Doña Bárbara - Thursday, Sept. 25, Santos and Mauricio take advantage of civilization in different ways; Cecilia and Antonio are back together

For the time being, Federica says that she will say nothing about her 'night of passion' with Antonio. Later, she tells Josefa that she wants to make Antonio like her. Since that's probably not going to work, fake pregnancy is probably her next move.

DB decides to follow Santos to San Fernando with her most trusted men, which doesn't include BP. She gets some money out of the wall.

Luisana accuses Santos of continuing to see DB and of rushing off to San Fernando because of DB's threats. Santos doesn't deny it. He changes the subject by giving Luisana his mother's engagement ring.

Marisela is upset that Santos and Luisana are getting married. Mauricio offers her an hankerchief and a shoulder to cry on. He says no one knows what will happen in the future.

Luisana has a relapse on the boat. Santos offers the boatman money to get to San Fernando faster.

Antonio asks the terneras why Leon Mondragon is saying bad things about one of them. They don't tell him about Gervasia, though.

DB rides her horse so hard to get to San Fernando that it founders and she has to put it down. She continues on foot and later buys (at gunpoint) two horses from people she meets on the road.

Marisela discovers Mauricio's cross dressing persona: Madame Fabulé.

Surprised is inadequate to describe her reaction.

Antonio and Cecilia make up while Melesio and the terneras look on.

DB finds the hospital were Luisana is but Santos meets her accompanied by the police. He says that here in San Fernando, laws and justice exist. This isn't her territory where she can do whatever she wants. "This is civilization," he says, "This is my world."

El Cuerpo del Deseo, Friday, Sept. 26 - PJ/S gets a new keeper; tragedy strikes Isabel and Walter & Rebeca go on a treasure hunt

Isabel and Valeria have a weird conversation while Isabel is brushing Valeria's hair. Isabel says that everyone abandons her eventually except Pedro. He was different because he truly loved Isabel and would have died for her. She says there's nothing more valuable and beautiful than true love. [So why did she betray Pedro, then?]

Walter and Rebeca explore the cellar and find a hidden door. Simón locks them in thinking they are having a romantic tryst but Antonio guesses they are looking for something. He makes Simón let them out.

Isabel's mother, Nina, is killed in a plane crash. Isabel is devasted. PJ/S hears about it on the TV. He tells Lilia that he thought he was crazy but now he knows what happened to him is real and that he isn't crazy. He wants to go tell Isabel but looking in the mirror, he asks how he can tell her and asks what kind of hell he is living in?

PJ/S begs Lilia to help him get out of town. She not only refuses to let him go, she professes her love for him and attacks him bodily. Then she runs to Father Jacobo and demands that PJ/S leave her house.

PJ/S is stashed at the parish house in a room that is filled with graphic religious imagery that he doesn't like. PJ/S takes it all down but Padre Jacobo is angry and makes him put all the pictures up again.

Antonio and Simón explore the basement.

Isabel goes to Brussels to get her mother's body.

Padre Jacobo is confronted with evidence of PJ's education, an education that Salvador never could have gotten, but he refuses to accept PJ/S's explanation that he isn't Salvador. The priest concludes that something very bad happened during the time when Salvador was dead.

PJ/S prays to the crucifix in his room. He asks if God knows what is going on with him to please tell him because he can't take any more.

Meanwhile the less than intrepid duo of Walter and Rebeca have been searching for a key to the door they found in the basement. They are finally caught trying to take the picture of PJ's first wife off the wall in the study. Valeria asserts her authority as housekeeper and demands the keys of the study.

Friday 9/26 QE Three is the Charm

Hi everybody, the recap is now completed. Enjoy!

Madre Trinidad is not happy to see Alonslow. She doesn’t believe him that Sara is a liar. She asks for proof of what he is saying, and since he doesn’t have any she says she won’t help him investigate.

Later Alonslow and his father are outside the building. ALonslow tells his father that he understands Madre Trinidad, talking bad about Sara is like talking bad about a daughter, but he will obtain proof of what he says and then “se le va a voltear la tortilla” (La tortilla will be turned)

Lorena is preparing a menu for the classes she is going to give. Pati helps her

Sara talks to the unnamed student (or if she has a name I don’t know it) that started the protest against Lorena. Sara wants her to keep on protesting, she tells her that she shouldn’t give up. But the US has her number and tells her that now she realizes that Sara is a “Tira la piedra esconde la mano” (somebody that attacks and hides), but she won’t be manipulated anymore.

Zulema visits Diana. She came to help her with the baby. Diana is very happy, but when Zulema tells her that she has been a little sick, Diana decides that they won’t work today. Instead they’ll enjoy a mother daughter time and watch TV together.

Julian is in another photo session with one of those scary looking models. Rosi is mad, but tries to hide it. Julian is proud of her because she controls herself. The manager comes and gives him his advance of the photo session. He is happy is so much money, and gives it to Rosi for the wedding. Rosi takes it but is still not happy.

Vasco visits Jaime. Jaime gives him the good news that he is getting married to Maruja. Vasco is happy for him and comments that this is the second surprise that he received, but doesn’t give details. Vasco congratulates him.

At Maruja’s, somebody is knocking at the door, it is her husband!. Cara de impactada de Maruja. She walks in and acts like he just left yesterday. She is incensed that he seems so nonchalant about the whole deal and tells him that she hates him not because of her, but because of Rosi. He is unimpressed with her words, but seems impressed by how nice the house looks and tells her that he left because he knew she would be ok without him Maruja cuts to the chase and tells him that she wants him to sign the divorce papers. He tells her that he won’t sign any papers.

Back at the convent the nuns are talking about Alonslow’s visit. Madre Trinidad can’t believe the nerve of Alonslow, coming up with all those lies about Sara, but the other nun (don’t know her name) has her doubts, why Sara didn’t mention that Madre Asuncion told her who her family was? If Sara was talking to Madre Asuncion about the accounting, when did she have the time to tell her about her origin before dying?

Back at Maruja’s. She is desperate. She tells her husband he has to sign or else. Rosi’s dad tells her that he won’t sign because he needs money. He asks for 20,000.

Chalo gloats to Sara. He tells her that Vasco knows about his relationship with Barbara and that Barbara defended him. Sara tells him that Vasco will never accept him. Chalo says that Vasco is a good guy and he likes him.

Vasco goes to the lesser house and talks to Omar. He tells him that Jaime has changed. He is going to marry Maruja and needs Omar’s forgiveness. Omar says that he is tired of all the hate. He’ll talk to Jaime, but can’t guarantee what Zulema will do.

Paula is talking to Greta. They can’t believe that Maruja’s husband showed up and is asking for money. Dario comes in and is rude to Greta. Greta asks if he is upset. He snaps and tells her that yes he is very upset. He cames home from work and they (Greta and Maruja) are always there. He calls them chismosas (meddlesome) and tells them that he can’t stand it anymore. Greta is offended and tells him that she knows when she is not welcome. She gets up and tells them that she is not coming back ever. Paula is not happy.

Icturo tries to get busy with Jacky, but she is busy watching a movie. He calls her lazy and she tells him to be careful because she could get bored and tell Vasco about his caiman account.

Damian and Paula are arguing. Betina comes in and Paula wants to know where she was. Betina tells her that she was at a friend’s house doing homework. Damian defends her and Paula is very upset because she feels he is undermining her authority. She sends Betina to her room.

Jaime is talking to a very upset Maruja. He says he is willing to pay, but Maruja doesn’t want to do it. Rosi comes in and sees her crying. She looks guilty.

Lorena asks Erni if he likes the menu she prepared for her class. He tells her that she is getting so good that soon she’ll be the teacher. Lorena tells him that since they are complimenting each other she should say something good about him. She thinks a little and then says that she loves his onion soup. They name different recipes and at the end Ernesto says --your mouth. Lorena says that her mouth is not a recipe. He says –no, but it’s mine and I love it. He kisses her. She tries to stop him telling him that the kids are coming soon, but he has a surprise; the kids are spending the night at their aunt’s house. She tells him that he should have tell her. They embrace and kiss and we are treated with a very short (for my taste) love scene. (See? For me this seals it Lorena and Ernesto are the couple)

2nd part
The nuns called Alonslow back. They tell him that they have realized that Sara story doesn’t make sense and have decided to help him investigate. They go into the office of the Mother Superior. Madre Trinidad tells them they have until noon to investigate.

