La Fea Más Bella #298A 6/21/07 Hot Heads & Hotrods
In Lety’s office, Fern tells Aldo that as Lety's assistant, he must tell Aldo something. He tries to sit down but Aldo stands behind the chair and wiggles it around until Fern finally gives up trying to sit. Instead he turns around to Aldo and says that Lety had a nightmare. Aldo asks Fern if he’s ever stopped to wonder if maybe he (Fern) is the nightmare. Aldo asks Fern when he will accept the fact that Lety loves him (Aldo), and that his (Fern’s) train has left the station. As he talks, Aldo goes for Fern’s tie. Fern thinks Aldo is trying to choke him. Aldo says he just wants to fix Fern’s tie. He says Fern can’t even put his tie on right. Fern suavely leans on the desk and calmly rebuts that oh pa-lease, he was born wearing a tie. Aldo (going back to the script) , repeats that Fern’s train left the station because he was a liar, egotistical, manipulator, vain… Fern repeats, "I was born wearing a tie, and with gel in my hair – I know, very extreme gel, you don’t have to tell me." He slicks back his hair for effect. He adds that regardless, this is not el caso (case ). Aldo touches Ferns hair and says it looks like a casco (helmet). Fern in turn calls Aldo fritangas (a nice variation on his now standard insult "burger flipper")
Alicia’s got the water-works going. She cries that Tom will never forgive her. The saddest thing that could happen to her is that Tom not forgive her and that he stops loving her. She doesn’t think she could bear that. She holds her belly.
Fern asks Aldo if he is 100% sure that Lety wants to marry him. Aldo seems uncertain for a split second but then answers that of course he’s sure. Fern asks why anyone would want to be married to someone who smells like kitchen grease. Aldo says he’s no burger flipper, and that Lety is marrying a chef. He tells Fern to just accept that he lost Lety way back when she was in love with him, but he was too dumb to admit that he loved her too. Fern interjects that he was a different person back then. They are yelling at each other when Ariel and the cops walk into the office looking for Tom. They can’t come up with a good answer. Ariel is sure Lety is trying to protect Tom. Before the guys can stick up for Lety, Ariel shuts them up and walks out in a snit with the cops following. Fern explains to Aldo that as a baby, Ariel fell on his head, and he’s been in a sour mood ever since.
On the road, Aldo and Fern are now riding side by side on their motorcycles, presumably looking for Lety. The other cars in the street were apparently really excited to see this scene being taped, because they are all beeping like mad, so that we can barely hear what the guys are saying – either that, or it’s just another typical day on the streets of Mexico City.
Inspired by the scene assinged to them, Fern sings a verse from Parace que va a llover (It Looks Like It’s Going To Rain), which is a song from the movie "¡¡ A toda máquina!!", one of the best movies from the golden age of Mexican film. [If you’re a Fern fan, you will love Pedro Infante in A toda máquina. Now that I think about it, the Pedro Infante influence in Fern's character is clearly evident. Put it on your Netflix list!] Aldo loves the adlib so much that he gives Fern a high-five! Trying a little adlib of his own, Aldo tells Fern to stop having fun and look for Lety, then he spots her and they speed up.
A girl in a red card drives by, and Fern, who has managed to catch up to Aldo, says there goes Lety [no, it wasn’t Lety; I had to rewind about 10 times to confirm it]. Aldo follows the car and Fern laughs [non-Aldo fans might say he laughs in righteous retribution] before riding off in the opposite direction.
The cops catch up to Lety and cut her off, making her stop. Tom tells her to stay in the car and gets out of to give himself up. I just noticed he's wearing make-up -- he doesn't look half-bad! They cuff him as Lobo and Alicia drives up. Alicia jumps out of the cab and tells them Tomas didn’t do anything. She stops to ask Tom why he’s dressed that way (like a woman). She repeats to the police that he didn’t take the money, it was her… she then adds that it was her that just confirmed that the money is not missing, and it’s all a mistake (Lety rolls her eyes and raises her arms as if to say "Can you believe this oxi?").
In the car, Lety asks Tom what he thinks happened. Tom thinks Alicia must have returned the money. Lety starts to say "I told you so" but changes her mind and just tells him he should not show up work crying.
Just then Fern and Aldo ride by, trying to kick each other and smack each other's helmets. Lety recognizes them and follows them. The boys are showing off again, with lame (and dangerous) tricks like standing on their bikes as they ride and riding sideways. They don’t see Lety driving right behind them. She’s worried that the boys will get hurt. Tomas adds that, because they are so busy smacking each other around, that they haven’t noticed they’re riding en el sentido contrario (the wrong way, against the traffic).
Tomorrow: It looks like Lety may not have any grooms left to choose between!
My queridos amigos, this is my last regularly scheduled Fea recap. I've really enjoyed it and am having a hard time letting go, as may be evident by the fact that this half-hour recap is longer than most of my 1-hour recaps. It's been a blast! I hope you all continue to visit to see what's going on with the other novelas, not to mention Melinama and this excellent blogging team; I sure will!

