Cuidado con el Angel - Monday, Dec. 8 - let the games begin!
Episode 53:
* Nellie with a huge smile on her face runs downstairs to tell Steffie and Blanca about her wonderful phone call with JM; Viv's returning home! Nellie tells Balbina to prepare the bedroom and everything for her arrival.
* MC and Cande talk in the front of the hacienda. MC is taking her laundry down to the river to do; Cande reminds her that the house has a full-service laundry room inside; MC prefers the outdoors; Cande is worried about MC and the baby; MC assures her that she'll be fine and leaves. Cande has a bad feeling about it.
* At the river, MC hangs the laundry on the rocks and trees to dry. She talks with her little dove and puts it on a rock. Cisco spies from a nearby tree as MC walks down to the riverbank, and takes a plunge to swim in a shallow pool.
* Nellie, Steffie and Blanca are at the stairs when JM and Viv walk inside. Nellie skips over to welcome Viv back home. Viv is dazed and looking around. JM asks her if she recognizes anything?
* MC continues with her swim and sees Cisco spying on her.
* JM talks with Viv - Viv doesn't recognize anything. JM tells Blanca to get Mayita and bring her to see her mom. Blanca leaves.
* MC is angry and tries to leave. Cisco stops her.
* Mayita runs down the stairs and up to mommy and talks with her. Viv stares at her. Everyone observes the moment, including JM who is suspicious.
* Cisco tells MC that he's not as bad as the rumors make him. MC hopes not and gives him some advice. She starts to leave. He says that this is the second time he's seen her at the river.
* Mayita asks Viv about coming to her school. Viv has a flashback to that moment, but asks like she doesn't remember a thing. Blanca and Nellie walk Viv and Mayita out of the hall. JM and Steffie talk.
* Cisco and MC talk, mention how "Leopardo" Don Omar owns all the land. MC reminds him to just come over and talk to her instead of spying next time. He smiles. She leaves.
* MC walks her bike and the laundry and her little dove back up the hill - she thought bubbles to herself.
* Ceci meets with Padre at the church again about where MC is? Padre is still refusing to reveal MC's location.
* Ed visits JM at the castle living room. They discuss Viv's reactions and non-reactions to visiting Mayita at her school. They also discuss Viv's odd behavior.
* Ceci remembers talking with MC.
* Amador is at a restaurant. Ed stops by the table, to talk about Bea and her baby. Amador refuses to accept his responsibility. (correction by riberajoe) Amador told Eduardo that the baby was not planned.
* Nellie and JM talk during breakfast.
* Ed tries to reason with Amador - instead Amador refuses, laughs. (correction by riberajoe and julia:) After Ed extolled Beatriz's virtues, Amador said, "then you marry her!" and Ed said, "that's a good idea!" Ed leaves.
* JM and Nellie discuss MC and then the odd reactions by Viv when she returned home. JM leaves.
* In the hallway, JM and Blanca discuss Viv's return. Blanca asks if Viv knows about MC.
* Vincente visits Rocio in the hospital (Rocio is back to having her full head bandaged again). She's happy to see him.
* JM explains to Blanca how Viv's reappearance in his life invalidated his marriage to MC and that MC has disappeared. Add by riberajoe and pasofino: When Blanca mentioned to JM that Mayita was waiting for MC to return, she also mentioned Mayita was waiting for MC to return with a little brother/sister for her. JuanMi gets the "confused" look.
* Vincente cries to Rocio about how he's missed her. Doctor interrupts to check on Rocio's bandaged head.
* Nellie sits and talks with Viv in the living room. Nellie has to explain who Steffie is and why she's in the castle/she's just a close friend of JM - a short lived fling, nothing to worry about now. Viv then asks about MC.
* MC and Magda (Padre's sister) sit outside and talk about Cisco at the river. (addition by Margarita) Micaela tells Mari that there’s nobody in town to deliver her baby. One doctor is too old, another is a drunk, and the last one is Omar/Leopardo!
