La Que No Podía Amar #67 Thursday 3/29/12 The Woman Who Couldn't Handle It Anymore, *sob*

Oh, yeah, Ana Paula's toooootally into Rogelio. Even if she's not ready to completely admit it yet.

Dopey Gustavo huffs and puffs and fails to blow the hacienda down. He angrily undresses, throwing his clothes around in a manner not described in the Chippendale manual. Cinthia comes in and offers to help him relax…and he rejects her. And then apologizes for being such a dumbass. But he still doesn't want to go out to dinner. Cynthia leaves him to his heavy breathing. Alone.

Bruno comes into Team Evil Headquarters. Vanessa is thrilled that Rogelio thinks David is the owner of La Negra. She excuses herself to get ready for dinner. Bruno lets David know that he drugged the cows, so anytime he wants to call the authorities, go for it.

Rosaura whines. Miguel suggests maybe she should play nice with Maria. More whining from Rosaura. Miguel tries to calm her down. They get into an argument about the Paula/Gustavo/Cinthia triangle and who should and shouldn't be behaving the way they are/aren't. Miguel says they need to go get money from the bank tomorrow, for wood. Rosaura insists they ought to be asking Rogelio for money. Miguel blasts her for her stubbornness.

Ana Paula now whines to Dany about how Gustavo is sooooo upset since she told him she might maybe possibly a little bit be having feelings for Rogelio.

Efrain sneaks into Cinthia's room with a bottle of aguardiente ("fire water"; moonshine). He takes some healthy swigs and finally convinces her to have some. He wants to talk about her reaction to finding out who owns La Negra. She claims it's because she doesn't want David around. At the mention of another man's name, Efrain decides he needs to re-brand her with his hot, hot kisses.

Maria and Rosaura continue their standoff. If Rosaura wants to insist that she knows how to run the house then she'd better prove it. She goes into town with Miguel, saying she'll make the grocery list on the way. I hope Maria has some of the necessities stockpiled or Rosaura's going to come back to town with twenty pounds of candy and a bottle of dish soap and expect the whole household to be able to live off of that for a week.

Cinthia thinks that at some point Rogelio will find out that Vanessa is part owner of La Negra. "If he finds out, you'll never get his love back." Vanessa says if she has to, she'll sell the land to Bruno for cheap to keep Rogelio from finding out. Cinthia asks if they're going to give back the water once she has her part of the land and Vanessa says they will. Cinthia shows a small spark of intelligence when she says that she hopes the plan goes the way they expect it to, or it's going to suck for all of them. Well, I said it was a small spark…we can't expect her to get both brain cells firing at the same time on her very first day of attempted use!

Margarito is bummed to miss the party. Ana Paula and Rogelio will stay home with them, but now this bums Hugo out. Ana Paula bats her eyelashes and says if she's staying home, she can take care of him and Hugo can go to the party. Rogelio tells Hugo to thank the nice boss lady for being so concerned for all the hacienda workers. He asks Maria to go to the party and give Ulises something from him.

Cinthia starts talking to Vanessa about Gustavo being in a bad mood yesterday. She thinks it has something to do with The Ex. She's not going to start all over with a new potential husband. She's sure that Gustavo will help her get her inheritance, but she's not using him…they're mutually helping each other.

Rogelio goes downstairs and runs into a still huffing and puffing Gustavo. Maybe I'm being too hard on him. Maybe he has asthma. Or he just quit smoking. Or every time they show him lately, he's just gotten done running a marathon. Hey, I'm trying here. Gustavo says things are going well with the turbines, he's just upset about something…else. Rogelio offers to talk it over with him in the office and Gustavo takes him up on the offer.

Rosaura is STILL complaining about giving Miguel the money. He asks if she has some reason not to want to help him. Rosaura says she just doesn't like the idea of not having a stash of cash in case Rogelio finds out who Gustavo is. She tells Miguel to wait for her in the plaza and warns him not to go drinking. David shows up.

Gustavo has noticed a drop in the water pressure. He knows something's wrong, but he doesn't know what. Rogelio asks him to investigate.

David mocks Miguel, asking if he's not grateful for the pardon. Miguel is, quite rightly, upset that his freedom depended on David giving him that pardon when David knows full well that he didn't steal the truck. David tells him to ask his brother-in-law about that. Rogelio is not to be trusted. "For your own good, don't ever trust him." It's fairly obvious to me that Team Evil is going to get nowhere with all their evil scheming because they're all to stupid and blinded by their own baggage to know when to keep their individual and collective mouths shut.

Gustavo sees Ana Paula outside and tells her they have to talk. He asks if her aunt put the screws to her. Or Rogelio. He can't believe their love has just disappeared from one day to the next. AP says too many things can change in the coming months and it's not fair to make him wait. Cinthia comes up, asking what's going on. Gustavo says it's nothing and then asks to speak to her.

Rosaura lies (I assume) to Miguel that the money is in limbo and she can't get it until next week. He wants a better explanation, but Rosaura says there's no time, she's got to fix dinner. I don't think she's spent the money--how could she have? Out there in the middle of nowhere. Maybe she's ordering stuff from catalogs. www.tackybroads.com? But would they deliver to the hacienda? And without anyone noticing? Could she be into online gambling? She doesn't strike me as the kind of person who knows how to operate a computer. Maybe she just has a pathological need to stockpile money. Maybe she never spent the blackmail money from Elsa all those years ago.

Gustavo apologizes to Cinthia for being an ass the previous day. She tells him not to worry about it. Gustavo takes off to deal with his errand.

Cinthia asks to talk to Ana Paula. She says she's realized what's going on between AP and Gustavo. I seriously doubt that.

Cinthia says she's noticed them talking. She thinks AP is after her man. She tells her that since she married a paralyzed man for money, her punishment is to live with her decision.

Miguel is worried that Ana Paula is going to get sick. Rosaura says he should be worried about his poor sick auntie, who could keel over at any minute. We should be so lucky! She notices Bruno and sends Miguel to get her some ice cream, but since he's not allowed to carry money to keep him from buying alcohol, she has to give him a few coins. Miguel says she'll only be getting a small scoop, then. Rosaura tells Bruno that Gustavo has a copy of the contract and he knows that she helped keep AP in the dark about him not being dead. Bruno figures she's worried about damaging her image as the saintly aunt. Rosaura comes back to the idea of having him killed off, but Bruno says the timing is bad. If anything happens to him now, while he's Cinthia's boyfriend, Rogelio wouldn't stop until the killer was found.

Gustavo sees the men working down at the river and asks what's going on. One of the workers tries to say it's nothing, but Gustavo can tell they're building a dam. The guy says to take it up with his boss, who's standing riiiiight over there. Gustavo sees David and goes splashing across the river to confront him. David, rather stupidly in front of all these witnesses, says Gustavo's got to stop blaming him for everything and he's not going to ruin this business deal…David will make sure of that himself. David starts beating the crap out of him, or trying to. He doesn't get far before Vanessa shows up to berate him for it. She encourages Gustavo to go back to the house and let Ernesto check him out, then smacks David around a little, bitching that he's going to ruin everything. David just laughs. See what I mean? Team Evil will do itself in, without any outside help from Team Clueless.

