Destilando Amor, 11/2/07: "Busted!"

Rod and Sofia leave for the restaurant. Dani hugs her sister and tells her when she finds them to slap Isa a couple times for her, too.
=========

At the restaurant Frankie listens while Isa tells him that things got complicated and now that Twerpy Tejeiros returned the checks she'd tried to bribe him with, certainly Dani has gotten to him and got the truth about Ricky from him. Franky takes one look inside at the checks and can't believe the doctor's stupidity at turning down such a huge pile of green. Isa races on about how she tried to call the doctor, but Paulino refused her call and then sent the checks back by messenger, and that she's certain Rod's got something up his sleeve because first Rod forbids her to take the baby on vacation and then strangely calls her to get him a ticket so the three of them can go to the beach together.

So now, she says, without taking a breath, she's been thinking on the way over that her list of divorce demands should reach Rod and while he's reading through them and signing, Frankie and she will exchange their tickets and high-tail it to a different location with the baby. She'll return a couple days later to settle the divorce, but in the meantime Rod won't be able to get anywhere near the baby to get anything to use for a DNA test. If a test is made that'll destroy all their plans, her child's inheritance and her half of the money she hopes to abscond with.

Frankie thinks it might be better if she returns to the apartment to avoid suspicion and keep Rod calm. Then a while later on, perhaps, leave after he and Sofia have had a chance to discuss the terms of their separation. He reminds her that was the only reason he married Sofia to begin with. Isa tells him to forget it. He's a fool to think he'd get much of anything from the Montalvo's in a settlement. She's been there, done that and got the tee-shirt, and even had to throw that back.

Anyway, Frankie should understand she cannot wait any longer to live a "normal life" with her child and its father. He's got to come with her now! But, our boy is still of the material world and it's not so easy for our material boy to part with all that finery. The petty peacock's thoughts can't seem to make it past packing up the silk shirts and Panama Jack duds. Isa tells him to forget all that. She'll buy him everything he needs. That does the trick for Frankie. (Going, going. Gone!! To the highest bidder. WhatamIbidwhatamIbid..... )
=================

At Pilar's, Fedra, Bruno and she are talking over Aaron's offer to buy out his dad's part of the business. Bruno sees it as just a way for Aaron to get hold of his inheritance before Bruno dies. He and Pilar agree that Aaron plays way too fast and furious with the corporation's and the family's funds in his business dealings to be allowed to take ownership of it all this way. He'd likely make a wrong move and they'd all stand to lose.

Fedra plays the "You always loved Rodrigo better" card here. She accuses them of not trusting her son's intelligence and denying him the opportunity to create an even bigger empire. Bruno mulls this over and Pilar leaves the final decision to him.
=========

Back at the restaurant, money no longer being an issue, Frankie, that silver tongued-snake, unconsciously reverts to type and goes into his glib routine. Interspersed with all the trite little French endearments he tells Isa exactly what she needs to hear: lots of poppy-cock papi talk that soon little Ricky will be calling him "Daddy". He kisses her on the lips to seal the deal and at that moment Rod and Sofia arrive at the entrance to the dining room.
Sofia starts looking around for them from across the room. She spies them in flagrant lip-lock delicto and she and Rod start for the table. "--Buenas noches! What a coincidence!"

Frankie looks up with a classic look of "Ohmygoditsrod!" impactado frozen on his rat-face, but always one for "negotiation", coolly asks Rod and Sofia to join them for a drink. Rod is only knocked on his proverbial heels for a second or two and, staring over at the two gold-diggers, sardonically asks Sofia who will be paying the tab tonight, Sofia or himself? Sofia chooses Isa instead and Rod answers that's appropriate enough since from here on out Isa will be paying all her own expenses. "Brought all those credit cards of yours with you that I've been keeping up to date, Isa?" He says he figures with all those huge transfers of cash he's covered and all the jewels she's bought but never once worn, she should be good for it.

The waiter appears and Rod orders champagne to celebrate, but then quips to Frankie about maybe seeing if they have a '66 Bordeaux instead, obviously referring to Amador's missing bottle of red wine from a few months ago. The waiter goes for the champagne and Rod sits down and starts in right away. To Frankie: "Better save your money and let her pay tonight. You'll have plenty of opportunity to spend it later."
Sofia suggests then to Isa that when she and Frankie travel together to make sure it's always in first class since he cannot stand tourist.

Isa snaps back assuring her soon-to-be ex that she'll be taking Ricky with her when she goes, but Rod says he refuses to let him go. There's a fight over who'll get legal custody and she spits back that he knows the kid isn't his and so no way is he keeping him. Rod tells her he's legally Ricky's father, at least until the biological father gets the nerve to show his face and take responsibility. Isa loses it and screams what a fool since he's sitting in front of him now! Hoh-boy!

