Cuidado: Friday 1/2/09 "Where Juan Miguel proves that having an education doesn't automatically make you intelligent"

Rocío stalls Onelia and Balbina and sends them away from Blanca’s room and Viv’s corpse. Balbina encourages Onelia to go to bed, but she’s not having it. She wants to find Viv because she’s sure that she needs her mommy after fighting with Juanmi.

The hoodlums who are attempting to kidnap Marichuy’s baby are running into even more bad luck, first they can’t get the window open, then they have no success entering the room once they’ve broken the window, and now Mari and Cande are back in the room and feeding the baby. Cande notices that the window is broken and when Mica comes in to say good night, Cande sends her off to get the window repaired, because Marichuy is a little freaked out by the broken window and glass all over the floor. Meanwhile, Piraña tells his buddy that they’ll wait on the balcony until the chance to snatch the baby arrives.

Juanmi tries to reach passed Ivette and communicate with Blanca. He’s successful and Blanca is upset that her glasses are missing and she’s disturbed by the clothes she’s wearing. JM tries to break it to her that she’s suffering from multiple personalities. Then Blanca catches sight of Viv and asks if she’s dead. JM tells her yes and Blanca is upset, she repeats that it was her, it was her. No, JM tells her, it was Ivette. JM tells her that she’s a peaceful person, and it is really a rare thing to have another personality take over, but that’s what happened.

Leo comes to the room and checks out the broken window. He tells Mari that it will be fixed first thing in the morning. He then takes a look outside to see if he can see any danger, but the hoodlums are plastered against the side of the hacienda, so they aren’t seen. Still, Leo’s not one to take chances, he orders more guards in the garden and he has some of the handymen come up and board the window closed for the evening. Piraña and friend take off to the barn and Piraña has a hissy fit because he’s been thwarted once again.

JM lays Viv’s body in the bed and covers it with a sheet. Blanca is upset about the (figurative) blood on her hands. JM suggests Rocío take Blanca out of there and get her to rest. Rocío suggests that the police be called and that they tell Onelia what happened to her daughter. Neither one thinks for a minute that Blanca can slip back into Ivette form and once again pose a danger, but as you’ll see later, there isn’t a whole lot of rational thought going on in la casa de San Roman.

After the commercial break, JM has Rocío remove Ivette’s things and hid them in her room. He tells his sister that he’s going to avoid scandal, but that he’ll take care of things. JM leaves the room and asks Rocío to send Onelia to his home office. Once in his office, JM has a few moments of sadness at the manner in which Viv met her demise and then he laments over the baby that she was carrying. Onelia comes in and JM gives her the bad news. No puede ser!!, she cries. She runs out of the room searching for her daughter. JM follows and they run into Rocío and Balbina in the foyer. Rocío sends Balbina to keep Mayita occupied and then she takes Onelia to see Viv. Onelia weeps over her daughter’s body and then runs out of the room screaming : Murderer!! She finds JM and pounds on his chest accusing him of murdering her daughter. Rocío follows and tells JM to tell Onelia what really happened. JM tells Rocío to be quiet, he alone will fix things. Onelia demands to know what happened and why Viv’s body is in that woman’s bed.

Cande talks to Marichuy about finding out more about her parents. MC isn’t receptive to the idea. Cande asks if there is any way that Mari can forgive them and MC says nope. Cande says that Padre Anselmo mentioned that Mari’s mother is really suffering and MC says perhaps that’s the punishment for abandoning her when she was a baby.

Rocío yells at JM for not clearing up what really happened. She warns Juanmi that Onelia will most likely call the police and denounce him as Viv’s murderer. This gets no reaction from JM and Rocío says there is no way that she’s going to let her brother take the blame for what happened and no way she’ll let him go to jail for it. JM says that he’s doing what he has to, because at the base of it all, he’s to blame (stupid man). Rocío (our voice of reason in this episode) tells him he’s being absurd!

Cande suggests to Marichuy that it would be nice to introduce her parents to their grandson. MC isn’t in favor of the idea. Cande suggests that MC sleep on it.