Miguel shows Rogelio the desk he built. They talk about having Gustavo help them choose a good site for the school. Miguel tells Rogelio that he's going to build furniture to sell and Rogelio is cool with that. He's more concerned with Maripaz's party and asks Miguel to please not drink even a drop. Rosaura interrupts their conversation asking what's wrong, which pisses off Miguel. Rogelio asks where his coffee is. The coffee he has at this time every day, and for which he doesn't ever have to ask. Rosaura didn't know about the coffee. Rogelio suggests getting a list of…well, everything…from Maria. That doesn't go over well. Rogelio looks like he can't decide whether this amuses him or whether he just wants his damn coffee already!

Macaria and Ulises decorate for the party. Efrain is also helping with the decorating and tells Ulises to put on some music. Macaria falls off a chair and hurts herself. She ends up with Efrain holding her up and Ulises holding her hand to comfort her.

Rosaura brings in some presumably crappy coffee. Rogelio says it's fine, he'll just drink tea today. He sips at his watery coffee without making a face. Rosaura convinces Rogelio to get wood for Miguel. Wait, that didn't come out right. Oh well. She also tries to convince him to let her "administrate" the house, which she describes as bossing everyone around and spending all his money. Rogelio cracks up laughing at the idea that he would ever let Rosauara get her hands on his money.

While poor Margarito lies there in bed, Ana Paula whines to Dany about her love triangle. Nice priorities there. She raises the possibility of being pregnant. She thinks it's highly probable.

Vanessa gets Gustavo back to the house. She wants to get Cinthia, but Gustavo refuses. Well, since he can't outrun her, she gets to have her say. Gustavo calls Esteban and rats out David. Esteban says what David is doing is a crime. Although, he's not thrilled about helping out the man who "stole" Vanessa from him.

Dany and AP reminisce about their days back in nursing school. AP thinks a baby is always a blessing. They're unsure how Rogelio will react.

Esteban is surprised that everyone in this telenovela is connected to everyone else in a giant knot comprised of a hideous mix of coincidence and bad decision-making. He'll definitely do something about David, though, because the law is the law, damnit! He's going right down there to San Gabriel, cause the awkward house party of awkwardness just won't be complete until everyone who could potentially make anyone else's life uncomfortable is hanging around at the hacienda, drinking Rogelio's tequila and putting their muddy boots up on his coffee table.

More pregnancy talk. AP needs to pee on a stick. Not that she knows where to get a stick. She's not going to get it at Ulises' shop.

Cinthia makes out with Efrain. They're interrupted by Vanessa, saying that Gustavo got a beating. "He found out what David's doing and they got into a fight." Cinthia sends Vanessa to go get Ernesto and she'll be right behind her. Vanessa leaves and Cinthia insists to Efrain that she has to keep Gustavo on a string and convince him to marry her so she can get her inheritance and then once she does, she and Efrain can be together. And also, she's come into possession of a very nice bridge that he'd perhaps be interested in.
Rosaura shows off her groceries. Maria doesn't think it looks like much. Apparently some of it is a new eyeshadow palette. Rosaura bought mostly beef and tomatoes. The two things the hacienda already produces plenty of. Ooh, burn!

Rogelio writes Miguel a check for the wood. He insists he wants to take it out of the money that Rogelio is paying his aunt. Rogelio is stunned that Miguel would turn down a blank check, but Miguel wants to be more responsible. Rogelio is glad he thinks that way. Miguel doesn't want to be a burden. He wants AP to make her own decisions without worrying about what's going to happen to him. Rogelio asks if Miguel thinks that AP would have left already if Miguel weren't there. Miguel says AP isn't doing well and he's worried about her.

Cinthia fusses over Gustavo, who's busy grunting and breathing loudly.

Chio goes to Esteban's office. He hopes she's not still angry. Chio says she's only there to say goodbye. She's going on a shopping expedition for her store. "I thought you might try to stop me. Might ask me to stay with you, or tell me you want to travel with me. But I guess not. It's a shame you're rejecting my love since it's real!"

Ulises and Macaria review the party menu. Dany asks to speak with Macaria alone. She asks for a pregnancy test, but says it's not for her. So of course, Macaria thinks it IS for Dany. She swears she'll keep her mouth shut…ha!...and packs up the test. Ulises asks what she needed…"A pregnancy test!" Way to keep your mouth shut, Macaria! Ulises assumes it's Miguel's baby.

David whines about how Gustavo isn't going to screw this up for him. Vanessa tells him to calm down. She says they can't let Rogelio suspect that she's on his side. Cinthia comes in to yell at David.

Ernesto tells AP he can't tell her what's going to happen with Margarito, they have to wait. Gustavo comes shambling in and gets yelled at by Ernesto that he should be resting. AP jumps to the conclusion that Rogelio had Gustavo beaten, but he insists Rogelio had nothing to do with it. AP then commences to have a nervous breakdown in the hallway, crying and moaning that she just can't take it anymore. And here I thought I was the expert and making everything all about me. I relinquish my crown. She ends up sobbing in Gustavo's arms, asking who beat him.

Cinthia and David keep fighting until Vanessa breaks it up. She says they have to figure out how to keep Gustavo from telling Rogelio about the river. David is pissed that the two of them want to keep looking innocent to Rogelio, so he's getting all the blame for everything, even though there are four of them making the decisions. "If I get turned in for this, I'm not going down alone!"

The guys walk AP to someone's room, where she lies down on the bed. Gustavo wants to know why she suspected Rogelio, but Ernesto tells him to back the hell off and go bring his med kit. Once he leaves Ernesto says she can't go on like this, being concerned for everyone else but herself. He also tells her that Rogelio had jack to do with the beating, it was actually David. He warns her that if she doesn't get some rest he's going to end up having to put her in the hospital. AP whines and cries about not wanting to take any pills and just needing some sleep. This is apparently Miguel's room, which I didn't recognize, and Ernesto wanted her brought there so she could rest without being bothered. Gustavo comes back with the bag and Ernesto says he's going to give her a sedative.

Maripaz's party arrives. Ulises has noticed how much hotter Macaria is since she came back from Mexico.

Cinthia brings Gustavo a glass of water and a pill for his pain. She says she's pissed about the beating and so is Rogelio. "Oh, I had to tell him. You're looking out for our interests. And my brother always wants to know everything that's going on." She begs him to let her spoil him.

Dany brings the pregnancy test to AP. Rosaura overhears and slaps AP for being stupid enough to get pregnant. Thus endeth our tale for today.

Tomorrow: tense moments, AP confronts the truth, Rogelio goes after Gustavo with the whip.

Una Familia Con Suerte #185-186 Thu 3/29/12 Pina’s power trip hits turbulence.

