Pasion April 22, 2008 "al diablo con los diablos"

EPISODE 92:
* Santo is leaving Ofelia and Ana at the gate - he is going to the mansion to visit Jorge. Ana cries as Santo leaves. Ofelia does her best to calm the little girl; Jimena finishes getting water from the well and goes inside to clean Ascanio's room.

* In the room, Jimena starts to search and search and search through everything. She gets to the desk. She shakes the table top and something falls from behind to the floor. Jimena grumbles about not being able to read as she looks at the papers in the leather folder.

* Luis helps Alberto put on his peg leg. Alberto grimaces as he tries to stand up on it and the crutches. He grumbles at Luis as he falls back to the bed. Luis helps Alberto up and follows Alberto hobble into the hallway.

* Manuela stands still as Alberto mumbles about Ascanio receiving the note but not coming to visit Alberto yet. Alberto tells Manuela to get Ascanio to come to the house or she will regret it.

* Jorge and Santo are in a meeting in the mansion office. Jorge mentions Rico which gets Santo's dander all tied into knots again. They turn their conversation to how Alberto's doing with his peg leg, and then about Santo's godson Pedro and the cover story that Lisabeta has been telling around town.

* Ines, Cami and Conchita are at the town market. Conchita is anxious about having her son back again and worried about Rico coming through on his promise. Cami assures her everything will work out, be patient. They walk away from the market and Cami asks about the father of Conchita's baby. Conchita tells her he was an ungrateful louse who didn't live up to his commitment. She wishes she had a husband like Cami's. Cami and Ines walk her to the church.

* Lis and Fran talk in the salon as Lis holds little Pedro. Alberto enters and spots the baby and asks what is going on? Lis gets scared and calls Candida over to take Pedro outside to the street for awhile. Candida high-tails it out of there with Pedro. Alberto grumbles into Lis' ear about defying and lying to him about Pedro. Lis spouts off that she can't let her nephew go. Alberto thinks she's lying and crazy. Lis says it's true, Pedro is Rico's son. Alberto goes ballistic. Lis counter attacks with Fran's observations of him, Uriel and Mateo leaving the other night to attack the caravan. Lis is prepared to go to the authorities with the information unless he gives in to her keeping Pedro there at the house - his life is in her wicked little blind hands. She cackles. Alberto swings his mighty crutch and it hits her in the backside. Alberto and Lis both fall on the ground. Alberto calls loudly for Luis to help him. Fran stays beside Lis. They exchange another round of threats. Alberto and Luis leave for the bedrooms again. Lis cries. Fran wonders what to do now? Alberto has a miserable temper. Lis and Fran talk of escaping - but to where? asks Fran. Lis says I don't know, La Mariana, Veracruz, wherever. Fran asks how? What money? Lis has a light-bulb moment and knows what to do.

* In the bedroom, Luis struggles to take the peg leg suction cup off Alberto's leg. Alberto grunts as it comes off. Luis places it on the bed as Lis enters the room. Luis leaves. Lis stands by the bed and apologizes for lying to him about Pedro. Alberto listens. Lis tries to blame the idea on Fran, but Alberto doesn't buy it. Lis agrees to send Fran, Candida and Pedro to live at Cami's old place. Alberto agrees to the plan - if they deceive him again, they die. Lis understands. He tells her to start sleeping in his bed, and says just because he lost an eye and leg, he is still a man and wants to have children with her. She is forced to agree. He starts to kiss and grope her.

* Ascanio is working in his office. Nana enters with a letter from Manuela. Nana waits as Ascanio reads the letter - Manuela writes him to come to the house and meet with her father to formally acknowledge the engagement and marriage. Ascanio writes his response on how he loves her and doesn't want to sacrifice their love or his conscience and dignity for the sake of keeping quiet for Jorge and Alberto's benefit. Ascanio finishes, folds and seals the letter and gives it to Nana. Nana tells him that Manuela will meet him tomorrow at their usual spot in the park. She leaves.

* Colonel visits with Jorge, Santo, Ursula, Sofia and Fortunata at the mansion salon. Ursula and Fortunata ask Colonel about his father, who was a Colonel also. As Fortunata starts to ask questions about Colonel's brother who disappeared from the family, Sofia stops the conversation. Jorge turns the talk towards politics - the end of the war with Britain.

* In the bedroom, Lis explains to Fran her plan. Fran will live with Pedro at Cami's house. Lis will secretly send them money. When the time is right, Lis will join them at the house and they will runaway together for Veracruz.

* As Santo and Sofia talk about how much Ana Maria is growing and Tita is dancing with her Nana, Colonel and Ursula walk to a quiet corner for a private conversation. Colonel asks her why she lied about when they left Puerto Paraiso. Ursula says that was Sofia's decision - it was to cover up for Cami and her lover, the pirate known as Antillano. Colonel is very intrigued. Ursula tells him about the gossip that Antillano may have had something to do with the caravan assaults also. Ursula asks him about his investigation and if he has other suspects. He only says that he will be conducting a thorough investigation of the matter. The mansion guard interrupts to tell Colonel he has an important messenger at the door. Colonel excuses himself. At the door, Captain tells Colonel that Don Gaspar has requested an urgent meeting right now with him - Colonel is reluctant to leave but Captain says he has to meet with Don Gaspar now. Colonel makes his formal excuses and leaves. Jorge is curious about this urgent business - the guard doesn't have any specific information.

* At the church steps, Cami is seated. Ines and Conchita are next to one of the carts. Ines spots Candida walking Pedro into the square and whispers and points her out to Cami. Cami is excited and tells Ines to keep Conchita distracted. Cami runs out to greet Candida in the square. Cami holds and kisses Pedro (AW!) as she talks with Candida about the baby's mild demeanor and that Lis is taking excellent care of him. Conchita and Ines are across the plaza - Conchita sees Cami with Pedro and goes crazy. Conchita runs over and tries to take Pedro from Cami. As Conchita screams for them to give her son to her, Cami and Ines hold Conchita back as Candida takes Pedro away.

