Duelo de Pasiones - Wed March 21 - Guns and Knives Everywhere

We open to Gaspar knocking Emilio off of his back and to Orlando’s gun being pointed straight at Gaspar. Orlando aims and fires. Emilio yells Don’t shoot Orlando! While Thelma yells Kill him! Kill Him! Emilio checks on Gaspar who is laying down with a gun shot to his abdomen, blood gushing out. Thelma runs over to Gaspar to do her part in finishing him off but Emilio shoves her out of the way. He screams at her to calm down. She continues to yell Kill Him! Don’t let him Live in between big gasps of air. Seems she has a hard time breathing after Gaspars love choke. The aunt and others come running down the stairs yelling what happened. Thelma wastes no time telling everyone that the Imbecile was trying to kill her! Everyone is upset and the scene is all confusion with the yelling. Gaspar is able to sneak out during the upheaval. He stumbles out of the room as Orlando watches. Thelma doesn’t want him to get away. She yells at Orlando that she “wants him dead!” Emilio worries that Gaspar will die. Orlando claims he didn’t shoot to kill Gaspar, just to hurt him. Emilio is frantic. Orlando tries another consolation tactic by telling Emilio not to worry, Gaspars mother knows how to heal. Emilio looks at Orlando like he is crazy and rushes out after Gaspar.

Alina runs through a field talking to herself how she has to let her mother know that Jose Gomez the crew chief is there.

Efigy warns Jose that the military is after him. He advises Jose to split but to wait until night to do so.

Emilio runs out into one of the side yards of the hacienda. He tells an unknown worker to make sure that Gaspar is not on the property. The worker runs off and so does Emilio. In some bushes right near where the men where talking Gaspar lies gasping for air and in pain. Castulo runs up to him and cradles his head in his arms. Gaspar calls Castulo his friend asking for help. Castulo tells Gaspar that he owes Gaspar one for saving his own life. He tells Gaspar he will help. He runs off for something telling Gaspar he will be right back.

Santos knocks and opens the door to Rositas house at the same time. He rushes inside smiling as he asks Rosita for forgiveness. Rosita reacts negatively. She yells at him asking what he is doing there. She tells him to go, leave her in peace. Santos is impactado. Rosita gets up from her seat and opens the front door. She stands by the door as she tells him repeatedly to leave. Santos quips how quickly love ends as he leaves through the door still impactado. Braulio comes home seconds later happily snickering that he saw Santos. He knew Santos still loves her. Rosita quickly tells her father that she asked Santos to leave. She told him she didn’t want (love) him anymore. Braulio is confused. Rosita flips the crazy switch and starts to scream she doesn’t want Santos to know what happened to her. She throws some seeds (coffee?) on the table as she gets up. She screams that she doesn’t want anyone to know!

Thelma screams at Emilio “Cant you see he was trying to kill me!” Emilio tells her to calm down he will work things out with Gaspar as he gets up to leave yet again. Thelma starts to cry that Everything and everyone is more important to Emilio than her! Orlando, who was standing near by, closes in on Thelma in an inquiring minds want to know kind of way. He tells her “how strange that Gaspar tried to kill you. Something must have happened. Now, Thelma, tell me the truth.”

Luba is outside in the forest standing by a tree praying to the Virgencita. She prays, hoping that nothing bad happens to Gaspar. As if in answer to her prayers Castulo drives up in a horse driven cart. Luba is surprised to see Castulo and questions why he is stopping. Castulo tells her to hold on as he jumps out of the drivers seat to go open the back to show the ailing Gaspar. Luba screams Mi hijo! My son! Over and over.

Adela explains to Soledad that Alvaro left Sergio in charge to watch over her. He is really doing his job and she can't help Soledad. It would mean trouble for everyone. To make Soledad feel better Adela tries to change the subject to something better. She mentions Jose came by. Soledad is impactada with the new information.

Alina makes it to Elias’ little cabin. She wants his help to get Soledad out of the hacienda so she can go talk with Jose. Elias grabs his jacket and they head out to get Soledad.

