Episode 144 #1 of 8
A guard is walking Elif to a meeting in the prison. When Elif stumbles, the guard tells her that she turned out to be a weak woman. Look at you, girl! Elif’s expression shows no reaction to this. Omer is waiting for her. Omer hugs her, but she doesn’t react to that, either.
Omer: What happened? Why did you do it? Why did you lose faith?
Elif: Justice had to be done, someone has to pay.
Omer: If what you want is justice, then you should be free. (He takes her hands.) Because no one can be more innocent than you. Your hands are cold and your forehead is wet. Are you OK?
Elif’s hands are shaky. He asks again if she is OK. She starts to fall and he catches her. He puts her on the floor and calls for help. She appears to be convulsing. He tries to calm her down.
At the Dundar mansion, Tayyar opens a champagne bottle to celebrate. Fatih walks in.
Tayyar: Dear Fatih, you’ve arrived just in time. We have much to celebrate. Elif Denizer was in court and confessed to the crime. (Fatih doesn’t look as pleased as his father.) It’s been too long since I’ve felt as happy as I do right now. Let’s raise a glass to Elif Denizer! We’ll never forget what she did to save us.
They tip their glasses to Elif.
Fatih: Well done, Elif.
Tayyar watches Fatih drink his champagne: But, I still have some questions. I will figure it out eventually, how Omer escaped from his grave.
The doctor enters: Mr. Tayyar, I thought I’d been clear enough. You’re prohibited from drinking alcohol.
Tayyar, snickers: Dead rats don’t feel cold. Besides I want to hear news, not reproaches.
Doctor: Everything is ready for tonight, just as you ordered.
Tayyar: Very good, good.
Fatih bites: This evening? What will happen?
Tayyar: That idiot, Husseyn is dead. I got rid of him, and so he won’t be a nuisance anymore. And I’ve reunited with my dear son, and God willing, I’ll find a way to reunite with the other one too. I just need that. I have to have the operation before I can look for him and contact him. Health is the greatest blessing in life, Fatih. As soon as I have my new kidney, he’ll have to receive me.
Fatih: And why didn’t you tell me? I’m so glad. Really. And well, where will it be? I’m asking in case I can help you in any way.
Tayyar: Bless you, dear son. Even though we’ve lost some years, we have a beautiful father-son relationship. The operation will be done at my hospital. But, doctor, change your expression, please. Have a toast with us.
The doctor agrees and fills a glass.
Fatih has an inscrutable expression on his face. He is thinking hard and his eyes are turning every which way. What is he thinking?
At the prison hospital, Elif is in a hospital bed. Omer is beside her telling her everything will be all right. He tells her he won’t leave her alone.

Episode 144 #2 of 8
The doctor says they will proceed; her heart rate is slow. Omer tells her he will be right back.
He goes into the doctor’s office.
Omer: Doctor, what’s wrong? Why is she like this?
Doctor: We have to rule that out, but I don’t think this episode is related to a chronic illness. Stress could have caused her heart rate to drop, as well as her blood pressure. Both of those factors led to this collapse.
Omer: The last time we saw each other, she was fine. It’s too sudden.
Doctor: I saw her file. Her psychiatrist prescribed a fairly low dose of antidepressants. These shouldn’t have caused any side effects, but…
Omer: Doctor, can I see the medication? I suppose Elif had it with her, right?
Doctor hands it to Omer and continues: As I was saying, it’s a low dose, but it could have caused some side effects. However, I wouldn’t rule out that possibility after reviewing her impeccable medical history.
Omer: May I stay with her a little longer?
Doctor: I have to send her back to her cell once the IV is finished.
Omer: Doctor, I ask that you please let me stay with her at least until she feels a little better.
Doctor: OK, Captain, but only five minutes.
Omer smiles and thanks him.
He goes back to Elif and asks how she is feeling.
Elif: Tell me what the doctor said. I’ll live?
Omer nods: Unfortunately, you won’t live long (in jest), but it will be long enough for you to travel in Turkiye, and maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to go to more distant places, like Latin America or Australia.
Elif: Really?
Omer: Of course, Signorina. We’ll visit all the countries that want to share their secerts about happiness and love with us.
[It’s nice to see their banter again.]
Elif: There’s still happiness in this world, Captain.
Omer: Of course, right here we are looking at each other and our hands are intertwined.
Elif: Tell me, what else did the doctor tell you?
Omer: He said your life is all mapped out. Ah, and he also asked me to tell you that your life is intertwined with mine and that you’ll never get rid of me. He also said that we’ll be together sooner than you imagine, and that my name will be engraved on your heart, that our lives and all our dreams will be joined. You know what that means?
Elif: What does that mean?
Omer: It means love, lots of light, hope and lots of children. You won’t be able to avoid it because you’ll live long enough for us to have four children and ten grandchildren.
Elif laughs: Do you think that after we have four children, I’ll be able to live?
Omer: Of course and give others hope. Your love is enough for everyone because in you there’s nothing dark or anything false, only unconditional love. Nothing more.
Elif: I think he’s talking about another woman. Captain, I can’t give you all that. I can’t even think about having a child, much less four.
Omer: Ah, I think you’re telling me that because you don’t want to change your figure. Well, let’s not have children, just…I’ll take care of you, it’s not that big of a deal.
Elif: Omer, when…
Omer interrupts: Shhh. Just dream, imagine, and everything will be reality.
At the mobile hospital, Husseyn is sitting in his hospital bed listening to the television. “According to the latest information from the Palace of Justice, Elif Denizer, the president of the Denizer Holding company, pleaded guilty in the trial held today. The court’s decision will be delivered in five days. We will keep you promptly informed of the development of this case.
Husseyn turns off the TV. He says: You’re a miserable wretch, Dundar, you’ll go to hell, idiot. If you manage to escape, I myself will come looking for you and take you away.
Just then, as if on cue, Fatih enters the room.
Husseyn wipes away tears of frustration and says to himself: Just what I needed.
Fatih tells him the day has come. He directs the doctor to see if he has any problem.
Husseyn asks if he will be going to Istanbul. Fatih tells him not exactly: A great battle awaits us.

Episode 144 #3 of 8
Husseyn tells him he doesn’t understand. What is Fatih talking about?
Husseyn: You said you wanted to kill Tayyar. Your moment has arrived.
Husseyn: What are you saying? It will be difficult like this.
Fatih gives him a pep talk: Husseyn, you are a strong man. Nothing can stop you. Kill him, take revenge on him. Then you will take Burhan and you can be a free man.
Doctor: His leg is not healthy enough to put a prosthesis on him. Even if we did, he wouldn’t be able to walk with it. It takes time to get used to, it’s very difficult.
Husseyn: For me, no. Just do it. Put that prosthesis on me. I’ll take care of the rest. I have to get rid of a bag of garbage.
Fatih: What admirable brothers they must be, the pride of their mother. Neco, go to the car to get the prosthesis.
Husseyn is sitting with his wild-eyed look.
Elif is talking with Omer.
Elif: I don’t know if it’s because of the medication, but I’m seeing Husseyn all the time, no matter if I’m awake or not. When I told my psychiatrist about it, he said it was because of my conscience, and that the medicine would tear down the walls I built.
Omer: But in exchange for them you’ll see ghosts.
Elif: Huh?
Omer: The psychiatrist couldn’t even make you remember what happened that night, right? He just convinced you that you committed the murder. That seems very suspicious. Elif, who do you trust, your psychiatrist or me?
Elif: Of course, you.
Omer: Listen to me, don’t see that psychiatrist anymore, OK?
Elif: OK.
