Enemiga - 8-6 Wed, When it rains it Pours...

We start with Lore getting the boot from Zully. Sorry but we can’t afford to pay you anymore. Lore begs that she gets paid less or what they can because she wants to keep working. Zully doesn’t budge. Lore wonders why she is so cold, Zully says because she would like Lore to keep working, but she can’t so sorry. Lore is very upset.

We flash to Arty being very comfortable in Jaime’s office when he happens to show up. Arty fakes like he’s sorry and says he was only there for a second working. Jaime says no worries, I hear you are doing good work so continue. Jaime leaves and on his way out greets Maruja and says he only came to see her, because when one doesn’t feel well, he goes to see his friends, and she is a friend. Maruja tells him to perk up.

Back at the lesser house, Zully tells Lore scram and don’t come around anymore. Lore is trying to figure out Que the hell and Zully just tells her not to make this any harder. Lore says ok thanks for all you have done, then, and bye. Zully in a moment of pity offers her the day’s pay, but proud Lore refuses. After she walks out the door Zully wonders to herself why she feels so horrible about this and what if it was a mistake, but then she convinces herself that her daughter must come first.

Jaime continues telling Maruja how great she’s been to him and helpful and cheerful. She says it’s easier to see things when you are on the outside and she didn’t do much, but he says he appreciates her.

Operation Parent Trap

Betti’s Ma Pau runs into Luci’s Pa on the street they reintroduce themselves and chat for a moment. Betti calls on the cell phone that she and her friend will be two hours later. Ma is mad, but Betti tells her to go have a coffee or something. Pau tells the Pa the news and so he asks if she wants to go have a drink in the meantime. As they drive off we see the halfpints high five.

Trap set....

Julian can’t read his Ma’s writing and doesn’t know what she wants from the market. Zully takes it and goes off, but two girls recognize Julian from the tele and ask for his autograph.

In a park a vieja is offering a little boy candy saying it will help his soul. Didn’t your Ma ever tell you not to take candy from strangers? What gives!!! Next Lore takes some! This woman is a little scary for me, I guess maybe she’s there all the time. None the less Lore opens up to her about her woes. The lady asks for Lore’s hand and tells her she has a star and that things will work out, just have faith and she peddles another sweet. Wah...

Ernesto meets Raimundo (HOLY COW!!!! It’s HERIBERTO!!!!) in a restaurant and they drink, the guy tells Ernesto he’s opening a new restaurant and wants him to be head chef and tells him to name his price, he’ll be free to create his art. Ernesto agrees because he couldn’t turn down such an offer.

In another eating establishment, the parents are getting on fine, Pau is telling of her interview that turned out to be for a porno hotline. Pa wants to know what she was told to say and she finally whispers it in his ear and tells him not to repeat it, and he promises it will be their secret. He thinks she’s a really fun and funny person and she is happy because her ex- would have thought badly of her.

Evil Alonzo goes to the cooking school and has the nerve to ask for a refund of the tuition he paid for Lorena. Can he do that?

Lore is talking with her friend about their upcoming cocktail classes when she sees Al who walks past her in a huff and straight into the mouth of the wolf. He tells Sara about not paying the bill anymore.

After he leaves Sara tells herself that he will be hers one day, but she has to be subtle.
Lore wants to talk to her and tells of her Ma cutting her loose and fearing that she thinks she’s a bad person.

Speaking of her, Julian is quizzing Zully as to why she cut out Lore, and Zully doesn’t really want to tell him and chalks it up to a business decision.

Back at the cook school Lore wonders what Sara could have told her that she reacted this way. Sara starts to get mad.

In the car, Al is mad too, and tells himself he couldn’t believe she thought he was there to see her and that he wouldn’t even waste his time.

Sara yells at Lore and oh, by the way Al told her he’s not paying anymore, yes it was him not a scholarship. Lore is floored and never would have accepted. Sara tells her she has to go to class, but she’ll see how she might be able to lend a hand, and it won’t be her G-Ma’s money.

Lore goes to the registrar for more abuse. She learns that it’s true, and that she’s covered at keast for a month. The school gives half scholarships and she should see if she can get one. Lore begs for her help.

Parent Trap debriefing. Betti probes her Ma about the meeting without asking about the meeting. Pau tells her her work search went badly and not to ask.

Lore shows up at Al’s house. She yells at him for paying her tuition. He doesn’t care about the money and that she can take it in exchange for the good times they had. She says one day he’ll see that she never lied to him and she will be with a man who does believe in her.