* On the beach, Auxiliadora washes her hair. Rico stuns her by yelling "Where in the devil did you take my son?!?!?" Rico walks towards her and asks her where is his son? what did she tell Cami and Conchita? Did she tell the wrong person that her son was dead? Auxiliadora has no choice but to tell the truth - Rico has a firm grip on her arms.

* Cami comes down to the yard to talk with Ines, she left Conchita in the room to calm down. They need to be more careful with Conchita from now on. Cami hopes Rico has found Auxiliadora by now. They discuss the possibility of Jimena, Ascanio and Vasco finding something, anything to help them also.

* In the room, Don Gaspar is furious with Colonel Jose Maria, another of his godsons, for not abiding by the orders and letting Rico go free when he knew who he was. Colonel knows about the orders, but he says with Rico there are extenuating circumstances being considered in his remaining under arrest. Colonel tells Don Gaspar about Ursula's accusations of Rico being part of the attack on Puerto Paraiso; as well Rico told him about some papers that will officially link Alberto to the caravan assaults. Don Gaspar is intrigued.

* Ursula is reading her poetry in her room. Jorge enters and grumbles about the sad state of affairs he is in right now. Ursula tries to cheer him up and reminds him about mom's birthday. Ursula thinks they should have a huge surprise party for her. Jorge thinks they should just have something small with family only. Ursula agrees. Jorge looks at her and says he wants her to marry someone honest and caring. He leaves.

* In the courtyard, Ursula and Fortunata talk about the surprise birthday dinner for Sofia, and they will probably have to invite Santo.

* Ascanio reads Manuela's latest letter in his office. She cries as she writes the words, begging him to reconsider and just meet with her father. She reminds him that they will see each other tomorrow.

* Paco runs upstairs and yells for Cami. As Paco brings Cami down to the yard, Don Gaspar is helped out of his coach. Don Gaspar wants to talk to her about Rico. Paco says his uncle left awhile ago and he hasn't seen him since. Don Gaspar wonders about Cami. Cami gulps and says she has seen Rico.

* In the salon, Don Gaspar tells Cami he needs her to tell him everything she knows about Rico and where he may be now. Cami looks at Justo and then kneels and starts to confess everything from the moment of her son's birth when she heard the baby's cry and everyone was telling her he was dead - everyone but Rico that is.

* As they get settled back in Cami's house, Lis and Fran start to argue about the plan. Fran raises her voice too loud and it scares little Pedro. Pedro starts to cry and Lis has to console him - saying his great aunt is a horrible person.

* Cami continues telling her confession about why Rico escaped from the prison - he had to locate Auxiliadora the midwife. Don Gaspar tells Cami and Justo that when Rico returns, they are to advise him as soon as possible. Don Gaspar explains that Spain has sent down the edict that all pirates have been pardoned. Justo and Cami are pleased, Rico is free. Don Gaspar then talks with Cami about the important papers Rico had sent for that show Alberto's role in the caravan assaults. Cami says that Mario will be the one who will bring them. Don Gaspar will also help.

* In her bedroom, Nana brings Manuela the news that Ascanio has arrived at the house to speak with Alberto.

* In the office, Alberto looks at his papers and food as Ascanio enters and stands at the desk. Alberto says he has permission to marry Manuela, but there will be no dowry or money or nothing. Ascanio doesn't care about that, only that he and Manuela love each other. Alberto laughs. Ascanio repeats and adds that he will marry Manuela for love and not in exchange for his silence. Alberto goes ballistic and tries to order Ascanio to sign the contract and agree to the terms. Ascanio puts his foot down and adamantly refuses. Alberto goes crazy and threatens Ascanio's life.

* Ascanio finds Manuela in her room and tells her that Alberto has lost all sense of reason, he has to escape for a few days and will return soon. He kisses her and leaves quickly. Alberto enters the room and corners Manuela. She's nervous as he spouts off that she will be sent to the convent for the rest of her life.

* Conchita is playing catch with Paco near the well. Rico rides up with Auxiliadora. As they dismount, Paco runs around to the yard and greets Rico. Paco starts to babble on to Uncle Rico as Conchita spots Auxiliadora and runs over to choke her and get her to tell the truth about her son. Cami and Ines have to run out and hold Conchita back. Justo pushes Auxiliadora towards the house. Cami asks Paco to go with Grandpa. She and Rico hug. They walk to the dining hall to talk. Paco and Justo join them.

* Ascanio and Manuela meet at their designated special park bench by the lake. They talk about Ascanio refusing to sign the marriage contract. Ascanio is really frustrated, he knows the right thing to do but if he does some people he cares about will be hurt. Manuela asks, if that has to do with her and Santo? Ascanio says yes. Manuela tells him to go ahead and do what he needs to do, don't worry about her. They hug.

* Rico has lunch as he talks with Cami and Justo - he will deal with his own situation and Don Gaspar later, first he needs to take care of Auxiliadora and Conchita and find their son. Justo apologizes to Rico. Rico listens and says that's not really needed, it's all past history now. Justo has tears in his eyes. Cami does as well.

* Cami and Rico lead Justo, Conchita, Auxiliadora and the farm hand on the walk towards town. Cami and Rico discuss Auxiliadora and Conchita's declarations; Cami tells Rico that Lis has a baby boy and she had it baptized Pedro, after Rico's dad. Auxiliadora has to be restrained by the farm hand so she can't escape. Cami tells Rico how it felt to hold Pedro in her arms in the square. Rico tells her that they will get him back, pase lo que pase (no matter what).

