TAN CERCA DE TI, NACE EL AMOR #19 Part 1
Notes from the Couch
This episode should have been called BOMBSHELL!!!!
Anyway,
Eleazar tells his father that Joaquín did nothing to make up for him not getting to start in the last race. Facundo makes the point that he told him so. Eleazar insists he will not do anything crooked to get the starter position. Facundo tells him that he won't let his situation stay the way it is. He calls Mario.
Facundo goes to see Mario and thinks he has news for him telling him how Luis incurred a large debt with a Miami bank that is demanding immediate payment. Surprise! Mario knows all about it and says that is what happens when the pillar of a project crumbles. Luis died on that plane. The deal in Miami fell through and the bank simply is making its move. He explains to Luis that he knows all about it because he moves pieces (chess pieces) and also moves players. He knows that Joaquín wouldn't be on that plane. He pulled enough strings so Luis felt sufficiently pressured to be on that plane. He also decided that Facundo would execute the work he wanted done on that plane. Facundo is upset that he killed innocent people. Mario wants to know if it hurts more that he killed innocents or that the man that he wanted six feet under is still alive. Mario assures him that he will help him to finish Joaquín off but Facundo has to decide if he wants him dead or would he prefer that he be on his knees without his team, without prestige, without a name. Facundo wants him destroyed. Mario hands him a photo that he thinks will be like a bullet going straight through Joaquín's heart.
The new accountant Villar has arrived at Joaquín's office. He looks at the loan agreement and the company balance. He acknowledges that the debt is a large one. Joaquín has no idea why Luis was dealing with that bank. He needs to know how they are going to cover the debt with only his portion of the company's capital. He refuses to touch Luis' children's portion. The accountant will get back to him when he has a strategy.
Joaquín tells Kassandra that he remembers Luis mentioning a little problem he wanted to deal with in Miami himself. That was the real reason he was going. It was not to have a romantic getaway with Susana. He needed to deal with the bank. He also was nervous and tense before he left. He starts to get more upset and Kassandra tells him to calm down. He concludes that he really has no idea of who Luis really was. What did he do with the money? Why couldn't he trust him? He leaves. Kassandra picks up a photo of Luis and Joaquín. She tells Luis that they haven't found his body and she hopes it remains buried with the rest of what happened.

Kassandra returns to her office where Facundo is waiting for her and grinning like the Cheshire cat. He came to see Joaquín and her but decided to enjoy his "fun" visit first. She tells him to go have his fun with Consuelo. She has no time for his nonsense. He assures her it isn't nonsense. He has something in his possession that could answer all of the questions about Joaquín's great friend and "brother." He shows her the photo. It is of her and Luis kissing. She asks if he got it from Suárez. He isn't saying because all that matters is that he has it!!
He found it interesting that Kassandra didn't shed a tear when Luis died in the plane crash. He knows that she got involved with Luis to black mail him. She threatened to ruin his marriage and his reputation. Luis became indebted to buy her silence. This explains, also, why she was at the hangar when Luis was leaving for Miami. She went to threaten him. Kassandra asks how he saw her at the hangar. Facundo makes it clear that he has a lot of secrets. She informs him that she didn't end up with any of the money because Suárez left the country with it. Facundo concludes that Suárez was her accomplice. She makes it clear that Joaquín cannot find out about this. He says her secret is safe with him because he doesn't want to tell Joaquín . . . now. He leaves smiling all the way.
Isaura shows up to visit with her daughter but Kassandra is too busy. Isaura has a coffee with her old friend Iván instead. They talk about Luis. Iván says he was always was too formal and "by the rules" for him. She assures him that Luis was no Tibetan monk. Joaquín overhears the comment and asks what she means. At a loss of what to say, she makes up a story about how Luis went to the casino to gamble frequently and the last time she saw him there he was almost out of control. That could explain the debt. Joaquín finds it impossible to believe but she goes on and on about how it is true and how he was probably too embarrassed to own up to it. She also tells him that Kassandra doesn't know.

