La Fea Más Bella #240 3/27/07 In which I realize that Aldo will always be Aiden Shaw and Fernando is Mr. Big.

Carla asks Fernando about the expo and Lety. He says that they both are perfect. Fernando turns to leave, but Carloca (Did I spell that right?) pulls him back. She asks if they are friends. He confirms that they are to Carloca and the two door people. Fernando and Carla share a moment of song and then head toward the expo.

At Conceptos, Alicia pretends that she was going to wait for Marcia to go to the expo. Tomas reluctantly leaves, his head hanging. Marcia obviously doesn't believe Alicia's game. She can't believe that Alicia was really going to the expo with Tomas. Alicia explains that Tomas was going to take her in "her" car. As if the bra-less outfit wasn't unattractive enough, Marcia contorts her face into some hideous form and says, "Your, car?!" Alicia blames it all on Tomas buying the lawyers. Marcia moves on and asks for her SUV. Alicia says that it's at her house because she doesn't have money to put gas into it. Marcia asks if this means that Alicia was planning on returning the car without gas. Alicia can't talk her way out of this so she talks about the "grave" problem. (Meaning Carloca) Marcia agrees and asks Alicia to accompany her to the bathroom to change. Before they leave, Alicia decides to lighten Marcia's mood by saying. "I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I think that you are about to be ousted again."

Irmita and Luigi debate the state of Conceptos. She thinks it's starting to shine. He thinks it's all about the platypus (Lety). Fernando enters the room. Yey! Vocab Lesson! Luigi calls Fernando a Guarrachon. I think he's playing on the word guarra which is used frequently in Spain to indicate someone who is very sexually active. A simpler way to explain it is Luigi is calling him a slut. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.) The next thing Luigi calls Fernando is "el macho reproductor" the manly reproducer (instead of producer), so I'm almost sure that's what he meant when he said guarrachon.

Anyway, back to the show! Fernando asks Luigi if he (Fernando) may speak alone with Luigi. Luigi thinks he's talking to the ladies and says not to be a long time. Fernando corrects Luigi, saying he (Fernando) wants to talk with him (Luigi). Fernando realizes he's not getting anywhere with Luigi so he asks Irmita to remove the dancers and give he and Luigi a moment alone. Irmita rushes the women out of the room. Luigi defiantly sits in one of the chairs and says that they really don't have anything to talk about. Fernando doesn't waste time. He pulls Luigi out of the chair and immediately asks why Luigi changed the direction for the book delivery. Luigi accuses Fernando of spying but Fernando says it was impossible not to listen considering how loud Luigi talked on the phone. Luigi half admits that he changed the address. At least the address was still in the same district! He accuses Fernando of turning into "Super Fernando to the rescue." Fernando scoffs. Luigi thinks that Fernando is about to unleash and he backs away and hisses at Fernando. Fernando whispers the word "speak" at Lunge. Luigi thinks this means that Fernando is about to hit him. Luigi turns and confesses to Fernando that he(Luigi) is in love with Aldo. Fernando doesn't react at all. Luigi now says that he's very much in love with Aldo. Fernando feigns understanding. Luigi goes on and says he found out that Aldo is in love with the most horrifying woman ever! How could a man be so stupid to fall in love with such an ugly woman? Fernando give Luigi one ugly look. Luigi, who is apparently more intuitive than every one else on the show, conjectures that this look means that Fernando is also in love with Lety. Fernando challenges Luigi by saying "Yes, I'm also in love with Lety. So what?" Luigi sits, stands, sits, stands. He cannot believe it. He thinks that Lety must have done this with witchcraft, because what does could she possibly have. Fernando does some gestures, trying to think of how to explain it. His final answer, what does Lety have? "Things." Luigi now stalks Fernando and says that he's going to make sure that the expo is a failure. Fernando walks straight toward Luigi and asks if Luigi is crazy. Luigi backs down and says he was just reacting; he can't believe that two very good looking men could...this only happens in the novelas! Fernando takes two steps back and pretends that he was just joking when he said he was in love with Lety. This relieves Luigi. Before Luigi can leave the room, Fernando asks Luigi to leave Lety alone, because she's the president of Conceptos!