* As Cami, Rico and the group round the corner into town, Cami and Rico continue to talk about the declarations. Ascanio is excited to greet Rico back in town again. Rico explains they are on their way to see Don Eustaquio in the municipal building. It's so Auxiliadora and Conchita can give their testimonies about which baby died, theirs or Conchita's. Ascanio volunteers to escort them inside the building.

* In front of Don Eustaquio in the chambers, Auxiliadora starts to give her declaration about the births. Conchita yells her objection and starts to argue from her own point of view. Ascanio has to hold Conchita back really tightly. The ladies argue. Rico has to calm both of them down. Rico tells Don Eustaquio about Lis having his son baptized with his father's name (Pedro de Salamanca).

* Jorge and Santo meet again in the office. This time, Santo is inquiring about when the market will return to Justo's family. Jorge says be patient, he has to meet with Uriel's family first. Don Eustaquio enters to talk with Jorge about the meeting he just had with Justo, Cami and Rico. Santo is livid with the knowledge that Rico is back in town. Don Eustaquio explains that Spain has actually sent down the edict granting full pardons to Rico and the other pirates. Santo is furious. Jorge tells him to shut up and let Don Eustaquio continue. Don Eustaquio tells them about the declarations of Auxiliadora and Conchita in regards to the birth Lis and Santo's godson.

* Rico arrives at the front door and asks Luis to speak with Alberto now. Luis replies and walks him inside.

* In the salon, Lis asks who is it? Rico announces himself. He has to grab her as she faints from impactado. Lis cries how she missed him and thought he was dead. It's a miracle! she declares. As she tries to hug him, Rico says he's there to speak with her husband and holds her back. Lis tells Luis that she will meet with Rico instead, don't bother Alberto. Rico pressures her about why she baptized his son, Pedro de Salamanca. She says it was a tribute to him. He asks her about why she's nervous. She says she's just excited to see him again. He asks where his son is, she says not here, they're with Fran at the other house - go and see if you don't believe me. She goes in for a hug, but he holds her back and says he's going to visit her husband. He leaves down the hall. She follows calling "Rico! Rico!"

* Rico enters Alberto's bedroom and locks the door behind him. Lis is locked out and attempts to eavesdrop on the conversation inside. Alberto sits up in bed. Rico assures him that he isn't going to kill him now. He makes a pact the incriminating letters from Molinar Pastor in exchange for his son. Alberto says they will make the exchange in a public place - Rico agrees and says the condition is, if Lis finds out any of this, the deal is off.

* As Rico unlocks the door and leaves, Lis stands off to the side as he passes by and pushes her over to the other side of the hallway without any word. Lis chases him out to the salon but Rico doesn't stop. Lis walks into Alberto's room and over to the bed. She demands and grabs him to force him to tell her what they talked about. Alberto grunts, shoves Lis across the room and into the table, crashing her and the silver to the floor. Alberto takes another swig from his medicine bottle.

* Jorge and Santo have an argument about Rico being set free. Santo says Jorge has to do something to keep Rico in jail. Jorge explains again about Colonel's orders and the pardons from Spain. Santo is still really upset (he's having a really crappy day.)

* Out on the street, Rico rides up to Santo. Santo confronts Rico about receiving his pardon; however Santo won't forgive him so easily about lying and turning Cami into his pirate wench. Rico dismounts. They argue and get into a fist fight. Rico holds his dagger up to Santo's neck, demanding Santo take that back. Santo dares Rico to kill him, then Cami will hate him forever. Rico refuses and says if it turns out that his and Cami's son did die, Santo will be the biggest loser of all. Rico leaves. Santo makes his best "Oh Crap!" face.

ADVANCE: Alberto is desperate to find Lis.

Programming notes: don't forget 'la Pasion de Cristina' on Monday night; then on May 4 Univision will air the TVyNovela awards 2008.

Boy, swift and sweet recap. Gracias capitana for your faithful funniness and most grand adventures. Tonight struck me as contrast-- What a contrast watching La Font's reactions to the wife's lame attempt to buy his silence with that of Ricardo. Anything that starts with "don't worry I won't kill you..." Great scene with Ricardo and the Santucho -- I wish I had taped it --after rolling around on the ground, and Santouch's attempt to provoke death by pirate Ric, Ric said something deep like "when you lose a woman like her, you are lost." Who hurts more, the bellowing walrus LaFont or Santouch cut to the soul?

V.V.

Thanks for the great recap JR. I hope you have a relaxing summer and that you will be a recapper in the near future.

It was a great episode. Again thanks for clarifying the details I missed. Loved Sancti getting smacked by Ric. So happy Don Gaspar is in town. My guess is our favorite pseudo villain, Jorge, will die is his sleep very soon (kind of akin to the death's of Luis's cousin and "mother" in Alborada). Que lastima. Its been a great ride.

Congratulations Capitana JR What a lovely finish. Thank you for your clear and faithful renderings so well written and witty. I know these last few episodes have been so difficult with so many details to catch for all of us, viewers included. Real knuckle biting stuff.

I wanted to make the same offer to you that I am making to all of the Pasion recapers, that is to send me parting comments to add to the end of the final recap Friday night. cherylnewmex@gmail.com.

I thought one of LaFont's big contrasts tonight was that he actually smiled at Ascanio at first in what looked friendly. On second thought it might have been 100% sneer. Wow, they are really making us hang in there to get baby Pedro to his rightful parents. At least Camila got to hold him and kiss him tonight and she could relate to Ric that he has his papa's eyes. And now LaFont knows the truth of the baby's heritage. This group doesn't keep secrets any better than the Juan Querendon cast of characters. Loose lips sink ships... More fun Wednesday night. Adios.

Fare thee well, Capitana! And don't do anything our good friends from San Fernando wouldn't (so you've still got lots of options)!