Rod and Sofia are now wearing a couple of major league impactado stares worthy of a 4-way split screen, including a classic of Frankie looking like a deer caught in the headlights, shaking in his Bruno Magli's and wondering what Rod's next move is while he's counting the number of steps to the exit and the time it will take to hit it.
=========

Back at the manse across town, Pilar tells Dani that Avellaneda is promoting Mariana Franco and that she'll be joining Dr. Santoveñia, the new CRT Delegate, in London as the new Director of Public Relations there. She says she's already told Fedra and that both Minnie and Isa as well will just have to get used to the idea and forget the woman already. After hearing this news Dani tells her grammy what she, Sofia and Rod have discovered about Isa and Frankie being lovers.
======

Frankie scoots out of his chair just as Rod lunges and grabs for him and tells Isa that this is not a good time for such a bad joke. Rod's not going for it and growls at Frankie to sit back down. Isa tries to stomp away then, but Sofia grabs her and says, "Not before answering a few questions, like 'Where is your crook of a father hiding?'" Isa snaps back something about having already told her brother shouldn't he have settled with her father himself.

The champagne is brought and Rod slops it into the glasses, takes off his wedding band and throws it in Isa's glass. He then offers a toast to the three years of hell that he had to live through with her while she cheated on him. Isa toasts the same three years of hell she has lived through with him having to beg the entire time for even a little affection while the whole time he was pining away for Gaviota and so, justifying Ricky not being his because he never wanted his own wife sexually.

Finally, Isa says what has to be said. "You married me out of spite, to forget a woman you could never forget! I did love you, Rodrigo!" He guffaws at this. "--Don't you laugh! I tried everything to awaken love in you, but you were cold and deceitful. You betrayed me, you betrayed your family and you betrayed mine. You deceived me because when I agreed to marry you, you told me there was no other woman in your life. So, don't talk to me about moral principles, because you never had any!"

Rod is not exactly a happy camper having to listen to his own litany of faults, but he lets her continue. "If I didn't have a son of yours it was because you never once condescended to touch me and you never desired me sexually. (Isa may have done him wrong, but she did it for all the right reasons.) So, no wonder that I'm leaving you --and you do not have the right to the only thing I have which is mine!"

Rod answers her. "Don't play the victim with me. You knew the rules of our marriage. The only thing that I regret is my having let myself get snared by your lies, your blackmail schemes and those of my family's and not separating from you in order to fight for the love of my life! (Aw, heck! A pox on both your houses, you rich, conceited, privileged, spoiled, and good-for-nothing losers!) Three long years with you and my life was destroyed during those thre-e-e, lo-o-o-ong years."

Frankie is definitely uncomfortable with the ruckus Rod and Sofia are causing in the restaurant, and he is nothing if not all about appearances, the male ditz. "You don't need to cause a scandal in public over this. Sure we may have been incorrect, but--" Rod thinks the guy is a bit removed from reality here. "In-correct?? Hah! What you two did was filthy and disgusting!" To Isa: "Don't you have any shame? Don't you even feel the least bit guilty at using a child for economic advantage with me? --So then, what amount do you value him at, huh? We should sit and chat about that perhaps."

Frankie actually looks as if this might be an idea to pursue, but gets up and says he and Sofia should go back to Pilar's to discuss their own situation. Sofia lets him give her a hand up from the table but then suddenly lets off with a couple of large, loud and unexpected wallops across the lounge-lizard's face. "You shameless coward! Sit. Back. Down!!" He does.

Rod asks Isa why, with all the multitudes of men in the world she had to get involved with Sofia's husband, and Sofia asks both of them just how many others there were. (Best to just leave that as a rhetorical question for now, Sofia. Rod's had enough revelations for one day. He and Minnie can tackle that one together some other day.) Frankie hits back with a muy lame, "We have our complaints with you, too!"

Sofia stares at him with murder in her eyes and screams back at him, "You shameless cad! After all the clothes, the jacuzzi, and the cars I bought you!" (--Not to mention the ironing, the grocery shopping and all that slaving over a hot stove every day making gourmet meals to please his delicate and demanding palate.) "You are never ever going to set foot again in either my house or my ranch!"

Rod tells Isa the same thing. She defies him and tells him that she will go back for Ricky and will be taking him with her even though she might have to call the police on him to do it. "Or, what? Are you perhaps thinking to keep the boy in order to force my father to pay off what he owes you?" Rod sneers, "Ricardo's going back to prison sooner or later, anyway." So Isa gloats that her daddy will be going to leave him holding the financial bag and says she couldn't be happier, since it's nothing compared to what she lost while living with him all this time.