Orlando asks if Gaspar is the same retrasado (not nice word for mentally challenged) as the one in the Devils Cave? Thelma denies it and takes off upstairs. Orlando, left alone, talks to himself. He thinks it is all very weird. Why would Gaspar want to kill Thelma? Why is Thelma so afraid of Gaspar? Could Gaspar be the same as the guy in the Devils Cave? No No No that couldn’t be possible. I have to figure out what’s going on.

Soledad scolds Adela for not letting Jose in. Adela, ever full of excueses, tells her that Sergio wouldn’t let her. The women start to walk through the hallway towards the stairs discussing these points. How Jose is the only one who knows the truth! Blah Blah Blah. Soledad wants to go and talk with Jose. Adela advises her not to leave because el patron will get really upset. They have walked a few steps down the stairs when wham! Sergio and his gun pal Shotgun are staring straight at them. Sergio tells Soledad that if she takes one more step down he will kill her right there. He swears he will do it. Soledad and Adela are impactada.

Emilio and his military crew look over maps and discuss Where in the World is Jose Gomez? Emilio wants to head towards an area where there are a bunch of caves. He thinks Jose could be hiding in one of them. He warns the group that he wants to find Jose alive! Orlando looks off with a contemplative look.

Sergio yells at Soledad. He ends up shooting the gun near them at the wall. A chunk of the wall is seen blown off. Nora, Alina and Elias walk into the room of the hacienda right after the blast.

Luba assists Castulo in surgery. He is a skilled surgeon as he uses a large hunting knife to dig out the bullet from Gaspars chest. We are treated to a view of the surgery and see the blood and skin ooze away as the knife pares out the bullet. Castulo hands the bullet to Luba. Luba is a wreck, crying, worrying that she cant help her son. She is afraid. She wants to call the doctor. Castulo tells her that she can cure Gaspar with her herbs. Luba starts to break down some more when Gaspar wakes a slight bit and starts to talk. He rambles off things that are bothering him like how She didn’t lose it. She deceived me. She has my child in her belly. The Hada (fairy) has my child. She has my child. The fairy…. Castulo looks up in amazement.

Elias yells at Sergio to stop the insanity. Sergio tells him he is only following orders. Elias approaches him to get the gun out of his hands but Sergio whacks Elias in the face with the butt of his shotgun. Nora begs Sergio to put the gun down for her. Let the Senora talk to her daughter. Do it for her. Sergio agrees to let Alina talk to Soledad, but only for Nora.

In Veracruz the workers are striking. They have organized and have made a sign that reads Si nos dejan plantada, dejamos de plantar. If they stand us up, we will stop planting. Alvaro stands on a little podium and addresses the crowd with Hugo by his side. He tells them how he will be more attentive to their needs. The crowd cheers. Yea let the boss whip us! Yea! Alvaro finishes his speech and has a crazy spell. He thinks he sees Soledad and Jose in the crowd watching him arm and arm. He goes up to the woman he thinks is Soledad and turns her around. It's Alfonsia but he doesn’t recognize her. He comes back to his senses making an excuse of how he needs to get back to Sierra Escondida. Hugo and Alfonsia look at Alvaro strangely.

Luba has turned back into her tough self. She warns Castulo that Gaspar is saying silly things and for him not to belive it. Castulo tells her "of course he believes what Gaspar said. It explains many things. Caray! That Thelma is something serious. When did Gaspar make the kid with Thelma?" Luba snaps for Castulo not to repeat what he just said. She doesn’t want them shooting her son because of that woman! Castulo argues that he and Gaspar are even, they both saved each others lives. He would never hurt Gaspar. But Thelma! He He. That woman! Caray! Luba warns Castulo one more time to be careful or she will hurt him.

Granillo and Coral discuss how Emilio never comes to visit her anymore. She tells him she will leave. Granillo argues that she doesn’t have to leave because many people here love her.

Soledad and Alina talk over the Jose issue. Alina decides she will find Jose and ask him to wait for her father to return so they can talk.

Emilio and the army guys haven’t found Jose. They wonder if Jose knows they are looking for him and has hidden. They ride off to search more. Orlando stays behind to think to himself. Jose could set things right about Alina and her mother to Alvaro. Orlando cant let that happen. He will have to prevent the truth from coming out. He will have to kill Jose.