Back in the conference room, Raymundo says it’s business as usual if Vice just drops the case against Pancho. No deal. Everyone except Team Vice, Arnoldo, Pina (aka Team VAPid) is really annoyed. Pina is prez. Back in Pina’s office, Team VAPid tries to celebrate their victory by removing the neck accessory and toasting with champagne, but Candy drops in. Pina imperiously bans her from the building, but Arnold Flowerz gets a good look at her heinie on her way out. Later, Arnoldo takes Candy out to dinner and confesses that he isn’t really gay. She’s flattered that he’s attracted to her. She must not know that at this point he’s basically panting after shapely rocks and trees.
Pancho holds a press conference to announce Pina is taking over as president. He claims he’s just taking a leave of absence to enact all the wedding ideas he’s got saved up on Pinterest. He praises Pina’s mad biz skillz up and down, mostly up to keep the stock price from going down.
Doc Oc has taken to his bed. He refuses to tell people he has Alzheimer’s, because he doesn’t need their pity. He can throw his own pity party all by himself. He refuses to even go to Casa Lopez anymore. Fernando thinks he could still work and everything if he had an assistant, but he refuses. While Fernanda is fixing him a meal tray, Doc Oc goes walkabout. He leaves a note saying he doesn’t want to hurt her, so buh-bye and leave me alone. That makes no sense but he has Alzheimer’s so perhaps I’ll give him a pass. He drives away out into the boonies but has to pull over to cry. {Side note. What led to my own dear grandmother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis was that she was driving and turned left into traffic because she just forgot not to. Should Oc really be driving?}
Pepe and Tomás meet El Tanque’s family at the jail, where he’s finally being released. The happy reunited family is so heartwarming, Pepe and Tomás walk off arm-in-arm.
In the evening, Tomás makes a fancy romantic dinner for Lupita in the garden of the new guardería/residence. He offers help with field trips because he LOVES kids, hint hint. He’d like to have 5 but readily agrees that Lupita’s desire for 2 is sensible. Lupita suddenly starts singing right in his face. They decide to be novios again.
Freddy decides to stop dropping in on Ana and let her focus on the tour. Compared to the shenanigans many musicians get up to on tour, a low-key novio who shows up for a few smooches and te amos seems like no big deal and really more likely to prevent distractions, but what do I know?
Frida pouts until Pepe agrees to go dancing with her. She claims she hasn’t dance since a friend’s quinceañera but she doesn’t seem to have lost much skill in that time. They’re so captivating on the dance floor that everyone in the club gathers to watch.
Meanwhile, in a far hotter club aka Enzo’s apartment, Enzo makes Chela close her eyes while he gets ready. When she opens them, he’s all in black leather and sunglasses, which he proceeds to remove with a lot of shimmying. Chela loves it but looks like she’s struggling not to laugh. I’m not sure how much of that is acting. After the show, Enzo says he learned this from a video. Chela says it was great but admits she has no basis for comparison. And then they get to the (horizontal) encore performance.
In the morning, Pepe is very tired and possibly hungover. Chela shows up to whip the household into shape and she asks him what he wants for brekky. “Whatever,” he says. Chela says they’re fresh out of it. Pepe claims he was out with Tomás the night before, but Lupita knows that is a lie and figures it was Frida. Everyone yells at Pepe.
Pina goes to the Avon plant and insults everyone while swanning about imperiously. Back in the office, Rebe dumps a HUGE stack of files in front of Pina, all urgent issues she must deal with. The top of the list is the financial report, which is legal and required and must be exactly right. Pina thinks dealing with all this hassle is beneath her. She freaks out and calls Vice, desperate for help.
Freddy, back at home, tells his dud dad he isn’t tagging along on Ana’s tour anymore. Vice goes on about getting him together with ol’ blue eyes and Freddy loses it. Key points: Freddy hates the way Pina is with Vice back, codependent again; he hates that Vice is siding with her against their own son just to get back into Pina’s good graces; Vice has NO leg to stand on, telling Freddy HE shouldn’t date a Lopez dame; and Vice and Pina never think about anyone but themselves.
Pepe confesses to Pancho that Frida kissed him and he didn’t hate it, but Pancho’s gotta go when Candy summons him down to the rally in front of the cathedral. Wow, who knew random business execs could have such a fan club with nothing better to do than campaign to get them a better wedding date? These people must really love Skin So Soft. Or maybe they’re just hoping for jobs.
Arnoldo tries to talk himself out of falling for Candy. Don’t worry, Arnie, I’m sure you’ll be over it as soon as any other random woman walks in front of you. Pina yells at him for no good reason. Pina really gets her high horse galloping when Rebe tries to deal with business. Pina will not speak to her or anyone without an appointment, she declares to Celeste. But as busy as she is presiding, she still makes time to insult Celeste.
Later, Pina yells at Celeste for following orders and not putting Meli’s grandparents through, because they didn’t have an appointment to call. Turns out they want Miniyuyis to live with them, which upsets Pina and gives Vice a fit of drama.
Pepe tells Lupita about inspecting Frida’s face valves. Lupita is incensed. Pepe moans that no matter how much money he earns, it will never be enough for Moany.
In Guanajuato, the band has been hired for a private concert. Pancho calls Ana and she is homesick and cries.
Elena meets a hippioso dredlocked dude named Orion who is collecting for a fund opposing global warming. He gets her to let him in to use the loo, which is perfectly safe because he is all about love and peace so clearly not a serial killer. They seem to hit it off, and he even gives her a quick smooch on his way out.
Enzo takes Chela home and carries her shopping bags for her. A rude guy in the parking lot eyes up the richie rich and gives him a hard time.
Fernanda tells Pancho about Doc Oc’s skeddadling. They try to figure out how to track him down.
Frida gives Pepe a keychain that looks just like Champi. He drops it as she hands it to him, and once again they are up close and personal and angsty. Pepe’s inner Pepe talk works and he backs away and tells Frida this has to stop. Silently, he is conflicted.
Temo shows Rebe his report card and they celebrate his improvement. Later Chela tries to help Temo with his homework, but he only has English, which he needs Rebe for. Chela seems kind of sad.
Elena tells Lupita about hippioso Orion. She liked him, but he isn’t the moneybags she dreams of. Elsewhere, Orion sighs over his dreamy Elena de Troya.
We get a PSA in gun safety, courtesy of Tom’s poli academy. I’d enjoy this more if it were taught by my favorite polis, Brandon and Oliver. Or perhaps Doctora Chelatina.
Pina is super snotty to Enzo and he tells her to get off her high horse. She threatens to fire him and he retorts that she’d have a great time doing the financial report without him. He graciously agrees to do it for her, but not to put up with her crap.
Candy agrees to meet with Vice. He seems to be expecting a happier reunion than she sounds like she’s offering. Vice gloats to Arnold Flowerz, who is disappointed at his treatment of Pina.
Lupita and Rebe look at wedding dresses. Hoping to wow us with their fresh originality, they favor dresses which are white, strapless, long, and full-skirted.

Abismo de pasión #14 3/29/12: Elisa gets some hope, Gabino cops a grope, Augusto’s still a dope.

From Marta’s Recap: “Elisa to dad - Why have you turned so indifferent with me since [mom] died? Why did you stop loving me? Why don’t you treat me as your little princess? Medusa comes back to finish her script… ‘why don’t you tell her the truth? Why don’t you tell her why you can’t love her anymore?’ / Tell me dad, why can’t you love me anymore?”

