Juegos #44 part 1

Roberto brings Joachin onto his team so he is back on the force. Victoria isn't so lucky. She is working with Natalia and Manalo though, a pretty good consolation prize. Unofficially she is starting from scratch on Fabiola's disappearance since they are pretty sure Joachin sabotaged that search. She gives them the capital crecient notes, possibly the ones joachin gave Luci so they are incorrect.
* Ines visits Luis. He tells her Alex told him the truth. She threatens him that if they talk then it will be turned into Alex was at fault for taking drugs and distracting Adrian. Also somehow tying Grenas death to them as he was her supposed drug dealer.
* Memo is told by Francisco that he is going to be a tough taskmaster to him. Memo wants to prove himself worthy.
*Clara is getting suspicious after Daniel tells her he has been having flash to the night of the party. She recalls a scene with Fabiola and Memo.
* Ines visits Marian who has taken to her bed. She can't get the death of Grenas at the hand of her son out of her mind..
* Mateo visits Francisco. He thinks he deserves a bonus for keeping the facts from being told. 50 million should do it. Francisco writes his counter offer, muerte.... Francisco alludes to the fact Memo may not be his son.
* Adrian continues to be in anguish about his actions. Luci told him that Daniel is on the point of recalling what happened. He tells Alex, who in turn tells her father. Luis informs her of Ines threats. Enrique, confronting Adrian's meltdown suggests Elena will be there way out. He will get experts to say Daniel is confused. He has dirt on Omar too which should keep them all quiet.
*Quirino, Roberto, Manalo, Luci, Victoria and Natalia meet in their safe smokey bar to confab. Luci is in a tough position because she wants to help her brother.
* Meanwhile her brother and madrina are bashing her loyalty to the family to Enrique. Ines calls her the daughter of a thief so I guess she doesn't know the true story of the capital crecient case, or she has told the Lue so much she is convinced it is true. It appears Enrique was the one to insist on bringing her into the family when she was orphaned. It also seems they lost a daughter ( to death I assume). Did anyone get the same facts from this scene? Ines wishes Luci and Pato were not part of their family.
*Pato arrives at his parents house and has the maid announce him, which Enrique calls him on affectionately. This is your house. Pato has questions about Memo and the many hats he is now wearing in the family businesses.

 

Juegos # 44 part 2
Jose, the other candidate, is calling Leo. He wants something (dirt on Enrique) now. Leo recalls his night of passion with Ines. He took some videos of her as he spoke to her in his bed. I think he feels he needs to send them to Jose. Saved by the bell, Mariana crying and distraught is at his door.
* Enrique tells Pato Memo is loyal to the family and who better to teach him than his grandfather. The campaign needs loyal workers. Pato calls him out on all the lies, playing happy family to win the election. He is tired of all their lies. Ines comes down and she joins in the fight. She hopes Pato does leave. Enrique says he is going to fix everything.
" Back at the bar the 6 continue to strategize. Enrique calls Luci.
*Mariana tells Leo she needs respite from her crazy family. She tells him it's Enrique's fault. But she loves her son. Her head is spinning she needs to eat. First she. Needs a drink. Leo leaves his bedroom where the conversation has been going on, calls one of Jose's assistants. I have one of the sisters here. Send someone with a camera.
* Natalia, at the bar, had suggested that Victoria should forget her troubles with a couple of shots of tequila. Victoria apparently drank a whole bottle
Roberto and Natalia half carry her into his apartment. He is making Natalia stay to deal with drunk Victoria.
*Pato and Luci have been invited to breakfast at Enrique and Ines house. She comes out and is super sweet to Pato and Luci. All is forgiven. I was not myself because of ( Karina)... Adrian also is affectionate with Luci. Enrique also comes out and I all smiles because I es has forgiven him. Smooches. Pato and Luci look gobsmacked at their about face.

 

A.MAR Capítulo 1 Parte 1

They did a good job with the characters calling each other by name to identify who is who.

Two families:

There is Estrella Contreras Lara who is the daughter of Mercedes(akaMeche) She has two sisters: Brisa and Perla. Her father is Ulises. Her daughter is Azul. Erika is one of her old friends. Her mother-in-law is Gertrudis.

Then there is Fabián Bravo Jiménez who has a daughter Yazmín who lives with her maternal grandmother Gertrudis after the accidental death of Fabián's wife Laura. Erika is also Fabian's ex. Gonzalo is his father.

1. Estrella is a waitress at a seafood restaurant in Mexico City. She applied for the position of manager of that particular location and is told by the boss that in spite of the excellent job she did in training, the owner was giving the job to his niece. She looks at a photo of her daughter Azul and tells her that she will never give up.

2. Down at the seaside, we see Fabián the fisherman in action. Gabriel his, best friend and business partner, asks him what is wrong. Fabián says it has been five long years since he has been trying to get custody of his daughter Yazmín from her grandmother. Gabriel assures him he is a great father. Fabián will fight
to get his daughter back come hell or high water.

3. Yazmín, a young teen is distracted in the classroom and when reprimanded, leaves in a huff.

4. Meche is making a shellfish stew at her seaside home. She tells her daughters Brisa and Perla that their father says he has a big surprise for them.
She is preparing for the celebration along with Perla. "Lazy" Brisa is off to meet her novio Gabriel. Soon after, a depressed looking Perla is leaving, too. Meche encourages her to dress up a bit like she used to. Perla has to fix a freezer and she is running late. Meche tells her she can trust her. Perla says that she has learned that if something is broken, you can always fix it. She really is okay. Meche is all excited about Estrella's promotion.

5. Meche is all excited and tells a photo of Ulises that from today on, their lives are going to change.

6. Ulises meets with his friend Porfirio who supposedly has gotten him a loan approved by the union to rehab a piece of property on the beach. Porfirio 's nephew is going to rent him the property at a very good price. A very excited Ulises is planning on it being a restaurant that his daughter Estrella can manage and where his wife can cook and his other two daughters can wait tables. Rosalba shows up and the mood quickly changes when she informs Ulises that he fell in the trap that she and Porfirio set for him.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

7. Back in Mexico City, Estrella has to tell her daughter Azul that she didn't get the promotion but she did the best in the training course. She reminds her that the important thing is that you never give up. Azul shows her a drawing of her family. She has put Ulises in twice because her father is not with them and he is like her father. She wonders if her father will ever come looking for them. Estrella can only tell her she will always be there for her.

8. Ulises finds out via Rosalba that Porfirio conned him out of the loan. Ulises trusted him and signed away his house and his boats as collateral. His family will lose everything too. Porifirio also forged Fabián's signature (head of union?) so Ulises will look like a thief. Ulises cannot believe what they did to him and scuffles with Porfirio. Rosalba gets out a syringe and injections him in the neck. He soon is dead but not before we find out that once upon a time Porfirio left her for Meche and now it is Rosalba's pleasure to destroy his marriage and his perfect family. She hates Meche as much as she does him.

9. As she leaves, Meche is confronted by a neighborhood creep and as she flees, literally runs into Valentín who is concerned if she is okay. She says yes and hurries on her way. Pascual, another young guy, is also concerned for her.
They both wonder what happened that she is behaving so differently. Maybe she is in love; but with who?

10. Gabriel is reading a book with his son when Brisa comes by. She has brought the boy some candy but he is not impressed. He finally takes the candy and goes inside. She invites Gabriel to the family celebration. He cannot go because of his son Iker. Tomorrow is a school day. Iker comes first.

11. Rosalba and Porfirio move Ulises' corpse to a hotel. He assures her that his nephew who owns the hotel will help them out. The coroner will do what he wants. He thinks they will be home free now that Uises is dead. Rosalba is only interested in Meche thinking that Ulises had a heart attack while cheating on her. She unbuttons his shirt, takes off his shows and wipes off her fingerprints/puts his wedding ring on the night stand. She adds a lipstick kiss on his neck. She wants Meche to suffer the pain of the calvary!!!