Lorena’s students are waiting for her. All of them are adults “of the third age” (I’m not sure about this term, I guess it means people older than 65) they are talking amongst themselves hoping that their new teacher gives them good recipes. Lorena shows up and starts the class.

Back at the convent they are still rehashing… I mean talking about Sara and what she did. Since Madre Asuncion’s heart attack was so fast and unexpected Sara had no way of finding out that Hortensia was her grandma. Even If she had looked in the files she wouldn’t have find Hortencias name since her name nor her signature are in the file, then, how did she find out? They decide that the current files must be fake and Sara must have changed them to help Hortensia. Alonslow asks the nuns if they have seen Chalo. Madre Trinidad remembers that she saw Chalo about the same time of the problem with Dona Hortensia. Alonslow tells them that Chalo is Sara’s lover and that he is almost sure that it was he who changed the files. Caras de impactados all around.

Chalo is talking to Vasco. He tells Vasco that he feels uncomfortable talking to him about his mother, but that he really loves her and that’s why he wants Vasco to accept him, to make Barbara happy. Vasco is not sure, but because he is open minded and because he also wants to see his mother happy, he’ll accept Chalo, but he wants Chalo to know that if he makes his mother suffer, he’ll have to deal with him. Chalo says that he’ll show him that he really loves her. Barbara walks in and is very happy to see Vasco and Chalo talking. Chalo hugs her and tells her that everything has been resolved.
Back with Lorena, everybody is very happy. The class has ended and the students taste the food. They are impressed in how easy it was to cook Lorena’s recipe. She tells them that for her next class, they’ll cook “mole de olla” Everybody is excited about it. Ernesto is outside waiting for her. He asks her about the class and she tells him that she loved it. She wants Ernesto to teach a class but he tells her that this class is all hers and all he wants is to taste what she cooks and a kiss. Lorena smiles suggestively and asks why only one kiss they are not on a diet. Ernesto shows us his beautiful smile.
Zulema is looking for somebody to help her with her business. Remember the servant that Hortensia fired way at the beginning because she thought that she had stolen some money when in reality it was Sara who stole it? Well Novelaland is very small because she is the one looking for the job. Zulema likes her, but when she asks for references the lady tells her what happened to her and Zulena realizes that she worked with Hortensia.
Rosi and Julian are waiting for Rosi’s father. Rosi asked to talk to him, but she wants to do it alone. Julian doesn’t want to leave. When her father shows up, Julian realizes that Rosi and her father had already seen each other. He tells them he’ll wait in the other room. Rosi tells her father he shouldn’t have asked Maruja for money. He tells her that he needed an excuse not to sign the divorce and besides he needs money, so now he won’t sign until he gets his money. Rosi wants to kick herself.

Jaime is trying to convince Maruja to get a loan to pay her ex. Maruja doesn’t want to do it. They are arguing when Omar shows up. He says he wants to talk to Jaime.
Rosi yells at her dad that she hates him. Her dad asks her if she doesn’t care anymore if her mother marries. Rosi tells him to leave. Julian comes out and tells him to leave or else. Rosi’s dad leaves, but he tells them that he won’t sign until he gets his money. He leaves and Julian wants to know why Rosi told her father not to sign. Rosi cries and hugs him and tells him that she is a fool. She realizes that she has been very selfish. They decide to pay with the money they have been saving for the wedding.

Omar congratulates Jaime on his upcoming wedding. They both rehash a little about their problems. Omar finally tells him that he forgives him because he is tired of all the hate. They hug.

Hortensia is trying to write. The nurse tells her that she should take it slowly, but Hortensia really wants to write. The nurse gives her a new page.
Sara is at a mall and sees Bruno. Bruno asks her for her grandmother. Sara doesn’t want to talk about that, she wants to know if he has seen Alonslow. Bruno tells her that Alonslow is back.

Alonslow and her father are eating ice cream when Alonslow’s phone rings. It is Sara. He doesn’t answer.
The nurse is reading to Hortensia. She closes the book and tells her is time to go to bed. Hortensia wants to keep on writing. The nurse gives her another page. Hortensia writes Sara’s name.

Back at the convent, the nuns brought the files of all the girls that came the same year that Sara and Lorena. They compare the files and they realize that Sara’s file is the only one with just one signature. Madre Trinidad tells them that all of the files have to have two signatures; one for the person that receives the child and one for a witness, therefore Sara’s file is fake, but what if she not only faked her file, but maybe she is not Hortensia’s granddaughter and she faked the file of the real granddaughter? They start wondering who the real granddaughter is. Toribio say that he is sure that Lorena is the granddaughter because Sara has stolen everything from her; why not steal her origin too?
The end

Feugo en la Sangre, 09/26/08: With Mothers Like That Who Needs Enemies?

The misery of motherhood prevails in certain quarters of Ciudad Serdán tonight as we begin.

Fer enters Sofia’s bedroom ready to tell her he now wants to give her that divorce that she’s been begging him for all these many months. Sofia is desperate and half crazed at this point from the sudden loss of her newborn daughter. In a moment of irrational desperation, before Feo can give her the news, she tells him that if he gets her baby back for her she is prepared to do whatever he asks. Feo moves in to take literal advantage of the situation when suddenly Bruja-riela careens into the bedroom out of nowhere on her jet-powered broomstick and unwittingly pushes Sofia back from the brink by giving her the news of the divorce herself. She then pops a wheelie on her broomstick, revs the engine and drops a major hint to Feo that his presence is no longer needed, nor wanted, in Sofia’s bedroom.

Fernando obediently heels. Gabi takes a minute to then inform Sofia that she saw a heart specialist who has ordered treatment for her. She says he warned her that if her daughters didn’t stop causing her so much aggravation she’d have to undergo a heart operation. So, if things didn’t quickly change around there, Sofia and her sisters would have to leave for the good of her health. Mad-Bad Mama having said what she’d come to say, revs and rolls that ‘stick on out of there leaving Sofia to weep and mourn her fate alone. It’s uncertain to those of us in Viewerville, whether Sofia is crying over Mama’s worsened condition or the fact that she realizes how close she just came to avoiding a fate worse than death at being pawed over by Mama’s panting pooch.

While Sofia has been kept from going fully over the brink into madness, Jimena is not so lucky. She is lying on her bed, in a near catatonic state, having been once again overwhelmed by the constant tragedies plaguing the family. Jimena, overcome with so many family misfortunes, has apparently suffered another nervous breakdown but somehow sends a telepathic SOS to Oscar, who suddenly gets a feeling that something has happened to her.

Sarita comes in for a chat with her sister but when she sees that Jimena isn’t responsive she races for help from Mama. Crabi isn’t up for mothering and groans to Sarita and Fernando that the three girls are a never-ending pain in her backside. However, she and Feo do finally follow Sarita to check on Jimena. Gabi takes one look at Jimena and immediately lights into her about her ruining her wa and accuses oblivious Jimena of playing these games just to upset her. Sarita says she’s certain it’s another breakdown the same as when Mama was sick in the hospital. Fernando (the only one there with some common sense) decides to make sure and goes off to get the doctor.

While Sarita frantically tries to get a response from blank-faced Jimena, Gabi drones on as if she’s in a world of her own, carping selfishly about her own poor health and the need for a heart operation if her daughters don’t stop continually vexing her. Totally unmindful of the tragedy unfolding on the bed next to her, Gabi begins haranguing the two girls about wanting to kill her and not giving them the pleasure. She’ll throw them out of the house first! Hearing this threat makes Sarita suddenly stop and take notice and she stares maliciously at Mama.

In town Eladio is doing a lousy job of trying to console a hairless (but finally clean-shaven) Rigo who’s been undergoing radiation treatment for a while. In a definitely touching, two-hanky scene, the two brothers break down in tears together as Eladio ponders Rigo’s fate and tenderly kisses his brother’s forehead.

In a creepy but definite counterpoint to the vicious vamp that claims to be Mother of the Year back in Ciudad Serdán, the Puebla City cardiologist daddy of leggy and luscious doctor-daughter, Leonora, cries because she’s all grown up, has flown the proverbial coop, and he misses her so badly.

Speaking of lovely Leonora, we zoom over the canopy of the rain forest to the outskirts of the indigenous village where the government’s Indian Agent, still pissed at being summarily dissed and dismissed by the defiant doctor, is telling the local shaman (who seems a tad wily and two tads smarter than the average native population there) that they’ll need to teach the uppity broad a lesson or two about humility and what passes for respect for male authority in those parts. He wants the shaman to rile up the village and get them to scorn and humiliate her, and to have them refuse to pay attention to her. That way they’ll soon have her on her knees to them (a la Lewinsky?) and begging for their help.

