La Fea Más Bella #294B 6/12/07 Serendipity

Carmina tells Aldo that she’s sorry. She knows how much he loves Lety and that he’s suffering. Aldo replies that he feels empty, as though life has ended. Carmina reminds him that he doesn’t deserve this. She will do whatever to help him. Aldo’s cryptic reply is that pain is part of life. He never thought he would suffer like this again. Carmina asks him what he’s going to do. He responds that he’s not of the mind to think about that right now. Carmina thinks that if Lety didn’t know how to appreciate Aldo, then there’s no reason to suffer because of her. Aldo absently says that Lety never stopped loving Fernando. Aldo thanks Carmina for coming. She asks if they’ll see each other tomorrow. “Who knows if I will be here tomorrow. I want so very much to be in Acapulco. So very much.” Carmina kisses him on the head and takes her leave.

Fernando comes home and Marcia immediately asks him to listen to her latest love letter. “Neither the light nor the most pure sound not even the most extraordinary landscape competes with your beauty because for me your are the light, the sound and the scenery.” Marcia looks pretty happy. Fernando thanks Marcia, thinking she wrote it for her. She tells him no and then asks if he thinks it’s nice. His facial expression doesn’t change so she asks him to at least say if he didn’t like it or thought it was pretentious. Fernando still doesn’t respond so Marcia asks him about what’s going on. Before he answers she says that she knows. He’s sad because his friend, Omar, moved in with Caro. Fernando didn’t know this and can’t believe that Omar would leave without at least leaving a Carvajalmark. Marcia replies that Omar only took ten minutes to pack. Maybe because he was worried that Caro would change her mind. Marcia tells Fernando not to worry, because they’ll see Omar everyday in the office. Fernando says that he’s happy for Omar but feels bad for Caro, then he corrects and says that he’s happy for the two of them. Marcia can tell that something is still wrong. Fernando replies that it’s an important moment and he doesn’t want to allow an opportunity to pass him. He says that something happened with Lety that is a sign. He would really like to get Lety back and with the way things are going this might be a good moment. Fernando half smiles.

It’s daybreak again in Mexico City and Lety’s in her office reading a newspaper about how she, the ugly executive, is Aurora. Fernando takes the paper from her and reads the article out loud. Lety thinks the article is correct. She’s the ugliest of the ugliest. Fernando disagrees and says that she’s the most beautiful of all. Lety thanks him for saying that to make her feel better, but she really thinks of herself as horrendous. Fernando’s mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore! He points to the picture of Lety and says look at this beautiful woman. He looks at where he’s pointing and switches to Aurora’s photo. Lety says she’s not Aurora, she’s Lety. The ugly one who no one will love. Fernando says that he fell crazy in love with her, and he continues to be crazy in love with her.

The cuartel looks at the pictures in the newspaper. Sara comments that she can’t believe they chased this woman. Irmita says that one never knows for whom she works. Sara says that this is like a fairy tale. The women talk about the changes between the women that Lety had to make. Irmita brings up the kiss between Aurora and Inocencio. Even Sara thinks it was hell of a kiss. Irmita says that those two are crazy in love. She wonders when Lety will realize that she really loves Don Fernando.

Carmina enters Conceptos and heads directly for Lety’s office. Lola tries to stop her but Carmina says that she had to speak with Lety. Lola leaves the office and Fernando stands. Carmina apologizes for entering like that, but she needed to speak with Lety. Carmina gets right to the point and tells Lety that Aldo has told Carmina what Lety did. Lety is impactado. Carmina continues and says that Aldo called her last night and that Lety cannot imagine what Carmina had to do to console him. Lety says that she can imagine. Lety starts to explain, but Carmina interrupts. She doesn’t want to judge; she just wants Lety to stay calm. Aldo left for Acapulco. Lety says that she needs to talk to Aldo. Carmina tells Lety that he doesn’t want to see her ever again. Lety says that if he went to Acapulco, she will go look for him. Carmina says that she wishes that Lety would leave Aldo alone. Lety replies that she and Aldo need to talk. Carmina says that she prohibits it. She, Carmina, is going today to Acapulco to live with Aldo!