In the showroom area, Anais interviews a very nervous Lety. Lety attempts to explain the goals of the expo and the campaign. At first her eye twitches and she looks nervous, but she eventually calms. Lety calls her mom to come over to the interview. Lety presents her mother and tells Anais that Julieta helped with the recipes and the mole. Erasmo catches the fever and he steps in front of the camera to say hello to all of Mexico and especially his uncle Lazaro.

Aldo catches Caro and Lety taking some photos. He rushes over to Lety to kiss her on the cheek to thank her for everything she's done for him. They all talk about the success of the event. Tomas walks into this scene with a sad look on his face. Lety and Aldo try to cheer him up, but he's depressed about love. He wanted to bring Alicia. Aldo asks for her. Tomas pulls out his photo of Alicia and says that is all he brought because the real thing wanted to send him to the devil and left him all alone, sad and grief-stricken. Aldo tries to assure Tomas that there will be better times. Tomas says that Aldo can sympathize because he know what it's like to have love that is not corresponded. Lety nervously laughs. She and Aldo slap Tomas on the back.

OH MY GOD! Darth Teresita is gone and in her place is Bozo the Mendiola! Humberto and Teresita greet Lety. They congratulate her on the success. Ariel stands with the Mendiolas. Lety introduces Aldo. Ariel says some stupid line about not liking people who smiled, but that he now does because everyone seems happier. (Huh?) Humberto comes forward and personally greets Aldo, who gives the credit for the expo to Lety. Caro steps forward and says hi to all the Mendiolas. Ariel complains about no longer owning the company. Humberto hushes him and congratulates Lety for the expo's success.

Lety walks over to the cuartel to talk, but everyone is distracted by the presence of Fernando and Carloca. The cuartel comments about Carla and Fernando. They abandon Lety, forcing her to say hi. Luckily, Anais enters and says hello to Carloca. They are old friends. Re-hash about the expo. Anais gives a brief history to Carloca about Lety meeting Aldo in Acapulco. Fernando turns to leave, but returns. Aldo and Fausto watch in the background. Carla hears more of the story and she excitedly talks about Acapulco and how romance of that location. Irmita rushes over to the group to steal Lety. After Lety leaves, Fernando grabs Anais's hands and asks if she likes Acapulco. Yup, and so does Carloca. Next Fernando asks if Anais likes Aldo. Oh, she just loves him. “Brilliant! Brilliant!" Fernando responds. He excuses himself and asks Anais to take charge of Carla for a moment. Anais and Carloca leave; Fernando rushes to somewhere.

In the lounge, Aldo and Fausto pause for a moment. Aldo explains that it bothers him to see Fernando around Lety. Aldo knows that Fernando is still in love with Lety, but he can never show. Now, he's parading around his new "love", Carla. Fausto thinks this is a sign that Fernando is trying to make Lety jealous. Aldo doesn't think that Lety will ever fall for Fernando's games a second time. (Brave words, considering this is novelaland. That's usually the kiss of death!)

Luigi prepares the models for the show. Irmita enters the room with Lety. Lety asks Luigi why he wanted to see her. He makes some mean spirited jokes about her appearance saying that he didn't really want to "see" her. Luigi starts out saying he cannot believe it, but changes his mind about that approach and asks Lety if she's going to give the opening speech. Luigi cruelly explains that he doesn't think that Lety should stand in front of all those businessmen and the international press because she'll give them a heart attack. Lety sarcastically thanks him and leaves. Irmita pulls Luigi aside but he justifies his comments because of his disdain for Lety. He thinks to himself about what he can do to get to Lety.

Fernando catches Lety rushing down the hall. He asks her if it's a problem with Luigi. She says that Fernando made her mad with the whole thing with the books. Fernando starts to explain that the books were not his fault, but Lety doesn't want to let him into her space. He backs up and notices that he ran into a picture. He tries to fix it, but it's a little cockeyed. Lety realizes that it was Fernando who moved the Monster Lady Parts Seashell of Doom painting, but Fernando doesn’t catch on to her comment about the painting. Fernando explains that he did not change the address for the books. Lety takes this to mean that Omar did it. Fernando says it wasn't Omar either, and in fact they saved the books. Fernando asks for a moment to speak with Lety. She reluctantly agrees. They walk different directions and then end up in the same lounge where Fausto and Aldo talked earlier.

