Acorralada #72 Wednesday 4/25/07 "Found!"

I apologize if some things are missing here. I watched this episode quickly and missed some things and don't have time to go back. And I was watching while missing information from the previous two days.I started watching this without having watched the Tuesday episode. Please don't drum me out of the recappers' union!

First, I was surprised to see Max meeting with the Mother Superior of the convent. How did he get there? Fellow recappers, please help. I have skimmed the previous recaps without success. Obviously, I can't skip any episodes anymore!

To review Monday and Tuesday, since I'm still confused: Real Marfil is left in the ocean? Iggy escapes? Here on Wednesday, we will see Iggy in a hospital bed. With Debora yelling at him. How did Iggy get back to the mainland? How did Max get to the jungle? Oy!

I'm sorry we never got to see the manicomio. That would have made for some funny scenes. I am also sorry that I missed seeing the dwarf. Now, to clarify further, Iggy thinks Debora is Real Marfil, and it was Real Marfil who was in on the kidnapping with him, right? So he is talking to her as if they were in on the kidnapping together?

Back to the episode. Max is meeting with Mother Superior, and he is asking if she has a patient named Diana.

Larry is talking to Granny M. He is upset that Gaby won't talk to him. She encourages him to keep trying.

Someone is going to tell fedora something.

Larry and Gaby talk. We havent' had many kisses. It hurts me to see this. (Sorry, I made cursory notes here and don't have time to watch again. I don't remember what happened here.)

Pilar and Kiki share the good news that she's pregnant. In perfect telenovela fashion, as with Diana, it only takes one time.

Iggy is in the hospital talking to Debora. I don't know how he got there.

Bruno and O and Yolanda are talking: Are you sure Diana is dead in the jungle? Octavia boasts: First I stole Paco, now I will steal everything else. Don't be so happy, says Yolanda. Bruno likes the idea. After all, if not for Diana, her daughter Marfil would have Max. O smirks. She says Max will not return to Marfil even if Diana were dead.

Diego apologizes to Nancy for his previous blast. She says no apologies are necessary.

Back at the convent, Max says he's looking for a girl named Diana.

Lala and Pancho talk. Lala hears she's not dead. Diego says, she must live.

Back at the beach, it's another therapy session with Dr. Rene and his weepy patient Yolanda. Yolanda is wearing a white tube top and a blue scarf around her neck. Why is she crying? Because she can't afford to get her roots done. (Seriously, her highlight job is looking terrible.) No, she is crying because she has done terrible things to Fedora, and because of her, her nephews, whom she loves like sons, have suffered. She finds out that Diana was kidnapped and in a plane crash and cries some more. It's not clear how she could not have known this.

Mother Superior tells Max about the mystery patient. Andres listens in from behind the door.

Something here happens with Kiki and Pilar that I did not watch closely. Please fill in if you know.

Fedora pours more scotch, belts it down and pours another. Now she takes a handfill of pills. Forgive me, God, she says before collapsing.

Max comes in to Diana. Diana, he calls her. Who are you? she asks.
I am Max, your lover. Remember? Everyone thinks you're dead. He leans in for a kiss, and she kisses him back. Huh? Someone with no memory kisses a complete stranger?

Gaby and Kiki have a boring talk about their "relationship." He is trying to pin her down, but she is reluctant to commit. She has to get rid of her feelings for Larry. She remembers how he did nothing while his mother sent her to the servants' quarters, and she gets upset. What gets me upset is not understanding Kiki's motivation in all this. Why is he so eager to have her? He's so struck by her hotness? Revenge on Larry? It just makes no sense, as written and played here.

Caramelo finds Gaviota passed out in the bedroom and calls for help. All the family gathers around shouting, but of course, no one calls 911.

Meanwhile, Kiki and Gaby are talking about how she was left at the church. Kiki agrees that it is not fair (while he caused it).

Max and Diana continue kissing. The magic of his Maxi Medicine cures her amnesia immediately. She now remembers all. I remember all, my name is Diana and my husband is Diego. But she curiously does not tear into Max with the usual hate. With your kiss I remember all!
But she doesn't remember the kidnapping. Only that people with masks took her.
She doesn't remember who was with her. Max says that the good thing is that she can return.

Yolanda and Rene continue their boring therapy session.