12. Erika wants to talk to Fabián. He leaves saying they have nothing left to say to each other.

13. Fabián's father Gonzalo (Sergio Reynoso as a father again) tells him that he lost the custody case again in court. He adds that his daughter Yazmín told the judge that she wanted to continue to live with her grandmother and not with him. Fabián understands he still blames him for what happened as he sometimes cannot forgive himself. His father tries to convince him that yes! it was a tragedy but it was an accident and not Fabian's fault.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

14. FLASHBACK Fabián, Laura and Yazmín were happily driving at night on a highway. It seems that an oncoming car passing a truck surprised Fabián and he ran off the road to avoid a head on collision. He managed to rescue his daughter but his wife died when the car exploded.

15. A hysterical Fabián reminds his father that he was driving. His father tells him he did what he could at the time. He saved his daughter. Laura would be proud of him. God knows he did what he could.

16.In Nuevo Nayarit, (is this where we have always been?) Yazmín and her friend/dealer are at the port. He says it is their refuge far away from what hurts them. He brings out some drugs to help them not to feel anything even if it be for just a moment. He has speed to lift them up and benzos to bring them down. He gives her the drugs. He kisses her. He tells her that he won't accept cash from her. She agrees but tells him it has to be quick so she isn't late.

18. Meche and her daughters talk to Estrella on the phone. They want to know about her promotion and she wants to know what the surprise it. Meche says they do not have any idea. Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. It is the police to inform Meche that Ulises is dead.

19. Erika is still trying to talk to Fabián and finds him at the sea wall. He reminds her that she was the one who broke it off. She answers that she was trying to get him to respond to her but she made a mistake. He says she doesn't understand that they have different priorities. All he cares about is getting his daughter back. He is sorry. After he leaves, she swears that he will BE HERS!!!!
 

A.MAR Part 4

20. Yazmín is dancing around her room when her dad Fabián calls. She finally angrily answers the call. She asks him what he wants. He is only calling to tell her that he knows that she chose to live with her grandma and that he is not complaining about or blaming her for anything. He only wants her to know that he loves her and will always be there for her when ever she wants. His pain is also hers. She starts to cry and calls him a liar and a damn murderer. After the call, she finds her pills and takes a handful.

21. Ulises' family cannot believe he is dead. The policewoman says the cause of death seemed to be a sudden heart attack. Azul is crying because she just lost the only father she had left.

22. Sergio, a middle-aged business man, is in his office when he father comes to see him. He wants tot ask his father what his future is at the family company Grupo Alfa Pacífico. His father always wanted him to earn his place for his own good as well as that of the company. Sergio says that he has worked his way up as his father demanded for the last ten years. His father is ready to give him total control over the company if he meets his conditions: he needs to get married, create a home founded on love and respect and have a child. Sergio says he just proposed to Beatriz. His father is happy to hear that.

23. When Juana the maid expresses concerns over Yazmín not answering the door to her room, her grandmother Gertrudis unlocks the door to her room and finds her unconscious. She stops Juana from calling an ambulance. If this situation gets out, Fabián will be able to get the girl's custody from her. She tells her to call Dr. Canul.

24. Fabián meets Estrella and Azul on the beach. He has good memories of Ulises.

25. Dr. Canul tells Gertrudis that they saved Jazmín this time but that she needs hospitalization and psychiatric care and support. She tells him she is paying him a fortune and it isn't for his opinions, She will take care of Yazmín herself. She will not be dissuaded.

26. Everyone is at the wake except for Meche who found out how and where Ulises was found. He daughters refuse to believe it.

27. Meche is at home with a friend who tells her that Ulises was no cheat. Meche doesn't know what to believe.

28. Erika shows up at the wake. It turns out she is one of Estrella's friends from her home town. They haven't seen each other for a couple of years. One of Ulises' crew members has wonderful things to say about Ulises. Meche walks in and says she thought the same things about him for 35 years but then it all turned to ash. The man that they are praising cheated on her. She says no more because Estrella comes up to talk to her. Meche didn't know she was in town. She is so happy to see Estrella since she is the strength that they needed. She takes her mother to another area to tell her that her father never cheated on her all of those years. This must be a misunderstanding. Meche wants to believe that but the evidence is killing her. She tells Estrella how her father was found. Estrella cannot believe it. Meche can hardly breathe . It has broken her inside. She can only ask Ulises why? What did she do to him? How did she fail him? What did he need? She gave him everything. Aa she cries on the coffin, Fabián walks in with his father. His eyes and Estrella's eyes meet.

What an exciting first episode! A murder even! Even though this was just filmed, and was based on a 2021 Chilean novela, it has the feeling of a older novela to me. I think this could be the perfect summer novela for me at least.
Rosalba was the most bizarre character of the night!

I wonder how Sergio is going to fit in.

I will recap for the rest of this week but know that I will not be able to recap every night every week. It would be nice if we could get a recap/note writing team together. Otherwise, there will be nights where there will be no recaps or notes.

Well, the actor playing Ulises (my favorite silver fox ) didn't last very long...unless we see him in flash backs .

I haven't t seen Ana Martin (Meche)in quite a while.. I first saw her in the second novela I watched " Amor Real" as Fernando Colunga's devoted, long suffering mother.

Okay ....as the world spins and frets ....stay calm and put your flip flops ..I am looking forward to a summer staycation on my real patio with a glass of lemonade as I read the recaps on my tablet!! Susan

Jarifa, my thanks also. A lot of characters. I wish in the first few episodes they would use the core players and slowly add more so I can learn names slowly! Your recap helps immensely. A bunch of new actors for me again which I have discovered makes it less easy to follow. I forgot to add to my library ahead of time so I missed the first ten minutes. Your recap described it so well I feel I don't need to try and find it. I started watching just before the murder injection.

I thought the mark on Ulisis neck was a hickey and that the blonde had wiped the lipstick off and gave him a hickey, which in my pragmatic mind wondered was it possible with him being dead.

I imagine I'll be able to do a night or 2 after this week. I'm doing Juegos though, which is on at 10 so it will be hard to get both done well.

Even one night would be great.As for the “lipstick kiss”, I thought it was a hickey at first on Ulises’ neck, too, but then was wondering if you could give a hickey to a corpse. I froze the scene and decided it looked enough like a lipstick kiss not to get bogged down in reality. Too funny.

A murder AND tragic histories/events all converging at once! Love it. This looks really good.

Several characters are especially intriguing to me including Meche. "They both wonder what happened that she is behaving so differently. Maybe she is in love; but with who?" I hope it's Valentín (Ramsés Alemán is a favorite of mine).

Gertrudis (Eugenia Carduro) is just horrid I say gleefully.

David Zepeda (Fabian) and Gabriel (Pedro Morena sigh) are both very appealing. So many familiar faces...

Thanks Jarifa, great recap and I’m grateful for the rundown on the characters. I only recognized Estrella and Fabian but I’ve always liked both of them. I was surprised at a murder so soon, I was thinking this would be like a beach read! But I’m looking forward to the murder being solved eventually, and Fabian getting his daughter back. I think her grandmother has been filling her head with lies and obviously feels winning the daughter from Fabian is more important than the girl’s mental and physical health. The scenery is great, if I can’t get to the beach at least I can enjoy it every night.

Thanks Kat, I enjoyed your recap. A little scary that Memo is a loyal family member being schooled by grandpa. The way to create a monster.

Inez no longer has anything nice or decent about her. She was really hateful about Luciano being taken in my the family. I don’t think she knows the truth about the parents. I can’t wait till she finds out they were innocent and her father was behind it. I wonder how much she knows about her own father. I also thought it was awful that she told Luis how it would end up his daughter’s fault if he told the truth. She did say something about losing a daughter. I should have replayed it. I watched this morning but kept dozing off and replaying stuff, so I let that go.