Isa finally gets up to make her dramatic exit but not before Sofia throws her drink in her face. Rod gets up and tells her never to darken his door again, and by all means to show some shred of decency by avoiding exposing Ricky to her lovers and leaving his son in peace. She sniffs and turns to leave but Sofia turns around and cold cocks her and Isa drops to the floor with a bloody lip. ("Ay Dios Mio! Catfight!! CAAATFIIIIGHT!!!") Yep, in the words of Alice Cooper, 'Eyes clash and claws slash and green eyed fur goes flyin'!' Isa tries to get away but Sofia grabs her by the hair and slaps her. While Isa is still staring at those stars circling around her head Sofia lays in with a couple of well-placed left hooks/crosses.

Isa gets up off the floor and rushes out. Frankie tries to enlist the crowd to get them some help, "What's this? Two women fighting?" Rod says to him, "Right, women shouldn't fight, but a couple of men, sure!" He lets Frankie have it and slams him into the wall head first; then gives the dazed little jerk a couple of punches in the eye. Frankie crawls under the tables and tries to slither away while Rod jumps up on the table and screams for him to crawl out from under there. Frankie does and while he lays dazed on the floor, Rod takes the food, dishes, and plates off the table and throws them at him, then Rod kicks Frankie a couple times before the waiters finally break it up and pull him off the beady eyed little slug.

Rod offers to pay for the damages as money well spent and then calls Belisario to make sure he stops Isa from entering the building. Next he calls Enrequeta to keep Isa out of the apartment or from taking the baby and any of her things. He tells her to pack Ricky's things and head right away for Pilar's and if she runs into Isa under no circumstances is she to hand the baby over to his wife.

Frankie manages to run out and catches up with Isa while she's waiting for her car. He suggests that Isa should wait for Rod to calm down and then negotiate with him so he'd be more likely to hand over the baby without a hassle, but Isa decides to go for the baby immediately. Frustrated, he asks her why she doesn't just leave the kid with Rod since they won't have the money they were counting on now. Motherly instinct kicks in and Isa tells him if he doesn't like the idea he can just leave now. She doesn't need him. Besides, her jewels and cash are still up in the apartment and she has her father to help her also.

While Frankie's processing this the valet drives up in the new Beemer and he starts seeing $ signs again. Instinctively, in one smooth move he stiffs the valet, takes the wheel and offers to drive her himself over to the apartment.
============

In her apartment that night Gavi asks Clarita to help her make her decision about London. She comments that Rod will probably never leave Isa, but if he does, he already has his pretty, young psychologist as a replacement for her.

Meanwhile, Erika starts looking through the magazine article about Amador and the tribute given the other night at the CRT. Erika is shocked to see Mariana Franco in the magazine article and realizes that Mariana Franco and Rod's Gaviota are the same person. She remembers her as the patient Beni introduced her to a few years back who told her about her problem with "Rodrigo". Dr. Frosty Locks wonders why she didn't realize it before now, but this seems unlikely to keep her from selfishly still wanting him all for herself .

At the same time Gavi tells her mom that if Rod's psychologist turns out to be even half as pretty and nice as Erika Robledo was, then she might as well be Swiss cheese (literally, the curly tail on a pig's hind end) cause she simply can't compete. Then Gavi says she doesn't really want to live in London because the place has nothing but the blackest memories for her.
=============

Rod and Sofia return to Pilar's and find that Enriqueta has not shown up yet with Ricky. He calls the apartment and Enriqueta reports that Isa is down in the hotel lobby with the police threatening to come up and take the baby away. Rod drives over there and confronts Isadora in the apartment. He tells her that as long as that baby carries his last name he is the legal father and stays with him! The police enter in then and tell them they need to call their lawyers to settle custody from the police station, and in the meantime if they cannot come to a temporary agreement he'll have to put the baby in a children's home until a judge makes a determination.

Rod, exasperated, finally gives in because he cannot bear the thought of the baby spending even one night alone separated from the security of his parents. He lets Isa take the baby with her.
==========

Back in Gavi's living room, Clarita suggests they can always go back to Los Mirasoles (The Sunflowers) and work it. Gavi mentions that Aaron Montalvo was interested in getting it back from her if they don't really want it, but she's not about to let him swindle them out of it through some shady underhanded deal. Clarita thinks this over and says she'd love to work it, but not if they have to continue fighting those people. Perhaps it would be better to just give it away. Gavi already has more than enough to live comfortably on with her position at the CRT. However, Clarita warns her to think long and hard about taking the job in London, because if Gavi decides to join Dr. Santoveñia there it will seem she's giving him the green light in their relationship.
===========

Dani and Sofia tell Pilar that Ricky really isn't Rod's child. Pilar cries for the shame of it all. Isa comes out of the apartment carrying Ricky, followed by the two policemen who carry out her two small bags. Tearfully she takes a last look around as she realizes what she's lost and clings to the baby. (Well, hell she's got her friggin' jewelry and her stash of cash out of the safe now, so who gives a rat's behind besides her and the stupid writers?) Even the new doorman cannot look her in the eyes.
========

Dani and Sofia begin to wonder where Rod is since he should have been home by now. Sofia thinks he'd be on his way to Gaviota's. Dani calls Erika first and explains the situation. He's not there, though. So then she calls Gavi but doesn't go into any detail. Gavi gets upset about this and asks if he'd planned to come by or something. All Dani will say is that he finally left Isa for good and that they are worried because it was pretty bad and they have no idea where he's gone. Gavi starts to ask for more detail then but Dani seems a bit uncomfortable and says she needs to keep the line free and hangs up. Gavi doesn't know what to think.

