Pasion cast on Cristina
- I couldn't help noticing that Fernando Colunga smiles a lot more in real life, and a lot more broadly, than Ricardo ever did!
- There was a segment about what a great kisser Colunga is, and a brief montage of him kissing previous costars and them endorsing his kissing skills.
- Colunga likes extreme sports.
- Susanna Gonzales (Camila) had to wear a flesh-colored bodysuit for the love scenes... and with each love scene being more revealing than the one before it, they had to cut away more and more of the suit, until finally it was practically falling apart.
- Daniela Castro (Liz), who sang on the Cristina show maybe ten years ago, did a lot of talking... she strikes me as extremely chatty, but likable. Gonzales said that Castro doesn't have a mean bone in her body.
- Castro talked about - among many other things - how great motherhood is. She also revealed that Colunga has a thing for cucumbers. He eats a lot of them and is constantly trying to foist them off on his costars.
- Castro talked about the rape scene with Lafont. I'm sorry to say that as much as I wanted to understand this, I could not follow it. I don't think she talked about the scene in the carriage or her crawling through the desert.
- I thought she said something about putting her hand on someone's "miembro," and there was a lot of laughter - apparently she didn't mean it the way it sounded. I don't know what she did mean, though. Sorry.
- Sadly, Sebastian Rulli (Santi) barely said a thing, and I didn't catch what little he did say. I was out of the room for a while, which was probably whatever time was devoted to him.
- There was some discussion of how the episodes don't get censored in Mexico, but do get censored in the US. I didn't catch most of what they said about this, unfortunately, but the general tone was that the things you see on TV are tame compared to what happens in real life. (It seems to me that we weren't spared any of the violence, just some of the sex.)
Labels: Pasion
Oh--there was one other thing. Apparently he picked up a stray dog that wandered on to the set of Pasion. Apparently they took a liking to eachother and he had him fixed up at the vet and now the dog is a family pet. It turned out to be a pure bred schnauzer, not a mutt. There were pics of the dog.
I wonder if the original version is available on you tube for comparison...they might pull it though if it was really that graphic. If anyone knows, do share...
So when she said she didn't mean it the way it sounded, I guess she just meant she didn't REALLY touch him.
Daniela Castro also mentioned that her daughers were extras (with Gaby Rivero's daughter as Tita and Carla's son as Claudio this was really a family affair!) She said that Maya Mischalska (sp?) who played Ursula had a line where she calls Lis a rat and one of her daughters took offense and had to have the whole acting thing explained to her.
She also suggested that she'd be open to really coming back into acting since this was kind of a test that her family was able to work around her Pasion gig.So we might see her around in another novela in the future.
I almost didn't recognize her face, with her hair so different... but the she starts to talk, and there's no mistaking that voice!
I understood 90%, but the hardest thing for me is when they talk over each other. I can usually understand everything when one person is speaking (unless they're Cubans - a whole different ballgame). Cristina is especially bad, in my opinion, for rattling on right in the middle of what one of her guests is saying.
It was really funny when Cristina said Televisa would send an assassin if Fer broke, for example, his nose when filming the motorcycle wheelies.
I would like to have heard more from Susana. I thought she looked better with straight hair and she seemed like a lovely person. But I think Cristina assumes her audience just wants Fernando and more Fernando. So she focuses on him. She even plugged his movie.
They all seemed like really nice people, although I think Daniela Castro would wear you out if she were your guest, say, for dinner. Definitely likes the sound of her own voice.
All in all, I enjoyed the show a lot, saved it on my DVR for future viewing to see if I can get the 10% I missed.
KHLD(k) The carraige scene is when Lis gets kidnapped by the robbers right near the end. I am sure you didn't miss it. All we see is flashes of her petticoats, her screams (she tries to scream out the window) and then her hands reaching out. Then blackness as she vanishes into the night. We all thought that she was dead until her final scene crawling in the desert.
He talked about how much he liked working with "Mario" and how they concocted those signs and whistles the characters used. SG said that after awhile she understood them , too . Fc was pretty funny. After they talked about his love of pickles. (I know pepino means cucumber but I got the idea from the way they talked that they meant pickles.)Anyway ,after that they showed two actresses saying that FC was the best kisser. When Cristina asked him to what did he attribute his kissing skill, he smiled , shrugged and said "Pepinos?"
Daniela C spoke of his great cologne.
Cristina asked FC and SG if they were a couple and both stated "no" but that they felt that such questions were a compliment to their on-screen chemistry.
Rulli and Cristina talked about Rulli's grandfather who had worked as a Blacksmith once upon a time.
He became a successful business man Rulli was inspired by him etc.
He loved that little dog and called him Gaucho. mhm
When Fernando and Sebastian shake hands was when Susana said that in one of the love scenes Fernando was wearing shorts and she was wearing a thong and she complained about so Fernando started ripping out material from the shorts until it was a practically a thong. Then they had to tie a knot to whatever was left of the short so his things did not come out. Sebastian said jokingly “that’s why she preferred Ricardo because his was so big that he had to tie a knot to it.”
They made a lot of sexual oriented jokes.
Fernando was just killing me with his smile - wow, he was adorable!
And looks like they are really great friends with Dani Castro - he was leaning more to her that to Susy. Probably long acting path together and probably friendship - adding to the very pleasant personalities of both.
And definitely the experience for both of them makes them at ease during this show ( comparing to Susy and Rulli).
I glad we have this discussion because I definitely was questioning the "member" thing - I couldn't believe I understood it right. Also there was some joke about "cuke" where Daniela said while laughing - "I'm a married woman!".
Also I like how Dani said that there was always the aroma of cologne behind Fer so you can always say that he just passed by.
Overall I wish we had continuación of this interview next Monday! And Dani could have even sing something.
BTW, have you noticed that more personal questions were asked only to Rulli and Dani, neither Susi nor Fernando mentioned anything about their personal life.
Actually it was very noble by Christina not to ask anything personal knowing how Fer is guarding his private life. And Susy - yes, there are rumors, but probably very painful for her to discuss.
Sue, I was reading your post right before posting mine - hillarious!

