Oh, happy day! Pirates!

Jeanne (just arrived home at midnight from a 9-hour drive)

I love the commercials now, they are becoming more alluring every night. And the William Levy does look like a cutey. Anyone ever see him in other TN's?
Rulli is crying in several scenes so I guess he comes back from being on a ship but he can't be a pirate. Isn't there a no crying rule for pirates (or they have to walk the plank)?? Fernando, looks yumm. Willa likes the parts where he is on a horse, reminds her of Alborada and all the beautiful horses. Usually she just likes dog shows (I mean real dog shows not just bad telenovelas).

You must have read my mind! I was just going to come on here to ask if anyone knew when it was starting.

Linda
con tantas ganas de ver a algunos piratas guapísimos.

Yeah ! That's what I'm talking about. My timbers are already shivering!!! I've been enjoying the previews, too. They showed a lot during the awards show last night. William Levy is not my cuppa tea, but I'm sure that many will enjoy him. He looks a little like a young Brad Pitt with a longer face. I appreciate Fernando on horseback. Those scenes are reminiscent of my fav telenovela Alborada. [It was nice to see Lucero [Hippolita] host the awards show. Welcome home , Jeanne. That was a long trip. I'm sure that it feels good to be back home. P.S. If you want to see Colombia [late 19th century], go to see ''Love in the Time of Cholera.'' It's a unique and intriguing love story. I really enjoyed it. PIRATES~~~SET SAIL FOR THE OPEN SEAS.

Jeanne: er Cap'n Cash - you must be driven (pardon the pun) to post after a 9 hour drive! Raise the skull and crossbones cuz I am over ready!

Susanlynn: I am so glad to hear about Love in the Time of Cholera. I was waiting to go back to the movies, but only for something special and unique. I was wondering about that one, too.

cherylnewmex: check out the Wm. Levy web pages on Google. It'll curl your toenails --and Willa's too! That's all I'm gonna say..... Love that pirate photo of her! ; ? ))

linda: welcome aboard!

Melinama/Beckster/J.R./Subs:

This changes things a bit for the recappers' first week line-up and Melinama's "first night's rights" would fall on beckster's new night after her 2 1/2 hr. finale recap the night before. (You're a trooper, beckster!) If Melinama still does the first night, I can still take Melinama's Wednesday as earlier planned.

Has anyone read the book ''Love in the Time of Cholera?'' I'm wondering how closely the movie version followed the book. I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

Jardinera, Jardinera, Well shiver MY timbers. That google lead to Wm. Levy is waking me up better than the steaming cup of coffee in front of me. Wowzer, but yeah, he is looking illegally young in some of the shots. In the Pasión previews the beard and long hair have aged him nicely, but just for eye candy mind ya. Willa, who has her own one track mind preferred the one of him "bareback" with the horse, of course.

Yay! I can hardly wait!! A friend at work and I love to discuss the show and the other ladies there are always curious about what we're talking about. Wish we could convince them to watch...they could learn Spanish and enjoy seeing the buff guys!!!:)

Cherylnewmex: I was definitely trying to remain im-"pervi"-ous to those photos which I would say tend toward Ambercrombie & Fitch in which and to whom fashion is usually blowin' in the wind..... arf!

Susanlynn - Thanks for the welcome home! My work car registered 1,225 miles since last Sunday. Yikes.

Jardinera - Yes, I was driven :-) and had withdrawal not being able to watch and read for several days. I was drinking espresso (Starbucks Double Shot was the one I drank for the last four hours, I parsed it out so I would get heart palpitations) and lasted with no drowsiness, but couldn't wind down to sleep when I got home at midnight my time. So I was still up messing around a while more. When I slept, though, I slept HARD!

Hoorah!!! Pirates on the horizon!

Welcome home Cap'n Cash. Sounds like the fleet will set sail on the 4th.

Woweeee, it looks like this telenovela will be a veritable babe fest. I'm really liking the commercials too. Not only do I not FF but I usually rewind. Can't wait!!

Thanks, Cap'n Eve! Let's all get our trunks packed!

Jeanne

I'll have to make a run to Ye Olde Liquor Store before the 4th to pick up a yohoho and a bottle of rum for the big premiere. I've been thinking of wearing a costume to watch the show, but that would probably be ye olde last straw for hub...me sitting on the couch in pirate garb. Hmmm...Then again.... he might like it. Pirates are sassy.

Sweet - I'm ready. Is the lineup set for recapping this show? I know I'm on Friday, that's all I know.

I would be interested in trying my hand at recapping an episode of Pasión, if the lineup isn't set yet.

Let me know!

Hi Linda, here is the Pasion recap team: Monday, Keri; Tuesday, Beckster; Wednesday, Melinama; Thursday, Margaret (though she says she can't post until latish the next day - if this proves to be a problem, Marycelis gets the spot); Friday, Chris.

However, since you are interested be sure to stand by in the event that someone needs a sub.

-Sylvia

Just for the record, since I know it has confused some folks, "Keri" a.k.a. "Jardinera".