Al wonders what other man, she’s already got her other man. She gives him back his ring and storms out. Al tells his Pa he doesn’t believe her.

Outside Lore cries about all the things wrong with her life, and asks the heavens what more could happen to her and in perfect dramatic fashion it begins to pour. Pouring pouring pouring, she recalls when they kissed in the rain, and swears that she will eventually forget him one day. She wanders off in the pouring rain, bawling. And the fat lady sings.

In the house Al looks out at the storm and swears to see her never again.

Sara at the lesser house thanks her Ma for supporting her and reiterates how much of a manipulator Lore is.

At Pau’s, Maru shows up to talk about Lore and Al breaking up. Maru begs her to talk to Al, but Pau says she can’t even mention her name and he blows up, it will be a miracle if they get back together.

Omar comes home and finds out that Lore has been fired, and that she believes that it’s true about Lore, and that Lore is a bad influence on Sara and she did what she had to do.

Maru comes home to learn of the news that Lore is out of work, and that she feels there is a conspiracy against her. Rossy and Maru tell her she always has a place here and they will never turn their back on her. Rossy offers to speak to Julian, but Lore just wants it left alone. She offers to prepare "her family" dinner.

The maid is offering Ernesto his breakfast but he’s refusing that he’s creating the menu for a Mexican Restaurant that could be the crowning glory of his career.

The young kids at the lesser house discuss what could have made their Ma/Aunt fire Lore.

Out on the streets Maru and Zully are running when Maru asks what’s up with Lore. Zully tells her the same she told Lore and Maru doesn’t believe her. Zully tells her she doesn’t want to talk about it. Maru leaves it alone for now but hopes she’ll learn the reason someday.

Snorty is bugging Jaime about not coming down. Snorty wonder what he thought of Arty. She tells him he needs to supervise his work. Jaime says he will when he feels better. She asks him to at least go to the Casino benefit tonight for the Orphanage San Juan de la Cruz. Jaime is impactado about this idea.

Downstairs Sara passes by Barb and says since her Tio is doing better then she has time to go to the bank with her, oh to get the money she wants so no one learns she has a lover.

Sara tells Barb to fork up or she’ll tell all about the lover. Barb asks her if she is now blackmailing her. Sara essentially smirks yes.

Just then Snorty comes down and announces she can’t get Jaime to go back to work, but Sara says it’s a step that he at least will go to the benefit tonight. She decides she wants to go see him, but admonishes Barb to wait for her so they can finish their "chat."

Sara goes up and sweet talks him that she will help him until he feels better, despite him separating her from her parents.

Lore is looking for work and not having any luck, and is told that the guy orders the girls around anyway.

Rosy meets Julian and they discuss that they can’t imagine why Zully would have let Lore go. Julian suggests that Rossy takes her place but Rossy says no way, if Lore's fired, she’s fired too.

Sara counts off a hunk o’bills for Chalo. Guess they came from Barbie. Chalo wants to get a used moto and Sara tells Chalo not to be so naco, to wait for more money so he can get a new moto and that he needs to set his sights higher. As usual he still wants nookie to celebrate, and as usual she puts him off. They are going to use the benefit as an excuse to off with him.

Snorty is giving orders about how to run the event when Sara gives her a proposal having to do with the orphanage, a subject she knows well.

Jaqui and Dario show up and kiss butt.

Arturo and wife show up, she has 1000 pesos for him to gamble he laughs her off there are no tables that low. Just then Jaime shows up with Barb and the lovers betrayed are all introduced.

Barb takes this opportunity to flatter Arturo to his wife. She smiles sadly happily.

Lore comes home to find Julian there, he says he doesn’t know what’s up with his Mom, but she can still count on him as his friend.

At the benefit Snorty is throwing dice weakly, then all of a sudden kisses and coos over orphans.

Jaime begins bawling at the hypocrisy of it all. Of course Barb uses this as an excuse to wander off.

We see Jaime take a handful of pills with a champagne chaser.

Barb is of course talking to her meat and complaining about Jaime. Valeria comes up and begs her husband to come watch someone winning a lot. He tells her he’s busy, but Barb who has infinitely more class than he, tells him to go ahead and they will catch up later.

Sara calls Chalo and lets him know of Jaime’s sips and slips and she tells him to be outside waiting for him at parking and that "He knows what to do!" yikes....

Jaime thinks is life is phony, but his Ma’s his more so.

Barb notices Jaime’s drinking and sniveling about his Ma and calls Vasco to come and get him up to avoid a scandal.

