Pasión 03/24/08: “Vengeance Is Mine” Sayeth Santiago and Lisabeta

In her prison cell Cami and Saintly Santi are still arguing over Ric’s fate and Saintly’s honor bound duty to report his sorry backside to the authorities for piracy on the high seas. Cami is certain Santi wants to report Ric as a means for vengeance on his part, though Saintly insists that he has to report Ric only because she was tricked into living in sin with the deceitful SOB. In the end Cami pleads for mercy from Saintly and she promises to break if off completely with Ric if Saintly will promise not to turn Ric in to the authorities after all.

Saintly who, at this point is apparently suffering from one hell of a Gawd-complex, relents and agrees to this, as long as Cami leaves Ric and sends him away, AND as long as Ric agrees to give her up. (If Saintly Santi believes for one minute that he can actually force “El Antillano”, such a ruthless, thieving, murdering pirate from Hell, to put up with this sort of self-righteous, supercilious malarkey, let alone Antillano having his ex-rival separate him permanently from his WOman this way, Santi has got to be delusional.) Cami gets up off her knees, sobbing inconsolably and Santiago, like some father doling out punishment to a child, tells her he knows that she hates him right now but she will thank him for it in time. (Am I the only one hearing fingernails scraping a chalkboard somewhere?) She can only cry and nod as he pats her shoulder and leaves her to her punishment.

At the Palace Mancera that night, Sofia and Jorge discuss the outcome of Lis’ lawsuit and Cami’s fate. Jorge says it was to be expected. (Well, if your pal Al hadn’t continually forced the hand of the judge in Lis’ favor, perhaps not so much.) Sofia says it’s just so unfair and Jorge says he had no input in the matter, that the judge handled all fairly and squarely to the letter of the law. “What a bitch that Lis is,” says Sofia. Jorge quickly agrees but insists that what’s done is done and that’s the way it is. Sofia mimics him in frustration, “That’s the way it is! That’s the way it is!” So Jorge warns her she’d better stay out of it because it…er… might be very embarrassing for Sofia to find herself being refused something by the guards or the civil authorities.

Talk turns to Uriel and Ursula’s relationship. Jorge wonders how the two are getting along. Sofia says she’s not sure, but she didn’t much care for Uriel’s spiteful gossip the other day about Ric possibly being some sort of pirate. Jorge plays the sympathetic dolt again and nods.

Across town Vasco and Ascanio are chatting in Justo’s house when Ines comes in and says that she didn’t want to tell Justo, when she was giving him his bedtime tea, about Lis’ petition to have Cami put under her care as a bail precaution. Justo appeared to be very nervous already anyway. Ascanio explains they were talking about Santi and Vasco mentions that Santi’s hatred toward Ric is personal since he cannot stand it that Cami stopped loving him for another man. Ines naively defends her brother and insists Santi is only upset that Cami has been living in sin all this time. (This and an American greenback at today’s exchange rates might just buy you a cup a coffee…..) Ascanio suggests that if Santi is so set on demonstrating his evangelism that he should remember that Christ forgave those who sent him to be martyred. (You got to love the cool head on this guy’s hunky shoulders, not to mention the apparent religious education he must have gotten from those monks that has apparently stuck.) He leaves then to tell Jimena that the two of them have no worries now of being sent back into servitude.

When Ascanio is gone Ines turns to Vasco and warns him to mend his ways or Justo will never forgive him. He asks if she has yet but she says nope. He’s still in the doghouse and that she is sleeping in Paco’s room tonight on a cot.

On La Salamandra the next morning Mario tells Ric they’ll be arriving ahead of schedule as the wind is favorable. Ric gives Mario instructions to divide up the money from Foreman, take what they owe towards Cami’s debt and then give the rest to the pirates’ families at La Iguana. Mario laments that Ric is in love again. Mario advises Ric that falling in love isn’t good because it makes them vulnerable and besides, love is painful. Ric replies, “Yes, but one doesn’t choose when, how, nor with whom.” Ric tells Mario that just because he got hurt once doesn’t mean that all women are the same, but Mario says he prefers not to take the risk. Ric wonders if Mario has children or if not, doesn’t he at least miss his family?

Mario teases him about breaking the rules of the fraternity by asking, but Ric says hey, they’ve been doing that together for years already. They’re brothers and he knows Ric’s whole life story by now. Mario answers that he doesn’t think he has any kids. Ric says he remembers Mario’s father is supposed to be a soldier in some prison…”Valladolid” but Mario insists he has no desire to see the man again. “Why, so the guy can hang me for piracy?” he laughs bitterly. “—One more reason for us to retire and change our lives,” says Ric. “—I don’t think that I could handle it,” muses Mario.

Back in San Fernando Jime and Ascanio are on their way over to the prison to visit Cami. Ascanio has told Jime that he quit his job working for Santiago due to their disagreement. Jime thinks it was foolish because Santi wouldn’t have taken it out on him, but Ascanio says that even so, it was a matter of self-respect since he disagrees with the way Santi has treated Camila. Jime scoffs at the way men are always hassling themselves with the idea of “dignity.” Just then Ursula and Uriel go galloping through the plaza. Jime asks what’s up with them now. Ascanio says he’s Ursula’s latest in husband material. Jime hopes that means she’s forgotten about Vasco and Ascanio says “God willing.”

