QE - 10-1 Wed. Will the real nieta please stand up, please stand up...

We start with Lore finding out that crazy Moni slept with Ern first and that playing by the elementary school rules, she possesses him since she had him first and Lore has to leave him. Interesting, so this is how it works eh? Gosh if I can get them while they are young and first, then they are mine? Interesting concept.

Ern wants to talk to Lore, who says this isn't the place or time. We'll talk later. Ern says as you wish.

Barb is on a bender, a perfect opportunity for Sara to mock her about Chalo. Barb says Sara she corrupted Chalo and all this is her fault, Sara says not to make her laugh, oh and she just better keep on drinking. She takes Sara's advice.

Catalina greets Icky and Jacqui with the happiest of smiles and wonders who cooked the dinner. J and I look at each other and J says, no one did, these are leftovers from lunch. Catalina happy wishes them a good meal and saunters off. They are amazed at her unusually light air.

Meanwhile Tori talks to himself that Catalina has the name of a queen. Just then Al comes in and tells him that his friend is going to run the DNA test personally, so they will have the results very quickly.

Sara shows up and greets them. They all make nice nice.

Chalo is looking for an apt. and curses that everything reminds him of Barb.

Sara shows up with dinner for the boys, but they already ate. Tori takes his leave and so she asks Al if he isn't glad to see her. he says yeah, but it would have been better if she had notified him first, he's tired and has something early. She is sad that they haven't seen each other in so long and he acts like this.

Lore agrees to talk to Ern even though they are still at the restaurant.

Sara wants to convince Al that she is the perfect woman for him and he needs to forgive her. He begs her not to make him be rude.

Ern explains that his tryst with Moni was before they were together. Lore wonders why he never told her, and he says that he didn't think he needed to make a list. She's peeved he didn't tell her because he was starting to court her, yet slept with the other and he says it wasn't important. She thinks that's bad and worries if he sees relations so casually if he sees it the same way with her. He tries to convince her this has nothing to do with her. Lore thinks this has everything to do with them since they became *pause* a couple. Ern has already forgotten, and Lore reminds him obviously Moni hasn't and he says that's not his fault, and what he has with Lore is special. Lore thinks maybe Moni thought the same thing, and now she understands why Moni hates her. Anyway, it goes on on this course until she finally says she needs to be alone and she leaves.

But she just doesn't leave, she resigns, saying that she's just too busy with school and her other job. Everyone is sorry that she can't stay, except for Moni who makes a big smile when Lore walks out. Eeewww, I'd like to smush her face in. Ern just calls himself stupid for messing with Moni. Yeah dude, duh.

Julian goes to see Jaime and Maru and they thank him for all he's done to encourage their couple hood. Uh oh. Maru thinks maybe they should have a double wedding. Julian is guardedly optimistic.

Vasco comes up the next day to find his hungover Ma. She promises not to drink ever again. He hopes that's true because she needs to look after Abuela so Sara doesn't get her way. Barb agrees with that.

Lore says she wants to go to her pueblo to clear her head. Rossy knows more is up and wants her to spill the beans. Finally she says it's true, she's feeling horrible because Ern slept with Moni and she thinks she might have to end it. Oh, please. Anyway, she is afraid she's yet another in his collection. Rossy thinks she's not and that he really loves her. She begs Rossy not to tell anyone where she went. Rossy says she'll try.

Lore says goodbye to Rossy and Julian. Rossy is still bitter about Jaime, "that guy" and gets mad when she finds out that Julian has tried to make amends. Further, she is impactada when she hears of her Mom's plans re the double wedding.

Barb is running and having quite a time of it. Chalo surprises her.

Rossy thinks the double wedding is the nacoest thing ever. Julian loses his cool and begs her to make her Mom happy with this. She agrees only if she gets to plan all the details.

Chalo professes his love to Barb but Barb thinks he was only after her for her money. She tells him to leave. He is so affected by her words and reminds her he's never asked her for anything. She calls him horrible commoner names and doesn't want to see him anymore, she swears he'll always be a naco to her.

Tori and Catalina are walking happily in the park when Pa gets a call from Al saying that Sara is not child of Zully, and Teresita neither. Tori reaffirms that the real nieta has to be Lore. Tori cancels his date because he has to go home. She wants to go with, but he says he'll call later and she walks off.

