Eva Luna #50 Fri 1/14/11

Tony sees the pictures that Leo took of Eva and himself in a compromising situation.

Julio asks Renata where Eva is. Renata tells him that she hasn't come in today or called. Perhaps Marcela is right and Eva he did steal from her. Julio wants to go to Eva's house then to see her. What?! No replies Renata. She thinks to herself that if he goes then he'll see Justa. Julio says he's going because he believes all this was made up by Marcela. In walks Marcela and insists it's all true.

Tony plans on showing Alicia the photos and laughs.

Julio tells Marcela He didn't believe her yesterday and he doesn't believe her now. So go to work in your car, because the chauffeur is staying at my disposal. Marcela insists that Eva falsified Daniel's signature and cashed the check. Those are lies replies Julio. Would you like the proof of Eva cashing the check at the bank asks Marcela? Or a copy of the police report. What?! asks Julio. You denounced her? Yes replies Marcela. And I will make sure they give her many years in prison.

Leo tells Eva that Alicia's advice about hiding herself is the best thing. If the police question her it will just complicate things.

Now you know everything replies Marcela. Think what you want. Julio tells her she's garbage. When they lock up your little confidant then you will realize the garbage is her yells Marcela. Nothing in this world will convince me that Eva would do this. You are behind all this replies Julio as he starts to breathe heavily. Marcela sarcastically responds by saying why would she spend her time on a lowly servant.

Eva asks Leo how can she defend herself. He advises her to let things settle. He will take care of her.

Julio tells Marcela that he will not allow her to hurt Eva and starts having an attack. Renata rushes to his side while Marcela just stands there. Renata asks Marcela what to do. She tells Renata nothing. He's just having a spell. It should soon pass. And since I doubt that you will need the chauffer, I will take him. Just bring him a glass of water and she leaves. Renata tells Julio to just breathe. He tries to get up off the couch, but Renata pulls him back. Julio says that trash is who I married. Now she wants to kill me.

Eva asks Leo if he is willing to testify in court all about Daniel killing her father. Of course replies Leo. But don’t you think that he will deny it all? And perhaps put all the blame on me? Do you really think that asks Eva? He is capable of that and a lot more.

Daniel is late for a meeting at work.

Eva is looking for her luggage. Suddenly there’s a knock on the door and Leo tells her to stay in the room and not to come out until the coast is clear.

Daniel finally comes to the meeting, but is a bit drunk and disheveled. Sorry for my tardiness says Daniel. How is everyone? He starts acting up in the meeting. Pretty much acting like a jerk.

Eva is worried about who is out there. Hopefully it’s not the police. Turns out its Tony bringing the pictures. Leo asks if he opened the envelope. Of course not replies Tony. I just complete orders. He looks around the room and Leo tells him to leave.

Marcela has Bruno start his presentation and Daniel interrupts saying he needs some coffee. Anyone else? Marcela gets annoyed and asks Daniel if we can get on with business. Daniel says that’s the problem. I allowed you to start this side business when it doesn‘t suit us. It’s time to stop. Bruno is pissed and Marcela is shocked. Where else can she find a boy toy?

Laurita and Adrian talk about Eva.

Marcela tells her customers not to listen to her disagreement with her associate. Bruno says he can explain his plan further. The customers want to study the plan more in private and leave.

Adrian tells Laurita that the police are looking for Eva. Laurita says then what my father said was true although she doesn‘t believe it. Eva is a thief. So it must be true then replies Adrian. That is so sad.

So the meeting is done says Marcela. Can you leave me alone with Daniel? JoJo and Bruno leave. Marcela asks Daniel what the hell is going on. Daniel says he’s ashamed and now understands that Eva was just playing with him. Marcela says well I’m glad you’ve come to your senses, though you need to apologize to us all that have warned you. Yes especially to Leo who warned me several times replies Daniel. I’ll forgive you for what happened today says Marcela. I understand how you feel. Now go home and take care of yourself.

Laurita cries. Adrian hugs her and tells her everything will be okay.

Daniel goes to see Leo and finds out he’s out of the office.

Bruno follows Marcela into her office throwing a hissy fit about Daniel’s behavior in the meeting. Marcela says it’s okay. Now things are going to be better for me. He will no longer be an obstacle for me. When he marries my daughter, he will be the key for me to be the owner of all this. Bruno doesn’t understand. Marcela tells him not to worry. Just trust me, be faithful and love me a lot.

Fernando finds out for Daniel that Leo did not return home to sleep. Daniel tried calling him, but his phone goes directly to voicemail. Perhaps he is with a woman says Fernando. Daniel thinks and then says I think I know where he is at.

Alicia is looking for a job in the paper. Tony is in the room talking to her. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

Leo brings out a bottle of champagne so they can celebrate their friendship. Eva thanks Leo again for all his help. She goes off to shower and there’s a knock on the door. It’s Daniel and he barges on in. Leo stops him What you have company asks Daniel. Well you know me says Leo. Well since you opened the door, I thought you were alone says Daniel. I just wanted to tell you that I should have listened to what you said about Eva. What happened now for you to tell me that asks Leo? She fooled me says Daniel. She was fooling everyone. I asked her to marry me, but all she wanted was my money. That’s why she robbed me. Are you sure asks Leo. Well when I went to her house, they told me she left forever replies Daniel. On one side I can’t believe it says Leo. But then I can’t believe this would happen. What do you mean asks Daniel? Leo lies to Daniel and says that Eva also fooled him. Did she also accept to be your wife asks Daniel? Not really says Leo. I tried to tell you. Wait here and I will show you why we fought the other day.

Tony and Alicia fighting. Tony baiting her.

Leo shows Daniel the pictures of him and Eva together. Daniel is distraught. You and Eva were lovers asks Daniel. I know this is a hard blow replies Leo. I know you always believed her as the good girl. So did I. That’s why when I found out you two were together, I felt deceived. Just like you feel now. Why didn’t you tell me before asks Daniel. Why wait so long? Because I needed proof replies Leo. You were blind for Eva. You left my sister for her. It all happened to us. We all fell for it. We committed errors. But its done. Let’s move on. Go back to my sister. Listen to me.

Alicia asks Tony to tell her what he knows. Tony still taunts her.

Daniel can’t believe how stupid he was. How he could have believed her. Now he hates her for what she did to him. He will never forgive her. I won’t either replies Leo. That woman played with us both. Luckily we found out on time.

Alicia begs Tony to tell her. Fine replies Tony. I found out that Eva is mixed up with another man.

Julio doctor friend checks him out and will prescribe him some pills. Julio tells Renata that his illness is called Marcela. His doctor friend tells him to come to his office for a visit. He could have another episode and could be fatal.

Eva gets out of the shower and hears Daniel yelling at Leo that when he finds Eva he will have her put in jail for being a thief.

Julio sends Renata out. He tells is doctor friend, Marcos, that the new medication he has probably has poison in it too. Marcos believes someone is trying to kill him. Julio believes it’s Marcela.

Eva is still listening as Daniel tells Leo he believes that if he doesn’t pursue it, then she will destroy him. Leo tells him to calm down. Daniel says he can’t help it, he hates her. Yes, I know replies Leo. I know you will turn her into the police right now if you saw her in the rage your in. Yes of course replies Daniel. So go home, calm down and think things through says Leo. No yells Daniel. I won’t calm down until I see her in jail. Leo offers to give him back the money that she took if it makes him feel better. No yells Daniel. It’s not about the money; it’s about her knowing that she cannot get away with it. That I will be happy with the life that I should never have left. With that he storms out. Eva chooses that minute to come out of the bedroom, but Leo stops her.

Julio tells Marcos that it’s Marcela because he has asked her for a divorce. I want her totally out of my life. She has distanced Leo and Victoria from me. She wants to be left with my business, my properties and even this house. Especially all my money. So what are you going to do asks Marcos?

Leo tells Eva that he won’t let her make a ridiculous mistake when he stops her from following Daniel. Eva asks him why he called Daniel. I didn’t replies Leo. He knows I come here for a break every once in awhile. He came here to talk about you.

Julio tells Marcos that he has a plan and he needs help. But he doesn’t want to talk about it right now. Right now he’s trying to stop Marcela from causing problems for a very noble girl. Marcos tells him that he is more worried for him. He wants to draw blood to see how much poison he has in him. Let’s hope it’s less then what we think.

Leo wants to know how much Eva heard. Enough to know that he hates me and wants me in jail replies Eva. Did you hear me say that I would pay the money back to him asks Leo. And he turned me down. That’s proves it’s all false. he just wants to get you in trouble with the police. I hate him shouts Eva. Leo tells Eva that Daniel threatened to call the police on Leo if he was hiding Eva. Eva responds by saying let’s see who ends up in jail. Me, for a theft I did not commit or Daniel for killing my father.