Jime and Ascanio enter the prison cell and greet Cami with lots of hugs and kisses. Cami asks them if they know that they don’t have anything to fear about returning to servitude again, They tell her they know and that’s why they’ve come to visit her. She confesses to them then, in tears, what she had to promise Santi in order to keep him from turning Ric in to the authorities. Jime says she’s crazy if she thinks Ric will ever agree to that, but Cami insists he will if she asks him to. Jime looks at Ascanio who again cannot believe what he’s just heard come out of Cami’s mouth.

Across town at Frankenstein Mansion, Lis and Fran are packing up to leave. Mannie says she was worried Lis and her father had had an argument, but Lis says he actually approves of the idea. Once Mannie has left them Fran mentions that Mannie had bruises on her face and Lis asks if Al had beaten her perhaps. Fran covers her apparent mistake and says she doesn’t think so, that the girl probably just fell. Al comes to take them over to Cami’s former house.
After they arrive to take possession and move in, and while the servants bring in the luggage, Al tells Lis and Fran that next week they will be formally signing their marriage contract. Lis says fine, but she’s not going to have any party because she’s uncomfortable about the business with the inheritance. Al is a bit impactado to hear this and figures this would be rude considering Jorge and Sofia will be present, but stops himself short. He says they’ll discuss that later on once the papers are signed. Lis gets goosebumps as he whispers good-bye in her ear saying that he’ll be by in the evening to see her again.
=========

Ascanio visits Santi just long enough to tell him he’s quitting and that he also knows about the pact Cami made with him. He doesn’t agree with it or, with how unhappy Santi has made her just because he doesn’t like Ric and does not choose to believe Ric’s side of things. Santi says if Cami stays with Ric she won’t be just unhappy, she’ll be disgraced and her life will be in danger as well. Ascanio says true, but anyway he’s still quitting because Santi no longer trusts him over the reason he stayed quiet. It was simply because of his loyalty to Cami and because he felt he owed Ric since he had contributed in part to his hard knocks.

Back at the prison, Cami tells Justo and Ines that she’s decided to break it off with Ric and send him away for good. Justo says Ric deceive them and it’s best she does this before the whole town discovers her (and no doubt, the Dariens’) “shame.” Cami adds, though, that now she will not accept Ric’s paying off her debts. Justo is mighty impactado to hear this financially cumbersome change of events because it means she’ll be in jail for years. (Can’t have it both ways, Justo. Ric is either a very rich saint of an SIL or an SOB of a sinner.) He agrees and says the family will find some way to get the money together.

Afterwards Justo goes to the palace to discuss all that’s been happening with Sofia. Justo tells Sofia the business about Cami’s new bond arrangement with Lis. Sofia commiserates and says that she already knew about it, but that according to Jorge it was all done according to the law and that they cannot is intervene on her behalf. She recommends being patient and waiting for Ric to return home. Ric will certainly buy her back from Lis and give her her freedom, so, problem solved. Justo just grunts and, it seems, doesn’t dare tell her what he knows about Ric’s true identity nor that he doubts any of this will take place, considering.

Outside the jail a few of the guards take Cami hand-tied over to what is now Lis’s house. Justo comes out of the palace at the same time and walks over towards his daughter, but the captain of the guard prevents him from accompanying her to the house because now that she’s a servant he says she does not have the right to even speak if she’s not authorized too. (That makes her less in rank socially than even that sad, saucy gossip, Clothilde!!)

The townsfolk are incensed to see Justo and his daughter being treated this way and start throwing things at the guards. Justo screams back at the captain of the guard through the noise that he’s still a free man and can walk through the streets anywhere he chooses to and nobody can stop him! Then he yells in Cami’s ear that he just spoke with Doña Sofia but she has said that nothing else can be done for her. There’s a great tug of war between the guards and Justo over Cami. The captain screams at Justo and the crowd that this is the law and he’s only following orders, so if any of them continue to interfere he will put them in jail.

Meanwhile, El Chino and La Paisana come out from the inn and watch with their mouths open as Cami is being dragged through town to Lis’ and are disgusted at the way she’s being treated. The two agree that Paisana should go to Antillano’s house to get someone there to get word to El Antiano and tell him what has happened to Cami.

The guard drops her off inside the courtyard of Cami’s house and Clothilde is there to take charge of her. The captain says he’s putting a guard out front to make sure she doesn’t escape and suggests they take measures inside to do the same. Clothilde takes a cruel delight in telling Cami that Lis has put her in charge of Cami and in short she’ll be working from sunup to sundown. She tells Camil she’ll have to change into dowdy duds and will also have to sleep in the storeroom since she and Candida share the only other bedroom.

Cami insists that Clothilde is not to address her informally (“tutear”) because she always treated Cloe with respect and now demands that she do the same with her. Cloe reluctantly agrees, then Cami adds angrily that she prefers the storeroom and not to bother showing her the way as she certainly has not forgotten that she used to own the place and stomps off to get cleaned up.