Fernando talks to God. Only God knows how much he loves Lety. Could this be his opportunity to get her back? Fernando defends his Lety and rushes Carmina out of the office. Lety collapses into her chair. She can’t believe that woman is going to live with Aldo in Acapulco. Carmina comes charging back into the office and holds up the newspaper. Carmina tells Lety not to worry because Carmina will make Aldo happy. Fernando once again pushes her out of the office. When he returns, Fernando grips hands with a crying Lety.

Seriously, why would they play the happy Acapulco music at this moment? Anyway, Aldo stands against a half wall holding the newspaper. Aldo says that he should have told Lety that he left, but he was just so disillusioned. The man in the restaurant thinks this is reasonable. Aldo talks about planning his wedding, but the man thinks Aldo should focus on other things like the restaurant. Aldo says that it’s time for him to get back the restaurant and he’s still not happy.

Fernando tells Lety that he’s never said a word and that’s important. Erasmo’s voice comes in from the Vortex. He does not want to be announced. Julieta tries to hold him back, but he slams the newspaper on the desk and demands to know that it means. Lety starts to reply, but Erasmo says there is no way to justify it. Fernando interrupts Erasmo’s tirade and says that Erasmo has no right to scold or judge his daughter. Erasmo replies that Lety is his daughter, and that gives him the right. Fernando agrees that Erasmo has rights as a father, but he won’t listen to Lety’s reasons. Fernando volunteers to explain it all. Erasmo wants to not what gives Fernando the right to explain it. “Because I love your daughter!” Fernando replies. Fernando then stumbles and tries to get Julieta to help him. Fernando backs off and allows Erasmo to continue. Erasmo says he’s waiting for a response.

Now it’s Omar looking at the newspaper, and he’s shaking. Marcia tells him that she didn’t believe it either. Sara reads directly from the article talking about Lety converting into the beautiful woman. Omar yelps out that he cannot believe it. Caro pulls Marcia aside and says that she’s really nervous. Luigi also has the newspaper, and he’s just as incredulous as Omar. He thinks this is against the laws of aesthetics.

Fernando’s talking again. He tells Erasmo that Lety did it all for love. Fernando catches himself and is silent once again. Erasmo says that love has caused the worst injustices in history. Luigi, Caro and Omar enter the office. Luigi accuses Lety of having a pact with the devil. He wants to know how she did it. Omar talks next. He thanks Lety. Erasmo wants to know why. Omar explains that Lety taught him a good lesson. He discovered that life is not frivolous. He now values women and has fallen in love with an incredible woman. Luigi squeals. Erasmo says that he had no idea that Aurora did so many things. Fernando replies that Erasmo cannot even imagine how many problems Aurora solved for the company. Julieta asks Erasmo to forgive his daughter. Erasmo does so and tells Lety that she has his love. Lety and Fernando look at each lovingly. The “boink” apart when the phone rings.

It’s Jacks on the phone. Jacks tells Fernando to enjoy this moment because no other program will go on air with as much expectation as this one. Fernando says that he’s going to tell the truth. He’s fed up and he doesn’t support this at all! Jacks seems surprised, but he laughs anyway. Jacks reminds Fernando that Conceptos will reap a fortune from this. Fernando says that doesn’t matter to him. Jacks says that as a businessman, Fernando should be more cold. Fernando replies that he used to be like that, and he lost the woman that he loved. Fernando says that it was very egotistical of Jacks to publish that article. Fernando accuses Jacks of ruining Lety’s life. Jacks replies that wasn’t his intention. He says that he’s sorry. Fernando says that this doesn’t fix anything, Lety’s still destroyed.