Omer: You were right from the beginning. You said you didn’t like him. We should have asked for a change, but it doesn’t matter anymore. Because we will now. We’re going to get another one. I’ll take care of that.
Elif: What happened?
Omer looks at her a long time, and then the doctor comes in telling him the guards will be there any minute.
Omer asks if they have to take her to the cell. Isn’t it possible for her to stay there? The doctor tells him again that it’s not possible.
Omer strokes her head and stares at her, sending strength for her to withstand what awaits her in the cell.
Husseyn is trying his prosthetic leg. The doctor and Neco help him up. Husseyn is in great pain and can’t stand.
Husseyn: I look like a baby taking its first steps. But I’m a man.
He tells the helpers to just hold him, and he keeps working at it, boasting to the doctor that he’s doing it. He says it hurts less when one has a purpose. He keeps working at it, while Fatih is watching.
FLASHBACK: Nilufer is talking to Fatih: I thought you could change. I believed in that. That’s what I hoped for. I don’t know how I could have been so blind all this time. No matter how hard you try, the evil inside you won’t let you come out. Fatih, no matter how hard you try, you keep on being Metin.
Fatih tells Husseyn he must hate him for doing this, but he didn’t have an alternative. You know, the forensic team said they needed a tissue sample from you to identify you. Your brother would have requested a sample from a different lab. I had to cut it so there wouldn’t be any doubt.
Husseyn: My problem isn’t that you amputated my leg, but that I’m blaming you?
Fatih: You’re right. I reprimand you, but don’t hate me.
Babachita
Episode 144 #4 of 8
Husseyn: I only feel hatred for one person, for myself. This is my punishment after acting like a pig. It’s lucky I only lost a leg. Believe me, what I feel for myself is worse than any mutilation.
That’s enough (he tells his helpers). There’s no time for philosophical conversations. We have a lot of work to do. We won’t achieve anything if I don’t practice. Come on!
The doctor tells him they need to walk to the parallel bars. He can practice there better.
Once at the bars, he grabs both of them.
Neco: Mr. Husseyn, in an hour you’ll be running. Please don’t give up.
Husseyn: Of course I’m going to run. I don’t intend to give up.
The doctor gives instructions for him to lean on the bars and try to walk alone. Husseyn starts and with some difficulty is finally able to stumble along. Fatih has to catch him once when he falls. It’s obvious the three men are impressed with Husseyn’s resolve.
At the prison, Omer brings Elif out to put her in the wheelchair that will take her to her cell. Omer puts her in the chair and the two smile. Elif: Don’t look at me like that, Omer.
Omer: How?
Elif: With so much love.
Omer: It’s because I’m in love. The day your lips touched mine, I couldn’t do anything to stop it. Once a beautiful girl told me that she loved riding her bicycle.
Elif: Really?
Omer: Yes, and now I remember that I’ve never gone with her to do it.
Elif: And we never did it, nor have we flown a kite, either.
They smile again as the guards tell them that’s enough.
Omer kisses her forehead and tells her to take care and to take her medicine and promise that she’ll eat. She promises.
As she is wheeled down the hall, she smiles at him, looking much more like the Elif we know! Omer follows her with his eyes, hoping for the best.
Omer is with Arda and very frustrated. Arda tells him they found the guy who shot Osman. He was an ex-con disguised as a policeman. We’re trying to get him to talk, but so far, he hasn’t.
Omer: Of course he’s not going to talk. The only way he will is if he hasn’t received the payment they promised. Omer is also frustrated because they haven’t received results. Just then, a doctor comes to him and tells him he was absolutely right. The ingredients listed on the box of medication aren’t the same as the pills.
Omer: Well, and what did they give her?
The doctor: It’s a type of drug. The side effects are memory loss, hallucinations, tremors, fainting, dizziness, difficulty thinking, and the worst is that it’s addictive. Luckily she didn’t use it in large quantities. Omer thanks him and turns to run to the prison.
Arda tries to stop him, but Omer insists that those miserable people want to kill the woman he loves.
Arda: Don’t abandon her! And what do you plan to do? You’ll shoot them? Great idea. Because then you’ll be going to prison, she’ll become addicted, she’ll hallucinate and then she’ll try committing suicide. And Tayyar will never pay for everything he’s done. Do you really want that ending? Is that really what you’re looking for?
Arda looks intently at Omer who then takes off, with Arda following closely.
At the Dundar mansion, Fatih is sitting in the living room alone, lost in thought. He takes out his phone to call Nilufer. She is sitting in Mert’s new apartment. Nilufer is conflicted about answering. She turns off the call without answering. Mert is watching her. She starts crying.
Fatih calls again with no luck. He paces a bit and then sees his father and Batur come up the stairs. Tayyar tells him he has some pending matters to take care of, but he will get there in time the operation. Dr. Batur tells him they should be going to the clinic now. This enrages Tayyar who says he can’t go now. I’ll go when I’m free.
Fatih: I didn’t know you had to go to the clinic so soon. I would have gone to see you there.

Episode 144 #5 of 8
Tayyar: I have to make a couple of calls before I leave. I’m going to rest a bit. I need to ask you one last favor. Behave like a good brother and go get Mert so he can be here with us.
Fatih: You’re afraid. What! You’ve overcome a million challenges.
Tayyar: Everything will be alright, even though I know everything that happens inside the operating room. Undergoing an operation intimidates me. There’s always the possibility of not surviving. I want to see my children together while I’m alive. Bring Mert to me, please.
Fatih looks at his father and gives him a little smile.
At the Denizer mansion, Nedret, Asli, and Filiz are having tea (or coffee). Nedret says she is exhausted and is going upstairs to rest.
Asli wishes her good night. Filiz also excuses herself to go rest.
Asli: It’s too early! Let’s talk early so we can keep each other company.
Filiz thinks a little and then agrees.
Asli tells her she’s been in the family for so long and living with us for the last couple of months, but they still don’t know her.
Filiz: It’s just that we’ve never taken the time to sit down and talk.
Asli pats her hands: So, tell me something about yourself. For example, do you have contact with your parents, or have you ever been able to know them?
Filiz: No, never. Ms. Nedret has always been like a mother and father to me. I think that’s why I never needed them.
Asli: My aunt is very nice, by the way. And how you meet?
Filiz smiles.
Omer and Arda are in the car, with Omer driving fast.
Arda: Omer, you haven’t said a word the whole way. At least you could tell me what you plan to do.
Omer: Give me patience, please.
Omer drives up to a house and parks.
Omer: Number 11. We’ll find out who’s paying that idiot psychiatrist.
Arda: Have you lost your mind? You know that we can’t be here at this hour. We could be reported. Let’s come back tomorrow. Omer, listen to me, for once in your life,…
Omer rings the bell and the psychiatrist (Haluk) answers the door. He asks who they are and why they are there at this hour. Omer gives him his very intent Captain Omer Demir look. Omer thinks for a minute and then grabs him, telling him he will come with them.
Omer: We’re going to talk. You don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to talk to you.
Omer punches the doctor, who falls to the ground.
Omer shows the pills to the doctor: Tell me what this is. Do you want to try one? Remember this? What kind of doctor are you? You help people with this? (Omer gives him a hard slap.) Start talking, you idiot.
Haluk: I don’t understand what you want. Are you a thief? What does this mean?
Omer: There are pigs like you everywhere. Tell me, where are your ethics? You don’t even have a shred of compassion.
Haluk struggles to stand up and calls for help.
Omer: Wait, where do you think you’re going, you idiot? She trusted you and opened her heart, and you just wanted to drive her crazy.
Omer hits him again, and Arda tells him that it’s enough.
The person who Haluk was yelling for appears at the door: What did you do to my husband?