Paola and Jorge and two other people are on the beach and have a boring discussion about Paola's "husband" and her situation.
Suddenly, they look over and see Yolanda and Rene hugging. Everyone makes fun, but Paola tries to be nice. She says it's "super cool" that Yolanda has someone of his age. Yolanda tells Rene that Paola has always been like that--she never takes anything seriously.

Diana and Max continue talking: She is eager to return home to see everyone, especially her baby. Max says he has held the baby and he's doing great.
He's happy they took good care of her. Diana thanks Max for finding her.

An ambulance comes for Fedora anyway.

Diana and Max talk to Mother Superior. Psychology 101 lecture: We learn that amnesia is a defense mechanism to forget something awful.

Gaviota is now in the hospital after having her stomach pumped. Gaby and Caramelo ask her why she took pills. She couldn't live without Paco and Diana. But she has Gaby and the baby who need you, says Caramelo. She says she can't fight anymore. She falls asleep. Kiki comes in. (You will see later and in tomorrow's episode that he seems to hang around hear like a fifth wheel. There's one funny scene that I can't resist commenting on from Thursday: During a crucial discussion between Paco and Caramelo, Kiki is caught in the background and keeps moving around uncomfortably. Why didn't the director stop the scene?)

In the Convent Diana and Max are told how a young man with a bullet wound found her. He was called "Billy."

Pancho shows up at the hospital. He wants to discuss marriage. Caramelo asks if he wants her or Paola.

Back at the convent, the nun opens the door to show them "Billy," but he has escaped.
They wonder if he was the one who kidnapped her. Diana and the Mother Superior have a long talk about how Diana is safe now.

Caramelo and Paco continue to argue. He claims that Paola is also his wife. If only wishing would make it so. Caramelo wonders how long he would keep this up. The hospital isn't the best place to discuss this. Blah, blah, blah.

Larry, Emilio and Yolanda learn that Max has found Diana. Debora realizes the jig may be up.

Yolanda mentions how she saw Paola on the beach. She should be there with the family and get out of the bigamy situation. Debora has a tantrum.

Paco now goes to the hospital. Gaviota wakes up and sees him. Paco, you came!

Thanks, Nina. If I got this wrong, someone please jump in and correct me:

Dr. Evil has a special crash-proof, waterproof cell phone that he used to call his friend, the Head Sadist at the Lost Manicomio-in-the-Middle-of-the-Jungle. This begs the question: Why didn't he use the Miracle Phone right after they crashed and have his friend send out a search party? Burning wreckage is usually a pretty good landmark. Anyhow, Iggy called the manicomio director, who found him and sent him back in a private plane. Apparently the LMMJ has a small fleet at its disposal. As far as we know, Real Marfil is dead. The last time we saw her, she was floating face-down in the river.

Our trusty pilot managed to radio a location before his heroic death, but how Max ended up at the convent is a good question. Given that he was at the shrine when he appeared, I just assumed it was an Act of God. I'm really disappointed that we didn't get a single manicomio scene.

As for Kique, I thought it was all about revenge. I'm not convinced that he feels more than lust for Little Doormat. But we shall see.

Wow, thanks, Alex. I guess some stuff really was left out. I agree, the failure to use the cell phone earlier is crazy. I don't believe Real Marfil will be dead, though. She'll probably rise from the sea. Maybe she'll be covered with seaweed and look like a zombie.

Oh, I like that idea. The Fiera of the Black Lagoon. That would make up for cheating us out of a manicomio sequence. Although I have to admit that it looked like Ignacio did a pretty through job on Marfil - underwater strangulation, he meant business.

If there's no body, then Marfil's destined to return. Probably just as Maxi turns his back on Diana when he realizes he really does love "Marfil" in the guise of Debbie who most certainly will have found a new desire for the Gimp, aka Andre.

[soapbox] Don't you love how the writers/directors seem to have turned the Panchaolamelo Triangle into a borderline comic thing - at least when Pancho is on screen? It's like they suddenly thought midstream, "Wow! We really made this guy into a jack ass. We should soften him up a bit. A bigamist is always more likeable when you play a little circus music and have him muse over his bad luck of marrying two women." [/soapbox]

Thanks updaters!

Thanks for the recap!! =)