Everyone in Lety’s office overhears Fernando’s tongue lashing. Julieta thinks that he’s incredible. Irmita agrees. Erasmo says that Aldo loves Lety more. Marcia wisely says that Lety, Aldo and Fernando need to fix their own problems. Julieta agrees, but she likes Fernando defending his daughter. Juana points out that Aldo is not even here. Lety interjects and says that they might never see Aldo again. He went to Acapulco. Everyone’s shocked. Fernando enters and notices the tension. He rushes everyone out of the office. He runs to Lety to get her to go watch the show as well. He pushes her chair and then takes her by the hand.

The whole cast watches the kissing episode. It went well and everyone applauds, except Lety. Fernando comforts her.

Aldo and the man shake hands. Aldo has officially re-purchased his restaurant. He thanks the man for taking care of “The Flavor of Life.” I’m surprised Aldo didn’t try to rename Lety “The Flavor of Life”! The man wishes Aldo luck. Another man congratulates Aldo for being the owner of the property. (Anyone else notice that this is Aldo’s office in Conceptos minus the boat and a few other decorations?) Aldo thinks this is incredible. A talk show comes on air talking about the new show, “Corazon, Corazon.”

Thank you so much Amanda for such a quick recap!
Fern is getting sweeter by the day. It seems that he has become a true friend to Lety.
I'm hoping she will begin to see him again as her true love but it looks like she may be on her way back to Aldo.

Whoa, blazing fast recap! Thanks, Amanda. And yes, I did think Aldo's restaurant office looked an awful lot like his Conceptos office.

I thought while I was away Aldo may have loosened up a bit, but he is still as sanctimonious as ever. How patronizing he was over Lety's reaction to the photo of him and Carmina, all but dismissing her as just a hysterical woman incapble of understanding reason. When the shoe is on the other foot, he refuses to listen to her or anyone and goes off to sulk - "I'm not mad, I'm just hurt and, oh, so noble in my anguish". Puh-leeze.

BTW, I totally get why everyone is calling Carmina "Stalker Chick". Presume much?

Fernando is a nice guy..but seriously how could anyone wish Lety on him? After tonite...I felt like I was watching a 80's John Hughes teen angst movie...I'm ugly no one will ever love me. Oh I love you..yeah but you don't count. Basically that is what she told Fernando..thanks but no thanks..and please the I am ugly...if it was a person who could see and was pretending to be blind..I doubt people would be so sympathic..The last moments said it all...she is thinking of Aldo..she does not want Fernando...Poor Aldo.
I so don't want Fernando in a Anthony Michael Hall role.

Will Univision show reruns of LFMB once all the episodes have been shown? I've just started watching it and I want to see it from the beginning...

Mil gracias for the instant recap. I came home and watched the tape of tonight's show, checked in with the computer and am now going to go re-watch the show, having been enlightened on the many details I missed. You guys, [recappers], are the greatest.

Kathy

Terrific recap. I think Luigi did more than squeal. I kept asking myself, what the hell is that noise.... more like the cat tail under the rocker....

I promised myself that I would not let this last week go by without thanking all of you, both recappers and commenters. Like many I couldn't wait each day to check this blog. For 2 decades I have made it my New Years resolution to "really learn" Spanish. After taking your suggestion and using the television caption titles and reading your re-caps I am astonished that now am 70-80% fluent. I am African American living in Los Angeles and have advised my Hispanic non-Spanish speaking friend to watch the novellas w/captions and read your blogs. Thank you for helping my finally resolve my New Years resolution. Now I can focus on those 20 pounds to loose. (Jamie "tan divino" stay in Hollywood, you've got what it takes to make it here, looks real talent and a broad appeal)

I thought it was so cute when Fernando pushed Lety in her chair. And he was very gallant in his defense of Lety, and it was the first time he had to confront Robopop!

As for Lety, once again, we have to blame the writers, who have constructed this silly plot and given her annoying things to do. Angelica Vale has really done a great job with the role, and with the addition of the Aurora role, she showed what a talent she is. Maybe we haven't been giving her enough credit because we have disliked what the character is doing.