Arda goes over and tells Haluk to stand up and that they need to talk.
Haluk tells them he will denounce them: You’ll regret coming here. You can’t come to my house like this. I’m going to report you.
Babachita
Episode 144 #6 of 8
Arda: Shut up or I’ll finish what my partner started. I can continue with the places he forgot to hit you.
Omer: Let’s go. We’ll take you to talk to the judge, and you’ll tell him everything you know about Elif Denizer.
Haluk exclaims he won’t because he doesn’t know anything about it.
Omer: You’ll come, you idiot!
The wife tells them that’s enough: Leave us alone.
Some police drive up. She yells to them that they are trying to kill her husband. Arda walks up to them with his badge. The policeman asks what’s happening. Arda tells him it was a small problem and is already solved. The policeman offers to help Arda. He thanks him but tells him everything is in order. The policeman wishes him a good evening and leaves.
The wife starts yelling: Why are you leaving? Don’t you see? They are beating my husband. Why don’t you arrest them?
Omer glares at her. He sighs in relief as the cops get in their car.
Omer: Enough. Let’s get out of here. We’ll see each other again. Did you hear me? You won’t get away from me that easily.
He and Arda get in their car. The doctor’s wife takes him inside the house.
At their car, Omer watches and tells Arda they will have to follow that jerk. He might be going to Tayyar. Two birds with one stone.
Wife: Haluk, come inside.
Haluk: You go inside while I go get some ice.
He calls Tayyar: Hello, this is Haluk, sir.
Tayyar: I suppose you’re calling from a secure phone?
Haluk: Of course. I have bad news, sir.
Tayyar, annoyed: What do you mean you have bad news?
Halik: Omer Demir came to my house. It seems he found me out. He must have had the antidepressants tested. I’m finished.
Tayyar looks alarmed now.
Tayyar: Even if he did, that doesn’t prove anything. You have to play the victim, understand? Don’t panic. Do this: get out of where you are and don’t ever call me again. Forget I exist. You never knew me. And lastly, don’t even think about mentioning my name because you know what will happen to you if you do. Goodbye.
Tayyar hangs up.
The doctor says: I can see you don’t allow any mistakes. Sometimes I’m afraid of what might happen to me if I make one.
Tayyar, with a grim expression: If my operation isn’t having optimal results, you’ll know, doctor.
Doctor: Everything is ready, we should go.
Tayyar: I’m waiting for my sons. I need to see them first. We’ll wait.
Mert’s doorbell rings. We see Nilufer drying her hair. She goes to Mert, sleeping on the couch, who doesn’t react. She asks if he’s expecting anyone. No response, so she goes to answer the door. [It’s Fatih for sure, I’m thinking!] Bingo! Fatih is surprised to see her.
Fatih asks what she is doing there? She asks him what he’s doing there.
Fatih: I’m at my brother’s house. You know I can come whenever I want. Why are you here?
Nilufer: After knowing what you did with Elif, I couldn’t face my family.
Fatih, angrily: There are hotels!
Nilufer: I just wanted to feel safe.
Mert is waking up now!
Fatih: So, you feel safe. One of us provokes passion and the other makes you feel safe. You find another place to stay. Let’s go.

Episode 144 #7 of 8
Nilufer: Fatih, don’t be ridiculous. Mert is my friend from infancy.
Fatih: He came first, he has priority.
Nilufer, angrily: Exactly.
Fatih: So, sometimes you think, why didn’t you choose him?
Nilufer: Who knows.
Mert: Don’t be ridiculous. Don’t drag me into your fights. I love another woman and Nilufer and I have been friends since we were kids. Tell me what you’re doing here.
Fatih: They are going to operate on your father. He wants you to be with him.
Mert: You can tell him not to worry because I’ll see him at his funeral. Now leave.
Fatih: Go, get your things now, go, go!
Mert: Nilufer, don’t go if you don’t want to.
Fatih turns quickly to look at Mert, feeling a little bit triumphant. She gets her things and thanks Mert for everything. She kisses his cheek. She tells him she is glad to have him. Nilufer leaves.
The brothers continue to stare at each other, and then Fatih turns to leave.
Outside the building, Fatih tells her he will take her. She declines the offer.
Fatih: You heard me. I’ll leave you at a hotel.
Nilufer: I’ll go to the hotel that I choose. You won’t know where.
A taxi drives up.
Nilufer gets in, Fatih stoops to look at the driver, and the taxi takes off, with Fatih frowning.
Omer is flicking his Zippo lighter lid, always a sign of his frustration. He is carefully looking over the photos of the evidence in the case of Husseyn. He is alone in the police office.
FLASHBACK #1: Omer is remembering when Osman, the crooked police forensic leader, dies after being shot by the fake poiliceman. Osman told him “an ambulance,” twice, very earnestly. After that, he dies.
FLASHBACK #2: A different forensic expert tells him: When we were leaving, we found tire tracks. They were very strong marks and recent. Arda and Pelin ask what kind of tracks, from a car or something else. The policeman tells him they were from something bigger, like a truck. We were going to photograph them, but….
Omer, in present time, grabs his phone.
Arda and Pelin are sleeping. Arda, in a romantic mood: My love, this is very similar to a Chinese torture.
Pelin: Arda, please.
Arda: OK. Look, I’m going to talk to my mother so she can ask for your hand. I’ll do it whenever you want. We’ll get married.
Pelin: Arda, it’s not a good time to get married. Look how things are. Let’s wait until Elif gets out of jail. After that, we can think about getting married.
Arda: And, in the meantime, I must continue to endure this torture.
Pelin nods: Yes.
Arda: Then I will singlehandedly find the assassin, I’ll save Elif because I can’t stand this anymore.
Pelin: Arda, I told you from the beginning what I think.
The phone rings. Arda jokingly acts very thrilled at this development, making Pelin laugh.
It’s Omer. He tells Arda his theory about Osman saying ambulance just before he died: Instead of asking for an ambulance to save himself, he was trying to tell us that the vehicle that left the tracks was an ambulance.
Arda thinks that is excellent, and Omer goes on to speculate that they killed Husseyn somewhere else, so they need to find another crime scene. Arda tells him he is a genius and that he and Pelin will join him shortly.
Pelin asks what he said, and Arda tells her “only after they get married.” She is very frustrated that he won’t tell her. She tells him it isn’t funny and then goes to get dressed.

Episode 144 #8 of 8
Fatih is walking in a hospital and talking with Husseyn on the phone. Husseyn tells him he is ready. Fatih tells him to come to the clinic: The operation is about to end. If luck isn’t on our side, you’ll have to force things.
Husseyn struggles to get up and tells Neco to move it, Tayyar must be missing him.
Husseyn: His hand trembles to shoot and use an axe, he can’t kill an unconscious old man, and yet he thinks he’ll be the emperor. [Husseyn is referring to Fatih here, IMO.]
Neco: Well, he is his father, his heart won’t let him. That’s what I think. He wanted to do it other times but simply couldn’t. That’s why he must have chosen you. (Neco looks at Husseyn with great admiration here.). He knows you hate him with all your being.
Husseyn, annoyed: Why don’t you just go to hell with Tayyar and Fatih?
Fatih is pacing outside the operating room in the hospital. The doctor comes out and tells Fatih it was a very difficult surgery, but that he is stable now. It was a success.
Fatih: What joy!
Doctor: He’s going to recover soon.
Fatih: Where will they take him now? Intensive care, right?
Doctor: I can’t give out that information. He was very clear about that.
Fatih: What do you mean?
Doctor: For security reasons, your father was transferred by air ambulance to another facility. But don’t worry, he is doing very well.