I was thinking during the recap about how nervous Mannie looked when her Dad popped up on the crutches - "Yep, I'd stay out of reach, too. I wouldn't put it past him to take a swing with those." And look at that. I was right!

he is still a man - We can fix that. Just because your crew of backalley vets don't know how to get a neutering done...

You get the idea that when Cami found out about the pardons, she wanted nothing more in the world to fling herself at the good father and couldn't figure out a way for it to be proper?

And now, A Brief History of Recent Events: Alberto loses eye. Alberto loses leg. Alberto loses crutch, but lurches bravely on anyway. "It's only a flesh wound!"

I like Conchita! Who else can we set her loose on?

And now, A Brief History of Even More Recent Events: Alberto gets a visitor. Alberto needs new pants.

"Da-ad! They're letting Ric go! You have to do something!" "So...you'd like me to be dishonest and abuse my power? Son! Welcome to the family!" "...shut up."

Ric, Ric, Ric. Santi's already the biggest loser!

Hm... Do I sense more riding accidents in the near future? One can only hope!

Ric is not a free man. There is Ursula's testimony about what happened in Puerto Paraiso. Colonel said that to Don Gaspar and Don Gaspar to Camila and Justo. But Don Gaspar hopes that with the letters of Molinar Pastor he could help Ric.

Capitana, thank you so much for your scores of excellent recaps! Come back to us soon!

Capitana JR: Thank you for your faithful recaps. This was a particularly spectacular episode, and you did a wonderful job of relating it to us.

From lower Ala

Capitana J.R. - thank you for the splendid recap. It was indeed a pleasure!

Oh, what a great episode! I am so happy that Ric found Auxi and that she confessed everything. It was also a pleasure to see Ric with Cami. The only thing I can't understand is why Lis told LaFont that Pedro was Ric's child.

I know that Liz is a very bad person but I just don't like that LaFont thrashes her. She 's a blind woman but even if she wasn't blind, no man has the right to slap a woman no matter how evil she is. The only one who should beat her is Cami and she would have every right to do it but it's never gonna happen.

Where's Claudio?? He's so sweet...It's a pity that he hasn't come yet.

I like the plot with Colonel's brother. I am intrigued!!

Thanks, JR, for this recap and ALL your prompt, detailed recaps of this novela. I have to get to work , but I must make a few quick comments. First, let's do the math on Lafont : one eye, one leg...but...still a dirty , horrible old man. We all knew that Lis was going to get hit with one of those crutches, didn't we ? However, that groping and kissing scene really was satisfying. Brace yourself, Lis because here comes more karma. Getting back in that bed is punishment enough for Lis, I think. I was proud that Ric did not allow Lis much feeling-up time . Ric, Ric, Ric just never disappoints. And, Ric finds the midwife !!!Can you imagine doing some early morning washing up by the sea and looking up to see Ric motorng down the beach wearing that determined look and headed right for you ??? Payback is a ...well you know. And Ric's words to Saintly were right on. I liked watching them mix it up. Saintly, be very grateful that Ric has a mighty sense of control. If he were most hombres , you would be looong gooone by now. Well, JR, enjoy your summer [I will be teaching all summer.] ...And thanks for your dedicated work here. I appreciate the time and effort that you devoted each week to provide us with fast and accurate translations of this wonderful show. Adios. amiga. Only 3 more episodes and one Cristina to go. Sniff.

Perhaps we could have a Conchita-Lisabeta smackdown? sounds about right ....

Ricardo has seen Lisabeta's true character and he's not cutting her any slack - he's lost any affection he may have had for her and isn't accepting any excuses.

Loved the scenes with Auxiliadora trying to slip away and being yanked back!

Loved Santiago and Ricardo fighting - at last those two, however briefly, went mano a mano (or mano a cuchillo). Very glad Ricardo didn't use the dagger - Santiago needs to know what he's done to Camila!

Does Don Gaspar, the archbishop, count as a deus ex machina?

And thank you, capitana j.r. and all the other recappers - thank you for clearing up the bits I missed and the occasional snark.

Toddson

Thanks J.R. I hope your summer vacation is delightful.

Jorhey has realized his errors, but I fear it is too late for him.

Ascanio is so impressive-- brave, smart and loyal. He's like Ric, but in a different flavor.

That reminds me, I miss MMM Mario, sigh...
jb-Iron Jack Cash

I missed the scene with the midwife and Ric but I thought she still hadn't admitted which child was which last night. Great recap and thank you for the past ones.mhm

Heck yeah I'm all for a Conchita-Cuz Liz no holds barred smackdown!

Wait til Auntie Fran gets wind that Ric is back. Think Cuz Liz was nervous?

Hhmmmm...I wonder if Mario is the colonel's brother that he said had disappeared?

I wouldn't take anything Ursula said to the colonel with a grain of salt. Notice she didn't mention anything about Foreman taking part in the raid only Ric? But I thought it was a sweet moment between her & Jorge. Too bad we didn't get more of that.

Still waiting on the Mario-Jimena reunion. And a Claudio appearance.

I'll be sure to email you CherylNewMex after Friday's finale & before the Stars/Sharks hockey game (which will start afterwards. It's Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoff. GO STARS!!)

Big thanks to Capitana J.R. for dedicated work and now - have a great summertime!
As everybody else I liked this full of interesting development episode.
Ascanio opened his cards to Manuela with his doubts that she shoudn't be to be married to the guy who put her dad to death. And this smart girl - wow, I even didn't think of it this way - said that it's not Ascanio who desides the future of criminals but authorities so he shouldn't be worried about that. It's a lot of weight off him!
And who can forget the how cool was Ric meeting his cuz - he was in complete control, lost all his compassion to the "poor, abused blind child" that he always had and that was actually blinding him from seeing real Liz. It was really nice cold shoulder for her. And Bouffy's invitation for making kids right after that - it was just blah... but well deserved by his "lovely" wife.

I also missed the admition of the Auxi that it actually was Ric's baby.

