Caray, Caray!

Ahoy all, thanks for your patience in waiting for my delayed post. I discovered I'm very bad at translating business conversations, so if I have left out anything important please feel free to add or correct. I always appreciate it. Also, some of y'all's nicknames for Paula were so scathingly perfect that I had to repeat them. It felt good.



We left last night with Paula telling Ana that she is leaving to find Juan. She wants to confront him for keeping the truth from her. If her lawyer calls, tell him he can reach her on her cellular. Ana yells after her to control herself. Fat chance.

Juan remarks to Fernando (Fer) that with Cesar Luis (CL) gone they have been orphaned. He and Fer look around and see the expectant faces of all the Farell employees.

Pastor goes over the accounts with Juan. He says Juan has many important decisions to make, and by the way, how are Juan's finance studies coming along? Juan answers that Rome wasn't built in a day. Pastor asks, didn't CL go over the important decisions with Juan before he left, such as the Campeoni aquisition? Juan comments that CL dropped him like a bucket of cold water, he said nothing. Juan goes into optimist mode, pulls himself up and tells Pastor not to worry, this sort of thing is easy for him, a piece of cake.

Juanito charms Ivonne and Julia with his wide-eyed questions about his Papi's new business (Farell). Ivonne suggests he's mischievous because he got in a fight. Juanito says it was because of some girl. (I don't remember a girl, I think he's fibbing because he let himself get jumped.) Ivonne comments that he's a chip off the old block.

Pastor explains to Juan how important it was for CL to purchase Campeoni. His biggest competition in the aquisition was Don Anga. Whose side is Juan on? He said some more stuff but I didn't really understand it. Apparently my eyes glaze over at the talk of business both in English and in Spanish.

Nacho tells Yadira that Kike's proposition is the solution to their problems. Kike can have the baby while they get their finances in order; it will only be temporary. Yadi cries No No, she can't live without her baby. She sucks her thumb and pouts.

The Harpy on Jet Fuel (Paula) strides into Farell and glares at Juan. She's nice to Juanito in a perfunctory sort of way; he's polite but unimpressed. She wants to talk to Juan ALONE; they go into the Screaming Room (CL's office).

Paula lights into Juan who is all Que the hell? She blames him; he doesn't know what she's talking about. Outside the office the employees (AKA Lobby Lizards) gather outside the door to eavesdrop. Juanito scolds them, shoos them away and stands guard at the door. I fast forward through Paula's tirade. She's a shrew. Juan is confused. She insults him and calls him a hypocrite (Pharisee). "A what?" he asks. "A traitor" she yells. He still doesn't know what she's on about but he's had enough. He yells back that she's an uncontrollable hysteric, that CL didn't have the pants to confront her, is that's what's bothering her?

They argue through the commercial. Juan is stuck on the CL issue and thinks this is what's bugging his shrill princess. He reminds her that he is no longer her employee but her associate, her equal. She calls him a thief, a robber, he stabbed her in the back. He demands that she explain herself. Instead she vows that he and his friends are going to pay dearly.

Paula stomps out, arms akimbo, and runs into Pastor with some guys from Campeoni. She answers yes, she is CL's wife and therefore an owner, but if they want to talk business they'd better talk to the new boss...just be careful! She leaves and snubs Marely on her way out.

Pastor tries to scold Marely for being absent that morning but Fer runs interference and saves her. Pastor and the other two, lets call them the Brethren of the Bad Comb Overs, move on toward Juan's (CL's) office.

Fer tells Marely that none other than Juan Dominguez is in the President's office. He and Paula were sequestered and were really telling each other off. Fer adds he can tell something is bothering Marely, what's up? They are interrupted by Juanito who runs over to happily greet Marely. Ivonne gets her digs into Fer as he goes to his office.

Over at Casa Cachón Alirio tells his dear belly-friend Kike that thanks to his own big mouth Paula knows the truth about Samuel Cachón's will. Now Nidia hates him and he's going to jail.

The Brethren try to talk Campeoni business with Juan but he thought-bubbles that they make about as much sense as a poem in Japanese. Juan tells them in order to consider the probablities, possibilities, coincidences, eventualities, and incidents, he needs to be alone. After the Brethren leave he holds his head, "Chinches Bravas, dear God enlighten me!" he begs.

Instead of reviewing the Campeoni aquisition Juan wonders Que the hell was eating Paula. The only thing that's clear is that nothing at all is clear.

Pastor tells Ivonne that in regards to Farell business Juan is more lost than a rube in an insurgent (overcrowded?) metro. She hoped the company could last through the CL/Monica upheaval...but now Juan!! Pastor hopes that Juan makes the intelligent decision to leave before it's too late.

Juan decides he needs to consult someone with more business acumen than his own. He tries to call Fer on the intercom but gets Rosi first, then the warehouse. Finally he walks outside his office and whistles for Fer.

Back at Casa Cachón Alirio continues to beat himself up but Kike congratulates him on his bravery for finally telling the truth. He agrees to accompany Alirio to his appointment with Justice.