Aldo stands in the background and watches the discussion between Fernando and Lety. She explains all the mean things that Luigi said to her. Fernando tells Lety not to pay Luigi any attention, because she's going to do the speech. Lety says she's not so sure she should. Fernando says that she's the president, so she has to stand in front of the businessmen and the press. Lety replies that the company isn't really hers. It's hers for political and legal reasons only. Fernando says that Lety is the president of Conceptos because she deserves to be. Lety and Aldo are impactado.

Fernando and Lety continue to talk. Fernando tells Lety that she's helped come up with great new ideas. This whole campaign is hers. She protests by saying she's an economist, not a public speaker. Fernando replies that all those people want to see Lety speak because they want to hear about her campaign and because the want her to confirm to them exactly why she's the president of the company. She's waited for this all of her life and now she should enjoy it. It's time that she is recognized. Fernando says that Lety doesn't need to believe what he says or in him, but she needs to believe in herself. She should go to the stage and show all those people the woman with whom he, Fernando, fell in love. Aldo looks nervous. Fernando grasps Lety's hands, kisses them and wishes her luck. He realizes he crossed the line and quickly rushes out of the room. Lety wistfully watches him leave and then says his name.

Aldo enters the room. He apologizes for remaining in the room. He didn't want to be rude and cross in front of them to leave. Lety tries to explain what happened, but Aldo says she doesn't need to because he agrees with what Fernando said. Lety says that she doesn't believe anything that Fernando says. Aldo says that she should because Aldo could tell that he was sincere. Lety can't believe what Aldo is saying. Aldo says that he honors those who deserve it and tonight Fernando has shown him a different side. Aldo says he respects Fernando so much more. Lety explains that this is the Fernando with whom she fell in love. They pass an awkward moment talking about Aldo, Fernando and love.

Yazmin walks over to Luigi and begs to be a part of the expo. Luigi reminds her that she's just the receptionist. He dismisses her, saying she has two left feet. She would be better off dancing with the cuartel. This inspires Luigi. He's going to do something, and it has to do with the cuartel.

Alicia and Marcia rush into the expo. Marcia watches everyone and ends up fixed on Carloca and Fernando. At that moment, Bozo walks over to Fernando and asks for Marcia. Bozo sidesteps the question and introduces Carloca. Bozo still wants to know about Marcia. Fernando explains that he hasn't seen Marcia in a long time.

Alicia and Marcia watch all of this. Alicia asks if Marcia wants to go greet Teresita. Marcia's not in the mood. She places herself and Alicia on the second level, behind the executive tables. Meanwhile, Fernando explains to Carla that Marcia is the only woman his mother has ever liked.

Alicia tries to prompt a reaction out of Marcia. Marcia stone walls and says that she has class and dignity. She thought this woman wouldn't bother her, but she's really dying of jealousy. She and Alicia decide to spy. They re-enter the expo.

The presentation starts. An announcer greets everyone to the expo and introduces Lety. She slowly approaches the stage, but trips and falls on her way. Once she gets to the stage, she begins to speak in her little girl voice. Fernando and Aldo rush to the stage to help. Fernando tells her not to stand so close to the microphone. He and Aldo have a moment and then it's back to Lety. She now stands so far from the microphone that no one can hear her. Fernando signals for her to breathe.

Lety begins her speech, thanking everyone who contributed to the campaign. She thanks Guillermo, Fernando, Marcia and other contributors. Fernando whispers to Omar that she's not going to thank Aldo. AT that moment she decides to give a very special thanks to a certain person, Aldo. He stands and thanks everyone. Lety asks Aldo to come to the stage and say a few words. Aldo gives a nice little speech about Mexican food and it's affect on Mexican culture. There's a short video.

Fernando is the first to stand. He approaches the stage. He sarcastically thanks Aldo for all his help with the campaign. All the executives look nervous. He goes on about Aldo's book and points to a GIANT poster of Aldo with the book. Lety runs over to Fernando and quickly takes the microphone, which Aldo takes from her and also sarcastically thanks Fernando. The men take a few swipes at each other. The goodwill must be over because the they both basically tell each other to die.

Luigi sits in his "office" and says to himself that after his commercials are presented, Lety will see his surprise. Irmita enters and asks Irmita to talk to her. Luigi complains about his life. He tells Irmita that he's in love with Aldo and today he found out that Aldo is in love with Lety. Irmita is impactado (in a happy way).

The announcer enters the stage again to introduce Luigi. He descends from the second stage to much applause. Luigi says he has something very personal to tell Aldo and Conceptos' president. Cue the golden circle of tomorrow!