Julio vows to defend Eva.

JoJo tells Victoria about Daniel’s behavior at the meeting.

Eva calls and wishes to speak to Julio. Renata answers and tells her off. Luckily Julio walks up and takes the phone away from Renata and tells her to get out. Eva swears to Julio that she did not do anything. Julio says he believes her. He wants to talk to her in person. Eva agrees and is about to tell him, but Leo walks in and yanks the phone away from her. Leo tells her that no one should know where she is at. No one. She tells him that she was speaking with his father. Did you tell him about me asks Leo. No but just like you he cares about me and believes me replies Eva. Give me the phone.

Marisol and Fernando shop for house stuff.

Eva calls Julio again, but Leo says that the phone can be bugged by the police. She quickly hangs up.

More shopping with Marisol and Fernando.

Leo convinces Eva that all she has is him.

Julio calls an attorney friend to come over right away.

Sales clerk gives Fernando the grand total. Over $3000.00. He’s not too happy.

Daniel remembers how his happiness fell apart and his happy moments with Eva.

Fernando pretends he forgot his wallet and they leave the store.

Leo tells Eva she must forget about Daniel.

Daniel recalls his conversation with Leo. Victoria walks in.

Alicia calls Leo.

Monday: Marcela finds out that Julio talked to Eva and she confronts him about it; someone breaks into the house with Eva alone in it.

Mujeres Asesinas 3, Thursday January 13: The case of the cheating cirujano or autos don't buy you absolution.

Tonight, Giselle Blondet is "Luz, Arrolladora" (Luz, who runs over).

Luz Mercedes, aka Mercedes, played by Cynthia Klitbo, is driving down the street saying, "You and I are going to be very happy together. You'll never leave me, you'll never cheat on me. And I'm going to decide when to trade you in for another." She kisses her steering wheel. Having just purchased a new Latinamobile two days ago, I know the feeling.

Meanwhile, Amado is in bed, passionately kissing Vera, played by Margarita Magana (the feisty and financially motivated Karla on Guapos). Amado calls a halt, as things are not working. Oh? Which "things" exactly? Vera's reaction to this declaration is to tell him she wants an identical car. Amado says he'll think about it.

Mercedes calls him as he and Vera are walking through a lobby or foyer. He asks if she's happy with the new car, and while she says she is, he doesn't think she sounds like it. Well, that's cause last time he gave her a car it was because he was cheating on her with "Lucha." She demands to know who he's cheating with this time. He says they've already talked about it, and he gave her that car because it's the one she deserves. So, he's riding a bicycle? Roller skates, maybe? As soon as he gets done with this "meeting" he's having at the "hospital" he'll head directly home and they can talk. She doesn't answer and Vera walks out without him.

Mercedes sees them both walk out of a building and start having one of those fights you don't have with someone you're not sleeping with. She pulls a gun out of her purse and says this is what he deserves.

This season the background for the opening theme song is red and all the asesinas are in black. Meh. I liked the red dresses better. Ana Brenda declares them all lost souls. The bloody butterflies fly around. I miss Gloria.

A few weeks ago…

Vera sits behind the desk of a medical practice, saying she's nervous. She looks homely, badly dressed, with stringy hair. Meanwhile, Mercedes is all dolled-up and coiffed. She tells Vera that she'll do fine as the receptionist for her husband's medical practice. Well, Vera's sure gonna try. She's grateful for the opportunity. Mercedes warns her that she'll be busy as her husband is very sought-after. "There's never a lack of ugly women with aspirations." Vera looks uncomfortable.

"Luchita" aka, Luz Maria, aka Giselle Blondet, cries to Amado that she's been the perfect receptionist and has even saved him some money, so why is she being fired? Um, cause his wife found out you've been going above and beyond the call of duty? Just a guess. Amado asks her to stop crying before she makes him cry. She pretty much refuses to calm down, since calming down will help everyone BUT her. On top of losing her job, Amado has just informed her that this thing with them isn't going anywhere. Burn! Dude, you are so gonna die!

Back at the office, Vera worries that the Doc won't like her. Mercedes says she'll hit him like a bomb. And if he doesn't like her, too bad, since it's Mercedes making those decisions in his office. Vera wants to tchotchke up her desk, which is fine by Luz Mercedes. She tells her to let her know if she needs any stationery and if she finds anything belonging to the previous receptionist…burn it! Mousy little Vera is shocked! Mercedes tells her that Lucha made some mistakes that she couldn't forgive. Vera hurries to grab a pencil and write down what she needs to not do so that she doesn't lose her job like Lucha. "Well, let's see…she kept the agenda perfectly…she was great with the patients…she kept a close eye on the inventory…she even saved us money!...she did a great job of scheduling the surgeries…." Vera is heartbroken. Lucha was perfect! "Well, yes, but she also screwed my husband." Mercedes walks off as Vera sits there with her mouth hanging open, wondering if she should write "Do not screw the boss" with just one exclamation point or two.

Lucha complains that Amado has used and discarded her. Sure, his wife suspected something was up, but he should have defended her! Amado says he just didn't have any choice.

Back at the office,

Mercedes continues to Vera that Lucha was trying to seduce her husband, so she had to be fired. She was a "buscona" (from "buscar" to look…she was looking where she shouldn't…ho, slut, loose woman, etc.). Vera thinks getting rid of her was the best thing to do. Mercedes can tell that Vera is different. They'll be great friends.

Lucha tells Amado he's a coward. Amado has found her another job, but he tells her not to go sleeping with her new boss. Lucha warns him that if it's not a good job, her tongue just might get loose. Amado doesn't think she'd dare. "I have nothing left to lose." Amado says it's all going to be fine, but he gets nervous when she threatens him. He needs them to cool it while things calm down and then they can pick up back where they started. Lucha doesn't like the sound of that. She blows him off when he sweet talks her again, saying whatever, it's not a big deal. Amado is confused by her change of attitude and says "Who can understand you?" She grabs him by the throat and says probably his wife can understand her.

Mercedes sits in Det. Capellan's interrogation room, asking what's going on. She doesn't understand. It's some kind of nightmare. She's Mercedes Manjarrés, widow! Capellan brings up the car being in her name. Mercedes says her husband was a skirt-chaser, but she never could have…. No, she doesn't know what happened. She doesn't understand anything.

Two snotty brats sit at a kitchen table, the older one playing with a laptop, the younger with a handheld game of some type. The younger brat asks Mercedes when the new secretary is going to come to the house and play with them. She hopes she'll give them popsicles like Lucha did! The older brat tells her little sister that the new secretary is nothing special, and she'll be just another of dad's secretaries. Mercedes says no, the new one isn't just one more, she's staying indefinitely until "se hace vieja con tu padre" (she grows old with your father). Daughter counters, "o se hace la vieja de mi padre" (or she becomes my dad's 'old lady' [wife]). Mercedes is shocked to hear her say it. "Well, he left my mother for you, he almost left you for Lucha, so we'll see." She says she'll have to check out the new girl. "Maybe she's pretty. Dad likes them pretty." Mercedes tells her the new girl is completely ugly, so there!

Lucha is pissed that her meal ticket has gotten away. She is standing in a phone booth in the lobby of a hotel, talking to herself. She says now Amado will bring the new girl here and she'll never be his wife. Damnit!

Amado comes home and is let in by Mercedes. He claims to have forgotten his keys. He looks panicked when she asks him why his phone was going straight to "buzon" (voicemail). He tells her he had to turn it off because of that, um, conference. Yeah, they changed the date and he had to just quickly put something together for it. "What about the patients?" Amado jokes that they had to wait…isn't that why they call them "patients"? Mercedes doesn't appreciate the humor.

A parking garage attendant hears noises and goes to investigate. He finds Lucha crouching by Amado's car. She says she was just looking for some papers. "At this time of night?" Lucha storms off, saying she doesn't have to answer to a "portero" (doorman) but he claims he's a "conserje" (superintendent, or concierge). He goes over by the car, checking to make sure she didn’t install a bomb. He mumbles about terrorists.

Mercedes is really pulling out the big guns. She's got a face treatment on that seems to include some kind of cloth or paper mask, and she's rolling her hair up and pinning it like it's in curlers (just without the actual curlers). Tip: Guys love this. Amado complains that he's tired after the butt lipo he did earlier. He claps off the lights. Mercedes claps them back on and climbs into bed…immediately Amado whines that he's really too tired for it tonight. But Mercedes just wanted to talk. Well, he's too tired for that too! He says if Vera makes her feel more secure, he's really glad. Mercedes asks if he saw Lucha again. Amado tries to pretend he doesn't know who this "Lucha" person is. "Oh, well, why would I have seen her? The only one who's going to be seeing her is our lawyer, if she sues for wrongful termination." Mercedes peels off the mask and says Lucha was trying to steal her husband and let's see what a judge will say when she explains that Lucha was trying to get in the way of her "dicha" (good fortune, happiness). Amado complains that she was just his secretary, a "pelusita" (a little bit of fluff). "I was your secretary. Was I just a little bit of fluff?" Amado whines that no, she's everything to him…everything! But not a bit of fluff. They get it on.

