GuaposThursday 2/7 In which Regina becomes a soccer (grand) mom and Santa Claus is coming to town

As promised, I am posting a quickie recap so everyone can chime in with notes.
I just watched the Thursday episode, but without closed captions, so I'll do my best to put in some highlights.

Connie is having an affair with Milena now. This episode seems to be blissfully Andrea-free.

Mili finds out that Hugo can walk and gets really angry and calls him the biggest liar on earth. She doesn't want anything to do with him. But later, she confides in Pandrosa, his alter ego.

Alex tells Regina that he really wants Mili. This character change is unmotivated by anything I have seen on screen. Anyone?
Anyway, Regina is happy, but she warns him that he better not hurt her Mili.

Mili and her other friend go to the Tejano bar again and Alex shows up. There is another fistfight. I wasn't watching closely during this scene, so I don't really know what was happening, but I assume jealousy was involved.

Regina is now the biggest soccer fan in town. She goes to watch Mili and Rorgan play. Who shows up to play goalie? None other than our Alex.

There's a scene where Valeria seems to be mooning over a radio where that awful singing is coming out of it again.

Still no money returned by Karla, and it looks like it's going to be a grim Christmas at the orphanage. Mili and her friend go there for Christmas, and Mili says how much she misses the cooking. But they are all sad about how there are no presents for the kids. Seems like Horacio is making Socorro realize that Karla took the money?

There's an awkward Christmas gathering back at the mansion, where Connie and Luciana are hosting Milena and Bobby. Cringe! They all wonder where Alex is. I believe this is the scene where they played yet another theme-music ripoff from Amar: the orchestra of doom, or OOD.

Cut to the orphanage: Alex shows up dressed as Santa and saves the day.

Thanks for the starter...I really kind of like this show, cause I go for the over the top, "Que the Hell?", bad acting and stupid subplots..Shout out to Bobby's bad singing, Yep I don't think she will be thrilled when she finds out it is Bobby.

Al, well I dunno, I can't really believe he is in love, I do think he realized Andrea was probably just about sex, ya think?

What I find hard to believe in everyone of these stories, is why the goal of every young girl is not to be an Amante, clearly every middle age married guy is now boinking someone about half their age.

Clearly Mili you marry Al and twenty years from now he is going to be doing some sweet young thing while you drink all day, trim flowers and stare in the mirror lamenting your lost youth. While the best you can do is a mercy encounter from some other painfully middleaged guy who hates his wife.

Thank you NinaK!!! You have already put in a link and done some notes. This is great. I actually got out pencil and paper and gave it a go. I don't know how much will fit in these comment boxes. I didn't check here before I did the notes, so some of it is the duplicate of yours - oops, sorry!

Here goes - and please fix where I misunderstood. Oh, and I didn't remember the name of Euginio's wife.
Constancio kisses Eugenio’s wife.
Hugo and Alex are exchanging words about Mili – they both profess they love her. She walks in and asks what’s going on. Hugo says he’s in love with Mili. Alex doesn’t say he is. Mili tells Alex to come down off his cloud, get lost. You are wasting your time. I’m not going to fall in love with anyone. Men are all alike.

Constancio’s offce
Eugenio’s wife says she liked Connie from before, but he was in love with another woman. Constancio – “Rosario!” He doesn’t want to talk about it.
They agree it’s fair to give Luci a taste of her own medicine. Big smooch.

Hallway:
Alex grabs Mili, drags her into the doorway of his room. Let go of me! Alex: Don’t believe Hugo. Don’t pose nude. He’s not normal. He is a guy who stays in his room, is in a wheelchair. Mili: I’m going to pose! Hugo forces a kiss – Hugo, lurking in doorway of his own room, sees, and is crushed. He closes the door. Mili pushes Alex away and says that’s the difference, Hugo respects her.