The Wicker chairs in the Vortex are magic chairs belonging to PG of course! (Remember how one suddenly appeared out of no where on the Beach in Acapulco when Psychic Guy gave Lety her magic necklace?)
The movie you mention - is it like a Crosby & Hope road show flick?
Thanks again Alma!
LAURA
And the new Lety looked like she grew some boobs. The old Fea Lety didn't look so endowed. But she did look beautiful.
Tomas finally saw the light. Let's see how Alicia gets out of this one.
I can't believe that in the past week I have heard that song (on TV) about 3 times. There was a Pedro Infante tribute program last week, with a film clip from the movie mentioned in the recap. Then, as a part of the tribute there was a version sung by the Kumbia All Starz (kind of a cumbia- hiphop version). And then last night on LFMB.
Alma - Thanks so very much for your contributions to this board. Take care.
I ordered the first DVD of La Fea Mas Bella from Novelas R Us (www.novelasrus.com/) and have no complaints. It arrived in about 10 days. There were 5 episodes on the DVD, the picture and sound quality were good (better than Univision comes in on my cable), the commercials were cut out and the resulting length of each episode was about 45 minutes. There were no subtitles - although I haven't ever figured out how to get subtitles on my TV from Univision - so maybe they're available on the right TV/DVD player??

I just happened onto this site in the fall and aimply read w/o commenting. You all have been wonderful - gracias por todo ... muchas, muchas gracias.

