Destilando Amor - May 8, 2007 the difficult task of keeping up appearances

EPISODE - May 8, 2007 (#32; 6 de Marzo en esmas.com official site)
*Hilario and Isa are making out in her bedroom. The phone rings. Isa answers it - it's Fedra with the news that Minnie had a terrible accident and she lost the baby (Fedra is like boo-hoo-hoo bla-bla-bla ho-hum). Fedra asks where Sofia and Rod are - Isa says they are out at a town party. Fedra tells her to tell them the news when they return. They hang up. Isa looks over at Hilario standing there bewildered - Isa barks for him to leave now. He flies out of the room.

* At the hospital room, Aaron paces back and forth as Granny stands beside Minnie's bed. Aaron wonders why she hasn't awaken yet. Fedra enters to say she spoke with Isa and left a message for Rod and Sofia. Aaron is anxious and wants to go to work - Granny is outraged and scolds him for thinking of work when his wife needs him. Fedra sort of agrees with Granny. Granny forces Aaron to stay put with Minnie.

* Acacia is laying in her bed, remembering spying on James and Sofia laughing and dancing at the plaza dance. She turns on her side, curls up and she cries.

* In the ranch living room, Isa tells Sofia, James and Rod the message Fedra left - that Minnie had an accident and lost the baby. Sofia says they need to go be with her now. Rod says he can't go just yet, he has work to do at the ranch to get ready for spring harvest. Sofia asks James to go with them - James looks off in other directions and says that he also has ranch work to do with Meliton and can't leave either; he'll travel with Rod.

* Meliton antagonizes Acacia in their home on Dry Gulch Ranch. He wants to know if she was out of the house during the evening. She says no, she was there all night. He pulls her within kiss striking distance to be sure she is sincere in her response. Satisfied, he sits down on the couch as Acacia mentions his business meeting with "se~or ingles." He tells her about the harvest of the peanuts and the lack of a market in the area. She asks what ideas he has for the marketing of the peanuts - Meliton is frustrated and sarcastically asks Acacia for an idea. Acacia takes a moment and runs over to Meliton with her idea for burning the whole peanut crop, and replacing it with something more profitable - agave plants. That way they won't lose money. (and also a good way for Acacia to enact her revenge on James, too.)

* Isa and Sofia enter Isa's bedroom to talk. Sofia thinks that this is a perfect opportunity for Isa to get pregnant with Rod's child and have no obstacles to get grandpa's inheritance. Isa reminds Sofia of one important obstacle - Rod himself isn't interested in having sex with her, or giving up on his Gaviota. Sofia not see that as much of a problem.

* Fedra and Aaron in hospital hall talking about the accident and Minnie's state of mind. Doctor comes out of room - Aaron asks him how long before she can get pregnant again. Doctor says after examining her and all the test - if she recuperates steadily, then in six months she can get pregnant again. Fedra and Aaron choke with the news. Dr. leaves. Aaron shares his worries over Rod's search for Gaviota with Fedra. He is more worried than ever.

* Gavi talks with mom in apartment, about Minnie losing her baby. Gavi remembers how she felt when she lost her own baby. Mom hugs and consoles her. Mom says she can have other children - Gavi says there's only one man she wants to have children with - Rodrigooo - but now that's impossible because he's married.

* Rod sits at desk, twirling pencil in dark, recalling his conversation with Gaviota in the tent during the thunderstorm. She told him her feelings when she lost her baby. Rod says to himself, "our love story hasn't ended. one day we will be together and have many children. So it will be, Gaviota, So it will be."

* Gavi prays at home altar shelf for Minnie and her loss.

* James carries the suitcases and walks Sofia down stairs. Rod and Isa wait with Roman. James asks Sofia to make a reservation for him at a hotel for one night - long enough for an overnight sleep and then he will take a plane back to London. Sofia offers him a room for the night at Granny's mansion. James thanks her for the offer. The ladies say good-bye and James escorts them out to the car. Rod and Roman stay behind - Rod asks him about the distillery shipments and the workers for the spring harvest. Roman asks how long he will remain at the ranch - Rod says he wants to see the workers arrive, maybe Gaviota and her mom are with them.

* Mariana (Gavi) gets upset with Lopez on the phone - apparently there's a transportation glitch at the border crossing (the drivers can't cross). She hangs up as Nestor approaches and asks what's wrong. Mariana explains the problem with the border crossing, which will cause delays and problems for the rest of the product distribution network. Nestor tells Mariana to get him the paperwork, he'll see what he can do. Nestor leaves. Mariana starts to type on computer keyboard, Elvira says she'll go and fax something to Rodrigo at the ranch. Mariana nods, takes a deep breath and will wait for his response.

* Rod enters his office and finds the fax on his fax machine. He is very curious about what it is about. Elvira tells Mariana that Rod is on the phone. Mariana uses Aaron's office to take the call. Mariana speaks in her lower than normal voice; Rod royally scolds Mariana for sending such an incomplete unprofessional fax to him involving problems with the company. He hangs up. (how rude!) Mariana is shocked.

* Aaron with Minnie in her hospital room. Fedra listens as Minnie rants her depression over losing her unborn baby. Aaron tries to console her and say he feels sad over the loss too. She thinks he's only sad because he lost his key to grandpa's fortune. Aaron turns away from Minnie - Fedra comes to him to help him keep calm. He takes a deep breath and tries again to console Minnie. She's upset wondering if she can try again. Fedra says that when the time is right, they can try again - only the next time she will be mature about it.

* Mariana is in shock as she returns to her desk. Elvira opens her big mouth and starts to antagonize Mariana about being scolding over the phone by Rod. Elvira wants to know what he said to her. Mariana says it's none of her business. Mariana calls Margarita at the reception desk for help in getting the document information for Rod. Elvira sits and laughs at Mariana. "Ha-ha-ha. Enjoying all the hot gossip." Mariana mentions waiting for a call about Minnie. Elvira says the call already came in. Mariana asks about it - Elvira says no bad news for you, Minnie is out of danger and will go home tomorrow. Mariana turns to her computer screen and prays a thank you to G-d.

* On the restaurant balcony, Meliton and James meet to discuss the fields and harvests, especially of James' peanut crop. Problems with distribution and marketing are hampering the effort. James is worried about what will happen to his crops while he is away in Mexico City and London. Meliton tells him that Acacia suggested to burn the crops - James is stunned.

* Mariana and Margarita sit and gossip in whispers about Elvira. Elvira interrupts and gives Mariana some tissue; to use in case Rod yells at her on the phone and breaks her eardrums. Mariana and Margarita are scared. Mariana goes to her desk and takes the call. She uses her low voice to talk with Rod about the second fax that was just sent to him - the problem with the current seed (pipa). She suggests they should look into using another seed. This time the call ends peacefully. Rod thinks maybe he misjudged her, she's more intelligent that he assumed. Margarita, who listened to Mariana on the phone, asks her why she changed her voice - Mariana says she wants to be more respected.

* At hospital, Minnie wakes up and is startled to see Aaron sitting there on the sofa in her room. She thought he would be at work. They get into an argument about her jealousy which caused the accident. Aaron tells her his plan to keep it a secret between the two of them, no one else. Knock at the door. Aaron lets Sofia and Isa inside. Minnie tells them she's much better, especially since Aaron hasn't left her side the whole time.

* In the kitchen at Dry Gulch Ranch, Acacia is ripping out the guts from the chicken as Meliton enters. He mentions how hot it is outside and asks for a cup of water. Acacia drops the guts in a spare bowl and pours a cup. She leaves it on the table and returns to cutting the head off the chicken. She asks how the meeting with "Sr. Ingles" went. Meliton briefly fills her in - then mentions at first there's enthusiasm then later boredom.

* James talks with Rod in the office. Rod tells him about Sofia. James explodes over his meeting with Meliton and the problems with his peanut crops. He says that Acacia suggested burning the crops - HIS PEANUT CROPS! He's outraged. Rod offers his assistance. James declines, he wants to resolve this himself. James will have to cancel his trip to the capitol. Rod laughs at the ironic timing, due to the problem he has to fix for his own family business. He mentions Mariana Franco.

* In the hospital room, Sofia offers chocolates to Minnie - Minnie declines. Isa eats one and says it's delicious. Aaron takes two. Minnie asks Sofia about James - Sofia reports about the new beginning of their friendship. Isa remarks about the happiness of a true love story. A knock at the door. Aaron answers. Mariana is there to say hello to Minnie and bring her flowers. Aaron introduces her to Isa, Rod's wife (Gavi chokes on her saliva). Mariana enters and says hello to Sofia. She presents the flowers to Minnie. Minnie turns into a fiera beast and attacks Mariana for daring to even come. Aaron scolds Minnie for her jealousy and follows Mariana out the door.

* In the hallway, Aaron stop Mariana to apologize. Mariana understands. Aaron asks about the company - any problems he needs to handle. Mariana says there was one, but she has passed along all the information so Rod can handle it. Aaron's cell phone rings - it's Pamela calling him "Bichie" (I think). Mariana leaves. Aaron tells her about Minnie losing the baby and he can't see her right now. Pamela says that is fine, she's accompanying her dad to Germany so she will be out of touch with him anyway.

* At the ranch, a representative with the International Agri Congress meets with Rod in the living room. Rod is so excited about the convention being in Mexico City this year. The rep says it would be wonderful if Rod would speak at the convention about agave crops and production. Rod is intrigued until the representative mentions the date is March 26 -- nope, no can do. that's the middle of harvest and Rod can't leave. Representative tells Rod to think it over for a few days - but Rod is adamant in his decision about not leaving the ranch on that day.

* Sofia and Isa in hallway at hospital. Sofia is upset James stayed at ranch. Isa is getting used to it - Rod refuses to leave the ranch, or stop obsession over Gaviota search, for nothing. Sofia says don't worry one way or another he will give up Gaviota. Aaron comes out of the room to join them - Minnie finally fell asleep. Isa asks for a ride back to her penthouse. Aaron offers to drive her. Isa bluntly asks Aaron if he is in any way involved with Mariana or Pamela. Aaron is stunned by the question and defends himself and his marriage. Sofia asks about the photo of him with Pamela - he says that she is an old friend nothing more.