Lucha comes to the office and surprises Vera asleep at the reception desk. She asks where the doctor is and says it's an emergency. Vera says he's not in the office because he's operating. "Don't you mean, 'he's in surgery'?" Vera agrees that yes, it does sound better that way. "And won't he possibly be back in the afternoon, depending on how many surgeries he has scheduled?" Vera supposes so. Lucha comes behind the desk and criticizes Vera's wardrobe, telling her she shouldn't be wearing flip-flops. Vera realizes this must be Lucha and she asks her to leave. "Fine, but I'll be watching you. If you make me lose Amado I will turn you into carne molida with a scalpel." (mincemeat) Vera agrees not to tell Mercedes that Lucha was there.

Amado and his older daughter go down to the parking garage. He's complaining about her attitude and she's complaining about not being a kid anymore. She warns him that if Mercedes gets sick of him she'll go back to her mother. Amado swears he'd never cheat on Mercedes with anyone. "Even your secretary?" Amado tries to sweet talk his daughter, reminding her they're best buds. Daughter is over it. The doorman/superintendent/whateverheis apparently tells Amado about the previous night.

Mercedes fights with the younger daughter, trying to get her to fess up to where her "mochila" (backpack) is. "If we don't find your backpack, they're not going to let you into school!" Daughter sagely suggests they just go to the movies instead, and problem solved. Mercedes finds the backpack and tells the daughter to go down to the car. Daughter had been playing with dad's cell phone and Mercedes looks at it and finds a text message from Lucha that says "You can't just throw me away like an old rag."

Amado and the portero check out the car, which has had "Amado es pu" (Amado is a pu… "puto"? Male slut?) scratched into it. The portero hasn't been able to get rid of it even with some stuff that's supposed to come from China, so you know it works. He suggests they complete the word so it reads "Amado es PUMA" like the university mascot. Amado doesn't like that suggestion. He gets in the car with the daughter and says they'll be on their way in a just a minute. He's about to run into the other car, but the portero gets in the way. Amado tries to explain that if he hits the other car, problem solved, but just then Mercedes and Lupita, the younger daughter walk up. Amado says he'll drop everybody off today, since he'd asked the portero to clean the car for her and it isn't ready yet. The portero obligingly stands in front of the scratched door. The two daughters look at each other, agreeing that dad is craaaaazy!

After they drop off the girls, Mercedes confronts him about the text message. "Who did you throw away like an old rag? It's Lucha, right?" Amado says yes, but she's crazy and he didn't want to worry her. She's been bugging him since they fired her and she's been doing some really strange stuff. Really. Strange. Stuff. He still denies sleeping with her. He says she came on to him, but he resisted and she is crazy…not a little crazy but CRAZY! Just then, Lucha comes out of the building, pulling on a pair of black elbow length gloves and glaring menacingly at Amado and Mercedes. Way to look sane, there, sister.

Capellan asks Mercedes how many times Amado cheated on her. She says he always denied it and she always believed him until the day she caught him with Lucha in the office. She says he was enjoying himself like he never did with her and his face just looked so happy. "And why did you forgive him? Because he bought you a luxury car?" "No. And it wasn't that much of a luxury car…not like the last time."

Months before...
The girls run down the steps and get into Mercedes' new SUV. She tells Amado she's forgiven him partly because he got rid of Lucha, partly for telling her the whole truth, and partly because of her new car. Amado keeps trying to talk to her and she keeps saying "el horno no es para bollos" (the oven's not ready for rolls; not now, leave me alone). She drives off with the kids and Amado and the portero exchange a look.

Mercedes tells Capellan that she thought he was going to change and that’s why she forgave him. Capellan wants the truth. "What truth? I don't know anything. It was all so fast!" Mercedes says they stole her car. "Then why are your fingerprints the only ones on the steering wheel? He cheated on you, you forgave him, he did it again and that's why you killed him." Mercedes says she didn't kill him.

Down in the lab, Forense Gerardo, Aranda, and Moran are waiting to check out the body. Capellan walks up and says the wife still denies having run him over. Gerardo says the woman's body was found about 50 meters away, with 2 bullets in her. They haven't found the gun yet.

Amado is doing a post-op on a patient. He tells her she's healing nicely and she looks about 40 now. "I'm 42." Well, that's ok, he was just joking. Go see the nurse for some antibiotics. Vera comes in to talk to him. She fell and hurt herself yesterday and while it's nothing serious, she'd like him to check her out. She sits on his desk and says his 4 o'clock isn't there yet. "Well, let them wait. That's why they call them 'patients' ja, ja, ja." He looks at her knee and says it looks fine, but he's got to check all the bones and make sure nothing's out of place. We all know where this is headed. Vera's been waiting for this for a long time.

Gerardo and Capellan talk behind the glass. She's sure the two murders are related. Gerardo says they didn't find any gunpowder residue on the dead guy. Capellan asks him to see if he can match Mercedes' prints to the gun and to check her for powder residue.

At the office, Mercedes asks if she can trust Vera. She doesn't think Amado loves her anymore. He's still being very loving, but they haven't had sex in weeks. Vera says that's normal in some couples. But she agrees it's weird for a man who loves you not to want to have sex with you. Mercedes is convinced he's cheating. "When? He's always working. When would he have another lover?" Emphasis on "another" and Mercedes hears it. Vera says she meant another aside from the many Mercedes has said he had. Vera says they have to investigate. Mercedes says if it's Lucha again, she'll kill her. Mercedes finally realizes that Vera is looking a lot cuter than she used to.

Gerardo and Aranda inform Capellan that they have the results back and it looks like the doctor's secretary is the one who fired the gun. Capellan figures he must have been sleeping with her too. The wife ran him over and the secretary killed the lover.

Lucha grabs Amado by the neck and asks if he's going to leave her. They're sitting in the backseat of a car. He says he won't and they get to mackin'.

Amado hangs out in a hotel room with Vera. She's complaining about Mercedes getting suspicious and accusing him of not sleeping with her anymore. "Well, that would be like cheating on you. And I'd rather be touching you anyway." Vera is worried and she doesn't like the implication that there's a time limit on their relationship. Amado says it's no problem. He's done paying off the car and they offered him a discount on a new one, so he'll buy her a new car and that'll be the end of it. Vera says that Mercedes thinks Amado is cheating with Lucha and she said she'll kill him. Amado looks worried and says Mercedes does have a gun. "Maybe I should hide it?" Vera says if it's true, Mercedes will kill him and so will she. "Damn, all that's left is for Lucha to kill me!"

Capellan shows Mercedes a picture taken by the hotel security cameras after her husband was shot. "There's a woman getting into a car. Do you recognize her?" Mercedes does recognize her, but doesn't answer Capellan's questions about who she is or where she lives. She just keeps repeating "She killed him." Capellan takes her iPad back and gives Mercedes a meaningful glance.

Lucha gets dragged into the police station. She cries to Capellan that what she had with Amado was more than just a relationship…she was the love of his life! And now she'll miss him more than anyone.

Lucha pulls on her gloves as she looks around a corner and sees Mercedes' car.

Lucha tells Capellan that she was angry at that moment because Mercedes had everything. But she says she didn't do it. "She left the keys in the car and after than I…I don't know."

Lucha watches Mercedes sneak into the building and she runs out to the car and gets in. She drives off in Mercedes' car.

"You know perfectly well what happened! You got into Mercedes' car and you ran over Amado!" Lucha says Mercedes was smart to marry Amado, but really she was like all the others. He didn't love Mercedes, but he did love her, Lucha. "If he couldn't be mine, he couldn't be anyone else's either."

Lucha is surprised by Amado walking out of the building. She screams and hits him with the car. He rolls off the hood and lies there for a few moments and then she turns the wheels for a better angle and drives over him. No butterfly so far.

Capellan tells Mercedes that they have her husband's killer. And also the killer of her husband's lover. Mercedes fusses with her hair and asks "Who?"

The portero polishes the car. Mercedes comes out and the portero tells her it's a really nice car. She gets in and drives off, with no message for her husband. She pulls up in front of the hotel and calls her husband. We get a repeat from the scene near the beginning. This time, Vera tells him she's pregnant, but no worries, she'll get an abortion tomorrow. Amado is shocked. Mercedes hides around the corner and then follows Vera.

Capellan points out that four lives have been lost--Amado, Vera, and the two killers. Gerardo adds the unborn baby as #5. Mercedes says she didn't kill him. She wanted to, but she didn't. Her, yes. She was a piece of fluff trying to steal her husband. It was fair, wasn't it?

