Destilando Amor, 11/30/07: A Woman Scorned X 2 -- The Playboy Gets Played

The two women Aaron has scorned are finally facing off and facing facts. Yes indeedy it's Aaron's two redheads in a righteous rough-and-tumble over the man they've fought for these past four years. Pammy, in a staring match with malevolent Minnie, is in her terri-er slippers and bathrobe. (What is it with costuming and these granny-fuzz slippers and terr-ier cloth robes they're always putting these sexy starlets in, anyway? I mean, some weirdo in that group, with a grandma fetish, is obviously getting his jollies seeing long legs scraping around in fuzzy flats with gawd-awful ugly-robes barely covering their tushes.) Minnie accuses Pam of planning the whole scenario out of revenge and Pammy asks her if things had been reversed and she'd been the one made a world-renowned laughing stock after such a world-class jilt, wouldn't she have done the same?

Minnie says perhaps, but then she would know that she deserved it for getting involved with a married man. ""If you were in my shoes you'd have reacted the same as I. You, though, not only got involved with a married man, but a man who doesn't love you, to boot. Or, how else do you explain him coming back to me?"

Pammy answers that Aaron said it was only because he felt compromised since Minnie could destroy him with the information she had about his illegal tequila shipments. Red-faced, Minnie says, "Yeah, well, he only came back to you to recover what you stole from him." Pam punts and says, "I have no intention of arguing this with you. He no longer interests me. "

Pammy tells Minnie that she no longer cares whether Aaron really loved her or not since he's no longer on top of that pedestal she'd always put him on. Yep, her dirty tricks are done with and she and that Ronald-McDonald red mane of hers never intend on seeing him again. She apologizes then because she didn't realize Minnie was expecting.

Minnie wants it straight. "I am not puttin' distance between me and you till I get the whole truth about you and him!" Pammy starts up the tape recorder hidden in her phone to let Minnie hear the conversation she had with Aaron. Minnie gets a real smack in the face hearing her beloved call her a sneaking, old ugly biddy, whining about the circumstances that forced him to return to her. Pammie then shows Minnie the two tickets to Tubaloo and says these are proof that he played both of them for fools.

Here it seems that Pam's need for vengeance and her will along with it are both as squishy as her silicone smile. They've oozed out of her just like someone popping a pin into that precious pillowy pout of hers. Pam gets the USB and the CD which contain the proof of Aaron's illegal shipments and hands them over to Minnie, along with the responsibility for two other innocent lives this bubble-lipped bimbo refuses to consider: people who are counting on Pammy to present it and prove their innocence, and to save them from wrongfully spending 20 years in purgatorious prisondom paying for a crime she darn well knows her lover actually committed.

Bulbous bubble-lips tells Minnie that she won't be responsible a second time for Minnie's losing a child. She says she has promised Aaron she wouldn't appear to testify against him and she plans to keep that promise. So, only Minnie knows what she will do with this evidence. (Sure as shootin' Pammy couldn't have had a clue, considering Minnerva's long history of greed and graft at the side of Aaron and the felonious Fedra.....) We are left to suppose Pam hopes Minnie will do the right thing but for all the wrong reasons, i.e., revenge.
==============

Minnie gets home and finds Aaron waiting for her with his "heart dangling by a thread". She assures Aaron that Pammy managed to destroy their marriage, and he right along with her since he jumped into bed with her. He tries to explain it all away by saying because of the USB he was forced to fool around with her since it was their future at stake; but Minnie's had enough and won't listen to anymore of his excuses.

"--Don't you dare touch me! What excuses are you going to make this time? That it wasn't you I found half naked in her apartment, or that I was just hallucinating?" "--It was all just a ruse, a trick to get back at us because she knew I needed the USB. She took advantage of me." "--Sure, I suppose she forced you to get undressed and to make love with her?" "--Well, a little bit, yes.....There's an explanation if you'd just listen. We have got to get away from her. She's destroying us." He gets down on his knees to her and pats her pregnant belly. "You and little Aaron are the most important thing in my life. Give me this one last chance."

Minnie finally realizes that they invented the phrase "getting deep in here" to describe guys like Aaron and their cock-n-bull stories. "We'll talk after you give your testimony tomorrow," she says and stomps off, leaving Aaron sitting on his couch, tearfully sucking down whiskey.

In London, meanwhile, Avellaneda congratulates everyone for having gotten the majority in the vote during the Conference. He then assigns them all to a tour of various countries to follow up on that vote and to smooth things over by discussing what it will mean to the countries involved who were not initially in favor of it. Alonso is to head off to Argentina while Olavarrea and Gavi are headed to Eastern Europe for 10 days. Once they return all of them will be given time off for vacation. Alonso encourages Gavi afterward to take the time off she's being given.
============

The next day at the hearing Aaron makes his acknowledgment to the judge and says that because of delaying tactics in Rod's defense of his business dealings, Aaron's assets have been frozen so he is losing enormous amounts of money daily and wants to sue Rodrigo for it back. Videgaray gets to ask him first, though, for the record, just how he financed his Agave Enterprises in Miami. Aaron is surprised by the question and says he couldn't possibly give him an answer off the top of his head.

Nestor then asks Lluvia if she realizes that she will be held liable for other charges regarding her breach of trust and any damages done to the shipping division of the company. He advises her that her sentence will be much less if she confesses to the court that she was under somebody else's orders, or at least that she didn't act alone. Lluvia says she understands but still denies that anyone of the other Montalvo's gave her instructions to sign off on the illicit shipments.

Patricio knows Lluvia is down for the count and tells his aunt that life won't be worth living with Lluvia sent away. Fedra simply hisses at him not to be bothered. He and Lluvia exchange longing glances and Pat gets fidgety. The judge moves for another court date to set a sentence for her punishment. At that moment Pat is desperate to save her and stands up. "NO! No more hearings!" He turns around to Aaron. "I warned you that my life was meaningless without Lluvia. If she isn't free then I don't want to be either!"

Patricio then shocks the entire courtroom as he retracts his earlier statement. He admits that he ordered Lluvia to sign the shipping orders, that Aaron colluded with his attorney, Oñate, who organized everything in order to finance the launching of Turquoise Agave, and that he was aware of the entire scheme from the beginning. He explains then that neither Gavi nor Rod knew what they were signing and were unfamiliar with the company's shipping procedures, and Oñate was in charge of falsifying the CRT's stamps of certification.

Just then Minnie, the bitch-witch herself, who as we all know is never one to lose an opportunity to cause a real stir when making an entrance, appears at the trial and asks to give her testimony. Aaron is stammeringly impactado. "Wh-what are you doing here?" "--Can't you guess?" says Bitch-witch with a bellyful of baby. "---B-b-b-but you're putting little Aaron's future at risk!"