I promised this a while ago. Here’s the Youtube link for the Pinky and the Brain video. Enjoy!

Thank, u very much for the recap!

Aldo was wearing white. Fern was wearing black. Lety had both colors. I just can't wait to see what will happen tomorrow. Will the cuartel dance?

You are completely right about the Aiden & Mr. Big thing. I enjoyed today's episode a lot, so much so that I watched it twice. The scenes with Aldo & Fernando were hilarious! Maybe someone can explain to me why Fernando took back what he said to Luigi about being in love with Lety? I was actually relieved to see Marcia because she will definitely try to get rid of Carloca... and I thought her outfit was more appropriate that Carloca's. If only Fernando would speak to Lety the way he did when they were alone, then she probably would believe that he's in love with her. Oh, and your comment about Terestia looking like Bozo was hiliarious, being that I'm from Chicago... but I don't think it's as bad as her former hair style.

Esther

Thanks for such a quick recap. Since I'm not a coffee drinker, this site takes the place of my morning shot-in-the-arm/wake-me-up.
Fashion observation: Lety's high heels - when she walked off with Fernando to the lounge for a 'discussion', it seemed that she walked with more confidence than when she wears the clunky, chunky shoes. True, she stumbled when she had to walk to the microphone to give her speech, but perhaps her confidence is sloooowly building up.
A question about where these events are taking place: someone posted a YouTube link a couple of weeks ago where there was a singer - believed to be the actress who portrays Carla - singing to a group that included Fernando, Omar, and Carloca - in my memory it seems to be this same place.
Time for another cross-country bus trip. Choose between Bus A or Bus B. Bus A: the only available seats are with the dads - Erasmo, Fausto, and Humberto. Or ... you can ride Bus B: the only available seats are with Alica, Marta, and PM. So which bus and which 'companion' for a 4-day cross-country bus trip???
Y'all have a great day.

You know, Aldo and Fern are really funny together! Maybe Aldo isn't a COMPLETE stick-in-the mud? Okay...maybe he is. But I like him better than I did.
Did Helmethead borrow one of Alicia's outfits or what? I was incredibly disturbed that we were seeing that much cleavage from Fern's MOM!
Marcia hasn't changed...she is still nasty. I was enjoying her absence, and I hadn't even realized how much.
Those are my random thoughts on this episode.

Esther, I think Fern took back what he said about Lety because he saw that Luigi is bent on revenge. As a jealous diva, Luigi would likely to go after Lety. Notice he followed up with a statement to sabotage Aldo if necessary, but to leave Lety alone. It was lame, but I think he meant to do the right thing.

Thanks for the Aiden & Mr. Big comment...in my younger dumber days I was an Aiden shipper..that is til Big played the old record MoonRiver for Carrie. If only Lety had friends like Carried did, you know people that had actually dated in this century. But anyhow, I loved how Fer talks to Lety when she will give him a chance. Remember Aldo's jealous behavior when overhearing Fer and that he realizes Fer loves Lety, just remember his behavior.

I don't blame Marcia for being PO'd I mean sure she has to know it will never work with Fer, but don't you think she deserves the common curtesy of him telling her it is over? I mean I'm sure I'd like the have a few final words over it. It is the same way Lety treats Fer, she dismisses him and that is what Fer does to Marcia....Not stellar behavior by either Fer or Lety

I saw that Helmet Head had turned into Bozo a few weeks ago on Youtube, and I had to restrain myself, because of no spoilers here. I'm so glad her glorious new do has finally been revealed.

But I really loved the talk between Lety and Fern. She finally let herself listen to him. Maybe some sense will sink in.

Anonymous 7:19

You were not mistaken, there was a performance by the woman who plays Carla at the expo in the Mexican version. I think Univision has cut that scene from the US version. Please don't get upset about that! We should be thanking Univision. The performance was bad, bad, bad.

I think Aldo was going to keep droning on and on about his new age-y Taste of Life. Thank goodness Fernando took away the mike. Snore.

I enjoyed the sweet scene with Lety and Fernando so much!!!

Alicia might get away with it, but, the low cut dress on Bozo just looked awful. I think there comes a time when you have to cover up or look ridiculous!