Eve from Cleveland

Auxi hasn't admitted to anything yet. Only that one baby did die.

And I thougth that Liz told Ric her cover story about Pedro. She never said it was his baby, it was the orphan from the servant...That's why he went straight to LaFont.

Thanks for the great recap, JR.....also many thanks to all the recappers who have done an excellent job throughout this great novela!!!!

Anvils falling everywhere in this show! The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together and I can't wait for tonight's show to see what else comes to light!

Where, oh where is MMMario and when will we see him again? Ascanio is so noble and Santi finally got an attitide adjustment by Ric!!! As for Lis, we all know she will get what she deserves...whatever that is....also Bouffy!

Hate this show to end! :(

Captitana JR: muchas gracias! Lots of action, once again & I just can't keep up w/ the dialogue...thanks for the details!

LisaBUTTa looked like she was going to toss her cookies when LaBouf put his suave moves on her. Ewww...that is some nasty karma smacking her. LaBouf does remind me of the knight in Monty Python's classic Holy Grail--"it's only a flesh wound"--LOL! When they finally hang the bugger, he'll be down to a torso! (no, I don't know how he'll get his comeuppance...I'm just fantasizing)

Ric vs. Saintly-no contest there! But Ric, honey, please see a barber. The ratty hair isn't overly attractive--look at Saintly.

Ascanio just keeps getting better & better, doesn't he? Can we recast the upcoming Bloody Fire telenovela & put Ascanio & Mario in there?

I'm already suffering from Pasion withdrawal...sniff sniff.

:-(

J.R., thanks for all the wonderful recaps! I hope you have a great summer

I confess I accidentally saw what happens to Bouffy on youtube a while back. Suffice to say when it happens, it will provoke a lot of comments here! ;-)

I don't understand why Ric has to barter with Bouffy for the kid. I mean, they kidnapped him, why does he have to exchange something for him? Why not just call the cops?

Still lots of stuff to wrap up, and only three hours to do it in!

Susanna J.

Notice Ric bartered the papers from Pastor, but he didn't say he wouldn't turn Bouffy in. Ric still has his ace in the hole, the papers Ascanio found. I think he plans to use that to hang Bouffy's remaining torso instead. I think he bartered for the baby to motivate Bouffy to keep Pedro safe and make sure Pedro doesn't have a riding accident.

Regarding Ursula's testimony against Ric in PortP, I think when Foreman stops by San Fernando on his way to his new New Orleans estate, Ursula will choose to have amnesia about everything she witnessed the attackers do.

No, I don't think Don Gaspar, counts as a deus ex machina, since his story line was established very early on.

This latest twist does seem machina-esque since it's happening at the last minute, but in retrospect, it makes sense that he'd have involved the military, so it doesn't feel like a cheat at all.

If this had been some other telenovela, however, the Colonel and Gaspar wouldn't have showed up until 9:55 this Thursday night. And then Ric would be saying "oh, didn't I tell you, my godfather's a cardinal (or archbishop, or whatever) who's connected to the King? It totally slipped my mind!"

Oh and about Ursula's hair: after seeing it from the side last night, I realized that it really does look like a bow. Funny. From the front, it still looks like little she-devil horns. :)

Ric, trust the authorities in SF to get his kid back? The same authorities that have wanted to rape his wife and make her a slave? I'm sure he thinks bargaining with LaFont is safer, plus it will give LaFont a reason to keep Pedro safe and keep Liz from running away with the baby.

Speaking of Santo the godfather, he's not been paying much attention to his daughter and I don't think he's even seen his 'godson' since the baptism. He use to have time for loving Paco.
Sanki looked to me like he was getting a clue. If he finds out he is godfather to Ric's baby would he spend more time, take him for the weekend, have little pirate sprout out to the park so Camilla picks them up there? Papa AND moma don't like him! Got to undo this situation with crazy godmother AND crazy mad godfather.

It seems to me if the child was not rightfully registered by a legal guardian then that baptism is void. Example, the marriage issue.

cpt.Bonnie Morgan, I like this idea of Pedrito spending time in a park with his loving god father! LOL

Eve from Cleveland

Auxiliadora has not admitted to switching the children yet.

Ascanio told Manuela to get ready to escape with him in a couple of days. Not, that he would escape alone.

Didn’t any body notice the way Fortunata and Jose Maria’s right hand guy were looking at each other? So, maybe Fortunata would get some before the novella ends.

Why is Mario taking so long to come back? It’s getting nerve wrecking waiting for him to appear again.

What’s there any reason why Ursula had to mention Ricardo being in Puerto Paraiso? I guess we need some more drama in the last capitulos. Yes, Ursula’s hair is a bow, it really looks like horns.

Ursula reading and writing a book that's not pornographic. She's broadening her mind I do say!

And a couple of times now MMMario and Jemena have verbalized their need to learn to read. :-} Now who's going to end up being teacher to this entertaining couple? Did you hear the catch in Jemena's voice when she was calling Ascanio.ooo. tiburoncito (sp)?

I assume Ursula mentioned Ric being in P.P. because she's still sore about him turning her down. :)

I didn't see the book Ursula was reading - are we sure it wasn't raunchy poetry?

I think Mario and Jimena should have a sequel telenovela. They can learn to read while battling zombies, or space aliens, or something...

LisBUTT called Pedrito her "sobrino" or nephew, but actually he is her "primo" or cousin once removed or maybe "primo secundo" (second cousin)?

What is the correct Spanish word for ones relationship to the child of a first cousin?

In the real world, wouldn't Rico just romp on over to Camila's former digs, kick Tia Fran's ass and take his kid back home to mama?