* Pamela holds a photo of her and Aaron - she cries that they are now just simply friends - friends on occasion.

* Gavi prays to the virgin about Minnie again. Clara enters smiling and talkative. She asks about the flowers - Gavi explains they were for Minnie but she rejected them. They go to the kitchen - Gavi opens the manila envelope to check the legal papers for changing her name to Mariana permanently. Clara is fixing sandwiches for lunch. Gavi tells her mom about talking on the phone with Rod. Clara is stunned, intrigued - Gavi says she used her Mariana persona and voice so Rod wouldn't know it was her. Gavi then tells mom about meeting Isa at the hospital; she says Isa is very beautiful now she knows how he fell in love with her.

* At penthouse, as Isa says good night to Aaron at the door. Aaron casually, very subtle invites himself inside for a nightcap (whiskey). They sit down and discuss Isa's marriage to Rod. She confides her frustration to him.

* Gavi has her head down on the countertop and thinks of Rod and their rainstorm conversation - he loves her and only her. Mom consoles her and knows what she's thinking about. Gavi is frustrated and tired of always thinking about Rod. Clara thinks same thing happened to the soap character Berenice in "Corazones Enga~adas". Gavi says but this is different because it isn't tragedy. With a new name, she will take on her identity and new life and not make room for love or any man to hurt her again.

* Rod talks with sis Dani over the phone - Dani is on a theatrical road tour in Chicago now.

* Acacia runs away from the hacienda. James sees her and yells to her. Ofelia comes out to escort him inside.

* In office, Rod is hard at work. James sits down and is depressed about his peanut farm harvest - no buyers anywhere. Rod says to stay calm. James can't calm down, it's a matter of his honor and dream. Rod tells him he is playing a dangerous game with Acacia at the ranch. James realizes it and he just saw her now at this hacienda. Rod is shocked that she was there. James is determined to save his crops and not let Meliton or Acacia burn them. Rod changes the subject and tells James about the International Ag Congress convention in Mexico City - he can't attend because it is on March 26 (his date with Gavi). James can't believe he would rather blow off his family and this convention for her. Rod tells his friend off for even saying that.

* Isa talks with Aaron about her husband and her increasing sexual obsession since he won't even touch her. Aaron starts to seduce her and tell her what he supposes she wants to hear. He plants a huge hard kiss on her lips - she responds.

Zorro Monday May 7, 2007: Where Monty makes an offer that Esme can refuse and Sara Kali finds sanctuary in the Mission.

Dolores is reacting to the news that Esmeralda is dead. She is worried about the fate of the de la Vega family (we start out of the gate with ulcer number one).

Garcia/SAM tells Juan that Montero ordered Pizarro to be executed.

Mariangel is rolling around on her bed wondering what really happened to Esme and gloating about how now she’ll have the de la Vega fortune.

Diego goes to see Al and asks him what’s up with Esme. He tells Al that he found a letter from Esme in his stuff, so he knows that he loved her, but when he heard that she died he didn’t know how to react because he cannot remember her. He asks Al if the baby she was carrying was his. Al feels guilty for not filling Diego in on all the details, he tells him that he thought it was best to give him the info little by little. Diego is upset. Diego leaves and Al mutters about the sad state of affairs and how there is so much sorrow.

Auggie is in the prison trying to help the ‘iron’ masked Esme drink some water.

Laisha is getting harassed by the soldier accompanying her to the gitano hideout. She tells him she needs some privacy to take care of some ‘personal’ stuff and he refuses because he doesn’t trust her. So she squats down in front of him and out jumps Renzo from behind a bush. Renzo knocks out the soldier and off he and Laisha run…..

Piza, following Monty’s orders, talks his loyal soldiers telling them what a great job they did and then he pulls out two pistols and shoots them.

Sister Suplicios/Nutty Nun (still like Nutty as her name) is out walking and sees Camba in a courtyard of some sort and he is flogging himself. Nutty has a flashback to when she did the same thing to herself. She mutters that he is the same as her, I think she might be putting the pieces together about where her little demon friend went after he was excised from her body.

Jonas goes to visit Padre Tomas and they discuss Sara Kali/Mercedes. Jonas tells PT that it is a lie that SK is the true queen of Spain. She is only important because she was the governor’s wife. Jonas asks PT to keep SK hidden in the Mission, there is no way that Monty would suspect her being hidden there. PT agrees.

Fernando and his band of merry men are rallying to go fight Monty and his men. One of FS’s own asks what chance they have of defeating Monty when his numbers are so high and their’s are so low. Fernando says that they will cut off the head of the serpent and that should take care of it. The soldier points out that Monty has a personal guard, and FS comes up with a plan to get Monty and his guard isolated from the rest of the soldiers.

Monty visits Esme in prison. He offers to remove her mask, for the price of her sleeping with him. She tells him that she’d rather die first.

Al gets his men ready, they are also going to take on Monty and his men. Al asks Juan about SAM and Juan brings Al up to speed on the chisme of Pizarro’s death. Dena begs Al to not go fight this war. Al tells her that he has to do this.

SAM is riding his donkey and talking to her. He plans on leaving town and going to his uncles, who is a farmer. He comes across Pizarro. Piza tells SAM that there were only blanks shot at him, that Monty did it to test Piza. Piza assures SAM that he has the same plans as always, to save the queen from Monty and he asks SAM if he is still with him. SAM says sure.

Diego finds Bernardo and demands to know the truth about Esme. Diego lets Bernie know that he knows that Esme was pregnant, but he wants to know why she was killed.

Renzo is angry with Laisha. He feels that she was going to betray SK. Laisha says she was tortured, but the gitanas were freed because she made a deal with Monty. Laisha blames Esme for all of this, and then she brings up her trump card, Miguel died for Esme.

Maria Pia goes to talk to Padre Tomas, while she is there Jonas arrives with Sara Kali, wearing a hood for a disguise. PT tells Maria Pia that SK has come to the Mission for a spiritual retreat. MP feels bad that she interrupted and she leaves.
Esme talks to her bebé, daddy will come and save us soon.

Mangle talks to her bebé, you are going to be so useful for me, we’re going to be rich.

Fernando and the merry men arrive at the hacienda and come face to face with Al and his troops.

Monty mutters about his plans to get Fernando’s money. Zorro pays a little visit to Monty, demanding to see Esme’s body. Monty wonders why Zorro wants this, but says there is no way he’s going to show Zorro anything but his sword. The two start their swordfight, Monty has his hand on his hip like he’s fencing, strange. Monty shouts out for his soldiers to come back him up. Zorro punches Monty and in come the soldiers. Some wacky antics ensue, Zorro pulls the rug out under their feet and knocks them all out cold.

Al points his sword at Fernando and calls him the murderer of innocents. Al goes on to say that he knows why Maria Pia refused to marry Fernando and that Fernando killed Regina/Purina. Al punches FS. FS orders his merry men to stay out of it, it is between him and Al. Al punches FS again, FS doesn’t fight back. Al punches him again. FS admits to the two groups of men that he killed Al’s wife, that to him all Indians are the same, but if he knew that Al’s wife was in the Indian camp, he would not have attacked it out of respect for Al and his woman. Al gets angered by this little speech and pulls out his pistol and aims it at Fernando.

Jonas finds Javier and finds out that Laisha betrayed them. Javier, the chismoso, fills Jonas in on what’s been going on…..Monty freed the gitanas. Jonas thinks that’s strange, He orders Javier to take a census of the gitanos. Azucena/Susie arrives and she is happy. She demands info from Jonas, and he tells her that Esme is dead. Susie is worried about Renzo, her son (ulcer two).

FS demands that Al shoot him and end it all. Al lowers his pistol and tells FS that he can’t shoot him because 1)he’s not a murderer like Fernando and 2)out of respect & love for his wife Dena, he wouldn’t kill her brother. Al says he’ll never forgive Fernando, Al mentions that he’s got to go now, he’s got something to settle with Monty. Fernando says no way, Monty’s mine. FS says he wants to get his governorship back, and Al is disgusted, with all the other, terrible things that Monty’s done FS only care about himself. Al tells FS that Monty killed Esme.

Renzo tells Laisha that he wants to go find Esme because he promised SK that he’d take care of her daughter. Laisha says you’re not doing it because of a promise, but because you love Esme. Renzo admits he loves her. Laisha continues with her pity party and says that she knew love with Miguel, but she failed him. She admits to Renzo that she slept with Monty in order to save Miguel when they had him in prison and Monty went ahead and killed Miguel anyway. Renzo says he understands, and Laisha lashes out and tells him that he’ll never understand, but someday he’ll suffer as she has suffered.

Esme hears the raucous and figures out that Diego has come to save her.

Zorro escapes, and avoids getting hit by the gunfire from Monty’s soldiers stationed on the rooftops. He pulls out his pistols and shoots at the soldiers and then at Monty. He only aims at Monty’s feet, so we are treated to a little dancing from Monty. Gosh, I wish that Zorro would have just made us all happy and aimed a little higher.

Auggie tells Esme that this is all her fault and he’s not going to end up dead like the other soldiers. Esme says this is all due to Monty’s misguided ambition. Auggie tells Esme that she’s his ticket to not dying, he’ll kill anyone who comes down to her cell.

Diego/Zorro meets up with Bernie. He questions how his life ended up this way.

Fernando doesn’t believe that Monty would have killed Esme. Al says that they got the news from Mangle, and why would she lie. FS says he knows Monty and then Al compares the two men. FS tells Al to send his men home, FS and the merry men will take on Monty. Al agrees to go home.

Nutty has gone out to gather flowers and she hears gunshots. Camba comes running past her and she realizes that Camba is being chased by slave hunters.

Renzo and Laisha meet up with the other gitanos. Renzo finds out that Esme is dead and he can’t believe it. He feels as if he has failed and he tells Laisha now he knows what it is like to lose someone you love. He runs off . Jonas and Susie are worried he’ll go after Monty and end up in trouble (ulcers 3 & 4).

