La Fea Más Bella #265 5/1/07 Everyone gets to be Impactado
Julieta smiles to herself and thinks “This man loves me!” She repeats this phrase to herself several times and then realizes that it was Lety’s phone that he called. “Who does he love?” She gets back on the line with the mystery man. Omar begs for her to say something, he only needs to hear her sweet voice. Julieta’s attitude has totally changed. She demands to know the name of the man on the other end of the line. Omar quickly hangs up the phone which leaves Julieta impactada once again. Julieta marvels to herself about this man calling Lety; her daughter has another suitor! Wait, that means there are three men after Lety. Julieta rushes from the room, determined to find Lety to talk to her.
Erasmo sits at the kitchen table and Julieta comes charging down the stairs. Julieta kisses Erasmo on the forehead. He wants to know where she’s going. Julieta lies and says she’s going to buy some stuff. Erasmo, the gentleman that he is, volunteers to take her but she says that there is no need for him to do that. Erasmo points out that she’s acting nervous. Julieta blows that off by saying she’s nervous because she doesn’t have all the ingredients for the meal she wants to prepare, “salsa de chile morita.” Julieta rushes out the door while Erasmo complains about women drowning in a vase of water. Here’s the recipe courtesy of Clay’s Kitchen:
Salsa de Chile Morita (Tipo Taquera)
¼ kg green tomato, peeled
50 g of morita chile
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup vinegar
1 cup water
Remove the stems from the chiles and soak the chiles for 20 minutes in ½ cup of water. Boil ½ cup of water and add the tomatoes. Bring to a boil again and cook for 5 minutes.
Grind tomatoes with remaining ingredients except the vinegar. Put the green tomato sauce mixture back in a pan and bring to a boil. Add the vinegar.
Fill bottles with the sauce leaving a centimeter of space between the mouth of the bottle and the cover. Close tightly and submerge in hot water for 20 minutes to sterilize the product. Cool to room temperature and store. The sauce should last approximately 8 months.
At Conceptos, Fernando enters Omar’s office and announces that he wants to congratulate Omar. Omar scolds Fernando for yelling; it gives Omar a headache. Fernando doesn’t understand how, considering Omar’s head is empty. Fernando reminds Omar that he did have a quite a bit of whiskey the night before. What did Omar expect? They quarrel a little over the actual quantity of whiskey. Omar gives up and wants to know why Fernando offers his congratulations. Fernando yells one more time and then asks Omar about apologizing to Lety. Omar explains that the only reason he did so was to clean his conscience. Fernando plays on the desk with Omar’s pencils (Seriously, this is an office, did Televisa just not have a pen budget?) and remarks about how Aurora has really made Omar think carefully. Fernando’s really not a bad pencil/desk player. If he ever enters a beauty contest, that can be his talent! (That and smiling…and looking weepy…and singing…ummm…back to the show!) Omar explains that he learned not to use people, especially women. Fernando says he doesn’t believe Omar but he’ll wait and see if this new theology pans out over time. Omar swears that he is depressed. He begs Fernando to do him a favor. Fernando agrees and then answers the ringing phone. It’s Sara and she has a gentleman on the phone named Pablo Cantu who wants to do a campaign for a company called Retromode. This must be good news considering the look on Fernando’s face.
Alicia’s in Tomas’s office, trying to get him to buy her some new clothes. He doesn’t want her to look like a charity case when she meets his mother! Tomas says she could never look like she needs charity, no matter what clothes she has. That’s right Tommy, because you’re fiancée looks like a stripper/hooker and I think they have to make at least $100.00 an hour! Tomas even volunteers for them to go somewhere private where she can take off all her clothes and show Tomas how much she loves him. Alicia is shocked, just shocked. This is what Tomas really wants from her! Tomas denies that he just wants to make the most of the situation. All he wants is a little taste of their life together. Alicia remembers that horrific night some time ago when she and Tomas slept together. Here’s the webaddress for the summary http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2006/12/lfmb-fri-128-163-desgraciados-boobs.html (if it doesn’t work it’s the summary from 12/8) . She tells Tomas not to even dream about it. They will not make love until the honeymoon, and not before that time! Tomas wants to know why, but Alicia pretends to be a classy woman who wants to be chaste and pure for the marriage bed. She tells him that he’s making her mad, and to make her happy he needs to buy her some clothes. Tomas agrees to do just that.
