Notes from the Couch The "Scene by Scene " edition

1. Kassandra is home still waiting for a call from Joaquín. She tells her mother she is going to call him. Isaura grabs the phone and tells her to give him a chance to miss her.
2. Joaquín picks up his phone and looks like he is doing some serious thinking
3. Isaura tells her women who are successful with men are those that know how to force them to their knees. The phone rings. It is Joaquín but since Isaura has the phone she refuses to answer it so Joaquín has to suffer and leave a message.
4. The message from Joaquín says he will see her tomorrow and they will try to find time to talk. He sends her a kiss.
5. Vero talks to Consuelo about the mess she has gotten herself in with bringing her daughter over to Joaquín's but she doesn't want to involve Nayeli. She also knows that she has to show up at the presentation the next day or the prize will be given to somebody else and she will be fired. Vero feels like just telling everyone the truth and being done with all of the lying.
6. A tearful Claudia is telling Diego how embarrassed she is after what her mother did to her on social media. Everyone is making fun of her. She wishes she could find her father and go live with him. He gives her a hug.
7. Consuelo reminds Vero she is in the most important fight of her life and she cannot throw the towel in now. She has to keep fighting for her daughter. They will come up with something.
8. Iván shows up at the Miranda house with Majo looking for asylum. He tells Joaquín about eh kidnapping. Joaquín has a hard time believing his brother was the victim. He wants the truth.
9. An upset Vero prays to the Virgin for help. Nico sees her state and says he warned her that is what lies would bring her. What is she to do? Admit she is a liar? He says she has lied but is no criminal. She is a mother and what she is doing is out of love but sometimes love needs the courage of the truth to save itself. He hugs her.
10.Claudia has no idea where to find her father. Diego assures her itwill all work out. They hug. Majo surprises them walking in. Claudia is so glad to see her and gives her a hug.

11. Majo fills in Diego about the kidnapping and how her father thought they would be safer here. They are both super uncomfortable with Claudia being there knowing how they feel about each other.
12. In tears, Vero tells Nico he has no idea what it is to carry a baby and dream about her for nine months and then one day to have her just pulled from your arms. Nobody cares how you feel and it is as if you are worth nothing. He doesn't know what is like having her right in front of you and not being able to say anything when all she wants to do is shout that she is her mother. Nico will never judge her. He is there because he loves her. He tells her, with tears of his own, that he knows what it is to be broken inside and lying to protect what we love only works for a while and then you are left in pain and silence.
13. Eleazar calls Vero to see if Claudia is with her. His mother was worried. Yes, Claudia is there. She also saw the texts to Rebe and thinks that he had planned that to bother her. He answers that eh doesn't care what she thinks. Vale looks like she isn't feeling well.
14. Iván tells Joaquín that he didn't tell him about Olga being in jail because he didn't want to bother him. Joaquín assures him he will always be there for him and Majo. Iván is grateful.Joaquín adds that he and Majo can stay there with him until everything calms down.
15. Romina day dreams about that kiss that Iván wanted and smiles. Marcos breaks the spell. He is checking on her and wants her to know that she is with a man who will protect her. She smiles as he caresses her face. He hugs her and the smile disappears.
16. Lorena comes by the house and talks to Joaquín about Claudia. He thinks it is better she doesn't talk to her until tomorrow because she is upset. Lorena is at her wit's end. He can sympathize because he is going through the same thing with Diego. They are teenagers trying to establish their own identities apart from them. He feels like he is in a crash course on adolescence. She has to laugh.

17. Vero calls Joaquín to tell him her daughter got sick and she will not be able to come in tomorrow. He offers her help. A doctor? No she doesn't need anything.
18.The next morning, Carmen asks about Vero. Joaquín says her daughter is ill. Carmen adds that they have loads of people in the house and Vale woke up with a high fever. He hopes it is only the flu. His brother left early. Claudia offers to stay all day with Vale. Carmen says that is her job. Joaquín tells her that Diego has to study for his admission test to the open prep school and then he has to go to work. After she has breakfast, he will take her. They have to talk. her mother came for her last night.
19. The awards ceremony! Vero is with her boss Flores. He is so pleased. Her prize validates them all. She thanks him never expecting a moment like this. He says they are just getting started. This award will push the publication to another level. He then talks about what the article about Luis and Joaquín could do when Vero gets a call.
20. Melli is calling Vero to find out why she didn't come. Vero says her daughter is sick. Meli says just like Vale. She has a fever. Vero gets upset.
21. Olga tells Polito her story. . The last thing she knew about Borja was that he was in Amsterdam. Some guy called her saying that Borja owed him money and that she should be careful because people were looking for her. She took that as a threat. Iván is incredulous that she never told him that. They start to argue. Polito finally stops them. He fears that their bad vibes will break his connection with St. Jude. Polito's plan: they are going to testify that she acted out of innocence. She was blind to what she was doing when she was signing those papers.. She suspected nothing. The reason: LOVE and trust! The "A woman in love" syndrome. He thinks they have it made with her looking like a victim and the intervention of Saint Jude.
22. It comes time for the award presentation and Vero is nowhere to be found. The presenter is informed she had to leave for a person emergency. The prize is awarded to the runner up. Flores looks disappointed and angry.
23. Vero is at work taking care of Vale with cold compresses on her forehead. Vale tells her not to leave. Vero says she will stay with her. Evidently delirious from her fever, she asks her "mommy" not to leave her. Vero tells her that ehr mother is at her side.
24. Joaquín assures Marcos that there is no problem with Romina staying at home after the ordeal she went though. Iván joins them asking about Romina. Marcos says she cannot even go out to the street. The police are on the case. Iván says nothing else will happen to her. Marcos warns him that t better not. Joaquín notices the tension.

