Caray, Caray!

Santos comes to get Marisela from El Miedo and is outraged to find her drunk and asks what kind of mother DB is. DB says, "What is the problem, Santos? We're having a family dinner, my daughter, my fiancé and me."

Pernalete taunts Antonio and says that he will be in jail for a long time.


DB asks if Marisela wants to live at El Miedo because when she dies it will all be her's. Marisela says that she wants to stay overnight at least. As Santos is leaving, Eustaquia tells him not to leave Marisela at El Miedo for very long - this isn't a good place for her or anyone.

Marisela tells DB that Santos doesn't believe that she is sincere but she believes that DB loves her. Then she starts to feel sick. Marisela says that everything is spinning around and asks Eustaquia if there is an earthquake. Eustaquia asks Marisela what got into her head to start drinking at her age. Marisela says that it wasn't her head, it was her mother's idea. "And who said that DB knows how to be a mother?" replies Eustaquia.


DB listens as Eustaquia tells Marisela why DB has never shown her any affection before.


Santos and his vaqueros get Pernalete out of bed about Antonio but he refuses to do anything.


DB comes in and tenderly looks at Marisela when she is sleeping. Eustaquia prays that the miracle that softens DB's heart will be her daughter.

The next morning Marisela is helping Eustaquia make arepas . Marisela says that she makes them faster but Eustaquia makes them better. Eustaquia says that Marisela's aunt has taught her many things but not how to knead (amasar).


The Altamira vaqueros eat breakfast each one thinks to himself that he should tell the truth and sacrifice himself for his friend Antonio but that would mean marrying Federica and ... no no no! Carmelita excuses himself to get his hat and has a quickie with Federica in the bathroom.


Marisela's enjoyment of a guayaba (guava) that Juan Primito brings her triggers a memory in DB of when her true love brought her the same fruit. She leaves the dining room.


Santos' visit to Pernalete in business hours doesn't go much better than the earlier one. Pernalete won't tell him who has made the accusation against Antonio. But Santos is confident that Mujiquita will produce the information and he does. Santos and Cecilia decide to go visit the woman.


The sleaze, Quitadolores, puts the moves on Marisela. The guy who plays QD is very good. Without saying anything, you can really see that in hooking up with DB, he has gotten in way over his head.


Eustachia comes to see what is wrong with DB. DB says that she doesn't understand it. Ever since Marisela returned to El Miedo, DB has felt stupid. Eustaquia says it is because DB is becoming human. She finally loves her daughter.

But DB dashes Eustaquia's hopes that Marisela can help DB get her humanity back. While Marisela overhears, DB says that she can't love Marisela. DB says that she is consumed with envy at how innocent and trusting Marisela is even after all the things she has done to her. She says that she brought Marisela to El Miedo to get Santos back and she can't believe that Marisela is stupid enough to believe her lies. She says that she hates Marisela because she can't love her.