Fernando hangs out with Lety in her office. He explains about Pablo Cantu and the campaign. Lety remarks that Retromode’s clothing is a lot like what Aurora wears. (Hopefully, not the mermaid dress from last night.) Fernando pauses for a moment and Lety attempts to explain, but they decide to move on to another topic. Fernando wants the company to hurry and put together a presentation for the campaign. This campaign will really aid in paying off some of the debt that Conceptos owes Aldo. Lety loves this. The pair goofily smile at each other for just a moment, but they’re interrupted by the phone. Fernando rushes to his office to answer the phone.
I was mercifully spared 16 full minutes of Fea without having to see or hear Mr. Farrah Fawcett. You know how the saying goes, if it’s too good to be true. Well, he’s in Lety’s office and he looks unhappy. He walks in and hands Lety something that looks like a rolled up magazine. Next, he asks Lety to smack him and points to his forehead. Umm…umm…umm…it’s just too easy. Instead of smacking Alpo, Lety kisses him on the forehead and says that he’s forgiven. (Lety, you sappy bitch!) Farrah just loves this and pulls her around the desk. He thanks her and says that he promises not to be so jealous and possessive. Lety leans in to kiss him, but he doesn’t think they’re in the right place to do that. Aldo asks her to go for a walk because he has something important to tell her. She asks if she may have a kiss out there. Aldo agrees to give her a kiss outside. They leave.
Fernando leaves his office and yells after them to leave. He kicks the desk, hurts his toe and limps back to his office.
At the clothing store Tomas is impactado about the prices on the clothing. He wanders from rack to rack checking out the tags. He walks up to the dressing room and tells Alicia that this store is way to expensive. Alicia bursts out of the dressing room and tells Tomas that she decided to buy all of the clothing in her hands. He gasps to himself.
Fernando sits in his office and analyzes the budget. He overhears Julieta enter Lety’s office. Fernando calls Julieta to his office and she gladly enters with a hug and kiss. Fernando offers her his chair. They share some pleasantries. Julieta tells him that she really needs to speak with Lety. Fernando says that, unfortunately, he doesn’t know where Lety is but he’s sure she’s not in the building. Julieta asks about who accompanied Lety. Fernando replies that she left with Aldo. Julieta sighs and tells Fernando that she has a question for him. She asks if he’s gone out with her daughter the last couple nights. Fernando confirms that he has not. Next, Julieta asks if he’s noticed Lety acting strange lately. Fernando agrees that he noticed this. Julieta asks Fernando to tell Lety that she came by to see her daughter. Fernando agrees and they part ways.
Aldo and Lety go for a walk outside of Conceptos. Aldo tells Lety he thinks that it would be a good idea for them to buy a wedding present for Tomas and Alicia. Needless to say, Lety doesn’t wanna. Aldo tells Lety that Tomas is her best friend; she should support him. Besides, she can buy a gift that Alicia won’t use or enjoy; like, they could get them a stove or a washing machine or an iron. They giggle about their witiness. Lety says she knows what she’s going to buy the couple, but she doesn’t tell Aldo what her gift will be. Next comes the mushiness. Lety strokes the Farrah hair and tells Aldo that he’s handsome. Aldo calls her beautiful in return. They giggle and baby talk.
Alicia hands the salesman the clothing and says that she wants it all. Tomas takes the clothes from his hands and reminds her that she said that she only wanted one outfit. Alicia takes back the clothes and hands it back to the salesman. The pair argue about the amount of clothing to buy; the poor salesman gets stuck in between the war of the “blondes.” Alicia wins by pretending to cry.