Someone comes down to Esme’s cell and Auggie shoots at them, but he has just as bad of aim as every other character on this show. It was Monty. He congratulates Auggie on doing his job and then tells him to go away. He talks to Esme and tries to make her start doubting her mother and Diego. Why haven’t they come for her, they have to know she’s being held in the prison. He adds that Diego must be too happy with Mangle, oh and yeah, he heard that Mangle is expecting a baby. He let’s Esme know that Mangle begged for Diego’s life and Monty agreed. So, Esme should be thankful.

Nutty chases after Camba (not a wise idea when men with guns and snapping dogs are also hot on his trail). She catches up with him and they run together. They tumble down and Camba pulls off Nutty’s bonnet. He looks at her like he’s noticed for the first time that she’s a woman. Camba starts beating himself again and the slave hunters catch up to them. Nutty goes and hides behind a tree and the S/Hs start to beat Camba themselves.

Diego asks Dena to tell him about Esme, but she says it is too soon, she’s still hurting from the news of Esme’s death. Al returns and Dena goes to greet him. The couple rehashes his running into Fernando.

Renzo comes across Nutty in the woods. She collapses at his feet.

Al and Diego (okay, my notes say “D”, so I’m thinking it was Diego, but perhaps it was Dena---can’t remember and figure with the rehashing in tonight’s episode it will be cleared up, but if one of you wants to deny or confirm this, that’d be great) talk about Esme and what would Monty gain from killing her. Al says that Fernando suspects that Esme really isn’t dead, but that Monty is holding her somewhere (wonder where that would be, the prison perhaps?).

Monty comes back to the prison cell, and tells Auggie to leave once again. This time he’s drunk and decides that he’s going to make good on his offer to remove the mask in exchange for a conjugal visit with his wife. She’s not willing to cooperate and Monty starts to force himself on her, telling her that she will be his. END OF EPISODE/ Ulcer Count = 4

Duelo—Monday May 8—Transmission Troubles; A New Man in Black

[Note: We had a sudden cloudburst at around 6:15 pm central that messed up a big section of the story for the Tivo. I lost about 15 minutes. I did not realize this until I was watching it later. If someone or ones could fill in the gap, I am sure we’d all be grateful]

We left off with Orlando and Gaspar, fighting in the cave. Orlando starts it by threatening him and actually shooting him with his gun, over whether Gaspar knows where Flor is. Orlando, who apparently flunked his military science class in close quarters fighting, misses Gaspar when the bullet hits the cave wall behind him. No ricochet. Tonkey the wonderdog inserts himself into the fight by jumping, slo-mo, and knocking the pistol from Orlando’s hand. They go mano-a-mano and Orlando is easily outclassed by ex-luchador, Gaspar. Gaspar helicopters Orlando before doing a bodyslam against the wall, the table, flipping him over and slamming him against the floor. Orlando is down for the count and Gaspar is now worried he killed him.

Meanwhile, Angel has gone to visit Padre Cristobal with Ifigenio to see if he knows anything about Flor’s whereabouts. Padre Cristobal is totally out of the loop and is happy to find out that she’s escaped. He asks Angel to keep him informed. He hurries out. Angel tells Ifigenio that they should get the military involved to search for Emilio.

Back at the cave, Luba arrives and finds Gaspar, his lip bleeding, mewling about how he killed “the Lieutenant.” Luba kicks the unconscious Orlando and he rolls around on the floor. He’s not dead, he gets up, with the gun, mad as hell. He waves the gun around and threatens them both that if they don’t tell him where Flor is, he’ll denounce Gaspar to the authorities for beating him up. Luba pulls out her knife and tells him he’s wasting his time. She spins a yarn that Flor showed up but she wouldn’t let her stay because she was afraid of problems with Don Loco. “She went way up into the mountains,” says Luba. Orlando threatens them if he finds out they are lying. He leaves kicking the furniture on his way out. Luba screams after him something like “your grandmother was an idiot” and that “Gaspar is my son.”

Over at Nora’s, Nora is roughly placing a pillow behind Emilio’s head. She’s not trying to be mean, she’s just freaking out. Suddenly her house is full of people running away from Don Loco. Alina tells her to be careful. Nora asks who shot Emilio but before Alina can tell her, Adela comes in. Hugs all around! There are the explanations: Flor is on the lam, again. Adela’s been fired from the hacienda de Loco. Alina is impactada at this news. She asks about her Mom. Adela shakes her head. DL “has become her shadow” she says. “He doesn’t leave her for a minute.”

And we switch over to DL who is waiting next to the bed in Soledad’s room. Soledad has just taken a bath and still has her robe on. She asks to not be tied up today. DL considers that she deserves a break, after “last night.” Soledad wants to talk. She wants to know about Alina’s wedding. DL says that he has already promised that they will go to the wedding. He’s just waiting to find out when the date is. “What about your sister?” DL responds that Mariana hasn’t been eating lately and he’s going to have to put her in a home in San Mateo.

Over in Mariana’s room, Alfonsina is cutting Mariana’s fingernails. She’s happy that Mariana’s not eating. All the faster to send her to the home. Mariana thought bubbles that she can’t stand Alfonsina anymore, that the home is sounding like a great idea and OUCH! Alfonsina smirks and apologizes that she cut too much. She tells Mariana that “it’s good that you don’t feel anything, because I could cut one of your fingers off and you wouldn’t make a fuss.” She leaves the room. Mariana thought bubbles that she FELT the clippers! “I could get well!”

Back to Soledad and DL. Soledad is shocked that DL wants to stick Soledad in the home in San Mateo, which apparently is an old folks home. What Mariana needs is physical therapy, not maintenance. A Hospital would be better. If only he’d let Dr. FonsecaDL is tired of this topic. He tells her he’s had enough and has to go to the coffee fields. He kisses Soledad and leaves. Soledad ponders what lies ahead for poor Mariana.

Mariana is still suffering through Alfonsina’s careless pedicure. Her toes are all cut up and bleeding so Alfonsina applies alcohol on a cotton. She makes another snide comment about how she can’t feel anything. When Alfonsina’s back is turned, Mariana wiggles her toes and smiles a tiny smile.

Over at Nora’s Alina and Adela are finishing up their discussion about DL, Soledad, Emilio and how they ended up there when Alina happens to mention her getting married. Nora butts in. “So you are getting married?” Alina explains that Orlando proposed to her, she accepted but DL threatened to put Soledad in a mental institution if she went through with it. “That’s why I had to leave la Rinconada.” Over on the bed, Emilio is muttering Alina.

It looks like another segue into another Emilio sex dream of Alina and he bathing nude by the waterfall but no----instead we are treated to a crazed Orlando on horseback screaming “Alina!” for no particular reason. He announces to the air that he’s sure that DL had something to do with her disappearance. B

ack at the cave, Luba is fixing Gaspar’s boo-boos from the fight. Gaspar wants to go to la Rinconada to find out if his “cub” was born yet. Luba tells him no. It’s too dangerous. She can find out for him but he should stay. Yeah, I’m sure he’ll be content with that.

Meanwhile, at La Rinconada, The SA (who is wearing yet another dramatic ensemble of pale blue chiffon and silver sequins) is holding Thelma’s baby and singing one of her awful songs. Thelma tells her to stop; she’s going to wake the baby. The SA proclaims that the baby is sound asleep (No thanks to you, Auntie. Maybe he’s deaf). Thelma complains that the baby cried all night long. She’s afraid that the entire world knows that there’s a baby in the house. SA asks Thelma if she thinks that Gaspar has found out yet. Thelma is panic stricken about this. Emilio has to get home, and fast, otherwise, she’ll have to go back to Puebla with Auntie and baby. Auntie balks at the idea. “Maybe I don’t want to go back to Puebla now.” Thelma says WHAT?” “Oh, says the SA, with a sly smile. I have plans. It’s a surprise.”

Don Max and Castulo are conversing in Don Max’s room. Don Max is putting on his black jacket with the snakeskin trim. He’s bitching about how there’s no way in hell he’s going to marry “that cockatoo” (the SA). He tells Castulo that first they must destroy the letter she wrote, documenting the crimes she overheard him say he committed. Then… they “can find a way to get rid of that old woman.”

Nora, Alina and Adela are still sitting around the table at Nora’s place. Nora points out that DL did Alina a favor by stopping the wedding. “If you had married that lieutenant, it would have been a big mistake.” Alina disagrees. She tells the women that she wanted to do it to save her Mom. Now she can’t do anything to help her. Besides, she can’t be with Emilio.” It’s better that I marry someone else and try to fall in love again.” Emilio, over on the bed wakes up just in time to hear that speech. He thought bubbles about how Alina doesn’t love him. He looks depressed.

[Here is where the satellite kicked out]

Luba has made it over to Nora’s I guess and she’s giving Emilio a talking to. Emilio is alert, awake and sitting up in bed. Emilio is going back and forth on how much he loves Flor…but he can’t leave Thelma and abandon his child. Luba gets up exasperated and starts waving her arms around. “But why do you care about this child when it’s not even yours!” Luba yells. Emilio is just about the most impactado I’ve ever seen him do. He’s impactado right into the commercial.

When we get back, Luba realizes that she let her mouth run and now she’s got some ‘splaining to do. Her mouth is open, she fingers her pigtails nervously. “Gee I am stupid…that’s not what I meant…stammer stammer. ” Emilio seems to be content with that explanation. “I heard what I wanted to hear. Something that would free me from this obligation.” He compares himself to Gaspar, stupidly thinking that Thelma is his “little doll.” Emilio says he no longer wants to talk about it. Luba agrees gratefully.

Luba thought bubbles an apology to the Virgin of Peace for not telling Emilio the truth. She’s afraid for herself and her son, that the chief will find them. (Not sure how these fears go together but they certainly loom large in Luba’s mind.)