Fatih is very animated now: How dare you, doctor? You yourself said it, you’re talking about my father. I want you to tell me where he is. He might need me!
Doctor: He gave me that order. I’m very sorry, I can’t tell you where we took him.
Fatih reacts and grabs the doctor with his hands: Where, where is he?
The doctor shakes his head.
On the road, Husseyn is enjoying being out in Istanbul, riding in a van. He tells Neco (who’s driving) he hadn’t been out for a long time.
Husseyn: It seems like a century has passed. It’s beautiful.
Neco gets a call from Fatih. Husseyn tells him to put it on speaker.
Husseyn asks Fatih if he’s killed his pig of a father yet.
Fatih: Unfortunately, he’s alive. There’s a change of plans.
Husseyn: What happened? The paranoid idiot ordered himself to be transferred somewhere else. No matter how much I pressured the doctor, he wouldn’t tell me where he is. So, now you’re going back to the mobile hospital in the warehouse.
Husseyn, chuckling: And what did you expect, Fatih, that Tayyar is new to this business? Of course he’d act like a fox.
Fatih: Stop trying to lecture me. Shut up. You’re going back to the warehouse immediately. Now!
Husseyn, now on the way back, tells Neco that the city looks wonderful: What do you say we go for a walk?
Neco: If someone recognizes you, I’ll be killed.
Husseyn: Don’t worry, nothing will happen. They won’t recognize me. Have some compassion.
Neco pulls up to park. He begs Husseyn not to do this, they will get into trouble. He tells him Fatih will be back soon.
Husseyn: Shut up. Let me enjoy this.
Then the camera moves back and we see that Husseyn is at Elvan’s home. He sees his mother bid Melike and family goodbye as they head out for the day. Hasan and Demet exchange sibling insults, and Melike hurries them along. Then he sees Burhan come out and Melike and Elvan giving him lots of love. Melike walks Burhan, who looks very happy.
Husseyn tells himself that he made serious mistakes.

Thank you Babachita!
I was hopeful for a min that Omer would put together the ambulance with the idea that Huso was alive! Why would they need an ambulance for a dead man???
Oh well, at least he discovered the doctor and the drugs!!! Hopefully Elif doesn't take anymore. She's too smart for this but she's doubting herself.
I guess it's too soon for Tayyar to die. It seems a little odd that Omer has said nothing about the attempted murder or arrested Tayyar and Fatih, but I guess he has no evidence....
Good point, Darcy! He wouldn’t need an ambulance for a body!
I really hope Elif stays off those pills!!!
We’re starting on the final stretch. I assume Tayyar will be with us throughout! Too bad!!!

Sorry for the delay on the recap. I'll try to get the recap up early Sunday. Thanks for your patience.
#145 part 1
Squad room. Ipek hands Omer a list of private ambulance companies in Istanbul. Pelin says they are trying to access records of private hospitals to identify ambulances that left at the time of the incident. Ipek says she will check public hospitals, too. Tolga wonders why they would take a corpse in an ambulance. They could have put it in the trunk of a car.
Omer thinks maybe Elif was brought in the ambulance. We have to follow this clue, he says, no matter how small. Osman didn’t mention the ambulance for no reason. Tolga asks, what if he really wanted an ambulance for himself? Ipek calls him out. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, Tolga? You go against everything we say. If you don’t want to investigate, let us do it. You can leave. He replies, oh, is it a crime to try to reason?
Arda enters with a list of the private hospitals. Omer looks at his watch and says, okay, I’m leaving. This is entrusted to you [all]. Ipek wonders why Omer is leaving when they found something so important. Why do you think, Arda replies. Elif. Pelo says, the only thing that motivates Omer is his love. She looks at Arda and adds, we don’t see something like that often, so it’s hard to understand. Arda responds that this seems like a challenge. He looks at Pelo, I’m warning you, you will regret this. Pelo says she’s not scared.
Elif wakes up and asks the ladies if she can help with breakfast. A woman tells her to take care of the tea. She notes that Elif slept better last night. No talking or crying in her sleep. Elif had no idea she was doing that. She says it must have been the meds she was taking. The woman says she shouldn’t take them anymore.
Elif goes to the bathroom to wash. She overhears a conversation. It’s Hande and her helper. You made me a promise, Hande whispers. Helper replies, I won’t do it. Don’t insist. Hande gives the helper a little push—you said you would do it, or do you want me to remind you? Helper objects, but we agreed on something else.
Hande says, tell your sister she has to bring it now, understand? It’s my business, I need more. You have to tell her. You’re making me angry. Helper whimpers, I don’t want my sister to get involved. Please understand. Do whatever you want, Hande replies, but I’m going to cut you open and gut you while you’re sleeping. Your sister will recite Al Fatiha for you. Elif looks horrified. She sneaks away.
Omer is buying things at a store. He has a photo of himself and Elif and tells the clerk this is very important. The clerk assures him that he will personally take care to make sure everything goes well. The older clerk comments, it’s hard to find such thoughtful lovers these days. I thought that was back in our time. She is a very lucky girl. May Allah let her appreciate this.
Omer smiles, what are you saying, Uncle? I’m the lucky one. An angel fell into my heart. The man replies, oh, she did it to you… you’re finished, son, finished. Omer says, honestly, Uncle, if need be, we become poets or even Mecnun (crazy poet of the legend, Mecnun and Leyla)—as long as it’s for the one we love. The man asks Omer if he wants tea. Omer says yes, and he smiles at the photo in his hand.
Melike and Fatma are setting up for breakfast. Melike asks Fatma about a cleaning job. Fatma says they called. I wouldn’t have told you if you hadn’t asked, so not to upset you. Did they find someone, Melike asks. Fatma nods yes. I told you this won’t be easy, they gave it to a foreign woman.
#145 part 2
Melike wonders, what am I going to do? I need money urgently. We paid the electric bill, thanks to you. God bless you, but that is another debt for me, too. The bills pile up one after the other, water, phone, internet, and the butcher and grocer. I want to work, but they won’t even accept me as a cleaning lady. Abla, give me some advice, what should I do? Fatma sighs, actually, there is another job, but I don’t know what you’ll think. Melike thinks she has no choice. She must find work. What kind of job is it? Fatma hesitates.
Breakfast prep continues in Elif’s cell. Someone is ready to scramble eggs. Elif asks, are you preparing an omelet? I can prepare something. A cellmate laughs, do you even know how to crack an egg? I’d like to see it. Elif takes off her sweater and replies, we’ll see if I know how. I’ll make it with herbs and potatoes.
Elif gets to work. She sees Hande and the helper exit the bathroom. Hande bangs on the door and shouts for a guard. My stomach hurts! I want to see the doctor. Hande is taken. Elif goes to see the helper, who is sitting in her bunk. Can I sit? Someone once told me that cruelty can be seen in a person’s eyes. I don’t think you’re like that. There’s love inside you. Where there is love, there is no cruelty. You don’t need to be afraid of Hande.
Helper fibs and says she’s not afraid of Hande. Elif says she’s seen some things. Don’t let her use you for her games. Count on me. I’ll always be by your side. Helper asks, why are you doing this for me? I betrayed you the other day. I told a lot of lies. You didn’t do it on purpose, Elif replies, you did it because you are afraid of Hande. Hande returns to the cell and sees Elif and Helper together. Elif goes back to cooking and Hande gives Helper the death stare.
Neco and Huso return to the warehouse. Fatih is there waiting. Where were you? Not your problem, Huso says. Fatih is ticked, I risk myself for you and you tell me it’s not my problem? I went for a walk, Huso snarks, are you my babysitter? Fatih says there are cameras, what would happen if someone saw you? Of course, Fatih will fix it. Fatih always fixes everything. Don’t rely on it. Follow the rules.