Later, Isaura tells her daughter how she had to convince Joaquín that Luis was a gambler. At least, he didn't find out the truth. Kassandra tells her about the visit from Facundo and the photo. It was taken when she (Isaura) insisted that they entrap Luis so they could blackmail him. Kassandra says she only came onto him that once. Luis didn't want it to happen. They never were lovers. That photo would be enough of a stain on his reputation to make him pay. Isaura says Luis fell like an idiot for their ploy. Kassandra wonders how the photo that Suárez used to threaten Luis with got into Facundo's hands. Isaura wonders if Suárez gave it to him. Kassandra breaks the news to her that Suárez was supposedly going to hang on to the money until he could find a way of adding the money to their accounts with out raising suspicions. Instead, he fled the country with the money. She finds it interesting that Facundo said that he saw her at the hangar the day of the flight. She thinks she might have seen him because there was a mechanic who was checking out the wing. He could have possibly had something to do with the accident.
Back at the Mansion
Dani tells Vero that she is being harassed at school. They call her "Furry MIranda" because she doesn't remove the hair from her legs. She doesn't know what to do. She asks Vero to help her out. She so misses her mom. Vero will get permission from Joaquín to help her. Dani hugs Vero.
Meli finds a USB and watches a recording of her with her father. He asks her how her day is. She replays the question and tells him. Vero overhears her talking and excitedly calls Joaquín to come home.
Young Love
Majo and Diego talk in the garden. She is upset that both of her parents are like teenagers. Nothing is panning out here so maybe she should go back to Spain.
He tries to talk her out of it saying they have a better climate and better beaches in Mexico. They laugh. He adds that she also has a job and friends. He feels like he has known her forever, She feels the same way.
One of Vale's friends Rebe is interested in Diego. Vale gives her the go-ahead saying there is nothing between them. He offers to take Rebe out on his motorcycle and makes a point of completely ignoring Vale.
Yaneli gets all decked out to go after Hugo but all he can talk about is that Vale and Eleazar are not together so he is going to pursue Vale as hard as he can. Yaneli tells him to look her up when he is tired of begging the little rich girl and leaves. He doesn't even notice.
At the shop, Vale helps Hugo with some motorcycle info that her dad taught her and makes a big deal of sitting really close to him so Eleazar sees them. Hugo has no idea of what is going on.

Jarifa, your superb recap was the perfect accompaniment to this shock and awe episode. You enlightened and illuminated conversations I could not fully comprehend. "Bombshell" indeed!
Mario is a masterful manipulator, pulling the marionette strings ending in disaster, betrayal and death. "...she (Isaura) insisted that they entrap Luis so they could blackmail him..." was startling but it shouldn't have been, should it? She is also heartless and vile but a far less effective and intelligent version.
"Kassandra returns to her office where Facundo is waiting for her and grinning like the Cheshire cat" was perfect. I hate that he seemingly now has the upper hand. At least Kassandra has a (correct) notion that Facundo may have had something to do with the crash. She may end up threatening him should he decide to spill her secret to Facundo.
Meli watching Luis on the USB was touching. Glad Vero was able to help Miranda; thank heavens her watchful eyes are looking out for the girls.
Eleazar has such a nasty sneer; I just cannot warm up to him. I do have a (begrudging) respect in that he "...insists he will not do anything crooked to get the starter position". He is not his father's son in that regard.
Too many little games between Vale and Eleazar sparking jealousy which are getting tiresome. Hugo just can't/won't see things clearly and doesn't deserve Yaneli.
Majo is wise beyond her years and is the most interesting of the younger set here. Diego isn't worthy, at least not yet. :)

I realized from the visual That a lot was happening, but your recap revealed the conversations .
The biggest surprise to me was that Isaura is much worse than a greedy , interferring, pushy mother. She pushed Kass into attempting to seduce Luis to blackmail him , and she and Kass and Suarez were plotting together before Suarez took the money and ran. yikes She seems to be at the center of this whole messy mess.
Amazed that Facundo expressed to creepy Mario that he was sorry that innocents died ...that surprised me .

Thanks Jarifa, that was an outstanding read. And a shocking episode. I think Kassandra was the most shocking. I knew her mother was pushy and interested in money more than anything but I did think Kassandra really had feelings for him and was really helpful in his business. I figured she’d be the one to help him out of his troubles and it turns out she caused them.
So Mario wanted Luis gone! And used Facundo to do it. Another shock, Facundo feels guilty for killing innocent people. So he must think Joaquin is not innocent. I wonder what he could have done to make Facundo hate him so much. And why didn’t he feel guilty about killing the piolet and anyone else. He was fine with their deaths.
I almost bought Isaura’s gambling story, but Joaquin was so disbelieving I wasn’t 100% sure. But Kassandra and her mom set Luis up to bribe him.
I guess I can give Eleazar points for wanting to do things the right way. He’ll be battling his dad though. Maybe he’ll turn out to be a hero in this.