Luciano now realized Adrian was the one driving. I felt bad for her. But later I had to laugh as Luciano and Pato’s faces when they were welcomed back into the family. I hope we hear the real reason for the change of heart. That loyalty to the family is a little scary, especially for Luciana. I wonder if they’re going to tell them the truth about the accident. They know that Luciana is pretty sure and I guess they, or Inez, suspect she’ll tell Pato.

So Leo, one of the good guys, will stoop pretty low to bring Enrique down. I was a bit surprised by the video. Inez seemed to be aware he was filming. She must trust him more than she should. But maybe Mariana will be the one to supply the dirt.

This show just gets better and better!

Liz. Thanks for commenting. I also laughed at Luci and Pato's shared looks at each other. I think Karina ( and Gaby ) was actually absent from this episode. When I think I feel a bit sorry for Enrique but then he pulls the, let's use Elena and Mateo to keep everything under control, I lose my sympathy for him. Now I feel slightly sorry for Mateo. Francisco sure dissed him big time as a son in law and provider. I don't know why Francisco he is so enamored of Enrique. Is it because he can manipulate him?

Refresh my memory. Is Enrique aware of the capital case cover up? I'm thinking yes as it seems he is included in the dealings with Bertha and keeping Fabiola from being found.

OT, how many of the new shows are you watching? I'm giving them all a shot, though I only discovered today that a new show, Velvet ,debuted last night on Telemundo. If no one keeps up with Karsu I discovered watching it a day later I can get English subtitles so I don't have to rely on help understanding things.

Kat, when Luciana went to him about help clearing her parents name he said he would, then went to Francisco for help and Francisco told him drop it, he was behind it. I think he also caused the accident that killed her parents. I think he would get rid of Luciana if he thought she’d cause trouble.

I’m watching the new one, A.Mar. I’m watching Karsu, but half heartedly. I find it depressing but maybe now that she’s found her son it will get better. If both boys were her son the woman that took him must have died suddenly. It didn’t seem that that much time had passed between the grandmother seeing the woman in the bus station and Karsu diving into the water. And what about the birthmark? Strange that his mom never mentioned it, only the grandmother. Hope the DNA wasn’t mixed up. But I do feel sorry for the man that thought he was the dad. The husband is a lying creep.

We are lucky to be getting some great novelas lately . I am going to watch " Velvet " and " Amar" . I record " Juegos" and watch whenever I can because it is on at 10pm. I have given up on " Karsu." Susan

Juegos # 45 part 1

Well that was a short lived peace in Enrique's family. Being proud of his two children, Luci and Pato and not mentioning his third child, Adrian gets Ines hackles up and she goes into Mama bear mode fighting with Enrique. Then she tells Adrian the reason she and Enrique have been at odds is because Karina is his lover ( well maybe this will make Adrian feel a little less guilty in tearing the family apart).
*Leo sent photos of him and drunk Mariana kissing in his doorway. Jose isn't impressed. This isn't dirt enough . Leo tells him Mariana is a drunk and surely more secrets will spill from her lips.
* In Adrian's room he is having a breakfast as usual. His mother gets his pills. Enrique comes in and Adrian's culpability in the accident is rehashed. He tells Enrique he thinks Luci has guessed the truth.
* Luis is selling the family car. Rebecca overhears. Why? To pay back the Ferrer's. She says but why? They aren't sunning us for the money and now Alex terminated her relationship with Daniel surely she will get back with Adrian. Luis tells her to sit down, he has a story to tell about the Ferrer's.
*Clara and Alex talk. Alex is mad she is making moves on her boyfriend. Clara reminds her she was the one who broke up with him. Alex insults her and Clara calls her an assassin. Daniel remembers. She is sure that Alex was with them at the accident. The 2vleft together. The story of the car robbery was given after the car was found. Clara is no dummy. She should study criminal just instead of architecture. She tells Alex she won't tell Dani, but stay away from him and her plans for him. Bye baby, she meets Dani and they hug enthusiastically to alex' dismay.
*Rebecca learns the truth. Not sure what she is thinking.
* Natalia Manalo and Victoria are at the location the last sighting of Fabiano. Looks like they will canvas the area since Joachin didn't.
*Joachin talks with Bertha. She wants him to report back what Roberto is doing. Also she wants him to work overtime and search for Fabiola to eliminate her.
* Francisco asks memo when did your mom get home last night. Memo has no idea she even went out. Francis6shows him the video of her and Leo.
* Leo is defending himself to Ines. Your sister came to see me totally inebriated wanting to talk to me. Ines is nervous. She is less worried when he says she talked about her son ( normally i would dislike a player like Leo, but the sisters are so awful I'm rooting for him to make them miserable,).
*Another powow at Enrique's headquarters over the video. Karina and German seems to be discussing something in the background. Memo comes in. Francisco isn't in his office he tells Enrique. He took a pill. Perhaps he went to see his Dr.
*Roberto has invited Joachin to lunch to discuss the CC case. He bought a lot of Chinese food. Luci appears as she is in Roberto's apartment.
 

Juegos #45 part 2
*Francisco is visiting Mariana. He tells her she has chosen the worst possible time to go back to her slutty ways. He smacks her. Have you forgotten fooling around with Enrique and getting pregnant by him ( I knew it). I guess she was supposed to abort him. Instead she tricked Mateo into marriage I guess. Francisco is not impressed with her bastard son. She says that son saved his real father's life
* Enrique I think stood up for Ines to German and Karina. Karina is suspicious.
*Francisco doesn't want any more scandal. Why are you fooling around with Ines campaign assistant. Mariana says you always stick up for your precious Ines. ( No wonder the two don't get along, always fighting for dad's attention and love). So Mariana cheated with Enrique while her sister was married to him.
*Karina isn't happy with Enrique. His jealousy of Leonardo is suspicious.
*Joachin's falling into Roberto and Luci's trap.
*Clara is flirting with Daniel. She gets a booty call from Mateo which she can't ignore.
*Ines visits Mariana at her house to earn her away from Leo. As she leaves Enrique calls her. She needs to fix the bad press between Leo and Mariana. Go see him.
* Omar and Susy are laughing outside the hostel. Elena sees them and is jealous. They say they are on their way to get some food. Come along. She refuses. Susy says she has turned into the wicked mother in law.
*Pato and German eat dinner together. Pato is dissallussioned about love after seeing his parents perfect marriage falling apart. German wishes he had someone in his life.
*Chofis is letting off steam about Luci and Roberto. She doesn't dislike the man, only his job. The couple stuck up for there love and Chofis I guess was pulling their legs, or testing their unity. She says give me a hug to the 2.
*Victoria, Natalia and Manalo are in the woods. Victoria separates from them., she doesn't want Natalia to go with her because she thinks she is bad luck. Manalo and Natalia start walking off trail down a hill and he falls and rolls to the bottom of the ravine. Natalia tells for Victoria who returns. Thankfully Manalo is ok at the bottom. A dirty hand reaches for his face and then holds his hand. Looks like Fabiola has been found ( how many episodes does the show have? Things are coming along in the case).
*Roberto Luci and Joachin are at an accounting firm. Ofelia is the daughter of the guy who did the bank audit. She tells them her father is dead. They did keep the records of the CC case though because of the circumstance. Ofelia tells Luci her father was a good man. They take the box and leave. Ofelia calls Bertha. They took the bait.
* Enrique wantseo to sign a statement that Mariana showed up
At his place to help with the campaign. He doesn't seem to want to sign it. Enrique says then you need to resign. Ines nixes that.
*Bad luck Natalia strikes again. She calls Luci, who foolishly has it on speakerphone. She says I've tried to call the fiscalia but he's not answering. We've found Fabiola. Joachin gets the news too.