* Don Omar "Leopardo" sits in his office and finds a paper with JM's name on it. He looks upset. (addition by Margarita) where O/L looks pissed at JM’s name, we find out he’s just surprised to find the note and that they were actually buddies once upon a time. O/L wonders what his old buddy’s up to.
* Viv asks about MC again. Nellie tries her best to deflect and tells Viv not to worry about her; just concentrate on being home again, darling.
* JM visits with Padre in the hospital corridor. JM asks him about MC and Cande. Padre tells him that they are fine and well taken care of. Padre doesn't reveal where they are.
* MC sits on a log and thinks.
* JM visits Rocio at the hospital. They discuss MC and what little information Padre told him about her. She asks if he loves her. He says yes, but that MC has to be out of his life because of Viv.
* Steffie and Isa are at their little apartment window, discussing Viv's return home.
* Viv, alone in her bedroom, smokes a cigarette and lays on the bed. JM enters the room and comments about her knowing how to smoke. She puts out the cigarette and then starts to seduce JM with a sensual kiss on the lips. JM pulls back and refuses. She tries to seduce him again. He has to explain how and why they are no longer together intimately. He leaves. She's frustrated.
* JM talks with Blanca in the front hall - he tells her to move all his clothes and stuff to another room. Blanca will do that after she checks on Mayita. She leaves.
* In the bedroom, Blanca is gathering JM's clothes together and talking to Balbina about JM's orders. Balbina leaves. Soon after, Viv enters and goes ballistic about Blanca touching JM's clothing. Blanca has to calmly explain JM's orders.
* JM drives his car at night, and thinking about MC.
* Viv in a fit of jealousy yells at Blanca about JM's orders. Nellie has to enter and send Blanca out of the room. Nellie has to calm Viv down.
* In her bedroom, Blanca locks the door and cries. She sits and takes off her glasses.
* Nellie talks with Viv about letting JM have his way and move his things to another bedroom.
* Amador pops his head in the window. Steffie welcomes him into the apartment, much to Isa's chagrin. Isa goes to get some coffee. Steffie and Amador discuss their plan to find out where MC is.
* MC sits by the fireplace, remembering her wedding day to JM. She cries from her heartbreak.
* Isa joins Amador and Steffie in the discussion of their plan to find MC - he is sure that Padre knows where she is, but is keeping it some deep dark secret.
* Alone in her bedroom, Viv smokes her cigarette and thinks about where JM is? and with whom?
* JM is at the nightclub, thinking. Ivette the tramp pops out from around the corner and eyeballs JM.
* Amador visits Padre in the church rectory. He asks Padre where MC is.
* JM reaches for his drink. He turns and looks as Ivette pulls a glass of champagne by him.
* Amador and Padre discuss MC's location - Padre still won't reveal the actual location, only that she's fine and that he will be visiting her next Tuesday.
* Amador uses his cellphone to call Steffie with the news about Padre's visit to MC next Tuesday - Steffie is very intrigued about their plan to follow Padre.
* Ivette and JM share a clink and a drink at the bar.
* MC and Cande outside the hacienda. They discuss MC's desire to get the nursery ready for her little baby now. (addition by Margarita) Mari tells Cande she wants to use the little money she has left from her TV gig to find a hospital in another town to deliver her baby and Cande thinks it’s a good idea. MC leaves.
* On the dirt road, Don Omar rides up alongside MC and yells at her for walking alone. MC explains she's going to the river. He can't believe she's not scared. (addition by Margarita:) O/L and Mari have a very silly exchange of her saying she’ll come back when she wants and him telling her he doesn’t care and won’t be waiting. She continues on her way. He turns his horse around and returns to the hacienda.
* Cisco lies in wait in the bushes and spies on MC arriving at the riverbank.
ADVANCE: MC falls into Cisco's bear trap and Don Omar has to rescue her. Viv and JM continue to play their cat and doctor games.