Over at La Rinconada. The SA and Castulo are talking. Apparently she discovered him checking out her room. She guesses that he’s looking for the note, bidden by Don Max. SA tells him he’ll never find it. “If something happens to me, only my niece knows where I keep my valuables. She’ll find it.” Castulo looks chagrined. He tells her that he was sent by Don Max to find her because he wants to talk to her. This announcement sends the SA all atwitter and she starts fixing her hair, breathing hard, etc. and murmuring Maximo! Maximo! Castulo can’t get away fast enough. SA announces to the air that “FINALLY! FINALLY! I will no longer be an OLD MAID!”

Over at the Loco Hacienda, Angel has arrived with Ifigenio. Still on horseback, still with the Bandana tied around his head, he asks DL and Sergio whether they have seen his brother. He says he knows that they’ve had words. DL looks at Sergio and smiles. “Now why would you think that your brother and I have a disagreement.” [Oh, I don’t know, maybe because you SHOT him on his wedding day?] Orlando is on horseback by an old stone wall, watching Angel interact with DL. Orlando thinks it’s funny that Angel is confronting him. “This is going to be good” he says looking through binoculars. Alina comes upon him, with a scarf tied around her head. She heads off in another direction to avoid him.

We next have a scene with the Indian Chief who has gotten better thanks to his new curandera (folk remedy doctor) and he’s asking her for something else. Not for his sickness but for his anger (coraje) because he hasn’t been able to find the woman who killed his son. He has to find her and take her life as a blood debt. The curandera looks nervous. Maybe there is professional courtesy among curanderas.

Back at Hacienda de Loco, DL is urging Angel to look for Emilio up higher in the mountains or in the ravine .” Angel comments that he thought that DL might have known something ... Emilio had been out all night and hadn’t returned. “What do you think?” asks DL “That I have him tied up in the basement, like he did to me?” Angel tries to speak again and DL cuts him off. He says he thinks “The girl left because she decided not to get married.” He had people out looking for her and he was sure they would find her soon. At the very least, he wanted her caught so that “the Captain” wouldn’t be blaming him. DL insinuates that Emilio and Alina went off together. Angel challenges this and says his brother would never break a promise. He mentions that Emilio is married and DL seems surprised by this information. Angel turns his horse and vows to keep informed about whether either Alina or his brother return to hacienda de Loco. After he leaves, DL makes a crack about how manly Emilio is next to his “dead faced” brother. DL walks back into the house. Orlando, watching, thinks that Angel and DL have cut some kind of deal. (llegaron a un allegro?). He is sure that DL is hiding something. [He’s wrong—DL is hiding everything!]

Alfonsina is in Mariana’s room, trying on Mariana’s clothes. She tells her that she’s going to take some for herself since Mariana is never going to use them again. Suddenly, there’s a knock at the window. It’s Hugo! They embrace and kiss eachother, right in front of Mariana. In a leather bag, he carries THE BOX. He gets it out and opens it for Alfonsina. Whatever the object is inside, it doesn’t glow anymore but it only takes one glance from anyone to know what it is and it’s significance. It’s very mysterious, already!!! We get the point.

Gaspar is with Tonkey in the cave. Tonkey starts barking and Gaspar tries to shut him up. Alina comes in. Perhaps that’s why Tonkey was making a fuss. Alina explains that Luba has gone to stay at Nora’s tonight to check on Emilio, and she will stay the night in the cave. Then they will switch off again in the Morning. Alina is sad.

Alfonsina and Hugo are jubilant about the contents of THE BOX. Hugo says that they’ll be able to get a lot of money for it from DL. He asks Alfonsina if DL knows of it’s existence. Alfonsina says she’ll try to find out. They scurry off. Mariana thought bubbles her confusion and wonder at what can be inside THE BOX!

Back to Luba, sleeping in a chair and Emilio on his small bed. Luba wakes up with a premonition that something bad is about to happen with THE BOX.

Over at Edelmira’s, Grani is sweeping the floor and Santos/Jacinto is there asking for information. Grani tells him that they guy who was asking about him the other day was back. Santos/Jacinto starts asking questions about “Captain Valtierra” and if the guy worked for him, or if he had been there. Grani explains that Edelmira’s is not the kind of place he’d hang out. “And why do you want so much information about Captain Valtierra anyway?” Santos/Jacinto explains that a guy named “Jaime” who works at La Rinconada told him that Captain Valtierra wanted to kill him. Grani is impactado. But then everything seems to make him impactado.
Over at la Rinconada, the SA (who has changed her outfit to a long, black, sequined “Dragon Lady” dress) confronts Maximo. “Your employee was hunting around in my room.” Max tries to calm her down by telling her that he’s decided to accept her proposal. He wants to begin their courtship. This sends the SA into a tizzy.Grani and Santos/Jacinto are still talking. S/J says he doesn’t know who Captain Valtierra wants to kill him and asks Grani. Grani doesn’t know and when S/J tells him that Jaime is the one filling him in, Grani says to trust him. “He’s a good guy, good to his wife. I never see him here.”

Nora is outside hanging around when Adela brings a bundle of wood. Adela asks her why she’s not inside. Adela guesses that she wants to avoid Luba and all talk about THE BOX. Nora agrees, she’s afraid of Luba.

Luba’s got problems of her own. She’s fanning herself with a letter that apparently Emilio gave her to take to San Mateo. She suddenly says aloud. “I can’t leave the mountain!” She’s thinking about the chief and how he would find her and kill her and Gaspar.” She wakes Emilio and tells him she can’t take the letter. Emilio is impactado into the commercial. Over at the cave, Gaspar is giving Alina a flower. Gaspar fills Alina in about Orlando’s visit and how he almost killed him. Alina is sad when she finds out that Orlando is still out looking for her. “How long am I going to have to hide?”

Emilio begs Luba to take the letter. She’s the only one who can do it. Luba suggests that Nora and Adela are equally trustworthy but Emilio is unwilling to take the risk. He trusted Orlando and then he betrayed him with Alina. Luba tries to explain to him that Adela is very solid (es de ley) but Emilio tells her that if she can’t deliver the letter, she must return it to him “and no help will ever come for Alina.” Luba’s eyes get big and round at the threat.

The guys working out in the cafetal are taking a water break. One guy asks where old Jeremías is. Another guy answers that he’s been missing for days. Even his wife doesn’t know where he is. “Ah, he finally got lost for good!” They have a laugh. [At first, I thought…what the heck...this scene makes no sense here! But we segue in the next scene to Elias in the prison. Suddenly it doesn’t look so out of place---two people in SE are missing now, since the fire. Dr. Love and that old sinvergüenza would-be rapist Jeremías. Wanna guess which one died in the fire and which one is paying the jailors to keep Elias from getting killed?]The crazy guy who tried to kill him earlier sits down across from Elias at dinner. Elias tries to get away from him but the crazy guy says he just wants to talk. He says he won’t try to hurt him again, since he knows that he’s got the jailors paid off. But “where there’s money…that’s where I am.” Elias tells him he isn’t paying anyone. “Then someone on the outside is” says the crazy guy. “You probably know who he is.” The crazy guy wants him to ask the guy for more money or he’ll tell the authorities about this guy. ??? Not sure what kind of a threat this is since “the authorities” are the ones getting the lana.In the next scene we see a hotel counter and a guy in a black hat comes up to the counter guy and hands him a wad of bills. He’s staying another night. Also, if anyone asks for him, tell them he’s not there. His name? Ricardo Fonseca. It’s Dr. Love! He’s dressed in black with a black hat. He seems to have lost the bow tie and acquired a plaid shirt, a bolo tie, dark glasses and some stubble. He’s no Castulo but at least he fits in a little better out here in macholand. Back to the cafetal—the workers are cutting with machetes, when suddenly one of them cuts himself. The foreman pours water over it but it’s a nasty cut. Don’t worry, he says, we have a curandera. Her name is Luba. Suddenly the guy straightens up. He’s the friend of the Chief!
At Nora’s Luba is having another one of her premonitions that something bad is going to happen. She can’t decide what to do with the letter. Emilio asks her again what she’s going to do. She decides she will go. Emilio says he’s glad that the letter is in her hands. The chiefs’s bud asks a bunch of questions about Luba and the Foreman obligingly fills in details about where she lives, her son, etc. “I’ll take you there later” he obligingly says. He offers to let the wounded man rest but the guy says he can still work.

Over at Hacienda de Loco, Don Loco and Sergio are in conversation. Or rather DL is ranting and Sergio is listening. He’s ticked that Orlando and Angel are still looking for Emilio. He’s wishing he would turn up dead already so that they would give up. [I think he calls Angel “a worm ridden beggar”—“un mendigo lombriciente”] Sergio offers to kill them both. DL says he’ll take care of it. With more subtlety apparently. His only worry is that Soledad find out and it impede their reconciliation. Sergio asks if all of that is just an act to get Soledad. DL says at first it was, but now he really does want to get back with her.

At la Rinconada. The SA is holding Thelma’s baby (who has grown a lot, by the way ) and rocking him in her arms while recounting the story of Don Max’s acceptance. We’re going to start going out! (Vamos a empezarrrrr a salirrrrrr!) Thelma, still in bed, looks disgusted and tells her she’s nuts. Orlando comes in and shuts the door, which pops open again, cheapo telenovela set door that it is. Orlando also looks disgusted. He tells Thelma that he couldn’t find Emilio anywhere, nor Flor, and he’s sure that DL is holding them both. He has no proof, just a feeling. Thelma says she’s sure that Emilio is in trouble.

Meanwhile, Emilio is with Luba. He’s getting ancy to see Alina because he wants to apologize to her for the millionth time. Luba is getting yet another premonition. This time when she looks at the letter, she drops a bucket and nearly faints. Emilio asks her what’s wrong. Luba brushes it off. Then he asks when she’s going to San Mateo. Luba tells him, “when you are better.”

Santos/Jacinto is creeping around La Rinconada. He finds the open carriage and hides inside when he hears people coming. It’s Jaime and Castulo. Jaime props a shotgun against the carriage and they converse about the missing Emilio. Vera shows up and tells Jaime that she’s made his favorite mole. Castulo says “Let’s eat!” and runs off to the house. Jaime says disgustedly to Vera, “Who invited him?” They leave the shotgun behind. Next, Angel and Ifigenio come up to the carriage. They are talking about their search when suddenly Santos/Jacinto stands up and grabs the shotgun, saying “you don’t have to look any farther for me, I’m right here.” Angel and Ifigenio are surprised AND impactado to say the least.