Tonight: Florencia Landucci calls Fina from Mexico City. Fina is unnaturally pleasant and insists that Flo call her Alfonsina, not Senora Alacrán, err, Arango, and to tutear her.  They’re both so darn excited about the upcoming boda! (Yuck my teeth hurt.) Flo’s looking for Damian who is not around. She wonders if he’s planning to come to the DF. Dunno, Fina will have him call when he gets home. Flo tells dad she didn’t get a hold of Damian but she spoke to mom who sends Papa Landucci many warm greetings, nudge nudge wink wink.

Carmeany is on the verge of telling her huge mentira to Elisa but Disgusto shuts her up, he is the only one who has the right to tell her! But does he? Nope, he just says Elisa reminds him too much of her mother. Wimp. Elisa doesn’t believe him. How could this cause his indifference toward her? She is his daughter! He rebuffs her and leaves her pitifully crying and calling for her papa. I hope he eats a hundred habaneros tonight and enjoys his morning tomorrow. Poor Elisa, she’s still a little girl at times.

Augusto and Carmeany have a fight about him not telling Elisa. Car says Elisa is a woman, not a little girl, she should hear the “truth”.  Augusto says he doesn’t know if Elisa has Rosendo’s blood, the only thing he knows is that he is a coward. (Damn straight estupido!!) He prefers to live in doubt even though this doubt is killing him slowly (for the past 15 years, a$$hat). He doesn’t want to lose Elisa like he lost Stef so he lives with the hope that she is his daughter. Dude, get a paternity test!! Carmeany continues her onslaught, Stef doesn’t look a bit like Augusto! He retorts neither does she look like Rosendo. Augusto tells Medusa that one word from her to Elisa and he will kick her out of the house. Why wait I say.

Back in the DF in a super luxe house some guy tells Flo he’s happy about her upcoming marriage because the Arangos are loaded. OMG, it’s Luigi Lombardi from La Fea!! Cool, I like Sergio Mayer, I wonder if he will be good or bad in this one? But I digress, he is Paolo Landucci, Flo’s uncle, and seems kinda slimy. Flo insists she is madly in love with Damian, money has nada to do it. He wonders about her hooking up with a millionaire who lives in the  middle of nowhere. No prob, she says, they won’t be living there, and no, they don’t intend to ask MamArango about it either. He asks for a loan. She doesn’t want to cough up money AGAIN but he manages to weasel some out of her for his very young date. Last time...promise. (NOT!)

Antonia tells Damian he’s changed a lot (which is why she can no longer tutear him). He used to be a simple kid but now he’s an elegant man. She mentions about mom sending him away to separate him from Elisa. He says he never forgot Elisa, there are things one can never forget, but he tried to stop thinking of her because it hurt less. “La niña Elisa,” he whispers, with a pensive smile on his face.

Night falls. Begoña and her little sprouts visit Fina at the big house. Begoña thinks Enrique should go upstairs and play with Damian. Enrique stalls (remember they never liked each other) but the moms push so...

Damian doesn’t recognize Ricky right off the bat and acknowledges they weren’t the greatest of friends, but the guys are civil. Ricky comments Elisa turned out to be a real knockout, too bad about her rotten reputation, eh? And she hangs out with Gael all the time who acts like he owns her. Damian suggest they’ve just been friends for a long time. “Where there’s smoke there’s fire*,” retorts Enrique.

Lolita finds Elisa crying outside. She thinks it’s because Damian didn’t recognize her but no, Elisa says she can’t stand living with dad and creepy crazy tia, she wants to get out of this place! Lolita asks why doesn’t she? When Elisa gets married she can start her own family. Elisa sadly states that’s never going to happen because nobody takes her seriously. What about Gael? asks Lolita. Aw, he’s my best friend, like my brother, insists Elisa. Lolita tells her she’s not sure Gael feels that way. Elisa moons about Damian and asks what would he see in a village girl (pueblerina) like her?  She tearfully admits he’s the handsomest guy she’s ever seen in her life.

Damian and Ricky go downstairs where Dam is the height of chivalry, re-meeting Begoña and telling her of course he remembers her, she is unforgettable. (Eh? He must have seen her beauty mask. That was pretty unforgettable.)  Ricky’s daughter Sabrina gets one look at Damian and jumps up to give him a welcome kiss before mama Begoña  reels her back in. Begoña  talks about Damian returning to work to head up La Anita which makes Fina a little touchy. She kicks out the visitors so she and Damian can “eat and catch up”. Dam wants to call Florencia and this is the second time that Fina pulls him away from returning her call. Mami dearest is kind of a control freak, no?

Back in the noise and lights of the DF, Flo gripes about not being able to get in touch with Damian. Pops says they probably don’t have good cell coverage there. Exactly, that’s why I called his mother’s house, she responds. Pops says well maybe he’s still out with his old pals having a good time. Precisely, Flo retorts, he’s out having a good time and not thinking about me, boo hoo. More conversation reveals that Pops was late for their dinner reservation because of a “little work problem” that he doesn’t want to discuss. Also, Tio Paolo cancelled on them and insists on acting like an adolescent with his constant flirtations.

Cut to Paolo in some hotel room with his current project, name of Kenia. He wants to get down to business but she’s not comfortable with his reputation as a womanizer. (Honey, you are naked and in bed and NOW you have this conversation with him?) She wants to make sure he’s not just playing with her. He promises to meet her mother next week, “but let’s just get the boinkage out of the way now, eh chiquita? “

Gael visits Elisa to make sure those street brats didn’t bother her any more. She says she’s used to defending herself after all these years. He says truthfully he’s come to talk to her about her dad...

Lolita and Antonia run into each other on the church steps where Antonia nastily asks if Lolita was praying for a husband, then she snipes that she hopes Lolita is enjoying her single life. Lolita coolly responds that if she wanted a good match she could have one, but luckily for Antonia she prefers to remain single for now. Antonia bitches about Lolita staying away from Braulio, HER husband and the father of HER son. Lolita calmly tells Tonia not to worry, she’s not like Tonia; she does not make a habit of stealing other women’s men.

While this is happening Braulio brings a report to Gabino in his office. Brau says it’s late and shouldn’t Gabino be heading home? Brau says Gab should have a woman at his side, someone to go home to. Gab the sadist invites Brau to take a seat and smarmily tells him he’s got plenty of women. Brau wonders where he’s hiding them. Gab says there is one in particular and he’s sure Brau knows her, but he won’t kiss and tell. Poor Braulio hasn’t a clue he’s the mouse in this big cat’s little game. Gab brags he’s got PLENTY of women, but there is one is particular that he’s on the point of getting, he has always liked her. Well good luck with that then, says Braulio good naturedly. Ouch, that scene hurt.

