Querida Enemiga Monday August 4 - partial, please fill in, I'm in a tornado warning

No that's not a joke - I watched about the first third of the show but I'm going to have to call it quits for the night - Chicago area is experiencing horrible weather and I have to go take apart my patio gazebo that is blowing across the yard. I think the gazebo is a goner, looks like some of the iron bars got bent, I need to dismantle it before it blows around and breaks a fence or something. Here is what I got so far, please help in the comments and I'll paste in the body tomorrow. Thanks!

Alonso and Chalo beat the crap out of each other, Chalo spins his yarn of being lovers with Lorena, oh yeah she never had sex with YOU though did she? That leads to more punching from Alonso. He gives a great description of Sara, how she's greedy and self-centered, but of course to Alonso he says it's Lorena that is that way. He also manages to throw in that Lorena wanted to use Vasco for money but couldn't pull it off, so she settled for Alonso. And yes, he knows that he is paying for her school. We are surely headed for this week's installment of "Oh no my beca!" Also, Chalo says she now has her eyes set on her teacher. Alonso is stupid so he believes it all.

Meanwhile, Lorena is worrying and checking her phone every 30 seconds.

Outside Chalo's room, Alonso sees Sara, who puts actually tells the truth for once about how nice Lorena is, but only because she knows Alonso won't believe it and all her trust in her friend will make her (Sara) look good to him. She pretends to call Lorena but says she must be in class. Alonso asks if she shouldn't be in class too, she says "yes but I couldn't leave you alone this way." She is really playing this well, I have to give her that.

At school, Lorena's friend is reading Ernesto's book and raving about it. Lorena just keeps saying 'uh huh' and not paying attention. Ernesto arrives as Lorena is checking her phone yet again and he tells her no phones in class. She proceeds to spend the whole class staring out the window until Ernesto finally tells her to leave if she has something more important to do, she says no, sorry. He asks her to tell the class any cooking secret she knows, she says something about marinating meat and Ernesto is impressed. He says sounds good but he would have to taste it. Whenever you like, she says. Sounds flirtatious right? Not if you saw it. Lorena is lacking the flirt gene I think. For being so pretty there isn't anything really overtly sexy or 'interesting' about her, I can't think of a better way to say it. She's just blank. Like her soulmate Alonso. I guess they are perfect for each other.

Julian studies for his quiz show. He remembers how much he kicked ass on the show and feels proud of himself.

I liked this scene - Hortensia shows up at Mundo y Vida, where Diana gives her the usual ice queen look. She's good at that look, the only time she lets up on it just a little bit is with Vasco. Anyway, Hortensia offers her money to leave Vasco alone.

Outside after class Ernesto catches up with Lorena and chit chats, then he smiles and is nice to her. Lorena says he's not such an ogre after all, then clamps her mouth shut hard. Oooops. Since Ernesto has the hots for her, he just laughs and tells her to not tell anyone, it would ruin his reputation. Ha ha oh Ernesto you kidder.

Of course as they are chatting nicely Alonso and Sara show up, Alonso sees them talking, which as we all know is secret code for "they are having dirty nasty sex of a kind that you couldn't even imagine." He pouts.

Hortensia gives Diana a check for 2 Million Pesos, which she promptly tears into pieces. Hort says she'll regret that. Diana says regret keeping my dignity? I think not. She tells Hort to keep the money for the lawyers she's going to need when her parents denounce her and Jaime to the cops. Then she tells her to get out before she calls security. That was a great scene. Finally someone who doesn't kiss Hortensia's butt all the time.

After Ernesto leaves, Alonso roughly grabs Lorena to take her away someplace private to talk, and it will be their last talk ever! Watching this from afar, Sara calls Chalo and says he's going to get a BIG prize for being a punching bag.

Ok that's as far as I got - thanks in advance for your help.