Mercedes catches up to Vera and shoots her twice in the back. The bloody butterfly flies away.

Lucha gets out of the car and another butterfly flies away.

Mercedes drops the gun in a nearby trash can, then sees that her car is missing. She sees it parked around the corner and looks inside first, then sees Amado lying dead under the front of it.

Mercedes and Lucha are walked down the hall in handcuffs. They stop to look at each other, then turn and face the camera.

"La parte investigadora demostró que Luz María arrolló, con un lujoso auto, a Amado Manjarrez pasando un par de veces por encima de su cuerpo. Fue diagnosticada como maniaco-depresiva y recluida en una clínica psiquiátrica de la capital. Luz Mercedes confeso haber baleado a Vera, la última amante de su marido. Fue condenada a 45 años de prisión. Las dos hijas de Amado, Elsie y Lupita quedaron al cuidado de su primera esposa, madre de Elsie."

The investigative department showed that Luz María ran over, with a luxury car, Amado Manjarrez, passing over his body twice. She was diagnosed as manic-depressive and interned in a psychiatric clinic in the capital. Luz Mercedes confessed to having shot Vera, the last lover of her husband. She was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Amado's two daughters, Elsie and Lupita, stayed in the care of his first wife, Elsie's mother."

Next week, Zuria Vega is sold to an abusive old guy.

Hey there, wow everyone is getting so hi tech! I'll have to retrain myself on screen shots! Nice job everyone, I scanned through the recaps. Y'all are just too darn funny!

Soo. We open with Gretel and MV chatting about using the Mala Noche club to hide the disguise that hides the disguise. Gman thinks she’ll take Oliver there, smother him with wet kisses and he won’t know that she’s G or man. Hmmpf. You know, if my boyfriend ever disguised himself as a woman, and then back again as a guy to disguise that he’s not a woman, I sure as heck hope I’d recognize him at all levels. I’d then march him promptly to the nut house. If he didn’t go, I would.

OK so now back to policia v crook with wet pants. I saw that mentioned in yesterday’s comments but didn’t see the episode. Man these folks sure are innovative. Amazing. Gotta love TNs!! Ok so there’s jibber jabber here about him violating Ilitia, and orange boy, actually looking a little more like a peach today, is taunting for many times our police hero. He really wants to be shot, definitely a better excuse for the wet pants. No one would scoff at that… So he basically tells Brandon he’s too honest to shoot. HA! Brandon shoots one up over his head. That’ll shut him up, well, not exactly. Turns out he’s right though, Bran won’t stoop to shoot him. He’ll get him arrested straight up. Yeah he’s leaving, but not before a gut punch. Upon departure Fonseca reminds him, the he is one of those guys who will kill so he’d better watch out.

Delicia agrees to come back to work, as long as Nereida respects her. Axel is thrilled to see her. I like her blue dress. I need one like that.

Maximo is still freaking out that his food is poisoned and makes Paula try it first she does and thinks he’s crazy for fearing this. She keeps beckoning him to eat, and he eventually does and likes it. Keeping right on the same topic, Paula brings up that something is making her think that their daughter really didn’t die at child birth.

Fedra got a pretty box. Delicia, back in her maid outfit, is dying to open it, but she won’t… Axel finds her and wants to chat with her. She tries to get him to open it. He wants them to be friends again. She says not that same old song. He says he actually composed a new one, come to my room to hear it? Ha! Delicia says yeah that’s what they told my Grandma and guess what happened, my Mom was born. DOH! She says, “better I sing one for you here, I know all the Paquita la del Barrio songs, pick any one.” Then she says she’s really busy and has to go. Axman reels around a bit after that…

Back at Paula exclaiming how special Gretel is to her and reciting all the coincidences about her and their apparently dead daughter. Max swears he’ll watch out for Gman and they will all be happy.

Deli is bringing the box to Fedra’s bedroom, but Bruno comes in looking for her, thinking he heards something. Deli hides out the window.

Paula knows Axel likes Deli, and asks him what he feels for her. He admits he loves her. She says love is blind to poor or rich, but if you aren’t willing to stand up to those who think you shouldn’t be with a servant, then just better off leaving her be. Me thinks a personal nerve has been struck there. :)

OK here’s something new to me. Kristel is cozily looking at pics of herself with her best friend’s Dad. They look too cozy, did I miss an allegiance here? He kissed her on the shoulder. He’s sorry for what happened with Mau and she says it’s great Mau was jealous. This will help her end up married to him. Low says he’ll want her even more then. YUK!!! In a moment, Ma is knocking, wanting to come in. Uh oh. Low is forced to jump out the window to flee. He does so but really makes a horrible noise. Turns out later he’s really hurt and who sees him on the grounds, but his daughter, she wonders why he’s even there. He needs a doctor, he fell and hurt himself. Meanwhile upstairs Fedra enters and complains that she used to have as beautiful a body as Kristel and then she would parade around naked on the beach, and that's how she met her hunky Dad and, ewwww! TMI screams Kristel. And Fedra drops how the years have passed and now she is old and has ungrateful children too. She recovers pretty quickly form her pity party though. Kris tells Fed that MV is in the carcel.

Anyway, Axel it turns out is sort of nice, he brings Paula ice cream. Axel knows about what happened with her and Tio Max, and asks her if it was really so unpleasant. Paula begs him not to repeat their story. He knows he has to clear up the situation with her but his mind is elsewhere, on his sister Gretel and what happened to her. Paula admits she knows something of what his Ma did to her. He complains about how worried he is about her and that he failed her when he lost his memory. Enough, Paula cracks, she tells him Max and Beni helped her escape and VMar is hiding her. He is so thrilled Gretel is ok and wants to tell everyone but Pau says that’s Gman perogative, we can’t tell anyone, and promise you tell no one I told you. He does. End of sweet scene.

Now to hilarity. Fed and Kris and chatting about how much they hate MV and Kris noting that guys don’t think the same way, and even Mau likes her and Fed saying there’s a reason to give up on him and Kris says just make him marry me and I’ll take care of the Zorras Well Fed sees the paquete on her bed and gets all excited. She finally opens it. Eek a snake!! And not the rapey kind, a real one!!

On the other side of the tracks MV is wondering if it could be true that Eman really didn’t cheat on her with Ili and if Kris and Ili really did set her up. Hmmm…. Eman shows up glad to see her out. She says thanks to him. He comes in peace, he’s transferred his Tios’s assets to Marianela.

HA!! Back to the snake on the bed. They climb up onto the chair, Deli and Nereida rush in and also climb up on the chair. Each screaming to get rid of it…but Berni is to the rescue. He pulls out his nice, hard, er glock, and does that snake in. Along with the mattress, which Fedi is not too fond of. Disaster averted, ah, but my mattress!! Berni finds telltale glasses and oh a note. Marinela is behind this. Oooh Fedi hates her even more!!

Now back to Eman pouring his heart of and begging Vick to tell him where Mari is, he needs to talk to her about all these things. See, it’s not about the money. He needs to clear up the misunderstanding, and it doesn’t matter if she is living with her husband or five little boys (chilpallates) he will try to find her!!

Bernardo reads the letter from Mari, swearing she will destroy Fedra. OK so there is more qvetching by Fedra about Marinela and a WONDERFUL scene where she stomps on Marinela's supposed glasses...he he hee, get those demons out!

Also we have more of Eman swearing to MarVick that being with the Gorda was the best thing that ever happened to him and how magical, etc. and he has to find her. She reminds him he's married, how will he explain to his wife, even if he will divorce anyway Mari is happily married to the only man she's ever been happy with, so he ain't gettin' no digits. She still thinks he's lying I guess.

Ilitia is chatting with her mommy about how the shrink tells her she's in love with someone else, the nerve. Is he a shrink or a psychic? Ma has a clue who it might be. Well, on cue then we have Brandon coming to tell Ilitia that he warned sneaky snake number one, but he didn't kill him. But here, have your own darling weapon. It was your Dad's, and I will teach you how to use it tomorrow, and even some self defence. Ili swoons and thanks him with a hug. He likes it!! She convinces herself he does nothing for her. She repeats it for good measure.

At the office Eman is chatting with ? who tells him to be happy with his wife. He can't. He can't deny how Mari exists. He gets a package during this, he can't open it, and want the other guy to do so. Turns out it's her diary. Uh oh...this will be interesting...

Gman is with Doris preparing for her next costumatic feat. They are trying to find something for hthe Mala Noche. Doris is worried for her about the sort of clientele that visits there if she turns into an exotic dancer. G-man knows and finds just the perfect pink sparkly two piece. Doris thinks it might be too big, she should try it, which she does stripped down to her black bra. Uh oh, there is Axel. Doris tries to think of something, but Gretl decides enough is enough...Axel it's me. Yeah!!!! He's soooo excited. I think he's just happy he didn't ha ve to try and process that Manolo was a tranny. Anyway, hugs all around...but first we have to go to Eman getting his heart dragged through the mud while reading the emotional ups and downs of la Gorda and how she was so happy about graduation and thinking of him, and then boom she says good bye to him forever. He cries. Sigh...

