Enemiga 7-16 Wed. - Congratulations Mom and Dad, It's a Girl (er, make that a 22yr old witch)!! And there is much rejoicing (er, crying)!!
jgmsdomqWe start with Sara meeting Mommy dearest. Huge hugs and crying for our crying scale, I’ll let you decide the level. There was never a day Zully didn’t think of her or keep her in her prayers. Roll of the eyes from Sara.
Jaime and Snorty are at the arguing again. He thinks they shouldn’t have done the separation and he never thought there wouldbe such great consequences, QUE? You take away your brother's only kid with his beloved wife and tell them it's dead but put her away in an orphanage and never tells either of them of the other, and you don't think the consequences are that great? Hmmmmm.....
Ma suffered for kid. Blessed that hey are together. More rolling eyes and she curses Lorena for making her have to do this.
Lore cries that she wishes she had her parents. She begs the virgin to find them.
More happiest day of life by Mom and kid. She can’t wait for Pa and the rest of the family to arrive. She is her Pa’s only child. Sara tells herself to be patient with all this sticky sweet, this can’t last long.
Diana is walking with Vasco, she asks if he believes in bad visions/feelings. He’s never had one, but she has a bad feeling something is happening at home, more than just what Lorena’s news is. She doesn’t want to go back though so they sit.
Diana asks what he thinks of Lore. He says she’s great. Di says it’s love at first sight but he says no, not like that, more that he’s known her his whole life. Di is mad that she’s always hanging around the house. Vasco says well, of course, because she works for your Ma, besides she has no family so her life has been difficult and Di says well she doesn’t need to take mine though. She then lets out a big yawn and he wonders if he is boring her. She says no, it's just everything going on, so he invites her for coffee but wants to invite one more person.
We get a tourist commercial for Mexico City by the Three’s Company Mexican style as they wander around the city and they decide to go to the National Museum of History or the Castillo de Chapultepec.
Back at the discovery, Zully speaks badly about “Abue” and that she will pay for this but Sara asks not to speak badly about her, but tell her instead about Pa.
Alonslow comes up to a crying Lore and gives her a hug.
Sara thinks this room they have given her is awful, she was better off in the orphanage. She finds some eye drops to help her fake cry because she’s all dried up. She was never that full in the first place. Just then Pa Omar comes home and gets the news from Zully about his new found old daughter. Sara, freshened by eyedrops, runs up and hugs her Pa. “Papa” she repeats a thousand times crying. Doesn’t make it so...and Omar’s look kind of confirms that for us.
Lore and Alonslow are chatting about the encuentro and that Sara has been lied to this whole time. Lore thinks it’s not so bad, she has her parents now. Lore wishes she was in Sara’s place. (smirk).
Lore wishes she too had a family and Al says she shouldn’t give up and takes yet another chance to offer himself as a husband to form a family.
G-Pa is showing Betti how to Mambo and there is generational bonding as he tells her that Maestro Damaso Perez Prado invented this art. Mean mommy comes out and wonders what the scandal is. He tells her to cut it out and gets her to dance eventually too after teasing her.
Ma and Vasco and Diana, now there’s an odd trio, are having coffee. Ma admits the liposuction did her some good on the outside, but she hurts inside and wants him back. He wants the subject changed so Ma picks an even better one and asks him if he went to look for Mariana. He swears that is over and dead. Ma doesn’t understand, he’s exchanging more for less. At that moment Diana smartly excuses herself to the restroom. Ma thinks she has little tact for mentioning such a thing and Vasco defends that she is being made very uncomfortable with Ma’s indirect snarks at her. Ma says well you are not her class. He says she’s very kind and nice. ma misses that point completely. She says she isn’t going to talk about family stuff in front of that naca though. She does have something she needs to tell him out of her earshot.
Al and Lore are still chatting about how awful what the Abue did was even though Sara wants to pardon her. Alonzlo thinks maybe that’s not so bad but Lorena says no way.
Ma is already eating with Pa and kid. It’s happy until Pa wants to put his Ma and bro in jail. Sara begs not, that they have repented. She knows this, Omar keeps pressing even though Zully says it’s not Sara’s fault and just leave it for today to not ruin the great day. Sara keeps telling him they’ve changed and besides she’s in the will...whoops. Duh, that was stupid. Omar wonders if that’s all she cars about the money and that she is being bought. Suddenly Zully changes sides and agrees that money can’t make up for all the years of suffering that woman has caused and maybe they are trying to buy Sara off. Sara swears it's not the money just a measure of her regret. Omar is not persuaded and he is off to give them a piece of his mind or his boot whichever.
Al strokes Lore’s hair during her wine induced sleep. Eventually he wakes up her up with tea, and says it’s time for her to go home even though he’d love for her to stay. Lore says she won’t fall into the temptation and he says well one day.
The happy Trio returns home after their romp in the park. Rossy is jealous of how well her beau and Ma get along. She wanted time alone with him, but he is smart and keeps on flattering Ma, and tells Rossy she is being rude.
Next we see mad brother beat up sorry brother. Heck of good too for older guys. He really socks it to him and kicks him in the stomach. Sorry bro calls off his staff to leave him to his punishment. He is repenitent.
I really like the pepper shown with pomegranate sprinked over top, that looks soooo good!
Anyway, we are back to the fighting and Jaime tells Omar to go ahead and kill him.
Back at home Sara is worried about Omar's state and that he is capable of committing a tragedy. Zulema tells her not to worry, but Sara says she needs to go and defend that old bag.