Castulo makes an unwelcome visit to Thelma in the house. He tells her its amazing the things we learn without wanting to. I know the kid you are expecting is not el patrons. Its Gaspars! Thelma is impactada.

Thelma yells at Castulo not to say silly things! They fight about what would happen if Castulo told people his new knowledge. She tells him its your word against mine! Sticks and stones may break my bones…. She threatens him to not say anything. He forcibly grabs her and makes her kiss him. The scene goes like this: he roughly kisses her, she slaps him, they stare each other down.

Elias and Alina leave the hacienda to go find out if Emilio has found Jose.

Jose, in his old clean house, prays to the Virgencita about how he wants to see his daughter again, that she get healthy, that she lives, that he will see her again.

Angel, clueless as always about what is going on around the hacienda etc, wants to know what is going on. Where has Emilio gone?

Jose looks out the window to see the army guys approaching.

Elias and Alina, on horseback, approach the little house where Jose resides.

Jose takes off on his pretty white horse. Elias and Alina watch from atop their horses as Jose splits with Emilio and the army gang racing behind him. Everyone is on horseback riding at top speed. The army guys yell We have him! Yea! Wait no! He knows this area! He’s going to escape! Get him!

There is a loud gunshot.

Marianita wakes startled calling out Papa! Mariana, by her side, is confused by why her daughter would be calling out for her father. The child falls back asleep.

Alina and Elias hear the gunshot. She tells Elias the importance of Jose staying alive. He’s the only ONE who knows the truth!

Jose falls off his horse into ….. Where else but …. .. the RIVER! He is swept away downstream. He floats on his back with his arms out very unlike what I think a man would look like if they had passed out from a gunshot wound and fell into the water but I digress. Photos of Mariana and Marianita float out of José’s jacket. The pictures float off and away downstream.

Elias and Alina wonder if Jose has been killed. Elias brings up the idea that they don’t know for sure this is Jose. Surely Jose or this guy they think is Jose left some identity papers back at the house. They need to make sure this is really Jose Gomez. They head off back towards the house where Jose used to live.

Emilio and the army gang ride up to where Jose fell into the water. They touch the mud and discuss how hurt Jose must be. Someone speaks to the danger of the rapidly moving water. That doesn’t matter, they have to save him!

Jose floats some more down the river.

Castulo tells Thelma that he wants other things. Lana (money) things. A lot of lana. Thelma is discouraged. She doesn’t have money to give him. C- The Patron does. T- I cant! C- Too bad. T - Let me see what I can do. C- I will wait for your answer Patrona. Castulo says this last line sarcastically. He then blows her a kiss with a loud ugly sound as he walks past her. Thelma cusses about having to deal with all these stupidities.

Luba feels Gaspars head. He has a fever. She worries he will die. She tells him he wont die even as she worries the very same thing. She cries, thinks of what he was like when he was younger, favorite foods…. She has a flashback to being in the hospital when he got hurt from his Lucha Libre days. She remembers the doctor telling her then that his life was in danger from so many blows to the head. The doctor had warned that he would have to fight (the illness) for his life. She returns to the present telling Gaspar that she will go get a doctor.

Jose lands on some rocks in the middle of the river right above a waterfall. The army guys argue about how to reach him. It is dangerous. Emilio of course will be the one to go in and get Jose. Orlando is given Emilio’s life line to hold while the rest of the army guys run downstream. Emilio jumps in the water and floats over to Jose. I swear it looked like he was crawling over to Jose but I digress again. Emilio calls out to Jose and shakes him. Orlando stands on shore cursing at the situation.

Elias and Alina go through all of José’s things looking for identification. Alina tells Elias there HAS to be something! Something with his name! Alina looks around as she spies a carving in the plaster wall. Its José’s name neatly carved into an otherwise perfect wall. This is something kids do. Teenagers. Not grown men on the run from the law. Alina swears to Elias that the carving was not there before when she stayed in the house! Here is their proof!

Mariana talks to herself outside in the hallway of the hospital about how she is there for her daughter for what every happens.

