seyran still has wild eyes, but she starts to calm down.
Ferit walks away from the yali. He finds Abidin in the garage, sitting at a table.
Fert: Abidin?
Abidin: Ferit? What happened? Are you OK?
Ferit: Come with me. I need to go out. As soon as possible.
Abidin: It’s OK, brother, calm down. Did you fight again?
Ferit: Are you surprised? We always fight.
Abidin: Now I understand.
Back upstairs, Seyran looks at herself in the bathroom mirror.
Suna knocks on the door. She tells her she is coming. Seyran takes a deep breath, pulls her shoulders back and stands up straight. She emerges looking calm after the storm.
Suna asks if she is OK.
Seyran takes her phone and checks to see if Efe sent her the address. She tells Suna they will go together.
Suna: Where are we going?
Seyran: Dinner with Efe and Defne.
Suna: What?
Seyran: You heard me. You’re coming with me.
Suna: What do I have to do with this dinner?
Seyran: You’ll come to dinner because you’re my sister. I don’t want to go alone, and I need your company. And you’ll see what your sister is capable of. Ferit will receive a lovely present. He deserves it.
End of Episode 55
Babachita
Jueves – Parte 1 de 2 They keep showing that tree in the yard at Miranda’s, and I’m wondering if the baddies plan to climb over to Renata that way.
Whoa! Tuqueque turns out to be sensible. Oscar the Hothead wants to start killing trained security guards. They’re in a car outside the house. He reminds Oscar that his father wanted a clean snatch. He says that Renata knows Oscar (from when she lived with Graciela and met the García boys). He’ll be able to convince her to leave with him.
Antonia is very unhappy about Hugo’s lame plan that put a dangerous criminal back on the street. She warns him that another screwup will mean an indefinite suspension.
Ignacio is whining to Sué. She lets him have it with the news that his mother caused them to lose their baby. When he argues about this, she blows up at him.
Renata is confused. She’s talking to Tato and tells him that she trusts Antonia, but Antonia said her father was bad.
Hugo stammers out a marriage proposal. Not with a ring in a champagne glass in a candlelit restaurant, but in a corridor at the cop shop to a woman traumatized by a very recent rape.
César wakes up feeling awful. He emphasizes that he wants a good life, to attend school. He tells Misael that what he did, giving him drugs, is not love. He breaks it off with Misael. Misael begs and mentions rehab.
Oscar goes inside and sees Renata picking flowers. We are reminded that Gustavo is buried right there, and Renata plans to put them on his grave. She’s happy to see Oscar. Sounds like he says he wants to take her somewhere to play some fútbol. They keep dragging this out, but Miranda calls for Renata and Oscar has to run for it. He hides in a bush and raises his gun to shoot Miranda. Tuqueque stops him. Then Oscar threatens Tuqueque for “interfering”. [It will be interesting to see which hothead bites the dust first, Oscar or his father.]
Agustin is shot and killed by the disgusting Fabio at Cruz’s suggestion. Later Graciela finds out and puts her hand over her mouth in horror. [Will she connect the dots to Cruz’s anger when she told him she heard from Agustin that Cruz and El Az were in on Gustavo’s killing together?]
Jueves – Parte 2 de 2 Adela tells Magola about Cocula raping her, and Antonia is in on the conversation.
Nacho and César are with Leonor. She whines. It’s not clear to me that they knew she tried to kill herself. When confronted, she denies getting rid of Nacho’s child. It’s not clear to me he’s smart enough to figure out the truth, even though Sué wanted to bring him to the doctor who told her the truth.
Miranda thinks Renata is doing the imaginary friend thing (about Oscar) until Renata describes knowing Remedios (when she lived with Graciela). Santi and Lobo overhear. (Whew!)
Lobo also overhears Miranda telling Renata that Antonia is an enemy who wants to take their money
El Az is furious the kidnapping failed and points a gun at Tuqueque, who then tells him about having to stop Oscar from shooting his gun. El Az throws up his hands in disgust and entrusts Cocula with the job.
Leonor comes to tell Cruz that their children don’t want the divorce. He’s brutal. He says he never had a happy day with her. She talks about nervous crises, and he reminds her there were a lot of those. He insults her some more and says he’ll tell the guards not to let her in.
Lobo brings Santi to his teaching job. He asks him to take away the mic. They got what they needed, and he doesn’t want Alejandro to find it. He’s going to stay there to watch out for his daughter.
Leonor comes to see Antonia to testify against Cruz. She says he was involved in the assassination of Gustavo De la Colina. Antonia records it. Leonor says that she knew that Gustavo and Hernando Cruz were in business together. And that Gustavo laundered money. She heard Cruz’s end of the conversation where Gustavo wanted out because of El Azufrero being involved. When they hung up, Cruz said he was going to kill him.
[I don’t quite understand this. She made it sound like El Az was horning in at the end. But he was the one actually running the guns. That’s where the money came from that Gustavo was salting away. My recollection of that conversation is Gustavo just saying he simply didn’t want to be involved anymore; i.e. maybe going straight.]
Adela can’t bear to live where the attack took place and asks Hugo about moving in with him. Of course he’s pleased.
Leonor almost backs out when it’s time to sign her declaration, but Antonia assures her she’ll be protected. She signs it.
Magola gets fired because Oscar came to their house.
Cocula is staking out Miranda’s place. Lobo sneaks up and gets the drop on him. He tells him he’s taking him to a quiet place for a thorough beatdown.
Is this the first time Fabio an agent, has murdered someone? That's a significant step. I'm disgusted that Fabio (and Graciela) hasn't seen that continuing to follow Cruz's lead has no good future. Cruz isn't getting out of prison.
I think Leonor is telling a version of the truth. She will keep her coordination with Remedios quiet and other things that might incriminate herself. Also, she would not have heard about every phone call, etc. between Cruz Azufrero and Gustavo. She did not get the protection from prison and protection of her life in writing from Antonia. No mention of a witness protection program, which would take her away from her boys. (Or, to Novelera's point, perhaps the show writers got sloppy.)
Novelera: AWESOME job with the recap of last night's episode. More frustrating with some characters, who are so damn irritating LOL.
Anastasia: Nacho is an idiot for believing the lies of Mommy Dearest over Sue OMG. I also have to think somebody at that nursing home will eventually open their mouths to Eugenio & Antonia about Lady Macbeth killing Guillermina.
On Buji Goldie Locks: It's pretty clear to me that she is likely NOT going to be saved at this point. I will NOT be sad to see her go Buh-Bye!