Axel does struggle with the Manolo thing, amazed at the disguise - he tells her of Paula's conversation, and she reminds him he must be careful to call her Manolo, and she can't come home, he tells her of the cellar discovery. She reminds him no one can know of who she is.

Eman now cries to his Daddy, tells him the whole story and he looks it over. He cries about how much love there was until now. Papa tells him he has to tell her what he feels...Pa doesn't care who is married, Pa says MarVick maybe won't tell you but heh, she'll tell me!!

Axel tries to convince Gman that Oliver and her Pa can both help her. She tells how she's dying to kiss Oliver. They are both happy to have each other. They hug. Pa and Eman open the door just then and well, look askance.... :)

More to come...

Triunfo del Amor #10 1/14/11 Pleasant and Not So Pleasant Surprises

Cap. #10
First the redux:
At the cast party Victoria has just shut down Ofelia for giving her negative “critique” about the heartless way she treats hubby. “--When I want your advice, I’ll ask for it!” Since there's no reason re-inventing the wheel, I'll paste in NovelaMaven's excellent translation (with appropriate kudos to her) of the scenes between Maria and Max.
María apologizes for the cold shower [vis a vis the bucket of water Linda threw out the window at him during the serenade] but says she can’t forgive Max for his previous behavior. He begs her to go someplace warm to talk about it and promises: No more apartments! You pick the place. Ok, says María, just stop shivering.
We FF>> to Max and Maria making goo-goo eyes at each other while conversing over malteds. At the [nearby hotel coffee?] shop, María explains it isn’t what he did so much as why he did it. He just wanted to be with her, he says. It was just a mistake in judgment… About what? she asks. About feelings, he says. He tells her he thinks of her all the time. He can’t get her out of his head. I’d rather be here, she says touching his chest. Do you believe in love at first sight? he asks. She tells him love can begin in many ways, like a seed dropped by a bird that, with much care, can flourish and grow into a tree with strong branches. He’s impressed. He asks her: What does love mean to you? Her answer: Giving (dar). Flowers fall so that fruit may grow. --Your way of thinking is really beautiful, he says. I didn’t know you were like that. He takes her hand and says: Here is where our story (lo nuestro) begins. We’ll see where it goes from here. She corrects him and tells him they have to think that it will last. He agrees. And his mantra will be: Quiero a María Desamparada, quiero a María Desamparada… Maria moons over this and says she loves Max also. They officially make –up and then make out over their melting malts.
At the same time, Alvaro is discussing the facts of adult married life with Osvaldo—something he’s not exactly equipped to cover. However, he tells Oz that his problem is Ozzie thinks life is a bowl of cherries because fate has always smiled on him. But he’s got a news flash for his BFF: it doesn't happen that way for most people. Oz wonders if it's asking too much for others (in this case, Vicki) to love you, to seek you out, to caress you, and spoil you? "--Why do I always have to be the one who wants to be alone together?" Al asks if Oz has ever had an affair. Oz doesn't answer right away (probably cuz this time he’d have to say “not exactly….”).
Speaking of Oz's would-be amante flagrante, Linda, is secretly trying to call him again. Nathy, tho’, like a mother hen, comes out of the bedroom and begins to scold her chick. She tells Linda to hang up and actually grabs the phone out of her hands (obnoxious busy-body) because Oz "is a married man and married to Sra. Victoria, who Maria greatly respects!" Linda knows, she says, but so what? And anyway, has she already forgotten the way the woman humiliated and abused her? (Word up, Maria’s the heroine in this thing; she’s supposed to take it on the chin and grin.) Doesn’t matter. Linda says she realizes that it will be impossible to continue to live there with these two goody two-shoes any longer and stomps out of the room.
As for Bernarda, she’s unable to sleep after her nightmare about Gonzalo, the married guy who knocked her up years ago. She is performing a make-shift cleansing ala The Exorcist, sprinkling holy water around her bedroom. “--Stop harassing me! You and your family got what you deserved! You betrayed me and chose your fate. You had to pay for that! I only did what was proper. You should be burning eternally in Hellfire!” She turns to the gin-normous crucifix on the wall. (Anyone else waiting for that crucifix to turn itself upside down and evil laughter to fill the room?) “--As for Victoria, I punished her in Your name.” She proceeds to tell Dios then how He should run his shop. “--You should be punishing her still, and mercilessly!”
We beam to Victoria, blind as a bat when it comes to her own long list of faults, weeping pitifully and asking Dios if in fact he is beginning to punish her. (Viewerville’s sympathy meter is pushing zero at this point.)
Back in the barrio, Maria returns home all smiles because, as she tells Nat, she and Max are going steady. Our young Mother Hen hugs her and lets out another “M’ija!” (Ugh!) Nat then tells Maria about the dust up between her and Linda. Linda comes out of the bedroom to tell them she’s leaving for good. They apparently talk her into staying for the night at least, cuz next morning at breakfast she’s got her bags packed and says she’s leaving that morning instead. Maria tells her they’ll back off the constant criticism, even though she does not approve of the Osvaldo thing. Linda decides she’ll stay. Problem solved.
Meanwhile, at the church, Juan Pablo has organized a trade school at the parish for the neighborhood men.
Back outside the apartment house, Milagros is giving Nat the letter from the guy who was asking her to find him a match made in heaven. Juanjo and Napo get back from working the nightshift. Nat excuses herself but stops just around the corner to eavesdrop on their conversation. Napo The Naco asks JJ if that’s the neighbor girl he’s been head over heels about. JJ says no, it’s Linda, the other one. “Natty’s so homely she couldn’t get a boyfriend, even dancing nekkid!” Nat’s crushed and runs off crying. Linda runs into her and asks what’s the matter. Nat won’t say and runs into the apartment. A concerned Linda follows her inside.
At the fashion studio, Vicki whines to Antioneta that she’s tired of the constant criticism and complaints from Ozzie. Maybe it’s because she’s been so successful, she says. Toni doesn’t have an answer. No matter. Peppy Pepino pops in to invite the two of them to lunch.
While Vicki waits for Peppy to bring his car up she notices a man across the street staring at her. He tips his hat. She freaks. A bus drives by and suddenly he’s disappeared. Vicki is shaking when Toni finally gets down to the sidewalk. Toni says she looks like she’s just seen a ghost. Vicki tells her that she has. She just saw Rodolfo Padilla, the sweatshop owner who raped her years ago. Toni wonders if that’s possible all these years later.
Oz, meanwhile, just happens to be driving through the barrio in his Lincoln Navigator and nearly runs over Linda. They recognize each other and Linda turns on the charm.
Back upstairs in the studio’s offices, Max tells Fabian that he and Maria have reconciled and are now actually going together. Fawning Fab is overflowing with hero worship. He asks Max if Maria knows he’s the boss’s son. Max says of course she knows. She couldn’t work there and not know. Fab says well, she seems a decent sort and not the usual gold-digger. Max is a bit more cynical. He wants to see if she’ll end up lying after they’ve done the deed. He’ll play along at least until then. Fabian insists she is proof that decent girls do exist. Max is still skeptical.
Maria has gone to visit the nuns to tell them about her boyfriend. He’s got to be a decent guy cuz not only is he handsome, but he works hard at the fashion studio for Sra. Sandoval. Padre JP walks in on them at that point and asks who Sra. Sandoval is. Maria and the nuns explain about their favorite benefactor and JP expresses an honest desire to meet her.
Down on the curb, Vicki is still in hysterics over seeing Padilla. Toni wants her to calm down. She says she will try. FF>>
Linda has wasted no time. She’s cuddled up to Oz in the SUV and he asks her where she’d like to go. She says anywhere as long as it’s with him. He obliges.
At the restaurant, Peppy wonders why Maria is upset. (Why? It seems to be her natural state.) Is it because he took too long to bring up the car? Toni tries to cover for Vicki. No, nothing like that, she was just discussing some bad memories. Vicki offers to give him the whole run down. We are left to guess whether she does or not.
Oz has driven Linda to a scenic overlook of the city, his favorite place in the world. Linda isn’t that interested. (Me neither. I get the heeby jeebies just looking at them dangling their legs over the side of that wall, though!) She’s sprawled out on his shoulder. She turns around and they kiss a bit tentatively. She’s definitely just what Dr. Al ordered. Oz takes a quick second to consider his options and then the two achieve a major mouth-meld.
Back at the Televisa lot, Ofelia and her producer hubby are arguing over her inviting the press to the cast party the night before. They’ve done a real number on Oz and Vicki and he doesn’t like it one bit. Their reputations are up for grabs now. She insists she was doing it to help with publicity for the initial phase of the new show. She had no idea the two would start bickering in front of everyone! Anyway, she says, Victoria deserved it as arrogant as she is! He accuses her of hating Vicki and wants to know the real reason she brought the press with her. Ofelia doesn’t reply, but she doesn’t deny it either.