What rules, Huso asks, your rules? Listen, I could get out of this place if I wanted to. How will you do it without money, Fatih asks. Of course, you’re right, Huso replies, I forgot you’re from a family that kicks when others are down. There’s resentment in your veins but don’t worry, death will get the better of you. But you’re not death, Fatih says, from now on, you’ll be under my rules, and you won’t go out without my permission. I’m trying to find out where they took my father. First, we’ll finish him off and then you can do whatever you want. Huso nods and settles down.
Yard time at the prison. We hear Elmer’s song. A kite appears above the prison walls, and it has the photo of Elmer on it. So this is what Omer was up to. Elif is thrilled. Everyone is looking up at it. We see Omer flying the kite. He shouts—Elif! This is our first kite together. We’ll fly thousands of kites! We’ll write our names in the sky! The wind will wait for us, my love, don’t ever stop smiling, okay? Elif shouts back, Omer! Omer! I’m here. He responds, no, my love, you’re here… you’re in my heart. He puts his hand over his heart. Elif replies, you’re in my heart, too!
The gendarme asks Omer to get off from his car and move it before they get in trouble. Omer shouts his last “I love you”. Hande’s looking very sour. A guard comes into the yard and shouts—what’s going on? What are you looking at? She looks up and orders everyone inside. An inmate gripes, you never let us have any fun!
#145 part 3
Omer thanks the gendarme for his help. He doesn’t want to cause him any trouble. The gendarme asks him, how did you come up with this? Did you see it on the internet? I’ll have to do something like this for my girlfriend when I get back to my village. Maybe I should get engaged. Omer says, think about your love and use your imagination. Have a good day. The smile leaves Omer’s face when he thinks of Elif inside. Be strong he says to the absent Elif, there’s little left. Hang in there.
Back inside, a woman comments, what man would do that? My husband doesn’t even visit me. The other women complain about their husbands. They tell Elif she is very lucky. Elif says she’ll make coffee for everyone. Do you want cookies? A woman says, what cookies? We don’t have an oven here. Elif says she doesn’t need one. She’ll make halva, flour halva.
The women want to hear Elif’s story. How did you meet him? He’s a policeman, right? A woman comments, it’s like a movie. A policeman and a murderer fall in love. Another tells her to be quiet and let Elif talk. Someone else says that true love is hard to find. What do you say, Elif? Elif replies, you’re wrong, it’s not hard. Life wouldn’t exist without love, there would be no hope. Life has no meaning without love. Hande still has that sour look. She’s probably ticked that Elif is winning the cellmates over.
Ipek meets with Asli at an outdoor café. She doesn’t have much time since they are working on an important lead in Elif’s case. Asli says this is very important. She asks about the lead—will it help Elif get out? Ipek isn’t sure yet, so she doesn’t want to give false hope. Asli doesn’t care, she thinks any hope is good.
Asli gives her info. I spoke to Filiz. She doesn’t know my aunt is her bio mother. She always lied to her about her past; she’s always believed the same story everyone tells her and repeats it like a parrot. There’s still more. My maternal aunt has a daughter who is a total gossip. I tried to get some info from her about my aunt. She told me a very interesting story. Back then, they wouldn’t tell children things like this. My father and aunt (Nedret) had a falling out for a while. Everyone thought it was because of my mother, but one night my mother couldn’t take it anymore and told my aunt (her sister) everything. My aunt (Nedret) had an affair…
Ipek is interested. Asli continues, my father considered it a matter of honor, and they fell out because my aunt did something like that while she was married. Is that all, Ipek asks, that’s good, but I don’t think it will help. Who was Nedret Hanim having an affair with? When did your dad break off with her? Did they get back together just for business? You have to find that out. Perfect, Asli replies, it will be a pleasure to find out. Ipek leaves.
There’s a knock at Nilufer’s hotel door. She opens and there are a bunch of stuffed animals and other little gifts. There’s a note: beautiful girl, you’re angry at me again, and you’re absolutely right. I can’t always expect you to forgive me. Maybe you won’t want me to be the father of your baby, but as a man who grew up without a father, I won’t let my child experience the same things, whether you allow it or not. I will always be there for you and your baby because you are my precious ones. Nilu takes a onesie from a bag. She smiles for a moment and then worries.
Fatih leaves the hotel and talks to a henchie. Keep an eye on Nilufer Hanim, she needs to be safe at all times. Fatih looks up at the hotel and says, one day, if I become a hero, I’ll come and knock on your door, beautiful girl.
#145 part 4
Oh no, Melike and Fatma are meeting with Mumtaz. [he doesn’t realize who they are?] He tells them you’ll have the money when you deliver the package. Melike asks what’s in the package. Fatma pipes up, that doesn’t matter to us. Does a mail carrier open the letters? Exactly, Mumtaz says, this job is like being a mail carrier. Think about how you’ll make a mother who’s been waiting for her child completely happy, and then you’ll get your money. If you can’t, just tell me.
Melike looks troubled, but Fatma jumps in—we’ll do this. We need the money. Melike reluctantly nods yes. Mumtaz says he’s got a job and they can start today. What do you think? Once again Fatma answers they’ll do it. It’s a deal.
Squad room. The crew wait for the rental lists from ambulance companies. Ipek returns to the station. Omer asks her where she was. She says she went to check on Yagiz. Pelo announces, Omer is buying my dinner, Arda my desert, and Tolga my tea. And Ipek, you can clean my house. Arda asks her, what’s up with that? She replies, I found the ambulance! Everyone heads out.
The inmates are out in the yard again. Elif is writing. A couple of ladies come over. Your face is smiling, one woman says to Elif. Your komiser came, you fed us sweets! Elif asks, has anyone seen Ebru? [I finally know the helper’s name!] Elif goes inside to find her.
Elif finds Ebru in her bunk. She’s turned away from Elif, and she tells Elif to go away. Elif asks her what happened. Let me see you. Ebru has a black eye and bloody lip. Elif gasps. Did Hande do this? Elif wants her to tell. Ebru says that Hande is selling drugs inside. How does she do that, Elif asks. Ebru explains, I used to carry them for her because I was afraid of her. I don’t want to do it anymore. Now she’s trying to bring drugs in from the outside again. She asked for my help, but I told her no. Elif asks if Ebru knows where Hande hides the drugs. If you tell me, we can get rid of her. Ebru is afraid.
Melike is upset. She tells Fatma that this is the kind of work that Omer is investigating. The one that Hatice went to prison for. Fatma says it’s not. They go by plane for that. This is simple. It’s not a crime. Then she adds, well… maybe there’s something illegal. Melike blows up—of course it’s illegal! I won’t do it! I’ll find another job.
Fatma tries to talk her into it. You’d be paid little if you even got a cleaning job. You have two children and another one fell from the sky! Allah, Allah, what will they eat? How will they dress? How will they study? Be brave, be smart. You lived a dog’s life with Huseyin for years. You’ll live a dog’s life of your own if you’re a coward. It’s hard to survive if you’re alone in this world. Do that job, earn your money, and then you can rest. In the meantime, you can keep looking for cleaning work. Will Melike do it?
Omer questions an ambulance driver. Do you remember the people you transported that day? He’s sorry, he doesn’t remember. We transport a lot of people every day. Today we transported 5 people. I can’t remember them all. They question a woman next. I had the day off, she replies, better ask someone else. The manager comes over. Arda tells him they need the names of the patients and the personnel who used the ambulance on this date. The manager says it’s confidential. They need an official order. Omer tries to talk him into it. The manager stands firm.