Back in the cave, Alina is helping prepare some stuff for Luba to treat Emilio when Don Loco comes sauntering in. He asks where Luba is and Alina tells him she went to gather firewood. DL asks Gaspar to beat it so that he can talk to Alina alone. Gaspar leaves and takes Tonkey with him. DL tells Alina to come with him, he’s going to take her to her mother. “Why? Did something happen?” asks Alina. Don Loco tells her that she’s got to convince her mother that she’s preparing everything for her wedding. Alina is impactado. And yes, as Chris noted the pattern, in this final scene, we get a shot of Alina’s cleavage peeking out from her unbuttoned plaid shirt.

La Fea Más Bella #269 5/7/07 Aurora is High Maintenance, but We Knew that Already

First, we get a bit of footage from Friday: Jack Reynolds wants his money back. The Cuartel want pictures with the Mujer Fake-iosta and Lety tells them to have at it. Fernando, Aldo, and Marcia berate Omar for his idiocy. Aldo fires Omar.

Omar leaves the boardroom looking like a kicked puppy, muttering about how nobody understands him. Yes, dear, we know.

Lety sits in her office talking to herself about how it's her fault, well, Aurora's fault. Aldo and Fernando come in and ask her if she talked to JR. Lety complains that they thought she would have the problem solved already. She says she'll find a way to fix it and leaves the office. Aldo says he's going to call Caro and ask if she can desmarañar (untangle) the mystery of the MM.

Marcia, Luigi, and Irma are in Luigi's office. Marcia wants to know if Luigi was involved in the Fake Aurora scam. Luigi protests that Marcia should stop flogging him and that Omar lied to him. Marcia and Luigi share a moment of shock that Omar would lie. Luigi says Omar told him they needed to do some pruebas (test shots), he brought in his little friend, and Luigi fixed her up as Aurora. Marcia tells Luigi that Omar tried to pass her off as the real Aurora, the client is pissed and he wants his advance back, plus an indemnización (indemnity; it's the word of the day!). Luigi says y yo, que (what's that got to do with me?), it was Omar.

Irma leaves Luigi's office and walks into the cuartel's photo shoot in the gossip zone. She breaks the news that it's not the real Aurora. The girls whine about this, while the fake Aurora just looks…vacant? I don't think anybody gave Aurora-for-a-day any direction. The girls complain to Lety, as if she had something to do with it (*snicker*), while Lety walks down to Tomás' office.

In Tomás office, the happy couple are working on the guest list. Alicia is writing down names while Tomás is trying to erase them. They're up to 2,500. Since Tomás can't get her to cut the list down, he gives up and reminds her that he still hasn't talked to her dad about marrying her. He asks Alicia to set up a meeting. Lety walks in and Alicia takes this opportunity to rush out of the office without actually agreeing to get her dad and Tomás together. Lety tells Tomás he has to help her, the situation has gotten complicated (Gotten? Seriously, woman!), Conceptos will have to pay the indemnity and they can be demandadas (sued), and all because Aurora won't do the RetroMod campaign. Tomás reminds her that she IS Aurora. Lety has a mini-breakdown about her two personalities and says she doesn't want anyone to see her dressed up as Aurora. Omar walks in and starts yelling at Lety that he heard everything she said. His yelling brings Aldo and Fernando into the office. Omar tells them that Lety is Aurora and Lety begs Omar not to say any more, but Omar is on a roll. He self-righteously says that she didn't just jugar (play) with him by playing Aurora, she also played with Aldo and Fernando and engañó (deceived) all three of them. She made them all fall in love with her and then she traicionó (betrayed) all of them. And with that, we go to commercial.

Lety wants to explain, but Aldo says nothing can justify what she did. Fernando reminds her that she risked the company, not to mention how she made Omar suffer, and is now making Aldo suffer, and making him suffer. Pobre de Lety, she's so upset the editors threw in a turning-in-circles effect. Tomás says "Lety" a couple of times as Lety sinks sadly into a chair. He wants to know what the look on her face is for since no one's cachado her yet ("catched," caught, nothing official, but I think this is one of those English words that has crept into Mexican Spanish). She said it's because she was imagining what would happen if someone did. Yep, that's right. Imagining. It totally got me the first time, though. Lety says again that she doesn't want anyone to see her dressed up as Aurora and Tomás suggests doing all the filming outside of Conceptos so that no one from Conceptos would see her.

Out in the gossip zone, Alicia is still working on that guest list. She erases someone who she hasn't seen in years and will show up with his whole family. The cuartel says she must have been told to make a small list. Marta tells her to get used to being poor and Alicia tells the spiders to hide because the exterminator is coming. Sara says Tomás won't be able to pay for all of Alicia's "eccentricities" and Lola bemoans the loss of the party at Chapultepec Castle. Paula Maria makes a joke about renting lonas (canvases; tents?) and having the party at the Rejas de Chapultepec (the gates). Alicia calls them harpies and says if they show up they'll be caged. Sara says since they're starting to get along, Alicia is invited to come out with them that night. Alicia sneers about them inviting her to one of those antrejos de quinta (antrejos I can't find, but "de quinta" means crappy), but Marta tells her there will be lots of good food. Alicia looks tempted, but she says she wouldn't go even if she were dying of hunger.

Aldo is pacing in Lety's office and Fernando asks him to stop before he makes un hoyo al piso (a hole in the floor). He wonders what Aldo can sell to pay the indemnización, but Aldo says he doesn't have anything left to sell. Fernando tells him if he doesn't come up with a plan he'll be left with una mano atras y otra delante (one hand in front and the other in back; in other words, he'll be left with nothing) if they don't pay him back. Aldo says maybe he'll keep Conceptos. He and Fernando take out pencils to fence with, but then Aldo says he has a better idea how Fernando can pay him back…what if Fernando becomes Aldo's slave for the rest of his life. First the mano atras y otra delante, then the pencils, now this. Mind. Too. Dirty. Must. Pull. Out. Of. Gutter. Okay, I'm composed now. Where were we? Fernando says it's an excellent idea and he can pelar (scale) the fish Aldo will have to catch with his attaraya (a kind of net) and that way they won't die of hunger. Aldo says it's good that Fernando is in a good mood, but he puts away his pencil because it was all just too much for me. He thinks it's as if Fernando isn't worried about anything, but Fernando says he is and makes to stab Aldo in the eye with his pencil (literally).

Caro comes into the office and breaks up the party. Fernando wants to know what's up with this Aurora that only Caro seems to know. Aldo and Fernando stand on either side of Caro, looking intimidating…or at least as intimidating as one can look with a Farrah flip. Caro says that, as she already told Omar, Aurora went to Europe days and days ago. The guys say that's information is incorrect. Aldo says that JR was with Aurora last night, but this is news to Caro. Aldo asks her to help them because it's going to cost the company a lot of money and Fernando reminds her they're in no position to throw money away. Caro's response is to ask where Lety is (and if these guys weren't paying so much attention to each other, they might have taken that as a hint). Fernando says she's dando vuletas ("going in circles") somewhere in the company and Caro says she'd like to be too. She suggests they talk and that the guys back away because she's hot (yes, dear, we know). The guys say, sure, let's talk. Fernando: "Where's Aurora?" Caro: "And Lety?" Aldo: "Where's Aurora?"

Back in Luigi's office, Marcia is saying that at least if Omar's plan had worked, then…and Lety walks in and says she has to talk to Luigi. Luigi says she should give notice before she walks in, send a fax or something. He says if she's there to regañar (scold) him, he already put up with all of Marcia's litany that practically put him like chanclas of Maria (chanclas are slippers or flip-flops; I think what he means is she beat him with a chancla; threatening to hit someone with a chancla is a threat on the order of "go get my belt" or "cut me a switch"). Lety doesn't know why Marcia would scold him and Marcia tells her Luigi was the one who made up (as in "makeup") the fake Aurora. Luigi tries to explain, but Lety cuts him off and says she wants to talk about something else. Marcia leaves Luigi's office. Luigi wants to know what Lety wants to talk about and reminds her about the joke she made the other day--telling him she was Aurora--which kept him up that night and still makes him laugh when he thinks about it. Lety wants to know what he thinks about filming the RetroMod commercials outside of Conceptos. First he says no, but Lety asks if he can adapt to what she's proposing and he says he can do anything, but he doesn't understand why or what for. Lety says her reasons are personal and she wants Luigi to coordinate with Tomás to meet with JR. He still wants to know what for, since MM isn't still isn't going to show up. Lety says this time she will.

When we come back from commercial, Caro wants to know what's this about firing Omar. The guys explain about Fake Aurora. Caro laments that Omar no tiene remedio (he's hopeless). Fernando says he doesn't want to make her feel guilty, BUT, if the real Aurora had shown up…Aldo: the problem would have been solved quickly. Lety comes in and as she hugs Caro, Caro says they've got her secuestrado (kidnapped, trapped), save me, Lety! Fernando tells Lety to convince Caro to tell them where the famous Aurora is because she won't tell the guys. Lety and Caro share an "if only they knew" look and Lety says she's found a way to get them out of this problem. She's going to meet with JR and make him an offer he can't refuse…I mean, an offer he's going to love. Fernando and Aldo want to go with her, but Lety says no, she has to go alone, they should trust her. Caro says she's leaving as well and asks where Omar is. Fernando thinks he's in Purgatory, but Caro should call his cell and check. That's some damn (ha!) good reception. I'm picturing a Verizon commercial where Omar is in Purgatory with the entire "network." The ladies huddle for safety and leave the room as fast as they can. Fernando and Aldo wonder what's up with Lety. Fernando wants to show up at JR's office and surprise her. Aldo mocks Fernando, saying it's a good idea, but Lety won't think it's funny. Fernando agrees and asks Aldo to bring him a coffee. Aldo wants to know how he takes his coffee: With rat poison? Cyanide? Acid? Fernando tells Aldo to "loosen up" and goes into his cave.