Arty’s wife even notices his drinking and asks hubby if his boss in an alcoholic. Hubby says he doesn’t think so, but she says it sure looks like it.

Snorty addresses the crowd about the purpose of the benefit and how important having a family is just as she says these children have a family in us and aren’t alone, Jaime jumps up that she is a deceiver!!!

Thanks for the speedy recap K! You are funny and thorough as usual ;) Yes indeed, Betti's plan for Pau is reminiscent of the "Parent Trap" movies; especially the second Haley Mills one.

I think the "bullet" Lorena dodged is that the boss at the job she was too late for hit on the girls that worked there.

Was I hallucinating, or was the rain in Lorena's pity party CG? She, her clothes, and her hair, stayed completely dry.

Figures that after Paula demanded that Maruja do her a favor, one that could have gotten her fired, she refuses to even attempt to talk to her brother. A simple: "let me see if he's more amenable when he's cooled off a bit" might have been a lot nicer. This is why she doesn't have many friends!

Have we noticed that, when Lorena's life is darkest, she always runs into an old person in a park bench that tells her it's going to be fine? They did this in episode 1 (or maybe 2) with the old man that even left his paper behind that led her to a job at Snorty's.

I think we've figured out what Lore's next gig will be. Some had suspected it would involve the hunky chef, and I think she's about to get herself a sous chef gig at his new restaurant. Just a guess.

Good morning "K" and Margarita. I was struck by the same things you were Ms. Chilaquiles....I loved the Parent Trap reference and when K mentioned the old woman(I didn't see this episode) I thought, "Aha, it's another angel. Because I thought the old fellow with the newspaper was one. These characters appear when things are the darkest for Lorena ("He will give His angels charge over thee").

Even the rain is very symbolic. In the parched land of the Bible, rain symbolizes the mercy of heaven.

Yes, I know...this is a telenovela, not advanced lit.!...but religious symbolism really seems to play a part in a lot of these.

Will be watching tonight, hoping to get a glimpse of Herbierto!!!...miss our old Juan crew like crazy.

Thanks "K" for getting this done, and in such a witty way, in the midst of your very busy life.

PS Perfect title!

Jaime is going to pull a "Guapos Luci" at the big fund raiser..Egads

Now this being a TelNovela we are insured that Lorena and AlDumbAss will hook up at the end..

But isn't it pretty to think they won't?

Oh yes, one of my many daily chants. Aldumbass you are such a Tool

I actually liked Aldo better than Alonso. That's saying something.

Thank you Fuego for very thorough recap, it keeps me afloat with you, guys.

Jaime drinking problem is started to show up - remember his trembilng hands, one time Snorty's comments etc...
I wonder how far his friendship with Maruja might go.

Probably Lorena's life is going to change for better now, since it always happened after the falling low and talking with the poor elder in a park.
Not a spoiler, just good guess: she will be approved for the scholarship, her HAWT professor will be chef in the new restaurant and will offer her to work there, she will be so greatfull and will start falling for him.
Hmm, if it goes that way I might start watching again.

Don't care much of the "querida enemiga" Sara's new evil doings, actually I wish there were none, but it's not going to happen!

Looks like Jaime will be saved again and this time - THANKS to his drinking problem, because Vasco has to come in and pick him up.

Sorry to include Julian into the list of "fallen to the Sara's trap" - apparently he is saved right now from her evil spell. Interesting, both Maruja's kids are not falling into Sara's trap - probably their genes took after the daddy's side.

By the way, pardon my ignorance, who is HERIBERTO that everybody is so happy to see?

Hey, did y'all get the last name of the restaurant owner Raimundo (Heriberto)? It was GAITAN!!! I think the writers are having some fun with us, no?

Alonso is such a jerk, I see no redeeming quality in him. I can't root for him, not even a little. Blech. Oh, and one more thing, the ring is quite ugly and I'm glad Lorena returned it. I thought it was brave of her to face the creep and tell him she would pay him back.

Our telenovela heroes always seem to have some sort of divine guidance. Sometimes it's their favorite saint, I guess in Lore's case it's old people. Margarita, I think you're right that Lore will have to get a job at Hunky's new gig.

Wow, it sure looks like it will be an action-packed episode tonight what with Chalo sabotaging Jaime's car and all.

Thanks Kris, very witty recap and very enjoyable to read. Thanks!!

By the way, please post the recap on a side bar

Thanks Eve, I just posted it for Kris.

I think I missed something. What's keeping Jaime in bed all the time? (Obviously it's not Barbara.) Is it depression? Bad hangovers? Undiagnosed? (I don't know how I missed this, but I don't even know how long it's being going on to know which recaps to check!)