Back in DF—Amador meets with Isa and Stefi. They discuss how the kidnapping is progressing and how soon they can get to the pueblo. Amador says that traveling there is difficult because there are some serious storms in the area. Stefi mentions that Viv is getting anxious to have everything worked out because she’s afraid that JM will end up finding out that he’s got a kid with MC. They end up discussing a test—can I assume that they are going to attempt to pass the baby off as Viv’s? and that these tests are going to be paternity tests that Viv will fix? Anyway, Amador questions if Viv will be successful with whatever their plan is and Stefi says that Viv is a woman who’s capable of getting anything accomplished (not any more).

Marichuy daydreams of happy times with her and JM with their baby. After her fantasy, she flashes back to the last time she saw JM and how he told her to go away.

JM apparently has called Eduardo for some help because he’s arrived at the house first thing in the morning. JM starts to psycho-babble to Ed about defense mechanisms and disassociate disorders. JM ends up telling Ed that he found Viv dead and that it was Ivette, Blanca’s dual personality, standing over her with a bloody dagger.

Stefi goes to the San Roman house and when she asks for Viv, Balbina tells her that there’s no way she can talk to her.

Onelia is back sobbing over Viv’s body and Stefi enters the room. Stefi demands to know what happened and Onelia tells her that JM killed her. Stefi asks if Onelia is sure and Onelia says he admitted it (okaaay???), then she goes on about how she accused him and he didn’t deny it (there is some really skewed logic on this show). Onelia swears that JM will pay for his crime.

JM mentions Viv’s pregnancy to Ed and Ed questions if it were real (thank you!). Ed asks more questions, such as where is the body? What’s going to happen with Mayita? JM asks Ed to take Mayita away for awhile and Ed agrees to have her go visit his aunt in Acapulco. Ed says that this is only a stall tactic, JM’s going to have to fill Mayita in on what happened with her mother. JM then tells Ed that he intends to take the blame for Viv’s death. Ed tells him that’s crazy.

Onelia tells Stefi she’s called the police. They arrive downstairs at that moment and Balbina goes to tell JM. JM meets them in the foyer and they inform JM they got a call from Onelia regarding her daughter’s death and that Onelia’s blamed JM. Juanmi flashes to Ed telling him “that’s crazy”, to Blanca blaming herself, and to Mayita giving him a hug. END OF EPISODE.

Cathy, thanks for recapping an absolutely miserable episode and the wonderful vocabulary in red (nice touch). Hope it didn't ruin your weekend.

A lot of us were so upset we couldn't wait to vent so we ranted a bit on Maggie's recap. I had to turn it off and leave the room I was so annoyed!

Thanks for the recap, Cathy. I really like your title. It really is demonstrated in this episode.

I agreed with you, Cathy. Juan Miguel really act stupid in this episode. Why in the hell is he taking the blame? There are lots of other excuses he could say. Also why not tell the truth? Bianca's defense is that she has disassociate disorder and her dual personality is the one that kill Vivana. Vivana was torture Bianca and she get what she deserve.

Now it looks like Juan Miguel is taking the fall for the murder of Vivana. He is going to hide Bianca. I think this is crazy. I think he lost his rational thinking. All that drama and craziness get to Juan Miguel. He is willing to go to jail to get away from that house of lunacy.

Bianca is unstable. She could change into Ivette again and be a danger to everyone in that house. Juan Miguel doesn't even think about this. I think he lost his mind in this episode.

It is crazy. What are the writers thinking of when they came up with this storyline?

Genevieve

Why oh why is Stefi always in other people's houses? That character makes me mad. As for JM, Mari needs to stick with Leo. What kind of a father would protect a killer at the expense of his family? He, a doctor at that. He is beautiful to look at but on this episode there is nobody home.Take the blame for what? What about Mayita? She just lost her mother. Is she to loose her father too? This is messed up.

Well, since I've stuck my two cents' worth in on Thursday's recap already, I'll add some here. Thanks, Cathy, for recapping this disgusting episode so adroitly.