El Chino visits Jorge at the palace and they discuss their business arrangements. El Chino tells him he’s got to get back to the hideout to get his merchandise ready for transporting into San Fernando. Jorge takes the opportunity to grumble about his friends all leaving him alone these days while they have developed various new relationships and marital obligations. Time was he says when they all used to get together there in the palace or the local whorehouse and party hardy but no more.

El Chino asks about his family and Jorge tells him he has a family including a bastard son who is the local blacksmith but who, because of certain “problems” in the past, refuses to accept his formal recognition. El Chino seemingly notes that Jorge has a family in name only and Jorge doesn’t seem to take any comfort or pleasure in it. Jorge mentions then that his son is lame from a former injury. El Chino tells Jorge that in his culture there are people who can cure the lame with needles (acupuncture). He describes the method to Jorge who then tells El Chino that if he brings him someone who can cure his son he will pay him anything he asks. El Chino agrees.

At Ric’s, JImena, Pablo and La Paisana discuss Antillano’s need to be warned that his true identity has been discovered, and that even if Santiago has promised not to say anything, he will need to know what has happened there in San Fernando so he can be prepared. Pablo agrees to go warn him since he knows where and when La Salamandra will be pulling in to shore.
On La Salamandra at the same time Ric and Mario discuss the best place to land; Ric figures they’ll save a day or so by putting the money into smaller chests which are lighter and will allow them to travel cross country more quickly on horseback rather than in a caravan.

At Justo’s GRita and Ines discuss the money situation with him. GRita says once Cami’s husband gets back he’ll have the money and things will get paid off. Then Justo lets the cat out of the bag unwittingly and says, yes, but his wonderful son-in-law now turns out to be a pirate. Ines is dumbfounded he should mention this in front of GRita and tries to make a quick save by saying they aren’t sure of that; but Justo seems puzzled and answers her. “--but your brother found out already! When GRita hears this she blows a gasket because Santi never said word one to her about it. (As if!)

Across the yard Santi is watching the excited chatter from his forge when Chip and Dale walk up and want to know what’s been going on around there recently and why Santi doesn’t trust them enough to let them in on things anymore. They explain that they know Camila and Ric have both been in prison and they just saw her tied up and being dragged to her house but now as the blind lady’s servant. Then they ask why Ascanio didn’t bother to come in to work today either. Santi tells them that he had a falling out with Ascanio and he quit then gives a quick rundown about Cami’s inheritance problems and walks off. They know he’s still not telling them everything.

Now Santi can’t stand it any longer and walks in on the discussion on his front lawn. GRita comes at him complaining that Cami now refuses to have Ric pay off her debts and there’s no way they are going to do it either. Ines explains to him that since Cami made the pact with him to leave Ric she logically didn’t want him stuck paying off her debts. GRita starts in again that she refuses to have Santi sell his forge or her father to be forced to sell off his mill all because of Cami and her being such a fool. Santi knows he’s stepped in it now and yells back defensively that there will be some solution and he’ll find it. He stomps off leaving the rest of them looking forlornly at one another while GRita harrumphs and snorts in disgust.
===========

Lis sends for Cami and tries to shoo Fran out to speak with Cami alone. Fran refuses and tells her to stop treating her like one of her maids. Cami comes in. Lis tries to play the benevolent mistress and tells Cami with feigned sweetness that she is sooo sorry that she is there and in this situation now. Lis asks her if she knows what her duties are, but Cami doesn’t buy the sweetness and light act. They argue. Cami answers back that of course she does since Lis obviously remembers how she was her father’s servant at one time. Lis laughs at this and says that Cami was never her father’s servant because from the first day he had ordered her put into one of her mother’s best dresses. Cami bewitched her father just like she’s done with Ricardo.

Cami snickers at this and asks if Lis really believes she uses spells on people, because otherwise she’d have already zapped Lis into a toad (now, that I’d like to see!) and run out the door laughing merrily, but that isn’t the way things are, are they? Lis laughs at her condescendingly and says Cami knows what she is referring to: the way she whored her way into the inheritance and then did the same with Ric. Cami yells that she is not a whore and is tired of arguing over what they both know for a fact: that if her father gave her his money he did it of his own accord and if it weren’t her it would have been some other woman.

Lis spits back at Cami that she’s going to get even with her but not for the matter of the inheritance at all, but for taking Ric away from her. “He was mine!” Lis tells her. Now it’s Cami’s turn to snicker. “Who says? Did you dream it? Was it your imagination or what?” Cami tells her that if Ric had been the least bit interested in LIs he’d have made his move toward her a long time ago. As it was, he preferred herself to blind as a batty Lis. Lis sneers and tells her that in the end all she ever was to Ric was a mistress.