Omer and crew leave. Pelo says let’s get the order. Omer says there’s no time. Ipek says, talk to the driver. Omer asks, you know who the driver was? Ipek says the secretary she spoke to was a chatterbox. She even gave me his address.
#145 part 5
Melike and Fatma wait at a bus stop to receive the package. Melike begins to panic. Fatma tells her this isn’t dangerous. Then why are we doing this in secret, Melike asks. Let’s get out of here before someone discovers us and we go to jail. Mumtaz brings the package. Deliver it in an hour. I’ll wait for you in the same place as before. He opens his jacket. You will receive your money after you deliver. Melike takes the package. The ladies get on a bus.
Guards come into Elif’s cell and announce a search. Hande looks alarmed. The guards search her bunk. Hande glares at Elif and Ebru. The guards find Hande’s stash and they take her away. The ladies think Hande will probably get an extended for this. Elif tells Ebru not to be afraid.
Hande is furious with the guard. Why did you sell me out? You’re going to pay for that. What are you talking about, the guard says, Elif reported it to the warden. She’s a snitch.
Huso’s in a mood and calls out, Neco, bring the bottle we bought the other day and put on some music. Instead, Fatih comes and tells Huso there’s no time for that now, Grandpa. We have to work. You’ll finish your cousin off and then we’ll both toast. Huso perks up. The moment of revenge has arrived. It’s time to collect from my cousin. He puts on his prosthetic.
Omer and co. arrive at the ambulance driver’s house. The driver, Remzi, is alarmed. What happened? Did something bad happen? Omer says it’s nothing bad, we have some questions. Omer asks, you worked as a driver for a private ambulance company, right? Remzi says yes. They sit and Omer says, we are listening. Poor guy looks panicked.
Fatih and Huso are at a location. Your cousin is there, Fatih says. Huso asks him for a gun. Or am I going to strangle him with my bare hands? Fatih hands over the weapon. Finish this. Huso worries how he will get past the guards with his fake leg. Fatih tells him Neco will clear the way. Go in when you get the signal. Huso gives Fatih condolences in advance.
Hande is brought back to the cell. Ebru is frightened. Hande glares at Elif’s empty bunk.
Neco takes care of the guards and gives the signal to Huso, who hobbles towards the house.
Omer speaks with Remzi. The incident was on the news. There was a big fire. You remember the news? Remzi says, yes, the secretary told us about it. She was surprised, but that’s way of the world. Problems like this happen every day. Omer explains, they are blaming an innocent person now. That innocent person will spend years in prison, isn’t that a sin? Remzi says that’s a great sin.
Omer continues, from what I understand, you’re just someone trying to make a living. You go wherever they tell you to go. We’re trying to find out what happened that night. You say this well, Remzi replies, but if I talk without consulting my boss, they’ll fire me. It’s forbidden to tell. Nobody knows we’re here, Omer says, relax. We won’t tell what you say. Just tell us what you know. You won’t see us again. Omer asks, Remzi, you went to the cabin that night. Remzi says yes. Our guys are on to something!
Huso enters the house and walks through the room. He finds Tayyar asleep in bed. Huso stands over him and smiles. He points the gun at Tayyar’s head.
My goodness! What is he waiting for?
And we are out.
Thanks, Dondi!
I'm starting to remember how much I hate Fatma.... that woman is dumb dumb dumb.
The kite with Elmer was too cute! I'm glad Elif is winning her cellmates over. Maybe the tides will turn.
Tolga said exactly what I said! Why would you need an ambulance for a dead body?? I love it when the characters address my thoughts and I'm not out in left field by myself! I'm still wondering if Tolga and Ipek will be a thing, they are getting thrown together more and more...
I'll have 146 up in a little bit.
Someone let Hande go and now she’s in the bathroom bugging Elif! She tells Elif the guards just questioned her, added 5 years to her sentence and sent her back to her bunk! She says Elif will pay for what she did and an undaunted Elif says ‘oh really, tell me, are you going to hit me too, the way you did Ebru?’ But Hande says nope I have a much nobler gift for you, and she stabs a no longer so smug Elif in the stomach!!!!
Omer is still questioning the ambulance driver, Remzi:
Omer: Do you remember when you went to that cabin? Did you take this girl there? Look at her very carefully.
Remzi: No, we didn’t take anyone there, but we did take someone out.
Omer: Who did you take out?
Remzi: It was a man.
Omer: And what was he like - young or old?
Remzi: Was he tall, like you? Gray-haired. He was a very strong man with an amputated leg. I think it was cut off with an axe. He was covered in blood.
Omer, Arda and Pelo are Impactada!!!
Pelo: I don’t believe it.
Arda: Could it be him?
Omer: Brother
Remzi: he was bleeding a lot and wouldn’t stop screaming.
Omer: Of course, it all makes sense. They made us think my brother was dead, and they cut off his leg for the DNA.
Pelo: What did you do then? Where did you take him? Is he still alive?
Remzi: We left him at a hospital, but I don’t remember which one. I don’t know if he’s alive or dead. I have no idea.
Omer: Remzi, please try to remember. Which hospital did you take him to?
Remzi: Believe me, I don’t remember. I worked those two days without sleeping. I had to cover for my friend. I was only thinking about taking him to the hospital and going back home. In our job, we go to many hospitals every day.
Omer: All right. We have to find out where that ambulance went.
Arda: Omer, wait, wait a second. I could be wrong. Maybe now he’ll remember. Remzi, take a look. Was this the man you carried in the ambulance?
Remzi: Whatever I say, I won’t be sure. I didn’t look at his face. I don’t remember.
Huso holds a gun over an unconscious Tayyar ranting: ‘If you were looking at me, you’d be saying, “Shoot, cousin.” What are you waiting for? But let me tell you something: if I weren’t a sentimental person, I’d tell you to do it. No - one bullet. Guess where I’m aiming right now: at your head. What are you going to tell me now, you bastard? Your time is over. You’ll go to the bottom of hell. Go to hell and stay there forever, bastard.’ He doesn’t shoot but Tayyar’s machine flatlines anyway…. maybe Tayyar will die and Huso can save a bullet?
Hande leaves a convulsing Elif on the floor saying: ‘This will be your pathetic fate, princess. You were born in a palace, and now you’re dying in the filthy bathroom of a prison.’
Fatih is waiting with his right-hand man in the van, and he’s concerned that he doesn’t hear a shot, especially when he sees Huso coming back saying to hurry and go! Fatih wants to know if he shot him and Huso says unfortunately, the damned angel of death beat me to it. Fatih is understandably unnerved because he knows daddy has more lives than a cat! And sure enough, the underground medical team rushes in with a crash kit and save Tayyar!! Can someone please explain to me why people who are terrified of Tayyar keep saving him instead of letting him die?
The team says good night to Remzi and Omer assures him they won’t report him or cause him to lose his job since he helped them. They tell Tolga and Ipek about the developments and everyone questions whether Huso could really be alive, but they don’t know, they have to investigate. Start checking all the doctors, private clinics, and hospitals. Let’s find out whether they know anything about a man with a severed leg.
Everyone leaves to their various tasks and Arda and Omer are left alone.
Arda: Do you think he would dare do something like that? Would he be capable of sacrificing a leg after everything he put you through?
Omer: A man who has nothing left to lose can risk anything. Anything.
Elif is still whimpering inside the bathroom but apparently, it’s locked. She’s unable to call out when someone knocks and eventually loses consciousness. Meanwhile, the women wonder why the bathroom door is locked again? They must be doing maintenance. They could at least have put up a sign. Why don’t they tell us beforehand? Better put on a diaper.