Bus A or bus B? I would definitely pick bus A and the papa's.
I like all of them so it probably wouldn't matter who I sat next to.
Erasmo would keep me entertained, Humb is polite and very nice (except to Fern). Fausto would be my last choice because I would be afraid he might start spouting Aldo's new age babble.
I would take any of them over bus B. If bus B were my only choice I guess I would choose Marta. Her constant eating would drive me crazy but I like her personality better than PM and Alicia.

Fern's suit just didn't seem to fit him right. It seems to be buttoned up too high and pulls and looks uncomfortable. Did anyone else notice that?
Maybe it's not the right cut for him?
Even so, he is incredibly gorgeous! He is even more so when he is sweet and tender with Lety.

Now that Marcia has ridden in on her broom (and wardrobe to match), I wonder if she will confront Fern and Carla?

Thanks so much Amanda!

It is amazing how awful Marcia is to Alicia, she totally uses her as a friend, then dirt bags her when things don't go her way.

its the other way around...Alicia uses Marcia. Don't forget who goes looking for cash in Marcia's desk while she's gone, and who uses the car but puts no gas. Marcia is mean to her because she's not being a very good friend.

It's Alicia's fault that Marcia took so long to come back! She couldn't even book her flight correctly! Marcia is frustrated because Alicia isn't doing anything right.

"Darth Teresita is gone and in her place is Bozo the Mendiola" LOL! I didn't even recognize her until she started babbling about Marcia. Since no one else likes her I concluded it must be Darth T.

Bus trip - I'd sit next to Humberto, who would be polite, courteous, and mind his own business.

If I HAD to ride the other bus, I'd probably sit next to Alicia because I think she'd be the least likely to talk to me. And if she did talk, I doubt that her voice would grate on my nerves the way PM's and Martha's (and Lola's, not that anyone asked).

Marcia and Alicia - their relationship is symbiotic - they use each other. Marcia uses Alicia for emotional support (and Alicia has mostly been very sensitive and supportive in this regard, spying on Fern for months and months, etc.) and Alicia uses Marcia for financial support.

There is really not much else to their friendship. Obviously Alicia can't give anything of material value to Marcia, and Marcia has never, nunca jamás been emotionally supportive of Alicia. In fact, except for the money, Marcia is just about the worst friend I could think of. If she's the best friend Alicia has, no wonder Alicia's such an insecure disaster.

...but it's true that Alicia is totally incompetent. Marcia got what she deserved when Alicia became her secretary.

Maybe I'm crazy but I thought the whole Aldo/Fern publicly acting like jackasses for lety thing was humiliating. Especially for Fernando becuase he had just gotten his act together and spoken to Lety like a good (and MATURE!!!) man, one that was really in love. And then he acts like a jackass. I guess I'm more frustrated than usual because I have a cold etc!

I did love it when they both ran on stage and picked Lety up in tandem, that was sweet. Are the writers trying to show us that Terecita has poor poor poor judgement? They are doing a very good job of it with that wig!
As for Marcia and Alicia, they deserve each other, that's all I can say. Oh and Bus A or B? I think I'd walk.

Lori

Great title, Amanda, and right on target! I like Fernando as Mr. Big.

Fashion notes : Lety's outfit was very nice & (Anon 7:19) I also noticed how well she walked in the high heels. Better than I can, and on carpet, I think.

Aldo needs a new shirt, I hate the one he had on. Once again, Fer's mom is showing her version of the family jewels . Call me conservative, but really, it was a bit much. Or am I an "ageist"?

Marcia was initially more concerned about Lety than Carla.

OK - we know Fer loves Lety and as Faustus astutely noted, is trying to make Lety jealous with Carla.
But, come on, Carla was stroking his hair at the expo & he did nothing to stop her? And his parents are there? He loses the points he got for the pep talk to Lety and kissing her hands.
He's losing the war to reconquista a Lety.
Damn, he's gorgeous!

I was surprised as well with fern talking soo sincere to lety and a few minutes later acting like an "a.....e. I don't like seeing him act like that, except with lety, which they are known for the sillyness. I agreed with someone's remark yesterday that lety has become a bitch and hard; yet when there are scenes like last night, when she googieyes him, she is the same Lety as before, which is what Iwant to see with fern in the end, not a new lety.

I always thought somehow Marcia & Alicia met from the club..the one where the underwear commercial was filmed, cause Alicia was banned from there. I guess her ex had a membership, cause by Alicia's behavior I do not believe she grew up in the same social circle as Marcia, Omar, Ariel & Fer. So, they met and used each other.