 

A.MAR Capítulo 2 Parte 1

Correction from yesterday. It was Perla not Meche who Valentín was concerned about. It will take me a while to get used to who is who.

1. Gertrudis confronts Yazmín as soon as she wakes up and asks her how dare she make her suffer this way. She cannot take suffering again like she did when her daughter died. She tells the girl how selfish she is. There is no reaction.

2. Captain Porfirio Rojas is busy trying to get Rosalba on a bus and out of town. She regrets having listened to him when she would have much rather had been at UIises' wake so she could see Meche crying a sea of tears over her husband's infidelity. She revels in thinking how the girls will have to wear themselves out working just so they do not end up in the street. He reminds her that if she were to appear there somebody might connect them with Ulises' death. She wants to make sure she gets her full share of the money. He gives her an advance. She thinks it should be more and reminds him what she is capable of if he doesn't live up to his part of the deal. They air kiss and she is gone.

3. There is a funeral procession down the beach and Ulises is buried. Meche manages to throw in a handful of dirt. Fabián manages to t offer his condolences to Estrella. He offers his help if she needs anything. Erika watches them chat.

4. When Fabián leaves Erika says she had no idea that Estrella knew her novio. Estrella was not aware. She explains how she was on the beach crying when Fabián approached her to see if she was okay. Erika says that is "her" Fabián a gentleman with everyone! He is the man she always dreamed of.

5. Gonzalo remarks to Fabián that the Contreras women sure have their charms. They are like the sea air: refreshing! He saw him with the oldest of the sisters. Fabián explains that Estrella is going through a bad time and he wanted to help. Gonzalo expresses an interest in Meche. He wishes that his son could regain that spark of interest in a woman. He asks about Estrella. Fabián explains when he saw Estrella earlier, he could not take his eyes off of her and only wanted to take her in his arms to protect and console her. She has something special about her. Little does he know that Erika has overheard the whole conversation.

6. Back in Mexico City, Sergio is having supper with his novia Beatriz. As she talks, all he can do is think about what his father told him that he has to do to get control of the company. He interrupts her and says he wants her to marry him and for them to have a baby ASAP. He gives her a ring. She is surprised since he said he never believed in marriage. He says life is short. She will be the perfect mother for his children. She readily accepts.

7. Meche assures her daughters that they will get out of the mess they are in. Perla has concluded that Ulises never cared for them.Estrella disagrees. Meche agrees saying maybe he has another family out there.Meche says now there are only the five of them in this battle and they need to be moreu nited than ever.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

8. Captain Rojas tells Fabián that a couple of days ago, he gave Ulises one million pesos in cash which was the loan that Fabián had approved. Fabián says he didn't approve anything. The Captain shows him the documents he signed. Fabián says it is not his signature. The Captain thinks that Ulises shamelessly stole from them. He betrayed them as he betrayed his own wife. Fabián wants more proof. The Captain thinks they have enough and wants to take legal action against the Contreras family now. Fabián reminds him the family is already destroyed by Ulises' death. The Captain reminds him he is the head of the union and they need results and soon.

9. Laura sneaks in Yazmín's boyfriend/drug supplier to see her. She explains that her father called (she call him Fabián) and it upset her. She took the benzos because she didn't want to think any more. She woke up with an IV and her grandmother talking about her mother which she always hates. He warns her about the benzos because she could end up being hospitalized. He convinces her to sneak out with him for some pills and she does.

10. Erika begs Gonzalo to help her get back with Fabián. He talks about patience and giving his son space. Fabián comes in worried and confused about the million peso loan given to Ulises and his falsified signature. The Contreras just buried Ulises. How can he talk to them? Erika offers to talk to Estrella since they are friends, Fabián is reluctant but his father thinks it is a good idea. Fabián agrees and thanks her.

11. Sergio's novia Beatriz overhears Sergio discuss with Juanjo what he has to do to take over the company. Juanjo says he has no worries with Beatriz at his feet. She has spent years trying to get a leash on him. Sergio agrees and admits that he already has proposed to that stupid woman but there is a catch. If she doesn't get pregnant, there is no wedding and he will find somebody else. There are plenty of women out there. Beatriz comes in visibly upset.

12. The Contreras family argue about what to do with Ulises' belongings. Meche wants it all thrown out. Erika arrives to tell Estrella what is going on. Meche almost faints when she hears about the theft and the counterfeit signature. Erika says Fabián is ready to move them out of the house and confiscate their fishing boats.She tells Estrella that Fabián is furious. She didn't know what to do to calm him down. Estrella is upset and wants to talk to him .

13. Gertrudis finds that Yazmín is gone. She tells Juana that she must be found. Juana calls Fabián to let him know what happened. His daughter is not well and needs his help. She triedto commit suicide and she is now missing. She asks him to not tell Gertrudis that she called him.

14. Fabián rushes from his office and is met by a slap in the face delivered by Estrella asking him how could he think that her father was a thief? Erika "the skulker" watches from behind a building.

15. Meche sits with Perla wondering who she married. Perla wonders why men are like they are. She uses Azul's father and what he did to Estrella as an example. Of course, Azul has overheard and wants to know what her father did to her mother.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

16. Fabián asks Estrella to calm down explaining that he fully understands the situation: her family's great pain and her anger. That being said, he has documents where her father falsified his signature for a loan from the union. She insists it is not true. He tries to leave to find Yazmín but she blocks him. He tells her to talk to the Captain and then to her family to see if they can find the money. He runs down the beach. Erika runs after him.

17. Meche explains what Azul already knows: that her father left her mother before she was born.

18. Beatriz calls Sergio a miserable person. Now she knows where the sudden proposal came from. She regrets wasting five years with him dreaming of being Mrs. Falcón. Now he proposes only because his father wants a grand child so he can be the head of the company. Sergio is angry and says the company is an empire and he will not rest until he gets what is his due. He paid his dues working his way up from the bottom and now he doesn't care what he has to do to get what is his like giving his father a grandchild with her or any other woman. Beatriz says she is his novia not an incubator. He yanks the ring from her finger. He admits that she did spend years groveling and tells her it is her decision. A lot of women could give him the grandchild. She takes the ring back and puts it on. He makes nice and give her a quick kiss.

19. Rosalba calls Porfirio wondering where her money is. He better not be spending it. He has her money and is not sending it because he knows how quickly she could waste it all. By spending it , she could draw attention to what they did. He tells her to be patient. She is not happy. He hangs up when he hears knocking at the door. Estrella arrives demanding to know what is going on.

20. Erika and Fabiá are driving in his car. She says she never expected that Estrella would have slapped him like that. She adds that he doesn't know that Ulises once had a problem in town for not paying for a motor for a boat. Maybe he wasn't so honest. She makes it clear that she likes Estrella but she feels like something is fishy going on. Estrella didn't act surprised when she told her about the missing money. That makes her think that she knew something. Maybe the whole family was involved.

21. Porfirio shows Estrella the documents her father signed. She admits it is her father's signature. Porfirio says he gave him the money himself in cash. He never suspected that Fabian's signature was not his. Estrella says her father never told them he was getting a loan. Porfirio reminds her that now her family has to return all of the money or they will lose their house and boats. Ulises left all of their belongings as collateral. He adds that he would like to do something for her and her family but Fabián is the one who is pushing the issue not even caring that now they are alone. Estrella concludes Fabián is a miserable person. Porfirio says he is different. He could give them three months to liquidate the debt. He will get Fabián to accept the deal.
 

A.MAR Parte 4

22. Estrella and her sisters search all over the house for the money. Estrella wonders why her father wanted the money and what the surprise was nobody knows. Maybe the woman who was with him at the hotel would know about where the money is. Estrella thinks the money is gone for good.