Poor Bruno, always the last to know, turns to Fedra confused, and asks what is going on. Fedra replies that someone obviously has put Minnie up to this, to hurt their Aaron.

Minnie hands over the USB memory and a CD to the judge saying that this is proof that demonstrates her husband is a crook. Aaron is now wide-eyed-my-goose-is-cooked impactado; Rod is jumping for joy impactado behind his jail bars. Realizing what's in store for them all, Bruno is devastated. Fedra is ready to bite her nails down to the quick as Minnie tells Aaron in front of the whole courtroom that she warned him when she found him in the hot-tub with Pamela Torreblanca that what he was doing to the family and to the business was criminal and she knew he was adulterating his tequila. Aaron scrambles to tell the judge that this is simply a reprisal of a jealous wife because of their marital problems. The judge and the M.P. have their doubts and has her sit down to answer Videgaray's questions.

On the record Minnie tells Nestor that on the CD (which Pammy had the investigative law firm make but didn't have the stomach to use against Aaron) is a detailed rundown of all the illegal shipments, dates and destinations Aaron made regarding Turquoise Agave. Aaron tells the judge that it is a skillful ploy by the defense to destroy him and that the judge shouldn't be fooled by two jealous and resentful women -- a bad move, considering the judge is a woman herself. Guess Aaron never heard of a thing called Karma.

Minnie takes out the mini-cassette for the judge and M.P. and puts it into the recorder she's brought along just for this purpose and plays it. On it is Aaron asking Pam for the USB back, definitely telling her how he'll be happy as a pig in mud to get hold of it. She testifies that Aaron and Oñate used Rod and Mariana Franco and that Lluvia was forced, along with Patricio, to participate in his schemes. In particular, Lluvia was pressured and didn't participate in the planning and never received anything in return. As for Mariana Franco, she says, with a definite pucker and a frown as she looks at her hands in her lap, she has no evidence of her involvement in anything.
===========

Meanwhile, in London Gavi is trying to get some news about Montalvo Corp.'s situation from her contact, Lascuráin, who says all he knows is that the family is involved in some sort of irregular liquor exportation scandal. She discusses the situation with Alonso who asks if the Montalvo's could truly have been involved in something like that. Gavi tells him about the rumors when she worked for the Corporation and how when she and Rod went to the various ports to investigate they were unable to find anything out of order.
========

Back at the hearing Minnie accuses Fedra of being complicit. Fedra jumps up and tries to claim it's a conspiracy and to run out of the room, but she is stopped by Bruno, who throws her back in her chair and tells her she's not going anywhere till the hearing is over.
===========

Gavi continues her conversation with Alonso and makes some nasty aside that Rod is probably in his hacienda right now, so who knows what's up with him.
=============

The judge accepts the evidence and Vid makes a plea to the judge to accept the testimonies of all involved along with the USB and the CD and to exonerate his client from all charges. The judge decides in Rod's favor. (Cheers all around.) Bruno freezes Fedra out with one mean, icy stare before he walks off. Pat goes to Lluvia and assures her they'll soon be together again.

Through the cell bars Rod thanks Pat for his testimony and Pat apologizes for covering up for Aaron all this time and says he's ashamed of his actions then walks away. Rod confronts Aaron. "Come here, Aaron!" Rod is smiling through a triumphant sneer. Aaron walks over as Rod tells him soon he'll be taking his place behind these bars. Aaron tells him it's not over till its over and threatens that he is going to make certain Gavi is brought back from London and jailed. "I'm certain you'd rather see her behind bars than together with Alonso Santoveñia," he taunts, trying in a last ditch effort to make Rod believe that she's thrown him over for her ex-boss. "You've certainly seen the news footage on television." Rod swears to Aaron that he'll do everything in his power to stop Aaron from having the pleasure of seeing Gaviota behind bars.

Rod congratulates Aaron then in his successful attempt to destroy the business, the family, and his father's moral support, not to mention getting him thrown into jail, but says he won't be at peace until he's seen Aaron stripped of everything. He's going to be the one picking Aaron's cell and will make certain it is the most remote, dark and narrow little space there is since he's now going to be suing Aaron! In fact, he plans on coming to visit Aaron weekly just to make sure and to take comfort in his being there. Aaron sneers back and says forget it, it isn't gonna happen 'cuz the likes of Aaron Montalvo wasn't made for jail.

The judge then informs Vid that Gavi is exonerated from any charges also. Nestor, Dani and Sofia promise to call Gavi and to tell her all that's happened and what Rod did for her. They promise they'll have her there the next day, even. Rod says he's dying to get out but doesn't intend to look for Gavi now since he figures she's involved with Alonso over in Europe and she is over him. Dani scolds him for saying this and tells him it's only work related and that he knows better than anyone how much she loves him. He finally gives in and says they can call her for him. Then Nestor tells him that he should be out of jail in 48 hours. No one lets on about Pilar's stroke and being close to death.
=========

Oñate is on the telephone and laughing at the fact that in Tubaloo there were several dead people because they had to add methanol to the distilling processing as the filler, and the dummies drank it. He's laughing his head off because of it when Interpol agents arrive and slap handcuffs on him.
================

Elvis is very emotional and he cries to Pilar that she's his only grandmother, that he'd give up being with Dani, the love of his life, if she asked him to, provided that she'd wake up from her coma. Pilar hears him it seems, at some level, and though she's still got her eyes closed, she reaches for him and squeezes his hand.
==========

Back at what's left of Montalvo Corp. and Aaron's office, Bruno is yelling at Patricio that he saved nobody. In fact, he tells him, Pat cold bloodedly manipulated Rod into jail, ended his career, destroyed the company's reputation and the family's good name, right along with the shipping company he ran, all things that his father labored for years to sustain; and if that weren't all, he along with Aaron, brought his mother to the brink of death.

When Bruno opens the door to leave there are Aaron and Fedra listening to everything through the cracks. Bruno tells Aaron they'll get decent lawyers, ones with a sense of ethics to defend them and they'll face their consequences like men. Aaron ignores this and tries to persuade Patricio to flee to Tubaloo with him. He refuses and Bruno demands they both stay and face their consequences with dignity. God knows where they'll find it, but he won't stand to have his family, on top of everything else, become a horde of fugitives from the law.

Fedra screams at Bruno then for blaming it all on his son. He gives her a disgusted look and says Aaron's not the only one to blame; she's also to blame. He doesn't even know her anymore and he wonders how she could have covered for such vile, mean deeds.

As Bruno walks away he says to Aaron and Patricio, "Well, I guess you'll have to learn what it is to be decent men --like your grandfather, and like me-- from behind bars."
=========

In another conference room Soto, Aaron and Patricio consider their fate and their options. Pat apologizes for turning on blood but says Aaron left him no alternative. Aaron again tries to convince him to go to Tubaloo with him where he is certain they'll be safe. Pat says no, he is not leaving Lluvia and walks out.