Juan uses one of CL's phallic statues as a backscratcher and tells Fer he's the only one who can help him. "Ah, the Campeoni Proposal," observes Fer, seeing the pile of binders on Juan's desk, "What's the problem?" Juan admits he doesn't know what to do.

Inside the basement "office" Pastor tells Heriberto that none other than Juan Dominguez has taken over the reins of Farell Industries. Heriberto asks is that good or bad? Pastor answers that he doesn't know, but the entire staff is terrified.

Juan tells Fer that he was talking to a person who knows a lot about the issues of market movement. "Don Anga, right?" asks Fer. No, continues Juan, this man knows about economics, history, everything, he is a licenciado of know-it-all-ology, and this gentleman alerted Juan that if a business sells itself as the last wonder of the world, one should find out why would they sell it if it's so good? (Who is this gentleman? Is he from Juan's finance TV show or book?) Fer asks does Juan think something is twisted or wrong with Campeoni? No, Juan is only suspicious that there is something suspicious. He suggests they check over the paperwork carefully before he puts his foot in it. Fer says he's up for it, but there is someone else who is very familiar with the paperwork, very intelligent, and she's right outside the door. He instructs Juan on how to call Marely on the intercom.

As Marely heads for Juan's office she and Ivonne throw insulting barbs at one another. Marely gets the last word, that Ivonne should know what it's like to be used by the boss then tossed aside. Ivonne snarls and crumples up her notepaper.

Juan tells Marely he needs her for two things. The second thing is this Campeoni paperwork. "And the first?" she asks. Juan asks does she have any idea what fly was biting Paula? She came looking for him like a panther, she insulted him with a mountain of accusations. He didn't have the remotest idea what she was talking about. Can Marely clue him in? Marely asks to speak to Juan alone.

Marely tearfully tells Juan that Delirio told Paula the truth about Samuel's will, that Nidia stole the inheritance that Samuel left for Paula. Juan is muy, pero muy impactado.

Paula goes on a tirade to Ana that Juan didn't have the pants to admit that he was the front man (!?!) in the Cachón's dirty dealings. (Oh, so now Juan is the front man? My how her pea brain does twist things!) Ana asks shouldn't they be sure before they go around flinging accusations? She (Ana) tried to call Nidia but got no answer. Paula's not surprised that the pair of them won't answer. They want to escape and Paula won't stand with crossed arms. No, she's going to destroy them. She angrily calls her lawyer and leaves an urgent message.

Marely tells Juan that Paula was the sole inheritor. She fills him in on the details. Juan is still impactado. How could Nidia be so materialistic? He says this explains much of Samuel's last day. Marely agrees that her father must have been trying to compensate for not giving Paula his name. Now Paula thinks they are all accomplices in the plan. Juan decides he must go to Paula and immediately clear things up. Marely hopes Paula will listen to him.

Juan speedwalks out of Farell. Heriberto tries to stop him to discuss his career path but Juan gives him the bum's rush. Later Heriberto! Hasta mañana.

Kike can't find a place to park his truck so he drops Alirio off in front of the police station. Alirio dramatiacally states that he should take his last steps as a free man...alone. Kike is afraid Alirio will chicken out but Alirio assures him he must do this to save his soul. Please tell Nidia he did it for love.

Heriberto tells Pastor that Juan wouldn't take the time to talk to him about his career. He consoles himself by taking a coffee break with the sympathetic Don Pastor.

Alirio tries to confess at the police station but the desk sergeant thinks he's drunk. Alirio assures him he's not drunk, he's come to make an admission. They are interrupted by a noisy woman brandishing her umbrella and escorted by two cops. She denies stealing girdles at the market. She whaps Alirio with her umbrella as they drag her off. The desk sergeant, weary of Alirio's blathering confession of betraying his wife, tells Alirio to go home and ask his mujer for forgiveness. Please leave now, he's harried; he kicks Alirio out and calls for the next citizen. In the background the cops pull red underwear out of the umbrella lady's bags.

Juanito and Marely are ready for Fernando to drive them home. Juanito asks her is she sad because of what Paula told his papa? Marely tries to explain that Nidia did something very bad and Juan accidentally got mixed up in it. She's too ashamed to tell Juanito what it is but she feels responsible. Why? Because it affects other people. Juanito asks, did Marely do bad, yes or no? Marely supposes no. Then Juanito doesn't understand why she feels at fault. "You're good and my papa knows it!" he insists. Marely sweetly tells him how much his words mean to her. They leave with Fernando and his armful of Campeoni paperwork.

Paula's tea party for one is interrupted by the doorbell. It's Juan. She screams that she has nothing to say to him! Juan angrily insists he has something to say to her and she's going to listen. She threatens to call the police. She says she won't listen. "That's why I'm here," he points out, "because you have the wrong idea!"

Ana runs downstairs, what's the commotion? Juan tells her he's come to say something and he's not leaving until he says it. Ana suggests that now is not the best time as her daughter is out of sorts. "No Señora," Juan insists, "your stubborn daughter will listen to me, because although she yells, bellows and throws a hissy fit, I'm not moving from here until I show her she's mistaken!"