Back at the mansion, Jaime is hoping that allowing this beating will be all Omar needs to feel better and this will make up for the guilt he's felt all this time so he encourages Omar to wail on him more. Yeah, that's doubtful, but nice try anyway, Jaime. He's doing a decent cry job though. Omar swears he will make them pay, he's not satisfied with the tear bit either.
Vasco and co arrives outside of the house and sends Di inside. Ma proceeds to tell him the lot of Sara, and that she swears she knew nothing of it before now.
Jaime swears he's never lived a day of peace since they did this. Omar doesn't believe he's remorseful or he would have rescued the daughter and basically calls him a wimp for not standing up to their Mom. Jaime says yep, I'm a wimp, I let her trample all over me to get a little approval and attention from her because I was always walking in YOUR shadow. That's some heavy sibling rivalry there. And I understand the Freudian Mom complex thing, but please, this woman invokes that much need to impress? Ugh, seems like you could grab her and break her in half in a second, but whatever. Now I'm disgusted. Anyway.... Omar will never forgive him for destroying his family.
Vasco is equally incensed that his relatives could pull this off. Mama still wants him home. He says ha, no way now for sure. He's no longer part of this family. ma is worried that if Sara doesn't prevent it that Pa goes to jail. Vas wonders how Sara will stop that and she says because she's already forgiven everybody. Vasco is imapactado that she knew the truth from the beginning. Ma doesn't know everything for sure, and just them Julian walks back and Vasco wants to go to see what's happening with his uncle. Ma begs him to stay in touch with her because remember she wasn't involved.
Inside Di fills in Julian about them being asked to leave and is worried because now no one is home.
Back at the apartment of estrogen, the Ma and Daughter are fighting again about Julian's attention. Lore has had enough and sentences them to therapy with Don Toribio first thing in the morning.
At the mansion Snorty finally shows her ugly head and finds out what's going on and swears her unfettered regret and her pride in Sara. Speaking of weird lipstick I guess it’s Snorty’s turn. Omar keeps hurling the usual insults one might in this situation which I'm going to skip over, and he ends up threatening them with jail before he is about to leave. Just then Sara and Zully rush in screaming please don't do hurt "Abue" she just wants a happy united family. Good luck with that I say. She wails feeling it's her fault if they go to the jail. This one is probably up there on that scale. She gets faint and decides she doesn't have the strength to go back to her new lesser home ,but before she goes upstairs begs her Pa not to harm them.
Back at this lesser home, the three young'ons are wondering WTF or que the heck. Outside the lesser home Lipoass calls her honey muffin amante and begs to see him for some stress relief. He actually does a proper thing and refuses because he is watching his sweet little daughter. He apologizes and says this happens rarely, but he has to stay with her. He gets a point or two for this. BUT>>>>> cute little duaghter wonders if he was talking to Mommy because he called the person "my love" and he tells her she heard wrong. This will no doubt come back to bite him somehow.....little kids are smarter than most think!!!
Sara rehashes her acting performance with Chalo and how she's sure she'll win the Oscar (er, Omar....) for it.
Poor maid cleaning up after all that drama. I guess that's why these people never think twice about throwing and breaking things, someone else cleans them up! Ma returns home to find out what happened from Jaime and that she knew Sara wouldn't convince them. Jaime yells at her that he wants to be alone. Ooooh rejected again. Poor Barbi.
Lore is wandering the dark halls thinking about not finding her family and sniffling.
At the lesser house, they are speaking the next morning about Sara's situation and that it's weird she stayed at the mansion knowing all this. Di is wary, but everyone else gives her the benefit of the doubt that she was overcome with fatigue. Omar brings his wife some juice in bed and everyone acts as if he were bringing her the solution to world peace. He knows how to treat a woman and Julian wants to take notes. Ah, I could insert snide chauvinistic comments here, but I won't. Juice in bed doesn't suck I suppose.
At the Clinica Popular, Valeria is complaining about the double work they have to do since Bruno became jefe and Alonslow agrees he's abusing his power. No one is able to reign him in. Al offers to help her with the files next time. he wonders if she knows anyone who works in television. She'll see but can't promise anything. He has an idea, and it's not a campaign against Bruno.
Bruno is presumably buying cheap or fake medicine from a black market guy. Probably to save money and pocket the difference, but I guess we'll see. He makes an evil smile.
Di and Vasco are musing about not sleeping well after last night's news. Lore shows up for her shift and Di takes the opportunity to thank Lore for what she did and being a great person. lore wonders where Sara is and Di says, well, she is not her because she's rather sleep in the big bad mansion than the lesser house. Vasco again reminds her not to think badly yet. Di agrees.
Julian comes down and tells lore his ma is still resting from all this drama so they should just start on the food themselves. And they do.
At the business, these kids who never change their distinctive clothes, Vasco and Diana, are discussing that they both just feel something isn't right with this whole Sara thing. It's always funny how with people depicted equally smart in the story, some get clued in to things, and others don't.
Snorty and Jaime discuss that Sara will convince her parents not to rat. Jaime isn't convinced. Barbi comes running down the stairs demanding to know what happened last night and SNorty just quietly walks away. that was actually kind of cool. Jaime says that Omar is going to send him to jail and he is not going to resist. Barbi is upset, but she should shut up because this will give her plenty of opportunity to spend time with her amante.