The Singing Aunt wants to know how Castulo could have found out the truth! What to do! Thelma tells her that her salvation would be if Gaspar died. Her eyes gleam as she says this again. Her salvation is Gaspars death!

Soledad and Adela talk about how only Jose knows the truth blah blah blah. Adela remembers that when Jose arrived he asked to see Mariana first. Adela told him that Mariana wasn’t there, she was off preparing for her wedding. Adela thinks out loud how weird Jose acted when he heard that…. Soledad, meanwhile, stopped listening when she heard Adela mention Mariana. She goes off on how she hoped that Mariana would help her. When was Mariana there?

Orlando, alone on the shore, struggling as he holds Emilio’s life line thinks how he doesn’t want to fall in the river because of this idiot. Emilio keeps calling to Orlando to pull them in but Orlando is having a hard time pulling the men in. He tells himself that he would gain nothing (Saving Jose and Emilio). He would lose Alina. Orlando hopes they will die as he takes out a knife and cuts the rope. Jose and Emilio are swept away.

The men go over the water fall but we don’t see that part. We do see Jose sink to the bottom of the river at the base of the waterfall. Emilio swims up Jose to rescue him. They float together down the river to where the rest of the army guy are waiting with a rope line across the river. Emilio grabs the rope and they are pulled in.

Orlando rides through a field and runs into Alina and Elias. He tells her if she is worried about Emilio to be prepared for the worst. Alina and Elias dismount to learn more about what Orlando is telling them. Orlando fills them in on Emilio’s escapades and Alina faints. Elias catches her before she hit’s the ground. Orlando tells Elias that he needs to see what’s going on with Emilio as he rides off in the same direction he came from.

Efigy tells Max and Angel about how he overheard the military guys plans to search for Jose. Efigy ends his gossip saying he knows the man they are searching for. Its Jose Gomez. Max abruptly stands up when he hears the name. Angel questions is this the father of Alina? Max send Efigy out as he begins to chuckle. Angel wants to know why Jose would return? Max quips that Jose has returned to find his lover, Soledad. Angel has a hard time understanding this. He asks if what Alvaro Montellano says is true? Max laughs some more and replies that he "only says what the whole world already knows. He he. What waits for that poor devil (Jose) when Alvaro finds out he is here! He he. I think he will cease to be in the world of the living!"

Elias carries Alina in to the hacienda. Rosita helps Elias put Alina on a bed. Elias leaves to go find out about Emilio. Alina, conscious now, asks Elias to tell her what has happened even if it is bad news. Rosita laments how Alina is always suffering for Emilio. It's their cross to bear as women….

Emilio and the army guys search through José’s pockets. They remark how he is loosing a lot of blood. Emilio tells the army guys to take Jose to the Rinconada to save him. One of the army guys pulls Arcadio’s license out of José’s pocket. Its Arcadios drivers license. They think this man is Arcadio instead of Jose. Emilio cusses that Jose gave them the slip.

The Good Doctor Vasquez lectures Luba. He tells her it looks like she already removed the bullet. Luba asks what bullet? The doctor snaps telling her not to lie to him. He knows that Gaspar is hurt from a gun shot wound. How did Gaspar get shot? Blah Blah. He has a fever. Blah Blah. Luba cries throughout this whole exchange. She especially cries when she hears the doctor tell her that Gaspar has to win this battle for life. Luba begs the doctor to save him. The doctor tells her, “Luba you know better than anyone how to save your son. Remember how you saved Emilio!” Luba cries and prays to the Virgencita. She brings the picture of the Virgencita over to the passed out Gaspar telling him that the Virgin will cure him.

Orlando tells Emilio how the rope broke and how happy he is to see Emilio is alive. Emilio admits that he owes his life to the other men. Had they not caught him he would have died. Emilio quickly turns his attention to the business of Jose. He sends the rest of the army guys out to find Jose telling them he has a special interest in Jose. He repeats that he wants Jose alive.