Edit - Margarita has already come through with the rest of the episode, I'll copy it here. Thanks Margarita! I came out of the storm unscathed, but tomorrow I'll have to try and bend a couple of the metal poles for my gazebo back to their original shape.

- Alonslow takes Lorena to what looks like a coffee shop, but they never sit down. He calls her a tramp, and she tries to swear by Mother Asunsion (Mother Superior) and he tells her not to sully that name. She gets a good slap in, but alas, he never listens to her and finally dumps her. Wonder if he will cancel his check for her tuition or if it will be two months before Lore finds out the truth about her "beca."

- Sara comes to give Chalo his "prize," but he wants more than sex, he wants lots of money. Then he decides he wants the sex in the meantime.

- Sara thought bubbles about how she's having the best day of her life, Lorena thought bubbles about having the worse. Then Sara shows up to find out what's up and rejoices to find out they are split up. She tells Lore that she's going to talk to Alonslow and Chalo and clear this whole thing up. Lore foolishly apologizes for ever accusing Sara of trying to steal him from her.

- Alonslow has a montage of memories of runing into Chalo, etc., and decides it was all right there and he just never caught on. Doc Val comes in and he pours his grief. She tries to console him with coffee. This makes her late to the house and her cheating husband wants to know where she was (as does her meddling MIL). When she says she was taking to Al, MIL is aghast that she was talking to another man! Her boy's cheating is justified, but God forbid she talk to another man!!!

- Omar finally finds time to talk to Zule and she finally tells him she's worried he doesn't find her attractive 'cause they haven't done the deed in ages. He apologizes and says he just got caught up in the business and then the catching up on his credentials, but he still finds her attractive. Later on we see them in bed, apparently ready for round two. Guess it wasn't ED after all...

- The next day, Toribio tries to convince Alonslow to talk to Lore, and offers to go talk to her, but Al forbids it and says all that's left is for him to forget her.

- Neto sits at his couch and plays his phone messages. All are from women who want him back, and one who plans to get even because he stole a family recipe (tsk, tsk). He makes witty remarks of disdain to each of them. His latest ex comes by and tells him she had come to try to get him back, but now she realizes she was just another notch on his bedpost, like the rest of the sorry losers that left him messages, which are still going!

- Sara meets Al at the clinic, and tells him that it was all true. She just saw Lorena last night and she confessed to all the evil things Chalo said.

In tomorrow's preview, Sara's (actually Lorena's) family all attack Sara and Chalo respectively for the lies they told about Lore.

Howdy =)

Ferro, thanks for the recap, and good luck with the tornado!

Here's some stuff I remember:

I was so genuinely disturbed by the ###kery in this episode that I had to change the channel for a while. I don't know why this is pushing my buttons so much, nor why I don't quit watching it... I suppose Sara's like a composite of awful (but much less dangerous) people I've known, and I want her to PAY!!

Then the show that I had switched to got on my nerves too, so I switched back. (No, I don't ever turn the magic looky-box off, I'm afraid that the little man who lives inside it will die if I do.)

So that was great. Sounds like I still managed to catch all the worst stuff, and missed the one happy moment between Zulema and Omar.

Oh, and Chalo didn't just want money, he wanted a motorcycle I believe. I only mention it because it seemed like a very reasonable request to me, considering the risks he's been taking, not to mention the punches. He also complained about the crummy hotel room and the cheap food.

I know she doesn't want to waste a lot of money on someone she's eventually going to have to kill off, but a motorcycle would make it easier for him to do more bad deeds in less time. Plus, it would keep him happy, delaying his inevitable slide into disgruntled and blackmaily feelings. Seems like a good investment to me.

Uh oh, Julie...your strategic thinking is scaring me. You've tuned in on Sara's wave length and giving her psychic advice on how to better manipulate Chalo!

Just kidding.

Glad you were upset last night, I don't want to be the only wuss in the stable.

When Lorena was just in that dazed, stunned state I was okay (mirroring the dazed, stunned state).