23. Yazmín is with her novio Javier. She just wants to be far away from her father and everyone else. She has no idea how they are going to do it and doesn't care. He says he can use the credit card his father gave him for a hotel room for her tonight. She isn't happy when she finds out that he has no plans to leave his home to run away with her right now. He will buy more benzos via his father's prescription pad tomorrow. They kiss. Fabián and Erika arrive. He calls her name.

24. Meche spends time with Azul telling her about their family history in the house. Meche finally was able to stop paying rent and buy it. Her mother and aunts were born there and she became the grandmother of a very beautiful little girl: her. The house is her life. It contains all of her memories and if she has to leave there . . . Azul tells her not to be sad. Her mother will fix it all like she always does.

25. Fabián tries to express his concern for his daughter but she doesn't want to be bothered with him. She doesn't need or want him in her life. She turns to leave and he grabs her. Javier tells him to stop. Fabián tells him to keep out of it and he leaves. Fabián tells her how much he loves her but she doesn't care. She tells him that he left her abandoned at her grandmother's house after her mother died. He says that is not how things happened. He has never stopped trying to get her back. She calls him a liar. He killed her mother and abandoned them so he could get on with his own life. She also isn't happy to see Erika there. Is she going to replace her mother? She refuses to go with him. He reminds her she is a minor so he gets to make the decisions. Erika asks if he is going to take his daughter to his house.

26. Walking along the beach, Brisas tells Gabriel her memories of how she knew she was her father's favorite. She knows and swears that her father was a good man. What will happen to her and her family if they lose the house? How can she even rent a room when she doesn't know how to do anything? She doesn't want to be a fish cleaner like her mother. Gabriel says she can stay with him if they lose the house until things get settled. She likes the idea but knows that his son Iker doesn't like her. Gabriel assures her that Iker is a good kid and there would be no problems. They just need to give him time to get used to her being his partner.

27. Beatriz pays Sergio a visit in a skimpy little night gown to tell him that she is all in on his plan to get the child that he needs. She paid her doctor a visit and was told she is in perfect condition to get pregnant. She is ready to get started.

Thanks Jarifa. I noticed in the first episode al the funeral attendees wore white. Is that a thing in Mexico. Also it seemed really close to the ocean (Gulf) that he was buried. Seems like a big hurricane might wash those caskets out to sea!

I think the one daughter ( not Perla or Estrella) may have been abused by that lowlife she ran into on the street the first Day. Keeping it short glad I did my watching and recapping last night. My daughter lost her weather head, electric line and the transformer blew last night when a large branch fell on the power pole. My granddaughter keeps crying we need batteries to power the TV. I'll give her a bit of screentime on my phone....

Jarifa, I'm in awe that you identified all of the (many) characters right out of the gate, not only names but actions, thoughts and motivations. Your recap was excellent.

Rosalba certainly concocted a rather brilliant plan for immediate, total annihilation. Too bad she had to skedaddle and couldn't hang around to see all the suffering she caused. I am interested to see how she will be found out.

I had to smile at "Meche manages to throw in a handful of dirt".

It's fairly clear who is in the good vs. evil camps. Sergio hasn't the slightest hint of charm or warmth. Stone cold. Gertrudis with her hard, harsh makeup and ice cold demeanor needs a mustache to twirl ( Love Eugenia).

Fabian has a long, tough road ahead of him. I look forward to his journey.

I'm wondering why Iker doesn't like Brisa. Would he be resentful of anyone claiming Gabriel's time? Gabriel is a dream boat (me, showing my age) :)

Thanks Jarifa, I enjoyed your recap. I still don’t have everyone straight in my head but we can see how Erika is going to feed both Fabian and Estrella a bunch of lies to keep them separated.

Yazmin seems to have a drug problem, and the boyfriend is the perfect supplier. Good luck to Fabian. I can’t see Erika being a mother figure to her. I wonder if she’ll work with the grandmother to make sure father and daughter don’t reunite.

I recognized Sergio, he’s playing his usual type. I guess Beatrice wants him, no matter what.

Kat, I was wondering about the burial site, too. Seemed a little too close to the ocean for my taste. That was Perla with the personality change. I didn't get how Valentín thought she must be in love. She seemed scared like a victim of assault maybe sexual assault YES by the creep she ran into on the street. Nothing worse than a power outage. I had another one yesterday when the weather wasn't doing a thing.

Diana, I made my name chart yesterday afternoon so I do not make too many mistakes or waste time looking up names over and over again. "It's fairly clear who is in the good vs. evil camps"and I appreciate that. It is summer and I do not want to have to exert too much attention. As for Rosalba, "Too bad she had to skedaddle and couldn't hang around to see all the suffering she caused." Her character was almost comical. Love "skedaddle". I wonder if Porfirio will try to stiff her forcing her to return. I want to see more of her! They deleted a scene (they had to chop this down to 41-42 minutes. I think they ran the whole of episode 1 because there were barely any commercials) where Brisa tries to give Iker some candy. Very sullen, he refuses it but finally takes it at his father's request and then quickly leaves. He REALLY doesn't like her.

Liz, YES! Erika is sure turning out to be a snake in the grass. I couldn't believe her skulking in all of those scenes. "Good luck to Fabian." You can say that again. Erika is like a leech. He can't get rid of her. They deleted a scene (Uni has to delete a couple of minutes of scenes to get the show down to 41-42 minutes) where she chases him down the beach arguing and insisting on going with him to find his daughter. He finally agrees just to be able to leave to go find Yazmín. She was relentless.

I may be the only holdout here, but I still like this show. Yesterday, Karsu finally left her awful husband after catching him with her best friend. She broke a window where she caught them with a chair. She then took the three kids to Istanbul, eventually ending up with her aunt. I must admit I was glad to see Istanbul, having seen it in several dizis. It almost feels like home! The final scene was impactful when her mother showed up (the sisters live in the same compound) and sees Kuzey! Two sisters couldn’t be more different, but there is genuine affection. Can’t say the same about Karsu’s older daughter who is still very jealous of her newly found brother, Kuzey/Denis. The boy is still traumatized and misses his “father.” He may be in Istanbul. The new tenant still fascinates, and I hope we learn his story soon!

Babachita I'm one episode behind but the trailer showed the smashed sliding door scene and showing up in Istanbul. Hopefully we won't see much more of awful husband and backstabbing friend. I'll catch up when I can but since no one commented on it over the weekend I chose to skip last night and watch Velvet on Telemundo. Looks like that show may get a patio going which is half the fun of Telenovelas.

Thanks Kat, I really needed your recap. I don’t know if there was more conversation or what, but I feel like I understood very little today. I even played several scenes over and still didn’t get it.

I did understand the end! Who puts their phone on speaker to answer when you’re with a crooked cop. I wonder how they’ll fix that.

I also understood the important part of Mariana and Francisco’s conversation. You got that paternity right. This kind of makes Enrique a serial cheater. I wonder how that will be exposed to the wife and kids. I’m not sure if Memo knows but I don’t think he does.

I can see Omar and Susi together at the end of this show. They’ve always seemed to be a good fit for each other.

Dumb Luciana for answering her phone with speaker on. Who does that with people right there, some of whom are not trustworthy? As dumb as having private conversations with door open, a fave telenovela lazy trope.