Soto then advises Aaron to change his destination as a month ago there was a mass fatality in Tubaloo due to the population ingesting the liquor concoction he sold through Oñate. Aaron dismisses this because it was all sold through a ghost company and the mishap cannot be traced to him. Soto leaves in frustration.

Aaron calls Minnie from the empty conference room to come join him. He knows all is lost and he has to flee the country. Otherwise he'll be sent to prison and he would rather die first. (We can only hope.) He has the nerve to tell her that she overdid it with the vengeance thing, because he did it all for the three of them, and that he forgives her and would really like one last chance. He doesn't want to lose her and the child. Minnie's eyes are swollen from a whole day of tears; she refuses to join him and says they're over. She hangs up and cries over losing him.
================

Totally ignoring the nurse's orders to leave Pilar's restricted room in the INTENSIVE CARE area, Dani and Sofia have rushed in determined to give Pilar the exciting news that Rod was let free and will be getting out of jail soon.
==========

Fedra rushes to speak with Bruno. He has things to think over and doesn't want her around. She whines that he is being too hard on her for making a mistake. Bruno, totally disgusted with her, realizes who he's been married to all this time, and tries to forcibly throw her out, but she clings to him. "--A mistake?" he asks her in disbelief. "A mistake that finished off everything!!" "--How can you let your children be put in jail?" she screams. "If you won't help them then I will!"

The phone rings and Bruno answers. He says, "Well, Patricio, that was to be expected." Fedra asks what Patricio wanted. Bruno says, "That was the police coming to take Patricio to jail. Don't feel strange if the next one is from your son." He turns on his heel and leaves. Fedra is crying hysterically.
==========

Pilar must have heard the girls' exciting news at some conscious level. She starts gasping for air and begins suffering cardiac failure. The sisters turn hysterical while Elvis races out to look for the people with the crash carts.
=================

In his lonely jail cell Rod turns and fingers his taped up newspaper photo of Gavi (the one he must have ripped out when nobody was looking that day a while back). He thinks to himself that he hopes she will forgive him for having told her he didn't love her and that he trusts in her love being greater than her disappointment in him.
===========

In the waiting room Dani, Sofia, Elvis and James are worried that Pilar will die. Sofia says it'll all be on Aaron's head if she does. (Well, not quite, you ditz! They told you not to bother the old lady. She was in intensive care, after all. They call it that for a reason! I-N-T-E-N-S-I-V-E- C-A-R-E, as in any unusual excitement or shock to the system can kill, duh!)
=========

In his chartered jet Aaron is on his cell with Oñate telling him the plan is to relocate to Tubaloo for a little while and so he should fly out first thing the next morning and meet Aaron in Molucas Palas. Oñate asks about Minnie joining them. Aaron says he's certain when she gets over her tantrum she'll catch up to him. As the camera pulls back we see that this is all a ruse by Interpol to track Aaron down using Oñate as bait.
=========

At the hospital Bruno arrives as the doctor tells the family that Pilar has suffered a respiratory problem and her blood pressure is very high. If they cannot control it she may not last the night.

===========

Back in Gavi's posh pad in that very fashionable part of London overlooking the Thames, with an impressive view of Big Ben and Parliament, Alonso says good-bye to Clarita and Gavi. Before he leaves he suggests that he and Gavi spend their vacation together. She says that she'll think about it and they'll talk when they get back from their business trips. He smiles, gives her a peck on the cheek, then leaves.

Once Alonso is gone Clarita complains to Gavi that God will never forgive her if she's got Alonso going around with false hopes again. She asks Gavi to accept the fact that she might be starting to feel something for her ex-boss after all. At first Gavi objects, saying she's not in love with him, but then she smiles and says that he's respectful of her and treats her well, and that she feels happy and comfortable when she's with him. Clarita smiles and says, "Well then, you see. You are attracted to him." Gavi has to admit that she probably is.
==========

Pat is now in jail with Rod and keeping him company at dinner. Pat apologizes again and Rod says he knows he was only being blackmailed and pressured by Aaron. The important thing is that he came clean and told the truth, so surely he won't be in jail very long. Rod promises then that Pat will have the full support of the family once Rod is released and out.

Back in her room Pilar's vital signs go flat. She suddenly opens her eyes to a bright white enveloping light.

What an episode and who knew how vindictive Minnie was. I really thought she would hang on to the evidence as a weapon over Aron but she did the right thing for all the wrong reasons. Yet another episode when no cell phones died !

Bruno was great, throwing Fedra into a chair and then really letting her have it. I just kept hoping he would tell her to pack her crap and get out that he was going to divorce her.

Looks like Aron is walking into a trap and will be headed for prison time in Eastern Europe which will be much worse than Mexico. Either that or he'll try and make a run for it and get shot. It looked like Onate had been worked over pretty good.

Monday certainly has a ton of stuff to clear up to get the the final wedding scene. I only hope we get some closure for all those folks who have vanished into the ether in the last few days and weeks.

Wow, Jardinera, what an awesome recap. Thank you. From lower Ala

Wow! thanks jardinera for the well detailed recap. (the producers sure filled every moment in these last remaining episodes will a lot of activity and details.)

J.R. :)

Superb recap, Jardinera. Brava, brava. As another commentator pointed out, you never miss a thing.

Yeah, Decie Girl, all during the Bruno/Fedra scene I was also wondering if he would tell her he would divorce her. But then it's a Catholic country -- maybe they'll just be alienated instead. Didn't he also tell her it was all over now?

Really don't get the Elvis/Abuela stuff. What was that about little morenito Elvis IV? But all the Abuelita-sobbing thing was kind of weird. Sorry, didn't get it.

Monday does indeed have a ton of stuff to clear up before the wedding scene. What's going to happen with Hilario and SanJuana? What's going to happen with Acacia? Everybody noticed of course that James is back in Chicken Shirt this time!

And poor Alonso, and the other kabongos - what will be their consolation prizes? And of course, Meester Thomas chess-chess-chess -- what will become of that new romance with Clarita? A whole new telenovela! Will Rod be able to keep it together, lose the tantrums? Clearly Gavi prefers Mexico to Europe, but will she give up her Tequila Profession for good?

I'm on the edge of my chair in anticipation! Man, can we make it through the weekend until Monday's 2-1/2 hour finale? Oooh, am so looking forward to tied up loose ends!

Thanks for the recaps everyone!

Thanks, guys. --As for Elvis IV, he was telling Pilar that he had hoped to present her with her first mixed- blood, half-black grandchild. I didn't think it was necessarily appropriate to use because of it's sensitive nature and because that was not the most important part of Elvis's speech to Pilar, and because I already had so much detail I had to cut some things.

Terrific recap.

I'd also like to know what Elvis's
reaction/overreaction is all about - especially given the way Pilar has treated him...although I must say I was touched by him.