25.Kassandra wants to talk to Joaquín. As soon as they enter is office, his phone rings. She is not happy when he insists on answering it since it is from the house. It is Carmen telling him that Vale is not improving. He has to go home. Kassandra is angry.
26.Facundo and Mario are in the shop fine tuning the motorcycles that Eleazar and Hugo will be using in the race. It is clear that there is still bad blood between them. It seems that Hugo never got the notice from Joaquín that he and Eleazar will be competing to see who will be listed as the starter. He is not happy.
27.Majo brings Diego some food to his room. Carmen sent it.
28.Lorena wants to talk seriously with Claudia. Claudia complains about what her mother posted on social media. It made her look ridiculous. Lorena says she had to communicate with her some way she would notice. Claudia says she will not talk to her until she apologizes. Lorena is beyond shocked and says it is the other way around. Claudia hates her. She is leaving and will never come back.
29. Iván goes to visit Romina. he wants to talk to her about what happened. She has no interest. He has something he needs to tell her. He only needs two minutes. She lets him in.
30.Majo tells Diego that she feels the same way that he feels about her but refuses his kiss. They will not be together until he ends things with Claudia. He says he did. Majo says Claudia doesn't think so and leaves.
31.Vero is busy getting ice for Vale. Joaquín asks what she is doing there. She heard Vale was ill. He asks about her own daughter. She pauses and says she is better. He says she is worrying him. What is wrong? She starts to cry saying she cannot take anymore. He grabs her hand and tells her to tell him. She starts to talk when Kassandra walks in wondering what they rae doing holding hands???
32. Hugo argues against having to compete for his starter label. Marcos tells him these are new times. Hugo thinks the competition will be fixed because Eleazar is Facundo's son. Marcos reminds him he is there , too. Facundo states they are all professionals.
 

TAN CERCA DE TI Part 5

33. Vero tries to explain that she was very upset and Joaquín was trying to calm her down by grabbing her hands and then she came in. She wants to make sure that his secretary didn't get the wrong idea. Kassandra makes it clear that she isn't any secretary. She is Joaquín's novia. She doesn't understand anything ing but is tired of finding her in strange situations with her boss. Joaquín tells Vero not to worry because he will take care of the situation. He escorts Kassandra to his office so they can speak calmly. He gives Vero a big thumbs up as he leaves.
34.Romina and Iván both agree that they are now safe and sound but he says that something did happen. She says nothing did. He is referring to when they were together at such a critical time he saw his whole life in her eyes. She thinks he is exaggerating a little bit. All he knows is that he felt something in the deepest part of his heart.
35. A happy Aureliano comes by Consuelo for some food that he could smell from outside on the side walk. He remembers coming home form work and his wife Beatriz would have a plate just like that for him. She asks him what he is talking about. Her sister complained al the time because he never ate at home. and said he never wanted to spend any time with her. He blames his job. Then when he retired, she got sick and was gone. Consuelo says the doctors never knew what was wrong with her but she did. Her sister's body wasn't ill but her soul was. Her life was being extinguished by sadness and guilt. The guilt was over what they did with Vero's baby. Aurelio accuses her of ruining the moment and he leaves.
36. Joaquín tells Kassandra to not be unfair with Vero. She takes issue wth that. He says he explained it all to her. He never found out what was bothering Vero so much because she interrupted them. Kassandra knows what the problem is. Vero wants him for herself. Vero is crazy about him. He looks amused as he reminds her that Vero has a relationship with Facundo. Vero seeks him out to console her. That is her strategy. No employee confides like she does to her employer. He argues that he makes no distinction in the social ranking of people. If a person needs help help, he is there for them just like she is there for them everyday in the house. Kassandra reminds him that he pays her for that. Vero is listening to all of this at the door thinking about what s serpent tongue Kassandra has when Carmen catches her!

Who's marriage was already clearly in trouble. Romina succumbing to his "charms" was so disappointing. At least Majo and to a lesser extent Duego are at least trying to be fair to Claudia and they aren't married. How many more times is Kass going to catch Vero and Jiaquin before she finally wises up and gives up?? I love Polito who makes me smile. Whe is Joaquin going to realize Ivan is the boy who called wolf one too many times? So much more i want to say but I'm afraid I'll lose another comment or post prematurely again. Jarifa thank you I'd be so lost without ypur wise insights and clarifications.

Thanks, Diana. This turning out to be a really good novela. I was impressed with Majo and her insistence that Diego end his relationship with Claudia the right way, too. I agree that Iván is a real slippery snake in the grass. As for Romina, she needs to decide whether she is in or out with Marcos before taking any action. Any scene with Polito si a good one. : )

I liked that Aurelio got blindsided twice by Nico and Consuelo by the one topic he will not deal with. He deserved it. We also have the Nico mystery that he is evidently still tormented by.

This was a very satisfying episode.