Fernando leads the real estate agent into his office. The agent tells Fernando that there is a buyer for the house. Fernando ignores him and looks over the budget. When the agent says he can come back at a better time, Fernando acknowledges him and shakes hands. Once the agent repeats about having a buyer, Fernando ignores him again. Finally, Fernando turns to the agent and finds out that there is a buyer for the house. Fernando explains that he still needs to look for an apartment and then he’ll move out of his house. The agent replies that the buyer wants to move in as soon as possible. The agent offers to wait for another buyer, but Fernando rejects this and says that he’ll try to move out quickly. The agents asks if this means he may close the deal. Fernando says that of course it means that. Fernando asks the man to tell him all about the sale of the house, and then absentmindedly shuts the door behind the agent. Once Fernando sits at his desk, he wonders to himself how the whole sale of his house is going to go down.
Lety enters Tomas’s office and gives him a present to open. She gives him an apron. Lety jokes that she gave it to Tomas so that he can attend to his woman. Tomas half laughs. Lety congratulates him for real and wishes him happiness. Tomas rushes around the desk and hugs his best friend. Tomas sits down for a serious talk. He asks Lety if she thinks his mom will accept Alicia. Lety looks a little worried.
Fernando enters the vortex and asks the Tropical Rainforest (Saimon’s nickname for PM) if she knows Lety’s whereabouts. PM points to Lety walking through the room. Fernando stops her and shows her the new budget for the campaign. Lety and Fernando leave for Luigi’s office.
Lety barges into Luigi’s office. He tells her that she needs to learn to announce herself instead of just waltzing into the office. He needs to prepare himself for all the platypusness! Lety boo’s at him and he jumps. Luigi takes a shot at Fernando by calling him a small lizard in dirty water, but Fernando jumps straight into business. After some banter, Lety explains that Conceptos will be producing a campaign for Retromode thanks to Fernando. Luigi applauses Fernando for finally doing something. Lety explains that Fernando came up with a budget, but now they need to do something to wow the client. They need Luigi to demonstrate why Conceptos won the prize at Cannes. Luigi says he can do it as long as Lety promises not to limit him in any way. Lety swears on the word of the platypuses. Luigi and Lety start to converse, but Fernando rushes her out of the office.
Once they’re out of the office, Fernando tells Lety that he doesn’t think he’s doing a good job as her assistant. Lety reminds him that he’s more than an assistant. Fernando explains that he forgot to tell Lety that her mom came urgently looking for her. Lety worries that something is wrong with her dad. Fernando says it’s not that. Her mom is worried about Lety. Julieta asked if he was going out with Lety at night. Lety gives the lame excuse that she’s been out with you know who. She buries her eyes into her cell phone and says that she really needs to call Caro to talk about the project. Fernando scolds her and tells Lety to be sincere. Something is up and he wants to know what. Lety tries to rush past Fernando, but he grabs her. They get “thisclose” but Luigi exits his office just in time to interrupt. Luigi squeals and they quickly pull away.
Fernando enters Omar’s office and finds Omar admiring a photo of Aurora. Fernando scolds Omar and then announces that he, Fernando, obtained a project for Conceptos. Omar pleads with Fernando to leave him alone. Fernando agrees to do so, but first he sexily leans over Omar’s desk (Oh, to be that desk!) and tells Omar that he’s lost his grace. Omar repeats the word back at Fernando and they giggle about it. Now I think Fernando might be playing on words & referring to Greta Garbo . Omar reminds Fernando that Fernando was the first to jump ship and become an idiot for a woman. Fernando accepts this. Omar thinks that Fernando abandoned him, and now it’s Fernando’s fault that Omar lost Aurora. Well, Fernando now thinks they’re even since Fernando lost Lety because of Omar. They “shake” hands on it. They argue over whose loss was worse. Omar laments days gone by when they both were great conquers of women. They argue over who is the bigger fool. Fernando thinks they should just forget about women, period. They decide to celebrate.
