La Fea Más Bella withdrawal
If you're having withdrawal symptoms too, try this new chat room. It's unique in that you don't need a login or password or anything special to use it.
I announced it yesterday in the recap comments; so far it's been a dud. A couple of people poked their heads in, but so far there hasn't been much chatting.
If no one's there when you show up, you can still post a remark or an URL (like a favorite YouTube video, for example) and then come back later and see if anyone responded.

But if you get a gang of people in there all at once, it can really be a lot of fun.
I wish I had thought to set up this chat room earlier, but the Meebo chat room feature has only been around for about a month. It didn't occur to me to create a La Fea chat room until just a few days ago!
You crack me up; I'm the same way about the withdrawal. I thought I'd be grateful for an evening without the slavery to LFMB, but I don't yet know what to do with myself during the "LFMB" hour. I tried watching "Juan" for the umpteenth time, but it's still not doing it for me. I'll try the chat room later tonight when I'm not at work. Will be fun to chat with folks, although this will be only my second time in one, so I'll have to get up to speed with you veterans!
It still has not connected me.
Does it usually take a long time to connect?
I find myself watching the clock when it hits 7 and wondering "how much longer".
I'm a grown up and have gone through this before but never to this extent!
Anyway, if I get stuck with the chat I've got computer savvy kids who might help me out.
A computer wiz I'm not but I'll try.
Sad and not enjoying withdrawal,
Carrie L.
Well, I will leave it up awhile and see if anyone comes along.

enjoy!!
Thanks to all the recappers for their dedication. I came onboard very late, but with your help I was able to enjoy the last month or so of the show.
Is there anyone out there who could translate the People en Espanol article on Angjelica Vale?

This makes me miss the show even more.
When I've had a little more time to mourn and, yes, I am in mourning, I plan to go watch Destilando Amor. I've been going back and reading some of the old Destilando recaps, and seeing familiar names of the bloggers and commenters helps a little, though nothing can replace Don Fernando and Lety for me. Hey, maybe we could have a mourner's party. Everyone could wear black and weep and wail over our LFMB being snatched away from us too soo, then maybe we could move on and meet in other novella blogs.
Just talking to you all on here makes me feel much better. Everyone would just think I'm nuts to be sad over a TV show ending but you all get it.
Since I'm not technically savvy and don't have computer access at home, I probably won't be going into the chat room.
I don't have the money to buy all the DVD's from La Fea but was wondering if people might like to pool their funds and have a La Fea lending library so that we could mail the DVDs to each other. I missed the first few months and would love to go back and watch La Fea from the beginning.
It's so good to know all you other people are out there feeling the same way. Misery loves company. At least I still feel a little connected in that way. Waahhh! No, I'm not ready to let go yet.
Clinging Connie
Barbara in Mass.
Rosy Ocampo, you have to make part 2. It will make a lot of money and also bring Fernando & Lety back to us.
So, I'm in a funk. I was ready to reclaim at least one hour of my life when LFMB ended, and now I just don't care. Couldn't care less. Eh. What's the point?
LOL and moping.
Barb - you cracked me up - might have to talk to your husband! LOL
Connie, Carrie, Marie Celeste - yep, same here. Lost, depressed, in mourning. Welcome to the world post-LFMB!
I"ll try the chat room later. Sigh. If I can muster up the energy...big sad sigh..
Talk to my husband, nah! He would just say, "ok, go ahead, what do you want to talk about".
Geez, after 25 years you would think I would learn.
I want Fernando with those gorgeous eyes, kissable lips, and on and on.
I want to see Lety melt into his arms just one more time.
Reruns just aren't the same to me but I'll watch what I've recorded on and off.
I'd love to see Univision rerun the show from the beginning so I could see what I had missed. I think it was the first 3 months.
Last night I watch a couple of the old "Hogan's Heroes" shows that I recently ordered. It helped a little for the distraction and just being able to laugh a little!
Not coping very well but trying to carry on,
Carrie L.

Where can we buy the dvds? I am ready for a "Fea-Thon" I will have to wean myself off gradually.

Speaking of the unofficial ones, I was wanting to purchase them, but the site is in Spanish, which I don't speak. I tried using the Google "Translate This" feature, but it came out so garbled I don't understand it. Can anyone out there who reads Spanish please check it out and let me know what they are saying about the cost? I can't figure out if the $165 is for the entire series, even the episodes they haven't burned yet (this has been up since before the show ended here), or if the price is only for the dvd's they have so far and you have to pay more for the rest?
I e-mailed the company but haven't heard back from them. If anyone's out there reading this who knows the answer, I'd love to hear fom you. Thanks!!!