Jaime goes to the office and remarks that he's worked almost his whole life here, and Vasco reminds him well it's still his business. He hands him the balance sheets. Just then Sara interrupts and learns that Jaime will take Vasco's place while he's traveling. She leaves.

When she gets to her office none other than our resident Chalo is there and he's up to extortion tactics again and begs for 2 million pesos (nearly 1 million $) or he'll squawk. Sara just balks.

Rossy is doubling the items for her wedding when Ern shows up looking for Lore.

Back at the office, Chalo says he'll give her 1 week and nothing more, and warns she'll be sorry if she plays dirty with him.

Rossy doesn't know where Lore is but that she needed to be alone. Ern tells her to let him know when she returns because he really needs to talk to her.

Julian leaves and Rossy calls Lore's cell to let her know Ern came looking.

Next we see Lore on a bus recalling when she and Ern kissed first, and then fought about Moni.

Tori and Al are pouring over the test and Al thinks all he has to do now is prove Lore is the real nieta. Tori offers to go to Maru's house and retrieve something that belongs to Lore. Al is appreciative.

At the restaurant, Ern shows up and oh Moni made this nice little card for him. He's like, what, are you five? He has no time for this childishness and doesn't want anything with her, doesn't love her and loves Lore like no one ever. He says if Moni can't leave it alone he might have to talk to Pa. Just then Papa comes out and wonders why he's harsh on baby girl.

Vasco goes in to Abue and learns from the nurse nothing has changed and lets them know he's going away.

Ern tells Moni's Pa he's leaving the restaurant. Pa wonders if it has to do with Lore and that personal stuff shouldn't interfere. Pa says he'll be ruined if he leaves. Ern says he'll promise to train his coworker to prepare the menu and no one will know the difference. There's a ringing endorsement of your executive chef skills! Moni says she'll miss him and Pa says he can't leave. Ern says that's my final word so take it. Moni tells herself she got rid of Lore and now she's losing Ern anyway.

Tori goes to see Rossy and makes small talk about the wedding. finally he asks to use the bano. Instead he goes into Lore's room and pulls out a bunch of hair brushes. To sneaky music he puts them in a sack and tucks them under his coat. He comes out and says he has to go now and thanks her.

Zully is on the phone with Di. Julian breaks to his Ma that the wedding will be double and like the good Ma that she is, Zully says well then you better find someone else to accompany you to the church because I'm not going. Nice.

Tori shows Al the spoils and they confirm it's blond hair and that it will work.

Ern tells his staff he's quit. The staff is swift and knows it's because of what happened. He won't tell anyone why. But Rossy and Maru double team him when he comes out and tell him if he loves Lore he needs to tell her, and he tells them he needs to know where she is. They still don't tell.

Lore shows up at the orphanage and the nuns are happy to see her.

Betti and Ivan are practicing dancing when Dario comes in and thinks something else is up. He wants Ivan to leave. Pau comes out and wants to know what all the yelling is about. She tells Dario to stop it, and makes him come back with her and tells the kiddies to keep on.

Al and Tori are eating when they get a call. It's Sara, Tori says Al is gone and may not come home until morning, but he'll tell him she called. He's proud of himself for playing her.

Lore remembers fond times with Sara, bad times with Sara, good times with Ern, and Moni yelling. She wonders when she will ever be completely happy.

Sara is trying to figure out how to get the money Chalo wants, she thinks she can take advantage of Vasco's trip.

The nuns are worried about Lore and her decisions, and she reveals that Ern slept with another while he was trying to win her over. Of course they nearly fall over at this news. They understand that she is afraid that he hasn't changed.

More news we are about to fall over is this: Al and Tori get the results back. Al reads the whole thing to us, and sure enough, Zully and Lorena are mother and daughter with 99% accuracy. Impactado faces and cut.

Thanks, k! Great to have this so early in the morning! You said everything I felt, too. What kind of kindergarten mentality leads to not only hurting said intended target, but all the ramifications, i.e., Papa Rai's literal gravy train to boot being spilt all over the tracks! Papa Rai should realize that this guilt/endulgence thing over Monica's earlier years growing up estranged from him has got to end or he'll be bankrupt in no time! The heart and soul of this restaurant is Chef Ernie. Lose him and within a year that restaurant is history.

The bright spot is the DNA results. Cheers and tears at the end last night. Slow is making up for lost time. Maybe he's not such a loser after all, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Lorena no longer sees him as anything but a brother after steaming the sheets up with the likes of Ernie. It's got to be like comparing Dom Perignon to Asti Spumante without the fizz.