Gavi better return to Mexico soon. Otherwise she's going to wind up in the hospital with hypothermia. When she got up (I think at the conference) she has to pull that white-excuse for a skirt she was wearing. I can't believe a PR Executive in Londres would dress that way.

Am looking forward to the resolution on Monday. It's going to have to be a jam-packed ending.

Excellent, Excellent recap Jardinera!

Thank you ever so much for the insightful recap..

Anyway, after watching four days of recaps..I and several shot of Suazo hacienda plus reading La Pluma Serpert, by DH Lawerece writtien in like 1926.. I have come to various conclusions,

1) Pammie, sorry but even though you brought Aaron down, was the sex necessary? Or was that for you? Cause sorry Minnie is the one he loved. He did you outta hoping you'd give up the info not out of wanting which kinda makes it a moot point.

2}Bruno you are the bitch..you turned your eye years ago and let your son fully engage in that weird Opiduous thing going on with his mother.

3) Minnie gotta say you been bringing the bitch throughout, however I believe AAron when he says you are the one. He loves you the rest are just cool-whip on the pie

4) Fedra, you bring the creepy as an adjective to bitch..you have had what would seriously be considered as a major hardon for your son since this began, but being as this is not HBO well we are forced to analyze your motives without being able to actually follow them up.

5) Blandie and Gavi, please just make it stop...I have never seen a guy so immune to the "I'm swallowing my own vomit, every time you touch me".

6) Clarita & Tomas..Honestly the Dude doesn't see retirement in a country that the sun doesn't shine

7) James & Sofie as if you two don't deserve each other

8) Now Elvis...Dude thank you for sitting by Abuela..you are awesome and if you turn out to be an Angel; I will be casted to the land of totally pissed

9) Abuela..seriously come out of it ..God knows you should have died somewhere around the time Pancho Villa rode up to the Hacienda back in 1918, but thru a contract with Satan you have lived longer, so suck it up and come on back.

10) Aaron..Dude you did not remember the famous vow of don't get high off your buy. You loved you more than anyone and you just couldn't believe anyone could be smarter than you. Dude you totally sucked. You just never learned to STFU

Gavi & Rod..enuff said you so deserve each other..
Bruno Plllleeeeezzzzeeee

Thanks Jardinera for a super, detailed recap. As usual you filled in a lot of blanks and cleared up a lot of things that were otherwise unclear to me. For one thing, I didn't understand why they didn't lock Aaron up on the spot for such a serious crime. Nor did I understand in Ornate's conversation the reason he was laughing was because someone died from drinking the altered booze. He needs to face a laughing firing squad. Regardless of the fact that Minnie did turn over the tapes, Pamela is still on my *hit list. She held the trump card and passed the responsibility of playing it off on Minnie. She should get 30 days in jail for withholding information. A good lawyer could always argue that if she had turned it over sooner, perhaps it would have saved lives. When she told Aaron she wouldn't testify against him, I didn't think she meant it. She just tumbled even lower in my opinion. As far as Pilar is concerned, even though I saw the EKG go flat, I didn't associate it with that last scene she opened her eyes to that bright light DUH. Thanks for commenting on that. Now in to Rod. He is still in limbo as far as a rating. Just as he was regaining some of the points he'd lost, he had another of his jealousy attacks on seeing Gavi and Dr Smiley together. Then, he said he wouldn't look for her because of that. Dani had to talk sense into his thick skull. During the last 4years (novela time), he hasn't solved one problem on his own. There's always been someone there to solve his problems and crazy decisions. I'm anxious to see how he's going to redeem himself.

Anon. 7:05. Thanks! Please read my post right above yours to know the little bit I opted out of using regarding Elvis and Pilar. That was really the only other thing he said.

absolutely excellent and detailed recap, Jardinera, and the comments,too! A laughing firing squad- perfect, and Aronagant in an eastern European prison- yes!, but forced to drink a glass of his own poison every day for the rest of his life. Beckster, as usual, you made me laugh out loud...I'm certain that I don't understand all the "nuances" of Mexican jurisprudence, but why wasn't Rod let free on the spot, and why was Arongant allowed to walk out and charter a flight? Anyone would consider hima flight risk- the earlier judge had his passport in his hand, why didn't they ask for it? Maybe interpol is going to take hime to wherever he caused the most damage. I still don't get the Elvis crying at Pilar's bedside, that was wierd. And how wierd is it that her face showed more emotion while in a coma then while awake? Really don't see how they are going to tie up all the loose ends in 2 1/2 hour show, but you can bet that i'll be watching, and of course, reading everyone's comment...dorado dave

Thanks , Jardinera for that excellent and detailed recap. I have a funny feeling that the writers think jail is too good for AAron. I think that they are setting him up to die at the hands of distraught relatives of the victims of the poison he passed off as tequila....some kind of poetic [and viciously violent ] justice... that's just a guess. It's been a wild ride, no ? I'm ready for Rod and Gav together again and a happily-ever-after wedding . Gidget and Moondoggie sailing into the sunset just as the pirate ship drops anchor. Perfecto.

I have wanted to b---- slap Bruno myself for months for suffering that insufferable wife of his. He didn't even have a clue that Fedra was solapando or at least enabling Aaron?

But ... that's the writers' fault. Alejandro Tommasi plays Bruno's role and I think he's great, the most convincing actor up there. Weird thing: when I google Tommasi "images," up comes not only Bruno but that guy who plays Isadora's father. Surely they're two different actors???

Thanks for the fine recap!

Dorado Dave: knowing Aaronogant as we do, he probably would have had Oñate make him a forged passport for just this kind of thing, but what's a loose detail here or there with this group of telenovela writers, right?
=/; ? )8

===============
Welcome, Rob. --I have come to admire Alejandro Tommasi over the years. He is a truly wonderful actor, though he was wasted in Bajo la Misma Piel. He really caught my eye in Alborado as Fernando Colunga's #2, but then I saw him in El Manantial as the evil, villainous father playing opposite Daniela Romo and he just blew me away, especially with his love scenes!! He was a rogue, but a sexy one and a serious man's man who grabbed your interest and held it to the absolute very end. I hope he gets to do something similar to that role again.

After further thought..I am not sure I understood the whole Elvis/Abuela thing either.

Aaron like all coke whores was so coked up he just had to talk to someone..anyone who would listen to how awesome Aaron really is.

As for Abuela going for the white light..well I'm not really sure that works for the living dead.

Sofie..always the downer, you noticed she started blabbing to Abuela and rather than listen the ol' lady flat lined..

Is it just me or does Blandie not see that qwelling bile that rises in Gavi's throat everytime he gets near her?

Is Clarita trying to hook Gavi up so she can finally "Get it On & Bang a Gong?" after years of sexual repression?