We beam back to the scenic overlook where Oz suddenly remembers he’s married and begins to pluck Linda’s suction-cupped appendages off him in hopes of reminding her also. Linda’s motor though is humming and has shifted from 3rd gear into overdrive. (No problem for her if they got down to business right there on the side of the road!) He breaks the embrace eventually and tells her that he’s very much in love with his wife. He says he doesn’t want to deceive her (Linda or Vicki?). He doesn’t think they should continue. She’s a lovely girl, etc., etc. Linda doesn’t seem to think that one thing has anything to do with the other. He drags her back to the car.
At the fashion studio again, Fabian tells Max he’s going to spend his lunch hour at the corner video store.
At the same time, Oz leaves Linda off in front of her apartment house back at the barrio. He guesses right. Yes, she lives here. Linda asks if they’ll see each other again. He can’t say and still doesn’t think they should. He doesn’t want her hurt in the end. Linda plants a sensual kiss on his puss and says, “Oh, we’ll be seeing each other again!” She struts up the stairs and leaves Oz wanting more of that.
Vicki still can’t get the image of Padilla out of her mind. Toni tells her she has to and Vicki says she will try. FF>>
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Across town, Rough and Ready Rudy is smashing cucarachas in his bug infested pigsty of an office while begging the landlady to give him another extension on the rent.
In the barrio again, Linda talks Maria into letting her change her “look”. During the make-over, Maria asks where Linda was all morning. “—It’s a secret.” Maria says she hope it wasn’t with Sr. Sandoval.
Vicki enters Oscar’s office for a chat and sees him with the gossip section of the morning papers. She grabs it off his desk and sees the article. “A tipsy O.S. accused his wife of alienation and of being no more than a money-making machine.”
Oz is at home and has just read the same article. He calls up Shani, the blonde PR gal, to complain. She swears she had nothing to do with it and respects him too much to pull something like that. Well, then, who got them together? Who else but Ofelia, she says. A light bulb goes off in his brain.
Ofelia, meanwhile, is looking at the gossip section also and is smiling smugly to herself. “This will take Victoria down a notch or two [bajar los humos]!”
Vicki comes home and starts yelling at Ozzie about the stuff in the newspapers. Their private lives are now exposed to the public and she’s sure the cast and the public got a hell of a rush out of it. She refuses to put up with it any longer. He says since it’s obvious she can’t stand anything that has to do with him and his life they will get a divorce. Vicki is suddenly quiet. (Damn, woman! Is that what it takes to get you to put a sock in it????)
At the same time, Fernanda and Scuzzy Tattoo-Boy are listening to CD’s in the video store where Fabian’s looking for his movies. She and Scuzzy start trashing CD’s till life in the fast lane hits a minor bump in the road and the owner comes up to complain. She throws her credit card at him and says she’ll do just as she pleases jack-ass! Scuzzy keeps on trashing CD’s to make the point. The police show up and drag them off. She notices Fab and yells at him to do something! He tells her to go with them and he’ll let Max know to get her.
Vicki wonders why Oz has just let the axe fall and said the “D” word. He says she’s made it plain she doesn’t like what he does for a living and the public and press are a part of the job description. It’s pretty much put up or shut up. (Shall we have a show of hands for those voting “Shut up”?) Vicki, he says, is obviously too delicate to be exposed to this lowly situation and he won’t force her any longer. Anyway, he can’t stand her long work days and refuses to compete with her modeling world. It makes him uncomfortable. He just won’t do it any longer. Vicki asks him if he’s unhappy with her. (A big “Duh!!” goes out throughout the whole of Viewerville. Excuse me? Sounds like it!) She insists she really does love him. He tells her she has a hard time showing it. (That’s the understatement of the year!) A penitent Vicki begs him not to bring up a separation ever again.
At the police station, Max is there with Fabian trying to bail out his juvenile delinquent kid sis. He promises the guy that their parents will give her a good bawling out. (Probably it’d be the other way around--just sayin’…..) The cop is wise to that and says as much. Once the kid’s out of jail, he says, the parents’ memory goes dead. The detective then asks about the boy she came in with. Max asks if he doesn’t have relatives or something. Yeah, he does, the cop admits. Just then, Rudy comes in looking for his son. (As Viewerville knows, life has a way sometimes of biting you on the backside when you least expect it. ) The cop asks the name of his son. “Federico Padilla.” (Well wuddayaknow! Tattoo-Boy's papa is none other than than Vicki’s old rapist, that pathetic worm, Padilla! Now that’s Karma!)
Back at the mega-manse in the master’s bedroom (still don’t know which of the two that is, him or her) Vicki and Oz have just made up the oldest and best way known to either man or woman. Oz apologizes for treating her so badly the night before. She’s already forgiven him and says she loves him just the way he is. “—You’re my pillar of strength. People will fail you; the kids will judge you at times, but you are the only real thing I have. I’m certain you’ll never disappoint me.” (The pulleys on that anvil are beginning to creak.)
Back at the police station, Max and Rudy introduce themselves. He’s paying Fer’s bail, he says. If he wants his son freed he’ll have to do the same.
Across town in the barrio at Maria’s apartment, Linda has finished Maria’s make-over. Nat rushes in with a simple bouquet of red carnations that were delivered as Maria rushes off to work. Linda reads the note from JJ, wrinkles up her nose, and then laughs. “You are one of the jewels our creator gave us.” (Sounds like Millie wrote it anyway. JJ doesn’t have the vocabulary.) Nat doesn’t understand. Linda tells her the guy has no money so he’s not her type, and then leaves. Nat tells herself money isn’t important.
The guards bring Fer up to join Fab and Max. She laughs like it’s been a terrific little adventure. Max frowns and asks why she’s smiling. “—You’re so irresponsible [inconsciente]!” She tells him to get off it. He’s not exactly a saint either. She asks if he’s met Feddy’s father. Yeah, says Fab. She sneers at him and says she was talking to her brother, not him. Max tells her not to be rude since if it weren’t for Fabian she’d still be cooling her heels in lockup. She asks where’s Feddy? Max answers he is probably getting bail worked out. They go on their merry way.
Rudy tells the detective he’s not paying Scuzzy’s bail. He doesn’t have the money, but also the kid deserves being stuck in jail for being such a blockhead. He is tired of the kid trying to act like he’s some sort of young millionaire.
Speaking of said young millionaires, Max, Fer and Fab are in Max’s little lime porche convertible, buzzing along the freeway for home. Max says their parents will probably cancel the party once they hear. Fer whines for him not to tell them. Fab comes to her defense and says it really wasn’t such a big deal. Max agrees to keep quiet as long as she doesn’t do it again. (That detective sure had it right!) They laugh it off and buzz on down the road.
Vicki’s back at work now and tells Toni about her little bit of “afternoon delight” with the hubster, which means that all is (supposedly) smoothed over now. Happy, happy. Joy, joy!! Just then Maria comes in all smiles looking for all the world like a mini-version of Linda –a real naca knockout. (Didn’t somebody once say that art is a window into the soul of the artist?) Maria was apparently hoping to make an impression –and she did! Toni and Vicki are horrified!
At the same time, Burnie has gone to the church to pray and speak to Her Son The Priest. While she waits, a lady lights a couple of candles. This causes Burnie to flash back in time again to her affair with Gonzalo. Gonz is proposing marriage. She’s elated. Later, she’s in bed making love to him. He swears he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. She tells him they’ve just sinned. He says not really, since they both love each other. The next memory is of her being so excited because she’s got his bun in the oven. She’s at the park that evening wanting to give him the great news. She notices him with a woman and little boy. The woman says they're Gonz’s wife and son. Apparently, later that night she’s followed him home and brought back a gallon of gas. She pours the gas on the house and lights the flame. The house catches fire. She smiles with sadistic pleasure as she watches them through the window running in panic in the middle of the flames while the walls literally crumble around them. Suddenly Burnie’s back in the present. “I loved you with all my youthful eagerness and gave myself to you. You made a fool of me! You had to pay for it like all traitors must—with death!” Burnie decides she’s had enough excitement for the time-being and leaves without waiting for Her Son The Priest.
Back in Vicki’s office she’s going ballistic over Maria. “--Where did you think you were going? A carnival?” She smears Maria’s make-up.
“You were supposed to be completely under my charge and what did you do? Now I see you are nothing but a poor simpleton! You’re lost! Get out and never come back here again!” (What a friggin’ control freak!) Maria proves that she has much more dignity than her mama. She says fine, and adds that she hopes God doesn’t ever punish her with as much cruelty or suffering as she’s shown her. She leaves and Vicki actually seems stung by those words.
JP comes out and learns he just missed seeing his mother. Maria races in and begins crying at the altar. He asks what he can do for her. She turns and races towards him. She just needs some guidance and comfort from a father figure -–something she’s never had. (Ok. We all know he actually is the father she’s never had!) It might be the call of the blood, or of The Cloth, or some odd combination of both. JP hugs her and promises to be that father figure for Maria….Cue the kayak.