As blog mom I'm so thrilled to hear from Sistah Val and the others who are THANKING our fine La Fea recappers for their work! Like everybody here, me included, they do it just for love. Sistah Val, that's exactly how I learned Spanish too, a few short years ago. Thanks to Univision. There's no other language we can all learn just by turning on our tv subtitles and kicking back and watching gorgeous people shag and stab each other while spouting off helpfully repetitive speeches.

St Loopey, yes Aldo's restaurant office did look a lot like his Conceptos office. I was wondering how he got back to Mexico City so fast. Did anyone notice how much Tomas & Alicia's apartment looked like Marcia's old apartment?
Thank you Amanda for a great recap as usual.

Wow...thanks for that biography. The Egyptian part I didn't know but that helps account for those burning liquid brown eyes...aiyiyi...here I go again and it's only 9 o'clock in the morning...get a grip, Judy!

Great recap!
I also started to watch La Fea back in September as a part of my Spanish learning tools and never missed an episode since ( thanks to DVR). At first I had to stop and check almost every other word ( that I felt is significant) and now I can even understnd the spoken words without checking the closed captions. Wow! I only found this blog about a month ago and follow it every day. Good job!
About last nite.
I watched the episode 3 times ( fast forwarding Aldo-stalker parts). It was great! I loved Carvahal's reaction and his speach. The Luigi's squicking was very funny. Hei, Luigi, remember when Lety told you that she Is Aurora and you laughed it off?
Loved Irmita's comment that Lety and Fern are madly in love and Lety finally has to recognize it. Julieta and Irmita always knew that these two belong to each other. Aldo finally got that too. And this is a real reason why he fled to Acapulco. Now the only person left is Lety. But we know - she almost there!
I really love this show and will miss it!

"Aldo talks about planning his wedding." Que the hell? Why is he talking about planning his wedding. I thought he ran off to el mar and away from his relationship with Lety.

Omar's hands shaking as he read the news about Aurora/Lety was so funny, as was Luigi's accusing Lety of "having a pact with the devil." Of course, Luigi would think that.

My favorite part of Fernando talking to Jacques was when he called him "Jacksie". Isn't it wonderful how he takes up for Lety all the time?

Carmina really has a lot of nerve attacking Lety. She is really an outsider to this relationship, so where does she come off saying "She prohibits it", speaking of Lety going to talk with Aldo. That girl has got more nerve.

I was going to wait to the grand final, but might as well say right now how much I appreciate and love all you recappers and commenters. You have added such joy to my life. THANKS BUNCHES!!!

Thanks, Amanda! Beckster, I am not happy with Lety and I definitely see what you are saying. I was so disappointed when I read in the recap that she called herself ugly and said nobody would ever love her. If that is what she really believes, the lack of confidence is such a turn off. And if she is saying it because she needs reassurances that Fern loves her, after all that has happened, that is just sad. She appears to have learned NOTHING. Nada. I think Aldo said that yesterday and after tonight, I have to say I agree with him! ALDO WAS RIGHT! (At least on this point.) I don’t know what I am supposed to feel for Lety, pity? I usually don’t like characters I pity. Lety is entertaining when she is being funny, but at other times, there is just nothing there. Sure she is basically a good person who cares about others, but most people are not evil and have this trait. That is not enough to make her deserving of Fern, who has grown in leaps and bounds while she has regressed. It is truly sad. I really hoped I would not feel this way in the final episodes. What a disappointment. Well, it has been nice to see Fern, Marcia and Omar all grow. It is far too late for any Lety growth to be convincing. I am ready to say good-bye to this show. I hope it wraps up this weekend. I will always be grateful that LFMB turned me on to Jaime and look forward to watching him in the future.

Teresa

This was so much fun. Everyone waving the newspaper in Lety's face.

I also noticed that Jacks's office looks a lot like Ariel's old office (how's that for a blast from the past).

I know I was supposed to be angry with Carmina last night, but all I could do was laugh at the prospect of her moving in with Aldo. As much as I would love for Aldo to take the easy way out, I can't imagine that he'd be happy to see Carmina on his doorstep with all of her stuff expecting him to let her move in based on one damp boat ride.

But if that's what he wants, that's okay with me too.