Carmeany puts her big bubbly pink poppers in Augusto’s face and tells him she wants to go dancing. “No money,” he grumbles. “Well then we can take a romantic walk through town,” she giggles insanely. “I’m tired,” he grumbles. “Well then let me dry hump you for fun!” Grumble grumble grumble. She says she’s never met a more boring man in her life. (Ding, ding, ding! Give the girl a gold star.) He always took Stef to cool places and bought her jewelry but he never touches or kisses Carmeany, only rejection. More of her usual griping, same old same old. She spitefully growls that he will always be the greatest love of her life. Egad these two are pathetic.

Begoña and the sprouts get home and brag to papa that they were just at Hacienda Arango to welcome Damian home. Doc gives his daughter a warm welcome and then sneers that Enrique and Dam were never friends, right?  So why the visit? Mom hems and haws and Dad just looks disgusted. Enrique, in a vain attempt to impress papa, proudly announces that tomorrow he starts his new job at the procesadora. “No me digas,” Doc suspiciously responds, “and how did you get that job?” Poor clueless Ricky thinks it was because of his education and resume. Dad snidely says he hopes Ricky works harder at this job than the others that didn’t work out for him in Guadalajara. And we have yet another dysfunctional family in La Ermita.

Over at the yerberia Ramona is in a rage because Paloma got a job with Doc Tovar. Paloma doesn’t understand why Ramona is so mad about this. Is it because she’s working for a medical doctor? Precisely, says Ramona, she doesn’t want Paloma picking up bad habits from that medicucho...plus she’s afraid that she (Ramona) will pale in comparison when Paloma sees what the doc can do.  Paloma says she’s very proud of her granny for everything she does and knows, and gives her a sweet hug. She loves her granny a lot. Ramona is surprised, “You never said that to me before.” “But I’m saying it now abuela, I love you mucho.”

Gael growls (maybe it’s just his voice) that Elisa’s father has problems. He (Gael) proposed improvements to the biz but Aug doesn’t want to hear it. Gael goes on to say he knows Ugh is sensitive about Stef’s land but it is Elisa’s land too, her inheritance, and Gael hates to see the land barren and unused. Ugh always says he won’t cultivate the land for monetary problems, but Gael doesn’t buy that excuse. Now Elisa is getting excited, she’ll investigate to see if she really does inherit the land. She runs off leaving Gael alone and wishing he could escort her home.

Gabino swaggers up the steps of Rancho Castañon and rings the bell. Carmeany rushes out, shocked at his boldness. They sneak away to hide and talk. Away from the house they whisper that they need to meet somewhere more private. Gabi clicks his tongue and suggests the little house they know so well. Oho, Elisa has returned home and hears their plans to meet early tomorrow morning. She runs up, missing the chance to ID Gabino, and asks who was Auntie talking to?  “What did you hear?” demands Tia. Elisa says nada and Tia says it was just about business and dad was already in bed. Elisa tells Tia that she knows she’s hiding something and she wants to know what it is. Tia’s big crazy eyes pop out bigger than her boobies and she demands solitude.

Over at Hacienda Haranguo Fina asks Damian how it went with his old pal Enrique, they were such good childhood friends. Not really, says Dam, mom knows his best friends were Gael and Elisa. Oh right, says Mom, and have you seen them? He says Elisa was the first person he saw when he got into town. He was struck by her beauty. “Have you talked to your girlfriend?” asks mom, changing the subject, “call her right away.”

Back in the DF Uncle Paolo has gotten his rocks off and is already back at the bar picking up two more hotties. Uh oh, big brother sees him and scolds him for leaving the office early. Again. Paolo excuses himself so he and big bro can talk. Guido tells lil bro that the business is having big problems and he needs Paolo’s help. Paolo points out he’s not good at business. Guido says when their parents died he promised to take care of Paolo as if he were his own son, but he’s tired of “keeping” Paolo and paying him a salary for not working. Basically Paolo is a parasite.

Paolo brings up Damian and notes that this rich kid will make a great marriage for his niece and could solve all their problems. Guido denies this motivation but Paolo says don’t act stupid, their future depends on the generosity of Guido’s old and dear friend, Alfonsina Arango. Oh I DO hope that Paolo gets to meet Alfonsina. That ought to roast his overactive habaneros.

Otra vez la burra al trigo**. Carmeany slinks into Grumpy’s office and tries to lure him to bed. They talk about the difficulty of selling his peppers to Santa Maria. She suggests maybe they can change clients. “Not that easy” he grumbles. She says the Arangos are very unfair for not buying his peppers. “Life takes many funny turns, (muchas vueltas) ” she says optimistically.

Elisa recalls and considers Gael’s words about replanting Stef’s lands. She remembers a happier time when she strolled the greenhouse with Stef and they proudly inspected their superior habaneros. Their habaneros aren’t just for salsa, mom says, they are used medicinally for curing infections, depression, stomach problems, a mountain of things. Stef hopes one day they can export their peppers all over the world. “Gael is right!!” exclaims Elisa with renewed hope. Shoot, that scene almost made me cry.

Next morning Antonia brings breakfast to Damian and is surprised that he doesn’t seem interested in the Procesadora.  She says all the habaneros are blooming and are beautiful. Why doesn’t he ask his old friend Gael to give him a tour? Gael is now working for Don Augusto and knows the area better than anyone. Damian says surely Gael won’t remember him. Antonia scoffs and mentions that Gael tried to call him when he was in Italy. Funny, says Damian, he never got any calls or letters from anyone. Not possible says Tonia, Gael wanted to call because he claimed Damian never answered any of their letters. However she couldn’t allow him to call from their house because Tonia was afraid Fina would fire her. “Where is my mother now?” demands Damian, with a look of growing awareness on his face.

Elisa goes down to breakfast and tells Lolita she couldn’t sleep all night. Last night by chance she found Carmeany with a man outside. She doesn’t know who the man was but it was weird because she heard them say they would rendezvous in a place they both knew very well. She understands that dad and Tia don’t get along, but it’s not right that Tia sneak out either. Elisa says she won’t say anything to dad because he won’t believe her anyway so she’s going to investigate things for herself.

Gael is in the habanero field when he sees Damian arrive with a smile on his face. Damian looks happy and hopeful, Gael not so much.

Avances: Confrontations! Rivalries! Damian and Gael confront each other. Then they shake hands. Are they going into battle or agreeing to renew their friendship?

Dichos of the Day:
*Cuando el río suena, agua lleva = where there’s smoke there’s fire (Lit. when the river is noisy, it’s because the water is flowing)
**Otra vez la burra al trigo - she’s doing the same old thing (Lit. once again the she-donkey goes for the wheat)

La Que No Podía Amar #66 Wednesday 3/28/12 “I’m Sooooo Confuuuuused!” says Ana Paula as She Comes to a Shocking Conclusion!

LQNPA 3-28-12, Cap 66 - “I’m Sooooo Confuuuuused!” says Ana Paula as She Comes to a Shocking Conclusion!

RECAP WRITTEN BY AUDREY (posted by Elvira, screencaps added by Elvira)

Repeat of the Tía-Guscake argument. Gustavo, armed with his architect’s rolls of paper declares that he would rather face Rogelio and tell him the truth even if Rogelio kills him. Tía points out the folly of expecting AP to be able to continue living if such a tragedy were provoked by Gustavo.