thanks for the recap that you were kind enough to provide so quickly! everything seems to be getting so complicated now. judging from the credits how blanca and ivette are played by one person this girl probably has split personality or something and El Leo was crying about the Ivette personality and he seems to hate JM also judging by his angst when he read the paper. ahh the small small world of telenovelas. and steffie needs to get a life stalking poor MC, she's gone like everyone wanted now leave her alone! does anyone know what 'ora le' means? I hear MC say it a lot does it mean pray for him or something??

Thanks for your lightning recap Jody! It looks like we’ve gone from no real side plots to a whole mess of them! Thanks to you and the rest of our fab recappers for keeping them straight. I guess we’re to believe that just like Al in Guapos didn’t realize that the girl that sang at the Rodeo and the maid at his house were the same people, JM will have no clue that Blanca and Ivette are the same person (unless they’re twins, but I still think it’s a split personality). He does say she reminds him of someone, but he obviously can’t imagine his mousy nanny and this barfly could be the same person.

Good morning Eeyore. Thanks for the well-organized recap. Re: you question on Melinama's line.... Posting the previews is not a "spoiler" because it was shown to all the night before on TV. And of course half the time those wily writers make us THINK something bad is going to happen when it doesn't. Just like those darned commercial breaks that come when someone is looking really really worried or mad, and after break they smile and say "The operation was a great success!" Man, how many times have I fallen for that one.
I loved Juan Miguel's confused look when Ivette/Blanca vamped him at the bar. He does "confused" really well. Not sure how he got through med school but if I'd sat next to him I would have been happy to let him copy my paper!

What is the note that Omar was reading with JM's name on it? Someone mentioned that Omar was one of the few who could deliver MC's baby. Is he a doctor then, not practicing now, and that's how he knows JM, from medical school?

Will he ever be able to put this all together? Of course, with Vivi and Onelia yapping at his heels and Stefi appearing out of no where, the man has got to be distracted.
We must be in for a long haul of no direct interaction between JuanMi and Mari. JuanMi said that after Mari he could never love another. That now remains to be seen.

Great recap! I am new to this telenovela but with your meticulous recappers I am getting up to speed. I do have a question concerning: "He has to explain how and why they are no longer together intimately." Would you be able to fill me in on this? I know that there was an accident and they thought Viv was dead. Then she showed up in Spain and tried to steal her friend's husband. She's obviously muy mal.

I am struck by the fact that Rene Strickler now has Chiclet teeth like Aldo Domensain. I don't think he used to look like that.
I think all these actors are eventually sent to Caps 'R Us because they ALL have blinding smiles. Makes the rest of us normal folk look dingy. Oh well...

It was great to see the Ivette character have some material she could really sink her teeth into. The actress seems to shine in the role of seductress.

I like Vicente also. Unfortunately I missed all of the storyline with him and Rocio as I was not watching the show then. I had no clue who they were when I first started watching, when they were both in the hospital. This doctor definitely will come between them. What's with his holding Rocio's hand last night and kind of pushing V out of the way. Not nice!

I agree, Diana, the Vicente actor is top-notch. The subtle look of pain on his face when the new doctor was holding Rocio's hand (what the heck?!) was well-done.
I also loved the series of expressions on JM's face when Ivette was trying to seduce him in the bar. Priceless.
Poor JM is just not bright enough to put all this evidence together. I think he is just OVERWHELMED. Like someone said earlier, he can't handle one woman, and now he's got FOUR, who are all hiding things from him. Not to mention coping with his heinous MIL and his lovely but imaginative and excitable daughter.
Amador and Stef are unbelievable. Did anyone else notice how she was holding his hand when he came to the apartment? I think she just automatically treats all men as her novio.

Riberajoe, I'd forgotten about that Amador-Eduardo exchange! After Ed extolled Beatriz's virtues, Amador said, "then you marry her!" and Ed said, "that's a good idea!"

I have not being commenting lately. I enjoyed reading your comments and recaps.
I think the novela is getting more involved. The writers had to add more episodes to the original because this novela is popular in Mexico. They want to keep it on longer because of its popularity. I was on the Youtube just watching some future randomly. I get myself confused, so I decide to stop and hang in there with all of you and watch it nightly on TV.
The comment on these Youtube are full with four words and nasty remarks. I thought, but didn't comment if they didn't like it so much why watch!
I like commenting here and hearing you folk because of the nicer way of commenting even on unfavorable characters and stories. What I am saying, "We have better commenters, here."
I am wondering why all these people keep talking about Marichuy. When she was around, lots of people didn't want her around. This includes Juan Miguel. He break up with her and now he wants to know where she is. Let her go! You have too many women after you especially now - Vivana(psycho wife who is capable of anything), Onelia(overbearing, controlling mother-in-law), Estefania, aka. FAKEY(the ex-girlfriend/fiance who will use every opportunity to sneak around and still hang on any part of Juan Miguel), and Bianca/Ivett(the mysterious, psycho-to-be, crazy-to-be nanny). Juan Miguel has to clean up his life involving these women. Only then can he think of anything good with Marichuy.
I do like Rene Strickler as El Leopard. We know that it only time that he will fall in love with Marichuy. I think Marichuy is way a lot better than Bianca/Ivett in personality and appearance. I knew when I first saw Bianca that I wouldn't like her at all.
What is JUAN MIGUEL doing drinking at a lounge? Does he remember what liguid did to him that create Marichuy to leave him? Also I thought he decide to make a way with Vivana - why is he interested in another woman like Ivett? She looks like a tramp the way she dressed(looking for a one night stand). One minute he is thinking about Marichuy and then another minute he is drinking and pick up trampy women.
This moment (towards the end of last nigh) I didn't like Juan Miguel at all. I decide to root for El Leopard instead of Juan Miguel for Marichuy. I know he has a nice body and all, but sometimes I think he is idiot or thinks with his . . . . . I am going to be civil. Somewhere in the future, I know that I will change my mind on Juan Miguel, but for the time being he is making some bad decisions.
I still think Marichuy is better off at the hacienda. There she only has one person who is out to get her(Pirana). We know that El Leopard is grumpy now, but will improve his behavior in a few nights from today.