One can only hope these and other important questions will be answered Mon nite.

Oops. That's Alborada!

Well, it's not that we didn't understand what Elvis was saying -- got all that stuff about wanting to ask Abuela for Dani's hand and all that about the mulatto grandchild and the wanting to take the Abuela home to be with him and he loves her etc.--it's that we don't understand why he has such a long bigtime scene with Abuela in the first place. Just plain weird. Especially since in the other chapters he's had a kind of peripheral joking/laughing & holding Dani's hand kind of role.
I agree with Dorado Dave--it's just plain weird that Elvis is crying away over there at Abuela's beside, kissing her hand etc. And then it's true -- Abuela shows more emotion while in the coma than when awake.

I feel sorry for Bruno. There he was going along living his ethical and moral life in a bubble all alone, and he thought the rest were in there with him! He really didn't know that Fedra was directing the traffic in Aron's and Patricio's lives. Seems like Fedra had a lot of free time away from Bruno and spent it meddling in her son's life. Also weird.

Actually all the Montalvos & spouses are weird -- they're supposed to be an old high-tone family -- but they all jump up and fist-fight or slap each other and get up on tables and chase each other around. Can't take any of them out to dinner for fear of some kind of dramatic histrionics. And then they go off and slam down 90 or so tequila shooters each before bedtime or for lunch they order the whole bottle for a table of 2.

Agreed with Beckster that Alonso Sotovena is thick, and just doesn't want to get over the Kabonger feeling. Gavi is getting super bored with the guy and he just doesn't give up.

LaZorra in SF

LaZorra -- re: Elvis and his bedscene soliloquy, I sort of figured that after I posted. My reasons for not really dealing with it in a blog that's known for its derisive treatment of the characters and situations remain the same. Though, no matter what side of the fence one comes down on, somebody will be offended, so why bother? As the one writing this particular recap, I didn't care to.

I do have my suspicions and I'll throw them out for you all to chew on......

1) It is to figuratively put Elvis in an angelic light or saintly posture. He's been the victim of Pilar's generational social prejudices and has taken her insults, turned the other cheek, and repayed her with kindnesses, love and definitive charity, as I believe any Christian worthy of the name is supposed to do.

2) If, in fact, Pilar is off to meet her maker and to join her beloved Amador (whom I believe first deserves a good long round in purgatory before he heads back on up to go through those pearly gates after the evil he set in motion upon the reading of his will, though I'm not sure which of Dante's levels we might choose) Pilar and Elvis must come to some sort of an accord. Before she goes she needs to atone and to receive forgiveness from Elvis and from above; and Elvis needs acceptance into the family.

La Zorra's comments have made me think about these charactors. While weaknesses, frailties, and quirks are universal in the nature of we humans, these people, especially the wealthy ones, are shown to be far worse than 95% of the peolpe that I've ever known. The only ones that have shown true character are the humble, hardworking ones; really only Ofelia has been the shining star. She has been the only one whose conduct has been beyond reproach. Roman is tarnished in my eyes by his rejection of Hilario; but i can understand that reaction from him. He has disowned Hil (I'll bet that is resolved in the last episode, I hope so, at least), not so much because of his choice to become a model, which is a disappointment, but because Hil broke the moral code of conduct that Roman adheres to, and expected his son to respect. I can certainly empathize with Hil rolling in the hay with Isa, but this is like the worst taboo in Roman's world, and breaking that taboo shattered his relationship with Hil. So Roman has split with Hil for the noblest and most moral of reasons. Any other characters out there that deserve positive mention? dorado dave

"Roman has split with Hil for the noblest and most moral of reasons." Dorado dave -- interesting observation regarding Roman's prejudices about macho manual labor vs. male modeling, and I would also say that in feudal agricultural Mexico what Hilario did with the patron's wife was a killing offense, and if nothing else, Offensive with a capital O because it is like incest since it would seem that the patron is the Big Daddy as well as the lord and master of all who work and live on his lands.

p.s. I'll add Clarita to dorado dave's list. She has been Gavi's guiding light, full of positive encouragement and her moral compass throughout, despite her sometimes dimwitted and multitudinous "¿Cómo así?"-isms. Clarita has been her best friend (something unheard of in today's mother-daughter relationships) and a sounding board. Before, during and after Dani showed up, Gavi could count on her mother's good advice, though as a natural state of events, Gavi didn't always take it to heart. It pained Clarita to see the hell Gavi has gone through because of her undying love for a Montalvo, and she defended her daughter's honor fearlessly against this wealthy and powerful family as you would have expected her to do. She has always gotten an A+ in my book.

Yes, Jardinera, Clarita has been an upstanding caharacter, true to herself and Gavi, always wanting the best for her daughter, and she was a glaring ommision on my part. She has always encouraged Gavi to go for the man that offers her the best(?)- be it Rod or Blandie, or the Italian (did I miss any?), and has been consistant in her support and guidance. On top of that she has also been a comic force; it was a impoverished episode that didn't have at least 2 "como asi" expressions. I just might add it to my own vocabulary. In reference to Roman, I didn't mean to suggest that the social framework of his world is correct or right or just, but that he was operating within that framework impeccably, and in that way was true to his ideals. My greatest hope for the final episode is that this father/son schism is resolved, and the only way that i can see that happening is for Roman to shift his view of the world to enable him to welcome his son back into his life. This, for me, is as important as any of the other unresolved threads and story lines. I guess that it's a "guy thing". Can't wait for Monady

I agree with you, Jardinera: Clarita has consistently been a virtuous character, an example of fierce loyalty and devotion which Gavi has repaid in kind. She stands in contrast to Josefina and Fedra, who are also fiercely loyal, but show poor judgment. While Clarita's character has not evolved in the moral sense--she can't become any better than she is--she has adapted to her late-life economic ascension with style and grace. In real life, someone plopped into the lap of luxury from a life of struggle might react with great discomfort and keep on wearing the same old clothes and doing the same old things. I'm sure the Mexican audience has enjoyed Isadora taking Clarita and Gavi's place in the barrio complete with Clarita's old furniture.

oops- forgot to sign that last entry (anon 11:04) dorado dave

I'd also add to Dorado Dave's comments with my own observation that the men in DA are more interesting than the women. The men exhibit the tension between rural traditionalism, machismo and honor, and city ways where sex roles are shifting and all is not to be trusted. Rod, especially, shows the transition to the new masculinity in Mexico. IMHO, Latin men have always been preoccupied with "is this kid really mine". Rod still loves the little boy who is not his son, is never afraid to show his sensitive side, and still the roughest toughest hombre in the show, more at home in the country than the city. Aaron is a fascinating villain, and the writers had to make him say "maldita ruca" to his grandmother, plus implicate him in a few deaths to dissipate our lingering affection we feel for him. I especially liked him after that scene where he slung the drunken, screaming Minerva over his shoulder and bore her away from the party, but he dominated every scene he was in. Bruno's virtues have already been commented upon. I still miss the late Francisco, who stands for urban treachery and guile. Back at the ranch we have upright Roman, and village characters Crispin and Carmelo, who are fun to watch. Carlos de la Mota's accent notwithstanding, he has given a good rendition of a city boy who has proven to have all the good country virtues of loyalty, fidelity, and hard work. (The one weak link in the male ensemble might be the actor who only has one name--Jan--and one facial expression--right eyebrow raised, mouth pulled down in disapproval.) These characters are no doubt part of the reason DA reported enjoyed a huge male fan base in Mexico.