Meanwhile, back at Hacienda de Harpy, the local doctor examines Jimena and confirms the nervous breakdown. He says he can do nothing more than give her a tranquilizer and wait for her to recover, which might take quite a while. Crabi is incensed at this inconvenience and begins a rant about her being the one who is really ill, while Jimena is only pulling a stunt to get some attention. The doctor looks on straight-faced (as hubby and I agree that this woman is the one who really needs to be interned in an institution, complete with padded cell and strait-jacket). It’s impossible for us in Viewerville to tell what he must be thinking just then as Gabi now self-righteously declares that Jimena is getting just what she deserves, and that her rebellious daughters are so disobedient they are simply receiving God’s punishment. She then breaks into tears and claims she is the long-suffering, God-fearing, wonderful mother who doesn’t deserve any of what’s been happening to her. The doctor continues silently observing these histrionics as Fer “worriedly” pampers and coddles Gabi, then turns to tell him that he really should do something for her. (Euthanasia, perhaps? Works for me!)

Across the hall Sofia and Sarita hover over Jimena trying to communicate with her somehow. Sofia begins to remember good times with Juan but turns maudlin and says she’s certain it was all part of his plan for revenge which he carried out by kidnapping the baby. Sarita wonders if Juan is really capable of that despite her despising the Reyes brothers. Sofia wonders what other explanation there could be. (We can think of one, but apparently Sarita is a little slow on the uptake.) Sarita says she has no idea, but she has come to believe that Juan might be dead. Sofia is impactada at the mere thought of it.

Across the fields at the neighboring Robles hacienda Franco is second only to Juan in decibel level as he screams to a frightened, huddling, tearful Quintina, Eva, and Pablito that he refuses to believe that Juan is dead. (Man, I didn’t think the twerpy little guy had any rage in him. Welcome to my world, Franco!)

That night Leonora is learning about the local medicinal herbs the natives use and we get a quick educational backgrounder in most pharmaceuticals being based on medicinal plants. Silvestre, the Good Indio, points out one of the plants in particular as being one the witchdoctor uses for mind-control. It causes people to lose their free-will and can even be deadly he warns her. In another part of the village that same night the shaman employs a few medicine-man theatrics to set the resident natives against her.

The next day Armando and Fer are having a couple of shots of tequila. Armando doesn’t know how in the blazes El Jefe happened to find out about what happened despite being stuck in prison, but El Jefe wants Fernando to clear up the business about both Juan’s and his new baby girl’s disappearance ASAP. This sets off Fernando who, in another paroxysm of rage, begins screaming at the top of his lungs that he cannot understand what reason El Jefe has to get involved in the Reyes’ affairs. “WHY? WHAT’S IT MATTER TO HIM?” As Armando starts to give him some sort of answer, El Coyote and his rifle-totin’ posse come storming through the door and Coyote says he’ll explain it. First, though, they grab Armando by the collar and throw him the hell out of the office.

Fernando gets on his high-horse and screams at El Coyote. (Big mistake.) “WHAT?? WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO EXPLAIN? DON’T YOU REALIZE I’M FED UP WITH YOU ALL? FED UP!!” One of Coyote’s men butts Fer across the face with his rifle and drops him to the floor. Coyote picks him back up and throws him into the second guy’s rifle butt and says that that is for the time when he insinuated that El Jefe was involved with Pedro because he had a “thing” for Pedro.

While El Coyote is meting out a bit of mortal justice, Sofia is across town at the church praying to the virgencita, madre to madre, asking again for mercy and the return of her baby daughter. Hortensia comes in. The two talk about the pain they share as mothers and then begin to pray.

El Coyote and the posse continue to beat the snot out of Fernando. They give Fer a message from El Jefe: he wants to know the whereabouts of Juan and his baby daughter ASAP. Fernando feigns ignorance and tells them that he was out looking for a doctor at the time and even has a witness. El Coyote tells him to find out who IS guilty then or they will, and that won’t be pretty since they will stop at nothing to get the truth. Fer agrees but says he needs to know why. He can’t understand why El Jefe is so interested in the day-to-day of Juan Reyes and wants them to tell him.

El Coyote drops the the first anvil on Fernando. “That’s right. You still don’t know --El Jefe is Pedro Reyes’ daddy and Juan and the others’ uncle.” Fernando is double-take impactado. “Nothing better happen to them if you value your life!” Coyote warns him and then leaves. (Ruh-Roh!) Fer swallows hard then looks for the biggest bottle of tequila he can find.

Over at the church, outside Padre Tadeo’s office, Eva listens as Sofia admits to him that she offered herself as Fer’s sacrificial lamb chop, out of desperation, to get Fer’s help in finding her daughter. Eva breaks in and tells her not to feel guilty because she would have done the same when her mother took her little baby back when. Tadeo says Sofia should not torment herself over it, and then warns her to steer clear of Fernando from now on and not to trust him about anything. “He’s conniving and corrupt. He could destroy you in an even greater unhappy happenstance.”

Back at the Bad Love, Fer lets Armando have it in spades for not telling him that El Jefe was connected to the Reyes’. Now he’s got to find “the guilty party” or else. Armando tries to squirrel his way out of things by saying there was never an opportunity with Fer because he was spending so much time chasing after Raqui and Gabi. He asks what Fernando plans to do. Fer says he plans to pretend to look for the guilty person and when the time comes, he’ll find someone to blame. He looks threateningly at Armando and says it will be “someone who’s become useless to me.”

The two town gossips check out Sofia’s new shop and find Sarita trying to run things on her own. They commiserate over Sofia’s tragedy.

Not happy harping at just her three daughters, Gabi goes to see Augie and begins the entire litany of woes again as well as placing blame for Sofia and her sisters’ problems totally on them alone. “They went looking for trouble and they found it (meaning they defied Mama). Besides, they over react and now Jimena is faking a nervous breakdown.” Augie says that Crabi’s ambition and insanity have killed the motherly love in her. She laughs in that infuriatingly condescending manner of hers and scoffs that if he is so worried about her daughters they should come to live with him. It would be doing her a favor, she says, so maybe he should really think about it.

Quintina and Pablito show up at Augie’s door at that point and Gabi leaves. They are there to try to return the motorcycle he bought for Quintina, but Augie won’t take it back. The two adults continue to argue and Pablito gets tired of being stuck in the middle as their go-between. (I get tired of having to watch this silly scene a second time. >>FF.) They agree to a truce.

In town Sarita grudgingly accepts Rosario’s offer to help with the shop during the day.

Back at the hacienda, outside Jimena’s bedroom door, Nati overhears Gabi selfishly tell her catatonic daughter that she will be speaking to Dr. Matasanos to get her interned in an institution somewhere because she claims she is too sick to take care of her.

At the little clinic in town the doctor informs Eladio and Hortensia that Rigo’s headaches are now too severe and he needs to operate on the tumor as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Franco has gone to sit under the giant Robles’ family tree to think things through. He remembers Juan telling him and Oscar that their daddy planted the tree long ago for that very reason. He tearfully asks his dead papa (I guess to intercede in Heaven) for a little help in problem-solving for them there on earth. He cries, saying that he knows he raised Juan and later Juan raised them to be upstanding, worthwhile men so it would be impossible for Juan to be guilty of kidnapping his little girl.

Sofia, meantime, has Eva bring her to Ste. Libia’s grave to pray for Libia to intercede with Juan so that he’ll return her baby to her. (Ok. So if Libia can hear, she probably should tell Sofia now how she’s got it all wrong. Maybe she could spell it out in flashing Morse code or something through that neon flower.)

A bit later, Rosendo gallops over to the tree to find Franco and to let him know that Doña Gabriela has ordered the spring (“ojo de agua”) to be shut off since she knows it will automatically dry up the water to their property. Franco immediately rushes to the Elizondo hacienda to speak with Gabi about the rights to the spring.
Fernando comes back from town after his run in with El Coyote and Gabi remarks on his busted lip which he lies about saying it was just a slight accident he had. He immediately changes the subject by handing her the file he says has the divorce papers for Sofia to sign. Gabi looks them over, smiles and says Sofia will sign them that day and then they'll finally be free to marry. Just then Franco rushes in demanding to speak with Gabi about the rights to the spring water and she shoos Fer out of the room. She smiles maliciously as she shows him the document which years ago, before he was murdered, she secretly deceived his papa Juanjo into signing which ceded her rights to the spring.