>~ ; 3 )

P.S. I am still wondering how to get a picture as part of my signature like cheryl and sylvia!

Jardinera, The picture addition is a good trick but here is how I did it since I don't have my own web site. In your blogger profile there is a space for adding a URL for a picture.
First, go to one of your old recap postings, doesn't matter which, but hit the edit button. Then look at the little picture icon on the frame and press it. Now it will offer you buttons and upload choices. If you have a picture you like on your own computer, choose it and follow the upload procedure.
Second, look at the several lines of code that have been added at the top of your posting. There should be two URL's that you can make out in this list of code. Choose the second URL, then highlight the URL without the quotes or other marks surrounding it and hit Copy on your browser.
Third, go back to your blogger profile to the picture add spot and do a paste into that frame.
It should work.
Last, you can go back to that old recap once again in edit mode and delete the picture from your recap. It should remain in your blogger profile.
Let me know if this works. I figured this out by reading the directions on the blogger profile pages about 200 times until I understood them.

Will give it a try. Tks!

Hi Linda,
We're full for Pasion, but how about an Amar slot, or Monday Juan Querendon?

Thursday JR will do until Amar ends.

Technotukey test here!

2nd technoturkey test here!

Jardinera~~~Wow !!! I like the Skull and Crossbones !!! As the most techno-challenged of anyone here, I am just proud that I was able [with help] to learn to post my name in the heading...remember that big debate a year ago when I was on vacation for awhile ???~~~Susanlynn, who no longer has to signoff in this manner but who is still hunting and pecking toward the borders of the 21st century...take me away in time Fernandito to a world sin computers and cellphones

I'll bring back the skull and crossbones once the pirate stuff starts. Cherylnewmex's got the instructions down if ya want 'em for your own. You can google up some free clip art sites to scavenge through for pictures to make avatars. All I know is I keep kicking and scratching my way up that 21st century cliffside and I never get to the top!!

Hey, Cheryl and Susanlynn: We saw Love in the Time of Cholera this afternoon and we enjoyed it. It was funny how many telenovela elements there were, and how some of the ways of saying things they'd translated strangely into an English script so literally, but you knew it in the Spanish and it was something Clarita would say. They had some American actors in it, but I thought the lead and a few of the secondary characters were familiar faces from Mexican telenovelas.

Jardinera- Wow, I saw Love in the Time of Cholera this afternoon too. I loved it. The main character is played by Javier Bardem who is Spanish and one of my favorite actors ever. Before Night Falls, and Mar Adentro are heavy dramas but fabulous work. He is from a family of actors Also Benjamin Bratt of Law and Order and Hector Alizando who has been on TV forever. Both actors are American born of Hispanic parents. John Leguizamo, originally from Colombia was memorable as a cross dresser in To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar. He usually plays comedic roles but he was good as the father.
I haven't been to Colombia since 1973 so the cinephotography was stunning and nostalgic.

Recognized Bratt, Elizondo for sure and Leguizamo's face mostly. Bardem actually seemed familiar along with the heroine's as possible from SA telenovelas? Anyway, they were all terrific in their parts and we were just blown away by the cinemaphotography.

Jardinera and Cherylnewmex~~~I enjoyed the movie, too...the scenery, the costumes, the acting. However, I am curious as to how closely it followed the novel. Usually the film version of a book has several changes. [If you both read and saw ''Gone with the Wind'' , you know that the film did not follow the book exactly.] Now I am anxious to read this book. I couldn't help comparing the lead actor's dilemma to Rodrigo's situation. How long would you wait for love ? In the movie, it is clear that the lead actor definitely did not equate sex with love. In his own way, he felt that he remained faithful to his onetruelove his whole life. In ''Destilando Amor,'' the concepts of sex and love are tied together. Interesting difference between these 2 hombres, no ???

And the William Levy does look like a cutey. Anyone ever see him in other TN's

yes, he is cute but sort of a wooden actor. The five of us who suffered through Acorralada know him as one of the stars of that show. In Acorralada, they would frequently show Levy lounging shirtless on a bed, beach or poolside. We did not really complain.

They wrote him out near the end because he must have been starting Pasion. He came back for the finale. He played a character called Larry, but we called him Lunkhead because he was so dumb. Here's hoping he will have a better part in the new show.

Susanlynn, I have not read the book but discussed it with a classmate in Mex.Lit. yesterday who said the courting, letter writing early parts are greatly expanded in the book. I don't know what else is different but I too want to read it now and in Spanish. When I read 100 Yrs of Solitude I had just arrived in Colombia in 1973 and found it a true hearted emotional guide to what I felt about the countryside at that time. Now I am preparing to read it again but this time in Spanish. I am a devotee of the magical realism genre that takes it's spirit guide/padrino to be GGM.

Oh, and NinaK, Thanks for the warning about Wm. Levy, somehow I don't think I will notice his lack of acting ability since even the previews show him shedding clothes already...So I think it's a fair trade to get eye candy instead of brain candy.