Rod drives and all the evening's events are rolling around in his head. It's Erika he's chosen to see. When Erika opens the door, she is relieved to see him and tells him how worried they've all been. He is a nervous wreck and sobs repeatedly that Isa's taken away his son. Erika hugs him tightly and he hugs back, just as tightly.

At last some action. Isa surprised me by giving it right back to Rod - verbally, that is. But, who can buy her sob story - she'd try on or out anyone she could get her hand on. But, Sofia really let it all out finally. I thought this was a pretty good night until I saw Monday's previews. Now, I'm going to be disgusted with Rod and Erika all weekend. Especially Erika. Comfort sex just doesn't do it for me when Gavi is home with Ma being a good gir. From lower Ala

Somebody please stick me with a fork.....cause I'm done!! Totally, and completely overdone! How could Rodrigo turn to Erika at one of the lowest points in his life, has really disgusted me. I'm also gonna be hating both of them all weekend! Even if he and Gavi weren't in love anymore, surely he could turn to her as a friend, since he claims to be looking for female friends? There is no way in hell that Gavi would have turned him away! Rodrigo has, in essence, truly disappointed me. The only good thing that I can see coming out of this is that he won't be able to perform, and that's what I wish for him!!!!

Thanks for the recap, Jardinera, I missed understanding some of the muy importante conversation at the restaurant.

Rod probably went to Erika for purely selfish reasons. He and Gavi still have things to work out - he knew Erika would accept him without him having to think about her (Erika) or her feelings (since he's not in love with her), it would all be about him. And Erika, having shown herself to be an embarassment to all women, is still willing to blindly and mindlessly give in to her feelings for him.

I was surprised at the previews though - I was sure there was never going to be more than quick pecks on the cheek between Erika and Rod. But I guess now we'll finally know for sure if Rod is physically a one woman man, even if he doesn't go through with it.

Out of fairness, I guess we should now get to see Gavi in a clinch with the Doctorcita, but it seems she'll probably remain completely true and faithful.

Thanks for the recap! My darn DVR cut off before the preiviews, but reading the comments here, it's just as well. I can more than wait 'til Monday to see Rod & Erika "together", or trying to be - who knows.

Frankie slithering under the table , like a snake under a rock - he is awful. He really would sell his son to the highest bidder so he could keep his closet full of fine clothes, and his beloved silk panuelos. No way will he join Isa in exile, if she doesn't have money.

Listen to Clarita, Gavi- a yes to Londres is indded a yes to Dr. S. A life of bad memories, coffee lectures, classical music to snore by, and rain await you in Londres (capital of Inglaterra).

An Acacia sighting this next week? Have to wrap that up, so James can be with Sofie.

Whooo - I really know how to spell (most of the time), really.
It's "preview" and "indeed".
Fast typing = typos.

Thanks so much for the recap Jardinera. It was a really great episode and I so needed to understand the what they were fighting about. Wow Sophie! She put a beat down on both Frankie and Isa. I'm going to have to watch it again.

I'm hoping that the point of Rod and Erike being together is so Rod can finally see that even though he says it with his lips, he isn't over Gavi, is still in love with her, and (most importantly) can't perform with Erika.

Rod will never give "it" up to Erika..Surely, he will come to his senses before Monday night..Running over into the arms of the psycho Erika,proves Rod to be such a weakling,as the time when he ask Isadora to marry him,when Gavi didn't return on the wedding day they had planned..He's definitely a disappointment..

Even more not liking Erika, now that she knows Mariana is Gaviota..Erika was giving counseling & guidance way back when to Mariana Franco/Gaviota..What is Erika thinking?

Rod is way past redemption right now. Even being unable to consumate the affair will not redeem him. And he's the hero of the telenovela. UGH!

Good left, Sophie. Way to go. Frankie has to be around for his diseased agaves anvil, so more posturing between Isa and he. His fall at the airport was spectacular. I guess we have to look at the antiheroes in this story. Looking forward to this week.

Hee Hee Hee..was it great or what...I did think Isa had a few valid points. Frankie you are such a man whore.