La Verdad Oculta 84: Adolfo Ávila is Behind EVERYTHING

Valentín has told his story of JJ stealing Garnica’s safe with the money and the map. The presence of two Goons With Guns, Belial (Dante) and Beelzebub (Adolfo) are enough to make him stick to that story (for now). Adolfo has the two goons leave, leaving him and Dante to further question Valentin. Adolfo thinks Valentin is lying through his teeth, even as he insists JJ came there with two of his own goons to rough him up and steal the safe. Adolfo wants a description of JJ, and Valentin gives a response that could describe a quarter of all the men in Mexico- dark hair, tall, nice looking. He gives a sigh of relief when Adolfo confirms to Dante that this description matches JJ. But Adolfo wonders what JJ could have been looking for- the money Garnica stole from him or the letter. Dante’s very interested in this stolen money, so Adolfo explains it’s the blackmail letter he spoke about. Dante looks even more interested.

After this brief distraction, Adolfo’s brain cells once again kick into overdrive. He tells Valentin he doesn’t believe a word he’s saying. He’s sure that once Valentin saw Garnica wasn’t coming back from Puerto Vallarta, he decided to keep the money and the letter for himself! Valentin thinks fast on his feet. He spoke to Garnica himself lately. Oh really?! Dante thinks Valentin must be an expert aquatic athlete (considering where he would have to go to talk to Garnica). Adolfo agrees. In fact, he thinks they’re going to have to make him a part of their aquatic team so that he can…continue practicing. But beforehand they’ll continue talking to him, so that Dante can retrieve his map and Adolfo his letter. They drag the poor idiot out. Knowing the jig is up, Valentin volunteers to give them back the money and the map. But he swears he does not have the letter. Garnica took it with him to Puerto Vallarta.

Juli and Paulita are in the Guillen living room having a mother-daughter chat. Juli asks Paula if she remembers her mother. Paulita was very little when she died in a car accident, but her dad has lots of photos and videos that Paula has been able to look at. Her grandparents were also murdered soon after, and shortly after that her dad left the ranch in Durango to become a police officer in Mexico City. Juli is shocked to hear about the murder of Paula’s grandparents, and surprised to realize Leo has money. She and Paula both wonder why he left the ranch to become a police officer in D.F.

Adolfo and Zaida are having lunch and he’s obviously just asked her to work with him and Dante. She’s ticked off. She doesn’t want anything to do with that guy! Adolfo commands her to sit down, because she doesn’t have much choice in the matter. With Garnica gone, she would be alone and unprotected without Adolfo. Now she’s got to work with Dante as part of this new order. She points out that it’s Dante’s fault she was in prison. Adolfo points out that Dante never wanted to kill her. Prison vs death. Zaida seems to accept the lesser of the two evils. Adolfo gives her his assignment—bring Dante in on the Puerto Vallarta deal with JJ. Speak of the Devil, in walks Belial himself!

Zaida stares at Dante with a mix of fear and hatred. Adolfo pretends they are in polite society and turns on the charm. “I believe you two know each other.” Indeed they do, and Dante thinks he owes the lady an explanation.

At Genoves Manor, the doctor is checking David as Dora looks on. It’s good news! David has been doing his physical therapy, with good results. He feels the tickle the doctor does on the soles of his feet, and he is able to wiggle his toes. With the continued therapy, and David’s excellent physical condition, the doctor predicts only more good things to come. Dora accompanies the doctor out happily. David immediately calls Gabi with the good news. She’s very happy to hear it and wants to be with him to celebrate, but she’ll be a while yet at work. She explains that she’s with Urbina and JJ, deep in hotel management learning.

After she hangs up and the three get back to work, an impactado Adolfo comes strolling in and wonders what the hell they’re doing there. JJ stands defiantly and wants to know what’s it to Adolfo (que te importa?). Well, Adolfo’s a partner in this business! Of course what goes on is important to him! He thought things were going badly with the business, and now he knows why (looking directly at Gabi). And what’s JJ doing here? Now Gabi stands up. JJ’s there because she wants him there, and David approves. Adolfo insults her by saying all she knows how to do is serve tables. JJ takes offence at his insulting the lady, but Adolfo doesn’t back down. And JJ better not dare lay a finger on him, or back to jail for him. Plus, they don’t have a shred of evidence against him! But he has the right to defend his interests. Mario is old and decrepit, and David’s an invalid, giving Adolfo the right to take over, which is what he intends to do. He orders them out. Gabi refuses, since it’s her husband’s business, but Urbina points out to them that Adolfo is an important partner in this business and urges them to go. JJ leaves with a threat to take Adolfo down, somehow, someway. Adolfo chuckles evilly, and tosses to the ground a framed photo of Mario from David’s desk.

At the prison, Leo speaks to Marcos, telling him they’ve found the diamonds and the money at Susana’s place, but no Susana. They want to know where she is because she could be in great danger. One of the people she had been associated with, Roberto Zarate, has been murdered. Marcos doesn’t know where she is, but swears he would tell them because he loves her and doesn’t want her to get hurt. Do they know who murdered this Roberto guy? Leo claims they don’t, but what does Marcos know of her association with him? All Marcos knows is that she had this photo of a woman, wearing the diamond shoes. Did Marcos know if Susana was going to sell the diamonds? Marcos explains that she was working as a servant in the Genoves home, and he advised her to sell the diamonds and leave the country, but she didn’t listen to him. Then she told him she had found this letter in the Genoves house and she was going to sell it, because it mentioned the names of some people guilty of a murder. Leo begins to line up all the puzzle pieces. He asks Marcos if Susana intended to sell the letter to Garnica. Marcos confirms this. Leo realizes the money they found in her apartment must have been from selling the letter to Garnica. He tells Marcos that Garnica has disappeared, is likely dead, and the letter is missing. If he knows something more, and he doesn’t want Susana to meet the same fate, he better cough up that info, now. All Marcos knows is what he advised her to do—sell the diamonds and leave the country. He knows nothing more and doesn’t know where she is. Since the money and diamonds are still in her apt, Leo knows she could not have left the country. He asks Marcos how many diamonds where left in the shoes; Marcos thinks around 20. Well, they found three in the butter, the shoes are still missing.

At JJ’s, Caramelo is now finally experiencing the pain of homesickness. Seems she wants it all. She wants her mommy Elsa, but she also desperately wants to stay there with Limon and Chicles and doesn’t want to return to her new home just yet. She cries, Limon cries, even Chicles cries! Limon tries to comfort her.

Things are a lot more cheerful across the way at Casa Genoves. David is sharing the good news of his recovery with Fausto. They expect him to eventually be back to normal. He shows Fausto how he can now move his toes. Gabi comes flying in, with JJ at her heels. Through angry tears she tells “Mario” and David what Adolfo just did. David is so angry he lifts himself up from his wheelchair! Gabi and JJ forget their anger for the moment to marvel at what David just did. David is more concerned about hearing exactly what went down with Adolfo. JJ explains. David is adamant that Adolfo has NO right to take over the presidency when he and his father rightfully hold that title. FaustiMario says he’ll go over there tomorrow to straighten things out, but the boys think immediate action is required. What Adolfo is trying to do is illegal, and Leo can help them. Plus, David says, they have evidence/proof against Adolfo. Gabi is confused, and wants to know what kind of proof they have. The men all give each other and Gabi guilty, nervous looks. She repeats the question and then wonders if they are going to keep hiding things from her. She repeats that she wants that talk with Mario and her dad, together!

At the Club, Leo waits for Carlos in his office. Carlos immediately starts denying any affiliation with any crime. Leo wonders if he’s sure. Carlos clarifies. He’s not involved with anything that has to do with smuggling. Leo wonders if he knows Roberto was murdered. He admits he does and it was Bertha who told him. And just because she is living with his dad does not mean that she’s involved in any way in Roberto’s death or anything else. Plus, they don’t even know how Roberto was killed. Leo reveals it was poisoning—juice destined for Mario. Carlos is impactado. He wonders how Roberto had access to the house, and Leo explains about the dirty security guard. They were both likely working for the same person. Leo sees Carlos’s ring and asks if he knew Roberto had one just like it. That’s news to Carlos—he never saw it. Leo wonders when last he saw Roberto. Carlos claims it was a while back when they happened to both be staying at the same hotel. Well, what if Leo told him that a jewel like that was the proof of a crime? That would be news to Carlos. They are interrupted when Leo’s cell phone rings. Carlos’s ears perk up when he hears Leo mention his father’s name. Once off the phone, Leo tells him his dad is up to his usual tricks, causing trouble. He urges Carlos not to lose or lose track of that ring, as it could be needed as evidence. Carlos promises to make it available to them and Leo runs out to help the Genoves with their Adolfo problem. Carlos immediately calls Yolanda to meet later that evening to talk.