What’s interesting to me about FLMB vs. Betty la Fea is that it focuses much more on Lety’s learning to love herself. In the original show, the story was principally about the changes in Armando (now Fernando). Betty herself didn’t really change except for her makeover and her delight and surprise at her new look as well as her joy over catching the fabulous man she fell in love with. Betty herself knew all along that she had the intellectual chops to do the job and knew that she was a good person. She was pragmatic (though frustrated and disappointed) about how her looks affected others. The show basically was about how her goodness changed people around her.

LFMB is also about the lessons others learn from being around her, but it has the added element of having her be insecure and feeling unloveable. In the developments of the past few days, I’m guessing that her losing Aldo taps into the insecurity that has been written into the Lety character, which is why she is focusing on being La Fea more than on the fact that she made an error in judgment.

I agree that Angelica is doing a stupendous acting job, but I sure wish the Lety character hadn’t been envisioned as so….odd, instead of garden-variety geeky. All those tics make her kind of bizarre. And her dancing alone would be enough to douse the flames of the most burning passion.

An on-line TV guide shows La Fea scheduled for it's one/half hour slot through Friday, June 22. They show La Fea and then Yo Amo a Juan time schedules just as they are now. Whether that's correct or not is another question.

I also was disappointed with Lety's lame "I'm a fea and no one will ever love me" nonsense after she has had two galans fighting over her for quite some time. We all know she couldn't possibly think that. What's up?

Maggie, your comments about wishing they had left Lety as garden variety geeky instead of so odd with all those tics is so right on. They didn't need to add those extras and almost made the story unbelievable because what good looking, rich men would have fallen for such an oddball. Loved your comment about "Her dancing alone would be enough to douse the flames of the most ardent passion." So true!

Lety is obviously suffering from "fearexia"...the belief that she is fea and unloveable in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
And it is true that when we suffer a rejection (or seeming rejection) we go back to those old tapes in our head and play 'em again. Remember her quiceanera? What a nightmare! So I'm not surprised at her reactions, as written, even though yeah..they're tedious...and at this point we just want her and Fernando to get it on already!
And oh yes, I too was confused by Luigi's high-pitched squeal...thought there was a wounded animal outside our window. He surpassed Omar's yelps by several megadecibels.

Judy B.

Late yesterday, someone in the comments wished there could be a sequel. Unfortunately, when they tried that with the original Betty La Fea in Colombia, it was a big flop. Many, many months ago I found an archived site with recaps from the series - it was called EcoModa - and it did seem pretty dull. :(

Not sure if it was truly that bad, or if it only seemed like a letdown after the fun of the original series, but sometimes it's better to cherish the memories that you have rather than try to duplicate the magic.

I adore Fernando. His defending Lety against her own father and admiting that he loves her and taking on Jacks too. I love him so much. He has grown in leaps and bounds. Lety has to learn to love herself. She'll never be able to love anyone if she doesn't even love herself. Carmina was way outta line. I was so glad that Fernando threw her out of the office. I feel for Fernando. I think his feelings are going to be hurt again. He's thinking this is a opportunity to get Lety back and Lety is only thinking of Aldo. Of course she and Aldo just broke up and I really don't want her turning to Fernando on the rebound. Fernando deserves better than second best and Jaime is definitely a exotic beauty and a fellow cancerian. Love him. I will miss Fernando the most on the show. He's the main reason I'm still watching it now and hoping it will end right.

Thanks, Amanda!
sistah Val - yeah, I have those same 20 lbs. to lose, and sitting in front of the t.v. watching el divino Fernando, hasn't helped. Pero, vale la pena. It's worth it!

Judy B- "those burning liquid brown eyes" - LOL. It's a good thing we don't work together - nothing would get done, we'd be too busy rhapsodizing over los ojos. :)

OK - last night - Aldo was so sad. He may be a little controlling and self-righteous, but, darn, he's really hurting.