Ooooh Cakes, a 10 from the Russian judge - "Asti Spumante without the fizz", ouch! I couldn't agree more. Good for Ern for leaving the restaurant. Even though I said yesterday it's what he should do I was surprised he did it. It's such a grown up maneuver. Lor's resignation was also very mature.

Poor Chalo, I have the feeling he put the squeeze on Sara just a bit too hard last night. She does NOT want to dip into her Cayman account to pay him. I think the anvils and hammers are lining up.

Oops, I published instead of previewed. I'm not done mouthing off yet.

OK Tori and Cat had their second date. By Susanlynn's reckoning she'll start showing her true colors on or about their next date. Or does this one only count as half a date? She's kind of creepier when she's nice. I like Tori's character, he's good comic relief.

Raymundo was back on screen last night. Does this mean he might be back in the picture for Paula? Poor Dario is like a bull in a china shop.

The double wedding idea seems kind of rushed and weird. Maybe it's just a plot device to bring this warring family thing to a head. Still, it felt odd.

Awesome recap Kris! I can't believe you did this from youtube in between surfing, sunning, vacationing and going to the wedding. You rock!

Thank you for the wonderful recap Fuego de Rosca de Reyes. I loved your comment that Monica possesses Ernesto by virtue of elementary school rules becuase "I had him first". What a spoiled, immature girl. To me, she dropped "Sara lite" status and ascended to vilaness. As others have pointed out, she hasn't killed anyone (yet) but her cruel act dictates her fate is never to be with Ernie.

Calamity Cakes: Yes, here's hoping Lorena will remember her strong physical and emotional connection with Ernesto. They have so much in common - their love of cooking, the children, the list goes on and on. I just don't see Alonso being able to compete. Your comparison between Dom Perignon and Asti Spumanti (fizzless) was pricelss.

Cap'n Sylvia: I am also glad Raymundo is back. He is a great match for Paula and from what we have been seeing, her reconcilation with Dario isn't working.

I'm happy but surprised the truth about Lorena's parentage is coming out now. It looks like we will be able to see Omar, Zulema, Julien, Diana and Lorena enjoying each other. It will be nice to see the "true" family together now rather than waiting until the last 10 minutes of the final episode.

Sara is sure to lose everything once the truth comes out. But, she never let that stop her before! She started with nothing and stole and lied her way into a false identity and an entire life. I wouldn't discount her for a minute. She will rise again from the ashes and find another way to wreck havoc and mayhem from wherever she ends up! I can't wait to see what happens! Diana in MA

I just wanted to add that my favorite scene of last night's episode was Tori wiping his cheek (with disgust) after Sara kissed it. Excellent! Diana in MA

That was great Diana! Tori rocks. I'll bet the actor adlibbed it.

My favorite was the reading of the DNA results, which was done just the way they do it on Don Francisco. Each week someone wants to find out if the hijo is really his. This guy in a white coat comes out and almost always says (in Spanish) "Based on the results obtained in the DNA analysis of (father) and (kid), the probability of paternity is 99.9%". Everyone cheers, cries, etc. This was done the same way, with Alonso opening the envelope and reading the thing out loud.

My favorite was when Tori hung up the phone and then stuck his tongue out at it!

Emilia, hat was another fun moment. The fact that Sara is completely oblivious to the reactions to her less than desirable charms makes it even more enjoyable. Diana in MA

..And , the winner is....Lorena. [The crowd goes wildddddd.] That Tori is a card...wiping off the Sara kooties from his cheek and sticking out his tongue at the phone as he finishes talking to her. I hope that this cool abuelo does not get involved with Arturo's Wicked Mamacita. It's been my experience that one can only coverup a nasty personality for a limited time ...then, that nasty just has to start oozing out. Mileage may vary, to quote our blog mamacita....but I'm predicting Date Numero Tres is when the curtain will rise and Tori will stare into the real face of Mamacita Crankypants.

Do we know for sure that she's a completely nasty person?

We've seen her acting nasty around Valeria and Jacqui (and Barbara too? I don't remember if they ever met)... but from what I understand, women sometimes incur special wrath that no one else can, just by having the gall to spend time with Mama's precious boy.

Have we ever seen her be nasty to anyone else?

Maybe having a boyfriend will calm her down.