JuanMi deserves time in the tank to think about his stupidity, IMnsHO. He just became one of the most tiresome telenovela protagonists of all time, and this persona is worse than Vasco on Pasión. Keep in mind they have him playing against the same actress that they did in Pasión, and both sets of characters are total losers. UUUUUUUUUGGGHHHH.

The actual losers here are Mayita, Marichuy, Rocío and the baby. These four need to go off and form a sane family without JuanMi and Blanca/Ivette, Stefanía, Amador, Isabela or any of their hangers-on within a thousand miles. They can take Balbina with them for some additional sanity.

I'm just saying.

Jeanne (thoroughly disgusted with JM, the writers, the directors, the producers, televisa, esmas, etc.)

Good grief. I haven't given up on this show, but this episode really gave Fuego a run for its money in terms of character and plot stupidity. Disturbing a murder scene? Taking the blame for a murder you didn't commit, which will benefit NO ONE?!? Leaving the freaking corpse lying around in the house? Ed and Rocio need to give Juan Miguel a series of swift kicks and then take over. They're both way smarter; why do they let him get away with this crap?

Cathy – thank you so much for the recap. You explained dialog that flew by me, and the vocab list is terrific.

I’m with you anon 10:39 – not only does Stef wander into people’s homes, she also seems to be allowed in private rooms during family dramas. Of course she never says “This seems like a bad time, I’ll just be running along.”

And I’m with all of you that JM’s actions were colossally stupid. Still, I’m glad he has some sense of responsibility, since it is his fault he didn’t screen Blanca before hiring her, plus he knew she had some sort of problem that she wasn’t ready to discuss, plus he was seeing this totally bizarre woman (who had an apartment full of swords) on the side.

Of course the most shocking idiocy was having a madwoman who’d just murdered someone go have a nice nap in the house unguarded.

JudyB – I don’t know how you can turn this stuff off! I can’t tear my eyes from the screen it’s all so unbelievable. It’s like watching a train wreck. I just sit there saying no puede ser!

JM once again showed that dominant side of him I don’t like when he was telling Rocio that she wasn’t allowed to say anything, he’d take care of everything.

About that apartment full of swords – where did Ivette get it? Who signed the lease papers? What about the credit check? Who pays the rent?

I too was ranting in the previous recap. I'll just add that I hope they do an autopsy and find out that Viv wasn't really pregnant.

Cathy: Thanks for the recap. I was so annoyed on so many levels after this chapter ended Friday. Juanmi is pleasanst to look at, but the writers sure haven't given his character a whole lot to work with.

Blanca/Yvette stabs Vivi in the chest, and it becomes a bloodless death. Juanmi forces Rocio - whom I hope doesn't keep her mouth shut for too long - to become his accomplice in covering up the murder. And then Blanca goes peacefully off to another room to await her fate. Oh,no, Juanmi is going to take the fall for her.

He moves the body, covers it up with a sheet and has not a single dropBla of blood on him. This is total suspension of belief. I'm offended by the stupidity of this.

Anyway, to continue my rant, I really did llike the Juanmi character and the way the actor looks, but when push comes to shove, he gets out-acted by other cast members, e.g., Blanca/Yvette and Leo. They are believable in their roles, but William/Juanmi is definitely falling off the tracks.

Back to Leo - I thought I heard him tell one of his hands to let the dogs out. Maybe I imagined that, but, it would be a good idea.

I missed the conversation Amador had with Isa and Estefi. Thanks for pointing it out. Vivi surely couldn't have been planning to have Mari's baby kidnapped so that she could pass it off as hers. The time frame just wouldn't work. Anyway, like someone said, we'll never know, but I hope we are enlightened about her supposed pregnancy.

I have a new name for this telenovela, folks:

Cuidado con Los Tontos

Jeanne

Jeanne, I think I'd go so far as to risk offending someone and say Cuidado Con los Estupidos. Why oh why can't we have a smart galan?

Why does Stefi still exist? Just to pass the gossip around, I guess, but I'd rather see Dora have more of a role and bring the news to Ceci. I can't figure out what's going on with Isa and Amador. He always calls her "Tia" and kisses her on the cheek or something, then she looks hot and bothered.