That night, Lety comes home to Julieta sitting in Lety’s darkened bedroom. Julieta immediately tells Lety about the phone call. Lety says that she can explain. Julieta thinks that would be great, as long as Lety tells the truth. Julieta gets in Lety’s face and asks her about where she’s been going at night. Lety replies that she’s been leaving to see a man. Julieta is impactada.
Ah, the meeting of the mother! Alicia walks into Tomas’s house and is greeted by his mother. They asks each other who the other is and after some problems figuring out who is who, Alicia asks for Tomas. Alicia tries to enter, but Tomas’s mom blocks her. Tomas passes and comes running to Alicia and tells his mom that this is his woman. His mother comments that this woman is way to “grandota” to be his woman. Now, I couldn’t find a translation for grandota, but I did find a school book called “Cerdota Grandota/How Big is Your Pig.” Very fitting, no? Tomas introduces Alicia to his mother. She gapes her mouth in surprise.
Alicia introduces herself and gives her little speech about six semesters blabbity, blabbity, blah. Tomas’s mom answers by saying that Tomas had six years of primary school. Alicia half smiles and tells Tomas’s mom that she (Alicia) is many things that his mom won’t understand. Tomas’s mom gets a “chica, what” face. Tomas pulls Alicia into the house and stations her on the couch. Alicia demands a coffee, but Tomas’s mom will have none of it. She tells Tomas to get Alicia out of the house. Tomas tries to placate his mom. The women argue through Tomas. Tomas explains that Alicia came to ask for his hand. Tomas’s mom says that he will never marry that woman. Alicia feigns offense and gets up to leave. Tomas chases her and re-seats her on the couch. Alicia gets up to leave, and Tomas’s mom holds him from following Mrs. Ferreira. Mom tells Tomas that he’s lost television privileges, but Tomas just doesn’t care. She has him put out his hands so she can smack them.
Julieta can’t believe what her daughter just said. Lety asks her mom to let her explain; it’s really not that bad. Lety reminds her mother of Omar’s letter. She’s found a way to teach him a small lesson. Julieta thinks this might not be bad, but she want’s to know exactly how it’s went down. Lety explains that she sort of fell into it by accident. Julieta is relieved. Lety asks for a favor. She needs help with something for Aldo.
Fernando sits in his home with Omar and some of Omar’s “friends.” Instead of talking to the women, they reminisce about the old days when they would dance and seduce women like that. They also discuss they’re lack of libido. The women just look bored. The men move on to a more interesting topic – “Karate Kid.” Since Fernando doesn’t have a television anymore, they talk about playing a game of “matatenas” or “jacks.” The women stand in another part of the room and talk about how boring the men are. They want to leave and go have some fun. The women leave, but the men don’t really care. Fernando mentions in passing that it would be a good idea for the men to live together.
In the Mora household, Mrs. Mora watches TV and tells Tomas to close his eyes because he’s not allowed to watch TV. Tomas replies that he doesn’t care. He walks over to his mom and begs her to forgive his woman and to give Alicia a chance. Tomas is sure that his mother will like Alicia. Mrs. Mora replies that you only need to look once at some people in order to know how they are. Tomas begs some more, but his mom is more interested in the TV.
The days move faster now, and we’re treated to another Aldo-Lety moment. Lety explains that Luigi is now working on the campaign. Aldo’s interested, but he has to excuse himself to go to the restaurant. Lety fishes for a kiss, but Aldo won’t give it up to her. She asks him if he’s busy tonight. He says that he’s not and asks if this means she wants to go somewhere. In the cave, Fernando listens into the conversation and hopes that Lety doesn’t want to go anywhere. Guess what; she doesn’t. She wants to spend time at her house. Fernando pumps his fist in victory. Lety says she has something for Aldo, but she won’t tell him until that night. She tells Aldo to bring his father. He tries to get it out of her, but she’s not budging. Fernando sits in his office and wonders.