Thank you Capitana J.R. for another awesome recap. Ric may have been pardoned but he still has the assault at Puerto Paraiso and Jorge, LaFont, and now Ursula trying to link him to the caravan robberies over his head. Hopefully those documents that Jimena found she will be able to somehow give to Camila to give to Don Gaspar to help Ric so he still doesn't go to the gallows. Loved the physical and verbal smackdown Ric gave to Sancti. It was about time. Sancti can't get it through his thick head of the pain he caused Camila when he caused her to go into premature labor which helped Auxi to be able to switch her baby with Conchita's. I also loved how Ric gave Lis the surprise of her life and she knows that she's in hot water now because of her kidnapping his son. I think both Ric and Camila are now sure that Pedro is their son. Also loved how Ric was nice but blunt to Justo. Ric may forgive but he'll never forget the role Justo played in causing Camila pain. So much happening and it's only a few more shows to go before the grand finale. This is definitely a rollercoaster ride and I'm enjoying ever last minute of it.

Hey, you're right. He's not her nephew at all! Que the hell??

Wait... this is Lis we're talking about. She's delusional! I'm surprised she didn't say he was her son!

I'm sure Ric would love to just take his baby, but he has enough sense not to publicly override Conchita's legally plausible claim that the child is hers.

Only Auxi can truly answer this question. Lis and Fran can say that they paid off Auxi for the baby, but that doesn't prove anything - Auxi would have given them Conchita's baby if it had survived instead of Camila's, and they'd never have known the difference.

And Auxi can't talk, because if she does, it might come out about that OTHER deal she made... the one with Lafont. That would get her killed for sure.

On the other hand, if she's dying anyway, she might find it easier to tell the truth. Maybe she'll have an accident!

By the way, JR, I loved the title :)

Thank you for clarifing that Auxi hasn't confessed to having switched the babies. I misunderstood : )

BTW, J.R. - very smart title!

That apology of Justo's looked heartfelt and Ricardo's acceptance looked sincere but, Ricardo continued his eating for energy actions. His lack of eye contact also seemed to say I love your daughter but you, not so much.
Ricardo is right, of course. Justo is a 'weak link' relative; can't count on him.

Oo.oooul, Ursula as literacy teacher? using her raunchy poetry book! That could make class sizes too large. Especially with the recently pardoned needing retraining for the workforce. Yep, there's a sequel there. But I LOVE this costume period!

Jorge's guilt and death needs to be something that does not socially injure Sophia. I can't imagine (for real imagine) how that can happen.

Oh also wanted to comment when Conchita mentioned she wished she had a husband like Ric I was saying "me too" LOL. I want a man like Ric too who'll love me and be devoted to me like he is to Camila. Swoon.

I don't know if it's possible to socially injure Sofia. Everyone in SF knows that she is a saint who is married to a, let's just say, less than perfect man.

If his previous hijinx - i.e. raping women, taking away family businesses, and abusing power in all sorts of other ways - did not hurt her, then his being prosecuted for serious crimes probably won't hurt her either. Especially if he can die of natural (or natural-looking) causes first.

Ursula running away to live with a pirate won't reflect well on Sofia, if that happens, but then, Ursula's already a well-known tramp, so again I don't see any possibility of further damage to Sofia's rep.

I don't know what Sofia will do without Jorge, though. Join a convent? Live with Fortunata and the Colonel (I really hope those two get together)?

About Ursula.
So far she was self absorbed egoistic b-ch who is a lousy mother, unstoppable "ramera", tried to blackmail Manuela ( looking for Foreman's address), always laughs at peoples shortcomings and finally - sold out Ric to the colonel.
Here we had sweet daughter who reads (or writes) poetry, has compassion for her dear daddy and planning very nice fiesta in honor of her mother. I actually liked the scene with Jorge!
Hmm, I think writers decided to add some pink color to the existing painting.

Eve from Cleveland

I also thought Auxi was denying in the judge's presence that she even knew a Conchita. I didn't think she told Ricardo.

Ascanio.ooo looked like the moral, ethical giant he is when he went into Al's office. And ssssnatch ing that crutch away from the sneering broken man was such an excellent scene. The face off silent seconds between them left no doubt in me that Al was seeing his nemisis. And the honest man he SAID he wanted for Manuela is his nemesis.

Was wondering if it was in the script for Lis to grope Ric every time she's in the same room with him. If I were that actress I certainly would have added that business all on my own!

Auxiliadora hasn't admitted taking any babies and is still trying to get away with it, but the way she cowers every time she looks at Ric, seems like the judge must be aware of her guilt.

Watched the scene with Santiago and Ric multiple times! Fernando is magisterial when he tells someone off. It's not the first time he told him that he himself would have searched tierra y mar for Camila instead of marrying her sister. And the delusional Santi thinks she'd hate Ric if he cut his throat! And Ric got the last word on that one as well.

Madd Maggie: "... When they finally hang the bugger, he'll be down to a torso! and "...Can we recast the upcoming Bloody Fire telenovela & put Ascanio & Mario in there?" My belly jumpin' silent laughter is rising to my shoulders jumpin' hand over mouth stiffling appearance!
If a smile is contageous this blog is infecting my workplace, for sure!

I don't know about Ascanio o o o but MMM with a completely new look is in Alma de Hierro who replaced Pasión in Mexico.

If Ricardo said to Camilla, I had to do it he left me no choice, Camilla would probably say 'Oh'! I trust you when's the velario? THAT STUBBORN IDIOT still does not think outside his own boxed self.
No he doesn't feel guilty about having caused the baby's death and almost Camilla's. It has never been about Camilla. Baby dead or kidnapped? Well I didn't think you should have that baby of Ricardo anyway. And the conversation with his bio dad as Mad Marley pointed out shows that anything goes as long as he rids his life of his rival.

That judge by the way was intimidated before by Al. La ley es la ley if Jorge or Al tells him which law. But he did respect a higher authority, namely Bishop Gaspar.