Tomás, aka Aurora's rep, calls JR and tells him Aurora has reviewed her offers and decided for JR's. JR wants them to come to his office and talk it over. Tomás says they'll be there in half an hour. Luigi wants to know how long Tomás has been representonto (a play on representante and tonto). There's some silliness between them about "ladies first" leaving the room.

Marcia is in Fernando's cave talking about how it's strange for Lety to ask to talk to Luigi "in secret." Fernando agrees that Lety's been strange lately. Fernando's phone rings and he shows off his excellent phone-answering skills. Really, he's so proud of himself in front of Marcia, it's like the secretarial equivalent of "accidentally" flexing your biceps. JR's on the horn and he wants to speak to Lety. (Fernando calls him "Monsieur" so I'm thinking maybe the last name actually is "Reynard" and not "Reynolds" as my closed captioning claims.) Fernando says Lety's on her way to the meeting with JR, but JR says he didn't ask her for a meeting.

Meanwhile, at the apartment of the two wild and crazy guys…Omar opens the door to find Carolina. Omar invites her in and thanks her for coming over because he has no one to talk to (poor sad, kicked puppy). Caro says lately she's turned into his confidant. Omar says he's grateful for that and that he's never been a great person and that's why he doesn't have any friends. Caro says except for Fernando, but Omar says Fernando's not his friend because he was on Aldo's side today and they fired him. Caro wants to know if that's why he's feeling so bad. Omar: "Of course." Caro: "If you'll forgive me, I think there's another reason. You're like this because you haven't seen Aurora again. I'm right, right?" All the while, he's wearing his sad puppy face and she's walking closer to him. Omar: "What can I tell you." He walks closer to her and reaches his arms out. Caro: "Enough, be calm, Omar." She rubs his arms, touches his face, hugs him. He buries his face in her hair. She kisses him on the cheek. Caro: "No pasa nada, ok?" (nothing happened, nothing's happening) Omar: "Si." They kiss. It's hot. Ladies and gentlemen, applause please for these two fine actors. They really sold it.

They cut away to JR's office too abruptly for my taste. Aurora stands in JR's office in slightly-less-than-her-usual glory. Today, she wears a matte knit dress in a slightly muted primary green. The bodice comes to a reasonably deep V, and the dress has a handkerchief hem. She's wearing a knee-length medium-eggplant-ish leather jacket (this does not clash or look as flashy as one would think). She's also wearing knee-high leather FM boots, in black, I think. She stands in the middle of JR's office and lets Luigi gush about how totally awesome she looks. She gives Luigi tacit permission to touch her (not like that, he just wants to see if she's real). While Luigi is behind her, she has an attack of the twitchies. Tomás is confused about Luigi's crush. JR Comes in and Aurora tries to start the meeting, but JR says that after they tried to deceive him that morning, he's taken the precaution to invite an executive from Conceptos to witness whatever agreement they make…and in walks Fernando. Lety freaks and thinks: I didn't want him to see me like this, him less than anyone. Closeup on Aurora as we cut to commercial.

When we return from commercial: Fernando is looking at Aurora thinking "eh, she's not so bad." He tries to introduce himself to Aurora, but she keeps her back to him and puts sunglasses on. Luigi tells Fernando he has to admit she's guapissima (incredibly beautiful), but then, he knows Fernando has eyes for only one woman. Fernando confirms that he only has eyes for Lety and Aurora grins. Aurora takes the sunglasses off since Fernando's behind her and demands to deal directly with JR, with no intermediaries, but JR says she has to deal with the PR company and Conceptos. Aurora says that for her to agree to do his campaign, he has to pay her $1M dollars, otherwise there's no deal. Luigi freaks and tries to say that she meant $1M pesos. Aurora: "No, $1M dollars. Take it or leave it. Excuse me." She puts on her sunglasses and snits out of the room. Fernando follows her.

Back at the bachelor pad: Caro is alone on the couch, remembering that hot kiss and biting her thumbnail. She wonders how she got into this situation and says it's not bad. Omar comes in with two styrofoam cups and says he can only offer her a refresco (soft drink) because they just moved and they don't have anything else. She thanks him and Omar wants to know what's up with Caro not looking at him. She says she thinks that what happened wasn't good. Omar says "Don't tell me such a little innocent kiss got to you?" Caro says of course not, she's trying to tell him it was a mistake, forget it, nothing happened. All this time, Caro is standing with her back to Omar, grinning like a schoolgirl in love even while she's saying it's no big deal. Omar says they're good friends and besides, she knows he's in love with Aurora and can't fijar (pay attention to, notice) anyone else right now. He says thanks for being there with him to console him. Caro looks a little sad (but only a little) as she says "Of course, consoling you." She strokes his face as she says he looks calmer now and that he's already forgotten they fired him right? He says he'll never forget since working there is the only way he'll get to see Aurora, if they can hire her. Caro says he sure is persistent. Omar says that the first chance he gets, he'll have to convince Aldo to re-hire him. He says he doesn't have a job or a salary, but what can he do? He can't live without Conceptos, much less without Aurora. Caro gives him a brave, sad little smile. Pobre de Caro.

Back at JR's office, Fernando is trying to get Aurora to turn around, but Aurora tells him to let her go. He asks her not to play around with him because his family's company depends on him. Lety has a twitch attack. She calls him Señor Mendizabal (shout out to Acorralada?) and says she doesn't care about his family's problems and if he wants her image in this campaign, he'll have to pay her what she's worth (twitches again). He starts non-specifically pleading with her and she says if he keeps it up he won't get anything out of her, puts on her shades, and takes her walking boots right on outta there. Fernando tells JR's assistant, who heard the whole thing, that Aurora's insupportable. Fernando says if the project falls through, he'll die.

In JR's office, Tomás and Luigi are trying to make excuses for Aurora's behavior. Luigi can't believe she asked for $1M. Tomás says she usually asks for $999K and he thinks the $1M business is so they won't insist on hiring her. JR says she has to be the model for his campaign, she's a reincarnation of a diva from the 50's. Luigi agrees, he's totally enamored of her. Tomás tries to tell them there are other, better, models who could do the campaign, since Aurora's not actually a model, she's a…diva, says Luigi. JR insists, no one else will do, even though $1M is too much. He says Conceptos needs to talk her down and hire her, otherwise they'll have to refund his advance and pay the indemnización or he'll demandar (sue) them. Tomás and Luigi say they'll convince her.

Fernando is out in the lobby talking to himself. He says if they don't do the project, it's over, he'll have to leave Conceptos to Aldo, that fritanguero (can't find this one either, but I'm sure it's nothing good), including Lety. Tomás and Luigi come out of JR's office. Luigi asks if Tomás can really convince her. Tomás says he thinks so, but it would be easier of Fernando were left out of the negotiations. Luigi agrees that he needs to be kilometers away. Fernando reminds them he's sitting right there. Tomás says he just talked to Aurora and she says she'll talk to Tomás as long as Fernando's doesn't intervene in the negotiations. Fernando wants to know what she has against him. Luigi says it's a diva thing. Fernando still wants to know what he did and Luigi says it's not what he did, it's what he might do, given the opportunity. Fernando says he can't sit around waiting for his project to fall through. Tomás says if he insists on talking to her, he can consider the project lost. Fernando agrees to back off, but he says that if Luigi and Tomás can't resolve the problem in 24 hours, Fernando himself will go find Aurora and arrastrarla (drag her) to the commercial even if she doesn't want to. Luigi says just don't pull out too much hair.

Lety and Caro are having lunch at Al Dente. Lety says it was easy to change because she had her Lety clothes in the trunk of her car. Caro wants to know what happened when Fernando saw Aurora.

Fernando is in Aldo's office. He says he's finally seen Aurora and she'll pass. She's not to his taste, but she'd be ok. He says he can kind of understand how she turned Omar into a lovesick guiñapo (a wreck). Aldo says it's too bad Fernando's best friend fell in love with her, since he likes her so much and he's single. Fernando says Aldo wasn't listening, he only said she was passable. Aldo reminds Fernando he's alone and Fernando says Aldo knows perfectly well there's only one woman who interests him. He mocks Aldo and then blows on his boat (literally). Aldo tells him very seriously that it bothers him that Fernando plays with his boat. Indeed.

Lety tells Caro she loves Aldo and isn't interested in anyone else. Caro says yeah, ok, but didn't Lety feel anything when she realized what happened with Fernando when he saw Aurora? She wants to know what happened when they came face to face for the first time. Lety explains that they didn't actually look each other in the eye because she was nervous and put on her shades, etc. She says nothing happened, but she thinks deep down, something happened, maybe he thinks Aurora is an interesting woman, but that's it. Caro adds guapissima, beautiful, sophisticated, etc. Lety says enough! She confesses that she liked Fernando's reaction a little bit, but she didn't enjoy it because she was too scared. Caro asks if she was afraid Fernando would recognize her. Lety says that can never happen, she's playing with fire and she can't keep doing this. That's why she came up with a reason they should forget Aurora forever. (They're in a closeup of Lety's face and I would like to note that, while the 'stache is a little light, the eyebrows are indeed Lety-esque.)

Fernando is still in Aldo's office. These two spend a lot of time together considering they can't stand each other. I'm just saying. Fernando says that Aurora asked for $1M dollars, emphasizing the "dollars" part. Aldo thinks it's funny and says Aurora's nuts. Fernando agrees and thinks that she must have found out that RetroMod is insisting on working with her and she's taking advantage of the situation…as other people have taken advantage of situations, right? Aldo ignores the dig and says they aren't thinking of giving her that amount of money, are they?

Lety tells Caro she asked for the $1M because it would be absurd for them to pay it. Caro asks if Lety thinks that will make them forget about Aurora. Lety twitches as she considers that her little ploy might not actually work out the way she intended (or at least that's how I interpret the twitches).

Fernando tells Aldo that he's not going to quitar his dedo del renglon (take his finger off the line; i.e., he won't back off) until she agrees to accept a reasonable amount of money and signs on to do the RetroMod campaign. Aldo wishes him luck and Fernando says he'll need it since JR insists on suing Conceptos.