Alicia enters Tomas’s office. He excitedly tells her that it took a lot of work, but his mother will give Alicia another opportunity. Alicia scoffs at this. She says that Tomas should just forget about the wedding. Tomas doesn’t think it’s a good idea to rush to this decision. Alicia replies that it wasn’t rushed; she thought about it way before she even met him. The phone rings; Lety wants to see Tomas in her office. Tomas excuses himself and tells Alicia to think about it. Alicia talks to herself and then picks up Tomas’s check. Once she sees how much he makes, her mind suddenly changes.
Once Tomas enters her office, Lety asks him to come to her house that night. Tomas says that depends if his woman will come. He needs to take her to see his mother. Lety worries about this encounter. Tomas tells Lety that the first round was last night. Lety again asks Tomas to be in her house that night. Tomas agrees and flees the office.
Fernando exits his office. He tells her that he can hear everything she says from in there. She reminds him that she heard everything when she worked in that office. Fernando nervously laughs. Fernando points out that Lety is going to have a party at her house. Lety stiffens and says that she would invite him, but she doesn’t think he would like it. Fernando says that he loves going to Lety’s house and hearing Erasmo’s stories about Uncle Lazaro. Lety tries to explain herself, but Fernando interrupts and says that he understands. He goes back to his office.
The instant he passes the threshold of his office, his whole face changes. Gone is happy Fernando; present is pissed/unhappy Fernando. Lety doesn’t look overjoyed either. Her mother knocks on the door and enters. Julieta sits and explains to Lety that she thought things over after their conversation last night. She thinks that Lety needs to think, because she’s hurrying things. Fernando, hearing his number one ally, cracks the door of the office to listen. Julieta thinks that Lety is still confused and may regret her actions later. Lety assures her mother that she knows what she’s doing. Julieta reminds Lety that for the last few months Lety thought that Fernando was the love of her life. Fernando smiles. Julieta tells Lety to accept that she’s confused and that she may have been wrong thinking that she is in love with Aldo. Lety and Fernando are impactados!
Mañana:Mrs. Feirrera v. Mrs. Mora part II?
Will Lety take Julieta's desperately needed advice?

I haven't posted too much lately because honestly this show was bringing me down since the whole retraction of the marriage proposal and the Aldo-Lety thingee, but I have to admit the last two episodes have been fantastically funny. I just love Fernando and Omar (actually typed lust instead of just at first, must be Fraudian). Their scenes and humor crack me up.
The whole scene with the women at Fer's house was just too funny and then them suggesting renting a film--The Karate Kid. Wax on, wax off. My Zumba instructor actually used that as a reference in class tonight to show us a new arm movement. Couldn't believe two KK references in one night.
I posted this on Friday's recap, but it was the last posting so I thought I'd put it out there again:
"Couple of questions....this site that is selling La Fea on DVD, is it reputable? I am seriously considering buying it, so when I jones for Jaime I'll have a lot to choose from, but I don't want to get ripped off. I know that 35 discs is quite the commitment, but I'm willing to commit to that for Jaime ;-)
Also, Julie there was mention made of a link to your earlier post on Fern and Lety's nights together, what day was that link posted? I must have missed it and would definitely like to go back and review the earlier days. Still afraid to go to YouTube because I don't want the end to be spoiled.
Any more details on the Cristina taping?"
I wouldn't recommend a DVD site that's already selling La Fea. The DVD hasn't been released so I would guess that those DVD are someone who recorded it off TV & compiled all of the episodes. You'll be giving your credit card number to a private person and there's no guarantee as to the quality.
Also, which "time" for Lety and Fernando would you like? The first time is the 8/21-8/22 episode; the second is 9/4-95.