After the terribly bad week I had at work..& other bad stuff, I consider it quite the gift from the Virgincita that Rod/Erika horizontal bopping occurs on my recap nite. Oh Rod I will be analyzing your every movement..hee hee hee. I hope you are man enough to handle it. Since it looks like the deed or predeed whatever will be occurring on the couch, have no fear. If they have to do it on a couch, they are not a serious couple cause the studio didn't even invest in a bed. Does not bode well for the future. If she boinks Rod, can he sue her for breaking dr/pt relationship...I mean if she like smirks cause he is less than stellar?
So many possibilities..

Nicely done, Jardinera.

weell, weellll... This was one of those major lucha libre moments at my house, between the "echale mas", "dale gas" y "otro chingazo, cabron"... what excitement.

the one thing I have learned is that the previews are really not the story (ex., the moment when Rod knockdowns lil sister Dani had us all hating him for being a major league abuser). I'm betting the big boy discovers the little boy works, but won't do "it". Although damn that smooching looked pretty hawt.

Gavi who?

Kudos to Beckster (I think) for nailing the magazine as the source of Ericka's "aha", but "watever" moment.

VV.

Rod to Ericka, why not? He is weakened by the events of the day and he is in no condition to have to explain everything to Gaviota before getting her attention.

He can go to Ericka. With Erica, he can be his selfish self and still get what he wants. She is "easy" and she will comfort him without explanation or complications.

However, he will not be able to perform and will have to deal with the fact that he can only love Gaviota.

I actually laughed out loud when Frankie listed, in distress, the clothes he had to retrieve from the hacienda - and again when Rod was lumbering all over the tables in pursuit of that cad. I think at least one of the writers has a sense of humor!

I really enjoyed Big Papi [shout out to the Red Sox's David Ortiz...another big , strong hombre] stomping on the table and terrorizing Frankie. Then , hurling food on those his fine threads paid for by the Montalvos. I've had moments out when I felt like doing that, but I held back...decorum. I was disappointed to see Rod lying on top of Dr. Erika on her sofa...but you've got to admit that it was H.O.T. and the guy knows how to kiss. I just hope that Dr. Frilly does not pass out from the weight of that mass on top of her...she is pretty slight. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until Monday to see if she was able to put the zip in his doo-dah....I hope not.... that would be the last straw for me.

I still hate Rod for shoving Dani. Rod's apology makes everything ok in his eyes, and Dani indulges his violent behavior. He's not a major league abuser ........ yet.

Great recap! What good punching by Sofie!!Isa was almost down for the count! Those Montalvos sure have tempers!!!

As for Rod doing the horizontal...
we'll see.....

Hope Monday's doesn't disappoint. Now it says "ultimos capitulos".

Thanks....I hope before the lip lock Erica will atleast let Rod know that she has meet Gavi.... sooner or later i have a feeling Gavi is going to confront the two of them.

Rod mocking Fransisco "ma petite Flor" while he pulled the chair for Sofie to sit.....lol hilarious

*hani*

Jardinera, Thanks for keeping the fires lit brightly (as opposed to through a glass darkly...) The whole episode was a celebration for those of us with pent up Tnovela angst and bile. I only regret that I did not tape it so can't watch it again. I love all the commenters' reactions and feel so much has been well described and voted on. But, did anyone notice that Bruno is basically throwing in the towel so much so that the idiotic, doting mama Fedra can intimidate him into letting her phoneeating son step into the pilots seat. I predict a Montalvo, SSA crash of major impact. I think they were teasing us that Aaron pulled a perfectly roasted pig (or goose) out of the fire with such pride at his prowess (applaud me boys) with that night of the living dead run on the family fortune in the futures market. The writers are even playing with us of how the world markets react to pestilence and virus rumors.... Stay tuned. Aaron hasn't finished yet, not is the market finished with his egoistic hubris.
Also someone asked late in the comments on Thursday night about Aaron's history with Isadora. Well...she and Aaron got it on at least once that we know of at the Basuria(Belisario) penthouse. I forget if that was before, during or after her romp with the nubile Hilario.... Probably all of the above, but pretty early on in the plot. The fun part of that story is that Aaron won't admit (even to himself, I bet) that the only woman he was never able to womanize was the strong and true-hearted GAVIOTA!!
I also hate the Erika/Rod rockin on the couch, BUT... they are fully clothed and not even her lipgloss is off yet. Beckster we are all counting on you and I know we won't be disappointed no matter what ! Hasta lunes, amigas y amigos.

I watched Pilar call Roberto(pissed me off)out of her so called concern for her family about Gavi...after knowing what she knows about her sooo classy family she still views Gavi as the problem...when she was told of her family whoring with each other i felt no ounce of pity for her because she fails to see their faults......she cant blame this one on Gavi

Sofia can fight! That was an incredible fun scene/
Now let's see. Can Rodrigo get it up with Ericka? Nah.. I doubt it.. anyway I bet Ericka stops it because she now knows who Gaviota is...