Fer's biggest downfall is his obsessive compulsive behavior..he can only focus on Lety, once he decided he loved her that has been it..I think that maybe part of the dissing of Marcia, he doesn't mean to do it, she simply isn't important, it is like he has ADD & can only focus on Lety, he can't take the time to dump Marcia cause that would take away from obsessing about Lety, which say what you want about Marcia, that's gotta sting.

As much as I like the Fer character, I don't like that they have done that to him, cause it is a end all be all, which just kinda makes him look like an idiot, I mean seriously once you get Lety, then what? It's like without Lety he has no self worth. I think some med's would help, that and a hobby and maybe a new girlfriend.

Thank you Amanda for the great recap and the link to the YouTube video. I laughed so hard, what a great combination F&O and P&B. I think I've got to go watch it again.

I was alarmed at Teresita's hair. It is ghastly, and I didn't think she could find a way to make her hair look worse than before, WAS I WRONG!! So does this mean she's now Darth Bozo?

I too found it disturbing that she was speaking to her son at cleavage level with it all hanging out. Not appropriate.

Lety's outfit and her ability to walk in real heels---both very nice.

Perhaps the greatest moment of the evening was when Fernando gave Lety the pep talk and kissed her hand. I've said it before, and I'll say it again....when he acts like that my heart completely melts.

So they had Carla singing at the expo, how did she manage that. I'm glad that Univision cut those scenes. Now start cutting some of the cuartel.

Yikes! When Fen and Aldo started acting like idiots during that speech I had to leave the room for a minute because I felt embarrassed for both of them. I hate scenes like that no matter who is in them.

Poor Fern. It must bother him deep down when he sees the relationships everyone else has with their parents. Fausto is there supporting Aldo and bragging about him. Ditto for Robopop and Julieta even if they sometimes go too far and his parents show up, Don H sits as far away from him as possible, Bozo speaks to him only to ask where her beloved Marcia is and then when Fern introduces her to someone who is important for the business blows her and him off. No one he screws up always trying to win their approval which is never going to happen.

Someone should talk to Marcia about pulling her hair back like that. She looked positively moon faced. I thought it interesting that she wanted to know how Lety was reacting to Carla. I'm living for that meeting.

Anyone catch all the eye tics during the conversations about Lety in Acapulco. I wonder if she will ever find out that Fern was there trying to kill himself.

Very astute of Fern to back off on loving Lety to Luigi both as a means to try and find out what the little twit has in mind and as a way of keeping more ammo away from him. But I did like the tone when he said he loved her and so what.

Lety is still on my bad side because of her blindness when it comes to Fern. Her grudge carrying is so high school at this point.

Somebody-Imita?- seriously needs to get through to Luigi! He is being such a jerk to Lety-all of NASTY comments and total disrespect to her, her position in the companty, etc. Can't he see that by messing with her, and the company's image, is to potentially ruin them all (himself included?) What an idiot-talk about obsessing! I just wanted to smack him and tell him to get over himself, already. As Irmita pointed out to him last night, she DID try to tell him that Aldo was not gay, a long time ago--and he refused to listen! And now he is shocked to find out that his love is unrequited??
Anonymous 12:58 pointed out the colors Aldo, Lety and Fernando were wearing, did you notice that Carla had white on(like Aldo) and Marcia had on dark clothes (like Fernando). Only Lety had on a combination....wonder if PG could explain the symbolism??? :)

Luigi doesn't think himself part of Conceptos. He thinks of himself as a super talented creative soul who has the ability to take on side jobs, which he originally thought the Aldo's book was. He doesn't really give a hoot about anything to do with Conceptos other than Marcia. Talk about someone who is clueless. He needs to be given a hart lesson about judging people the way he does. If this were any novela other than LFMB he would get in some kind of accident and end up with a nasty scarred face to ram the point home.

One of the charms about novelas is that the badfdies always lose in then end and the screwed up goodies get what they want and minor characters also show some growth. I'll be interested to see if Luigi, Marcia and Alicia improve by the end but i have no hope for that ungrateful snake Ariel.

Janet

Great analogy to “sex in the city” Amanda. It really clarified the situation and now I don’t feel as threatened by Aldo. Now, I just have to hope for the same outcome.