Max and Braulio walk out in one of the fields. Braulio whacks at some tall grass reeds with a machete as Max begins to say how sorry he is about what happened. Braulio whacks at the reeds telling Max he doesn’t know what he is talking about. Max says he would like to ask forgiveness from Braulio and Rosita for what he did the other night. Braulio snaps, quickly turning around to whack at Max with his machete. Max is quicker though and whips out a pistol and aims it right at Braulio’s head. Max tells him that it was he who raped Rosita. He knows that he said he didn’t do it, don’t get mad, but he will pay for his debt. He tells Braulio that he thinks it is best that he marry his daughter. What does Braulio think?…..

The Good Doctor runs into Santos on his way back to town. He tells Santos that Santos must be happy with the news. Santos is confused, what news. The Dr. tells him that he is going to be a father. Rosita is expecting a child. Santos is impactado.

"Hey dude, you with the huge machete, I raped your daughter. Sorry, OK? So now can I marry her?" What in the blazes was Don Max thinking? Was he trying to lose a few pounds quickly? Say his head for example?

Wow, are you ever right Lynn, this was a violent episode. I thought I was on the hospital channel during Gaspar's graphic bullet extraction. Castulo sure is a strong guy carrying Gaspar on his shoulder like that. El Intocable must weigh 200 lbs with all that muscle mass.

Shelley, I would like to think Castulo's not the rapist (agreed, why would he shoot Refugio? it doesn't connect), but he more or less admitted to himself that he did it in Tuesday's episode. I think. Also, thanks to YOU, I will never get Don Max as Insp. Clouseau out of my head. Ha, great analogy! When you said Gaspar might join the great Lucha Libres in the sky I put my fingers in my ears and sang LALALA really loudly so couldn't hear you!

Schoolmarm, it makes perfect sense that a bullet would to the chest would cure Gaspar's mental illness!

Susanlynn, have you noticed how whenever a studly dude is injured he gets to recuperate half naked and baring his manly chest? I'm thinking Alborada here. Speaking of which, a collective Waaaahhhh over Fernando not being in Pasiones (the pirate telenovela). I re-read the article and they call Rulli the galán, not the hero or protagonist, do you suppose there is still hope?

Outstanding recap Lynn! So much happened last night. Do you suppose they will inspect Orlando's rope and discover he cut it? Will Jose make it back in time to see his hija? Will Thelma get what she deserves? Will that wimp Santos accuse Rosita of being a qualquiera and go running home to mami? Will Gaspar's sheet slip down just a little more? (Where's Tonki when we need him?)

This novela always has a lot going on, not that it leads to much in plot advancement, so thanks to all the recappers for typing so much!

I have 3 questions - 1)Seems to me it was only a few novela days ago that Rosita was violated, but already the pregnancy test is postive....or is that normal? I'm not up on that stuff now. Or was it weeks ago?
2)There was a scene with her & boyfriend (forgot his name!) in bed awhile back. Could he be the baby's father?
3)Does anyone know when the novela ends here?

Orlando & Thelma are twisted - both are willing to kill in order to be with someone who doesn't love or want them. Why would Orlando think Alina will be his if Emilio's out of the picture? She's not a prize that goes to the runner if the winner is unable to fulfill his duties (as in he's dead).

I hope the Doctor left some antibiotics for Gaspar. Maybe he hasn't heard of them, stuck in Sierra E. as he is.

I'm enjoying the comments on this and apparently Duelo is drawing my eyes I actually saw a little more than the last time.

The only thing I can think of right now is, I loved the Where in the World is Jose Gomez? comment. LOL..

-Mari (wondering if she's the only that that remembers Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego)

Great job on this recap, Lynn as usual!

Sylvia, I think Max drew way too quickly to not be expecting a possible negative reaction from Braulio. Maybe he just figured that he could prevent that with the gun and use the fact that Braulio, no matter how angry is still a decent guy and not a guy likely to kill his boss.

Also, sorry to be the one to break it to you, but galan is usually what they call the main hunk nowadays. Cristina refered to Guy Ecker as the Galan on Heridas on her show. I still don't see what you guys do with Fernando C. Isn't he getting a little paunchy and long in the tooth? Granted, They keep trotting out Cesar Evora and Saul Lozano and pairing them with young cuties but still, give me Rulli or Christian de la Fuente any day! (I hope I haven't, torched off a flamewar here).