In another part of the house, Sofia enters and starts up the stairs when Fer, just having left Gabi's office, confronts her. He asks her about the earlier offer to do whatever he asked if he would help her find her daughter. Sofia’s change in ‘tude hits him like a two by four across the jaw. “That was a mother’s pain that made me say and do certain things, but now I realize you are not the proper person to help me, so just forget whatever it was I said because I do not trust you at all.” She stomps up the stairs to her room.

Franco again demands to know what could have made his father sign the rights to his spring away like that. Gabi, knowing she has the upper hand, simply smiles that vile, enigmatic smile of hers at him and refuses to speak. She can barely contain her glee at his confusion and frustration. He lets the document drop to the floor and angrily rushes out of the hacienda.

Upstairs Pablito sneaks into Sofia’s room through the balcony window for a quick visit and a motherly hug. They share a cry over the separation and neither wants to believe that Juan could be dead.

Back at the clinic Nati and Eladio discuss the tragedies that surround them. Nati mentions that the latest is that Jimena is going to be interned in an institution because Doña Gabriela doesn’t want to have to take care of her. Eladio says he doesn’t understand how there could be mothers like that.

Later that evening, back at Harpy Haven, Fer finally hands over the divorce papers to Sofia and says that after this there will be nothing that binds them together. She gladly signs and says it’s what she’s wanted most of all in her life.

El Cuerpo del Deseo, Thurs., Sept. 25 - a hunk wreaks havoc in the hearts of Las Cruces

Las Cruces, where PJ/S is and Río Claro, where the Donoso house and all its happy inhabitants is, are still far apart.

Ángela goes to the Board meeting of her father's company and Andrés and Isabel challenge her to say what she believes but she faints instead.

Lilia peeks at PJ/S trying on his new clothes.

Lilia (with a new sexy wardrobe) asks PJ/S not to leave her house.

Lilia confesses to Father Jacobo that she is having lustful thought about a man. Father Jacobo doesn't figure out that she is talking about PJ/S.

PJ/S is upset by watching the news.

PJ/S begs God to help him figure out what is going on.

Isabel tells Andrés that she isn't that bad a person. She just always wanted to be a 'grande señora.' Andrés tells her that she will be when she marries him.

Lilia and Fatima come to blows over PJ/S.

PJ/S looks on with what seems like a little amusement.

Tía Rebeca gets a makeover. Honestly, when I saw that woman in the credits, I thought it was a new character we hadn't met yet. Underneath it all, she is just as horrible as ever. She finds out that Walter is searching for PJ's safe and they go looking for it in the basement.

Cuidado Thursday September 25, 2008: Viviana goes boogie boarding

Rehash: Mari is walking along a busy street when JM, who is standing by his car waiting, grabs her arm.

New hash: They look at each other and sexy sax music plays. He calls her liar. She says are you mad at me? And he says What do you think? He scowls at her. More sax, but since he is mad, it is safe sax.

A foxy brunette in a ponytail walks up to a modest home and knocks. A middle-aged lady answers and is surprised. Stefania? she says.

Back to JM and Mari. She wants to know how he knows where she lives and he says he’s not as stupid as she thinks. She is copping attitude and wants to know how he found out it was a lie. He says none of your business. She says are you going to take me off to jail? I could run away. He lists her lies. She says you have no right to say I have no mother or father.

Back to Stefania. The middle-aged lady, who we find out is her aunt, is telling her that if she wants to stay with her, she’s going to have to find a job because the aunt is having trouble making ends meet as it is. Stef says of course, but if it bothers you, I’ll find somewhere else, okay? The aunt says it’s okay if you stay, but I can’t afford to pay your expenses. Stefania flips through a paper, and the aunt snatches it out of her hand and says oh look! My friend Cecilia! We see Viviana and Cecilia, the judge’s wife, together in the society pages.

Patricio the judge and Ceclia, sitting out in their garden, see the same photo. Looky there, he says. They remember the party. The judge says what you do think of JM’s wife? She says well, she’s arrogant and egotistical. He agrees, he thinks Viv is bossy, and he’s glad his own wife is so wonderful and he gives her a hug. He says she looks great in the photo with Viv.

JM says to Mari Are you so affected by the loss of your parents? (Maybe he got that PhD in psychology by mail order.) She sticks her chin out. He asks how old she was when she lost them. She tries to walk off, but he stops her. He says he was at the police station to help everyone. She says nobody helps anybody around here, you must have wanted something. He says he wants to save them from the streets and from self-destruction. She says yeah, sure. Just don’t try to jerk me around.

He tries his lopsided smile trick and says I see I can’t. She says I’m not afraid of anybody, and particularly not of some guy whose wife yells at him. He says what do you mean? Mari repeats what she heard: You’ve abandoned me! You don’t want to go to the parties we get invited to! (Black and white flashback of that argument) All you care about is your work and all those nutcases!

JM tells her to shut up and grabs her wrists. How do you know so much about my private life? She says I know a lot about you, and you don’t know anything about me. Let me go. He lets go and apologizes, saying he didn’t realize he’d grabbed her so hard. She says leave me alone, and off she goes down a colorful street scene, full of street vendors and plenty of people. She cuts into a doorway.

The aunt is looking at the paper still. She says I can’t believe she married him again. What luck she has! Stephanie says what are you talking about? (and we want to know too!) The aunt says it’s a long story. See this lady, Cecilia? She has quite a past. Oooh, tell! says Stefania. Later, says the aunt (rats!) right now we need to talk about you.

Where do you plan to get a job? Stef says I dunno, somewhere where I manage a lot of money. Like where? says the aunt. Stef says I don’t know, I’ve been looking for money under rocks. Me too, says the aunt. A light bulb appears over her head and she thoughtbubbles My friend Cecilia! She says to Stef I think I know where we can get some together!

In castle San Ramon, Viv is packing while her mother and Rocio, JM’s younger sister, look on. The sister tells her not to forget her jewels. Never says Viv, looking through her jewelry box. I’m going to recapture my husband. All three smile.

Said husband is sitting on the couch with their little daughter Mayita in his lap. He tells her he’ll be gone for two weeks and she says it’s so long and she’ll miss him. The three ladies come in and the little girl says her goodbyes to her parents.

A plane takes off.

A nice little street scene with an organ grinder, and then we see Mari coming down the stairs of the apartment holding Cuate. Cande worries about fleas her in laundry. She says this stuff is for the San Ramons. Mari says I’m not going to take it. Cande looks surprised.

A palmy beach scene, which they let us know is Miami. A long black limo pulls up by a seaplane. They get out and Viviana squeals mi amor a few times, she can’t wait to be alone with him in Jamaica. Soon they are airborne.

Mari is telling Cande nope, no no. She’s not going to that house. I think she tells Cande that the guy in that house tried to make a pass at her at the police station. Cande wonders who’s going to deliver all their laundry. Mari says she’ll go anywhere but that house. Cande suddenly remembers that their chauffeur told her when he dropped off the laundry that they were going out of town on a plane trip, so that means they won’t be there.

Mari says you’re not lying to me are you? Cande said when have I ever lied to you? Mari says never, and says okay I’ll take it. I sure would like to ride in an airplane sometime. Cande says I’d love to fly one.

Viv and JM are in the plane, looking down at the scenery. For some odd reason, their hair is blowing slightly. She is clutching her jewelry case happily.

Rocio is playing with little Mayita, and Viv’s ma Onelia is annoying them by running her hand over the lower keys of the piano. Onelia tells these young people that Viv has suffered so much due to the actions of JM and that now Viv thinks he doesn’t love her and is staying married just for appearance’s sake. Little Mayita says that’s not true, Grandma! Rocio tells Onelia that these are not proper things for the little one’s ears. Onelia says she needs to know the truth about her parents, since her future will be decided by this trip.

Back in the airplane Viv is happily leaning on JM and says why can’t we stay one week longer? He says you know I have to work. The camera focuses in on her big wonking bracelet.

The pilot says what’s happening? They seem to lose control of the plane and some alarm is going off. They nose down a bit and fake smoke is coming from no specified place on the plane. JM and Viv are frightened. The pilots say We’re going to crash! JM utters the hoary and venerable telenovela word to Viv: Tranquila! She screams.