Stupid Fatma is still dragging a reluctant Melike into who knows what kind of shady business. This woman is completely devoid of common sense, her oldest daughter is dead, her other daughter is in jail, and she still thinks it’s okay to do this… Melike tries to back out again, but Fatma pushes her ahead. They deliver the briefcase full of who knows what to some dude.
Arda is driving Omer somewhere and he’s uncertain Omer should be doing this, but as usual Omer does what Omer does.
Arda: Don’t you think it could be a problem for us to show up at this hour of the night?
Omer: He can do whatever he wants, but he’s going to hear me out.
Arda: I don’t understand why Tayar would help Hüseyin.
Omer: Arda, look, we don’t know if he did. Maybe that idiot Fatih planned it. Only God knows what’s in his mind, and of course you mustn’t forget that.
Pelo: All right, this is what I understand: he saved your life out of love for Nilu and consideration for Elif, right? But why would he help Hüseyin? What would be his purpose?
Omer: I don’t know. I have no idea, but I’ll find out soon.
Arda: Well, good luck.
Omer: Listen, guys, we can’t let our guard down. Tell Tolga and Ipek that too. We can’t trust anyone. Tayyar has people everywhere.
Omer gets out of the car and Pelo moves to the front seat.
Pelo: Arda, what if Hüseyin is alive? Think about that. Of course, Aunt Elvan would be very happy, because she aged 10 years after the funeral.
Arda: I’m not sure. I think it’ll get complicated if he’s alive.
Omer is at the home of someone I recognized but couldn’t for the life of me remember who he is. I was pretty sure he’s involved in the court system somehow though and later in the conversation Omer refers to him as the prosecutor, so I call him that. He asks what Omer is doing there at that hour and wonders if something bad happened. He’s not willing to talk when he realizes that Omer is there to talk about Elif, but Omer begs and he finally relents and lets him in for 5 mins.
Prosecutor: Have a seat. I’ll close the door. My wife is sleeping. Tell me, Captain, what’s going on?
Omer: First of all, whatever I tell you stays between us.
Prosecutor: Be clear about that, Captain.
Omer: Sir, you know I have always believed that Elif was framed by someone, and I was right. What I found out today makes me believe there is no murder case. Apparently, this whole thing was staged, and nobody is dead. My brother may be alive.
Prosecutor: Alive? How is that possible, Captain?
Ebru is looking for Elif. No one knows where she is or if she was called away and Hande just says, ‘Why are you worried? One of her many visitors must have come. You know, the princess isn’t in prison - she’s in a hotel, for the love of God.’ Ebru continues to ask more cellmates about Elif but no one has seen her. Hande approaches and spits more poison.
Hande: What’s wrong with you? Are you looking for your favorite? Listen, do you think I’m going to get revenge on you for turning me in? I can smell your fear, bitch.
Ebru: I thought they’d transfer you to another cell.
Hande: Don’t feel so safe. And did you also tell them we were working together? Ah, let me guess - you expect her to pay your debts? You know she’s rich. Do you think she’ll help with your mother’s therapy, idiot?
Thankfully, they are interrupted by someone finding Elif and calling for help! Everyone runs in and Elif is unresponsive but I’m sure she’s just unconscious and not dead… sorry, my beanie isn’t working well enough today to wonder if the protag is going to die.
Back to Omer and the Prosecutor.
Prosecutor: He didn’t even recognize Hüseyin Demir in the photo. What if he’s wrong?
Omer: How many leg amputation cases could there be in a month in Istanbul? And by coincidence, that driver comes across one?
Prosecutor: Don’t change the subject, Captain. You didn’t understand me,
Omer: Sir. Look, I don’t want to argue with you. I came here to clarify this. I just want my brother’s grave opened as soon as possible so we can see who is inside.
Prosecutor: You haven’t given me enough reason to open your brother’s grave. Your emotions are interfering in this case too much. After all, you’re family. Isn’t that true?
Omer: Fine, then I’m not asking you as a police officer. I’m asking you as family, as the victim’s brother. I want information. I have the right. I want the DNA report, and if you, Mr. Prosecutor, fail to do your duty, you will face the consequences.
Elif is rushed to the infirmary and she’s bleeding too heavily; they can’t take care of her there. They need to take her to the hospital urgently. The doctor says to inform the warden in a hurry and put her on IV fluids. He tells Elif to hang on and he seems to be genuinely concerned for her wellbeing unlike the old shrink.
Omer leaves the Prosecutor’s house and finds Ipek waiting on front.
Omer: What are you doing here?
Ipek: I left Tolga at your house. I spoke to Pelin, and she told me you were here. I have your car. We could go to the station together. Are you okay? After what we found out today, that your brother may still be alive?
Omer: I don’t know. There’s simply no time to think about how I feel.
Ipek: What did the prosecutor say? Will he let you open the grave?
Omer: Look, you’ll think I’m paranoid, but at this point I trust no one - not even the prosecutor.
Ipek: So, what do you think? That he’s working for Tayar.
Omer: It wouldn’t surprise me. Well, he said he’d get the permit, but we can’t lose sight of him. And we have to keep an eye on the forensic officers and everyone else. We can’t leave any loose ends. We can’t afford that. Get in, I’ll take you.
Ebru confronts Hande about stabbing Elif, it looks like everyone is sick of Hande’s BS. The whole room turns on Hande and next thing you know, there’s a group beat down!!!
Omer and Ipek are still driving and Ipek hangs up the phone telling someone she understands. She tells Omer that Arda and Pelin have started checking the hospitals, but they haven’t found anything yet, it’s just the beginning. They have to wait. Omer says they need to examine all the evidence again and see if they missed something. Ipek thinks maybe they can get something from the man who shot Osman. They are interrupted by a phone call and it’s the doctor that I think might actually be a good guy! His name is Dr. Koray and he tells Omer that he’s calling because he didn’t know who else to call, Elif was attacked!!! Omer slams on the brakes and asks if she’s okay. Dr. Koray says she’s alive. She lost a lot of blood and urgently has to go to the hospital. The prosecutor isn’t here, and the warden hasn’t given them permission to send her. (Maybe the warden isn’t a good person.) Omer thanks the doctor for calling and says he’s on the way. He hangs up and orders Ipek out of the car instead of telling her what’s going on, or I don’t know, taking her for backup. She leaves after asking in vain a couple times what is happening.
Dr. Koray is doing what he can without the permission to transfer Elif but her pulse is weak and she needs blood. She has internal bleeding. She needs surgery urgently. Where is the warden, he demands of the nurse. Is it that hard to sign a permission slip? Go find him. I was right about the Warden. He’s in his office trying to call Tayyar!!!! (Why and how does that one man have SO many people in his pocket??? I know I shouldn’t ask but I told you my beanie is on the fritz.) Omer storms into the office and asks WTH the man is doing and why he hasn’t signed with Elif’s life in the balance. The Warden plays dumb and claims he didn’t realize it was urgent. Omer says don’t talk, just sign the paper!
Omer storms out and goes to the doctor where Elif is.
Omer: Elif, how is she?
Dr. Koray: We should have already gone to the hospital. I couldn’t convince the warden. He didn’t sign the permit, and I couldn’t reach Elif’s lawyer.
Omer: I just spoke to him, and I know he’ll do it. How did this happen?
Dr: Koray: She was stabbed. The attack was carried out by an inmate who blames Elif for her sentence. It was revenge. She lost a lot of blood and is having internal bleeding. She must go into surgery immediately.
Omer: Doctor, listen, there’s no time. We have to get her to the hospital now. Help me. Open the door. Let’s get her out of here, please. (The good doctor helps)
Omer goes to lift Elif and she wakes.