But if not, that will be fun too. :)

I think Torbi is going to wind up with the Merry Widow and not Ickturo's mother. Even though she's such a pill, it was nice to see her happy after her first date with Torbi. In terms of romance, love springs eternal and changes a bruja into a smiling teenager.

Ernesto is such a guy!! He needs to take some lesson from the other Mendiola --Fernando of LFMB-- in how to talk a woman into something. He just seemed overwhelmed when Lorena confronted him. It is such a typical male reaction --to react and recoil from the emotion rather than relate to the message. Ern should be on his way to the Orphanage to let Lorena know how much he cares. It will be interesting if he goes and meets Alonslow and his dad when they are there to break the news about Lorena being the real daughter of Z. and O.(Hopefully this wont happen).
NJ sue

Great recap!

Although Lorena's thinking she might have to dump Ernesto was maybe a bit extreme, I did like how she dealt with the situation. Her concerns were rational, and she stated them calmly and clearly, rather than shrieking and whatnot. Seems like a lot of telenovela ladies in this situation would just carry on about his wilder past and not specify what, exactly, is bothering them. Hope Ernesto beats Alonso to the convent.

NJ Sue, Your comment on Ernesto "reacting and recoiling" to his confrontation with Lorena was right on target. He should have fought harder and not buckled under the pressure.

I would like to see Ernesto find Lorena before Alonso does too but Rossy wouldn't tell him where Lorena was. I don't think the orphanage is a place Ernesto would think to look (unfortunately).

Timing is everything. It looks like Alonso will find and tell Lorena about her parents while she's still in her vulnerable state, confused about Ernesto. I'm hoping her love for Ernesto will override any lingering feelings she may still have for Alonso. Diana in MA

Hombre, that's exactly what I thought! This sounds just like Don Francisco's little paternity segments!! I know they do it on other shows too. It was really funny and the first time I've ever heard it revealed that way in a novela!

I still want Ern, but I'm starting to see how the writers are going to whore us back over to Al's side. He's going to be the knight who gives her much more than love, he gives her her family and identity back. What a guy. I predict she won't believe him at first though and maybe we'll have a while of oh you are just trying to get me back crap. Sigh.... at least he's got a clue now!! :)

Let's see, Ern: mature, good-looking, good sense of humor, capable of showing a range of emotions and loves to cook; Alonslow, immature, obstinate, pig-headed, one dimensional, obsessive compulsive, pill-pusher - Gee, Lorena its a no brainer!

But, all of you ladies hopes notwithstanding, Gabe Soto shares top billing, so he's bound to wind up with our Sweetheart of the Cross!

Kris, great title and recap! Thanks! (Yikes, were you up all night to post this??)

“Lore finding out that crazy Moni slept with Ern first and that playing by the elementary school rules, she possesses him since she had him first and Lore has to leave him” LOL! Monica is, as you and several commenters have noted, one of the MOST immature TN characters of her so-called adult age we’ve ever seen.

“Maru thinks maybe they should have a double wedding. Julian is guardedly optimistic.” Personally, I thought this idea was just ill-advised. What a dumb idea, to steal your daughter’s thunder at her first and it is to be hoped ONLY wedding. What is Maruja thinking? And with Jaime to boot!

“Ern says he'll promise to train his coworker to prepare the menu and no one will know the difference. There's a ringing endorsement of your executive chef skills!” ROTFL!!! I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you are so right!

Calamity Cakes/Jardinera, you are so hysterically funny! Asti Spumante without the fizz, that’s our Slow.

Chalo is wearing out his welcome, I agree, Sharkbait. It’s only a matter of time for the poor boy. I hope you’re right and Rai is back for a while. I think he might do well for Greta if she can quite throwing herself at men who don’t want her. But, he’d be even better for Paula and maybe Dario and Greta could irritate each other forever.

Diana in MA, Tori was cute, all right I loved seeing him wipe that kiss away, too. And Emilia, I’’m with you on Toribio sticking his tongue out at the phone when he hung up on Sara—do you think this guy’s having fun with this role or what?

Susanlynn, what can we say? “I'm predicting Date Numero Tres is when the curtain will rise and Tori will stare into the real face of Mamacita Crankypants.” ROTFL! That’s a classic!

Riberajoe, most of us are rooting for Ernesto at the moment, notwithstanding who has so-called top billing. Lon Chaney had top billing in Dracula, too.