D. Terasita looked like a drag queen last night. That wig is hideous.

Loved Fern and Lety together but was embarrassed by the lack of professionalism during the big speech. It’s bad enough when they do this stuff in front of the Conceptos staff, but at an important event… Okay, we get it, they are jealous of each other. If the post-breakup was the blue period, we have officially entered the green period.

Luigi is cracking me up with his jilted lover routine. Can’t wait to see what revenge he is planning, but unfortunately I think it involves the cuartel’s dance routine. They all look worse with their makeovers then before!

Jewels,

Just the thought of the cuartel clomping around like a herd of cows on acid makes me shiver. In some sick way I think that Fern or Lety will find away to make something positive out of it or maybe even Aldo will find away to indicate it was all planed as part of the show to show the REAL people of Mexico. Luigi has to get his comeuppance and I'm waiting for a little chat between him and Aldo who is of course clueless as to what Luigi is doing and why.

Diane

Alright just a note. It's painfully clear that Aldo by now knows Fer really loves Lety. He is so observant and astute about everything else, there's now way that he can think Fer is still just lying to her after that conversation and how jealous he acts.
Does he tell Lety he thinks Fer really loves her and maybe she's wrong? Hmmm, didn't yet when he had the chance, just that he thought Fer was sincere. Good start, but it seems he could facilitate things more, if he really cares about what's best for Lety instead of what's best for him. Just a thought....
Guess, we'll have to see what Beckster might be aluding too....

I don't know who Aiden Shaw and Mr. Big are....

Hee, I had to google them too. Aidan Shaw is the guy on Sex in the City who was played by the radio guy from Northern Exposure. On Sex and the City, Carrie was dating Shaw. She had also dated Mr. Big. She ended up with Mr. Big, but I guess some people were really pulling for Shaw.

I only watched the show for a short time, but I liked the guy from Office Space that she dated better. :)

Ha, Cathy! I liked your new name for Mama T. the best, "Darth Bozo".
She was very rude to Carla. She pushed herself between CC and Fern and tried to distract him from his attention to Carla by bringing up Marcia.
Someone should tell mama that low cut tops just don't look good on women of a certain age! I am including myself in that group!!!

I completely missed her low cut top because i couldn't take my horrified eyes off her hair. She wasn't trying to push between them to distract him because Fern wasn't paying much attention to Carla anyway. She is just so obsessed with getting Fern and Marcia together that nothing else matters. After watching her for a while it is obvious that Fern gets this somewhat desperate obsessiveness from her.

Dancing cows on Acid - the mind boggles and I needed that laugh this morning. Bring it on Luigi!

Looooved the scene where Fern told Lety she was president because she deserved it; that she didn't have to believe him, she should believe in herself. The sweet hand holding and the hand kiss--enough to melt the coldest heart.
Hated Dona Teresita's vibrantly red hair and would have to choose the papas for the bus trip. Unless I was seated next to Erasmo, who would tell me endless stories of his Uncle the the fine people of Puebla.

Am I the only person who liked Darth Bozo's pointy new hair better than the helmet-head look??

Is Teresita sharing a red wig with Olmos from "Zorro"?
Marie from Mass

The local daily newspaper carries a crtoon called "Sally Forth". Sally has just celebrated her 40th birthday; she and her husband, Ted, have a 12 yr old (I think) daughter. Sally is a jr. executive.
Anyway, the storyline yesterday and today had to do with TELENOVELAS.
Yesterday: Sally says to Ted - "Are you watching that telenovela again, Ted?" and Ted responds about the show having everything ... plot twists, character development, etc. To which Sally adds ..."a cast of drop-dead gorgeous actresses." Ted laments, "Man, if only I spoke Spanish"
Today: Sally is musing to her co-worker that she thinks Ted is bored with her - "...lately he's obsessing over Spanish-language soap operas and I think it's for the women."
I guess Ted's not watching LFMB (not as many drop-dead gorgeous actresses as other telenovelas).

Just a note on the impact of telenovelas. LOL

Darth Bozo - oy. There are ways to show you've got an hourglass figure without exposing so much cleavage that you appear to have buttocks growing under your collar-bones.
Lety, grow up, quit blaming everything on Fernando. He's not the Devil in Armani and nobody held a gun to your head to make you participate in the whole Conceptos-FI mess.
That said, there were two good things about this capítulo: Fernando's pep-talk and Marcia's discovery that eye-shadow comes in colors other than pink.
Bus ride B. Paula María.