Restaurant:
Connie and E’s wife. Wife: Don’t you want to find your lost love, see what happened? Connie: Leave the past to the past. Connie: Does Bobby know what happened? Wife: he just knows that his father deserted us. Connie: it would be good if he did know, because then he would tell Alex - And Alex’s opinion of his mother sure would change

Bar:
Mili and friend are at the bar, she is jiving to the music. Bar owner: This big crowd is here to see a new band and now they’ve cancelled. Friend knows someone who can fill in, Bobby, and yes he’s here – Mili goes to get him, shoves Alex away and drags Bobby off. Next: Bobby tells Alex that it’s his big debut tonight.

I'll continue in the next comment box..

Next part:

Office
Connie in office alone, thinking of E’s wife asking if he didn’t feel like searching for el amor de su vida. He pulls a photo of Rosario and him from his desk drawer and is pensive.

Ad for Pasion :weeping, smooching

Bar
Rorgan is there too. A ratty-looking stranger wants to dance with Mili. Alex comes up, tells him she’s with him (Alex). She goes ahead and dances with the guy. After the dance, Alex asks why she won’t dance with him.

The bar owner is up on stage introducing Bobby. Oddly enough, there are some musicians to play background. After all the wild cheering and dancing, Bobby has selected a quiet song. The crowd seems to approve and sways happily. Bobby is waaay off-key.

Bedroom:
Luci is in a real nice nightie – a blue floral number. Maybe she’s drunk. She decides to call Eugenio’s hotel in Rome. She says “buon giorno” and the captions say “bonjour.” She discovers that the operator speaks Spanish. Eugenio has left the hotel (permanently?)

Bar again:
Same guy wants to dance with Mili. She says no, no second dances. He insists and they get in a yelling match. Alex steps in and gets in a fistfight. Mili and friend take off.

Kitchen:
The girls are back from the dance. Socorro is giving Mili the freeze. They leave. Horacio is there. He tells Socorro sweet nothings. Then he tells her the truth about Mili having taken her hard-earned money for the poor kids’ Christmas to pay the money which actually Karla took. Socorro: She did that for me? Why? Horacio: She couldn’t stand to see you cry.

Maids’ Dorm:
Mili is worried if Alex is still alive. She decides to go to his room.

Kitchen:
Karla comes in. Socorro gives her a hefty slap and tells her off.

Alex’s room:
Mili doesn’t knock. He is in bed, not a bruise on him. He is glad to see her. Phone rings, it’s Andrea. Mili pulls a face. Alex hangs up, then tells Mili that Andrea wanted to see him, but he said no. For her. I love fighting for you. Mili: it’s a game. She takes off. Alex: what game?

Ad for la Familia P. Luche. Hey! There’s Tomas from LFMB!

Hugo’s bedroom:
Hugo looks at his big faceless drawing. Remembers Alex’s saying he loved Mili. Hugo thoughtbubbles: You think because I’m in a wheelchair you can take her away from me? You’re wrong!

Kitchen:
Socorro is sweet to Mili. “You are an angel.” I’ll give you your money back. I didn’t get the rest of this, except that Mili seems to be saying never mind, it’s okay.

Bobby’ bedroom:
His ma: You have the right to know why your father left. Bobby is all ears.

Regina’s bedroom:
Hugo is there – compliments her on how she looks. She’s dressed up to go out. “You’re going out!” Where is Mili? Regina: Don’t mess with her unless you are serious. Hugo: I am, Abuela, my life has changed since I met her. She makes me laugh. Regina: And Andrea? Hugo: it never was much of a romance. I’ll talk to her. Regina: I won’t let you make her suffer. Are you strong enough to do this? The whole family will be against you. Can you take it?

Hugo’s bedroom:
Mili: The abuela said you wanted to see me. That was total BS what you said last night. Hugo: how can you say that? Mili: Men always lie. Hugo says watch this honesty and he stands up from his wheelchair. Mili is super impactada. Hugo: I have a secret. Mili flips out on him: You are the worst liar in the world. How can you do this to your family, to the people you love? You made your father feel like trash. This is a family? I’d rather stick with the orphans at the convent!