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. After all the excitement and joy I felt watching Sophie and Rod give well deserved beatdowns to the snake meister and Isadora, I never thought for one minute that Rodrigo would take all 4 yrs of pent up anger and frustration straight to Erika. Erika doesn't deserve the resolution phase, that phase, all of it, belongs to Gavi. The only reason that I resent Erika is because she's reaping just rewards that don't belong to her, no way, no how. I'm just as angry with Rodrigo, who gave me a glimmer of hope with his new found take charge attitude, only to return to his sulking, selfish, "give me a bone," please Erika, way. It's obvious that Erika wants to "bone" him, even though she now knows a lot more about his situation with Gavi . Why the great hype up, for such a character let down, once again? The only good I can see coming from this, is that Rod won't be able to "bone" Erika, and will realize, once again, the his heart only belongs to Gavi. Hopefully then, he'll do the right thing.....

Cherylnewmex^^^ ''not even her lipgloss is off yet.''---TEEHEE...Good one, amiga!'' As for the order of Isadora's indiscretions : 1] Hilario ...several times at the hacienda 2] AAron at her apartment on one lonely Rodless evening 3] The King of Smarm ...over and over again. I think that's the chronology of Isa'a lusty adventures. So, if you want to know where the boys are...Isa can help you,,,she always seems to know. I am so hoping that Min finds out about her one-nighter with AAron...hell hath no fury like Chantal. There will be mucho scenery eaten if this confrontation ever happens . [Please, please, please.] That will be must-see TV because the fake fur and animal print will be aflying, Babe. ^^^Susanlynn, waiting impatiently for Monday's episode and Beckster's recap

Well. Well. Well well well. It's raining anvils now, eh?

I think it's hilarious that Isa believes her father will help her. He can't even help himself. He owes her big time, but when she needs something from him I'm sure she won't get it.

So, Sofia's a lefty. Amazing that she could get so many punches and slaps in and not even bruise her soft little knuckles. Who knew she was such a dainty little killing machine?

My favorite part of the brawl was Frankie assuming the submissive-doggy posture when he came out from under the table. And then getting melted ice cream (or whatever it was, but ice cream seems far more likely than chowder) poured on him. And then later stiffing the valet as usual.

Never one to discourage the Rod mocking..He thinks Gavi is totally over him. She is the one who told him to STFU & stay away from her. She was right next to Alonso at the meeting....plus the ever Gay (and I don't mean that in a homosexual way)..but totally Gay quote about Gavi in the Tequila Digest, he thinks Gavi & Alonso are the toast of every StarBucks in the DF area.

What drives me out of my mind is they always tell their secretaries to call people. Jeez are the executives in Mexico such an inbred group that their pointer fingers don't work? Gavi seems to have picked up the bad habit (imitating her betters). Why did Gavi never call the big Sniffer and say, Dude I totally miss you?
Rod could have freaky phone calls like tell me what kind of perfume you are wearing. Sniff sniff..What the hell happened the that Erika scarf that he nicked? Or is better not to ask?

Beckster^^^I actually think that he returned the scarf to her the next day. I thought that he wanted it as a keepsake to put in his diary....a souvenir of their time together at The Last Resort Resort. Very high school, Rod, when the guys are always taking the girls' purses, shoes, tablets, books...anything for attention. I like the way you smell...I've got your scarf.... Will you wear my letter sweater?

susanlynn..Well thank you for that little bit of info...but in my heart I will always have under his car seat, where he can pull it out and sniff in times of stress.

It just seems so much skankier that way.

I think we need to get the Clararita Hacienda...the Agave on the big own is gonna turn to piles of putrid mush.

I was fascinated by Dona Pilar’s little burst of tears. She managed to not move her face or eyes even for that. I’m riveted by the fact that she never moves her eyes left or right. Googling around to find out about her, I see that she was quite the star of the 50s and after and also a great beauty. I found an article about her part in Destilando titled “Martha Roth (Dona Pilar) se sabe todos los trucos de actuacion.” I dunno..

Guys, I think that Rod-Erica's episode will be the snippet from the Gavi's vision after she finds out that "piscologa' is Erika.
I don't think that Rod, knowing his 4-years old history, would be able to do anything at all in his state of mind. He just went thru the hell of discovering desgraciados, lost his son, his sister is on a verge of becoming a killing maschine. And he will suddenly fall for woman whom he doesn't care much?! I think
so.
He ran to Erica for real help because he actually needs one and she is the only one who helped him earlier during his complete down last time.
Eve

Wow, Eve, showing Gavi vision for previews would really be a dirty trick by Televisa! I'm thinking it's just going to be a real but momentary grope due to the elevated emotions of the day before one or both come to their senses. But you know we'll all be glued to the TV Monday night (or to the DVD player later that night for me) to find out!

I guess the actual show will be interesting but I cannot wait for Beckster's recap.

Ditto, Lynne.