As for the Cristina show, per K the show will be on 5/23 in Miami. Tickets are free, but K wasn't sure how to get them. There are a few of us who have talked about going down, but I haven't heard anything in the last few days.
wasn't much information so I called the number (evidently they live a few towns away from me)
and I asked if there were any captions and he said
no spanish or english captions. They make them
'themselves, he explained. I told them I didn't want
them and would he refund my money. He said he would and I called my credit card company and the $150.00 was credited to my account. They were nice
but I'm not sure of what quality they would be and I
need my captions. Hope that info helps.
Welcome to 5ftlatina. Good job last night.
Just a thought, Erasmo was such a gentleman offering to accompany Julieta to the store, but when the doorbell rings at night, it is Julieta who answers. Hmmm. :)
Did anyone wonder what happened to the house that Fernando's parents bought for his wedding to Marcia? Maybe he can go live there!!
As always thanks for the wonderful recaps.
- Based on context and usage, I think grandota = "highfalutin'" but I wouldn't put money on that.
- I too was disappointed when Lety didn't take Aldo up on his offer to smack him, but she's still not telling him the truth about her nightly Aurora gig, so I'm not so happy with her either.
- Since when does Aldo think Lety's office isn't a suitable place to kiss? Ah, I bet he just doesn't want Fern to walk in on them because then Lety would immediately remember what a real kiss is like and that would be the end of Aldo.
- That remark about getting Alicia a stove was probably the funniest thing Aldo has ever said on this show. Progress!
- Just when I think Aldo might be a tiny bit funny, Fernando calls PM by Saimon's nickname for her, and I realize, nope, Fern's definitely the funny one.
- Televisa's pencil budget. I noticed the same exact green pencils in Aaron's pencil cup on Destilando Amor a few weeks ago. Bright green is NOT the generic color of any major pencil brand in the US or Mexico. Faber-Castell makes a lot of green pencils, but they're dark green. Yes I actually did look into this. I'm kind of a maniac that way. :) So what I'm saying is that these are probably Televisa pencils. I don't know why they couldn't have had pens made instead.
- Someone involved with this show must have a thing for Karate Kid. It's at least the second time they've referred to it (the first time was when Luigi called one of the Filmo-Imagen's lawyers "Mr. Miyagi"). I realize two references over a many-month period doesn't seem like a lot, but how many other films have they referenced even once?
- A long while back, someone posted a recipe (or a link to one) for some sort of pigs' feet thing that Alicia ate the night that Aldo didn't propose to her. Anyone remember when/where/what so I can find it?
- Thanks for the link to the 12/8 recap - I had forgotten how much fun that one was to do. Not only Alicia and Tomas in bed, but also the nightmare sequence, and Marcia's drunken, infuriated phone call to Fern. (Her forehead seemed pretty much paralyzed at that time, unfortunately, but it's working much better now.)
I've also reached a point where I can't stand Tomas any more than the cuartel. He deserves whatever Alicia dishes out, no sympathy here! And that whole bit with his mother was just SO creepy (how old is his character supposed to be???). I hope others found it funnier than I did, I just kept thinking Freud would have a field day with this and EW! I know this is a comedy but... EW!
I like Aldo, still, but because of Lety's baby talk with him, I can no longer stand to watch his scenes unless they're with Fernando or his dad or anyone besides her.
Except for the Karate Kid scene, I didn't even really enjoy Fernando very much last night. For someone who's supposed to be his best friend, he sure treats Omar like crap. I thought it was unnecessarily cruel to keep yelling, knowing he was hung over. Yes, Omar brought it on himself by drinking too much, but he supposedly had a reason (broken heart, remember Fernando??? A little sympathy could have been nice).
I said it yesterday half-jokingly, but maybe I really do need a break from the show. Please please please let my vcr be working so I can start taping this and fast forward through those excrutiating Lety moments!
Does anyone know if they'll be releasing legitimate videos, and has anyone heard (or have experience with other telenovelas) if they'll have english subtitles? While this is currently painful to watch, I'd love to be able to go back and see the shows I missed (I didn't start watching till Lety was already in Acapulco).