Kitchen:
Damien is taking tastes of the food. Socorro: leave Karla alone. Damien: But she came to me! Socorro tells him off while waving her big chef’s knife around. She bisects a vegetable for emphasis.

Soccer field:
Mili and Rogan are there and Regina too. Alex shows up in a uniform and says he will be portero. Mili is ticked off. Regina said she invited him. Mili says well okay. General high spirits.

News: a space shuttle is taking off.

Soccer field:
Slo-mo soccer play. Alex catches the ball! He misses the next one. Regina cheers – Mili tells her wrong team. Homeless Hugo is there. Mili bets a player mil pesos that her side will win – she wants to get sweets for the orphans.

Poolside:
Valeria is swimming. Braulio comes with a big envelope. He flicks stray water droplets off his pants, does a neat about face and leaves.

Soccer field
The other team wins. Mili is a sore loser. Alex: Can I join the team? Mili – well, okay.
Padre to Alex: I’m glad you like Mili, like a brother. Alex to self: it’s not the love of a brother.

Off-field
Mili and Homeless Hugo talk. She tells him about Wheelchair Hugo. He says pity the poor guy, he lost everyone he held dear. She invites him to Christmas eve dinner at the orphanage. He says how nice!

Poolside
Valeria is cuddling a boom box – a love tape is playing. She is ecstatic. Bobby watches from behind a pillar, happy. Luci descends the garden stairway in her gardening getup. Bobby says he came to talk to Alex, but maybe he shouldn’t. Could she council him? Of course, she says, you are my son’s best friend. Bobby: maybe I was before you started messing with my father. Luci is impactada – her eyes dart about. Don’t tell. Bobby: Yeah, if I tell it’ll mess up your plans to meet up with my father in Roma, huh? I don’t need your advice.

Pasion ad again – no one is weeping.

Office
E’s wife tells Connie that she told Bobby. Connie: I’d have loved to have seen his face. Maybe my wife will take to the bottle and leave me in peace. E’s wife: I’m not going to leave you in peace. Big smoochies. Alex walks in on them!

Valeria in a den
Rorgan: you rang? Valeria: Can you tango? Rorgan: And how! Valeria: Teach me! Rorgan presses his hands to his heart.

Office
Alex to Connie: How can you look yourself in the mirror? Why don’t you change your life, separate from Mother and leave us all in peace? A few cross words. Alex leaves. Stupid, says Connie.

Alex’s bedroom
(I think this is what they said) Mili knocks, Alex is in bed as usual, not reading or anything. Mili: I bet 1 mil to get money for the orphans’ gifts and now I owe it. Can you help? Alex: yes. Mili, will you split it? Alex won’t say definitely. She tells him off.

Christmas eve at the convent.
Everyone is sitting down to dinner. The padre says a prayer, then Mili digs in. She misses the food. She discusses no toys, and how Santa just seems to come for the rich kids.

House
Fancy Christmas dinner – guests are arriving. Bobby and his mom come, she greets Luci. No Alejandro, says Regina – he has something more important to do. What’s more important than family asks Luci. Funny you should ask says the wife. Andrea is arriving.

Convent
We all saw this one coming: Here’s Santa with a ton of gifts. The kids go nuts. Santa pulls the beard away a little to show Mili it’s him, Alex. She throws her arms around him. Homeless Hugo lurks. Alex pulls down the beard to show the nuns and the padre that it’s him. General jubilation.

Avances:
It’s going to be one helluva a Christmas party.

And that's it for amateur recapper night!

Maggie, it's time you became a recapper for real. We need you on Thursday night and you obviously can do it.
All your team members will be very supportive and Melinama will show you how to put it in the text. You're ready!

Great idea, JudyB. Maggie, you seem to have the knack to do this!

P.S. I was paying so little attention to parts of the episode that I had Regina talking to Alex. Silly me! Thanks for getting all the action in.

Ninak...actually I think Regina WAS talking to Alex...Maggie may have misstyped Hugo's name in there.