I loved the scene where Alonso's dad (sorry, can never remember hos his name is spelled...I keep thinking Don Torbio but how about Don Turbulent?)...ANYWAY...that oldster had some VERY GOOD MOVES...he was shimmying his shoulders (and trust me, it's not that easy) and shaking his hips at the same time. I was impressed, really impressed
Think I'm gonna drop my crush on Omar and go after Gramps.
However scene of Omar pounding on Jaime was very satisfying. As it was to Omar and evidently Jaime, who has struggled with guilt all his life. Evidently Abuela hasn't.

I know I am repeating myself here, but couldn't the writers do something to liven up the relationship between Lorena and Alonso? They are supposed to be hawt in love right? The couple we are rooting for, right? Their big night is she falls asleep and he watches her then makes her some tea?!?!? Gah! I'm frustrated. Maybe the writers are too, which explains why they are giving no screen time to our galán. Over in Fuego land the boys use any excuse to rip off their clothes. They should do more of that here.
However Kris, your recap is very entertaining. I agree, Omar looked unconvinced and confused before he got his heat on and popped big bro in the face. It was a great scene, and the following one with Abue, Sara and Zully all screaming at Omar, Jaime and each other was classic telenovela fare.

Okay..I see brief parts of this. Now sorry I have a couple of questions that my husband can't answer due to his lack of attention. Okay I get it that Lor is the real deal right and Sara (squinty eyed) is the faker. Right?

Beckster, you're right that Lorena is the real one, and Sara is the faker. I don't think we really know exactly what happened (but I could be wrong). I think that 1) Omar, the good one of evil Hortensia's two sons, started dating "lower class" Zulema, Hortensia was mad, and her other son, Jaime, just went along with her. 2) Zulema got pregnant before they were married (she also had 2 other kids already). So Hortensia didn't want the scandal of a) lower class granddaughter and b) out of wedlock granddaughter. So somehow, she (with Jaime's knowledge), snatched the baby, making Zulema and Omar think it was stillborn. 3) If Hortensia were super bad, she'd have it killed, but instead, being only very bad (but not super bad), she sent the baby (Lorena) to an orphanage, and either paid or otherwise insisted to the Mother Superior (now dead) that the whole matter be kept quiet.
Because the son, dad of the baby, dishonored his family by doing that horrible forbidden deed of falling for a servant, a much lower class person.

The one thing I don't understand about the baby kidnapping/dropoff at the orfanato is (I know the real answer is 'otherwise we wouldn't have a plot for the show') if they wanted Lorena gone from the Armendariz family, why did Hortensia leave all her contact information behind in a file? Why not just a driveby dropoff, like Sara's parent(s) did?

Gramps dancing was adorable by the way....that was my favorite scene and thank heavens there is some comedy to the dark novela.

I was only able to get the lady to dance counterclockwise.
Out of the corner of my left eye I thought I saw her twirling clockwise, but I think she was taunting me.
I could see how it was possible to imagine that she was twirling the other way, but I couldn't get my eyes to cooperate.

I've been butterfingered lately (minus the delicious butter) and it turns out I have the beginnings of both carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel. And ulnar something or other. Maybe he's got one of those too, and we'll get a PSA on repetitive stress injuries. :)

Dropping soda was constantly the "bad" brother Jaime - he was feeling so guilty all his life for what he did to his brother so he can't even hold the can.

