A ***SPECIAL*** thanks to our brave and patient Amar recappers....

... I never watched Amar Sin Limites so I never commented on their posts -- but I think the people who slogged through this show deserve heaps of praise and appreciation! Readers, please feel free to add your own praise and appreciation below.

This just proves my theory that the biggest dogs make for the most hilarious recaps.

Many thanks to the intrepid Amar recappers. You guys managed to make a silk purse out of sow's ear episode after episode. I hope y'all continue on with other shows because if you can make diverting recaps out of Amar you can most certainly do it with any other telenovela.

Thanks everyone!!

I will add my praise and thanks to those Amar recappers who DIDN'T bail out as soon as something better came along (as I did). I really liked the show at first but it died a slow death and was then resurrected as a zombie for the whole amnesia plot. I could barely make myself care just to read the recaps, but I had to see how it ended. To the rest of you who stuck it out recapping this until the end, you deserve a lot of credit.

As a bailed recapper, I must give my thanks to everyone who kept watching. I never managed to watch or recap a single episode without having to ask at least three dumb questions about who was who or what happened. I think I bailed on this show months ago because I was tired of feeling like a dummy while watching.

I heartily want to thank the people who joined in midstream to help us out. It really shows how committed even the commenters are to this blog. That's how I got started, as a commenter and I can testify that the pitch-in spirit of this place is infectious.

This was possibly the worse extension of a show I've ever seen and since many of the ones we get to see have them, that's not a small group. Sometimes the backstory before the extension mattered and sometimes the new section writers didn't seem to agree with the original writers on character personalities or backstory. It was often confusing.

Amar recappers, you are a hearty and dedicated bunch from what little I saw of the program. I admire your perseverence and commitment! Thanks for doing it! You deserve a good one next, and fingers crossed that you'll get one that's wonderful.

Jeanne

Thanks to all the dedicated Amar recappers
for hanging in there. I stopped watching it when the whole amnesia stupidity began.
Yawn and besides, Ivan was the best character and when they wrote him out of the story, I lost interest. This was one of the worst telenovelas that I have seen and I watched all of Duelo, another unbelievable plot line but much better than Amar.

I too found this show absolutely unwatchable (almost from the get go) but I kept reading the posts and the comments because they were funny (witty is perhaps a better word) and I admired the tenacity of the recappers to stick with this convoluted mess.
Reading the recaps and blogs is a very special part of my day...one I richly enjoy.

I have a dumb question. Why can't everyone bail out if it's such a bad show? Why should anyone continue watching a dog when there are other good shows out there? Is there a rule that you have to recap every night show on Univision no matter how bad it is?

Wow is that a good question. There is precedent, the entire crew of Barrera de Amor bailed and jumped to a new show when it started, I don't remember what the new show was. Mundo de Fieras? Anyway, this show had promise for a while so it was ok. It was really just the last month or so when it got ugly and by then I think we all wanted to see the end (I would have kept doing Fridays along with Pasion if I had time to do it). The other reason is probably that we weren't aware at any time of a new show starting that we could jump to. Mostly I think it was just seeing the project through.

Obviously, not everyone wanted to bail out. And even though some may have found Amar to be a dog (from what I saw of Amar, I'm not sure if this is fair to dogs), others did not, and I am sure they were glad to have the recaps.

There were times when LFMB got so bad, I wanted to bite the TV. But I had a lot of encouragement (and faith) to see it through to the end. The Amar recappers didn't get nearly as much support; I don't know what kept them going. Perhaps it was the show's enormous potential for mockery. Or Agustin Arana.

Anon, as Ferro says, we have group-bailed before. However there is a funny thing about telenovelas, sometimes the worst are the most fun to watch and to recap. It's a lot easier to good-naturedly mock a show when it is bad. Jan Z mentioned Duelo, one of my favorites because it was SO BAD and the recapping team had a blast with it. I grew very fond of the show and wouldn't have dreamed of giving it up, even though I ripped it to shreds weekly.