Lety is run by shame and guilt, & she wants Aldo back, to make up for the pain she's caused. Still, she's in love with Fernando, and afraid to give in to that. When she looks at him, she melts.
Change is scary for her, so those "fea" tapes in her head are working overtime to keep her stuck. I'm rooting for her.

I love Julieta and Irmita for being Fernando supporters. Wise women.

Fernando, so sweet, so vain. I laughed at him thinking Marcia has written about him.

Last night I felt just like a mother seeing her kids off to school for the first time and knowing that had grown up when Fern stood up to Jacksie and Robopop and when Omar made his speech. I will admit that for a while i was worried about Omar's reaction just like Caro was but he got it! Our spoiled little rich boy womanizes have turned into two fine loving men. Halleluja

Now if Lety could only fix herself and get over the fea BS. When SC stormed into the office like a bitch on wheels I thought Lety was too passive. She should have told her Aldo is my fiance, is planning our wedding and this is none of your business so get on your broom and get out. But no she has to try and explain. Instead of reverting to whinning Lety should have picked up the phone and called him and told him or his voice mail, you have so little respect for me you won't let me explain, you claim to love me but run away so obviously you don't, the cracker jack ring is in the mail so get on your ratty boat with that skank and sail away and oh yeah I hope the next hurrican to hit Acapulco hits you and your precious restaurant and blows you off the face of the earth. (Oops I forget it is St. Lety doing the talking not me) LOL.

As for Aldo he deserves a good kick in the rear. He never let Lety explain, spilled personal information to virtual steangers, flew off in a snit (shades of Lety) to Acapulco without even bothering to call the "love of my life". True to his past form Aldo is in for another long sulk fest. Carmina must be out of her mind if she thinks this guy is a dream come true.

Nearly died laughing when Marcia told Fern it took Omar 10 minutes to pack and get out. He isn't about to screw anything up again - so endeaing.

I would love to see La Fea start with reruns but I'm not too hopeful. If times stay the same it seems they have already filled the spot. I would love to see what I missed in the beginning and then see the whole thing over again.
Can you tell I'm getting really sad about the end coming too fast?????

Carrie L.

The hardest part in a relationship is to surrender yourself to love. Lety never gave herself to Aldo, although she does "love" him. She's been fighting with her inner self over Fern. Aldo gave her a distraction, but I think she surrendered to her feelings for Fern while watching the kiss. She looked mesmerized, like it finally clicked...

This man loves me.

Amanda, thanks for the wonderful recap!

“Aldo absently says that Lety never stopped loving Fernando.” He knows the truth, now he really should get busy processing it in his new age sort of way and decide that he can forgive Lety but let her go or no one will ever be happy. He pushed her, she responded. He should have just let her be in the first place.

“Fernando says that he fell crazy in love with her, and he continues to be crazy in love with her.” If I had Jaime Camil telling me he was crazy in love with me, I’d be believin’ it. What’s up with that, Lety???

“Carmina apologizes for entering like that, but she needed to speak with Lety.” I dunno what the point was for apologizing. It’s not like she really meant it or anything. I’m just sayin.’

Carmina is such a deft manipulator. She charged into Aldo’s life, decided he was hers, then has proceeded to charge in every chance she gets to undermine Lety and stick a hook into Aldo. She’s even declared to Lety she’s going to Acapulco to live with him, though it’s unlikely he’ll have a clue until he actually trips on her slippers beside the bed. Very slick. Fern did some of the same, I guess, but it seemed endearing coming from him. He wants the best for Lety. I am not sure Carmina wants the best for anyone except Carmina.

“The man in the restaurant thinks this is reasonable. Aldo talks about planning his wedding, but the man thinks Aldo should focus on other things like the restaurant.” Gasca/New Hugo sure is getting around tonight. He’s driving a cab and running a restaurant, depending on what hour you’re watching.

Everyone’s reactions to the Letyrora article in the news were really fascinating. Omar had the best reaction of all, I think.

Jeanne

liked those dancing flames rotf. I never saw anyone child or adult dance like that.