Cami sees her opportunity to possibly bargain with Lis and takes advantage of it. She offers to leave Ric definitively if in exchange loony Lis forgives the rest of the debt. “If he and I separate he shouldn’t have to repay the debt, and neither should my family, not that even if they sold all they have, could they ever come up with that amount (All things considered, I wouldn’t trust LIs as far as I could throw her at this point.) Fran objects loudly. “No way! That’s a small fortune!” “—A favor for a favor, Lisabeta,” Cami taunts and pushes her advantage.” Lis doesn’t think twice and accepts the deal. Fran objects again but Lis turns to her aunt. “I said I agree!”

Smiling to herself, Cami goes back out to her room. On the way she asks Candida to get her a pen and paper so she can write a note to her father. Candida is happy to help out.

Inside in the living room Fran tells Lis she’s dreaming if she thinks that Cami, much less Ric, will ever abide by this agreement. “Besides,” she asks, “what does your cousin matter to you now if you’re getting married to LaFont?” Lis says at least he should be left with some of the inheritance from her father. Fran says she’s certain Lis has something in mind, but whatever it is she has a strange feeling that things are going to turn out badly for Lis in the end. Lis just sits there smiling to herself lost in her own world.
=================

Back at the inn El Chino and La Paisana worry about where Ric might hold up. El Chino says he’s a big boy and can take care of himself; he’s too smart to let himself get caught. Chino mentions then that he’s got to get back to the hideout and arrange for the transfer of the merchandise so he’ll be gone for a day or so. He tells La Paisana that he’s also going to arrange for another oriental, a healer, to come try to cure Jorge’s bastard son, the blacksmith’s, limp.

La Paisana says she’s going to stay on there, partly because of Pablo, but also because she wants to be there in case Antillano might need her help. Since he has always treated Pablo decently she figures that if he gets in a bind she can kidnap either Jorge’s wife or his daughter and barter with Jorge if need be. El Chino says it’s a nice idea, but with people like them diplomacy works better than trying to force them into doing something.
=============

At Santi’s Ofelia reminds her son that Justo wants to avoid anymore scandals so no reason to turn Ric into the authorities. GRita asks him why he can’t just let Cami leave with Ric and be done with it. He says because they are not married. She asks him if that is the real reason or is it he figures with Ric gone he’s free to try to make Cami his mistress. Santi forbids GRita to mention her again, let alone insult her like that.

Ofelia loses her patience now and tells them to stop the constant bickering back and forth. GRita asks why in the world they can’t just let Cami follow her husband, or whatever he is, and let her be. Santi explains that if she’s caught during one of the pirate raids with him then she ends up being accused and punished right along with him. GRita agrees that she doesn’t want that kind of thing happening to Cami and shuts up.

Justo and Vasco offer Ascanio a job working in the mil and he accepts in exchange for no more than his room and board. Justo is still upset though at the thought that Ric, as good as he’s been to them, should go off with Cami to a life like that. Ines says they shouldn’t give up and they can still hope for a miracle of some kind.
==================

That night Cami writes a note to her father telling him about her agreement with Lis to forgive her debt if she leaves Ric for good. She worries then how she will tell Ric about this and what she should say to convince him to leave her. At the same time Ric is thinking inside his cabin whether he should forget about winning his pardon from The Crown and run off with Cami to some foreign shore. Then he decides that what he really wants is to get his good name back so that she and his children will have it and whatever rightfully belongs to them. Cami deserves that much from him.
At the palace Jorge is bored and goes to visit Sofia in her bedroom for a nighttime chat.

Ursula is apparently receiving male visitors in her room again. This time it is Uriel, who admits he’s not used to visiting women in their rooms by coming in through the entrance to the garbage dump. Ursula giggles and greets him in her fancy skivvies. He tells her that if her daddy finds out he’ll kill him. Of course she says Daddy won’t be finding out. Uriel begins by taking off his jacket, but he is not exactly prepared for Ursula’s forward and rather loose personality, but he eventually takes it all in stride. He mentions that Al and Lis will be marrying the same time they do. Ursula laughs and says she doesn’t think Al will be that lucky since Lis, hypocrite that she is, still has a thing for Ric.

Jorge comments to Sofia that he is going to try to ingratiate himself with Santi by bringing in a healer who might cure his limp. She says that it would be better if he does what Santi is asking him and announces publically that he never actually “deflowered” Camila. Jorge, out of pride, refuses to do so. “No way, woman, am I going to humiliate myself telling folks I couldn’t get it up!”

In Ursula’s bedroom Uriel is getting more and more comfortable and wearing fewer and fewer bits of his clothes. She teases him into taking his shirt off and modeling his pecks for her. Eventually she and the Uriel get started doing the nasty with him with that crazy goatee and Dali hairdo looking like the mythical goat-man, Pan.
==================

The next morning Clothilde refuses to let Justo and Jimena in to speak to Lis and Fran and spitefully slams the door in their faces. The guard tells them also that Cami is not allowed to have any visitors whatsoever. Justo goes over to tell Sofia what just happened. Sofia says she is going over to Lis’ herself to see what’s going on.

Ric lands with some of his men and they go on horseback with the small chests of money.