Margarito’s sickroom: As Mercedes gives him therapy, Margarito announces to Ernesto and Mersnotty that Ana Paula and Rogelio are adopting him. Dani arrives to learn how to give the therapy. Mersnotty can’t resist taking a dig at AP for not being available to learn the therapy herself as she always avoids the commitments she makes. Mersnotty leaves in a huff while the others wonder what she has stuck up her b*$%.

It rhymes with "switch" and starts with "B."

Ulises tienda: Now that Efraín is living with his cousin at the Rancho La Negra, Ulises wants to find out who bought those lands so he can do Rogelio the favor of delivering him the information he has been asking for. Ulises also asks Efraín to help out with taking his precious girls to Tuxtla. Macaria announces they’re having a goodbye party for Maripáz, and Efraín is invited.

Hacienda kitchen: Consuelo announces to all those lower ranks who hang out in the Hacienda del Fuerte kitchen, that the Ulises family is giving Maripaz a goodbye party and everyone is invited. Dani makes a point of asking Hugo to take her to the party in front of Miguel.

Dani asks the hunky Hugo to the party, in front of a bemused Miguel.

Hunky Hugo is most pleased to accept!

Streets of San Gabriel: Bruno is upset with Rutilio for not doing what he said (hanging out in San Gabriel?). Rutilio says he has to hang out near Bruno, because the police are looking for him and he can’t work. Bruno doesn’t think it’s the best moment to try to do in Gustavo, and Cinthia and Gustavo could recognize Rutilio. Rutulio says he can lay low and entertain himself in the meantime as he watches a woman’s behind pass by.

At the store Ulises and Maripaz have yet another conversation where he goes on about how hard it is to see her grow up and go out into that big bad world out there. He knows she’s a good girl, but be wary of the people out there. He gives her a piece of jewelry from her grandmother Maripaz that has her grandmother’s birthdate engraved on it and tells her to wear it the day of her fiesta. Lots of hugging ensues.

Alone in the kitchen, Consuelo asks Miguel doesn’t he think that’s kind of strange that Dani is going to the fiesta with Hugo. Miguel thinks that after treating Dani poorly he can’t tell her not to go out with someone else, he just wants Dani to be happy. Consuelo wants to pay for Miguel to make a hair comb as a gift for Maripaz. Miguel suggests they make it a gift from the two of them instead.

Outside the hacienda, Cinthia sees Efrain removing his things as instructed by Hugo. He tells Cinthia she needs to put on the pressure to get him his job back. Hurry up - he can’t wait much longer. He’s got that letter about Margarito, and he’ll use if he has to. Cinthia, like a fool, runs circles around Efraín around trying to “catch” that letter and hitting him with her fuete - lol! Nothing doing!

Making themselves conspicuous on the Hacienda lawn.

Miguel runs across Guscake at the hacienda, and asks him to leave so that Ana Paula does not suffer the anxiety of his presence. Guscake is not leaving! Guscake informs Miguel that he already asked AP to run away from the hacienda with him.

Miguel tries to get the Gustavito to leave, but to no avail.

Cinthia runs across Ana Paula and paints the sorry picture of poor Efraín being kicked out of the place he has lived all his life because of her misbehavior, but Rogelio won’t take him back no matter what she says. Ana Paula is only too happy to play the gracious lady of the house/sister-in-law and offers to talk with Rogelio about it. Cinthia mumbles her gratitude.

Ernesto chases after Mersnotty on the hacienda grounds. Why was she so hard on Dani - it turns out she’s a very good nurse. Well, she’s that girl Ana’s friend, that’s what’s wrong with her! says Mersnotty. Ernesto reminds her again what he has told her before - she shouldn’t get involved, but stay out of it and let them resolve their own issues. Mersnotty says “You don’t know what that woman is capable of, and I don’t want to keep arguing with you about her.” This makes Ernest walk away.

Mersnotty spies AP returning and hauls over there to beat up on her again. She reads her the riot act for having given Guscake the contract. AP did it so he could see her true situation. Mersnotty is upset - can’t AP see how unfair it is to make Guscake wait for something that might not happen the way he expects? This seems to give AP pause.

Poor (not!) Tía is in the kitchen banging around a locked cupboard! (In the meantime we get “food porn” which I am particularly fond of - gorgeously colorful peppers and onions and dark green leafy vegetables and herbs frame the camera view of Tia’s dress covered behind as she bends over to wrestle with the keys).

Hubba hubba - FOOD PORN!

“Oh no - it can’t be! Those damn keys!” Tía can’t open the cupboard. Consuelo comes in asking if dinner is going to be soon. “Get el patron the coffee he just asked for - hurry up and make it for him!” snaps Tía. Turns out María is standing in the background thoroughly enjoying the Tía theatrics. A guy arrives to deliver two live chickens hanging from his hands, which sends Tía in screams of horror. She doesn’t deal with live birds! Every helpful Consuelo says - “It’s easy. Just wring their necks and put them in boiling water before plucking them!” Tía is horrified - she can’t do that! María is really enjoying the show, she saunters in announcing that she only came in for a piece of fruit. “See ya later! I’m really hungry - hope dinner is soon!”

Take in the whole amusing picture here—gleeful employee holding up chickens, horrified Tía recoiling, and amused María looking on . . .

Mersnotty continues lecturing Ana Paula. In her situation, anything could happen! “What are you going to do with that child you’re adopting - leave him behind to go with my brother?” “Pleeeeeeease, I’m just soooooo confuuuuuuused!!” whines AP. “Well, while you are so confused, stay away from my brother! Otherwise I’m going to tell your husband that you used to date his lawyer!” threatens Mersnotty. “Now that I know you better, I’m sure you are just playing all three of them!” Mersnotty adds as she walks off. AP is totally floored by this one.

Laying it on the line with our confused Ana Paula.

Efraín is climbing down a cliff near the river with his primo (cousin). He sees David in the river below with some workmen moving around river rocks. His cousin says David is the new owner of La Negra. Efraín is pleased to get the scoop to barter with Don Rogelio. He tells his cousin this might solve all his problems with getting his job back. Is he sure David is the new owner? “Well he’s the one giving orders,” says his cousin. “He has people working here day and night. I’m not sure what they are in such a hurry to do here.”

Bruno is in the corrales with one can of clembuterol, furtively emptying it into the cattle feed trough. AP walks in and asks him what he is doing. Bruno hides the can and claims he was looking for AP! She was with Mercedes she answers. She must be all cut up over Gustavo going with Cinthia now! Bruno says, distracting her completely. He gives her all sorts of sympathy speeches as she starts to cry, giving him a great excuse to hold her close and and stroke her hair and tell her how much he misses her. He tells her the adoption thing is SO strange given the current circumstances. “Have you fallen in love with Rogelio?”