Cathy,

Thank you for your vocab list. I write the words down and it has been so helpful. I am learning words as I go along thanks to you!

I, too, was so ticked off by this episode. I kept screaming "call the police, you dope." I could not believe JM actually moved the body. That's a no-no, sweetie. Tampering with the evidence and all that stuff. Jeeeesh! I have to believe that he will not be as dumb as we think he is as when the show ended and the cops were waiting for him to speak up, Mayita went through his mind, and I hope that kicked some sense into him. I cannot believe Rocio and Ed would let him take the blame for this knowing he is innocent. We'll see tonight.

Thank you for the recap of a crazy episode, Cathy.

I would like to give the writers a break though: 1-I think the stabbing is bloodless because we are to creatively think that Viv bled internally being stabbed with a long and skinny knife. Or I guess they didn't want to have to clean the set afterwards. 2-Also if the writers would have just kept the plot simple and let Ivette/Blanca be carted off to jail, that would have been the end of everything with things being cleared away for JM & Mari to get back together (no more Viviana and no other conflict). I think with the JM-taking-the-blame-twist, matters are further complicated and we have to wait even longer for the leads to get back together - if they ever get back together. I still think the writers will keep them apart forever. 3-With regards to the JM character becoming more stupid and tiresome, I think the writers want us to think that JM is too close to the situation around him to see things clearly. He needs to take step back to get a clearer perspective but he won't because he feels responsible for everything. He needs to cure himself but I guess it's a case of "the dentist having rotten teeth" or "the hairstylist with a 'bowl' haircut".

As bad as the plot twist is turning, it's still facinating to watch. How the heck is JM going to get himself out of this ditch he is digging?
JT

Julia, I was just playing with "Cuidado con El Angel" and "Las Tontas no Van...." but whatever term you want to use for fools, fine with me. We are so in agreement that they're all a bunch of idiots.

Jeanne

Jeanne, I knew what you meant. I was referring to the original title of Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo, which used "Estupidas." Apparently the title was changed because estupidas was considered too strong and offensive, but it's still heard in the show as the title of Candi's column.

Even if JM feels somehow responsible, what does he think is to be gained by moving the body and waiting until the next day to report the death? That's just going to get the entire household in trouble.

I see, Julia. I didn't realize the series had another title, but did, of course, know that her column has that title. We could probably think of about 20 additional things to call JuanMi at the moment, and the cast of other idiots in this one.

On a bright note, Patricio Velarde doesn't look as stupid as he did to me in the beginning now that Juan Miguel has raised the stupidity bar to new heights.

Jeanne

I look forward to Ed's taking Mayita to Acapulco. There, on the beach in his swimsuit, Ed will say, "Mayita, I don't know how to tell you this...but your beloved father is a complete moron." Mayita, of course, will already know that, because she is the smartest person on this show, and she will craft a plan to straighten out everyone's lives including finding Marichuy and the baby, and Ed will work for her and they will get rid of Onelia and Stef and make Vicente walk and get Amador eaten by his own wolf. And arrange for Casilda to be buried in a rockslide.

Thanks for the recap!

Tell me JM isn't going to confess to killing Viv! This is ridiculous, just when I thought JM was getting a little more depth, I was liking him more and thought his acting was getting better, but now this.....totally retarded. But remember how messed up he is, how responsible and guilty he is about everything as someone pointed out.

I'm really curious to see if all Viv's evil deeds will ever come to light. Will these loose ends just be left hanging?? It would be weird and just sloppy writing if that is the case. What was all that time we spent in Spain about??

Maybe Eduardo will save the day, he's our only hope now. Please get Mayita out of there, then talk some sense to your freind....at the gym.

Yes! What Julia said!

Hi and thank you Cathy for the recap. I have watched this TN sporadically, so have missed a lot, but I'm wondering what could possibly motivate JM to take the fall for this murder? He certainly doesn't love Bianca, does he?
"Creemelo" (puzzled)