Sometimes the dogs give birth to classic names and phrases that live forever. The Amar recappers had great pet names for their characters.

Also, I just realized, another reason we might stick around is if there are some particularly attractive cast members. It seems like there have been more men for the ladies to watch than there have been ladies for ME to watch, but still.

Speaking of - I see in commercials for Al Diablo that the woman who plays Lidia is in the cast, somehow she has grown 5 times hotter. Why didn't she look that hot on Amar?

Yes, a very good question. I offered several times to the Amar crew that they could, as a unit, pack up shop if they liked. But somehow they managed to eke out enough fun to continue!

We don't recap shows on the other Spanish channels usually - because many of our people (including me) don't get those channels. Also, I gather they often have English subtitles.

When we have taken on more shows - for instance, when there was a skeleton crew trying to do Accoralada in the daytime, or when a group just decided they wanted to do Zorro - things seem to get a bit desperate. I'd rather that we have our fewer shows covered comfortably than lots of shows with scattered coverage. That said, I don't stop anybody from posting recaps of other shows if they want. The problem is to commit to seeing it through!

Cap'n Sylvia, ah, yes....Duelo! It was the first telenovela I watched from start to bitter end. I loved it, too, because of the recappers and commenters. I couldn't miss it.

That's how I feel about Juan--it's undervalued, not a dog, but few folks watch it. I love it and in large part it's due to the wonderful small band of Juan fans (and my fellow recappers, who do an awesome job).

I add my thanks to the recappers of Amar. I must admit that I mostly started watching Amar because Marcelo Cordoba was in it [ANNNDRESSS], and after Andress was planted in the garden next to his own victims, I started to lose interest. But then amnesia struck Azul and Luis Felipe and my interest emerged. I've read all the comments, and I would like to say that one reason I come here everyday is to visit the people who inhabit THIS cybercommunity...people I have come to know and appreciate. I enjoy the positive vibes and the sense of humor here. Thanks for that, too. ~~~~Susanlynn, being neighborly

Uber shout out to all recappers on this one...damn this was a tough one. I wouldn't even turn on the captions when it was on cause I so couldn't care. You all did a stellar job and deserve royality checks from Univison for pain and suffering

I want to thank all of you recappers for your hard work and determination to continue on when this novela took the turn for the crazy. Your hard work and great commentary were sincerely enjoyable. Thanks again!!

Chris, not only is Lidia on Diablo, but so is Manuel!

How could I bail on the show that gave us Ahndressss, the tialoving abuelokiller? When the going gets tough, the tough get snarky.

Thanks for the appreciation :)

Hola Fellow Recappers and Readers from deep in central Mexico (Cuernavaca). The Amar show was a distant memory when I arrived here on the 3rd so I appreciate the recaps which I just read tonight through to the bleary eyed end. I am grateful for the fun jibes and nimble wit of all who participated. In retrospect, I gained a lot personally from the recapping. It's wonderful who it attacks your brain in ways you don't expect. For instance, my reading level has improved. The 700 to 800 words I captured in my vocabulary notebook from all these telenovelas is serving me very, very well here. I am here at Universidad International (Uni-Inter) in advanced grammar classes and an awesome business course and going on every excursion that I can, climbing pyramid/temples, enjoying flowers and awesome food.
I have also located the new Caray Caray restaurant which is in the San Angel area of Mexico, D.F. and will be making my pilgrimage there after Feb. 1 when my four weeks of courses are finished. I have some fun pictures to share and will take more of Caray, Caray when I get there. I will spend the final 3 days in D.F. packing in all the museums and delights that I can.
I miss you all on this blog and especially my dear Willa who I hear is being a very good dog back in NM. Now I will get to see her pirate picture post in a minute.
I think I am on the lineup for Yo Amo a Juan when I return according to the listings. If Maricruz is out there, someone tell her I can get back to recapping work on Monday the 11th of February.
Adios y buenas noches.