I hope somebody out there will make a CD of this Monday episode in case, G_D FORBID, my power goes out or my DVR doesn't work. I can't believe I have to add that one to my list of worries. A resumen would not do the trick for Monday's episode.
My bets are totally on little Rod not working!
They can't let anything happen cuz Gavi would never ever get past that!
Any chance that Ricardito could be Hilario's?
Any chance that San Juana's baby could be other than Hilario's (I missed a few episodes in September so I'd like to know)

Sofie so won that fight!
That was like such a Springer act!
Seems like Gavi is given something to think about!
As for Erika she needs to calmly let Rod go and face that he is not worth it.
Loved this recap!

Eva..
his sister is on a verge of becoming a killing maschine..

Thank Gawd I wasn't drinking anything when I read this or it would have been painful diet coke out the nose.

Carole:
Any chance that Ricardito could be Hilario's?

To Richardito...the answer is no..it is Frankies kid..
SanWanna..well I guess it is possible..but I'm betting it is Hil's so he will have to give up his worldly modeling ways and return to the land

Ugh those previews make me want to stomp my highest heels on Rod and grind him into the earth. Naturally every guy who finds out his son isn't his even tho he never did the deed, and his wife who he ignored went elsewhere, runs to the nearest warm body. God I hope he fails BIG time because Dr. Unethical isn't going to call a halt. Then again he could suddenly call E by Gavi's name and that would put the kibosh on the action or lack of it..

Technically Sofia's punch wasn't a hook but a left cross and who knew the wimp had it in her. Got to love those classy Montalvo's airing all their dirty laundry in a posh restaurant. One heart attack coming for Pillar when she hears about it.

Gavi needs to take the job in London and make that overgrown dolt come crawling to her on hands and knees. He is going to need Clarita's land to save the fortunes of the the Montalvos and their disease ridden fields. Can;t help wondering if the sick field is a metaphor for the whole family. Pretty on the outside and slowly rotting on the inside.

Poor Aron and Fedra - they knew about Ricky and kept it a secret and now their bomb is just gone pffit. One phone throwing/abuse scene coming.

IMHO, the acting award for this episode goes to the lovely Martha Julia for telling Rod straight-up what a washout as a hubby he was, then taking a smack-down from Sofia, and finally looking lost and uncertain with her baby in the lobby of her plush building, the concierge staring discreetly down at the desk. I also think Isa had more than one round with Aaron, if I recall correctly. ( Aaron never brings this up--he only makes insinuations about Gavi, whom he couldn't touch! ) Despite her materialistic aspirations, Isa never loses sight of her love for her baby, whom she easily could have sold to Rod, or her desire for a "normal" life with its father. For exhibiting strong maternal instincts, one of the culture's strongest values, Isa earns redemption points. Francisco, denying his mother, and neglecting his sacred trust, the land, proves once again that the road to hell is paved with glass.

Excellent point about Isa and her maternal insticts. It is her redeeming characteristic and she is certain to be a better mother than her own ever was. It is hard to fault her for straying when she married Rod hoping for some kind of life and ended up being ignored. Rod was out of line for ripping into her about her unfaithfulness when he has always been unfaithful to her (in thought if not in deed). She really was powerful in all her scenes last night moving her up into the tatlent class with Sergio and Chantal.

Regarding Gavie's need to go to London and make rod chase after her. Look at Fern and lety. When he said he was leaving, then she realized she could not have the two of them and she had to choose. Even if aldo did not push it, one could see the look on her face when she thought he would not be around. Its things like this that make them think. Regarding rod going to Erika. I dont know where the brains are of the writers. I think a lot of people would have loved to see him run to Gavi, now that he is free, the child is not his and they can good into the sunset together. Instead, he goes to Erika.

Jest sayin from a realistic stand point..Rod could visit a professional (not shrink)..for his pent up frustration. No harm no foul..but Rod is such an AssHat that if he boinks Erika..he will be all in love. As for him turning to Gavi, the way she treated him at the house, he be a fool. He probably thinks if he knocked at the door, Dr Blondie would be wedged between the two mujers with a big bowl of popcorn.

So he must turn to Erika..whatever, ewwwww and that foo-foo dress, I made my husband watch it last night..as he missed it Fri & then on Univision there was some awful 80's big hair movie with women wearing foo-foo dresses in discos...yes the mujer was a prostituta..bwhaaa

''Dr. Blondie would be wedged between the two mujeres with a bowl of popcorn.''.....hahahahah...Beckster, you always provide me with such VIVID mental images. I can't wait for your recap of tomorrow night's episode !! Get a good night's sleep , drink lots of water, and eat sensibly so that you are ready for the big game. Consider this the pep rally. Anticipation !!!!1

I thought Isa was too yelly. But I do agree that she exhibited strong-mommy-instincts that I had never really seen before. She always seemed to be holding bignotRodbaby sideways, and not supporting the head, or having the maid stash the baby. The only loving baby scene was with Rod, and even he jounced him a little hard. No we know what happened to the Montalvos to make them stupid--shaken not stirred...Francisco actually whined about his panuelos finos. somebody shoot him please.
Cannot wait til Monday; the show finally started getting good.