But when she started to sob...oh my. And the intricacy of the lies and how they dove-tailed perfectly! Too too awful. People are going to be leaving this show in droves, I predict. It's already way down in 7th place.

The one thing I found interesting was showing how Alonso recast all his memories in a different light.

Having been through a very hurtful betrayal (a real one) , I found myself recasting all my good memories as untrue. And the bad ones, that had baffled me, now made perfect sense. " Aha! So that was why!"

Memory is very plastic (in the sense of pliable, changeable)

Ugh...any chance we could get Feonand to stop by in his great big SUV and run over both Sara and Chalo? I'll chip in.

PS Great tornado gazebo-rescuing recap! I liked your analysis on why Lorena isn't sexy. She does do innocent/vulnerable well though.
And that would explain her appeal to Ernesto. He's got hot babes comin' out the wazoo! In contrast, little lamb Lorena is wildly exotic.

Left out "Ferro" in my PS. Sorry. Now get back to that gazebo!

And PPS...Margarita...thank you too! I'm always impressed with your memory (in addition to your language skills). If I weren't officially recapping, I would forget tons of stuff (I sometimes leave it out anyway 'cause I can't read my writing)

Yummy recap from you both. Tks! Now the first thing I thought of (practical me!) was how much that rock on her finger was worth. As soon as I found out my beca was caput I would go to the nearest used jewelery store and cash it in!! I'm surprised--well, not really--that Alonslow didn't ask for it back when he broke from our sacrificial lamb, Lorena.
Ok. Second thought, that guy turned from black to white and was so violently jealous that Lorena would be better off with the cad of a chef, Ho-nesto.

P.S. I was riveted to the screen last night. This is the kind of scumbuckety stick-it-to-em by the villains that makes a telenovela worthy of the name. You can't stand seeing it happen to the good guys like that, it's soooo painful and so incredibly horrid, but then you're so upset that you have to keep coming back to see exactly how and when the good guys get even.

Considering Lorena hasn't done the deed with Alonslow I hope she ends up with a reformed Ho-nesto and A. suffers incredibly for the way he treats a woman he "loves." Maybe Papa can treat his son's mental illness along with the rest of the neighborhood's problems.

First, Ferro, I hope that you, your family, and the gazebo are all safe and sound. Second, Margarita, Julie, JudyB., and Cakes ^^^I love to read your comments. You girls are fun penpals to have. I love to read your funny, insightful comments. Third, I missed Last night's buffet of angst because I went to the mall right after work yesterday and didn't get home until 8.30 . I was searching for the elusive size 5 gold or silver heeled sandal to wear to an upcoming event. [Talk about angst.] I came home just in time to see Fuego...seeing Mighty Joe Juan did cheer me up and make me forget my aching feet for an hour. Poor Lorena...She sure does not have much of a dating pool to choose from, does she ???...Alonslow vs Don Juan, The Iron Chef ...I'd keep looking if I were she. Don Juans are ALWAYS more trouble than they are worth.... and Alonslow is....well, he's slow...and dull... and jealous...and why would she want him????

It'd be the absolute finest revenge if Lorena dated Ernesto - Don Juan or not. Sara would be miffed to see that her plan to steal Alonslow simply caused Lorena to move on to a hotter guy.

And then Sara would have to start plotting to get Ernesto. I bet he'd be immune to her charms. Heck, I bet he could still smell the dumpster on her.

Another fine bit of acting from GS last night as his face turned red in Chalo's headlock. Okay, so a reddened face is involuntary... it didn't look like makeup. I think Chalo deserves the credit for this one. :-)

I was hoping Lorena would chuck the ring at Alonso, or shove it into one of his orifices. Or possibly rip him a new one. But no.

I agree that it'd be more practical for her to hock it. But I really wanted to know what Alonso would look like with a diamond shoved up his nose. (Probably exactly the same, or looking vaguely confused.)