Sofia arrives and Clothilde apologizes for not knowing apparently that it was Sofia at the door this time. Sofia gets angry when she sees Cami scrubbing the walkway on her hands and knees and says she never did this while living at home let alone having to do this in a stranger’s home. She promises to take the note Cami wrote to her father and deliver it to him and promises to try to correct a few things while they wait for Ric’s return.

About four hours out from San Fernando Ric and Mario run into El Chino on the road. Ric finds out through El Chino that they have now discovered who he is in San Fernando. Ric asks who exactly and Chino says that at least his wife’s entire family knows his true identity. He says that La Paisana also had sent a message to warn him of this and to tell him that Cami is in under guard in Lis’ house. Ric gets angry when he hears this since Lis promised him to let her stay at her father’s. He races on towards San Fernando with his men and the money.

Sofia, Fran and Lis are in the living room. Lis categorically refuses to sell Cami to Sofia, making the excuse that she agreed on selling her to Ric alone. Sofia doesn’t swallow that story either and accuses Lis of trying to take out her vengeance on Cami for something that wasn’t her fault. Lis claims Cami was at fault for driving her father to do what he did. Sofia disagrees and says it is apparent that her father was some sort of old pervert after young girls. If he chose to leave Cami his money it was by choice.

Lis politely answers maybe so, but she is not selling Cami to anybody but Ric and that is her final word. Sofia says let’s see if he doesn’t spit in your face when he returns and finds out the way you’ve been treating her. Sofia finds her own way out and leaves Lis standing there with the fake smile still plastered on her face.

Fran tells Lis that she’s made a powerful enemy now out of Sofia and warns her that sooner or later Sofia is going to get back at her. Lis says, sweet as sugar, that she won’t give Sofia that pleasure. Fran asks her just what she has in mind and exactly what she means by that.

OMG, what a show. Lis is just dripping in evil, isn't she. I'm really hoping that Bouf grabs her by the wrist, drags her off to church, marries her despite the protests & tears, & gives her some special Bouffy-lovin' (gag). That is exactly what she deserves...oh, & a little "time out" in the closet for good measure.

Saintly deserves gRita. They can be miserable together. Who does he think he is? Smug SOB.

LOVE Ascanio! LOVE MMMMMMMario!

Uriel...nice bod but yes, he does look like some demented Pan. Give him a lute & a horse's ass & there you go, Whoresula, he's all yours. (think she'll give him an STD?)

Thanks for the recap! I cannot keep up w/ the dialogue...should have paid more attention to my Spanish teacher!

:-)

What a good show. I was glad to see Camila stand up to the nosey maid and to Lis and I'm waiting for sanctimonious Santi's comeuppance. Looking forward to tonights show and what Ric is going to do now that his pirate secret is out and especially how he deals with Lis since she didn't keep her word which we knew she wouldn't do anyway and loved Sophia putting Lis on notice. Lis has made a powewrful enemy now LOL.

Great recap. Thanks for filling in the details.

Priceless: The look on Vasco's handsome face when he says to Ines, "You mean we're not sleeping in the same bed?"

Yes - I agree, you hit the description of Uriel right on the head. He does look like some demented or deranged Pan thing person.

I still think that LaBuffy and Lis should marry and be exiled to the desert together.

Ric's getting his good name back is key here. Once he does that, he unravels the plots that his uncle and aunt waged against him, and then he should be able to claim the fortune for himself as rightful heir. It's a little more complicated than that, but, that's what I hope happens.

Meanwhile, send Lis to a convent where she has to pray all day, and maybe give her a short break to play with her dolls.

Jardinera,Your as usual great recap cleared up several points that I didn't get. One of them was about the acupuncture --which was a little funny, as it is a Chinese art and not a Japanese one, and Il Chino is Japanese and not Chinese.Whatever....

I was recently watching the LFMB video and found Uriel as the man who gives Aldo $2 million for the Gastronomica Mexico project. He was without the goatee --and he has a very square Neanderthal jaw and believe it or not looks much better with the funny goatee. Also, I think that in the scene where Lety is converted into Aurora at some event, Manuela has a part as the blond entertainer, and looks lovely with long blond hair. It's really true that Univision is like the old Hollywood system, and uses the same "players' over and over.

I also found it funny that when Jorge complains to Sofia that he has been abandoned by his buddies, she tells him to go to the bordello, but he says it's no fun to go alone.Caray, caray! That woman is something.

When Ric told Mario that you can't help who, where, etc. you fall in love with, I thought that was a good explanation of his PASION for Camila. Boy she is a nitwit! But I guess if she weren't, there would have to be a whole new plot.

Jardinera - thank you for the splendid recap.

I am so angry at Santi. I can't believe that I am saying that but I also think that he deserves GRita. I always thought "poor Santi, you lost the love of your life ANd you are stuck with the annoying Grita" but it seems that those two meant to be together.

I am also mad at the situation with Cami being Lizabeta's servant. I imagine how you felt actually watching the dragging scene. But it was also good to "see" Cami answering back at Liz.

I am so excited! "Passion" is getting better and better. I don't want it to end but I am also looking forward to the ending. I can't really explain it!