Juegos #46 part 1
Enrique wants Leo to quit. Ines wants him to stay. She gets Francisco to see her side.
*Roberto, Joachin and Luci are all together in a squad car ( to keep Joaquin close). He has questions. What is Natalia doing looking for Fabiola. This could get us in trouble with internal affairs since it is no longer our jurisdiction. He pulls out his cell and texts Bertha, I assume.
*German let's Karina know what is going on with the Leo situation. Karina says can't Enrique force him out. German reminds her Enrique has lost his control over Ines actions since her affair. He says he seems jealous of Leo. Karina is not amused. He warns her this position in the campaign comes with great sacrifices and is not for the faint of heart.
* Enrique and Francisco are arguing about the amount of money the infiltrator is asking for from Bertha, they have to pay it. Memo comes up with some campaign suggestions. Francisco tells him we have much greater problems to deal with Fabiola has been found.
* Mateo goes to his car at the college. Some flyers with a longhorn cow and words I couldn't read on it. He looks at the video of his wife and Leo.
* Memo and Enrique square off about Fabiola.
* Fabiola runs off when Roberto and company arrive. Fortunately Roberto gets to her before Joachin. Unfortunately Fabiola appears to have lost her memory. She doesn't recognize her father. Joachin smiles....
* Susy is staying at the hostel. She wants to pay Chofis. She says it's already been paid by Elena, who is there at this discussion. Elena makes a snide remark she must be looking for Omar. Susy says in future she will pay it, don't make decisions behind my back. Elena and Susy argue about the baby. Elena keeps saying I just want to help with my baby. Susy corrects her, he's not your baby, he's mine. He is not Toby. Chofis sides with Susy. Susy tells Elena she wishes she were the kind and caring Elena of the past.
*Enrique wants Karina to coordinate whatever response Leo is giving. Karina calls him on his jealousy. He claims it's just because he knows the kind of guy Leo is. Karina goes to do his bidding but Ines refuses to have her involved, and go tell your boss. Leo intercedes saying in the interest of expediency she can stay. Ines relents, but it's only because Karina should earn her salary.
* Clara is declaring her love to Daniel who tells her slow down, it's not a good time for me. He reaches for her hand and she winces. He sees bruises and asks who did this. She says it's complicated. She is in a relationship with an older man who doesn't want her to end it with her. Daniel wants to help.her, let's report it.
*Mateo asks Mariana ( laying in bed with a headache) who is this guy. An old flame. And we've been together twice. You have your students, so there. Mateo is moving out.
 

Juegos # 46 part 2
Susy is at the store crying after her altercation with Elena. Omar comforts her. Give Elena time. Susy is off to see her baby Omar takes her. Elena is at a cafe across the street glaring at the two as he helps her into his truck.
*Fabiola is at the hospital. She is non reactive. Doesn't speak, etc. Luci tells the Dr examining her that she was held in dr.browns clinic and was drugged. Mateo says she has also been on antipsychotics. The Dr says Brown's clinic used banned drugs that produce the symptoms Fabiola has.
* Leo and Ines do a joint statement. He has known Mariana more than 20 years and he was helping her. But he is also resigning his job but wishes Enrique well. Enrique is pissed he didn't follow his script. Karina tells him the message was the same. You're just jealous that he is close to your wife. Take it up with her. He grabs her by the lapels; she is having none of that behavior from him.
Luci and Mateo tell the Dr that Fabiola's is danger because of information she has on the Ferrer car accident. They want him to stick to the story that Fabiola will never regain her memory for her safety ( there's another patient in the ER room, but he is bobbing his head in the background so hopefully he is a nut case. Luci once again blabs where she shouldn't.)
Ines and Francisco talk. He tells her first we have to win the election, then we can deal with personal relationships. She tells him she'll do as she is told, as always, but isn't happy with him.
* Joachin wants to talk with the Dr about Fabiola. He feels a personal connection to her after all the hours he spent searching for her. The Dr comes out and follows his script. She will never recover.
*Francisco brings a drink to Enrique. Let's toast. I've managed to contain Ines. Cheers.
*Leo's other boss, the other candidate who's name I've forgotten, feels this latest video works for the Ferrer campaign more than his. Leo says we need to spin how all the twists and turns of Enrique and family is tumultuous as opposed to his sane and calm demeanor.
*The other candidate has a special job for a guy named Edgar.
*The good 6 meet at the Smokey bar. They are putting two and two together. They haven't figured out the two cases are connected.
*Rebeca brings lines a check for their debt, Luis sold my car. I think Ines gives her the money back. They seemed to allude to things, especially Rebecca, about Alex and Adrian.
* Mateo has another booty call to Clara who wants it to be over . He threatens her if she leaves him. She in turn tells him she knows the truth about the accident.
*Elena is having a nervous breakdown assembling the crib.
* Gaby Karina and Roberto are walking to his apartment. He has a feeling as he unlocks the door for them. He goes out a back way and comes up behind Edgar, gets him in a chokehold and asks why are you following me.


 

A.MAR Capítulo 3 Parte 1

1. Fabián returns his daughter to her grandmother's house. Gertrudis accuses him of taking Yazmín. He denies that and says he found her walking along the esplanade. Although he would have liked to have kept her with him, he will not act outside the law. For the time being, she has custody. Before going to her room, Yazmín tells her father that she hates him. Gertrudis doesn't like the term "time being". She has custody of Yazmín and is not planning on giving it up. Fabián points out that his daughter tried to take her own life and ran away in her custody. She needs help and isn't going to get it at her house. Gertrudis makes it clear that his daughter will NEVER return to his custody. He informs her he has already contacted a lawyer and she could be facing a court order to return his daughter to him.

2 At the family home, Meche and her daughters are discussing what to do about the debt. She tells Brisa that even she will have to start working. Esstrella is the only one who is confident they can pay off the debt and has a plan.

3. The next day, Gabriel is out at sea when he sees a woman floating on her back. He dives in and rescues her.

4. Estrella and her family are making and selling ceviche at a "cevichòn" (ceviche fest) on the beach. Erika stops by to give her best friend some help by providing some speakers so the customers can have some music and eat more. Estrella thanks her. Even though her "Fabi" is to blame, she would never fail her. Estrella says that is why she loves her so much!! As Estrella goes on about what she would say to Fabián if he were there, he is there and asks her what would she say??? Erika smirks.

5. Gabriel gives the mystery woman CPR on his boat. She starts to cough and regains consciousness. She passes out again and he heads to shore.

6. Estrella says when she first met Fabián she thought he was a good person but you can't judge a book by its cover. He makes it clear that he doesn't enjoy putting her family through this but the money belongs to the fishermen's union.
As president it is his duty to get the money that was loaned to her father, who falsified his signature, back. She doesn't believe him. He resents being called a liar. He cannot believe that she thinks she is going to make enough money selling ceviche to repay the debt. She knows that but she won't just stand by doing nothing. She is looking at options like credit from the bank . . . She tells him about the offer that Porfirio made her. She assures him that he and the union will be paid. Erika smirks come more

7. Fabián tells the duplicitous Erika that he doesn''t think that Estrella or her family knew anything about Ulises defrauding the union. Erika says although she adores her best friend, she feels she is hiding something. Why else would they be selling ceviche? He answers that maybe they are just that desperate and are looking for anyway to make money. Fabián's lawyer thinks he has a good case to have the judge rule in his favor but unless Gertrudis' hatred can be mitigated, his daughter could end up being hurt even more by an endless war in the courts. As he shirks from her touch, Erika tells him that she will be there for him and whatever he needs as a good friend.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

8. Back at the cevichón, Estrella has talked to the bank and has bad news: they are not getting any line of credit. She tells her despondent mother that they will find their way out of this. Estrella tells them all she is up for the challenge and none of them is "manca" (one-armed). If they put their mind to it she is positive they can pay back the union. They are hard workers!

9. The fishermen come to give the Contreras family a contribution of 547 pesps in honor of Ulises to help with the debt. Estrella thanks them. The fishermen also tell the family that they are going to have to look for other work now that Ulises is dead. They have no captain. We can see the creepy guy standing behind Perla and her acting nervous. (I did a little research and found out his name is "Tiburón"SHARK!!) Tiburón says if that is the case he is an experienced fisherman and could take charge of the boats. A furious Perla turns on him and tells him he will NEVER be in charge of her father's boats. Estrella understands the fishermen's position and agrees to talk to them in a few days. She invites them all to have some ceviche.