And is he a big enough star/important enough character to survive the wreck? (I sure hope we don't lose Vasco!)

Thanks for the recap K. I actually saw this episode and enjoyed most of it. How is it that Zully after working with Lorena all this time could believe she's a master manipulator? As has been mentioned, she's usually boring and quite transparent. Lorena couldn't dupe young children. Frustrating story line.

Julie - I think Jaime is bed ridden b/c of depression/guilt over betraying his brother.

Tonight does look action packed. I'm going to be very sad if either Jaime or Vasco eventually are victims of Sara as they are two of the character I like the most.

Eve, in answer to your question...Herbierto was an outrageous character on the preceding novela we recapped, Juan Querendon.

He was a gross country bumpkin who later came to the city and eventually made some surprising self-discoveries and ended up with a fellow named Pastor Gaytan.

So the combo of the fellow who played Herbierto now having the last name Gaytan is funny...and may be deliberate even though it's not the same crew of writers.

I presume it's an incestuous industry where they all watch each others shows and steal stuff when they want to.

Sometimes there's a misunderstanding between the two main characters, sometimes a deep dark secret, often both have some culpability, but in this story, Lorena is totally in the right, and Alonso is totally in the wrong. I really don't think Lorena should ever forgive Alonso.

In some ways, it's like Shakespeare's Othello. Othello (Alonso) was happily married to Desdemona (Lorena). Othello's jealous and evil buddy Iago (Sara), tricked Othello into believing that Desdemona was unfaithful. There was all sorts of "proof", including a handkerchief of Desdemona (our bra), that turned up in the supposed lover's (Chalo) possession.

Although Desdemona was good and pure, Otello didn't believe her, preferring to believe the "evidence" provided to him by Iago. He ended up strangling Desdemona, just before finding out the truth, and then killed himself!

Of course, Alonso's not going to kill Lorena, but he did push her around (something Othello also did to Desdemona when he first suspected her of infidelity).

Wow, thanks for all the analysis folks. I caught the name as Gaitan, but later realized it was Heriberto and didn't put the "coincidence" together, but that is pretty funny. Sorry, I usually don't get around to posting on the sidebar until the next day because it's a whole 'nother level.

Thank heavens this was a somewhat light episode. I confess I haven't watched this since my last recap and have only read a few caps...

Hombre de Misterio, I like your take on Otello!

Our Otello was getting close with his rage and abuse and thanks G-d it happens in Mexico and now, so at least our Desdi ( Lorena) will stay alive for awhile.

But she will definitely forgive her Otello by the end of this story and they will live happily ever after ( or may be not - we will never know).

Thanks, Fuego. Hombre^^^That was an excellent comparison of Enemiga to Othello. I guess the writers are smart enoiugh to steal from the best.

Judy B. Just stopping by to say Hello. I will read the re-caps of this show from time to time, but usually to late to say hello.

I really miss the inter-action with the folks here, but I can't seem to get into any of the Telenovelas on this blog.

Anyone ever hear from Exp.Red..she seams to have vanished into thin air...oh well, life goes on.

Judy B., I still watch Univision, but Sabador Giante, has "close captions" in english translation (CC-3) I think you know my love for "milkshakes", and this show advertise many flavors of this refreshment.

One earlier blog, you guys talked about you first vehicle, (how that came about from Enemiga?) but from the vehicles listed by the folks here, we are all about the same age, by the way, mine was a '71 NOVA - brand new.

I will check back from time to time, and maybe when the time changes back, I will try to watch Enemiga, and get back into putting my 2 cents worth in.

Love to All...Peace

Hey Anon #1! We do count on you stopping by from time to time, and glad to know all is well with you....and that you're still watching!!...just not what we're watching.

Haven't heard from Export Red. One day perhaps.

Now, just one teeny weeny little point of disagreement, Hombre de Misterio.

There is a difference between FORGIVENESS and RECONCILIATION.

Lorena should forgive Alonso because unforgiveness is a blight on the spirit. Unforgiveness ties one to the past and to the person who hurt you. You keep on telling yourself the story of your hurt and probably keep on talking about it to others. If unable to forgive, you have put yourself in the "victim" position for life.

I'm using "you" in the sense of "one"...."anyone"....

So...she should forgive but NOT RECONCILE. When you reconcile with someone who has betrayed you or hurt you deeply, you are opening yourself up to new hurt because character traits like that don't change. You may decide to take that risk but it's definitely a risk. "The best predictor of present behavior is past behavior".