A guy lets Mari in the gate of the grounds of castle San Ramon. She starts off running through the wooded grounds, but they’re so extensive, she is pooped and walking by the time she gets to the entry. A maid lets her in. She greets Onelia in slang and Onelia corrects her, then asks doesn’t she know to use the service entrance? Mari says she forgot, but here’s the laundry. She hands it over to the cranky maid who also tells her to use the back entrance.

Upstairs, the sister is in her room watching TV when the news comes on of two Mexicans killed in an airplane accident. The footage shows the plane floating in the ocean.

Mari is sitting on the carpeted stairs, waiting, when Onelia comes down and gives her a shove with her foot. They exchange some words, but the captions disappeared. I think Onelia is saying they don’t have to use Cande for their laundry and Mari says whatever.

How cool to live in a castle! Little Mayita moves some old trunks out of the way, exposing some circle-shaped woodwork. She turns one circle and opens a secret door into a small passageway. She climbs over some stuff, then enters a cartoon world where harp music is playing and butterflies fly. She says Grandma Mariana, I’m here! A granny in a white heaven-style robe, her long white hair flowing, comes up to her. Mayita is excited and the granny asks her for a kiss. The granny says why such a sad face, and Mayita says my mommy and daddy are on a long trip and I’m left with Grandma Onelia and I don’t like her, not like I like you. The granny hugs her and says I adore you, I love with you all my heart.

Back to Estafania and the aunt. Stefie is saying she’ll look in the paper tomorrow and start her job search. The aunt says don’t worry if you don’t find anything. Stefie says huh? The aunt says she has a plan to get them both a lot of money.

Rocio is looking at the TV, stunned. The news guy gives the names of the two dead, namely JM and Viv. No waiting until the families are notified, apparently. Rocio breaks down.

Onelia is telling Mari to get lost when Rocio runs down the stairs and sobs the bad news. Onelia says no puede ser! She tells Mari to get lost again, saying she has no right to be present at private family stuff. Mari gives her condolences and leaves.

The judge and his wife have just found out too. The judge says they are still doing the rescue and nobody knows if anyone survived.

In cartoonland, the granny is telling Mayita that her parents will be home soon. Mayita tells her that her daddy hugged and kissed her, but her momma only kissed her forehead and wouldn’t let her hug her. The granny says that Viv doesn’t always show her affection. Mayita says that she loves her granny and doesn’t want any other granny. Her Grandma Onelia is always criticizing her and granny can’t defend her because she’s far away in heaven. The granny says she’s always nearby. Mayita asks how it is in heaven and the granny says it’s great and God is always there. There is no hurt or anger.

Mayita says she’s afraid that her mamma and daddy won’t come back and then she’ll have to live with Grandma Onelia. The granny assures her that won’t happen. (And she would know if they’ve checked in, wouldn’t she?) Mayita says she loves her daddy, but her mother doesn’t pay much attention to her. The granny counsels her to take people as they are and not to measure their love by outward actions. Mayita snuggles happily in her granny’s arms.

On the way home on the bus, Mari thinks poor guy and some other things I didn’t understand. At the castle, Onelia sobs poor Viviana. My only daughter! I can’t imagine that I have lost her forever! She was so looking forward to this trip and now… why her? Rocio looks on sadly.

The doorbell rings and they hope it’s news. We see that Rocio has on a micro mini and some hussy high heels. Tut! Onelia says I hope my daughter was saved, only her if anyone. It’s best friend Eduardo, who says there are survivors, but he doesn’t know who. Onelia spots the little girl looking through the stairwell woodwork. She tells the cranky maid to take the little girl to her friend’s house.

Mari comes home and Cande wonders if they paid. Mari hands over the money and says there was an accident. Cande is scared that it’s Padre Anselmo. Mari says no, it’s that couple.

The cranky maid takes the little girl to Loli’s house, but she doesn’t want to stay. She is led off by that family’s maid.

Back at the castle, everyone worries and waits. Eduardo has left and will call if there’s more news. Onelia says it’s best for Mayita if she doesn’t know anything, then goes off to another room. Rocio tells the cranky maid Malvino that Onelia is only concerned for her daughter and nobody else. The maid says well, you know how she is. Rocio says I hope both have survived, most of all for Mayita’s sake. They hug.

The phone rings and Rocio answers. It’s Eduardo! Onelia runs in and rips the phone out of her hand. He looks like he’s at an airport and he says he has the list of survivors. She says my daughter? He says it looks like JM. My daughter? He says she’s not on the list. Onelia falls weeping onto the couch and Rocio grabs the phone. Eduardo tells her that JM is alive and on his way to a hospital in Miami. He’s waiting for a flight there right now.

A plane is airborne.

Mari is lighting candles in front of the virgin and the padre comes in. She wants to know if people who crash at sea go to heaven. He says if they’re good it doesn’t matter where they die. She says he was a good guy, and she kneels to pray.

Eduardo is at JM’s bedside. JM says he hurts all over. Maybe he will have amnesia! No such luck - he says the crash was horrible. We relive it in black and white. He says and Viviana? Eduardo looks serious.

Onelia is sobbing. Rocio comes in and says don’t lose hope, maybe Viv will suddenly appear, alive, like her brother. Onelia says my daughter is dead and it’s your brother’s fault.

In the hospital, Eduardo says nobody knows what happened to Viv, it’s like she just disappeared. Eduardo says no, he saw somebody floating in the water, alive. We see some black and white scenes of broken stuff floating in the water near a palm-lined shore. It must’ve been Viv, says JM. JM tries to get out of bed, he wants to see about Viv, but Eduardo holds him down saying tranquilo.

Rocio is telling Onelia that she can’t blame JM. Onelia says probably he had a chance to save her and didn’t do it, because he doesn’t love her. Rocio says she was his wife, don’t say such things. Onelia says he just stayed married to keep up appearances and in this accident he saw his big chance to get rid of her.

Uh oh, somehow little Mayita is back and she’s listening in the background. Onelia is saying it’s just the same as if he murdered her. He let her drown. He’s guilty! Onelia is getting hysterical. Mayita runs up and cries My mother isn’t dead and my father didn’t kill her.

At the hospital, JM is just hanging up the cell. He says no word of her, but no body. She must’ve died and he gets all weepy. He wants to know if Mayita knows. Eduardo says no, they’re not telling her, but Onelia and Rocio are devastated. He wants to talk to them, but Eduardo says tranquila.

Mayita is sobbing, she wants her mama and daddy. Onelia tells Rocio to take her to her room. JM is on the phone and Onelia says she’ll talk to him and tell them what he says. Actually, it’s Eduardo, but JM takes the phone from him. Onelia wigs out and shrieks assassin! at him. You didn’t save her! He tells her there were other survivors, he saw somebody out there in the ocean. He says he hopes it was Viv. Liar! says Onelia, you wanted her dead. Maldito! You should have died instead of her!

JM almost crushes the phone in frustration. He weeps. Eduardo says tranquilo.

The street is still lively at night. Cande is seen wearily lugging a huge bag of laundry. Inside, she says it’s some family’s wash. She sits and rubs her leg. Mari says even though she didn’t know the family, she feels bad about the guy. Cande feels sorry for the little girl. Mari didn’t know there was a child. Cande says she’s about 6. Mari says now she’s an orphan like me, poor thing.

In Mayita’s bedroom, she is on the bed, sobbing in the arms of Rocio. The doctor is there and gives her a sedative. Rocio tells her she’ll never be alone, she has her.

Mari comes up on her bicycle and tells the painter guy (Vicente) she can’t pose tonight. She tells him about the accident and who was involved. She gets tears in her eyes.

The arty types, including the cousin, are in Vicente’s place, one playing the guitar. Vicente tells them about the accident.

Mari is sitting on the steps in Cande’s place with Cuate on her lap. She is remembering JM and we have some black and white scenes of her talking to him. She decides maybe he was okay and not bad like most other men.

It’s daytime again and Mari is sweeping the landing in the busy apartment house. Here comes that nice young man Adrian. He wonders where she’s been. She says she’s been busy, but she has thought of him. He is really pleased and runs up the stairs. She says sometimes sad things happen and then she thinks of him. He hears the dog bark and asks what’s that? She brings him in to meet Cuate. She says she found him in an alley, just like Cande found her. He sees that she is sad and he said what happened, did someone do something to you? She says it’s a secret, a sad secret, that I never tell anyone. He looks serious.