Thanks for the recap. I am flipping back and forth between this show and Dons Barbara. William Levy and the blonde girl were lovers in Pasion. I wonder if he will succumb to her charms in this novela.

I think Dr. San Roman is smarter than he may appear at this point in the story.... (Yes, I admit to thinking "Why would CCEA make the hero a professional, but also a moron?")

Violet – we don’t know what the note was or if it was actually written by JM or just mentioned him. Omar is a doctor, and according to Micaela made a pretty good living before it all hit the fan (no clue what his specialty was). Mari guessed he must know JM and we know she’s right. Chances are he either met him at med school (‘cause in fantasy TN world there is only one med school in the world, one hospital per town, only one judge per city, etc) or in some conference (JM loved those conferences).
Teresita – I’m guessing you speak of Viv and JM’s intimacy. As far as I know that was alive, if not well, before her disappearance (she asked for a divorce because he wasn’t spending enough time with her). So far he’s said that they should put that on hold until she either recovers her memory or has been able to build new ones and re-start the relationship. He expressed concern that she was just trying to please him because it was expected, and not because it was what she wanted. We know in reality he just doesn’t want to be with anyone except Mari, at least for now.
Julia, I’m right there with you on dating your doctor, ESPECIALLY your gyno, it would ruin all the mystery.
Genevieve, I think JM has learned to keep his drinking under control (we’ve seen him have a drink here and there without getting drunk) and he probably just went to the bar to get away from the house. I don’t think he had any intention of picking up a woman and I seriously hope nothing comes out of this encounter or I too will want to switch to team Omar.

Thank you, Margarita, for explaining about the note and the possible Omar/JM medical school connection. I was guessing he was a doctor, but if I spoke Spanish I'm sure I would've picked that up while watching the show since you said they mentioned it. Did Micaela (Padre's sister) mention it? I thought it was also pretty weird that Eduado saw his ex (I think she is anyway)for a visit in his office. Did he examine her?? That is just not right! Love everyone's input.
Violet, yes, Micaela mentioned he was a doctor. And yes, Eduardo examined Elsa and gave her a pregnancy test. Very unethical, but it was free and she was broke (I still wouldn't have done it, but I live in the real world ;)
Why was it unethical for Ed to examine Elsa? They have a history together, but there's no reason I know of why she shouldn't still choose him to be her doctor if she wants to. As much as *I* wouldn't want a doctor I was personally involved with, it's actually not uncommon, especially in small towns where there may only be one doctor. I think it's only unethical if the doctor lets his personal relationships affect his practice or uses the doctor relationship to pressure women into dating him, things like that.
No, Julia, not unethical, just....I believe the technical term is "icky-poo". Man, the things you're willing to do (Eva) when you're short of cash.
To answer people's question about Omar/JM relationship..they did go to the same med school, and were very good friends. Both of these men will vye for Marichuy's love, but of course in the end Mari will choose JM..!!! I mean that's just how novelas work out, and I believe that Omar and Ivett/Blanca will end up together as well...

Thank you, Margarita, for explaining about what went on between Viv and JuanMi. I am learning Spanish and while I can usually get the gist - the particulars are way over my head. Destilando Amor was my first telenovela and very frustrating to follow, but because of it by the time I got to my next TN (FELS), I started to get a better feel for pronunciation and how sentences are structured. FELS helps because of the constant repetition. And also thanks to all for the vocabulary!!!