This episode was hysterical. Fernando holding the chicken and the feathers flying everywhere. I loved it! It looks like Aldo and Fernando are really becoming friends and you could tell they were having so much fun doing this scene. Their boyish showing off on the motorcycles was too stupid and too funny. We know our boys are going to come through unscathed but maybe Lety will realize that she's more worried about Fernando than Aldo and this will be her wakeup call.
Wow, Alicia finally confessed to the crime and did something for someone else, probably for the first time in her life. Will miracles ever cease! I do hope Tommy forgives her eventually since she confessed and has realized that she loves him. Also, we know he'll be miserable without her now.
Tomas in the woman's clothing and ripping them off in the car was so reminiscient of old Hollywood movies like "Some Like it Hot". This was a fabulous action stuffed 30 mintues, and I'm so glad I didn't miss any of it. Ta Ta.
Like Tani said, there will probably be something down there to break their fall.
Why couldn’t Tomas talk in a normal tone of voice more often? If he did, I may have actually liked him and not always skipped over or muted his scenes.
We are down to only two more nights! Waaahhh!!
Teresa
Well, maybe Alicia is heading toward a full rehab. Will Tomás ever forgive her? (Probably, he’s such a total wuss where Alicia is concerned. We should all be so lucky to have someone love us so unconditionally whether or not we deserve it).
“Aldo asks Fern when he will accept the fact that Lety loves him (Aldo), and that his (Fern’s) train has left the station.” I had to laugh when I heard Aldo say this. There’s an often-used American Sign Language phrase to express the same idea, “train gone,” where a ton of meaning is entirely in the movement, direction and force of the sign. (I guess you have to be there…..)
“Fern suavely leans on the desk and calmly rebuts that oh pa-lease, he was born wearing a tie.” And don’t we all agree he wears it soooo well! That was a great line the writers gave him.
I really like the new Lety, with so many of our Lety quirks and eye tics, as well as the Lety voice. It seems like a nice mix.
“She laments that she will not get to be a Swiss natural blonde.” She wouldn’t be even if she were Swiss, now, would she?
“[Well we could pause here to discuss why the heck Lety happened to have this outfit conveniently lying around, in Tomas’s size, natch, but let’s not, okay?]” LOL! My thoughts exactly, but it is telenovelaland, so anything goes.
“Inspired by the scene assinged to them, Fern sings a verse from Parace que va a llover (It Looks Like It’s Going To Rain), which is a song from the movie "¡¡ A toda máquina!!", one of the best movies from the golden age of Mexican film.” Wow, Alma, thanks for this bit of info! Now it makes lots more sense! I thought that was what they were singing, but it made no sense.
“in a car with no license plates, BTW” How long has she had that car? I saw that and wondered if all this past month has been only three telenovela days.
The whole chase scene was totally diverting, especially with Fern’s and Aldo’s camaraderie on the motorcycles. But, omigosh, how will the boys land?
Jeanne
I love the scenes with Fern and Aldo.
Yes Fern, you certainly were born with a tie and hair gel! I have to say you wear them both unusually well!
Thank you Alma for all you recaps and the hard work. Enjoy your break away and have a great summer with your family.

The jump over the cliff is a bit like Butch and Sundance. I don't see a river down below, though. Fern and Alpo really were funny together.
And then just as they're surrounded by police and g-men, ET levitates them to freedom!
I don't think that will happen tonight.
But it's not the first time they did something that reminded me of ET. When Luigi first saw the New Lety (the green one), he started screaming, she started screaming, it was just like when Elliott met ET for the first time.
I just figured out who Cybil Lety looks like now, LOLA without glasses!! The same hair style, hair color, makeup, 3/4 sleeves.

Laura, it's sort of like the old Bing Crosby movies. In this one, Pedro infante he's a charming but less than honest guy who manages to get hired as a motorcycle cop.
Yesterday someone gave away the entire episode even though those of us here on the west coast still had two hours to go before the episode aired. Not cool, sorry to be blunt, but it ruined the whole thing for me. I know I'm anal retentive about not wanting things spoiled for me, but so are a lot of other people. If you do move on to another novela, please try to remember that we are not all in the same time zone and don't all get to watch the shows at the same time. Those of us who are anal would really appreciate it. I know you didn't mean to, it was an exciting episode and you were eager to share, but do stop a moment and take us late zoners into consideration. Thanks, and thanks for letting me get this off my chest.

Ann, thanks for the info on the dvds. I still want to buy the official one when it comes out, but I think I'm going to also spring for the unofficial one, just so I can see the whole thing (crappy cuartel and all) from the beginning.
I don't think I'll be hanging around Juan Querendon much longer, but I plan on sticking with Destilando Amor and I definitely plan on watching the new show replacing Duelo, so hopefully I'll "see" you all in those recaps.