Jarifa, I continue to marvel at your recaps. How do you do it? Are you a native Spanish speaker? Your depth of comprehension is excellent and I am so grateful to you for the recaps. I really like how your comprehension is so nuanced and you understand so many of the idiomatic expressions and slang words.
I have studied Spanish and still only pick up about 60 % of the dialogue. Thank you explaining all that's going on with the young people. I suppose I miss quite a bit of what they are saying due to lack of interest. I am deeply interested in what the main (adult) characters are doing and saying, but the I'm trying to get interested in the young romance.
You are truly gifted and very much appreciated.
on another note, at times it seems like Facundo is really interested in Vero. I hope her naivety doesn't make her too susceptible to his schemes and Plans. I'm waiting for Julian Gil to show his face. Does anyone understand who he is and what he is trying to do? and his connection to Facundo?

Diana, I was so shocked that we have several different levels of criminal activity and evil going on here. It was unbelievable how they wove all of that in one episode. I definitely want to know what Mario's beef is with Joaquín that it would necessitate the murder of his partner.

I really don't care about them either but they are sure giving the kids a lot of screen time. We know nothing about Mario except that he likes to talk in chess terms (LOL) and that he shares a hatred for Joaquín with Facundo. Why? We do not know for either of them. I cannot wait to see Julián Gil.

If I had to give a title to this episode it wouldbe :Too Much Facundo!!
The Beginning and the End
At the beginning, Isaura tells her daughter that they need overwhelming evidence to accuse Facundo of Luis' death. Kassandra knows where to get it. She contacts Ramírez who brings her the security recording from the hangar on the day of the flight and BINGO! she manages to capture the image of the mechanic who was working on the wing. It is clearly Facundo. She tells her mother that now she can shut Facundo's mouth if he dares open it. Isaura tells her to be careful because Facundo has shown that he can kill. Kassandra assures her that she is also is capable of anything with him if pushed to the limit. Isaura reminds her that she, also, cannot allow that anything or anyone to get between her and Joaquín and their future. Kassandra assures her she won't.
At the end of the episode, a jaunty Facundo pays Kassandra a visit. He is there to find out how much she is willing to pay for his silence. She informs him that she will not give him a red cent. He will not talk because if he does, everyone will find out that he sabotaged the plane that Luis and Susana died on. Kassandra is the one smiling now.
More Eleazar Abuse
Eleazar is at home mooning over photos of Vale, when his father plops down on the bed next to him.Eleazar breaks the news that he doesn't know if he wants to stay on theNavarro team. Facundo swings his arm around the neck and pulls his head tightly next to his. The abuse begins. He reminds his son that the Navarro team is the best there is. He lets him go and Eleazar tells him that they don't see him, respect him or value him. Vale was the last straw. Facundo doesn't see how quitting will lead him to being the best racer in the country. Eleazar dares ask if that maybe isn't his destiny. Facundo chokes him harder this time telling him not to come to him with that now. He needs to forget about Vale. A woman cannot derail him. Facundo will tell him who he is and where he is headed. He lets him go, smiles and thanks him for wasting his day!

On the Home Front
Vero shows Joaquín the recording that Meli was watching. He is overcome by the great responsibility he now is shouldering for the children. Vero starts to cry. He asks if there is something wrong. She says if he only knew . . . and then talks about the great affection she has for the children. He knows and that is why they trust her more all the time just like him
Vero gets Joaquín's approval to take Dani to the beauty salon to deal with her hairy legs. He thanks her for all she does from her heart and grabs her hands.
Carmen is perturbed that Vero finally got her way with having the groceries delivered. Carmen liked to pick out fruit and vegetables by hand. Vero shows her the good quality they got. Joaquín always had groceries delivered when he lived alone and proclaims that the groceries will continue to be delivered. He thanks her for all she does and smiles to himself.
Diego overhears Joaquín talking so kindly to Meli telling her that he is always there for her if she needs somebody to listen to her. She al most answers him out loud but writes him an answer on her board instead. She likes to be with him. He loves to be with her.She hugs him and he soothes her.
Diego comes to see Joaquín and tells him he saw him with Mele. Joaquín gives him the good news about Meli speaking. He is happy. Joaquín also tells him that he is still trying to contact their aunt Nuria. Diego says he can forget about her. He recognizes that good or bad Joaquín is there for them. He then corrects himself and says more good than bad. Joaquín is taking care of them. Joaquín is happy to hear that. Diego apologizes for all of the mean things he said and thanks him for putting up with him. He offers him his hand and they shake. Diego loves what he is doing on the proposal for the motorcycle. Joaquín thinks that is great but doesn't want him letting school go. Diego says he sounds like his dad and makes it clear he will keep up with his school work.
Diego gives his siblings the good news about Meli. They agree that things have been better since "Consuelo" has arrived and . . . Joaquín, too!