Anya, On Monday there was a "dias despues" sequence followed by many brief scenes of characters going about their daily business, changes in clothing, Thelma wearing looser clothing, highway construction going on...etc. I think more than a few days are supposed to have passed since Alina came to LR and Rosita was raped even before that. I'd say at least a month, maybe more.

You may be right that Rosita's baby is actually Santos.' I think that Santos had only left town about a week or maybe two? before the rape happened. Rosita wasn't expecting to get pregnant either time and has never been pregnant so maybe she just isn't thinking about that possibility.

That doctor is an interesting character. He seems to put a lot of stock in Luba's craft, even more than in modern medicine. You would think that he would see her as competition but instead he seems to respect traditional medicine. Very forward looking and openminded for being in such a backward and closeminded place. The one thing I would fault him on is doctor - patient confidentiality. If only Thelma or Mariana had intrusted her secret to him this novela would be over.

No Mari! Your not the only one remembering Where in the world is Carmen San Diego! Great program that was....

Max is straight out of a comic edition of How to be a bad guy. He is inappropriate and his actions are not well thought out! Hmmm Let me talk to a man weilding a machete. Not a smart move. But hey! He was prepared with his pistol. Maybe Max is in such a rush to bed Rosita beofre she starts showing that he figured he couldn't waste any more time. Best to ask for her hand as soon as possible. Why not in this field when her dad has a machete!

Also Margaret brought up some good points. I think Santos could be the real father. Then Santos and Rosita, SOledad and Jose can all take DNA tests together.

The doctor did say Gaspar needed some antibiotics so I think he is getting appropriate care. I like how the docotr is respectful of Luba. Curanderas play a big part in rurual and everyday life in Mexico.

Im really sad to learn that Castulo is the rapist. I like him being low on the moral scale but basically being an ok guy. I mean with those surgeon skills!

I dont want to see Gaspar meet the great Luch Libre fighters in the sky but wow! thats a funny comment.

I havent been around much lately but Oh my gosh! We recappers have been hit with some heady episodes! I was about to be late for work this am so I had to skip the vocabulary section. Well there are words sprinkled through out the recap. Best All!

OK Margaret, I'm lighting up my flame thrower right now! Paunchy???? Caray, caray! As of 2005 Fernando was totally ripped and sporting a six-pack on top of a six-pack. I haven't seen him since the Premios TV y Novelas (about a year ago?) but he was looking mighty fine. He's only three years older than Adela Noriega! Of course, this takes nothing away from Rulli, who is a hottie in his own right. I just spent an enjoyable five minutes comparing beefcake shots of 'em both on Youtube.

But I am bummed about the galan, sniff, sniff, it's best to know now so that I can get on with my life.

Well maybe FC started working out around then. I watched him probably 1995-2000, in stuff like Esmeralda and Abrazame muy fuerte. I remember him being a little thick in the middle and barrel chested.

Lynn, terrific recap! Thanks! Great details and editorials always make for good reading.

“She throws some seeds (coffee?) on the table as she gets up. She screams that she doesn’t want anyone to know!” I thought she was making something with beads and upset her glass beads all over the table. Whatever, it was a mess, on the floor, too. Very unlike our usually calm Rosita.

“Orlando asks if Gaspar is the same retrasado (not nice word for mentally challenged) as the one in the Devils Cave? Thelma denies it and takes off upstairs. Orlando, left alone, talks to himself. He thinks it is all very weird. Why would Gaspar want to kill Thelma? Why is Thelma so afraid of Gaspar? Could Gaspar be the same as the guy in the Devils Cave? No No No that couldn’t be possible. I have to figure out what’s going on.” I thought he already knew this. Well, it shouldn’t take him too long to figure it out!

“Luba assists Castulo in surgery. He is a skilled surgeon as he uses a large hunting knife to dig out the bullet from Gaspars chest.” If I wasn’t so worried about Gaspar dying I’d be laughing, ‘cause this is cute. Castulo has put two and two together with Gaspar’s mumbling here. It’s all closing in on Thelma the witch.

I never expected Sergio to be moved by Nora’s pleas. This might be a good thing.