Lety hopes that after this, JR will let them hire another model or at least not make them pay the penalty. Lety notices Caro's face and asks what she's thinking about. Caro says that she and Omar kissed. Lety is shocked and asks "on the mouth?!" I'm thinking of all the ways to answer that question that would shock poor, innocent Lety even more. She calms down and says she doesn't care how it went or where, but the thing is, Caro can't kiss that cinico (callous), mujeriego (womanizer), manipulador (manipulator), mentiroso (liar) Omar. Caro says she knows Lety doesn't like Omar at all and that she's right not to, but…Caro says, it's over, the kiss is forgotten. Lety asks if the kiss meant nothing. Caro says no, nothing, but Lety doesn't believe her. Caro says, she recognizes it wasn't just any kiss, Omar was very sensible (sensitive), emotivo (emotional), and besides he has lots of experience and no en balde (not in vain; not for nothing) is he a great seducer. Lety asks if she realizes that Omar claims to be in love with Aurora, but there he is kissing Caro. Caro says she's jealous. Lety giggles and says no.

Fernando says that if they have to pay that indemnización it will be Omar's fault. Aldo says he hopes that doesn't happen and asks if Lety came back with him after the meeting with JR. Fernando says she never showed up and JR never asked for a meeting with her. Aldo wonders what's up with that since she said she was going to take care of everything and didn't want them to go with her. They wonder where she could be. Fernando says they've had a great talk, there's so much pimponeo (no definition here either, I think it's fishing slang) and interaction in their conversations, Aldo's a great conversationalist. Aldo keeps typing and says he likes it too. Fernando makes to blow on the boat again and Aldo arms himself with a pencil. Fernando backs off, but then blows on the boat quickly and dashes out the door. The pencil hits the door after Fernando leaves. Aldo says it was a nice talk and goes back to his computer.

Luigi moons over a picture of Aurora on his computer while Tomás checks out Luigi's painting. Luigi wants to know when they're going to see her again so they can arrange everything with the contract. Tomás says he's sent her a message…by mail…which is the only way he has to communicate with her (what?). He says she said she'll meet with them tomorrow. Tomás starts playing with the knick knacks on Luigi's desk and Luigi tells him to get out, he's giving Luigi alergia roñosa (an allergic rash) just looking at him. Tomás tries to clear up his confusion about which team Luigi's batting for since he likes Aurora. Luigi says he hasn't switched teams, it doesn't work like that, and explains that he loves beauty and aesthetics and Aurora is beautiful, then he orders Tomás to get out. Luigi takes off a shoe to threaten Tomás with, but Tomás is out the door before the shoe hits it.

Alicia is on the phone to someone asking them why they won't throw her a despedida de soltera (aka "la despedida", "goodbye to being single"; bachelorette party). She gives Tomás about three extra last names and says her friend has never heard of him because he lives outside the country and travels a lot. She says it's quite a coincidence that her friend is traveling as well and she thinks it's really that her friend is jealous that she's getting married (she emphasizes that last bit since she knows the Cuartel are listening in). The Cuartel huddle and Sara says she'll organize the party, the others should go inform people. Sara gets on the phone to someone and asks for a favor. Lola and Paula Maria go into Marcia's office to tell her about the party. Marcia is having a little trouble with the fact that the Cuartel actually want to throw Alicia a party. PM and Lola make a decent showing of saying "Lichita" (cutesy shortening of "Alicia", diminutive of "Licha") is their coworker, it wouldn't be good to let the event pass without making some kind of fuss, etc. Lola tells Marcia they're keeping it a secret and would she help them. Sara busts into Marcia's office to tell them they've got a location. Marcia looks surprised and frightened.

Tomás is happily announcing to Aldo and Fernando in Lety's office that he's marrying Alicia. Aldo and Fernando ask if he doesn't realize that they're concerned about Lety. Aldo asks if Tomás knows where Lety is. Fernando says hopefully she's talking to Aurora to convince her…Tomás interrupts and says he already told them he's going to take care of the situation, but on one condition. He wants them to throw him a despedida de soltero. Aldo and Fernando look at each other. Aldo says sure, he'll fix (cook) something…Tomás says no, it's a bachelor party, among men, all they need is a few little bottles and that's it. Fernando says little bottles and that's it? Tomás says maybe some little sandwiches. Aldo and Fernando exchange another look and Fernando says Tomás shouldn't worry about it, they'll organize everything. Tomás says he'll be waiting for them and it's tonight at his house. Is this a Mexico thing or a Telenovelaland thing? Aren't bachelor/bachelorette parties usually less than a week before the wedding, if not the night before? No way are they getting this alleged 3700-person shindig up and running inside of a week. I predict wackiness. Plus, a bachelor party that Omar's not organizing? Bo-ring!

Lety comes into her office as Tomás is leaving. She asks what the guys are doing in her office. Aldo says at least she finally got there. Fernando asks why she told them she was going to JR's office when JR didn't ask for a meeting. Lety says he didn't ask for a meeting, but she went anyway. Fernando says that she never got there, which is the problem, because he went there alone and had to deal with that fiera Aurora all alone. Lety asks if Tomás wasn't there as her representative. Aldo asks why she insisted on them not going. She says she…Fernando interrupts and asks where she really was. Aldo says, besides, did she know that Aurora asked for $1M dollars. Lety feigns shock and Fernando says, yes, 1, complete with all it's little numbers. Lety says that's barbaric. Fernando says they've got to resolve the problem because JR is going to sue them. Lety takes off her glasses and puts her head in her hands. Fernando says, ah, don't be that way it's not that bad. She looks up without putting her glasses back on and Fernando and Aldo both start leaning in to get a better look. They're practically lying on her desk as she puts her glasses back on and thinks "OMG, I think they caught me on account of the cejas!" (eyebrows) Busted! Maybe. These two seem to have a problem putting 1 and 1 together. Plus those weren't the eyebrows she had at the restaurant with Caro. Just saying.

Tomorrow: It's party time!

Acorralada #78 - 5/3/07 – Thursday – Diana Finds Yet Another Admirer!

Today we start with a recap of Rene confessing to his beloved Big Doormat that he has consumed drugs.

In case we forgot, or missed, Wednesday's episode. Diana and Diego are fighting about her going back to work at Perfumes 'R Us. He is ordering her to stay home! Our intrepid heroine won't hear of it. Diego suggests that Gaby run the "empire." Diana points out that Gaby is ill-prepared to be a president. "And you are?" asks Diego. The fight continues and Diego actually threatens to kill Diana if he catches her with Max again. Diana is impactada. Dramatic music gets louder as the scene ends.

Rene is groveling to Yolanda and swearing he is no longer using drugs. He only did them at parties on the weekend, but he didn't inhale. OK, so maybe he didn't deny inhaling. . .Yolanda points out that he lied to her in the past when she asked him point blank if he had used drugs. Rene is very contrite. Finally Yolanda believes him and begs him to help Peyote with her addiction. Rene says he will do anything for Yolanda. With dimples like his, I'd want to believe him as well!

Diana is freaking out in her bedroom. She's saying what Diego feels for her isn't love. It's an obsession! There's a knock on the door. Diana is breathless and afraid to open the door. She opens it a crack and luckily for Diana, it's Caramel. Carmel tells Diana that she doesn't feel comfortable working at the bar, now that Paco has married Octopus. By chance, would there be something she could do at the P'RU? "I could clean toilet stalls, peel you grapes, anything!" Diana says "Of course you can have a job. I need a faithful assistant." Caramel responds that she wouldn't expect such a fancy job as that, she just needs something. Diana tells her, "Pshaw! I would love to have you working with me!" Caramel then tells Diana, "You're the sister I've never had!" Hugs all around. Diana has completely forgotten Diego threatening to kill her moments ago; she's all smiles now!

Gaby is trying to feed Fediota, but she won't eat. Kike is in the room as well. Suddenly Little Doormat smells alcohol on Fediota's breath and comes unglued. Gaby confronts Fediota and wants to know how she got it. Gaby runs for the nurse and Fediota makes Kike give her some gum. Kike says he feels responsible – ya think? Anyway, Fediota snickers that she feels like she did during her college years.

Emili-Oh wants to know why Luscious looks so forlorn. Larry says it's because Pillow is apparently carrying his child. Emili-Oh wants to know if Gaby has found out. "Not only did she find out, Pillow spilled the beans and told her everything!" Pobre de Larry. Emili-Oh tries to comfort him. Yolanda walks into the room and announces dinner is ready. Just as they're getting ready to have dinner, the prodigal son returns. "Max!!!!!" More hugs all around!!! Max happily tells Emili-Oh that he has a job and pretty soon he and Larry can afford to rent an apartment and move out. "No bother. You're welcome to stay here as long as you want. I like the company." At this point in walks Debora, all smiles, now that Max has returned. She is so happy to see him. Now they can go back to sharing a bedroom. ***Keep in mind Emili-Oh, Larry, and Yolanda are standing right there.*** Max breaks the news; he has no intention of sharing a bed with Debora. "Are you an imbecile?" screeches our Little Blonde Weasel. "Where are you planning on sleeping?" "On the sofa!" This is not the answer LBW was looking for. She storms out.

Laughs all around at LBW's expense.

How cool is this; there's a scene over Miami and you can see the shadow of the helicopter filming it. Yes, it takes so little to amuse me these days.

Diana walks into her office with her new plucky assistant. Diana is wearing a wide red obi with her gray skirt and black blouse. This is obviously one of Fediota's trademark belts. Emili-Oh and Beatriz are already seated awaiting Diana's arrival. Diana introduces Caramel to everyone. Emili-Oh kisses butt, as usual. Daggers fly from Beatriz' eyes. Looks like Beatriz is none too happy to have Caramel joining the team. Diana sends Beatriz out to show Caramel the ropes. I think the only rope Beatriz would like to show Caramel is the one she plans to hang her with. Emili-Oh announces that the international sales guy has returned from vacation. Diana is eager to meet him.