Oh yeah! Can we have the duena from the second safe house testify that she told Sanki that she knew a midwife that could come right over right then, no need to move the woman in labor. Could be interpreted as reckless endangerment of life, si?
Sanki wouldn't have to take responsibility for his actions, he could just labor in the prison rock breaking brigade contemplating the sins of the world. No, I guess that'd be too hard on his mother.

I don't understand the Spanish king pardoning all the pirates. Weren't they robbing from Spanish boats and selling the goods to England (Forman)? It seems to me they would all be hanged if caught, not pardoned. I think I'm missing some history points here.

Oh, about Sophia. I wasn't questioning her local social standing. Her class places her above all the rest in SanFer. I was referring to her social class.

Which reminds me of the times comments were made about how easy it is to understand Jorge's speech. Perhaps some of his distinct diction was intended to indicate how well educated and well-bred his background.

Anon 3:26 re: pirate pardons. Both Britain & Spain actively recruited privateers (basically, pirates w/ a veneer of government legitimacy...as long as they only attacked enemies). At points in history, they pardoned pirates for a variety of reasons but as pirate reduction policy, it never worked. The lure of easy riches was too great.

There was a very thin line between privateers & pirates, depending on which side of the sword you were on!

Gracias Mad Maggie, but wasn't Rick and Co. stealing from Spain (ships and towns)? They weren't attacking the enemy, they were attacking Spain. Perhaps I'm making too much of telenovela logic. Afterall we keep referring to Ric's treasures (jewels and money I mean :o) when actually all of it was stolen property, no?

I noticed Fortunata and the capitan exchanging looks ... I would like to see her end up with a happy ending.

And I suggested Don Gaspar as a deus ex machina 'cause, well, he's a MAN of G-d, so .... (a little joke).

When LaFont slammed his crutch into Lisabeta's back, I thought maybe it was going to snap her spine and cripple her, which would have been some kind of poetic justice.

And, yes, she does clutch at Ricardo every chance she gets, but he's not buying the "poor little me" act.

And why would Manuela be afraid of being sent to a convent? after spending her life cooped up with her horrible father, wouldn't it be a relief? even scrubbing floors would be better than being locked in the armoire ....

Thanks J.R for a great recap and like most other viewers I hate to see this novela end. It's my favorite (of 4) so far.

Whenever someone writes in that they have "cheated" and watched upcoming episodes I almost have a heart attack. I hold my breath until I'm sure they haven't given away part of the story that I want to experience for myself. I'm sure that informing everyone that you are no longer in suspense is a well meant teaser or even reassurance that the issue will be dealt with. So, please be considerate and remember some of us like the adrenalin that's associated with suspense of not knowing. Announcing that you know what's going to happen comes too close for comfort to a spoiler.

Anon 4:04 - it was a very confusing time! Pirates did attack ships w/ impunity, regardless of the flag flying from the mast. Their crews were usually multinational & their allegiance was only to themselves. The privateer issue only made it worse & a privateer wasn't above attacking his own country's ships, especially when miles from home. Both Britain & Spain had little resources to spend on defense & it was only when pressured by losses (either theirs or merchants') did they try to address the situation. Believe it or not, they did think that if they offered pardons, the pirates would settle down & behave & stop the attacks but it wasn't until the rise of the British navy (late 18th century) that the pirate problem was solved.

Rousing history! I spent a semester last fall on this & loved it almost as much as Pasion. Of course, there was no Ric in my research paper, which made it less scintillating.
:-0

Gracias otra vez Mad Maggie. The pirate history is starting to make some sense!

Anon 4:04, I just wanted to add that Capt. William Kidd is a famous example of a pirate or privateer who was NOT pardoned although he tried negotiating for clemency. He was found guilty of piracy and murder and hanged in England in 1701, probably because he had become a political hot potato between the Whigs and the Tories. But later some of his associates, including John Barleycorn, were pardoned just before their own scheduled executions. So, yep, those were confusing times.

J.R. - many thanks for all the recapping - I've always liked your concise style. Enjoy your summer!

Where, oh, where is Mario?? Can't wait 'til he & brother Coronel come face to face! The Coronel seems too decent for Ursula, plus he has kids...she doesn't even pay attention to her own child.

Fortunata - vaya - may snag a novio and esposo after all! A officer and, one hopes, a gentleman. Espero que sí.

OK - Lis is a bruja, but that whack on her back was too much for me. I thought she was going to die right there. Her plan to move tía and baby P to Camila's old house was actually quite smart.

Santi never ceases to disappoint with his insane jealousy of Ric and inability to accept his own pecados. He's really kind of stupid, isn't he?

I laughed at Auxi washing her hair in the gulf water. Guess she likes sticky, sandy, salty hair!

Ric is so cool!! It was hard for him to "forgive" Justo, but he did. Loved, loved, loved his confrontation with Santi; not killing him was better revenge than slicing his throat. Let Santi stew on the fact that he never searched for Cami, like Ric would have. He might have found her and been reunited. Instead, the better man got her!

I still want Jorge spared...I have great confidence (& a soft spot for him) he can "reform" and make up for his bad ways with Sofia and even Ursula.

Three more hours!! Waahhh...

Julie, ref to your comment "Hey, you're right. He's not her nephew at all! Que the ..."
I don't know if it's a regional thing in Mexico (because I was born there but raised here most of my life). The children of cousins call their parent's cousin Tio or Tia. So in fact, Lis would be called Tia by Rickey Jr. That is how I was taught by my parents and all their relatives. I have many nieces & nephews (2nd cousins) -- children of my first cousins.

Liz was correct with "nephew".In Spanish a first cousin is referred to as Primo Hermano (Brother/Sister Cousin).Hence the nephew /niece title for second cousins.
I don't know if Rick knows about Ascanio's papers.I think he is referring to Mario's.
Man , I will miss this show and you great blogger/poster!mhm

Anon 05:56 -- I just wanted to note that we were taught by our parents that a primo or prima is a 1st cousin. These 1st cousins are related on only 1 side of the family.