Dorado dave and desti: I see it the same as both of you. I also hope for a suitable, positive resolution of the father/son conflict, and if telenoval rules prevail, we won't be disappointed. The irony of Isa's newfound home in the barrio, complete with Gavi's and Clarita's leftovers was not lost on me, for sure! ; ? )) Again, in true telenovela fashion, I would suppose that from here on out both Jose and Isa have a chance to improve upon their financial station as well as their judgment with and because of Ricky. Isa, with her education will try to ascend the latter and will take Jose right along with her and they'll both learn from their past mistakes, just like Gavi.

P.S. My only explanation for Elvis is the Sidney Poitier effect. Back in the 1960's when the major studios in this country started letting African Americans play major roles, they had to be saintlier than everybody else. I guess Televisa is just at that point. (They'll really be making progress when the indios have career and romance issues, and the blancos open doors and serve meals, ha ha! )

Thanks for the excellent recap Jardinera.

I agree that Clarita is a laudable character. She's fiercely loyal to Gavi, always is looking out for Gavi's best interest, and as I think any good mother should, points out when Gavi is heading in the wrong direction. In these characteristics she reminds me of my own mother. That's why it's always kind of bugged me that Gavi frequently calls her Clarita and at times shows impatience with her and kind of snaps at her. I completely agree with the telenovela rule of not dissing your mother! :)

I guess my relationship with my mother also explains why I've always given Isa a bit of a break -I can't imagine having such selfish, self-centered parents. I'm happy she and Jose have found each other and BigHeadBaby will have a loving home.

"While weaknesses, frailties, and quirks are universal in the nature of we humans, these people, especially the wealthy ones, are shown to be far worse than 95% of the peolpe that I've ever known. The only ones that have shown true character are the humble, hardworking ones....."

Dorado dave: This is another great and valid insight. I don't know how long you've been watching telenovelas or how extensive your background in literary forms or formats might be. I only have a general smattering, but IMHO, this melodramatic treatment of humanity in which characters battle good and evil and find either redemption or damnation is the essence of the great morality play that is the Latin American telenovela and is why I think so many of us once exposed, male and female alike, are drawn to the genre whether we understand the language or not.
=======
Rhonda, thanks again! Isa was definitely a victim in this and in the end deserves some kudos, despite the fact that she made some hateful decisions which at the time deserved and got her a huge dose of our ridicule. Personal experience certainly colors the interpretation and adds to the drama and to the excitement.

The end is near and there is no way I can find the words to thank you for the entertaining recapps, I loved reading it every night and you made my day. Thank you again. Cecile

Well..without going into all the virtues and vices of the characters..my husband & I rewatched the Fri episode last nite as he hadn't seen it.

I just want to give a special shout out to Bruno for his 70's B cop movie look. Bruno the dyed facial hair, the tinted wire rims..I don't know why but you brought the Starsky & Hutch.

All in all these things are like morality plays..The premise is simple good overcomes evil. Corporate hijinks are always punished. Good thing life does not imitate art or just think if Corporate Heads were actually expected to behave ethically? Haliburton, drug companies, oil companies, defense contractors, what a world, what a world.

Really hope Nuria and Ricardo get theirs. Their coldness to their daughter and indifference to their grandson is unforgiveable. Losing their home is not enough!

Jardinera, thanks for the excellent recap. I've been away - is the grand finale going to be two hours?

Lynne: Tks! Wondered where you've been hiding. It's a 2 1/2 hr. finale tomorrow night. We're all toasting good-bye with our best reposado.

Thanks Jardinera for this detailed recap. I recorded this episode, but then deleted it by mistake before I could watch. :-( Only part I saw was when Oñate got arrested. (Admittedly, a pretty sweet sight.)

I agree, Destilando Cafe... I really hope that there's one more scene with Ricardo and Nuria Duarte feeling some pain. Last time we saw them, they were loafing on a golf course while their only grandchild was at the mercy of Isa's terrible instincts. I'd hate to think that's the last we see of them.

Does Sofie know she's a widow yet? Hasn't Isa been in touch with Videgaray or someone?

I had no faith at all that Minnie was going to turn Aaron in. I'm glad she did, but I'm still surprised.

Yikes I'm out of reposado or anejo and will have to watch the ending tequila free!

Love the ending of a novela when we can all sit back and do an in depth analysis of character traits and motivation with more accuracy then Dr. Flirty ever did. The strongest contrast in this one was between Clarita and Fedra and their mothering skills. Clarita acted as a moral compass for Gavi while defending her at all costs. Fedra on the other hand defended Aron to one and all and never provided him with guidance at all. When he dies or goes off to the big house her reaction will be priceless.

Re the comment about Jan. I always have a hard time watching him because I remember him in DKDA which was one of those teenie bopper novelas about a singing group. I still keep expecting him to burst into song. Although for all of its faults and there were many DKDA was the first and one of the few novelas ever to deal with AIDS and while DA is giving us chapter and verse on tequila, DDA did it about AIDS.

Heads up all - Tuesday's Christina will have the cast of DA.

Always thought the conversion of Isadora to the good side was convincing. What did she really do in her bad moments after all besides try to get the guy who swore he'd honor and protect her, all the days of their lives, to do what he swore he's do? she assisted in the frameups of Gavi, but from her standpoint, they were justified. It would be unsettling for anyone to see an old rival suddenly show up in a management position at their spouse's company.

Rodrigo is arguably the greater skunk. I know, I know, he didn't fool around.

just want to remind people with tivo & dvr who have season passes for Destilando Amor: the title for the finale this monday is different so it will not record as part of your season pass. You're going to have to set it to record manually. I found this out the hard way when the finale of LFMB did not record for me and I was out of town and I figured it would since I had a season pass.