VV.

Hope Rod doesn't get too much hotter with his lustful looks and kisses with PseudoDr. Erika because to be fair, that means Gavi would have to have some hot besos with DR. Blondie PrissyPants and I really can't stomach that.

Scintillating recap Jardinera, thanks for your work!

I really enjoyed this action-packed episode but all the angst gave me a bit of a stomach ache. Rod and Sofia have serious anger management issues, that's for sure. When Isa laid into Rod I couldn't help but agree that she had a point. She was on fire.

I have a tender spot for Frankie, not sure why, he is just so obviously a gold-digging weakling and he doesn't even try to hide it.

Thanks Jardinera for a totally enjoyable recap of a most thrilling episode. Isa's speech to Rod was right on target. As far as that scene with Rod lying on top of Erika, I'm hoping that that turns out to be someone's dream or imagination. Otherwise, I will totally lose the little respect I have left for him. In the past I've made excuses for his behavior or labeled his actions as someone else's fault. That way in my imagination he'd remain hawt and desirable even though I knew that in his present impotent condition he wouldn't even make a good one night stand. Right now I see him as a man who makes at least 1 bad decision per day, and who needs someone else to solve his problems (or to tell him that he has a problem for that matter). One last coment. I hope Minerva finds out about Isa and Aaron. Only I hope that Isa is on a slow boat to China and calls Minerva on her cell to laugh in her face and give her the news. In other words. It'll serve Minerva right not to be able to do anything about it. PS: to the person who said they might need a copy of Monday night's episode. Let me know if you do.
This episode is not to be missed:)

From what little I did see of Rod/Erika, she actually looked pretty uncomfortable squooshed beneath him. :)

Julie/decie: Thanks for your corrections/reminders. I added those in. > ; 3 )

Sylvia et al, you're welcome. We have quite an eclectic group here, and as always, I appreciate that you all faithfully return every weekend to read and comment.

As you can probably tell, at this point I have very little sympathy left for either Rod or Isa's characters. Right now I am feeling in spades the disdain for this social class that Gaitan obviously holds for them all. Wish I could see more humor in it, but, well maybe something on a subconscious level has struck too close to home, or maybe 7 months is just too darned long to live with this set of self-absorbed and cruel crazies!

--As for Sofia, she won't get back into my good graces till she apologizes, preferably on her knees, to Gavi for all the grief she has selfishly heaped by the buckets-full on her.
========
Yeah, let's hope the previews were just a figment of Erika's imagination, but I won't hold my breath. Rod has got to get to the point where he is certain his mojo can machinate for all mujeres. Then he will feel confident to return to Gavi and fight for her in a "reasoned and reasonable" way. We and then Erika will just have to suffer through as best we can till then........

Nice thought if the lying on scene was a figment of Erika imagination however if she was just imagining it I don't think she would have looked like she had two hundred pounds of "dead" weight squashing her.

I really feel sorry for actual psychiatrists in Mexico when they see their profession full of hot babes falling in love with their patients. In reality Dr. Flirty should know perfectly well that transference goes from the patient to the doctor not the other way. But at least she hasn't spend the time telling everyone how "professional she is." LOL

Jardinera, that recap was delightful. Thank you for spending so much time on the details!

Not that I'm on Rod's side, but I don't blame him for going to Erica after this. Gav was the one that repeated to him a million times that she can't stand him anymore. It bugs me that she's now sitting around crying hoping he'll come back to her out of the blue. All this ridiculous pride is getting old an boring. If she wants him back then she should stop telling him to back off.

Also, remember that Rod told Dani and Sofia that he has hurt Gavi enough and doesn't have the face to bug her with any of his problems anymore.

Neveretheless, seeing Rod acing so desperate with Erica was apalling. He's not the same in my eyes, and it's the producers' fault. In any case, I don't think it will happen between them; i think the producers are just trying to fool us in believing that Rod will get over Gav.

decie Girl -- it is usual for the transference to go from patient/client to therapist. But not unheard of for it to go the opposite way around. It's called "counter-transference" and that's why shrinks have shrinks --so they can talk about such matters. Erika has discussed her feelings about Rod, but I couldn't tell if the man was her shrink or a friend. Another time she talked to someone about Rod over the phone. I am so ready for her to come to her senses and act like a grownup and a professional.

Great recap, Jardinera. The fight scene was great, especially Frankie crawling under the table while Rod danced above him. We're all fortunate--even if the Hollywood writers are on strike, we still have our telenovlea world for entertainment.

La Paloma: Welcome! Thanks, ...and it's all "in the can" as they used to say, so we will not be forced into reruns!