Hey, Maggie, that looks suspiciously like a recap, there :) Add me to the "come on, do it for real" chorus!

I have nothing to add, except the supposition that what's got Alejandro's boxers in a twist about Mili is either:
(a) Hugo's admission of love spurred him to make his own admission, which he was not expecting (the old "oh, I really do love her, I just didn't realize it!") or
(b) He hasn't changed so much yet and only thinks he loves her because Hugo said he loves her (the old "I'm bored with my toy...NO, you can't have it!")

And Hugo really needs to step it up if he thinks he can compete with Alejandro. So far he's not done anything that can compete with the Santa Claus ploy (and I agree, we all saw that coming--those poor kids now get to watch Mili macking on Santa...scarred for life!). Plus he's still got another big whopping lie to reveal and I don't predict she'll take that one well either. The best thing he can do is probably come clean about everything, start living some semblance of a normal life and be a better boyfriend than Alejandro. And the first part is probably going to be way harder for him than the second!

Yes, Maggie, pleeze, pleeze, pleeze, puh-leeze, pretty please, be the Thursday recapper!

I hadn’t really meant to do the whole recap, since we were going to share. I just made notes so I could participate the next day. What happened was that my handwriting is so bad (can’t read my own grocery lists!) that my notes were mostly illegible. I realized I wouldn’t be able to read them the next day, so at every ad I stopped the tape and typed them up. By the time I got done, I realized the whole show was there. It was 1:30 in the morning and I thought what the hey, I’ll throw the whole thing in there. So I prettied it up only a little and posted it.

Then I worried that I’d bummed some others out because I’d piggied up the whole recap. NinaK and another blog pal had volunteered to participate. So I apologize for that, and for my stuff being just notes, not polished.

Still, it was fun, and harder than I’d imagined.

Well, more musings on Alejandro's sudden love jones for Milli. I think we were supposed to believe that their seeming antipathy was really indicative of the fabulous chemistry between these two love-destined beings. The more both fought against it, the more they were drawn to each other.
But Alejandro, being a doofus, didn't consciously realize it until he blurted it out to Hugo and then ta-dahhhh!
Well, the doofus part sure makes sense to me. And the fightin' feudin' fussin' part is pure 1940's comedy...or even "when Harry met Sally"...and remember it took HIM a long time to figure it out too. And then kaboom, he's off and running like our Al.

What an episode. Connie is a vindictive bastard isn't he. Getting Melania or whatever her name is to tell Bobby about the affair knowing Bobby will break the news to Odious Al about his trampy mother. Too bad Al was off playing football and Bobby El Cantante didn't get the chance. Now All catches the not very real lovers in that clinch in Connie's office chair so he isn't going to believe Bobby. Those two are going to be scared for life with scheming cheating parents.

Break out the bottle Luci your Doc has flown the coop in Roma. That scene was fun with her switching back and forth between Italian and Spanish.

The Hugo/Al scene was a direct copy, almost word for word, of a similar scene in Morelia. I'm amusing myself while watching this show by catching the obvious rip-offs from other novelas.

WOW that slap Socorro gave Karla was so realistic I'm surprised the girl didn't fall to the floor. And did miss snip have it coming.

Shades of Innocente de Ti Mili is out to save this screwed up family and make all the pain go away. It will take some doing to make Damian, Connie and Luci even half human.

Judy,

Nice catch on the feuding and fussing with the doofus. That is further reinforced by that conversation he had with the Padre when the priest commented on him liking Mili as a little sister and the doofus said because we fight all the time. Before telling himself it wasn't like brother and sister at all.

I did like him admitting to Regina that Mili made him laugh and smile. Somehow i think that smiles are in very short supply at Casa Belmonte except among the staff.

Well, thanks to all of you who have pitched in for today. Maggie, even if you don't want to take over recapping, your help was fantastic (it does take a long time to transcribe the notes sometimes).

For now, I guess we'll continue with everyone putting in bits and pieces.

NinaK-
I'm e-mailing with Melinama!

Yay for Maggie!