In the hospital, some official guy tells a weepy JM that the search is over and Viv has not been found . JM says did the sharks eat her? (Sorry – I made that up.) Is she dead? The guy says we are classifying her as missing.

We see her floating on a piece of flotsam, face down, like passed out.

Avances: Viv is seen washed up on a beach. Mari sees JM and says no puede ser!

QE - Thursday 9/25 - It's Hammer Time! (The implacable hammers of destiny are waiting to pound.)

From last night: Al calls himself an imbecile. Vasco absolutely refuses to talk to Sara's director of programming. She calls him an idiot.

Alonslow shows up at Lor's place to share his big news, Sara was boinking Chalo all along! Lor is justifiably insulted, duh, why didn't he believe her in the first place? Now she's not interested. She keeps waving her hands around and flashing her engagement ring. She admits it really hurt when he left but there's nothing more to say. He finally notices her big shiny ring as she wrings her hands. His stiff jaw tries to drop.

Sara attempts to insult Vasco into supporting the program. Generally this is not a good negotiating technique. Icky says there's nothing left to do because it's a lost cause. Sara is pissed but then gets a phone call from Alan and she acts sickeningly sweet.

Alonslow asks Lor if she loves Ernesto like she loved him. He's such an ass. She says it's a different love but now Ern is the love of her life. Slow asks forgiveness again and splits. Shoot, Lorena looks tortured.

Gladys brings the kids home which answers the question of where they were. I guess they get along better with their cousins when they're not living with them because Gladys says they were marvelous. Ern says his recipe for success is lots of discipline and lots of love. Gladys asks who is Lorena? Ern says his girlfriend, er his fiancee. Gladys is surprised, how things have changed with him.

Maru gets home and sees Lorena's engagement ring, lots of hugging and crying. Maru wants to make the cake.

Sara meets up with Alan, her boobs are all over the place. She says there's a small problem, her business can't sponsor the show, will he be the patron? He says he can't because he's got other things going on. He caresses her shoulder.

Lor tells Maruja that Ern trusts her and there have never been lies between them. This is Telenovela doomspeak meaning that some lies are about to pop up.

Old Alan caresses Sara and she nuzzles his neck. His phone rings and afterward he tells Sara that his wife thinks she's number one. Slimy Sara slithers toward him and tells him she'd like to be his number one, but first he has to be the patron of her program.

Torbi is logged onto mx.match.com and wants to meet Solecito. He slams the laptop shut when Slow gets home. He pretends to be reading the headlines, something about a big bust on some forging operation, among the documents were those having to do with an orphanage. The lightbulb goes on in Al's dim attic.

The happy Dario family is shopping or something when suddenly Jaqui and Icky show up. Pau and Jaqui have a snark-off, Paula wins and Jaqui goes ballistic. Icky has to drag her out. Gotta rewind on that one.

Toribio and Al bitch about Sara who tried anything to get Al away from Lorena. Alonslow suspects that something is seriously up with Sara, worse even than anyone thought. He thinks he might know why she doesn't really love her "parents". He's going to San Martin to investigate. "Lorena's village?" asks Torbi.

Post coital Chalo, wearing his tiny bikini undies, is unhappy that Barb hides their relationship from Vasco, she treats him like a leper or something. She asks him to have patience. He says he's sick of having patience, it's always the same for him. Eh, she says, the same? She suspects he's been with another married woman. He tells her not to change the subject, if she's ashamed of him maybe they should just end it.

Alone, Lorena admires her ring. Rosy comes into the bedroom and crabs until Lor shows her the carbon.

Bruto tosses and turns because his escuincle child is crying. He screams at it to shut up while Diana tries to calm it.

Zuly wakes up with a heart ache, headache and she can't breathe. At first I thought she was having a premonition of Diana's miserable night but I think it might be time for her bariatric surgery. Omar tries to calm her down with a cup of tea, then tells her maybe her weight is the problem. She admits she's had trouble climbing stairs.

Bruto and Diana fight about everything. He says he wants to be alone, they fight some more and the baby starts crying again. He screams at her to shut it up. He's such an asshat, of course he should help but since he refuses hasn't he at least heard of ear plugs? Not great but better than turning into a wife-beating child hater.

Next a.m. Maru has to tell Rossy something, she's going to get married. Jaime's divorce is about to be final and Rossy's father will never appear. What if he does show up, asks Rossy? That'll never happen says Maru, confirming that indeed he will, so sayeth Telenovela gospel.

Zuly tells Omar she's feeling better but she coughs pathetically and almost faints.

Ern gets the kids ready for school. Lorena shows up so that she and Ern can announce that they are engaged. Everyone is happy. For now.

Barb asks Vasco what was eating Sara yesterday, she was in a crummy mood. He says it's because he wouldn't sponsor her new show. Barb comments that's good because Sara doesn't have any talent.

Sara overhears and announces she does have talent! She whines that Vasco shouldn't talk behind her back. Fine then, I'll say it to your face, he exclaims. She says she loathes him. He tells her fine, leave, the door is plenty big for your ego to fit through. Vasco announces that NOTHING is hers and she'll be in the street. She slaps him and threatens him. After Sara leaves Barb warns him that Sara is capable of anything so be careful.

Sara stomps out in a snit and announces to chauffeur Chalo she's had it with those idiots and it's time to show them what she's made of. She offers to give Chalo half her inheritence if he kills Snorty.

Al is back at work and his new patient is Zuly. There is a bunch of medical speak but basically she has to have a lot of tests to prove she's overweight. Zuly asks how is her daughter and Al is all "I don't know we broke up months ago". Zuly shares with him how Sara just wants to forget her poor family and have nada to do with them. He says Well what do you expect, I dropped her off at your house so she could ask your pardon and you refused to forgive her. Zully says Duh, that's an absolute lie, I would never have done that, how could you even think it? He knows he's been had.

Chalo tells Sara he's not on the killer team anymore and admits it's because he wants Barb to be proud of him. She tells him Barb will never forgive him if Sara tells her he almost killed Vasco. Anyway, Snorty is practically dead already. She dangles boinkage in front of him to try to bend him to her will. He bites his lip.

Chalo storms into Barb's room. "Barbara" he says loudly, but then sees Vasco there, busted! Vasco gets kind of snotty and shoos Chalo out. He wonders why the chauffeur is coming into his mami's room and calling her by name. Barb makes some lame excuse and heaves a big sigh of relief when Vasco leaves.

Lor brings a baby gift to Diana, a precious blankie. Later they coo over the baby and Diana tells Lor she has a picture of Zuly as a child and the baby's eyes are just like hers. I guess Zuly has very distinctive eyes, so distinctive they can be seen in all her female progeny.

Chalo's pride takes over and he goes back to Barb's room, he says Vasco thinks he's a poor ignorant. They bicker. She tells him she loves him and they go into a lip-lock. Vasco walks in, sees them and is cara impactada going into commercial.

Barb admits to Vasco that she and Chalo are in love. She's a free woman and Chalo, a good and noble guy (hack hack) makes her happy. Chalo protectively hugs Barb and tells them they need to talk so he leaves. Vasco's not happy, says Chalo is an imbecile and a chauffeur. Barb is surprised that Vasco has turned into such a clasista.

Maru and Jaime are in love, two more ads (trying to locate her husband) and she's free. Maru admits that Rossy, Omar and zuly aren't happy about them, but she'll defend his love to the end.

Barb tells Vasco she feels alive thanks to Chalo. Vasco rips on her but she doesn't back down. She's happier than ever before and Chalo has changed, he's a better person. He tells her she's fifty! (Aha, so we know her age now. Doesn't sound so old to me, heh heh) She tells him not to be like his granny, always ripping on people for liking to be with "improper" people. Barb deserves bad stuff but I kind of feel sorry for her. The hammer over her head is enormous.

Al catches Bruto asleep as his desk. Bruto complains that his baby kept him up all night. Al tells him that he's going away for a couple of days and can Bruto take care of giving Zuly her high blood pressure tests?

Diana lets it slip that between the baby crying and Bruto yelling she's absolutely exhausted. Lor is surprised, why was Bruto yelling? Didn't he want to take care of his baby? Lor suggests that Diana ask Zuly to come over to help. Diana sadly says that won't work, Bruto's privacy is sacred.