“Thelma tells her that her salvation would be if Gaspar died. Her eyes gleam as she says this again. Her salvation is Gaspars death!” Speaking of DNA for Alina and Don Loco, all it would take is a little DNA testing on Emilio and this baby to determine he’s not the father. No one here thinks logically, however. Thelma doesn’t realize there’s a lot more than just Gaspar’s death to make her free and clear.

I hope Emilioooo finds out the rope was cut. It’s about time Orlando gets what he deserves. ;-)

“One of the army guys pulls Arcadio’s license out of José’s pocket. Its Arcadios drivers license. They think this man is Arcadio instead of Jose. Emilio cusses that Jose gave them the slip.” Yep, Arcadio gave José his coat, didn’t he. Hm. Arcadio forgot his ID. Someone will probably be sorry about that later.

Sylvia, in telenovelaland two wrongs apparently can make a right, so that's why I think the bullet will make Gaspar "normal" again (he he). I love your list of questions at the end of your post!

Marycelis, because I travel so much my sister is always asking me "where in the world is Carmen Sandiego" (meaning me) when I call her from one of my three cell phones. So, there must be two people in the world, or three, who know that one.

I agree with everybody who thinks Santos is the father. DNA would prove what? If Don Max is Santos' father, that could muddy the DNA....I am guessing.....but if Castulo was the rapist, and the father is Santos, no problem there. Imagine this, though: Don Max going from hot-to-trot suitor to Rosita to Grandpa in one fell swoop. That'd be enough to make a viego's moustache droop.

ROFLMAO~~~Margaret, Margaret, Margaret. What can I say??? To each her own. Who can tell why some people like vanilla ice cream while others favor rocky road. I have always liked my hombres tall, big, dark, and handsome ; therefore, Fernando gets checkmarks for every point on my wish list. In the past, I have fixated on Adrian Paul, Joe Lando, and Dean Cain. Also, I keep remembering that old saying : ''Never send a child to do a man's work.'' Thus, I like my hombres on the mature side .[Maybe this has something to do with teaching in a high school for several years dealing with teen boys [CARAY!CARAY!] and teaching many foreign guys in their 20s and 30s for many years. Fernando has had some years to perfect his skills, e.g. kissing and seducing. No on-the-job training required. Like fine wine , he has mellowed...he is a seasoned studmuffin. Sebastion R. is gorgeous and sweetlooking, but almost too perfect in a sunlit godlike way. I must admit that I do like the young guy who played Marcus on ''Alborada'' [Marcelo Cordova???]...he is tall, big, dark, handsome, and young. Him I could work with.~~~Susanlynn, thinking about this whole subject way too much...I have papers to correct and laundry to do

Sylvia~~~About the studly dudes getting wounded...funny you should ask ! I ,too, have made this observation. Hub bought me all 6 seasons of ''Dr.Quinn'' on dvd for Christmas one year, and it is amazing how many times Sully [Joe Lando] got shot, stabbed, and tommyhawked. I have also noticed that these studly studs never get a nasty wound to the foot or leg, for example. It is always a torso attack , thereby allowing many scenes of our hero shirtless, in bed, being doted over by the leading lady. In ''Alborada'', Luis's unfortunate side wound gave us hours of viewing pleasure as Tia Isabel, Hippolita, Rafael, Felipe, Marcos, Catalina, and Cristobel all came to visit and aid our fallen hero.~~~Susilynn, thinking about a career as a telenovela nurse

Wow Margaret, around here even hinting that Fernando Colunga is anything less than perfect will get you killed. Luckily I can stay out of that one, there aren't any other men posting here to argue over which women are hot. I suggest you talk about something less inflammatory, like religion or politics. (Just kidding, of course, but I know how you long-time recappers/commenters feel on this)

Yeah, I guess, Cada quien...I was just asking if somebody could explain his special appeal to so many.

Margaret, Margaret, Margaret --yeah, me too:)

Fernando Colunga is such a stud. He is HOT. Big-chested, tall, with some substance to him. Now, that's a MAN!

Sebastian Rulli is cute but I would say more pretty-looking than HOT! He looks like a model.