Susanlynn - I'll perform emergency surgery on my gazebo later, everything else was fine, just scattered patio chairs. My wife and son are vacationing in Mexico so they missed the whole thing, which is a good thing because they've never seen a storm like this and it might have freaked them out. Sometimes they are ready to head for the basement and my comment is "what storm?" Not that I'm so macho, I just grew up in IL and thunderstorms aren't anything new.

This show is turning into another case of "who cares about the protagonists." Amar did this, Duelo REALLY did this. Is making us hate the lead characters for being dumb part of the normal process writing these shows? There is a good bunch of supporting characters though so I still like the show. I just hope the revenge on Sara builds slowly over time so we can enjoy it, rather than just the last week of the show.

Ferro, I'm glad that you and your family is OK.

Thanks you both - Ferro and Margarita for the recap. I'm only following the show with the recaps now to avoid the aggravation.

I can clearly imagine the Alonslow's red face because in this telenovela he only can show the feelings of jealousy, hate and some other negative feelings. He is kind of one-sided in this sense. If he played a villan we would probably could see more of the real acting from him.

I like Julie's take on the future of Chalo - definitely, motorbike would be very helpfull to get rid of him later!

I'm glad that Zulema finally got "her sugar". I hope she still will keep her exercising.

Our Don Juan is kind of freaking me out. Is he collecting all the models? Like in high school? Check mark - done - out!
Is he having problem staying at least with someone for awhile?
Well, Lorena is definitely different, and she is a "professional virgin" so it will be interesting to see how it will be going ( I might get back to watch the show when they hook up).

Is it really the actress who is soo good so she can show to us Lorena with completely missing sex appeal? If that so - kudos to her, she is very convincing!

Ha I don't know if it is Lorena's acting that makes her so dull - maybe she has the same thing like Gabriel Soto where she just can't pull something deeper out of herself. I haven't seen her in other roles, so I don't know how she is otherwise. My wife watched her in Las Dos Caras de Ana and really liked her, so maybe it is just a great acting job. Though I'm not sure how you put yourself in a mindset of "never think about sex, even being curious, and exude zero sexuality." It's not human.

Okay...so I did see part of last night, I am sure that they have to edit the "Tool" Soto scenes. Jeez Dude take it down a notch, I'm sure they edit the spit out, cause he is damn near foaming at the mouth. This does not lead me to be enamoured with his Galan Role.

All the folks on here are very, very good or very, very bad.

Sara needs a seriously hard smack.
Everytime she squits her little ferret eyes, I am reminded of Andrea on Guapos and her eye narrowing. Okay we get it, thank you now we know you are devious.

Yep the chef, the older, suave chef is gonna fall head over heels for Lorena and be her "Angel", yes I am still sweating Aldo. But, lest we forget, Alonslow (I love it) is no Don Fernando. Jeez, unless you have a severe chronic medical condition, he is just way to dull (even when he is screaming he is dull) to put up with. Personally I have Type 1 diabetes, and unless this Tool was giving me new insulin islet cells, I be gone and trust me once the stitches healed I'd still be gone.

First of all...Susanlynn....SIZE 5 SHOES!!!!!????? Just kill me now! I was already wearing size 9 at the age of 13, size 9AAAAA width and flat as a pancake (the feet)...(well, okay, and otherwise too.) In heels I looked like Minnie Mouse. So glad you have petite feet...I love 'em...and maybe I had 'em when I was about 3.

Will have to reserve judgment on Lorena's acting skills but she does bring on the "innocent" very effectively, and manages to look dumpy most of the time in her dress up clothes (sort of middle-age frump before she actually hits that age). So either the actress and the wardrobe folks are doing a great job or else ....well, let's not go there.

I do think she's perky and cute in her white chef's jacket and cap.

Maybe Ernesto has a dark side and is attracted to child-like women. I knew an ob/gyn like that. He divorced his first wife to marry a patient who was flat as a stick, wore braces and looked about 12. Hardly a femme fatale but maybe that was a plus after dealing with adult, fertile women all day.