10. Gabriel speeds to shore. Iker and everyone on the beach sees his father arrive with the unknown woman in his arms. Gabriel says he found her floating in the sea. They take her to the hospital. Iker proclaims his father a hero and Brisa proclaims herself the hero's novia. Brisa want to let the shipwrecked woman and get back to the cevichetón. Iker wonders if the woman is a mermaid. The doctor tells Gabriel that th woman is conscious and wants to talk to him. Brisa demands ot know why???The doctor says it must be because he rescued her.

11. Tiburón literally corners Perla and wonders about her not wanting to put in a good word about him to Estrella. He tells her she better make sure that he isn't cut out of the business because if she doesn't do it she knows what will happen. She tells him not to touch her and he is close enough to breath inot her face. She says she would rather tell them the truth about everything than see him in charge of her father's boats. He grabs her by her shoulder and tells her to shut up. He warns her about saying anything that might hurt him because if he loses his job, he swears he will cut her up into little pieces and throw them into the so his shark relatives can eat them. He asks if she heard what he said.
He leaves her in a panic.

12. Gabriel meets the woman he saved. He introduces himself to her. She cannot remember anything. He tells her to rest. She thanks him. The doctor says she cannot remember anything right now because of her injuries.

13. The Contreras family is looking at their earnings from the cevichón. Perla is clearly is upset and distracted as Meche asks her to do the math on the calculator. They made 5,200 pesos. Meche is distraught and asks why they are fooling themselves. They will never be able to get the amount of money they need together in three months. They need to accept the fact they are gong to lose it all.
 

A.Mar Parte 3

14. Estrella's boss from Mexico City calls with good and bad news.The good news is that the owner's niece couldn't make it as manager of the restaurant and now they are willing to giver Estrella a trial run as manager. He doesn't know if she will end up with the job but it is a good opportunity. The bad news is that he needs her there tomorrow or he will have to find somebody else.

15. Estrella takes Azul to the beach and tells her all about her father's fishing boats and her name being on one of them. She loved going out fishing with him. Azul asks why she quit. Estrella explains that she grew up and there are no "fisherwomen" in their town. Azul asks WHY?? Her mother explains that some men think that fishing is a profession just for them. Her daughter reminds her that she always tells her that she never has to let anyone tell her what she can't do. Estrella agrees. Meche arrives totalk to Estrella.

16. Iker is busy drawing a picture of his father rescuing "the mermaid". He wants his father to take him to bring it to the mystery woman at the hospital. His father thinks it is best not to disturb her. Iker disagrees and disappears when his father goes to make him some toast. His father soon discovers he and the drawing are missing and guesses where he went.

17. Meche tells Estrella that she is ready to throw in the towel. Estrella tries to talk her out of it but she can't. She wants Estrella to think of herself and Azul and go to take the job in Mexico City. She and her sisters will be just fine. She will keep selling fish. Brisa will get a job doing something . .. The house and the boats do not matter. She has Estrella. She tells her to smile.

18. A happy Iker arrives at the hospital drawing in hand. The mystery woman smiles when she sees him. He says he knows her because he saw his dad take her to the health center. His father is Gabriel and he is Iker. He explains the picture. His father is jumping in to save her, the mermaid, while he Iker cheers him on. She smiles. Iker says he knows her secret. Gabriel arrives and apologizes for his son's appearance. Iker was hoping the drawing would help her to remember something. He addresses her as "Mermaid". Shenthanks him. She likes the drawing a lot. Iker kisses her on the cheek. Gabriel apologizes. She tells him he las a lovely son and not to be too hard on him. She asks him to put the drawing where she can see it. Iker is just beaming. She looks sad when they leave.

19. In the hall, Gabriel tells Iker not to run away again. The doctor tells Gabriel that they do not know who the woman is despite involving the police. She is to be released today but has nowhere to go. Iker thinks she should stay with them. The doctor adds that she needs somebody to be with her since she is still disoriented at least for tonight or until a person known to her shows up. Iker again says she should stay with them. They cannot leave her alone.She needs them.

20. Estrella and Azul are ready to leave for Mexico City. She tells her mother and sisters she will see if her boss can get her sisters jobs as waitresses. She assures her mother everything will be fine. She tells her to drive carefully and blesses her. Azul kisses her goodbye. They will all see each other soon.

21.Brisas appears at Gabriel's house in tears worried that Estrella left and not knowing what is going to happen to them. He holds her and consoles her. The mystery woman is seated on the couch. Her sorrow turns to anger when she sees the mystery woman seated on the couch in his clothes. She demands to know what that shipwrecked woman is doing here in her novio's house. She has a jealous fit.
 

A.MAR Parte 4

22. Meche is turning over the fishing boats to Fabián. He asks her if she is sure about that. She answers that she has no other choice. She signs the documents. Suddenly Perla breaks out in a smile. She sees Estrella with Azul.Estrella explains to her mother that she has spent her whole life looking out for them and now it is their turn not to leave her alone and move their family forward. She won't allow her mother to turn over the house or the boats.
Nobody will take away her mother's inheritance. Fabián explains that he is only acting as the head of the union. Her mother already signed the documents liquidating the debt. Estrella asks to see to them, looks them over and rips them up. Everyone is shocked. Estrella reminds them that they haveTHREE months. She will pay the union every last peso. Fabián asks how?? She says with the same work her father did to support them his whole life: FISHING!!! Perla is surprised as well as Fabián who tells her that fishing is a difficult profession for . . .Estrella finishes his sentence: FOR a woman??? She says maybe there are no fisherwomen in this town but nowadays women can do what they set their minds to do. She is going to show him and the whole town that she can do what she sets her mind to do!!!

23. Brisas' jealous fit continues. Iker tells her not to shout. She is going to scare the mermaid. Gabriel finally gets her outside and tries to explain the woman's plight. He recognizes her jealousy and consoles her. He tells her she is the only girl for him.

24. Fabián says he has been a fisherman for years and has never seen a woman . . . Estrella says then she will be the first one he sees. She also makes it clear that what she does or doesn't do to get the money is HER business. Fabián wishes her good luck. She also hands over her car as a down payment on the debt. She won't be needing it because she isn't going anywhere. He will have it assessed and let her know its value.

25. Azul proclaims that her mother is the strongest mother in the world, the universe!!! Perla is not too sure about her decision. Her mother thinks it is crazy. Estrella explains that she is not going to let anyone take their inheritance away from them. Her mother says the fishermen here are barbarians. They won't let her do what she wants. Estrella knows it won't be easy but tells her to trust her that they can do it no matter what. Perla smiles. Meche shakes her head but ends up smiling, too.

Wow! Another episode I enjoyed. I do admit though that Brisas is getting on my nerves: lazy and jealous! At least we know the name of the creep and have a vague idea of what might have happened to Perla. More mañana.

Jarifa, I agree, another good episode. If all these shows remain good I'm going to have a hard time keeping up with them. I guess until she remembers her name, Iker's mermaid can be called Sirena. Gabriel definitely deserves someone better than jealous, lazy Brisa. He is way better looking than Fabian, lol. I told my husband, as he wandered into the kitchen past the sitting room that is my "space", that lately the galan's are not appealing to me at all. We joked that he beats them all in looks. He is aging like fine wine imo, so I agreed with him.

I wonder if Perla will head out to fish also or is her current job good enough. Tiburon is a fitting name for the creepy guy, though snake would be apt also.

I found it interesting the ceviche fest used real plates and not disposable. I looked up ceviche, but learned nothing except that I guess it is a type of fish. I also looked up manca and got handicapped and one armed as descriptions.

I dozed off for the last couple of scenes but you described them so well I don't feel I need to rewatch them.

Kat, this seems like it is going to be the perfect piece of fluff for the summer. I do not know how you keep up with so many novelas. I am watching this and am two episodes behind this week on Secretos. That is why I rarely comment.