If I remember correctly you're in Dallas, which is where I live, so at least you're not alone in your withdrawals. Maybe there's an addiction clinic that will give us a two-for-one special here in Dallas. The only thing that's helping me through this withdrawal phase is dancing. I went to an Argentine tango class last night and that makes me forget everything else in the world. Of course, tango was my first addiction and La Fea just gave it a good run for its money because I had such a crush on Jaime Camil. I didn't think there was anything in the world that would make me stay away from tango, but that was before I bumped into Don Fernando tan divino. Hang in there fellow sufferer.
I am also going through the throes of withdrawl. I have been checking out some of the older clips, because I started watching lfmb in November. I would wait for the official version of the dvd's. It seems that that other site is asking for a lot of money, and you don't know what you will end up with. If I am going to pay for it, I would rather have a clear copy to enjoy. Hang in there!!!
Kim P.
I guess I should thank Melinama for all those recaps?? They look great - and, in fact, that's the reason I chose Alborada as my next novela.
Good luck with the La Fea ones. As someone mentioned here, we should probably find a way to share these many DVDs when we're through with them.

I can't wait to watch the episode with Tiziano Ferro. I know he's not real popular in Mexico right now, but I really did love the song AND Fernando's reaction to it!

If you are still interested in the People en Espanol article with Angelica Vale, Judy B translated a synopsis of what it said in a June 10 recap. Hope you can find it.
Sadly, there aren't very many pictures of Jaime, only 3 or 4. I was saving most of the film for when I got his autograph and wound up not getting it. But the ones I did get are very cute, at least I think so. But then again the guy could be covered in mud and drooling and I'd probably think it was adorable, so maybe I'm not the best one to judge.
Oooh, wait, Jaime naked-mud-wrestling. Damn, now I'M the one drooling! Wrestling Agustin Arana! Man, I gotta go, I'm having a meltdown here!
Anyway, any tips on how to post the pics would be greatly appreciated!