Sorry to be such a downer, hopefully tonight will be better.
Kim P.
I would have expected Fer and Omar to pick up a better class of women.
C'mon guys, you don't live out in the sticks with slim pickings available. Those girls were skanky and stupid looking.
Yeah, what's up with Aldo not wanting to kiss Lety at the office now? Is he finally being considerate of Fernando's feelings?
Pobrecito Fernando, putting on a brave face with Lety. He's just dying inside. :(
Can't wait to see him at Lety's estupida fiesta tonight; hope it gives Aldo heartburn and makes Lety squirm.
Kim P.
In spite of the lengthy comment I left earlier, I hated a lot of this episode (it's just that I liked the recap). The baby-talk was excruciating, and if you get that VCR working again, I promise you will not be sorry. You'll still roll your eyes as you FF through awful scenes, but at least you won't have to roll them as long.
I assume there will be a non-pirate DVD version, but I don't know when, or if it will be a condensed version or what. I know it takes a while to put these things together. I've heard that some of the novelas do get released with English captions, and given the popularity of this show in the US, I would certainly expect this to be one of them.
I have been thinking about the DVD thing, though, and how I would do it (if it were up to me) in order to make it as affordable (i.e. fewer disks) and entertaining as possible:
1. Remove the most useless filler scenes and throw them away. I think we are in at least 90% agreement as to what constitutes a useless filler scene: idle chatter and/or rehashing that provides no new information or entertainment.
2. Do one or more montages of humorous but otherwise useless filler moments. For example, a rehash scene between Fern and Omar might include a funny pun-off or an amusing fight for the Big Chair. That's all montage material. Put it on the "bonus disk."
3. Put all of the guest stars performing their hit songs on the bonus disk too.
4. Remove and set aside all of the non-filler scenes that aren't directly related to the main storyline. I.e., Tomas and the HaHa's; Lola and El Cheque; Alicia's descent into poverty; Eduardo/Luigi/Alicia; Martha's liposuction, ETC. Re-edit all these story lines into discrete episodes or featurettes, and put them on another disk.
5. Take what's left of the main storyline and edit without mercy. Show the happy times between Fern and Marcia; Lety's naivete and whatnot in the early days, along with her crush on Fern and the mad scheme that grew out of that; etc. etc. The best comedy moments would still be left intact (or included in montages), but the focus would be on the plot, and the pace would be dramatically different.
For example, something like the whole Pilar/Vicki Form story would be done in about 15 minutes. You'd have to include some of it to explain why Fern and Lety didn't get it on while Marcia was in Germany, but most of the grueling details of Pilar being a PIA could be skipped.
Anyway, that's just my idle thoughts as to what would make a great LFMB dvd set. :)
The fact that i can obsess over pencils shows how draggy this show is getting. Alicia/MamaMoro/ Tomas creepy all the way around.
Lety and her baby talk is absolutely nauseating. Aldo is supposedly in his early to mid 30's and what man wants to be around a baby talking fool. The next thing we know she'll be lisping. Bleah!
Love the relationship between Julieta and Fern and her being smart enough to warn Lety that she may be (is) making a mistake with Dr. Phil.
Omar and Fern are priceless together moaning about their women problems inviting girls over to the house and ignoring them. Looks like Omar may finally be growing up and I don't blame Fern for giving him a dose of his own medicine.
I really like your idea Julie regarding the LFMB DVD. You may actually get part of your wish in that Televisa does edit these things a great deal (I have the "Alborada" DVD and do you believe they cut out the scene where Fernando Colunga shows his beautiful torso? In that case, I feel, the editor should have been fired. What was s/he - and I have to wager it was a man as most women would have known to leave that scene in- thinking?) While LFMB was popular, I think the creators know we fans did get tried of their filler and basically want to see Fernando and Lety in love. And the antics of Fern and Omar too (I like them so much. There is something so appealing about handsome men who can be silly.) Perhaps someone from Televisa will be lurking and take notes on your post!!