I don't agree on clarita being so moral and such a support for her daughter. I saw her as pushing her daughter on whoever offers the most. When she was with Rod, then it was Rod, when she was with Doctor, Clarita encouraged a romance. Seems that she wanted her married off regardless of how Gavi felt. Also someone commented that gavi cringes when doctor is near her and why does't he take the hint; however, this recap stated that clarita commented that she thinks gavi is feeling something for him and she agreed??? With Elvis, I see why he is doing all this talking to Pilar. When in a coma, one can hear what is going on and he is taking the opportunity to let her know just how much he cares about her and she has responded because she does hear it; therefore when she comes to, her relationship with him will have improved and I see this as their maturity in this novela. With the comments about Minnie and pam. Pam was smart. Had she just kept the tapes, aaron would have been a free man and back with his wife, after what all he did to her. Pam assured herself that his life was being screwed up as well, by giving minnie the tapes and letting her hear the tape where he talked badly about Minnie. That was what set her off and she turned on him. Now pam doesn't have him and either does minnie; however, she appeared to not do this to harm minnie as she did to harm aaron. I thought that was kind of clever. I was away for a week and it appears that minnie found out about isa. can someone fill me in on what happened there?

Great recap and very interesting insight. I did not think that Ofelia was all that noble, given her treatment of SanJuana once SJ was with child-- in fact I thought Roman held the more noble spot for manning up (I love that phrase because it is so sexist) for his son's indiscretion.
I didn't get the Elvis thing either, and totally loved that Elvis was supporting the whole Montalvo house of cards.
Did you catch the crocodile tears Aaron shed?

VV., still trying to figure if I am on board with pirates or not....

Anonymous 4:51, to find out what happened - to get "filled in" - read the recsps, that's what they're for!!!!

Jardinera - I wasn't hiding - I was in Italy - just got back last week. I was supposed to go again but cancelled and instead I'm leaving for Spain, Portugal and Morocco on the 14 December.

Thanks for the info and recaps.

Lynne: Post some of those pictures you take when you're able!

I enjoyed all the speculation about how it ends for everyone. But nobody talked about Minnie's end. After all, she is pregnant...I hope she doesn't have to join Jose and Isa. I guess Bruno would make sure his grandchild would not be cast out because of his/her mother.

Minnie has that wealthy old grand-aunt in Spain and she told Aaron and Fedra that's where she would head if he ever cheated on her again. She said she'd keep the kid away from them until he (if it turned out to be a he) reached 21 and only then would come back for him to inherit. Lovely, since he'd be a stranger to the other half of the family who was actually running everything without them!
===========

We need a check list of loose ends for the finale. Feel free to add to what I think of.

* Hilario tells Rod that he and Isa fooled around 3 times
* Hil and Roman make up.
* SJ and Hil come to an agreement or get hitched.
* Hil and Isa make a real love connection, or don't.
* Isa's daddy is jailed for fraud for the next veinte años (20 yrs.)
* The Montalvo's all find out Frankie died in a fiery car crash, and without Isa!
* Rod's divorce is finalized and he and Gav have the Montalvo heir (to what, I don't know)
* Acacia dies and frees James to marry Sofia
* Alonso and Erika hook up, or don't
* We learn that Minnie has a girl
* Aaron gets caught and sentenced
or dies before he gets imprisoned
* Pam and her parents are NOT invited to Rod and Gavi's wedding
* Fedra is imprisoned for aiding and abetting/ obstruction of justice?
* Nancy hitches up with Hilario, or doesn't

Hi: I too missed the part where Minnie finds out about isa. I scanned the episodes from the 16th till the 26th and I didn't see anything. I would have thought that this would stand out in the recap discussions. If anyone has an idea about when this happened, I would appreciate the help.

ret

Isa told Minerva she had slept with Aaron in my recap of November 21, where I wrote:

Aaron arrives. Minerva announces that Isa is just leaving. Aaron: "I hope you've changed the last name of that little bastard." Isa: "I was one of the many women Aaron has held in his arms - he didn't tell you? He seduced me. Do you dare deny it, Aaron?"

She leaves and Minerva refuses to hear Aaron's stringy excuses. "Have you forgotten the condition I imposed when I came back to you? That if you ever strayed again, I would leave you? You will never see your son."

Thank you Melinama. I saw one part where isa went to Minnies house and Minnie was upset that she came there because of her running off with her brother in law. Can't imagine how i missed this one. Doesn't sound like it was as exciting as I thought it would be when she found out, like pulling hair, screaming rotf.

minnie and isa: (off the top of my head) more or less it went like this

isa goes over minnie's house asking for some help. she recounts the story of how pancho left her. Minnie says she's not a friend because isa made her look foolish by cheating on Rod, being that minnie was the matchmaker. minnie accused isa basically of being a gold digger (which is the pot calling the kettle black...)

anyway, they argue and scream and then minnie tells her to get out

that's when isa drops the bomb that she was with Aaron - out of spite.

minnie is all- hey aaron is that true? i told you if you cheated on me again that would be it, no baby for you!!

I missed the chapter where Minnie really becomes pregnant -- instead of the pretend pregnant where she was mixing any and all alcoholic beverages and all the other people kept telling her to stop drinking because she was pregnant.

One of you recappers recently called her "little pillow tummy pregnant," so I thought it was still fake. Seems that now Minnie really is pregnant?

Also, about the thought of Isa teaching history or art history at a high school, like she said she was going to look for a job doing hard to picture that -- and can you imagine all the teenaged boys checking her out! An endless supply for Isa hotpants. After all, Isa seems to have slept with most of the major male characters.

For the list of loose ends:
-- yup, Sofi needs to find out what happened to Francisco, and that he was with someone else & not Isa

-- James has his marriage to Acaia annulled so he can marry Sofi

-- Abuela obviously can't die but needs to make a miraculous comeback from the white light place -- maybe she sees Amador in heaven and he sends Angels to carry her back so she can finish up the wishes of his last will & testament!

-- Clarita & Meester Thomas get engaged or married and drink like fish and dance to golden oldies

-- Hilario and SanJuana have some miraculous epiphany and get married (or not). SanJuana's baby turns out to be identical triplets who all look EXACTLY like Hilario!

-- Patricio & Lluvia both released from prison on own recognizance or for good behavior and are given good jobs at Rod's Montalvo shop

-- Minerva introduces the topic of early stage abortion to avoid giving birth to Damien 666

-- All the rest of the anvils fall heavily on those who most deserve them: Aron, Fedra, Isa's parents, etc. abd some of them actually feel the smash.

Thanks for all the recaps. And for the heads up about Cristina having the DA cast on Tuesday night, too!

See you all with the Pasion Pirates starting Tuesday! Maybe it will make more sense if one sees the first couple of chapters?