Sara is getting made up at the studio and meets some oddly over-wigged and over made-up lady, wife of Alan. I'm fascinated by her face. Do you remember Bruce Campbell's character in Escape from L.A.? The overly nipped and tucked Surgeon General of Beverly Hills? She kind of looks like that. She loves Sara's work, she's so talented! "Oh very" drools Alan.

Barb tells Chalo that Vasco didn't like the idea of them together but he's going to accept it. He tells her that what she did he'll record in his soul. They hug and make out. Chalo looks over her shoulder and hopes that he can forget everything that he was.

Sara's on the air with her first episode of "Cooking with Joy" (is that how it might be translated?). Alan's mujer says Sara's good people, she even invited Scare Hair to cook with her; she's certain that her being Alan's wife has nothing to do with it. Alan licks his chops and mutters "if you only knew".

Zuly sadly watches and Julian turns the program off. He tells her not to be a masochist and right now she should only be thinking of her health.

Greta, now at work and displaying her exemplary coffee-making skills, tells Omar his last name is familiar and asks if he knows Snortensia Armendariz. They figure out that he is Jaime's brother and even though he mentions his wife Greta asks herself if perhaps this is the millionaire that Conchita saw in her cards. She grins like a barracuda.

The cooking school administrator tells Lorena that the investigation found nothing out of the ordinary, Lor is an excellent student. She warns her not to do anything to stir up bad rumors and Lor promises to be discreet. Administrator (who used to be Jacaranda in Barrera, right?) tells Lor that there are some sort of classes in the Commercial Center (poor part of town?) where they are teaching cooking. They need a teacher, the pay isn't great but the work is good and she thought of Lor. Is she interested?

Al tells Tori that he leaves at dawn. He discovered something important, another one of Sara's lies, and he's going to San Martin to investigate her past. Tori announces that Al needs a partner and he's just the man of the job. They man-pound each other's arms and smile at their comraderie.

The ex-wives club plays cards. Maru announces that she wants to get married but there's a problem. No, it's not that Jaime's still married, Maru is the one who's not legally divorced.

Over at Casa Maruja the doorbell rings. Rossy answers and some middle-aged guy walks in. Que sorpresa, it's her real papa! We didn't have to wait more than one episode to see him, this show really seems to rush things along. She recognizes him immediately and gives him a hard time for abandoning them. He says he was confused, give papa a hug! She gives him the super stink eye instead.

Greta and Paula wonder what will happen if Mr. Maruja decides to show up after all these years? Greta volunteers to go to bat and treat his head like a baseball. Paula volunteers to help.

Mr. Maruja comments to Rosi (yes, the closed captions changed the spelling of her name) on their comfortable house, much nicer than when he was around. He supposes that Maruja wants to get married and that's why she placed an ad looking for him. Rosi tells him if he really loves her he can show it by refusing to give Maru a divorce. She doesn't want him to marry that guy Jaime. Mr. Maru yanks at his scraggly moustache as he considers his options.

Bright and early the next morning Al and his pa arrive at St. Martin. They ring up the nuns.

Lor shows up for her new job. She's gazing open-mouthed at something but we never see what it is. Whatever. Doña Beatriz welcomes her. She needs someone to teach the locals how to cook simple, nutritious and inexpensive food. They have good taste but cheap pockets. Lor says she knows something of that seeing as how she was raised in an orphanage.

Over at the nunnery Al and Tori find Madre Trinidad and try to pump her for info. OK, this is weird, she used to be a happy airhead and now suddenly she's the stern Mother Superior? OK, turns out she doesn't really like Al because he bad-mouthed Lorena in the past. Al says he was wrong about Lorena and that's why he's here. She says leave Lor in peace. He says they want to investigate Sara. MT says Sara's no white dove but she's no monster either. "Oh but she is," insists Torbi. Al tells her not only is Sara after her granny's money but he suspects something much more serious. He's there to find out about Sara's origins. (And yes, that dull statement was indeed the suspense-laden finale.)

Sorry, no previews for tomorrow, Tivo recorded Ugly Betty so it must be the new season!

Fuego 9-25-08 'Where oh Where can my BeBe be?"

First here is my shout out to all the "Indian footage" that this producer loves to insert in his TeleNovelas, my first shot is Pablo Montero, that's Franco to you. This awesome authentic picture was from that suckfest "Between the Love and the Hate" Yes Susan Gonzalez fell in a stream and woke up an Indian village. I believe she had amnesia...Uuuuhhhh total deja vu all over again

Now here is a picture I took in a town that is famous for hand made guitars. While we were wandering around waiting for the "Bajo Sixto" the twelve string guitar used in Norteno bands.
I mean the detail is pretty bad, but as you can see this is more like what you see.

Now for inquiring minds...here is a link to Arroyo Grande Guerrero. It doesn't show the town, but this is what it looks like. Rural Mexico at it's best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upz4EkEswSQ. No I am not HotChica1991, that is the river, yes I have bathed, washed clothes and had great romping good times in the river. It can be compared to the French Rivera; yet not so pretentsious. The gov't built a huge dam and the water goes to Mexico City DF, but it did bring actual water lines and real electricity to the Ranches & Arroyo Grande..sometime in the mid 90's. Progress... The gov't also put a fence around the lake and they guard it. I thought it was cause the river got diverted from some small ranches and I thought maybe they were worried someone would try to damage the dam. Not true..it is because it was a perfect place to dump a body. Hee Hee Hee, oh well enjoy the H2O DF.
But as you can see there is still plenty of places to stash a body..Fer & Crabi.

On to the Show....
Oscar and Franco are asking Ma & Pa to help them find Juan...Ma & Pa don't answer, but if we are taking this literally; isn't this a bit like last night when the Circle of Life stood screaming Juan at each other. Boyz, Ma & Pa may send good wishes, but they can't get up and help.

The lamenting continues over at the church. Sofie is begging the Virgin of Guadalupe to help her, help the kid & yadda, yadda, yadda..Yeah bring the kid back and I will name her after you, Maria Guadalupe...(Somewhere in heaven, Mary yawns, yeah novel idea your big sacrifice is naming a kid Maria in Mexico...Wow that's a first).

Sofie looking all wan and pale, has an awesome Lil Laura Funeral Attire, so lacy so ornate I haven't seen anything quite like it since Scarlet O'Hara buried her first husband.

Now over to Crabi & Fer, they are all giddy with excitement realizing that the hacienda & is all Crabi's. I don't get that, I mean was there a time stipulation in the will or does Crabi realize that Sofie needs another Rabies shot and that would be a perfect time to get Sofie spayed?

Hey folks let us take a stroll over to the Indian Village where the busty babe doctor is hanging out with the locals who live in awesome grass, stick huts. They are thrilled that babe doctor came here to help them. She apparently watched an old JFK video on you and joined the peace corp. Anyway Babe doctor says she would like to freshen up. The ladies (tell her she has to go swim in the river) Nude no less.
---ED disclaimer---
women do not bathe in the river alone, they go in groups, and trust me they wear underwear and tee shirts in the river, because yes people do watch.

Next babe doctor is nude in the river, we can tell this cause there is some subtle digitizing to protect the American audience from any sneaky peaky..violence is cool, skin is not. People we have standards in this country.
Actually, Babe doctor flirts with the camera as she is bathing, I'm next to surprised that a barely legal boy scout or brave doesn't show up wearing nerd clothes and thick glasses, only to be seduced by babe doctor...Oh crap sorry I forgot, that is on Pay-for-view.

Over to Franco & Oscar, who have now decided that since Ma & Pa did not dig themselves out of the tomb, they have to get up and go look for Juan themselves. We have some screaming back and forth about, where...where are we to look? Who knows, Oscar is going to look..I'm not sure where, but it sounds like he plans to cross through the shadow land between the real world and Bridadoom.
--I am getting the idea that when Oscar is found six months from now in a Tijuana Whore House..he will swear he is just following a hot tip.

Crabi & Fer decide to go see a heart doctor as long as they are in Pueblo.
Oh surprise me again...Dudes it is Nestor, (I call him Nestor cause that was his name in Guapos), but it is Babe Doctor's Pa. Crabi laments to Dr. Nestor, that she has suffered so from her evil disrespectful hijas, ah the doctor can understand. Children so disrespect their loving parents.
Referring to Peace Corp Babe.
He tells Crabi she has a lesion on her heart. He has a crappy plastic heart. You know those crappy things that the insurance companies hand out, to make you feel like "Yeah, this medicine must really be good, cause this is an awesome plastic rendition of a human organ".
Well fans, I am totally convinced. He tells Crabi, she must avoid anguish, no murders, no baby stealing...or else she could require an operation.

briefly--Quintana is sitting outside and crying..Oh Juan, Oh Juan, Oh Juan...Now Juan's horse of great intelligence comes out of said barn and takes off. Run Horsie, Run and don't ever look back.