I think stalkergirl came to lety, purposely to upset her more by letting her know aldo spoke with her shortly after he found lety's deception. That would tick off anyone. Aldo running to stalkerchick. I think stalker knew lety would be upset. Then to tell her to stay away from Aldo. Again, to make her mad. At first I thought that stalker was trying to help aldo and lety by making lety jealous enough to fly to alcapulco to be with him; but later I thought it was that she was trying to make lety so disgusted with aldo that she would not want any part of him.

I actually thought it was pretty nice of Lety not to laugh in Carmina's face. I guess Lety just isn't there yet, self-esteemwise. It's too bad, because it would have been a heartwarming sight.

Julie,

It would have been nice if Lety could have mustered up the guts to tell the witch to take a flying leap but I guess Lety is either too ingrained with feeling sorry for herself to bother or just is incapable of fighting for what she wants. Another week and half and we will get some kind of closure one hopes.

Oddly enough I read that Juan Q was supposed to start 6/23 and wonder why Univision is screwing around with this half hour routine. It is going to take any of the fun out of the ending of LFMB if we have to watch it spread out for 6 days instead of the 3 hour shot Mexico got. I've also read that Juan Q is not doing particularly well in Mexico which might be why they are trying to get us hooked by feeding us small doses.

News to Univision - it isn't working with me. I find nothing amusing or interesting in the first hour.

Diane

I think Lety felt so guilty is why she didn't stand up to Carmina-- feeling that she deserved any punishment that came her way,

Definitely feel that Carmina was making sure the wedge between Aldo and Lety was spread even wider to ensure they don't get back together. So much for her feeling Aldo's pain, huh?

I think this is the first episode where we see Letty, as Letty, without her braces, moustache and extra eyebrows. She looks pretty, doesn't she?
Ann

Now she just needs to toss out the JOES. Jackets Of Enormous Size.

I hope they will change Lety's hair and remove glasses and give her a chance to look in to the mirror - she will look like real Angelica Vale - very beatuful young woman. Very good for self esteem ( and for all of us).

Jewels

JOES - bad girl I almost spilt a bottle of water over my computer when I read that.

I did notice that jacket was a very attractive color on her.

Her jacket was the color I wanted to see on Aurora. :(

Muchas gracias por changing Fernando's caption to ¡Tan Divino!

Oh my Goddddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate Carmina, who the h**l does she think she is????

I hope she does not end up with Aldo, cuz she is NOT a good person at all. Well, maybe, I guess???

Great Recap

Great job, Amanda!

Anon 12:44, Reruns of telenovelas are rarely (if ever) run during prime time. But they are sometimes run earlier in the day or on weekends. I think they ran Betty La Fea on weekends.

great recap! man- after weeks of stalling, everything came down the tube in one shot!

carmina....
does anyone think we have time left in the novela to see her get her just desserts? I'm just saying
it's not really fair that she can get away with this

and no, being with aldo isn't revenge enough

and no, being with aldo isn't revenge enough

I don't know about that. He is so terminally boring she can look forward to having her every thought dictated to her and hearing endless variations on the theme the flavor of life plus blathering on about El Mar. And God help her if she doesn't live up to his ideas of perfection he'll be off in a short to have a snit fit by the sea.

Oops I meant he'd be off in a shot and now that I think about it probably wearing those tacky shorts again.

Lots of luck Stalker Chick - be careful of what you wish for.

Johanna

Aldo and Juan Q. can have a contest for the shortest shorts!

Although they both look tacky, at least Juan Q is buff.

I am just sick thinking of this Telenovela ending. I have so bought into it, it has so taken over my life. (Do I have a life other than watching lfmb in a language that I barely understand?)
I am also mad that everything is going so fast! This was my first Telenovela. I don't know if I am up for another. It has been such an emotional roller coaster.
How does one go on?
Patty B. Utah

Frickin' Carmaniac. Que the hell, man? Low self esteem, guilt, whatever--somebody comes into my office screaming at me about stuff that's none of her business, and she's going to find her scrawny neck wrung. LOL She and Daisy-Duke-wearing Sulky Brat deserve each other.
Poor Fernando, though. He loves Lety more than life itself, and he's having to watch this culero break her heart. Come over to my place, Jaime--I'll kiss it better.