I gave thanks and commented earlier. After reading a bunch more good comments I got tempted to respond. Jardinera, I like your list of things that we need closure on. The one thing I'm curious about is if the authorities are going to find acacia's uncles body. (I've forgotten his name since he's been out of the picture for so long). My guess is that committment to the psych hospital signals the end of Acacia role. I think Sofie and James will remain friends but not marry. Time is too short for 2 weddings. Also, I think we deserve to see Ornate's demise after the rat he's been. Sure we know he's in jail that in itself is not satisfaction enough. Also, I wonder what miracle will restore Rod's agave and resolve the debt he incurred. I agree with the person who pointed out all the terrible things the writer had Aaron do in order to make absolutely sure he was disliked by the viewers. Bad guys need love too, and he was my favorite character except for the times he lied on Gavi and made her life a living hell. Then of course in the end he went overboard with the tainted liquor. I don't give Rod any brownie points for his belief that Isa's baby belongs to him even though he's not the father. He has a bunch of other things that need his attention right now.

Does anyone think Bruno,after the betrayal of Fedra, is going to divorce her? No, he'll forgive her,as they'll need each other when Aaron is in the "big house',and they are soon to be grandparents..

No sympathy for Isadora,as her humility has come about because of the circumstances,of which she brought upon herself,that has taken her to where she is today. Her parents..?Papa is going to jail,as he's corrupt to the core. Mama? Not sure..She's a greedy,money-hungry bitch..
Tonight's show is another LFMB..Wrap everything quickly up in a neat little package(cut,paste,etc.) and throw it to the audience..

Why play Dr.Santo to the last scene,like Aldo in LFMB..?? These two characters have/had no chemistry with the leading lady characters..Yet, they're kept there to be ultimately rejected in the end..Makes for the great drama we love...

Actually I'd kind of like to see Doctorcito end up with crying Nancy. Both he and Aldo were obviously thrown in characters specifically to drag out these novelas. It is interesting since both of them were played by known lead character galans who have had chemistry with their leading ladies. Perhaps it falls back on the writers for inserting boring characters or just casting screw ups. God forbid if the secondary Juan come lately had had real chemistry with the leading lady. That would have made a horrible hash out of the novela but would have been a blast for the watchers.

Jardinera...gracias gracias!! that was superb.

Pam turned out to be the biggest dissappointment to me.

1) to sleep with aron while he's married AND wihout loving him... she has low self esteem.

2) to top it off with whip cream she hands off the only proof of Aron's crime to a jealous and angry wife. how would she like being in jail and having her freedom depend on some emotional amante? to go through all that trouble of revenge and then back off and *hoping* minnie will complete it for her is just plain stupid. i agree that she did good in showing minnie what kind of hubby she has. no greater satisfaction than seeing the virtual slap in minnie's face when she was brought down her high horse. but beyond that, it was pam's role to turn the proof in.

3) makes me realize that at the end of the novela, everyone's fate was hanging on a very thin line that depended on minnie...how ironic!

i also didn't understand the elvis and abuela scene. i didn't buy it, but at the same itme i'm glad they bonded.

lynne, welcome back! i have to say i'm so jealous of your exciting plans coming up!! ;) please share some pics with us...it'll make me feel like i'm the one traveling to those exciting countries :)

yay to the pirates! i'm wearing my eyepatch and ready!

Great recap!
Finally, Bruno stands up like the man and moral compass he should have been all along, rather than giving in to Aron and Fedra.
I'm glad he didn't let Patricio off the hook, either.
Aron is stupid to go to Tuvalu - hasn't he figured out that his run of luck has ended? Go to some country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with Tuvalu or Mexico, estupido!
Lots of loose ends. Will Minerva regret turning in Aron? Pammie played it perfectly.
Rod and Gavi are the least plotline now - we know they'll get together. I'm more interested in what happens to everyone else!

Thank you Jardinera for the wonderful re-cap!!! I saw it Friday, and for a minute there I was totally pissed because bubble lips (Pammy) gave Minnie the CD,cassette and the USB thingy!!! I was like WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DEPENDING ON YOU, YOU IDIOT BITCH???!!!! I thought for sure that Minnie was gonna get suckered into Aaron's bs again, but no, she came through!!! Three cheers for her...its about damn time!!! LOL

Bruno seriously needs to get a spine, thats all I'm gonna say about him...I LOVE Alejandro Tommasi, and first saw him in El Manantail, then in Alborada as well, (BTW, can ANYONE tell me why TV novellas are edited & shortned to the point of non-existence?? I purchased Amor Real, hoping that by purchasing it (the DVD), it would be the whole thing...nope, it was sooooo choppy, not even worth the investment)!!! They did the same thing to El Manantial, and Alborada!!! WHY, WHY??

Anyway, getting off my soapbox for the moment...I'm primed and ready for tonight, and can only hope that Gavi doesn't do anything stupid or Rod for that matter...I honestly thought that he wasn't gonna look her up once he got out of the slammer, cuz he wanted to hook up again with Erika!! I would have just lost it at that point, but luckily Dani & Sophia prevailed!

I'm excited, doing the countdown!!! I look forward to reading everyone's comments!!!

Jardinera, Thanks for a superb recap and congratulations on making the A-team of Pasión recappers.
I am baaaackkkk from a northern New Mexico weekend of immersion Spanish and ready for a night of drama and fun! The final episodes have been breathtaking in their action and resolution and wow, so much more to reveal tonight before we all turn off the sets on this excellent telenovela. Not only have the recaps gotten better and better. I am stunned at the wonderful, as in full of wonder, comments. This ending is truly bringing out the philosopher-sociologist in all of you. Think back about all the interesting topics that have rolled through these comment pages in the past months.

Good words, CherylNewMex. I completely agree! The recaps and comments have been wonderful, thoughtful and funny. And a real help to my understanding both what's going on and the culture it's going on in.
My two cents' worth: I have really emjoyed the relationship between Arron and Minnie - it's a real love between them, bad as they both are, and the actors have done a wonderful job.

Thanks again and I am just as appreciative to all the other recappers and subs as well as to you all who come and add your "2 cents worth". This group is a terrific collection of people who make reading the recaps, writing them, and commenting on these telenovelas great fun, and Melinama deserves the biggest amount of kudos for having strung this thing together for us.

Thanks for the recap and all the excellent comments. I espcially liked reading the thoughtful analyses of the characters. I've liked this TN as much for the secondary characters and social commentary as for Rod and Gavi's romance. I, too, am hoping for some satisfactory wrap-ups on the other characters.

While waiting for Friday's DA to start, I turned on early and watched the last few moments of ASL. Dr. Blandie was doing a full-bore evil scene, and he was much more interesting in that role than as the happy Dr. Blandie.

The Elvis/Abuela scene was a little strange to me as well. All through the show, he's played his role with a very light touch, never acting too serious. Thus, the switch to the very dramatic, emotional scene was an abrupt change. Maybe he's spent too much time with the Montalvos and has become infected with the drama queen/king bloodlines. Or, maybe he was just exhausted from keeping watch and supporting the family and finally cracked.

I want to see Aaron suffer a just punishment, but he's also a lovable or appealing bad guy.
La Paloma

Thank you, Jardinera, for your thorough and wonderful recap. This is my first comment and it was your post that inspired it.