Omer to Elif: My love, beautiful one, don’t fall asleep, my love. Yes, everything will be fine.
Elif: I don’t care if I die, as long as it’s in your arms.
Omer: You’re not going anywhere; did you hear me? Did you already forget that we’re going to travel the whole world together?
Omer asks the doctor to open the door now, quickly, and he does; but several other prison officials try to stop Omer because he’s not following rules. The wicked Warden arrives on the scene and says the permit is ready, Captain, but you can’t take a prisoner out of the jail like this. We should wait for the ambulance. Omer says to move aside, there’s no time. The warden says this is against the law, but Omer doesn’t care. Elif says she loves him and passes out again. Omer is ready to lose his mind demanding an ambulance NOW!
Fatih and Huso are back at the makeshift hospital and Fatih is fit to be tied!!!
Fatih: I can’t believe it; I can’t believe it. What happened? Did you feel guilty? It was as simple as aiming at his head and shooting him.
Huso: I was going to do it, but the alarm started ringing. His heart stopped, and I didn’t know what to do. The machines started making noise, his heart failed, and I didn’t know what to do.
Fatih: Tayyar Dundar, that dog, is almost immortal. They must have revived his heart again. (that’s kind of like what I said earlier, but more colorful)
Huso: Damn me, I failed this time. I’m sorry.
Fatih: So, you’re sorry? After everything I did for you, you say you’re sorry? Do you know how much I risked to save you? Do you know how much I put on the line for you to fail me now? This is what happens to me for not working with professionals. But you will do it now, believe me, you will.
Huso: We’ll do it, Fatih. I’ll save you. I’ll save everyone from this miserable life. This time I won’t fail. Let me at him one more time. I’ll send him straight to hell, I swear.
An ambulance was found! And it’s rushing to the hospital with sirens blazing. Elif’s heart stops on the way, but she’ll be fine I promise! Omer might not be though; he looks like he’s about to crumble.
It’s way dark outside and Melike is worried about not being home but a courier’s job is long hours I guess, cuz they still have to meet up with Mumtaz again, Fatma is horrible but Melike is an idiot for letting her drag her into this. Fatma says they’ll tell Elvan that they went to see a relative who lives on the other side of the bridge. They’ll say there was a lot of traffic. Melike says if they don’t kill us first, but Fatma is unphased, they are about to finish this. They’ll take their money and go home.
They go inside what looks like a poker den and Mumtaz signals them to follow him. Fatma says we delivered the briefcase to the address you gave us. Give us our money, we want to go home. But there’s a problem, of course!
Mumtaz: Who do you think you are, trying to deceive me?
Melike: Ah, we didn’t deceive you. We haven’t done anything wrong.
Mumtaz: Then where is the briefcase? Where is the briefcase? Where did you leave it?
Fatma: We took it to the address you gave us. We gave it to a man.
Mumtaz: My client doesn’t say that. He’s been yelling at me for an hour. He wants what belongs to him.
Melike: I swear on everything sacred, a man appeared, we gave him the briefcase, and then he left. We don’t have the briefcase.
Mumtaz: I don’t care. You will bring me that briefcase or you’ll pay for it. Both of you, get out.
Fatma and Melike look terrified and I’m wondering which one of the bad men is truly setting them up, is it Mumtaz? Or the ‘client’? Or did they really give the bag to the wrong person??? I’m thinking it’s a Tayyar set up.
Elif arrives at the hospital, still alive and with Omer clinging to her and holding her hand. He wants to stay with her and begs the doctors, but they need him to go away so they can operate! They tell him to wait outside.
What seems to be some time later, Omer is pacing the hallway when a nurse comes out. He asks if the surgery is over but it’s not. Asli and Nedret arrive and Asli asks how Elif is, Omer tells her she’s still in surgery. Miracles do happen and Nedret actually manages to refrain from making a snarky comment!!! Omer says over and over again that she’ll be okay, trying to convince himself as much as the others, I’m sure.
Nilu is walking down the street and Fatih catches up to her. She is not happy to see him!
Nilu: If I’m not answering the phone, there’s a reason. I don’t want to see you.
Fatih: Just give me one second.
Nilu: For once in your life, please respect me. I made my decision, Metin.
Fatih: Don’t call me Metin, it upsets me.
Nilu: It’s your name, isn’t it?
Fatih: I have bad news. Elif was stabbed.
Nilu drops her coffee: What? What? What are you saying? Don’t scare me. Tell me she’s okay.
Fatih: Calm down. She’s alive, but she’s not okay. That’s what they told me at the hospital.
Drama queen Nedret is back and wailing in the hallway! I can’t help but think that she shows so much emotion for her niece, but her daughter calls her ‘Senora’ and has never even been told of their relationship despite growing up with her!! Anyway, back to the doctor’s arrival as the surgery ends.
Omer: Doctor, how is she?
Doctor: Well, the operation was long and complicated, but we did the best we could.
Nedret: What does “we did the best we could” mean?
Doctor: Her liver and gallbladder were too badly damaged, so we had to remove the gallbladder, and there was also damage to her uterus. Her condition is not good for now, but she is stable. We’re taking her to intensive care.
Omer: Doctor, tell us, will you be able to save her?
Doctor: We’ll do whatever is necessary. It depends on the next few hours. We have to see how she responds to the treatment. That will determine her future.
Nedret starts sobbing again and it struck me that ‘crazy’ Asli took all of this pretty stoically. Omer tries to shut down the despair.
Omer: We have to stay calm. Elif is a very strong woman. She’ll get through this.
Asli turns to him and grabs his shoulders: Omer, Elif will be okay, right?
Omer looks to Asli and summons all the hope he can. Yes, he assures her, she’ll be okay. Asli nods and walks back to her bench.
Omer’s phone rings and he answers. It’s Arda and he walks away a little. Arda wants to know if Elif is okay and he’s pissed that no one told them what happened. He says they are heading there but Omer says No!!! Arda wants to argue but Omer wants him to stay and work and find the evidence to prove Huso is alive! It’s the only way to keep Elif from going back to that hell.
The doctor returns and approaches Asli.
Doctor: Miss Asli
Asli: Is Elif in intensive care? Can I see her now?
Doctor: Precisely now... but there’s something I want to discuss with you. Elif was two months pregnant. I did the best I could. The baby couldn’t be saved. I’m sorry. (OH NO!!!!)
Asli starts crying, though calmly. Omer walks back over; he heard nothing about the baby. Asli looks to him with tears in her eyes and they hold eye contact for several seconds, but she says nothing.
Sure enough, Tayyar is alive and awake…damn this man is indestructible! The doctor says we couldn’t find the reason for the cardiac arrest, but everything seems fine now. The heart is fine, and the transplanted kidney also seems to be doing well. Looks like you’ll outlive all of us, sir. Tayyar says that’s his intention. Not even the angel of death could defeat him. He’s escaped several times. Mumtaz arrives to drop the next bomb…
Mumtaz: Mr. Tayyar, there’s news from the courthouse.
Tayyar: From your face, it looks like something I won’t like hearing. Come on, tell me. My heart is strong. It can take it.
Mumtaz: The prosecutor requested that your brother’s grave be opened.
Tayyar: Where did he get that from now? Why would he... do you think Husein Demir could be alive? Find Fati now. Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up!
Thanks Darcy, that was a wonderful read. Love your asides. Fatma is an idiot, as is Melike for going along with the job. I also agree that Nedret is way more concerned about Elife than her own daughter. I actually wondered, before we learned that her adopted daughter ( whose name I've forgotten ) was actually her bio daughter, if Elif was her daughter.