Not always true, but sadly, often true.

However, as Eve said, since this is telenovela land, Alonso will "learn" from his mistake, reform completely and he and Lorena will live happily ever after.

I have read a ton of books on Forgiveness (don't ask) and one of the best is Forgive For Good by Fred Luskin.

It's even been translated into Spanish: Perdonar Es Sanar. So if you know anybody who's struggling with past pain or forgiveness issues, that's a good book to recommend....or read yourself.

Just an interesting footnote on the differences in man-think and woman-think.

When Fred, a PhD candidate at UCLA, I believe, started conducting workshops on forgiveness as part of his thesis study, fliers were passed out all around.

No men (or only one or two applied). Women applied by the hundreds.

Men perceived "forgiveness" as a wussy thing to do. No how. No way.

So they reworded it to say something about learning to let go of a GRUDGE. In this way, they got more men. Not lots. But enough to make the study valid.

JudyB....Very interesting thoughts , and I can relate to this first hand. A couple years, someone close to me did something to betray me and hurt me and then compounded the betrayal by lying to me about it. It affected me in many ways , including physically. I finally decided to forgive her and move forward. However, Hub still can't forgive the person who betrayed and hurt me. I will look for the book you recommended. I've discovered that forgiving is the easy part. The hard part is forgetting. I'm sure that Lorena will do both ..forgive and forget, and she and Alonslow will live happily ever after....even though most of think she'd be better off without him.

I think you'll like the book (hope so) Susanlynn. And the author tells his own story of hurt and needing to deal with it, plus some funny anecdotes about stubborn male participants who kept comming to the seminars but RESISTING!

He has worked with mothers whose children were killed in the IRA terrorist attacks in Ireland...so he doesn't shy away from tough cases.

And of course, obviously, it's not about saying "it's okay"...it's not. It's about find a way to leave the hurt behind so that you can appreciate and focus on all that's good and wonderful in your life.

Purdy good, K! I'm sorry about Lorena giving back that ring instead of hocking it; I hope she stops by a bookshop and picks out a title on obsessively jealous men and how to avoid the trap of believing you're in love with jerkwads like him --all blond flash, some cash and not worth a cigarette's ash. Those books do talk about other fish being in the sea, do they not JudyB? Had a boyfriend that was a mental abuser when my hubby rescued me. Took for-ev-er to realize it wadn't me what had the problem! So, Alonslow has lost my vote y punto!

I do agree that Lorena should forgive Alonso, but not reconcile with him (although she probably will do both!).

Forgiveness is good, but not always easy to do.

Yes, Calamity Cakes...one of the motivations for "forgiveness" is that once you're free of the past you're ready to notice all kinds of great things around you, aka "other fish in the sea" if that's the forgiveness issue.

Glad that great guy came along, couldn't happen to a nicer gal!

In Lorena's case though, not sure Ernesto represents a good choice.

My 2 cents on "forgiveness" from a man's perspective.

We forgive, if the forgiveness bring rewards, but we can not forget, for any reason.

Women will forgive and forget, until it happens again....then it is back to the beginning.

Boy, I miss these types of discussions.....

Good point Anon #1...forgiving means you're free of the resentment and bitterness.

But forgetting is stupid (as far as the betrayer is concerned). You now have important data concerning that person and you need to take it into account when dealing with him...or her.

And as Hombre de Misterio said...yes, forgiving is hard. That's why so many books have been written on it.

Also, even with the best of intentions and the highest degree os spirituality....there is no "instant forgiveness".

Time has to pass. You will also need time to discuss the hurt with a few wise friends.

After some more time, you can start working on the process of forgiveness...knowing it's for YOU, not for them.

And it is never never saying "it's okay" what they did. Simply moving beyond it so you can delight in the people in your life who ARE loyal and trustworthy and genuinely loving.

Whew! Time to get off my soapbox.

PS On a lighter note, how funny you are Jardinera! Loved the blond flash, a little cash and not worth a cigarette's ash. That has to be an original.

We do have a FUN group. And opininated, Lordy! I love it.

Kris, great recap, it got me mostly caught up and maybe ready to post a super quickie tomorrow. I hope. Otherwise it'll be a header only and y'all can discuss.

Loved reading everyone's comments--sorry I've been MIA, but this has been a challenging period of time for me. See you all tomorrow and I'll do the best I can without my dictionaries and my DVR.

Jeanne (on the road again)

hey Anon #1 this is late, but it's so great to have you around these parts again. Thanks for stopping by.... :)