Wow, everything is moving so quickly, now. Looking forward to our next time together.
Barbara from Mass.
I hate to admit it but I did feel sorry for Alicia when Tomy cut her dead. She is pretty used to him jumping when she snaps her fingers so it was interesting to see him take a stand. I'm curious to see how she is going to get him back and she better have that paper from the doctor saying she is pregnant handy because no one is going to believe. I know she has it coming but Patty is such a good actress she makes you feel kind of sorry for her.
OK I noticed the lack of license plates as well but where on earth did Lety get the black wig. Don't tell me we are supposed to believe that all the time she was a fea she had been wearing a wig with that awful braid. I figured the bolsa had her old Aurora duds and wig in it. Oddly enough I saw a cartoon or read something the other day that said what man hasn't dressed up in women's clothes at one time his life. Guess I can now add Tomy to the mix.
As for the time difference issue I avoid any problem by not checking the blog after 4 PM my time. I'm usually on Mountain Time but since I live in Arizona and we don't go on daylight saving time am on Pacific time for half the year but our TV shows are still on MDT which means novelas start her at 6.
I loved this episode - boys on a bike, Alicia getting closer to normal person, Thomas as "Lety's sister". I also thought that he looks very handsome after he removed the clothes and the wig in the car. And I'm with Barbara from Mass who said "Don't let Luigi see Tomas in that get-up." LOL
Lety finally was a real friend last nite when she took upon herself getaway for Thomas - now I can see the "old" Lety in new clothes. And I really like how she looked - probably like real Angelica Vale.
I hope nothing serious will happen with the "boys" and she will get to Fernando first.
About Alicia - me thinks that quartel will take care of letting Thomas know that she is pregnant and loves him - remember Mr.Marta took the confeccion.
Well, only two days left and will get there pretty soon.
Eve
Thanks**Neire***
Thanks for the Pedro Infante info, also. I knew the scene, but not the movie title.
Alas, my dvr recorded NOTHING on Univision last night (this has happened before) but it did record Telemundo. Anyone have a clue why the dvr jinx on Univision?
Hope to find Fernando "con pollo" on Youtube. He is just too precious, isn't he? Born with tie and "extreme" gel. LOL. Love him!
Ann - thanks for letting us know about novelasrus. I will check them out.
Off to Youtube, and definitely home tonight in time to catch the show - don't trust that dvr!

I guess all the feas and feos are becoming guapisimo near the end.
Ann, the DVDs don't come with any subtitles.
Yes, Monday is the finale. From what I have heard there is a LFMB flashback hour from 7-8, then a two hour finale 8-10, then the Christina show with the cast from 10-11. But you might want to check your local guide for the times.
So anyway, I want to weigh in on last night's show. Thank God Tomas got some cojones and stood up to Alicia. Yes, I agree his voice was very nice in that last scene. It just makes you appreciate what a talented actor Luis Manuel Ávila really is.
One thing that made me laugh last night was when Aldo and Fer were pushing each other to get through Lety's office door. Just too funny---Fer rubbing his shoulder afterward (made me wonder if Jaime got a little hurt)--- and then all their scenes there after. Yes, Jaime and Juan have more chemistry together than Juan and Angelica. Said before, but well worth repeating. That's why I'm convinced Lety will run to Fer first tonight. Hopefully Aldo will get the message.
About the NovelaRus dvds if they are recorded off tv they should have the close captions, just like when you tape off of tv they are there. So try your "CC" button and see if that works.
So someone, anyone, check it out and see if I'm wrong.
I understand people are excited and want to talk about what's happened. I just do myself a favor and just stay away so I won't find out ahead of time what's going to happen.
It works good for me.
Lisa
As for not reading the blogs past a certain time, I'm glad that works for some people but right before my quitting time is my best chance to read here. I also have to point out (hopefully this comes out kindly because I don't mean it harshly) that this is posted as a spoiler-free zone, so it never occurred to me that someone would do that.
I understand getting excited, maybe a solution that would work for everyone is that, if someone absolutely cannot wait until the next day's posting to make a comment, perhaps the courtesy of a spoiler warning would help those of us who are still waiting for the episode to air, so we'll know not to read any farther.
Kim P.
Jaime looked really, really good in those tight blue jeans!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!
I was sorry the time was so short but more than that, I could barely hear him because of all the girls screaming.