Well, I think Lisabeta and LaFont deserve each other - being married would be the perfect punishment for both of them! (Locking her in the closet wouldn't be much of a punishment - I doubt that she's afraid of the dark.)

Chickens are coming home to roost everywhere - Vasco's in disgrace with his father and Ines won't sleep with him; Rita was forced to admit that she didn't think Camila deserved (here I'm not sure what exactly - was it being executed for being married to a pirate, or what Lisabeta was subjecting her to?); Santiago has Ascanio and the twins mad at him; Lisabeta has LaFont fondling her and Sofia mad at her (this will not end well); Jorge is finding himself alone; Ursula and Uriel seem to be deserving of each other ... but at the moment they seem happy about it.

Waiting for the next exciting development!

I just want to find out what plot Lis is cooking up in her evil little mind that she won't even let Tia Fran in on. And how the hell is she going to face Ric after he finds out she has made Camila into her personal Cinderella scrubbing the floors?

I was surprised at how quickly Camila stopped sobbing, straigtened her spine and took on both Clotilde and Lis. Good for her for refusing to play the victim for them.

A+ Jardinera for another 5 star recap. One of the many things that make this novela so likeable is how well it is recapped. I too am very annoyed with Santi right now. He has some nerve being so self righteous and focused on the legality of Cami's marriage. He has no respect for his own wife (even though she brought that on herself). Cami needs to stop making complicating decisions that involve's Ric. I do feel sorry for her in her present situation though. I also wish Al on Lis. After their marriage I want her to gain just enough of her sight to be able to see his face and body. Being blind is definitely to her advantage in this situatn. What is Jorge thinking? What makes him think that Santi will accept a cure for his selfrighteous limp. He might not be so angry if he lost that constant reminder of how it occured. The limp has become ingrained in his personality. If Uriel does get an STD, it probably came from the local whorehouse rather than from Ursula. Otherwise, Vasco and Inez would both be itching.

I kinda like a Neanderthal jaw, and I can't stand the little goatee. I still think Ursula is getting a much better man than she deserves, even if he is in on the caravan robberies. I'm just wondering how she's going to screw this up - because somehow I can't imagine a 100% happy ending for her!

Well, our little Whoresula is shown during the opening montage playing tonsil hockey with Foreman so she may not end up with Pan/Uriel. Now Foreman would be a perfect match for her! Conniving, sneaky, greedy, & oh so blonde.

Thanks, Jardinera~~~I always enjoy reading your recaps. How many weeks left?...sniff. Things are really moving along at a quick pace. Well, it looks like Ric and Camila against the world now. However, Sofia is a powerful and brave friend to have. I think that she will be very helpful to R and C in saving them from the anvils falling down on them. [This role reminds me of Mariana's part as Tia in Alborada. She was Luis ' and Hipolita's ally against Juana , crazy evil Diego, and Antonio. Mariana seems to always play strong, loyal, confident women...typecasting, I am sure.] Ascanio o o and Jimena are true friends, and El Chino and LA may prove to be helpful to our starcrossed lovers. And, I have a funny feeling that Lis must die so that Ric and Camila get that family fortune and become wealthy again. [It seems that in most telenovelas that I've seen, not only are the lovers finally united, but they also wind up rich and successful. They end up with each other and the perfect life. Fairy tales do come true..it could happen to you...if you star in a telenovela. verdad ? ]Even though Saintly will probably make trouble for Ric, I think that he will sacrifice himself at the end to save Camila and Ric like Adolfosolis sacrificed himself to save his arch rival Manuel because he really loved Matilde and finally realized that Manuel was her Onetruelove..not him. I don't think that San Fer is big enough for both Ric and Saintly.

WONDERFUL recap - because my Spanish is not as good as yours, I depend upon your generous details . . . but your narrative is clever and entertaining without being belittling. Again, muchas gracias for your time and talent.

Boo Hoo! I thought Pasion was prempted for a 2 hr. Guapo and missed the episode. The worst part is I think I missed a lot of Ascanio o o. My heart is broken so I must go to You Tube or Telenovela World to catch up.

By the way I heard the word atropelar on the Spanish news and knew the meaning since I will never forget the line written by the recapper, Jardinera I think, of how our heroine, Gaviota, atropelared all the way to Scotland when she was hit by the taxi while crossing the street to see our dumb hero, Rodrigo, in Londres, caoilal of Inglaterra. You Destilando fans know what I am speaking of.

Sorry about the boo boo in front of boo hoo.

Sorry again for posting twice and misspelling capital. Duh, I feel like Rodrigo.

Ascanio o o has quit his job with Santi. Does this mean we may yet see him shirtless in a bakery making those cinnabons? Maybe Eduardo from FUEGO can hire him. Two shirtless hotties.

Hey- just found this site- great recap! However can anyone tell me where to find the full episode online? I have all episodes set to record but somehow last night's did not and worse is that I was home and about to watch it but hubby was using the tv- when I went to see it later it wasn't there!!

Oh what a lot is happening! Lis is horrible as usual with her smirk.......wait till La Font wipes it off her face.......I mean, SLAPS it off!!!!!