Quick answers for Beckster et al -
1) On the baby death faking - It is also possible that Snorti thought that without the little bundle, Omar and Zulema would split up and her boy would come back with his tail between his legs.
2) Why an orphanage? - For all her evilness, Snorti probably drew the line at murdering a descendant and if she just dumped her in some alley somewhere, there was a risk she wouldn't survive the night. Jaime didn't do the drop (no way momma would let him) 'cause Snorti signed some document. Jaime had the lovely job of finding a dead baby for the switch! No clue how he went about it.
3) Mother Superior's silence - Chances are Snorty lied and told her the parents didn't want the baby either. It isn't unusual for people to drop off their kids for adoption and she was sworn to secrecy. Had she known Lore's parents weren't in on the adoption, that might have been a horse of a different color.
4) Confession - A priest can certainly refuse absolution to a person who they don't believe has truly repented, but they are still under the "seal of confession" just like lawyers can refuse to defend someone they know to be guilty, but still can't just go telling the police what they know. By the by, what's cubital tunnel Julie? I know Carpal tunnel (sorry you got it) and one of the most extreme cases was, in the pinnacle of irony, my old chiropractor. It's one of the few things that can indeed end a career of that nature.
Carpal tunnel involves the median nerve. I assume (too lazy to look it up because my eyes are still blurry from going to the eye doctor) that that's the nerve that runs up the "middle" of your arm, probably in between your radius and ulna.
Cubital tunnel is similar to carpal tunnel except that it involves the ulnar nerve which runs up the pinky side of your hand. (The ulnar nerve is aka the funnybone.) Many people, including me, cannot tolerate a desk chair with arms because it'll pinch the ulnar nerve.
Then there's this third thing he mentioned, ulnar something, which is also obviously ulnar related but some extra problem in addition to whatever cubital tunnel really is.
So I guess the good news is that my radial nerve, and whatever tunnel is related to it, seem to be fine.
But all this does mean I'll be cutting back on recapping somewhat, since I have to type all day for my job as it is. Incidentally, these aren't official diagnoses - they're based on a quick screening. I have to wait 6 weeks for the "real" tests which involve shooting electrical pulses into the nerves, I think, and measuring the muscle's response. That sounds like it will be a barrel of laughs.
So whatever treatments are possible, I won't know until after the tests. Meanwhile, I need to find a less verbose way of communicating. :)

I know your pain - about 9 years ago I had ulnar nerve syndrom and it took almost a year to get better. After I was diagnosed I actually didn't do anything special - no surgeries, nothing, just less load then before on the left hand ( thanks G-d, it was on a left hand and I'm a righty).
By the way, since then I'm using extra pillow in bed - I'm putting my arm on it.
So, good luck to you - get better soon! And sure we will miss your recaps!

So sorry for this news. I know your computer is essentially an extension of yourself, with work, and this blog habit of ours. Sigh... I know you'll have to cut down, and that will be missed for sure but it will make the times you are with us that much more special! Sounds corny, but heck it's true.
Maybe look into those voice recognition technology programs, I know you'd know where to find them, and maybe that would help cut down on the amount of typing. I think they are becoming more easily available with digital dictation technology and stuff. They aren't perfect, but it might be an option worth exploring.... :)

I've used digital dictation and it takes some getting used to, like it's weird thinking and speaking the thoughts for me, but once you get into it for a while I noticed you do think differently.
I don't have a computer that would meet the tech requirements it needs (mine are old...really old) but I'd like to get something like this too, as I get pain in my hands from typing too much and I'm sure I'm not far from such problems myself. Sigh...

Julie I'm sorry to hear about your RSI issues. It's never fun when your own body gets in the way of you doing what you love. I think it's awesome how so many folks on this board came up with tech solutions. We're like a little family ;) I hope with some rest, therapy, and some savvy tech equipment, you can heal and not be in pain. In the meantime, NSAIDs are your friends ;)

I always love it when these soaps take a short stroll around Mexico City. I start to remember when I was actually there myself. For a little trivia, the Castillo is now a museum for Mexican History starting with Emperor Max and his wife Carlota, who remodeled it into a castle for themselves to live in. On Sundays, all mexicans can enter this museum for free. The distance from the Castillo along the Paseo de Reforma to the Chris Columbus monument is 10 kilometers or 6 miles (I discovered this tidbit after I actually walked the entire distance).
And thanks kris for the history museum link. Personally speaking, that museum is huge, and the mexican history is divided into different rooms/forums from the early years of all the native tribes up to modern times. (think the Smithsonian museum but all in one very huge hacienda-style building).