JJ returns home to find a down in the dumps Limon. He wonders what they will do if they never find that letter. He also wonders if they can get Elsa to renounce adopting Caramelo. [Recapper interruption: And then what? Limon and JJ still couldn’t have her legally. Who was it that said these two guys need a course in critical thinking?] JJ thinks 8 years old is old enough to decide where you should live. He thinks perhaps Mauricio could convince Elsa to give up on the adoption, since he obviously knows how to handle her. Limon talks about how sad Caramelo was to leave. “Sure she loves Elsa, but she loves me more.” Our two big kids chuckle at this. Of course she does! JJ has it all planned out. They’re going to find the letter, JJ will adopt Caramelo, and she will come back to live there with them. It’s her home! If they don’t find the letter, then they will have to convince Dora somehow to change her mind.

JJ’s doorbell rings and it’s our favorite neighborhood long-legged, blond smuggler at the door. How did she find his address? She claims, Elvira, Elsa, whatever, gave it to her. (Really?) Limon makes himself scarce after being introduced. Zaida wants a whiskey before getting down to business. She ran into a friend of hers from NY, and he’s interested in investing in their Puerto Vallarta deal. JJ wonders if this new “friend” of hers is like her old one- that blackmailing scoundrel Garnica. Zaida feigns ignorance. JJ doesn’t know if he’s alive or dead. Zaida feigns ignorance. JJ points out that Garnica introduced her as a good friend. Zaida feigns ignorance, and pretends they just said that so that the others would accept her into the deal. How did they meet? Garnica found her. Dante Sevilla, the millionaire investor she just mentioned, was the one who spoke to him about her. She’s hurt that JJ doesn’t seem to trust her, and tries the seductive flirty approach to convince him of what a wonderful time they’ll have as partners. JJ partly playfully, but mostly deadly seriously, responds to her attempts at seduction with a long hard stare.

At the Guillen apartment, Faustiago, in Fausto mode, takes a call from Juli, who is watching Paulita across the hall at Leo’s. She’ll be there a while longer until she puts Paula to bed. Nope, Leo hasn’t arrived yet. Right after that, Leo arrives at Fausto’s door. He wants to know exactly what happened with Adolfo. Fausto explains. Leo doesn’t think Adolfo has a leg to stand on since David is still the head of the company’s board. All the same, they want Leo to accompany them to confront Adolfo. Leo thinks what they need is not him, but a lawyer to accompany them. Fausto explains they need him because of the fear he inspires in Adolfo. Leo can’t deny he has this particular skill, and agrees. They decide to meet at 11am the next morning. They say good night, and Leo returns home to the hugs of a sleepy Paula, and the kisses of a very awake Juli. “Hola guapo.” “Hola hermosa.”

Juli asks him what we’ve all been wondering for some time now. Why did he leave his ranch in Durango behind to become a D.F. cop? He realizes she’s been talking to Paula. He explains his motivation was a misfortune in his own family—his parents were murdered. Who did it? It was…Adolfo Avila, who was attempting to take his family’s assets/properties. He gets upset and tells Juli he can’t talk about it any more. Juli wanders if he hasn’t thought about leaving the police force. Indeed he has. He’ll leave the force and return to Durango when he marries her. This is music to Juli’s ears. That won’t happen until he’s resolved these problems that her family and the Genoves are having, but he thinks it will be soon. Juli blesses this plan with a few deep kisses.

Yolanda seems in deep thought about her life over breakfast, and she doesn’t seem to like what she’s concluding. Carlos arrives and she apologizes for not meeting him the evening before as she had promised, but she had a headache. He joins her at the table and asks why his father took the ring from him. She doesn’t know, and she didn’t know that Roberto had one just like it either. He shocks her with the news that Roberto is dead. She didn’t know? He explains about the poisoned juice meant for Mario. Yolanda tries to hold herself together after hearing there was yet another attempt on the life of her one true love, as Carlos explains that Roberto got what was coming to him. He was a no-good, who then associated himself with Adolfo. Carlos is sure his dad had something to do with his murder, and the ring also has something to do with it all. Leo told him that the ring is proof of some crime. Carlos wants to know if Yolanda would be put in danger if he gives the ring to the police. Yolanda resigns herself. She doesn’t want him to worry about her. She’s run the risk of getting hurt a long time and she’s tired now. Carlos urges her to get out of this life; there’s still time. Yolanda says she can’t. He begs her to tell him what it is that ties her to his father. “I can’t! I can never tell you! Never!” She runs from the table, leaving a worried Carlos calling after her.

At the Genoves Casa, David is finishing up physical therapy. Abelardo arrives and they speak about the good news of David’s rapid recovery. They then speak about the Adolfo situation and Leo accompanying FaustiMario to confront him. David wants Abelardo to go as well, since Fausto knows nothing of the business. David just wants them to make sure they stay firm on the question of the presidency. Leo arrives, looking sharp, and is greeted by Dora at the door. As usual, she is obviously not happy to see him, but he tells her he must speak to her seriously. She stands firm in her refusal, and her fear of more bad things happening. Leo understands, but if she testifies, all of this will end. He could force her to testify, but he doesn’t want to do that. He wants her to do it of her own free will. She walks away telling him she’ll inform the others of his arrival. The old men leave David’s room, and David asks Dora what’s wrong. She avoids the subject by speaking of the happy news of his standing up the evening before. Soon enough he’ll be walking, and she’ll be able to be much more at ease. David looks at her strangely and wonders what she means by that. [Me too. Does she mean that once he’s walking again she’ll go into hiding once more? Or does she just mean he’ll be better able to protect himself and won’t be as vulnerable?]

Ale descends the stairs and greets David, also happy with the good news of his improving health. He speaks about how well Gabi is doing learning the business, but that Adolfo is trying to take over the board presidency. He explains about the meeting that day, with Leo in attendance. Ale is worried about her sister living with that dangerous man. She knows she’s a pain, but she’s her sister. David agrees and tells Ale to ask her to come back to the house (I would ask Gabi about that first). Ale agrees with me. She thinks it best to avoid Bertha-Gabi problems by putting Bertha in an apartment. David offers to help her out. Ale thanks him, but refuses the financial help. Bertha is her sister, so she’ll pay for the apartment. David wants the update on her and JJ. “Mas o menos.” She explains about her recent revelation to JJ that she dated Roberto, and the problems this caused. David urges her to be understanding with JJ, considering that Roberto was one of the reasons he was put in jail and the cause of so much of his suffering. Ale is frustrated. She’s trying, but JJ won’t let her in/let her get close to him! David advises her to approach JJ/make the first move. He’s worth it. Ale seems to take his advice to heart and thanks him.

Over at JJ’s, Lucha is busy making dinner and Chicles is busy making trouble. Lucha puts a stop to the trouble making and is just about to read THE LETTER for Chicles when Limon interrupts and asks for Lucha’s assistance elsewhere. Chicles then asks for Limón to read him the letter, but once again Limon can be of no help. He wonders why Chicles has the letter if he gave it to Caramelo as a gift and he knows how much Caramelo loves letters. Yeah, well Caramelo stole his pencil from his backpack, so he took the letter in retaliation without her knowing. Limon thinks it was wrong of them both. Anyway, they have many pencils of all kinds of colors at the house. He’s keeping the letter and will give it back to Caramelo. He guards it in his breast pocket.

Adolfo seems just as inept at paperwork in David’s office as he was in Carlos’ office. “Mario”, Abelardo and Leo come strolling in and he wants to know what they want. “Mario” wants to know the same of him. “What does he want?!” Nothing, just to fix the problems of their business that’s falling apart thanks to Mario’s ineptitude. Mario begs to differ, and Leo points out that only Mario, the owner of this business, can make these decisions. Well, Mario hasn’t been making those decisions for a long time, and his invalid son hasn't been working for weeks now. FaustiMario loses it. It’s Adolfo’s fault that David is in his condition. His fault! Leo holds FaustiMario back. He advises Adolfo to back off, since Mario is here now and fully able to make the necessary decisions. Adolfo pulls out the ace up his sleeve. He questions if Mario is really capable of making the decisions, considering he has an inoperable brain tumor! FaustiMario is left impactado.