“I just don’t know!” AP cries. “I am sooooo confuuuuuused! I don’t know what to do with Gustavo or Rogelio. And just now Mercedes threatened to tell Rogelio about having seen us kissing!” “Don’t worry!” reassures Bruno. “If that happened, I would deny it!!!! Besides, I was the one kissing you, you didn’t return it. And back then you were going out with Gustavo, not Rogelio.” “Yes,” says AP as she finally recalls how things really were back then. “But I’m sooooo anxious!!! At any second this could all blow up, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I don’t rest, I don’t sleep, I’m not well!!!!” “I understand,” says Bruno sympathetically. “And it’s both their faults - they are both pressuring you! Not like me, who loves you, and lets you freely decide for yourself. It just makes me desperate not to be able to help you!” [Such slick words from that nasty snake Bruno.]

The slimy Bruno "comforts" Ana Paula with slick lies.

Dani is giving Margarito his painful therapy. Ernesto comes in and Dani apologizes for upsetting Mersnotty earlier. It’s not her fault says Ernesto. Ernesto tells Margarito about his daughter. Rogelio rolls in. Margarito shocks Rogelio by calling him papa! Rogelio tells Margarito he needs to wait until it’s official, but agrees that he can call him “Rogelio” without the “Don” in the meantime. Dani has to bathe Margarito much to his horror, and then they have to read eight pages from the horses book!

Shocked reaction to being called "Papa" for the first time.

Back in the corrales, Ana Paula apologizes to Bruno once again for not being able to return his feelings, so it’s best if she goes back to work learning about the livestock business. She’s going to continue her corrales inspection with the help of the workers. Bruno stops her - no in her condition she should return to the house immediately. Since AP insists, Bruno tells her he’ll teach her about the livestock business personally, but they need to go to a different section of the livestock pens as he butters her up and walks her away with his arm around her.

Ernesto pulls Rogelio away to express concern that there is not clinic nearby for Margarito’s continued treatment. Rogelio agrees and adds that it’s a real problem for all the hacienda workers. Tía comes in sighing, bringing Don Rogelio his coffee, explaining that with María being so old she can’t handle everything, so Tía is taking charge for now. “She told me something like that” agrees Rogelio, and he thinks it really good that Tía is willing to help instead of doing nothing all day. Tía just hopes it doesn’t make her ill - all that work - as she puts tons of sugar in the coffee. She’s so exhausted. Remember - she has a bad heart! “Well - we have a good doctor right here” announces Rogelio. “Why doesn’t he examine you?” to Tía’s horror. Oops! She put way too much sugar in his coffee. But he’ll leave so the doctor can examine her. No! Oooh! Tía has to dance pretty fast with a bunch of excuses to get out of that one, as she rushes from the room.

Tía's coffee is not prepared in a pleasing way.

Tia has to think fast to avoid a doctor's examination for her (imaginary) heart condition.

Vainessa is visiting in Cinthia’s bedroom. Cinthia boasts about how she got her “cuñada” to ask Rogelio to help get Efraín’s job back. “Oh she’s so dumb, she fell right into my trap!” boasts Cinthia. “Now she’s going to expect you to treat her better since she did you a favor” explains Vainessa. Cinthia boasts that’ll just give her more opportunity to manipulate AP, to Vainessa’s beaming approval.

Macaria is working on the party planning. The food list sounds good, but Ulises is moping around all sad-faced. “Hopefully he’ll get over it” says Maripaz. “And tequila!” adds Macaria to the list. “What if Miguel comes?” asks Maripaz. “Hopefully that doesn’t ruin the party,” says Macaria.

Looks like Bruno is able to return to spread the clembuterol in the feed. It’s going to take a while to empty all those cans of clembuterol!!!!

Rogelio and Vainessa enter his study. “What can I do for you Vainessa.” She’s locking the doors to his study?!!! “I hope you’re not here to scold me about Margarito’s adoption, because surely Cinthia has spread the gossip!” “No, I’m clear that it’s none of my affair” says Vainessa. “The only thing I would say is think things through well, Rogelio. I just came to make sure that everything is good with the cattle we are sending to the US. We’re waiting for it at the slaughterhouse to pack it and ship it.” “Yes, everything is in order.” replies Rogelio. “This new business is also very important to me.” “Well, then just keep an eye on your wife.” croons Vainessa ascerbically “Hopefully she doesn’t go and stick her foot in it.” “Of course she won’t. She’s very intelligent, and even though she’s just starting, she won’t make any mistakes.” Rogelio say confidently. “Look, from the bottom of my heart I hope you two can learn to get along.” “We’ll see!” says Vainessa skeptically. “Other than your mother, she’s your only living relative,” points out Rogelio. “Look, I really doubt we can get along, but for you,” Vainessa seductively purrs at Rogelio, “I’m willing to make the best effort.” Rogelio doesn’t look so sure about that!

Vainessa in a meeting with Rogelio.

He's not buying into her B.S.

Margarito’s sickroom: Conversation with Margaro and María where María swears her undying love no matter how official familial relationships change. AP comes in to coo over Margaro. María pulls AP aside to worry over the AP’s faint the other day. AP says she’s just been feeling very anxious about everything. You need to take better care of yourself! scolds María, especially if it turns out you’re pregnant. AP is annoyed and tells María she’ll do a pregnancy test for María’s peace of mind, but she’s sure there’s no problem. María clarifies once again that for her, Rogelio and Cinthia come first, and she won’t let them be hurt, so take that test!!!!

Efraín bursts into Rogelio’s office, (through locked doors?) semi-restrained by Hugo. He swears undying fealty to Rogelio and then announces he found out who bought Rancho La Negra. Vainessa is shocked and she yells at him for interrupting the meeting while she looks panicked. “It was your ex-partner - Mr. David Romo!” Efraín announces.

Hugo has to restrain Efraín.

Rogelio at first assumes this is about Effer wanting his job back . . .

Rogelio is upset, not understanding why David would want those lands. But he sends Efraín to the kitchens - he’ll talk with him later. “You and David are partners now, Vainessa, do you know anything about this?” Vainessa denies knowing “anything” that guy said. “It seems so strange - David doesn’t like the country!” Vainessa says and she offers to investigate. Rogelio says he will do it. “I don’t like this at all!” Vainessa starts purring at him again, stroking his hand and talking about how she doesn’t want any misunderstandings between her and Rogelio now they are getting along so much better. Rogelio pulls away.

Ana Paula comes across Efraín waiting in the hallway. She tells him she is going to talk to Rogelio about returning his job because Cinthia asked her to. Efraín is all deferential and “gracias patrona” - he’ll go wait in the kitchen then.

Still in Rogelio’s office, Vainessa declares that she doesn’t understand all this fuss over lands he doesn’t even need. AP comes in, and Vainessa is all over her - too bad she came to late for their meeting. Vainessa makes a big deal of kissing Rogelio goodbye as he turns his face away, annoyed. Vainessa slinks out of the room, and Rogelio looks at AP with his hands raised helplessly. “Don’t even look at me like that!” says AP, “I prefer nothing be said.”

Recoiling from Vainessa's attempted kiss.

"Don't look at me like that!"

She is not amused.