It was really neat that Dani Castro said such nice things about Jose/Alberto LaFont because he's such a good actor he could pull it off, but she said he's great to work with. She was so afraid of how the public would view her playing a blind woman and that she wouldn't do it right, so she went to the association for people who are blind and studied, and it turned out okay. We all made jokes and references to it, but all in all, she did fairly well-IMO as a three-decades teacher of the blind. In the end, remember, we didn't talk about that as much as her nasty personality as Lis, which was the point, after all.
Julie, THANKS for doing this recap!!! Great job!!!
I'm goign to Miss my Pirate and all the pepinos... :)
It was easier when I didn't get a clue!

I didn't take any notes or anything last night - I'm really glad that other people were paying attention. The miembro story makes a lot more sense now, too.
Castro also talked about how people who are born blind experience their blindness very differently from those who lose their sight later on. She said more but I didn't understand all of it.
I remember being really iffy on both Castro and Gonzales at the beginning of the series, but they were both so good by the time it finished. That's why I'm cutting everyone some slack (except Montero) for the first few weeks of Fuego. It must be really difficult getting into some of these roles, especially when you're still recovering from the last one.
I was sad that Mario, Jimena, Ascanio, Jorge, etc. weren't on Cristina. Is there going to be a part 2 next week, or was that it?
"Susana González rompe el silencio sobre su relación sentimental con el actor Eduardo Santamarina, si sus candentes escenas en “Pasión” fueron las que provocaron el rompimiento y como la relación entre ella y Fernando Colunga fue creciendo y fortaleciéndose a medida que se fueron conociendo."
I wish we had a full coverage.
And I don't think it will be the followup ( I wish!) - during the comercial break they showed preview of the next week show - completely different theme.

It was kind of interesting watching the body language of the actors--Colunga with the two women on the couch, Castro leaning into him and Susana leaning away and Rulli way off by himself.
If they edited a chunk out about Susana's personal life, it must have been a little rough for her, given that the range of topics she had to discuss involved the death of her father and breaking up with her SO. After it was over when the credits are rolling you can see her go up to Cristiana and I think Cristina puts an arm on her shoulder. Fernando seemed a little protective of her too.

My mother-in-law was deaf at age 4 and had some interesting phrases from childhood, including my personal favorite: prettyful. She read well, and I knew she never read that word, but could read "beautiful" but her version was probably how she said it when she became deaf from a fever. She remembered language, though, and became a great reader because she already had a vocabulary before she became deaf and didn't have to struggle learning vocabulary as an infant, toddler and preschooler without hearing it.
I thought it was interesting that Daniela had studied even concepts like this preparing for the role.

One thing, when Fernando was saying he was into extreme sports, he did say he was now a helicopter pilot, right?

Does "tanga" mean a thong? I couldn't find it in my dictionary.
Susana and Daniela looked great. Fer's face practically lit up the screen whenever he grinned; I suppose that's where the "million watt smile" saying comes from. :) I wish Sebastian had gotten to say more too. Boo. But truthfully, I was happier than a pig in slop just looking at him. *sigh*
Sebastian said jokingly “that’s why she preferred Ricardo because his was so big that he had to tie a knot to it.” ROFL! Holy Moly. Thanks, sue.
Yes, tanga means thong.
Pepinos can be either pickles or cucumbers (though pickles are often called pepinos agrios - sour cucumbers) but I got the impression that they were talking about cucumbers, and laughed when FC said that he practiced with them to be such a good kisser.
During the "member" discussion, Dani mentioned how they originally were going to have Jose Elias Moreno put her hand on it, but the first time they did it during rehearsals, it jumped (FC said, well off course it did!) which surprised them both. They worked on the scene (both in talks and rehearsal) for a while until they got it just tight. She commented how comfortable she was working with Moreno and how helpful that was in doing such a difficult scene.
At the beginning, Rulli said something about having to be separate from everyone 'cause he just got married (or something along those lines) - that and the love seat was separate from the couch the rest of the cast sat on.
On a topic mentioned during the grand finale (though not in Christina) I too have mixed feelings about FC in a Corazon Salvaje remake. It's been done three times and the last one was soooo good. However, one of the comments reminded me that prior to Palomo's death, he and Edith Gonzalez had been in talks for a sequel. Soooooo, I wonder if that's the project that Estrada has in the works for Colunga. I've never been an ageist, but the fact is that FC is a good decade older than the rest of the actors who played Juan. In a sequel, that would make perfect sense. Just a thought, and a big hope on my part.
I will miss this blog so much! The other TNs have so much fewer comments, whatever will I do with my time now? ;)
Guess I'll stick to the rest!