About Lorena --don't forget she was brought up by the nuns in a Catholic orphanage. Not unlike Mili and Gloria. You know the old cliche about getting a child before he/she is five.

I like her acting; she is definitely playing the "good girl." But she also has her moments --with Chalo, slapping Alonso, and even her little sarcastic quips about the Hot Chef's book was delivered with a certain charm. And I thought she was believably numb when Alonso dumped her. I think her character is going to grow and change. I wish i could say the same about Alonslow: minimal acting and the bit of acting he does is unbelievable. He is so UNCHARMING!!

A P.S.by NJ Sue: I think the reason Sara produces such agita in us (I just hate her scenes) is because she is so sneaky and clever and never messes up.She is the perfect sociopath! It makes you feel anxious that there could be someone in your life doing the same thing and you would never know about it. Also, she never never gets caught...although obviously in the advances scenes it looks like she does by Zulema. I'm sorry i'll be going on vacation tonight and will have to miss that episode. But I wouldn't be surprised if she somehow talks her way out of the confrontation.

My buddy from Passaic forwards NY Post articles to me and, as a result, I'm convinced that Ernesto would make a good "Guido" at the Jersey shore if he'd only "pop" his collar and wear a gold chain.

And, NJ Sue, my female colleague from Toms River has told me what "agita" is. I agree - this show induces a serious case.

BTW, I think Alonso crossed a line last night - he's abusive.

Great comments. Mike, I have relatives who live in Tom's River and Mannahawkin. Small world, no ? I love to go down the Jersey shore..Stone Harbor, Avalon, Cape May. I could love the beach. Anyhoo, my favorite character is Zulema. This actress is doing a great job...such a different role than the badmother/phone sex operator she played in Amar sin Limites. She is all padded up, so I'm sure that we will finally see her miraculous weightloss one of these days. And, bravo to Omar for finally fulfilling those marital obligations [Yikes]. Where there's a will; there's a way. And by contrast, where there's no will; there's no way. Testosterone check. I guess he's just been preoccupied lately and not in the mood for amor...as compared to Chalo, Ernesto and Julian who are probably thinking about sex 24/7...ahhh, youth.

P.S. Sara is the female equivalent of Eddie Haskell...wearing that ****eating smirk and saying ''Gee, Mrs. Cleaver.....'' while she puts the cleaver into your back. Does that make Alonslow the Beav or Wally ?????? And Lorena, of course, IS Mrs. Cleaver...Lorena should invest in a nice string of pearls.

Hah - the senior Cleavers knew Eddie Haskell was full of it. I think only little Beaver took him seriously... and even he knew better than to believe Eddie by the time he got to high school.

So that makes him smarter than Lorena. :( Sad but true.

Mike, good point about the abuse... since I'd already decided I didn't like L&A as a couple, I guess it didn't even register with me that he'd just made himself irredeemable in my eyes!

Yet as much as I hated them as a couple, it was still really upsetting to watch Sara's plan fall into place. She makes it look so easy. Like NJSue says, it's like something that someone in your own life could do.

Wow, I'm glad I never saw any "Leave it to Beaver" shows if this Eddie Haskell character is like Sara.

The precision and diabolical dovetailing of the lies just gets me. And Chalo ready to throw that bra out the door saying "I figured you'd come back for this" (knowing it was really Alonso at the door) in Friday's show was it? was just too much.

Given what Alonso believes, and the depth of the feeling he is portrayed as having for Lorena, the verbal abuse is understandable...not good, mind you...but understandable.

When a man is emotionally flooded
like that, even the most elegant explanation or apology won't get through. That's why wives are advised to wait at least 20 minutes after an argument before trying to reason it out with their husbands. (and they'd probably do better just to drag the guy off to bed, am I right guys?)

Alas, this is not an option for our convent-raised virginal heroine.

Julie, your comment must have been coming in while I was writing mine.