Ana Paula apologizes for not making the meeting. Rogelio grabs her hand and says how delicious she smells as he starts madly kissing her hand. She need to talk to him about the Efraín situation. She asks him to reconsider his situation. Cinthia feels so bad about him losing his job. Rogelio still insists that Efraín should have hogtied her and dragged her back to the hacienda if that was necessary. “Think about it,” AP repeats. “Efraín is a good ranch manager that you need right now.” “I just HATE going back on any of my decisions concerning work matters” Rogelio winces, “but for only because you ask, I’ll do it this time.” More fervent hand kissing from Rogelio.

Sniffing her perfume. . .

Some of Rogelio's trademark hand-kissing. . .

. . . and dimples.

Efraín shows up in the kitchen. Consuelo wonders what he is doing there. ““Winking” me a “taco de ojo” (eye taco i.e. eye candy)” sleazes Efraín as he tells her how cute she looks. (Yep, that’s what he said!) Efraín is almost positive he’s going to get his job back. Tía Rosaura saunters in and flirts with Efraín to get the canned tomatoes down from the high shelf. She shows off the house keys. “Are you by any chance doing María’s job these days?” asks Efraín. “Yes”, declares Tía proudly, now she is the one in charge of the big house. Efraín is highly amused and gifts us with one of his trademark s---eating grins.

Sh*t-eating grin.

Dani and AP walk arm in arm outside the hacienda. “It must have cost Cinthia very dearly to ask that favor of you,” says Dani. “That he gave Efraín his job back because you asked shows how thoughtful he is of you.” “Yes”, says AP looking dreamy eyed, “When he wants to, he can be so very nice.” Dani goes on to remind AP how Rogelio will do anything to make her happy. “I know, I know”, says AP, “and each time I am even mooooore confuuuuused!” “And exactly what does that mean?” Dani inquires. “That these days I can’t think clearly.” answers AP. “In that case, Mercedes is right: anything could happen in these months you have left with Rogelio” observes Dani. “I know it’s very selfish of me to ask Gustavo to wait.” replies AP. “Choosing between the two would be a great conflict, no?” asks Dani. “Yes. Even though it’s difficult to believe,” says our bewildered one, “it seems I am in love with both of them!” Dani and AP gaze at each other.

Efraín enters through Cinthia’s bedroom window. Cinthia wants to be sure no-one saw him come in. Efraín’s delighted to have his right-hand-man job back. Cinthia smugly says - “see, I told you I’d get you your job back!” Efraín is delighted she worries over him, but he also did his part, he says as he told Rogelio who that David was the new owner of the La Negra ranch. Cinthia looks a bit shocked and concerned. “How did you know it was him?” she asks. “Because he is already fixing up the place, he bought it with all the livestock and everything, even the ranch hands are staying to work for him.” “Are you sure?” asks Cinthia, still seeming confused. “Why - you don’t like it?” asks Efrain. “Yes, I like it of course,” says Cinthia.

“That you recognize you feel something for Rogelio is a really good start” Dani tries to reassure AP. “I am more confuuuused than ever!” declares AP, “I don’t know what to dooooooo!” She just can’t bear to consider either option of fleeing with one or staying with the other. And at that moment Gus walks up looking hopeful!

The Gustavito approacheth . . .

. . . looking hopeful.

In her office, Vainessa lets David know that Rogelio now thinks he is the owner of La Negra, and it’s best for her that he keeps thinking that. David is moving ASAP on the water blocking plan. Vainessa has a really important business deal with Rogelio and the Americanos at the moment. Vainessa proudly crows to David how fabulous this whole deal shipping Rogelio’s beef to the Americans will be, she’s totally confident everything will go perfectly, and this will open many doors for much future business! David gives his trademark smirk.

Dani makes her excuses so Gus can talk with AP. Gus has it all figured out. He’s decided to wait for her however long is necessary, and he’ll leave the hacienda and cut ties with Rogelio and Cinthia. “I understand,” says AP. “Wait, please! It’s just that I have such uncertainty in my heart!” declares AP. “I have to be honest with you. I have doubts about what I feel for you and what I feel for Rogelio.” Gus is gobsmacked!

Gobsmacked Gus.

Gus is SO upset! He can’t accept this. “Yesterday you told me you love me! We kissed and I felt your love! And now you tell me you have doubts?” Gus just can’t believe it. “You can’t love Rogelio Montero! You love me!” as he grabs AP. “Are you afraid? Tell me the truth!” demands Gus. “I don’t know what’s happening to me!” declares AP “ I don’t know what I really feel! And that’s why I had to tell you, because I don’t know what could happen in the coming months.” “Of course, that’s why you decided to adopt the child!” cries Gustavo. “You have been deceiving me. It’s not just the contract that keeps your here, but what you feel for him” “You’ve disappointed me yet again, Ana!” croaks Gus “Why don’t you just kill me at once instead of little by little!” and he walks off in disgust.

She's so confuuuuused.
Making an emotional scene.

Tia Paula is collapsed exhausted on the sofa and won’t hear another word about fixing dinner. She tells Consuelo to fix whatever she can think of for dinner, but don’t you dare ask María about it. AP walks in sighing. Tía congratulates AP about signing the adoption papers which surprises AP. But then Tía starts in on how AP needs to be sure she gets it in writing that Rogelio is going to support the child. She should ask for life insurance! AP gets upset that Tía is once again so focused on what the child will get and what AP will get out of the deal. It makes Tía look like such an interesada!!!

It’s time for therapy in Rogelio’s bedroom. Rogelio doesn’t want to do therapy, because Ana Paula hasn’t been looking well. “What’s wrong,” asks Rogelio, “you look sad.” She’s upset about her aunt wanting things in writing - that’s the last thing she’s worried about at the moment! “Well then, tell me what you are thinking at the moment” asks Rogelio. “I’m thinking about you, that you are a good man, and that you love me, but that I...” “Yes, I know,” interrupts Rogelio, “you are in love with someone else, and that’s why you can’t get close to me”. He tells Ana Paula that sometimes he thinks he should let her go to see if she’ll truly be happy with her ex-novio, but he can’t because he has to get the best out of every moment he has her at his side. AP admits to Rogelio that she is confuuuuuused about her feelings and needs time to sort them out. This make Rogelio pause. “Does that mean you’re starting to love me - even if it’s only a little?” he asks. Ana Paula nods, which makes Rogelio smile and they hold hands. AP doesn’t want Rogelio to get his hopes up. “It doesn’t matter, whatever happens,” replies Rogelio “because for me this hope that you give me is everything. With this it is enough.”

Rogelio getting in a little bit of hand porn. . .

She listens to his sweet words . . .

As he looks at her with puppydog eyes . . .

Dicho of the day:

“Al ojo del amo engorda el caballo”, is what Efraín answered when Ulises asked him to see his wife and daughter safely to Tuxtla so Ulises could mind the store. “The horse fattens on his master’s eye” - i.e. the horse does best under the watchful eye of his master so don’t delegate critical tasks to subordinates. Methinks this master’s eye might be on the wrong horse in this case!!!!!!

AVANCES:

(It looks like Ana Paula and Rogelio are getting closer, but that Cinthia is getting suspicious . . .)

That's it, and remember, to thank AUDREY for the written recap!