Can't wait to see more anvils falling tonight!

I'm thinking that Lisabetta, who has never yet got her plans to work right, may be planning to collect her checks and take the big boat out of town, with her slave Camilla. ...all before Ricardo gets back! HAh.

MMM Mario was quite distracting handsome last night. hearty harr, har, har!

That wench needs a nickname...hmmm...LisaBUTTa or HeartLis??

Hmmm...Eduardo AND Marcelo side by side making cinnabons for me,,,yummyyum. ''Pattycake, pattycake, baker's man ..bake me a cake as fast as you can...pat it.. and roll it.. and mark it with a ''b''.. and put it in the oven for baby and me.''~~~ sweettooth mad bess, patron of the buns

ooooOOOUuul, Mad Bess!
"...patron of the buns."
That sounds deliciously naughty.

Was anyone else surprised that gRita is willing to forgo the pleasure of publicly disgracing her sister? Afterall she has always enjoyed slashing at her sister's reputation in the family.

Yes...''deliciously naughty''...that's my goal...and you know what they say : It's good to have goals.~~~Mad Bess/aka Cupcake, the deliciously naughty baking pirate

Hi- can someone tell me the name of the actor who plays Uriel??

Thanks for the great recap. Like another poster, my DVR didn't record. There was something that happened that made the electronic schedule say two hours of Guapos instead. Then I got to work and my Spanish speaking co-worker told me it was on after all, so was glad to be able to read about it but sorry to miss really seeing so many exciting events.

I'm voting for some really painful death for Lis at this point.

#%$*&@! I missed it.

Well. I'll just watch it on YouTube, read the recap, and everybody's comments later tonight, all together. Thank GOD for that YouTube collection. I'd be screwed without it.

If it weren't for a critique meeting I've got to get to, I'd do it noooooowwwwwwww....

Great Recap Jarinera as always. such grace and style. I am still mad that I could not get last nights episode in NewMex. hardly seems legal but then, who to complain to. The networks all have robots answering phones so they won't help me.

Medusa, I think Uriel is Toño Mauri, I have been looking on all kinds of sites for him. Unfortunately neither esmas or imdb list his character's name next to his actor name.

and dear mad about the bunsusanlynn, I have tried making jokes, to myself (Willa could care less) about all the fun ways we use buns in English but in español, its bollos for bready things, moño for hair and trasero for the buns we like the most. Well some translations just don't work as well as "mounted" now do they....

Great recap Dreaded Lucy, thanks a lot!
I love Sofia! What a women - she will go to defend Cami enywhere.
Justo - how can he let Cami know in the worst moment that Sofia can't do anything for her??!! For G-d sake - he is the father! Gees, wouldn't want to have father like this for myself!

Eve from Cleveland

Super recap, Jardinera. Thanks, especially for breaking down the conversations. Cami did well in coming back at Lis so strongly.
I did catch enough to know that Cami told her familia that she didn't care if she stayed in jail forever, if she couldn't be with Ric. That should give them a clue about her feelings for him.
And--Ta Dah!!--Sofia springs into action. IMO, she's taking care of the community well-being, while Don Jorge just hangs out enjoying the perks of governing. Glad to hear him say that being bad wasn't much fun all by himself.
Hubby was alarmed at how loud and violent my shouted advice to the tn characters became during this episode. Can't help it, this show just reels me in.
La Paloma

Thank you Cheryl!! Yeah, it's weird how even on the sites that show 50 cast members he's not listed...
as for the youtube collection can someone please tell me how to find it? I did search on youtube earlier today and only came across short clips and none were of yesterdays show. I had hoped/assumed that someone might have a collection-- anyone know the username or how they title it?

The actor playing Uriel was in Duelo de Pasiones . I think that his character's name was Castula.

For those of you who missed last night's episodio this is the easy link Eve in Cleveland gave us earlier this week. YouTube always cuts off before the scenes are finished but at least you'll get to see most of the action and without the commercials. Now if anybody can figure out how to find Pasión at www.TVaddictos.com let us know cuz they say nothing is cut out of their stuff.

Sorry folks that I wasn't awake enough to catch all the typos before now. At least it was 99% literate this time around! =/8?)

I know some of you think Cami is dumb and don't agree with her bargaining, but I think she shows her intelligence by always seeing the bargaining opportunity. She may be delusional about some things, but she is really just trying to keep Ric alive the only way she can.

Cami Supporter.

Jardinera,

Great recap as always. I tried to answer you on TN World, but you may not have seen it. Here is the link for the Pasion forum on Tv Adictos (which doesn't have a link off the index anymore):

http://www.tvadictos.com.mx/index.php?&&showforum=5

You do have to create an account and log in. Look for postings with a title like "Vive el capitulo 73" (Monday's show was 73 in Mexico).

Thanks for a fantastic recap, Cuzzin Dreaded Lucy Cash! With so much action, I really appreciate the detail you put into this one.

That perpetual liar, Fran said Manuela bruises came from falling--on what, her face?

Santi doesn't realize he hasn't inherited the thrown yet. Cami should have told him to butt out, she can worry about her own soul's salvation.