Doc Evil walks into his apartment, only to be ambushed by Sylvie, who is now doing her Amanda Miguel impression. She has outdone herself with her new wig. Lots and lots of black curly hair. She's got on a black SHORT dress with black seamed stockings. She launches herself at Iggy and they both tumble to the sofa. Sylvie is so excited to see him – she even got a new wig for the occasion. Iggy is trying to be polite. Camila finally saves him from being smothered by Sylvie. Some comic bantering goes on. Sylvie wants to be his personal nurse. She's not a slug like Diana. Iggy has to pry Sylvie off him. Finally he notices her black eye and asks her about it. Sylvie tells him it's the latest look. Pleasantries are exchanged and the evil doc heads off to his room where he plans to take a bath. Sylvie blows kisses as he leaves. "Home Sweet Home" exclaims Iggy! Caramel tells Sylvie not to say a word about Max staying there, or Sylvie will end up with another black eye.

Emili-Oh is still sucking up to Diana, when there's a knock on the door. It's Alvaro Ferrer, the international sales person. Introductions are made and Emili-Oh excuses himself. Diana wants to know if Alvaro is aware of the situation with the P'RU. He sure is, however thanks to her brilliant mind, she has single handedly turned everything around! Head tilt. Flirtatious smile.

Luscious is going for a run on the beach. Pillow "just happens" to see him and wants to know why he didn't tell her he was going to be there. They then get into the usual fight. Larry tells her to leave him in peace. She wants to know when he's going to divorce Gaby and marry her. He wants to know why she told Gaby about the pregnancy. She says Larry belongs to her now. He responds that he'll marry her for the sake of the child, but Gaby will always be in his head. Larry runs off and Pillow tells herself that at least Larry has agreed to marry her. "Too bad, so sad, Little Doormat!" Down the beach, Larry's cell phone rings. It's Gaby. She's at the hospital and they need to talk. She has found an attorney who will help her file for divorce.

Alvaro and Diana are having a boring business discussion when Beatriz walks in with a huge flower arrangement. They're apparently from Alvaro to "welcome" Diana to P'RU. Guess we'll have to add him to the list of guys in love with Diana. More flirtation between Diana and Alvaro, when Max bursts into the room. We are then treated to a pissing match and lots of mad-dogging. Diana says she and Alvaro are discussing business. Max says he's come to discuss THEIR child. Alvaro is amused. Alvaro and Max tell each other to leave. Diana finally asks Alvaro to give her and Max a minute. Max tells Diana Alvaro is trying to seduce her. Diana says her private life is not Max's concern. Or something to that effect. Head tilt. Vacant stare. Lemon-sucking face.

Peyote is trying to score some drugs when the doorbell rings. It's Yolanda and Rene. They are worried about her. Rene tries to talk Peyote into checking herself into rehab, but she wants no part of that. She basically makes some comment to Rene alluding to the fact he's done drugs alongside her (some expression along the line of 'the pot calling the kettle black.) Yolanda says Rene already told her about his dalliances, but that he's sworn to stop.

Max and Diana are still fighting over Diana's relationship with Alvaro. Max doesn't want his son exposed to someone like that. He's going to be keeping a close eye on our heroine.

More pleading by Yolanda and Rene. They want Peyote to get help. Unfortunately for them, she doesn't want any. More PSA's. Peyote tells them she wants to be alone. Rene sure is a hottie when he's not being a goof.

Diana is asking Max to quit watching over her and leave her in peace. Max says, lamentably, that ain't going to happen. The love theme starts playing on the piano, or is it chopsticks? Hard to tell. Head tilt, glassy stare, lemon-sucking look. Same ol', same ol'. The love theme becomes more insistent. The fight starts up again and finally Diana tells Max to leave so she can continue saving P'RU and the world. Commercial!

A frantic Peyote throws out Yolanda and Rene. They finally leave and Peyote, totally agitated, picks up the phone to make a call.

The phone rings and Debora picks it up. Naturally, it's for her. Andres wants $20,000 or he's going to tell everyone she's a crook who tried to kill him. "Where am I going to get that kind of money? The Irascibles are broke. Are you wanting me to sell tamales?" asks Debora. "Not my problem," retorts Andres. "You're a thief, steal from someone on the street. Rob a bank. I don't care. My aunt and I need the money to move." Debora goes into Chihuahua on Crack mode. Finally she hangs up on Andres and discusses the possibility of killing him and his auntie.

Little Doormat is at Fediota's hospital bed side. There's a knock on the door. It's Luscious with half of his shirt tucked in, the other half is hanging out. There seems to be a lot of this style of dress on the show. It must be the rage in Miami. I have obviously been born in a barn not to recognize this trend.

Emili-Oh, Beatriz, and Alvaro are hanging out at Beatriz' desk. Apparently our glassy-eyed heroine has made quite the impression on him. He has to have her. "Don't waste your time," warns Emili-Oh. Alvaro wants the untold story. Beatriz is all too happy to bring him up to speed. Diana is married to an invalid. Max and Diana love each other, but they've been separated. "Ah," says Alvaro. "I see no impediment! There's nothing I like better than a challenge!" Apparently Alvaro is taken with Diana's vacant stare.

Larry and Gaby are discussing their divorce. Gaby is sad. Lunkhead is sad. Lunkhead tries to explain why he didn't make it to the church that day. Gaby doesn't want to hear his excuses. She tells him he needs to marry Pillow for the sake of the baby. A child is sacred. Lame Larry has the unmitigated gall to tell Little Doormat the baby could have been theirs! Doormat wants to know how that could possibly be when he's never wanted to touch her! Score one for the Doormat. Larry tries to back-pedal and explain that may have been the case initially, but now he loves her! "I may be marrying Pillow, but I'll always love YOU!" Gaby walks away in tears. Their love theme plays. Lame Lunkhead looks bewildered as heartbreaking piano music starts playing and is joined by a guitar. Finally a singer starts in with the "da da da . . ."

Pillow and Kike are lying on the beach discussing their triumphs over Gaby and Larry. Pillow makes a disparaging remark about Gaby and Kike gets mad. Pillow makes some snide remark about Kike falling in love with Gaby. Pillow struts off in a huff, and Kike wonders if Pillow could possibly be correct.

Emili-Oh is getting ready to get on the elevator as Caramel is getting off. Neither of them are paying attention and they run into each. Could it be? They both apologize profusely and awkwardly. This quaint little scene ends with Emili-Oh offering to help Caramel with anything she needs, after Caramel admits the factory is so big she keeps getting lost! Sparks fly between these two!! Emili-Oh wistfully watches her walk away in her red CFM's, black micro-mini skirt, and the obligatory Blouse of Virtue. Hmmmm. I had her hooking up with Jorge at Paco's, since Emili-Oh has been so smitten with Peyote. Perhaps Peyote and Caramel may be vying for the same guy again in the future...

Bruno is bringing Octopus something for her pain. Octopus wants to go to the hospital to visit Fidiota and flaunt her marriage to Paco. She wants to watch Fidiota suffer. "You're terrible!" says Bruno admiringly. Octopus adds, "I can't kill Fidiota, but I would sure like to torment her!"

We see a nun sitting at the table reading. There's a knock on the door. It's Grillo saying he has some mangos for her. While they're discussing fruit, there's another knock at the door. It's another nun saying their patient just woke up. The three of them rush into their patient's room. We see a lump in the bed as the three stand around and introduce themselves to "Nuestra Hija." We see a perfectly manicured hand. We are left at the edge of our seats. . .who could it POSSIBLY be?!!

Octopus enters Fidiota's room while Fidiota is asleep. On cue, Fidiota wakes up. "What are you doing here?" asks Fidiota. Octopus has come to gloat about how wonderful it is to be married to Paco. She then makes a comment about all the drugs Fidiota took after she found out Paco was married. Lots of heavy breathing on Fidiota's part. Fidiota tries to call security but Octopus stops her. "You have to listen to me!" threatens Octopus. The orchestra of doom plays. The two Venomous Vixens glare at one another.

Diana is back at the factory staring at a sheet of paper. She's got the trade-marked head-tilt again. There's a knock at the door. Alvaro has some etchings – I mean designs - for her to see. Diana says she'll look at them during lunch. Alvaro suggests they have lunch together. Dramatic music thrashes in the background. Alvaro smirks. Vacant stare. Commercial.

Diana turns down Alvaro, but he's persistent. She has to eat some time. Well, if she won't go to lunch with him, he'll just sit there in front of her. "I don't want you to sacrifice because of me," says Diana coquettishly. "How could I be sacrificing while I'm sitting next to a woman as enchanting as you?" is Alvaro's smarmy reply. Diana smirks.

Back Octopus v. Fidiota. These two deserve one another. More catty remarks and insults. Boring.

Alvaro has got his charm switched into overdrive. Now he wants to take Diana out to dinner and dancing. For work, of course. Life is short. Diana turns him down. What little free time she has is reserved for her son and her family. This goes on for awhile until Diana tells him she wants to be alone. As Alvaro is leaving, he makes some remark that every woman has a right to be happy, and he has the feeling she isn't. . . Glassy look.

More Octopus v. Fidiota. Little Doormat walks in and orders Octopus out. Octopus turns her venom on Gaby. "You may think you're high society, but you're still a servant!" Gaby reminds Octopus she's married to Larry and is an Irascible, "not that the name is anything to be proud of any more!" More snide remarks and Octopus makes some remark that Paco prefers Octopus over Fidiota and will never return to Fidiota again. Finally Octopus leaves.

We're back at the convent. Mother Elegida introduces herself and tells "the patient" she's been asleep for days. Grillo introduces himself and says he climbs trees and brings fruit, but since she's been asleep, he hasn't brought her any. Sister Sol introduces herself as well. Mother E wants to know the patient's name and what she was doing alone in the jungle. Another glimpse of the manicured hand and some wisps of blonde hair. The suspense is killing me!!!!

Max bursts into the presidential suite. He and Diana fight some more about Maxito. Max Senior has rights. Maxito deserves to know his father. Diana replies Maxito doesn't need to know a father that believed the worst about her! The usual.