I guess I would have considered Alonso "irredeemable" if he'd been physically abusive and hit Lorena.

Alas, I grew up in a family where we learned to say some really harsh things to each other! (except for my dad, bless him) so I'm willing to cut people more slack for hurtful words.

But yes, the world would be much better off if we never said those things or even thought them.

(in my next life.....)

Mi Abuela used to say : ''Words once said can never be taken back.'' So true , but it's so hard not to say those words sometimes. Like you, JudyB. , I draw the line at hitting, pushing, grabbing...those actions are unforgiveable. ^^^Susanlynn who regrets saying some things she's said

So true - The best thing about not getting married until I was in my 30s was that I think I learned that lesson pretty well beforehand. There have been so many situations where saying the wrong thing would have made a bad situation worse. Of course on TV nobody ever learns that lesson, they just shoot their mouth off with no evidence or proof of anything and no consideration of what they'd have to do if they are wrong. Which is always.

Well, Ferro...you were more grown up in your thirties that I was...but I'm glad. Your wife looks like such a sweetie, you couldn't possibly get mad at her anyway!

But sometimes your kids can drive you 'round the bend. I finally learned to say (quickly) "I didn't like the way I handled that....what I wish I would have said was this...."

That seemed to help. My mom, alas, would never back down, never apologize, and could usually come back with something even worse! But hey, it's never too late to have a happy childhood, as the bumper stickers say.

Susanlynn..I'm with you. There's some things I wish I'd never said...or heard.
And try some fresh mint in your ice cold lemonade...it's the best!

Haskell was nothing like Sara. He was just a garden-variety jerk, and wasn't able to fool anyone over the age of 13. :)

As for Alonso, I felt that he was physically abusive. He didn't hit her, but he still could have hurt her with the way he was grabbing her and shoving her around.

Maybe I didn't see what I thought I saw. Maybe it's only what I felt like I was seeing. He's a lot bigger than she is. I thought he was very threatening. You definitely need to keep your hands to yourself when you're angry!

On the other hand, this is a genre where slapping is expected and desirable, so maybe everybody gets a little bit of slack for minor violence... I don't know. She did slap him... ugh, I hate them both, but he's been jealous from the start, while she's always given him the benefit of the doubt.

Good point Jules...he DID grab her, and being much bigger and much angrier, that would have been terrifying in real life.

And just think how terrified little kids must be when angry parents grab them like that...so much bigger and so important in their lives.

Oh well....where was I? I like Ernesto's looks but character-wise he just seems like another self-centered schmuck. Better-looking than Bruno but otherwise...same genre.

Maybe we are supposed to be charmed by little Lorena bringing great big Pooh-Bah to his knees...(or thereabouts)

Yes, the slapping and grabbing....this is why 2 of the first things we learn to say in Spanish when watching the novelas is ''Don't touch me !'' and ''Let me gooooo!''

Hah. I just saw Julian drink out of a glass that looks EXACTLY like the jar/glass that Dona Maria's Mole comes in.

Coincidence? Or does Zulema get her mole from a jar??

(Yeah, probably coincidence.)

Wow, Julie^^^When I first read that comment about mole in a jar , I was muy cofused. I was thinking like a mole on the face, and you were talking about the mole that you eat. Yikes . I've had students bring in mole for me ....I'm not a fan.

Thanks Ferro and Margarita! Oh man, I just got home from my "vacation" and I forgot to program Tivo to record more than 5 episodes so I missed this one and all of last week! Sure am glad they had free wifi in Kauai and I kept up with the recaps. I'm pretty bummed that I missed some of the more odious scenes. Lorena is such a boring goody-goody that I want her world to be rocked so she will grow a spine. As Ferro intimated, she is reminiscent of Duhlina from Duelo. Lorena, get it together girl!!

Funny comments y'all. I love Mole and I save the little glasses, it reminds me of when I used to collect the Flintstones Welch's grape jelly glasses.