Justo's a hypocrite, he makes himself dizzy trying to play both sides. It seems pretty obvious by now, that the Dariens carry a spineless gene in their family. However, it was so refreshing to see that Cami might be growing a little stub of a spine. She's running out of novela time to grow a full spine, but there's always hope...

Pascal: Tks!! I was just getting ready to check in over at TN-W for your answer if I could remember where to find it. I will try the link asap. Glad to see you visit over here also. Hope you'll join the discussion more regularly, too!

Cami Supporter: I agree that last night Cami did show her innate intelligence. You're right also that she has done as much as what she has been able to in order to protect her man these past few episodes. Of course, if she didn't muck things up by making wrong moves (like all the rest of us do from time to time) and cause us a good bit of consternation at the same time, we'd be bored stiff with this show, ¿Cierto? 9;?))

Mad Bun...er...bess/susanlynn and Cheryl/NM: The only word for bonbon buns in Spanish slang that I've heard used is "pompi" as in let me pompi yewww uuhhpp!! --The old nursery rhyme that I keep playing in my brain is "Hot Crossed Buns". (as in just let those hot buns try gettin' crossed my path and see what happens!)

Susanlynn Mad Bun Woman of Cyberspace: I looked up
Duelo de Pasiones, Castulo who is played by Conrado Osorio but he does not list Pasion in any of his web listings. Take a look at Toño Mauri on sites you can find on Google searching his name. It's a stretch to superimpose the Daliesque attributes, but I think it is him.

Jardinera,

Here is the direct link to 73 on Tv Adictos:

http://www.tvadictos.com.mx/index.php?showtopic=7031

Otherwise you might want to search for "Vive capítulo" since you have to go many pages back for this episode.

Yes, I lurk here and sometimes post anonymously, but since I'm totally spoiled, I have to be careful here :-)

Pascal

It works fine, and thanks!

otherwise she’d have already zapped Lis into a toad (now, that I’d like to see!)

You and me both! Say, were they still burning witches in the eighteenth century? Because that would be a fitting end for both Lis and Grita - ironically for Lis, given her obsessionw ith them, and - well, Grita just is. -g- Everyone expects the Caray Inquisition!

Looks from the previews like there ought to be a lovely showdown tonight, if Ric's getting back!

Soooo good to understand exactly what was said....thanks for the recaps!
UUGGHH! I have had it with "holier than thou" Saintly. I'm trying to think of a fitting ending for him but I think he'll be the hero in the end (although I'd prefer it otherwise)- take over his father's position, see the light and acquit both Ric and Cami of their sins!

and all while never having to wash or comb his hair!!!!

From IMDB and Esmas--Conrado Osorio was Castulo in Duelo as someone else said but he's not listed anywhere as being in the cast of Pasion. Tono Mauri plays Gonzalo. I don't think the Pasion cast list is right. Anais is Manuela?

Tono Mauri played Don Alvaro (Claudio's evil cousin who married his mom to get his family's fortune and Claudio killed him in the middle of the crowded San Fernando plaza).

Anais plays Manuela

I'll have to take your word for it, Margaret, that Conrado Osorio plays Uriel. I haven't located a complete listing with his name and character name together.

J.R. :)

Oh, and Jardinera, thank you for another well-detailed recap. :)

My God. I can barely stop laughing at jardinera's recaps and everyone's comments. I am bent over double and my stomach HURTS. Y'all are hilarious!! Holy hell!

Eventually she and the Uriel get started doing the nasty with him with that crazy goatee and Dali hairdo looking like the mythical goat-man, Pan. LMAO! That has got to be the best quip so far this year. And you, mad maggie: Give him a lute & a horse's ass & there you go, Whoresula, he's all yours. Oh my God!

And mad bess/susanlynn is doing patty-cake. And the rest of you, just... LOL! I've gotta go recouperate.

Anais, the Dominican reggeton singer? Or is there more than one Anais? If not, that's an incredible makeup job.

I got the Tono Mauri as Gonzalo from the esmas Pasion site. It sounds like they did some switching around at the last minute of some of the characters-actors and maybe they never bothered to change the "elenco" list.

Cami won't leave Ric no way no how. Heck if I had a gorgeous man like him I sure wouldn't leave him either! A woman will say & do just about anything to get herself out of a predictament and that is exactly what Cami is doing.

I vote to add Uriel to the calendar provided he loses the goatee. He's got a rockin bod!

I love Sofia! I sure don't want to be on her s**t list that is for sure (like Cuz Liz is now).

I think Uriel is Tono Mauri, and Gonzalo is Tono Infante... the pix I've seen of Tono Mauri look like Uriel (without the fashionable hair) and I read the name Tono Infante as Gonzalo both on imbd as well as some other site...

Me again-- strange phenomenon. I found several posts of episode 73 (last Monday) on you tube-- but none of the ones I watched contained any of the footage of Uriel and Ursula? Anybody know where I can find that?

Oh-- disregard my last message-- I registered on tvaddictos and saw the missing pieces-- thanx!