Patty I have the same sentiments. I watched la fea since about a month after it started. When it was supposed to end 6 months later (according to my tutor, they all only last about 6 months) Bull S.... I got wrapped up in this program. I eat it sleep it talk it. And I don't understand most of what they say, even though I can talk to my self in spanish and I can read spanish, I can't understand them; yet night after night, there i am watching and day after day here I am catching the recaps. Addictive Oh My God!!!!!
Ret

For all to be happy. Lety has to go back to Aldo and then reject him, otherwise we will not be happy with her and fern. AND we will always wonder if she went to fern because SHE was dropped by aldo and not because her love for fern was greater or different. I rest my case.

patty & ret - it's like the "Little Shop of Horrors"; such a pretty thing, that plant, and then it takes over the world, our minds, our hearts.

I don't think all the ice cream and mojitos in the world will comfort me when the novela's over.
How does one replace a Fernando fixation?

I can't stand these half-hour episodes. As soon as I get my snack and get settled to watch, then it's over.

Also, did you see Mama Bozo Mendiola. I would be soooo embarrased if my mother had her boobs showing like she did.Poor Fernando. He needs a mom like Julietta or Irmita.

OMG my heart broke for Fernando. He put his heart on the line and it got broken again. I wanted to reach through the t.v and kiss him and hold him in my arms. The poster who said Lety has to go back to Aldo and then dump him is right. Because we would all wonder if she only choose Fernando because Aldo dumped her and that would make Fernando second best. I'm at the point where I'm tired of seeing Fernando cry over Lety and for him to just forget her and move on with his life.

Oh this is such a great blog! I have loved La fea mas bella forever and nobody in my area has ever heard of it... so this is so cool to see!

I am sure that I will have to start watching Amo a Juan Querendon though... I am going to miss Lety. Did anyone see her super short cameo on Ugly Betty not long ago?

Dear Blog Mom Melinama: These two quotes are for you, "Undertake the easy as though it were difficult, and the difficult as though it were easy" and "diligence conquers impossibility". I was beginning to think learning Spanish was just not in my DNA and your blog/ the simple repetitive novella vocabular/and captions made learning Spanish a lot easier than all of the Spanish college courses, 5 books and endless CD& learning tapes I have purchased. The recappers and commentors are sooo clever I enjoy reading their spin more than the show (me gettin real tired of the show, but not Fernando of course). I will continue my Spanish course part 2 in the land of "Destilando Amor".

Anya: I am thinks about riding my stationary bike while viewing D Amor so I can start working off those 20#s.
Sistah Val

Hey Sistah Val - I have a tv (with headphones attached) in front of my elliptical trainer and EVERY SINGLE DAY I pop in a movie or tv show from netflix and crank away for 45-50 minutes - the time flies!

I will miss La Fea also, but only the minutes that fern and lety have had. I taped the part when Fern kissed Lety outside the Conceptos, ran off with her to the country, sat and kissed and talked, proposed and then the two kissing in the car, before the trauma began the very next day. If they get together in the end, I will add that to it. I too have no one that watches La Fea and they can't understand my fixation. They can't understand not to call me between 8 and 9. And if it was a bad show, don't call at all that night ROTF. I have watched JUAN for three nights. I see absolutely nothing in this plot. The mother of the two daughters is worse than Alcia of La Fea, in her actions. Juan is not handsome and his hair looks smacked. We have to watch this instead of Fernando??????

Angelica's cameo on Ugly Betty was so short you would've missed it if you blinked. I love this show and will miss it when it's over. What am I going to do to feed my Fernando fix LOL>

I agree with Anon, in that I have watched JUAN for three nights just to give it a chance but am not getting into it at all. Please give me back my LFMB in reruns. Also, the 1/2 hour is awful. Between repeats of the night before and advertisements there is nothing there. I am always so bummed when it is over so soon.