Ceviche is a raw fish and shellfish dish where those proteins are “cooked” usually in lime juice and are mixed with onions, tomatoes and cilantro. That is the basic recipe. I would think they are using real plates because it is cheaper to wash them and re-use them than use disposables.

Guess it will be Estrella against Tiburón and a group of nasty fisherMEN tonight! Sounds like fun to me.

I'm admittedly a sucker for romance and loved Gabriel rescuing his mermaid, the boat speeding toward shore...I was sad Brisa turned out to be so selfish and jealous although I don't need to be Kreskin to see what will likely happen between Gabriel and his lovely rescue.

Could "Tiburón"SHARK!!)" be any more appropriate??

Thanks, Diana! This is turning out to be really a lot of fun to recap.
My first experience with “manco” was when I read Don Quijote and found out that its author Cervantes had lost use of his left hand due to a war injury. He got the nickname of “El manco de Lepanto”. Somehow that made an impression on me many moons ago.

I also loved the rescue of the “mermaid” from the sea and the boat racing to shore as well. Yes, it was so romantic and I agree that it looks like Brisas days are going to be numbered. Iker’s joyous response to her was such a breath of fresh air for that household. His drawing was the best with him cheering his dad on. The boy needs a mother.

“Estrella’s resolute determination to save the day is admirable.” Her family needs that. Her sisters need leadership and her mother is too worn out to provide it. I hope for some fishing scenes tonight.

Thanks, Jarifa, that was a great recap, and a great episode. I enjoyed the mermaid rescue and enjoyed how Iker just liked her right away. So he doesn’t like Brisas for a reason. I first thought maybe he didn’t want his dad to be interested in a woman at all. But Brisas was not at all impressive last night. Lazy and jealous. I wonder what her good qualities are. Will Estella have to save the family by herself. I hate that nobody suspects anything about Ulises’ death and the debt. They just are assuming the worst. Estella seems to be the only one questioning it. In a fishing village you’d think it would be really hard to cheat on your spouse. Someone would know! And a respected man suddenly forges a signature! Hopefully something will cause more people to doubt.

What a terrific recap, Jarifa! You got all the detail in there. This show is fun, but I do wish for a bit more subtlety, a bit of nuance. The cast is great, but I bet they wish their characters were a bit more complex.

Thanks once again Kat, an excellent recap. And another mystery. Who is Edgar following and why. I’m assuming it’s Karina since she’s the one who works for Enrique. But Roberto caught on quickly.

Joachim feels a personal connection to Fabiola! That’s a load of bull. Especially since his job was to kill her.

I agree with Susi, Elena used to be much nicer. I think she was dismantling the crib as last week it was all put together. I’m sure if Toby had lived she would still be nice, but right now she acts like the mother-in-law from hell. And she didn’t want Omar and now she’s jealous and spying on him. She also hasn’t been to the hospital to see the baby much.

I like “the good six”. They are clearly outnumbered. I think someone said it’s unlikely the two cases are connected when someone else wondered if they could be. Eventually they’ll realize Francisco is behind all this.

I don’t feel at all sorry for Clara. She went into the relationship with Mateo. And is not a good friend to Alex. But too many people know the truth about the accident. Everyone’s worried about Fabiola but I bet it gets out before she remembers.

Did anybody watch last night? Here in L.A. they cut to a newsbreak about the Israeli embassy folks getting shot and I missed a bit. Karsu’s mom got a call from a fellow who said he was in town and she said to come on over. After she hung up from him she called him a few names. That’s when they cut away! Who is that fellow?

I’m really enjoying this show – well-done, complex characters, interesting story, well-written. The cast is great. I particularly like the actress playing Karsu’s mom. What I can’t figure out is why Karsu married that guy, and why her friend would want to have an affair with him. He has no redeeming qualities, he’s an absolute jerk, plus he’s not even telenovela handsome.

Any bets on who Karsu will end up with? I’m hoping for the sweet stepdad, but the new renter looks like he might be a candidate.

Maggie, I only caught a bit of the show last night, then I tuned into Velvet on Telemundo. That show is shaping up nicely also. When I do watch it I'll try to fill you in. I'm about a day behind, which works for me because the subtitles are in English the next day and my misinterpreting is lessened, especially helpful when the show isn't recapped.. Whoever got me watching the last dizi, la Familia, that complained about the Spanish songs should watch this one. They play the Turkish songs.

Somebody would have seen something and told Meche long before now. I also agree that the same thing would be true of Ulises' character in reference to the forged signature. Poor Meche overcome in shock and grief over Ulises' sudden death probably is not thinking clearly. Great comment asking what Brisas' good points are. I still haven't seen any either.

Maggie, thanks. I understand what you are saying about the characters not being very complex, they aren't . For me, this is like that summer novel you take to the beach. : )
 

Karsu

Maggie, I saw the whole episode. Filiz was talking to Erhan who works for her. Apparently she had sent him to Adana to keep an eye on Karsu. To me, this shows that she has been worried about Karsu, even if K wouldn’t be in contact.

Previously, we saw that Filiz would dress up to the nines to go out in the evenings, and it turns out she was going to the bus station where she lost Kuzey. In one scene, she thinks she spotted him, and it looked to me like the same kid. But the “mother” gets away with him then. So, I’m liking Filiz, in spite of her over-the-top vanity.

Anyway, Erhan was lying to Filiz, telling her all was well in Adana and while he was really in Istanbul all along, just pretending to have gone to Adana. She let him tell her how all was well and told him to come by the next day for some money. He will get a big surprise when he finds Karsu and family in Istanbul!

After Filiz hung up she started calling him names and this made Deniz/Kuzey giggle. She repeated this several times, and it was so fun watching D/K laugh! He really responded to his funny grandma! It even made me giggle!

Also during the episode, Deniz/Kuzey gets to talk to his “father” Ozan and later the daughters get to talk to Reha. He is still a jerk talking with Karsu, telling her she can't live without him. The mysterious lodger is watching her during this conversation….

In Adana, Reha’s mother goes to girlfriend’s (Hande ) house to tell her off. Hande defends herself saying she loved Reha for a long time and Karsu was ignoring her husband. I sensed that the mother was starting to melt to Hande’s side.

Filiz tells Karsu she is “necia” and later wonders out loud where she got that from! We know!

Filiz warns K that Tilsim, older daughter, is really jealous of Deniz/Kuzey. Karsu acknowledges this.

K talks to cousin Ipek, daughter of Aunt Turkan, who also seems overly interested in Reha. Can this be??? He is such a jerk. But it later looks like Ipek was just verifying that Karsu was truly moving on. K and I appear to be good friends. But, Karsu’s friends aren’t always good ones.

Reha drives to Istanbul and shows up at Filiz’s place. This will be fun!

I wasn’t going to watch this but I am. Don’t have the names straight yet. When the sisters went to the neighbors house he was doing something upstairs and came down to answer the door. I just got suspicious of him then. This was probably a few episodes ago. But I don’t think he’s the nice guy they think he is. Of course I’ve been wrong before! I think she’ll end up with Dennis’ “dad” but I wasn’t going to watch this because Turkish novelas don’t always give you a good ending. I also didn’t want to watch because of the kidnapping. But since he’s been found I think it will be fun to watch him adjust to his new family. Did his older sister resent him when he was little? I know he was bratty to the baby.

Liz, I definitely think the lodger is dodgy. He pretends to use eyeglasses and often forgets them. I like all the books, but perhaps they are just for show.

The kids have lots of jealousy. Don’t know about the youngest, Selin, yet. But, Deniz/Kuzey was going to Istanbul with Filiz because he was so jealous of the new baby. And, Tilsim appears consumed with envy! I wonder if they will grow out of it. I was pleased to see D/K enjoying Filiz. Filiz is trying to help with Tilsim, but she really is an unhappy child.