If first cousins are directly related to both their aunt & uncle, their children would call each other a primo hermano or a prima hermana. In my own family - my sister and I married two brothers. So my son would call my sister's son his "primo hermano". And my son would call my sister's daughter his "prima hermana."

My mother told us that this is a way of specifying that my sister's 4 children and my son have the same two bloodlines. I know other families in Mexico use primo hermano to simply mean 1st cousin. So perhaps it's just a regional thing.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Thanks to all the recappers for their fabulous work!!!

Thanks for the explanation. I think it's a nice custom to refer to cousins' kids and nieces and nephews.

My cousin tells her daughter to call me "aunt," but only as an honorific, the way you might with a friend of the family. No one else in the family refers to second and removed cousins this way, and in any case it doesn't matter, since the kid doesn't talk to me at all. ;-)

And may I say, "cousin-sister" sounds so much nicer than "double-cousin"!

It has been fun reading all the comments that were posted while I was at work. I always learn so much from this forum. As to the tia/tio issue, my heritage is German /English, and my mother never allowed my sister or me to call close family friends who were older by their first names . We always had to say Aunt Ruth and Uncle Henry even though they were not relatives. . Also, my mother was the youngest of 7 and her oldest sister's children were around my mother's age , so my sister and I always called our cousins Aunt and Uncle because they were so much older than we were and much more like aunts and uncles than cousins. Their children were around our ages, so we called them cousins. This made for some confusion. I expected Ric to confront Lis and then pick up Little Ricky and walk out the door. I can't understand that he wasn't concerned about leaving the baby in the house with those 2 crazy, awful people. Why would he have to barter the papers for the baby ? Why did he make Lafont promise not to tell Lis about their deal? And one more observation. I can't believe that Lafont who just lost an eyeball and a leg and who is in extreme pain can really be in the mood for love !!! He really is a horny Energizer bunny. Maybe it's the laudanum...However, he has such a buzz on that if he actually manages to get the skittish Lis back into his bed , he may find that he is incapacitado...and that couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Yes, Lafont, they're writing songs of love but not for you .

Sorry, that first sentence was supposed to be "kids AS nieces and nephews."

I see in the sidebar (okay, actually someone else pointed out to me) that Melinama and Chris have joined the Fuego recap team. Awesome! Double-awesome!!

I wrote a longer comment, but Blogger made it disappear. Just wanted to thank Capitana j.r. for another great recap, to cheer the good guys and boo the bad guys. (Ric is so awesome, LaFont is so evil, I thought he broke Lis' back.)
La Paloma

I posted this on Monday's comments and meant to post on Tuesday's.

My best friend Jennie has lymphoma and has to get one of the tumors removed on Monday - her main concern? - that she won't see our cast of characters on Cristina. My job - which I happily accepted - is to tape it for her. It was either that or she wakes up from surgery and drives the poor nurses nuts trying to see the show on a wall-mounted hospital TV. See, even the big C can't keep us Pasion fanatics down for long.
Maybe all of you guys can send some good vibes her way. Thanks

Jazzee~~~~Please tell Jennie that another Pasion fan will be sending out powerful good vibrations for her ~~~~~~~~~~~XOXOXO

Jazzee, my students and I will be praying for her (Catholic school, we get to pray, in fact it's encouraged).

Thanks all for the wonderful recaps. Enjoy your summer, you've earned it!

I have to miss tomorrow night. If the VCR doesn't work you will all probably hear the scream...

Marg in MN

Mad Bess, I don't think Little Ricky was in the house when Ric barged in. I also think Ric wanted to bargain with Al because he didn't want Al to call the authorities on Ric for kidnapping Pedro--I don't think Ric trusts that he would win a legal battle in that town.

I don't think Ric trusts that he would win a legal battle in that town.

I certainly wouldn't.

Interestingly, I always had unrelated aunts when I was growing up, too - and we're just American mutts on this side of the family. (I can't remember if there were uncles or not, but it may just be that I was always with my grandmother and her friends, and not the friends' husbands.)

J. R., thanks for this fabulous final recap with a superb title! You've been a rock and even if I haven't commented, you hear it from me al otro lado, amiguita. You have a wonderful summer and get some rest from EVERYTHING, including recaps.

Jeanne (just getting back into action....a little)

Jazzee...

All my prayers to your friend and her surgery. Bless you for being in her corner. My family is fighting the lymphoma (and myeloma) battles too, so she isn't alone. *sending healing vibes*

I'm finally caught up. I was a week behind on episodes at the beginning of THIS week. Whew. Just in time for GRAN FINAL. :-)

May you always have peace, joy, and love as well, capitana j.r.!

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful words and all of your prayers for Jennie. It is so appreciated.

I'm wondering if the Col who talked about the black sheep might be referring to our precious Mario and that's why MMM is off screen right now.

I think ric told lafont not to tell liz because liz might take off with the baby before he had a chance to get the child and she did just that anyway .

To anony regarding youtube. I for one would never ever spoil things for anyone. I learned a long time ago to avoid those things because I watched commenters get chewed out big time. Plus I learned not to discuss it online right after the program because others see it at another time. I have nothing to hide. My comment was a general one. Does the author of the novelas edit these novelas while they are still running and things they were going to put in, they leave out because of time constraints or because they got feedback that the fans wanted something else to happen? In La Fea, there were a few videos that I never saw happen in the novela. And at least two in Destilando. Don't forget, commenters and recappers of led the audiance to specific youtube sections, when they missed certain episodes. It is kind of hard not to look at others while you are there.

Hey Big up for the good job.Its such an attaching movie.Rico, mario cami and Jimena made the did.I like it and hope to see the remaining bit