Amanda, thanks for the wonderful recap! Great details and editorials!

Marcia certainly can look fea when she gets that look of disgust on her face. My grandma always used to say, “pretty is as pretty does.” Then Forrest Gump’s mother misquoted her. Marcia is NOT doing pretty. Malicia is not helping, either.

Poor Tomás; he will just never learn. He’s in a state of perpetual lost hope.

Whew, what a vocab lesson! I had a gay friend who always referred to straight men as “breeders.” That was the first thing I thought of when I read Luigi’s word, “reproductor.” Seems I was kind of right, huh? I’m really annoyed with Fern for backpedaling and telling Luigi he was joking about being in love with Lety. However, I’m glad he told Luigi to leave her alone because she is the Prez.

The interview was so painful I had to fast forward. I couldn’t deal. I like Lety and think she has gained some real composure and this was back to square zero. (Same thing when she got up in front of the crowd at the mike, and when Fern burst in inappropriately—I had to fast forward. That’s the first time I’ve ever done that with LFMB). You can count on Erasmo to be inappropriate a lot of the time, too. He didn’t fail us last night. He was right in there…..

“OH MY GOD! Darth Teresita is gone and in her place is Bozo the Mendiola!” ROTFLLLLL!!!! What a great line! Did you notice that decolletage later? Ew. It was at least as bad as Malicia’s. Ariel obviously isn’t getting the good put-down lines he did earlier. He sounded like he was already half-stewed, making no sense at all. Teresita also looked like she’d had a couple of weeks at the plastic surgeon after the big junta. Isn’t her face fastened on tighter than it was before?

Fern did redeem himself when he said so many genuinely nurturing things to Lety about the wonderful job she is doing. It was nice that Aldo overheard, because now he knows Fern can be sincere and not totally a horse’s posterior.

It didn't take long for all the friends online here to zero in on Mama Bear Mendiola's new hair, new teeth, and cleavage out the ying yang..You guys are brutal and funny..

I can't understand why someone has not nailed that obnoxious Luigi to the wall..He has everyone afraid of him for some strange reason..I don't get it..His verbal abuse of Lety is appalling..Can't wait until something brings that gay blade down from his high horse.PS. I believe we can add a face lift as well to Mama Bear Mendiola,as some pointed out.Obviously, she's been reading the comments here.

Like anon, 2:40, I also missed the cleavage (thankfully) because I could not get past the awful bozo wig. Somone also needs to tell her that when it comes to make up on mature women, less is more.
Yikes! She was like a scary movie clown. Loved the Fern and Lety scene.
I agree with Ester about Carloca's outfit. She is looking very bra-less in that. I don't like anything she wears.

thanks for the recap and the great comments. i managed to watch most of this episode, but continue to be frustrated with some of the directorial choices. Yes, I could see Lety being insecure about making a speech in front of the expo, but she has been making so many strides as of late. She's clumsy, yes, but not retrasado- so what was the point of the fall on the way to the microphone? It's almost as if not even the director wants her to grow up - but it doesn't make her winsome or adorable as before, just stunted. while i didn't see betty la fea in its entirety, it makes much more sense that betty comes in to her own, during the expo, which the writers rejected for lety in their efforts to extend the novela, and make it more "funny", and different than the original. it's also weird that jaime camil and juan soler seem to have more chemistry than lety and aldo. I would totally choose Don Humberto for the long bus trip - he seems very formal and gracious and would tell interesting stories about his world travels (and his very attractive son). I'd only ride with Don Erasmo if he sang boleros and not if he told boring stories about his uncle. Marta seems nice too, but PM and especially Alicia would scare me - she's way too abusive when riding the bus.

Julie, I am the only other person who liked Darth Bozo'a new hair better than her old helmet!
I have to admit though that I couldn't get past the aging cleavage. I wonder who chooses the outfits when I see something like that???

Carrie L.

Okay, Carrie, if you compare the hair now to before, I guess I have to agree that it's an improvement. The cleavage, though...nah.

"not liking people who smiled"

possib ald just likes a certain group of plays:

"That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain" -Hamlet

/mab

not that it matters, unless you are trying to find something on the i-t, but it's not:
"sex IN the city"
it's
"sex AND the city"