Okay Sofie is still whining around the church. Padre Tad talks to her alone and Ximena the incompetent and Sarita the frustrated go out and buddy up to Eva, everything is all forgiven. Right Eva, no wonder you are such a chump, they are setting you up to blame again. Eva is like the dog, people kick the crap out of and then give a dog biscuit and the dog rolls over on his back, oh kick me, whip me, oh let me love you.

Crabi & Fer are now drinking wine and chatting about letting the good times roll. Fer takes this time to ask Crabi about her reaction to Juan Jose Robles. Crabi says I didn't know him..Fer presses the issue, yeah you knew him (like a bibical way), Crabi is all pissed. Fer says hey I am totally jealous. I know you were feelin the urge to merge. Crabi turns all stern and talks to Fer like you'd talk to a twelve year old who picked his nose in public.

The Padre of many secrets, tries to give Sofie the big wink, "Trust me on this, Juan would never steal your kid, he loves you...blah blah blah". Needing someone to blame, Sofie doesn't want to hear it, instead she and Pad Tad, bother the Virgincita once more.

Now Rigo, or tumor guy's Ma talks to Eugenia. Ma knows that Eugenia had the hawts for Benny, but she stayed for Rigo. Now Ma is scared that Eugenia will take off and leave Rigo, thus leaving him with a ginormus brain tumor and a broken heart. Eugenia says no, she will never do that and she will marry Rigo. Ma is grateful, cause Eugenia is making such a sacrifice, damn lady real confidence in your son.

Okay now there is some kind of peasants revolt at the jail...They demand that the sheriff try to find the truth about the missing kid. The peasants, that Fer did it. The sheriff says Fer was looking for the Doctor so it could'nt have been him. Please CSI would have used a geiger counter at night and found the kid with a combo of clicking sounds and the strange green glow.

Two guys one, creepy Not a Indian--guy who looks authentic cause he is carrying around a skull on a stick with one of Rachels old wigs on it's head. He is talking to Skinny old Mexican guy, with dyed hair, dyed mustache and macho black leather vest. Skinny guy was a porn star in the seventies and proudly still sports his porn star stache. I dunno who the skinny guy is, but I swear I have seen a doppleganger of this guy at every rodeo, bar, town, wedding I have ever been to. They are watching nude Doctor Babe, which is to be expected since there is no newstand for Hustler in the small village.

Doctor Babe starts talking to young post adolescent Indian boy, she is explaining that vaccines are very import, their has been a huge outbreak of HPV or genital warts. PSA hey kids..get the vaccine.

Skinny guy wants to meet with her about the vaccines. She takes off her official Doctor Coat and gives it to young Doogie, you know Doogie is going to be doing gynological exams.

Babe doctor follows Skinny about fifty foot and all the sudden they are at a huge hacienda.

Babe Doctor makes sly comments about the poor people and how she is their to help them. He pours a drink and tells her yeah, he will help her, for a little lovin. She smacks the former Long Don Juan and marches off, back to the mud huts. He rubs his face and leers after her. Yes Long likes the chase.

Franco runs into the three sisters & Eva, he tries to say Juan is innocent, but Sarita the frustrated bitch is all up in his face. Franco says Oscar is gone, he has left to search every whore house in Mexico for Juan and it could be years, yes decades before he gets thru all of them. We the viewing audience know that Ximena is muy, muy, muy impacted because her eyes get really big. Franco tells Sofie that Juan loves her and would never steal the kid. Sofie gets all snotty. Franco says the horse came home alone…Loud dramatic music..Sofie doesn’t give a Raton’s Cula about Juan, he was just the sperm donor. Ewww every can of Coor’s been in a 10 kilometers range just had it’s mountains turn blue.

Crabi & Fer driving home, pull over on the awkward drive home. Fer presses again about Juan Jose, Crabi admits she knew him, but no more discussion for now. Fer notes her demeanor and files the info away for later.

Okay now Sofie is upstairs on the bed talking to a baby sweater, playing with it like the kid is in it. I know we are supposed to think princess made this sweater, yet I beg to differ. It was no doubt whipped up by the blue birds or cheery woodland creatures that follow Sofie around. How do I know this? Cause the damn thing isn’t covered with ruffles, gussets and endless rick-rack. We get the standard rehash of “I’ll love you, protect you, die for you” blah blah blah always, always, always, how patient and good Juan was with Sofie after her twenty-seventh attempted rape, how she loved living in his humble house (oh bitch) compared to the hacienda where her life was hell. How she would never return to Fer & Ma. Now Sofie snaps back, Lies Lies Lies, it was all lies. However, Sofie’s Garmin is malfunctioning and now I get it..She is not thinking, “ Jeez, I should have believed in Juan and stayed with him” instead she believes it is more of vengeance that Juan is seeking against her and her uber pure hoohah. Now she thinks she will do anything..ANYTHING to get the kid back.

Ximena is in her room looking vacant, she is holding her heart pillow and thinking Oscar is gone, gone a whoring and he may never come back. As if he can ride over five miles and not hit the plastic bubble of quarantine that surrounds Brigadoom. Her face screws up, I think it is cause she is trying to think real hard, but alas I fear it…maybe that case of nerves thing where she gets catatonic, we will have to watch really closely to see if we can tell a difference.

Oh I forgot earlier Crabs asked Fer what happened the little Bastard, Fer said better you don't know. She smiles.
Now Fer and Crabi are seriously making out on the steps, he looks like he is gonna do the slide the thigh routine, but instead he says he is going to tell Sofie he is divorcing her and marrying Ma.

Fer comes into the room and before he can say anything, she asks him to help her find the baby, she will do anything to find the baby. Fer puts the brakes on the divorce info.

Stay tuned, looks like Fer is gonna swoop in for a kiss..tomorrow night.

STILL NO JUAN...
ALSO would someone tag this for me..
Thanks

Doña Bárbara - Wed., Sept.. 24: Luisana and Mauricio leave Altamira; Toño wakes up with more than hangover

Another great episode last night. Thanks Margarita for the summary of Tuesday's episode.

Luisana is rude to Cecilia and Marisela flips out and says that she has had enough of being nice to someone who just whines and complains all the time.

Santos goes out to look for Lorenzo and finds DB who has come to tell Santos that he can't marry Luisana. She manages to get him to have sex with her again. Afterwards he tells her that he is still going to marry Luisana. DB threatens Luisana and Santos ties her hands behind her back and scares off her horse leaving her to walk home. Not surprisingly, she is furious. When Santos gets back to Altamira after finding Lorenzo at Mr. Danger's house, he decides to take Luisana to San Fernando and away from the danger from DB. Only Cecilia and Lorenzo will be left behind.

Josefa and Federica undress the passed-out Antonio. Josefa is impressed with his 'equipment.' Mujiquita walks in on them and Josefa spins the plan out as benefiting him. She says that Pernalete will give him a promotion when thanks to this plan, Federica marries Antonio. Mujiquita seems to buy this but he has a really big mouth and he will probably rat Josefa out down the road.

Mauricio notices Marisela's new ring. He advises Marisela to show the ring to Santos.

Federica gets into bed with Antonio.

On her walk home, DB falls and comes face to face with a rattlesnake. Eustaquia is worried about DB not coming home but the ranch hands refuse to go look for her.

Gervasia confesses to the other terneras that she is preggers by Leon Mondragon.

In a really funny and sad scene, Maurice says goodbye to Pajarote. Pajarote gives Mauricio gifts from the other ranch hands. A lucky rope, a knife and a tanned snakeskin - all things that Mauricio really doesn't want but he takes them in respect for the spirit in which they were given. He gives Pajarote a hug. Mauricio is such a wonderful character. I hope he comes back.

DB show up with her employees at Altamira looking for Santos. Cecilia tells her that Santos has gone to San Fernando. Her ranch hands search Altamira. BP finds a piece of Luisana's underwear and he decides to keep it.

Antonio's reaction when he wakes up next to Federica.

DB goes to the river and yells at Santos to to leave. [The boat and DB were obviously not filmed together.] The previews seem to show that Luisana has a relapse.