Facundo Needs A New Hearing Aid Because He isn"t Hearing What Vero is Saying
Vero heads home and finds her father seated out on the street with Facundo enjoying a beer. Facundo wanted to see her so he decided to spend some time waiting for her with his future father-in-law. She looks horrified with the situation and that her father is drinking with his health conditions. Aurelio insists that the quacks can't do anything for him. He's fine! All he wants to do is happily toast to the fact that she found a good man. He and Facundo say goodbye having enjoyed meeting each other. Aurelioadvises a smiling Facundo to not get turned off by Vero. She has always been a force to be reckoned with. That is exactly what Facundo likes about her! When Aureliio is gone, Facundo tells her how impressed he is with her still caring for her father after their painful history. The more he sees her the more he is falling in love with her. Facundo says he expects nothing from her and only wanted her to know how hefelt. She apologizes and tells him she is not ready for a relationship right now. He says she can take things at her own pace but then has her promise she will see him tomorrow. She says good night and he kisses her on the lips again and not on the cheek. She reiterates that she is a great man and grateful for his help but only as a friend. He is not interested in being her friend. He has fallen in love with her. She says she feels good being with him but it isn't love. She is grateful for all he has done for her. He says that is good enough for now but he isn't giving up. She is left upset.
Facundo arrives at Joaquín's house with a huge bouquet of roses for Vero. Joaquín says she isn't there. Facundo asks if it is okay if he comes by to see Vero while she is working. Joaquín says no problem. Joaquín says that things seem to be getting more serious day by day. Facundo answers that she is driving him crazy. When she looks at you, she sees your soul and when she kisses you . . . He has no idea of what a good kisser she is. Facundo grins ear to ear. He then tells Joaquín that he is looking into some new drag chains made with a new alloy made of more resistant metals. What is even better is that they come from Guadalajara. Joaquín is ready to try them but the conversation stops when Vero returns and Joaquín finally leaves for the parent meetings at school. She asks Facundo why he is there. Facundo grabs her and kisses her just as Joaquín returns for his cellphone. Vero is not happy that Facundo showed up at the house.Shemakes a point of her having to keep her job in order to stay close to her daughter. She asks him to leave. If anyone saw her with a novio . . .he catches her on that "novio" and likes that she considers they are novios. She tells him to stop playing around. He insists that he isn't playing. He finally agrees to leave kissing her again.
Romina Puts the Cards on the Table
Marcos is enjoying his supper when Romina says she went to the doctor who told her that there is no reason that she cannot get pregnant. She suggests that he go get some fertility tests done at the doctor. He is livid and insulted. There is nothing wrong with him. She calls him a machista. He says she knew how he was when she married him. She answers that what bothers her is that he won't change. He quotes his father who always warned that if you get married, your old lady will want to change you. He leaves the table to take a shower so she won't moan about him being a stinking mechanic next.

Flores tells his detective Guzmán that although he knows that Vero is not working for anyone else, he wants him to follow her a bit more closely. Lupita comes in as he tells Guzmán doesn't want to hear about ethics. She also suggests that he leave Vero alone. She told her she was writing a book. Lupita encourages Flores to go home and be with his family. Maybe he shouldn't waste his time on things that do not matter.
Flores leaves and goes to take his daughter at school. He stops when he sees Vero with Meli and Dani. . His daughter says she is with Meli Mute. That is what they call her at school. I She stopped talking so she is mute. She is delighted that she came up with that name for her. Her father tells her that wasn't the right thing to do. She says her real name is Melisa Miranda. Her sister says that the ET's took their parents away. Flores has a lot to think about.
It turns out that his daughter is bullying Meli. She drinks her juice and takes her thermos.

She tells him not to tell Vero because she will do just the opposite to oppose him. He insists that he worries about Vero. He wants to see her happy with family of her own and not wasting time being tied to the past. His brother Father Nico (from the couch!!) explains that sometimes being tied to the past is the only way for a person to stay on their feet Sometimes, it isn't because of a whim but because of love. Aurelio turns sour looking like he doesn't appreciate that opinion.