I've actually been a little surprised that Aldo has dropped all of his bend her over the desk moves lately. I certainly don't think it is because he has any respect for Fern's feelings but maybe Lety's constant pushing herself at him like she has been lately is turning him off. I keep remember how much of an aggressor she was with Fern.

Okay, so much for that theory. It's even funnier that his mom looks just like him. I just hadn't realized it would be possible. That actress was awesome. She treats herself to churros and chocolate while forbidding him to watch TV. No wonder he spends all his free time at Lety's. :)
I have an idea that from the previews he's going to have either a very sad or crying scene when he pops up at Lety's house.
I remote away from Lety & Aldo and their groping scenes..They are so lame being constantly in each other's faces with "sweet nothings" they talk about.Lety cannot be in her office two seconds until here comes Aldo..Wait 'til he finds out Aurora is Lety..
Folks don't buy the DVD from the various scam artists..You'll be able to buy from Televisa in the future getting the real thing, other than a composite taken from YouTube.
I'm glad to see Fern and Omar are buddies again. They have great chemistry together.
I couldn't believe Tomas and his mama. Not being that familiar with the culture, I wondered if it were typical in Mexico for the mother to be so domineering over the son?
Does the parent have to approve the choice of the child's partner?
Thanks so much Amanda!!!
Carrie L.
I'm also incredibly grateful that I got to skip all the baby talk between Lety and Aldo.
I ordered the DVDs from telenovelasrus and received the first 35 episodes yesterday. I watched the first episode and was pleasantly surprised by the video quality--not as perfect as a Televisa "factory-fresh" dvd but it was good--much better than copying from tivo or the satellite dvr onto videotape.

I would love to order that now, because I never got to see the first four months. I could start catching up now in earnest instead of the piecemeal way I've been trying to do it on You Tube.

go to www.peopleenespanol.com
It has the list, and pictures of many of the Bellas y Bellas.
Angelica Vale, Jamie Camil and Sergio Mayter from LFMB are on the list. To me, Sergio isn't bello; I'd choose Águstin Arana instead, but they didn't ask me :)
I buy "People en Español" at grocery stores in/near Hispanic neighborhoods.
Good luck!

I wanted to correct my post about the DVDs from novelasrus. I just counted them, and there are 35 DVDs (with 5 episodes each), so that makes 175 episodes total in this batch. By the way, they cut the commercials out (at least from the episode I watched).

can someone fill me in, i must have missed something..
why is thomas marrying la oxi, or shall i say- why did the Oxi give in? last I remember she hated him
and
why is beyonce on the People list
Alicia is marrying Tomas because she's homeless and needs money.
As for Beyonce on the peopleneespanol list... Who knows. She's even on the cover! From what I've gathered at latingossip.com, the reaction has not been a good one.
I was actually hoping they might be working on a "Yo Soy Bea" collection, since there doesn't seem much chance that that would ever be released commercially here and I'd really like to see it. (European DVDs aren't playable in the US.)
Since it might be too late for you to read this hear, I'll post this to tomorrow's recap as well.

Thanks!
As a sort of grammatical side note, Spanish is big on endings that modify or add something to the meaning of the word that you stick them onto; for example, "-(c)ita/(c)ito": small, or affective "-ucho/-ucha": despecative "-illo/illa": small, despecative. So, for example, from casa, you get casita: little house or dear little house, casucha: run-down old shack; or from hombre, hombrecillo; silly little man.
Thus grandota, "big" (especially around the chest level in Alicia's case).
Supposedly they gave Beyonce an "honorary" Latina title due to the fact that she has embraced the culture. It's really strange. There are people like Shakira or the gorgeous Caro from La Fea that should have made that list. And don't even get me started as to why Antonio Banderas isnt on it.