Before I comment on LFMB itself,I wish to make a few preliminary remarks.
First I want to thank the recappers for their excellent work in making this novella
comprehensible to those (like myself) who do not know Spanish. As a commenter
stated, recapping is an art form. There is no way that the recapping could have been
any better.
Secondly, many thanks to the commenters. your views and insights helped me to
clarify my own. Though I wanted to, I did not regularly participate in the ongoing
discussion for two reasons. First, I can’t type; I can only hunt and peck.
Secondly, I saw LFMB when it came out the first time, and I didn't’t want to
unwittingly introduce spoilers.
Shortly after February 25, 2007, I discovered Caray Caray and watch
LFMB once again, with the assistance of the recappers. I did write one letter. Some
of the thoughts in that letter will also be in this one.
My guess is that the majority of the commenters are women. It is for that reason
that I am telling all of you that I’m a man whose name is not “Luigi”. I like
women, and yes, when I initially turned on the novella, I was quite enchanted with
the so called beautiful women who frequented Conceptos. But then, I encountered
Lety. What you are about to read is a man’s take on LFMB.
I acknowledge boldly that I love LFMB and even fell in love with Lety long before
Aurora dawned upon the scene. I was attracted toward her about the same time
Fernando was, though not perfectly; for unlike Aldo, I am neither an angel nor a
saint. I was able to overlook most of what was “fea” in Lety: her pasted down hair,
her skin problem (which eventually cleared up), the glasses, the braces, her lack of
fashion sense, and even her facial twitches. However, I had a hard time with her
mustache and her dancing. The Lety dance just has to go!!!!!! I have to admit
though, that in my more perverse moments, I did wonder what Aurora would look like
if she did the Lety dance. Would her wig fall off? Sorry for the visual. Even so, I
found myself being so enchanted by Lety that I no longer cared about the so-called
“beautiful” women at Conceptos.
Yes, yes, yes, I am aware of the glaring flaws of the novella. I am acknowledging
them merely to “clear the air”: the over-extension of LFMB for financial gain, the
excessive fillers, and the mishandling of a number of scenes. I even admit that a
case can be made concerning the writers’ neglect of Lety’s character development
during the last half of the story line, though I don’t think it’s as bad as some
commenters made it to be. Maybe I'll go into that another time.
For now I wish to comment on some of the scenes which effected me emotionally:
1)The scene where Lety discovered Omar’s cruel letter, the letter which started the
mess. Seeing Lety cry like that!!!
I was so affected that I vowed to stick with lety through all of it! I was
determined to see her through the crap given to her by her peers for being “fea”,
and to see her through the burdens imposed upon her character due to moments of
lousy writing.(I knew those moments were coming.) Yes, by that time I was deeply in
love with Lety no matter what. I no longer cared about the Lety dance, or her
“mustache”. Alicia, Marcia, and the rest of them can go &@#$ themselves!!!. Man! I
was so p.o.ed. on behalf of Lety. How can people be that mean? The cruelties of
high school don’t end there; they continue into adulthood with trappings of
sophistication. Sometimes they’re not all that sophisticated. But oops…. I digress.
2)When Fernando went crazy with remorse while reading Lety’s diary.
I could write pages on this but I'll keep it short. In reading Lety’s
diary (her soul expressed on paper) Fernando encountered her human vulnerability,
that vulnerability which is to her being as delicacy is to the beauty of a flower.
There is a sacredness to human fragility.
3) When lety saw her beauty for the first time as it dawned in a
mirror.
It was the birth of Aurora. At first Lety was extremely apprehensive, but then her
fear and confusion gave way to a mood of cautious but happy playfulness. I was
charmed as I watched her smile and make faces at the stranger in the mirror. After a
few awkward and endearing attempts, Lety finally figured out how to “walk the Aurora
walk” and “talk the Aurora talk”. After all, aren't divas suppose to be women of
distant, cold, sophistication?
4)When Aurora and Omar finally had a one- to-one talk.
Though Lety was dressed as Aurora, it was Lety, not Aurora doing the talking. She,
that is, Lety, told Omar plainly, firmly, and, truthfully, that he knew nothing
about love. (The details of the conversation are in one of the recaps.)
5)When Fernando and Aurora kissed during the recording of their love scene.
Fernando was moved by the soul of Lety and NOT the beauty of Aurora. (“She kisses
like Lety!” he exclaimed.) Understandably, he was confused. He wrongly thought, with
remorse, that he was being unfaithful to Lety. It was this incident that eventually
led him to discover who Aurora really was.
6)When Fernando with his “dual” phone call finally confirmed that Lety is Aurora. I
got a big kick out of the boisterous, boyish way he celebrated this revelation. The
fact that Fernando discovered Aurora’s identity before Aldo did, and the fact that
unlike Aldo, Fernando had a sense of humor about it told me that it would be
Fernando who would wind up married to Lety.
Of course there are many other good, moving scenes besides the few
that I listed, scenes just as important as the ones mentioned. I liked what Luigi
said to Lety after her final transformation: “Are you going to be yourself, or are
you going to hide your beauty the way you did when you were Aurora?
Lety needed to hear that.
I've noticed that many people, including myself, are suffering “LFMB withdrawal”. I
think I know why. LFMB has a beautiful theme, a theme so beautiful that it
transcends the writing when the writing is poor, and draws nourishment from the
writing when the writing is good.
“There’s a little of Lety in all of us.”
For that reason, there is a little of God in all of us as well.
The novella worked for me. I learned of a beauty that transcended her
“fea” trappings.
Teresa
Unfortunately I didn't get as much out of Lety as you did, which I regret because I really wanted to like her. To me (and this is only my opinion), the show turned out to be about skin-deep beauty after all. They made Lety pretty on the outside without her actually doing any growing, other than finally being able to say she loved Fernando (he's the one who did all the changing). But she never did make any decisions on her own, even her decision to go with Fernando in the end was only after Aldo cut her loose. I can't think of a thing she did to save Conceptos, Aldo and Fernando did that (ok, she dressed like Aurora when she didn't want to, big deal, I think all the whining she did about it negates any good that might have come from it). In the end, when she was doing her "jealous over Carmina" bit (despite the fact that Aldo had WAY more reason to be jealous of her and Fernando than she did to be jealous of Aldo and Carmina), she was even uglier than when I first started watching, and I don't mean her looks. I actually reached a point where I had to fast-forward through her scenes because I couldn't stand her whining in that baby voice any more.
Again, that's just me and I know some people disagree, just like I've always liked Aldo (NOT as an angel though!) and others haven't. Vivre la differance!
I've ordered the dvd's because I'm hoping that I'll be able to see more that's likable about her if I can see her from the beginning. Of course, if that doesn't work, I'll still be happy to have Fernando, Aldo, Omar, Luigi, and Celso to check out whenever the cravings hit!!

I think it’s an old trailer of Cristina.
It’s for Angélica’s 27th birthday (at 2002?) and who is the man serenading her?

Subtitled DVD release should follow shortly after. If you haven't seen this film, do yourself a favor & do what you have to do get the chance; it's good stuff.
I have GOT to get a new computer!!! Ooops, did I mention that already? ;o} All these wonderful youtube clips being posted and I can't watch them. I tried going to the library as someone suggested, but the wait for an available computer was so long (and patience is not one of my better virtues) I wound up giving up. Ah well, some day...

I searched it on Amazon but didn't see that info.
I love the pictures and sounds interesting but I'd probably be lost with my limited understanding.
Thanks,

The current available DVD of "7 Dias" has no subtitles, as it hasn't yet been edited for world distribution. Notices I've seen indicate the 2005 film will be re-released on Aug. 17th, in limited US markets. (I have no idea what cities this includes; Check your local listings). A subtitled DVD release is supposed to follow after that, but no date on that yet. www.7dias.com has lots of info, but only the Aug. 17 release date.
I think I read where someone might have a Word document of all the great "La Fea" recaps! If this is true, would it be possible for that person to e-mail me a copy of all these great recaps! I would really appreciate it!
Thanks to all these great recappers!! I've loved every word.
My e-mail address is markley.debbie@gmail.com
Thanks!
