Fuego, Monday 1/5 (#168): Visitors from beyond the grave or property line

Raquel stands next to her packed suitcase and tells us that whatever surprise Ricardo has prepared for her could be dangerous. She doesn't want to risk finding out.

Juan tells Eva that Ruth came by, wanting to be friends with Juan. Juan is willing to let Ruth visit for Eva's sake. Eva is grateful.

"You killed the Reyes' parents," Sofía tells Ricardo. Eavesdropping Ruth is stunned. Ricardo admits to it, but says it was Gabi's fault. She planned the whole thing. If he goes to jail, he'll turn Gabi in, and she'll get locked up too. And if she tells the Reyes about this, he'll tell them the rest of the story, and they'll seek revenge on Gabi too. How would she like it if Juan killed them and rotted away his last days in a prison cell? Sofi runs up the stairs, mortified. Ruth scurries back to her room.

Juan is waiting in Sofía's room. That's way better than the big fat centipede I found in my room a few months ago. He wants to know why she is so upset, but she can't tell him anything. They hug, and she cries on his shoulder.

Ruth is brooding over Sofía's words ("you killed the Reyes' parents") when she hears a horse outside her window. (By the way, it's a full moon, just in case you were wondering.) It's Capricho. She's furious to think that Juan is in Sofía's room, and swears revenge.

Now Gabi is telling Ricardo that he should forgive her for deceiving him about Raquel's baby, since Ruth is the child of both of them. Ricardo says he never would have broken up with her. Gabi scoffs at this, since she was married to Bernardo at the time. Ricardo says he would have killed him. "You loved me that much?" Ricardo kisses her in reply.

They separate hastily as Ruth bursts in to tattle on Sofía for having Juan in her room. Ricardo gives Ruth a funny look as Gabi rushes off to investigate. Gabi breaks up Juan and Sofía's little kissing party and calls Sofía shameless. She tells Juan to round up his three little boogersnot kids and get out.

Juan tells her not to talk that way about his kids. Sofía isn't leaving here until she's married to him. Gabi starts with her "I own this place, I call the shots" speech, and that's when Juan drops his bomb: Abuelo sold him his share of the hacienda. Juan says Sofía can stay, or he can move his entire family in here - it's all legal.

Gabi doesn't take the news well. Juan explains that Abuelo did this to ensure that his granddaughters would be safe. Gabi runs out clutching her forehead in dismay. Sofía beams. Juan then repeats everything he just said in case we or Sofi didn't catch it the first time.

Gabi goes back to her study to tell Ricardo and Ruth what just happened. Juan now has power over a good portion of the house and property. She can't do anything. She curses the irony that her father ended up defeating her, but this means that now she's going to have to kill the Reyes.

Juan tries to get Sofía to agree to move in with him now, so that she'll be safe. She doesn't want to leave her mother behind because she's in danger. Juan thinks this is absurd, but Sofía says she just needs some time put things in order and then she'll be at ease. He doesn't understand what danger Sofia's referring to, and she doesn't explain, but he says he'll be on the lookout. He can't wait till their wedding day to be done with this nightmare forever. She thinks him for being so understanding. Someday she'll be able to tell him why she was so afraid. He tells her to spit it out, but she doesn't. They go back to kissing. Then he leaves to check on Oscar.

Alone, Sofía agonizes over what will happen if she tells anyone about Ricardo murdering Juan's parents.

Back at the cottage, Ruth asks her father what's the big deal - Gabi still owns most of the hacienda, right? Ricardo says Juan owns enough of it to have a say in any decisions.

Ruth hesitantly asks him if he really killed Juan's parents. He tells her to lower her voice - he's afraid Raquel will hear.

Raquel will not hear. She's lugging her suitcase down the road, scampering for her life. Coyote comes along and says he knows she's in trouble; he begs her to let him help. She doesn't waste any time; she hops into his truck. (The way she's walking, it appears that Raquel, like Rosario, did not consider wearing practical shoes for her great escape.)

Ricardo sees that Raquel and her things are gone. He and Ruth ride around on horses to look for her.

Eva and Tio Vicente enjoy hot drinks and she tells him her tale of woe. (Could these two someday be an item?) Ruth is so much like her adoptive father. It pains Eva to admit it, but it's the truth. Tio says Ruth is also a lot like Gabriela when she was younger; she loved hurting the people around her. Tio tells Eva not to cry; someday everything will be fine, and Ricardo Uribe will pay for the cruelty that he instilled in Eva's daughter.

Ricardo angrily gives up the search for Raquel. Ruth thinks she'll be back; she's run away before. Now she wants to finish hearing his explanation about killing Juan's parents. He says yeah, he killed them, but Gabriela drove him to it. She had it all planned out. Ruth is shocked. How could Gabriela possibly have convinced him? He says she did it the way all women do, with the same weapons that work on all men: love, jealousy, passion. Ruth is still aghast that this was enough to turn him into a killer. He says yeah, he's passionate, and when he makes a decision, nothing can stop him. Ruth's pleading eyes beg him to change his story.

Feo complains to Gabi that her father got his own way; the final winning move. Gabi says it won't last long. Feo will have to get rid of the Reyes, or she'll do it herself. Feo advises her to chill out. First, they should play along with Juan so as not to tip him off and make him want to move in. Sofía will be easier to manage, too. And then add a touch of good old blackmail. Sofía will fall in line, because she loves her mommy and doesn't want her to suffer. It'll be better to have Sofía in the hacienda than Juan.

Juan tells his peeps at home that he's not confident about the kids' safety; but if he marries Sofía right away then he can bring them to live here now. Franco asks what's this great danger that Gabriela's supposed to be in; Juan guesses that it has something to do with Feo or Ricardo. Tio warns Juan to be cautious; one false move will get the enemy's attention.

But Oscar says that if Sofía suspects something, then she's probably right, and she's in danger and so are the kids. Juan says that's why they need Oscar to get better, to protect their women and children. Oscar promises that he will. Tio says let's find out what's going on before we do anything.

Gabi calls Sofía into her study. Sofi is expecting to get kicked out of the house; instead, Gabi says she's given up her useless effort to keep Sofía and Juan apart. She'll respect their decision to marry. That's it; Sofía is dismissed.

Sofía says it's nice of Gabi to let them be together since nobody can split them up. But she wants to know if it's true that Gabi made Ricardo kill Juan's parents."

Gabi says that when you're in love with someone the way she was in love with JJ Robles, you'll do anything. "But you should know that better than anyone, with all you've been through with Juan Reyes, right?" Sofía says she'd never make Juan commit a crime. Gabi says that emotion can cause you to surpass your own limits.

Sofi guesses that JJ rejected Gabi, and that's where her hate for him began. Gabi is speechless. Sofía tells her that Ricardo threatened to turn Gabi in if Sofi turns him in.

Gabi seems shocked by this twist, but is ready to use it to her advantage - she explains that this is why she asked Ricardo to stay - because if she displeases him, he'll turn her in. She lays an extra-thick guilt quilt on Sofía, saying that this is her big chance for revenge, for Sofía to show just how much she hates Gabriela. Sofía cries with denial, no I don't hate you, I love you, I'd do anything for you, I'll keep quiet in order to save you, even though my conscience will complain.

Gabriela puts on a stellar display of motherly contrition. "I never thought you could have compassion for me," she says. She takes Sofía's hands, "You're soooo good. The only thing I can do is ask forgiveness for all my offenses. Please forgive me for all the damage I've done." She asks Sofía to please stay at the hacienda until her wedding day.

Sofía tears up and thanks Gabriela. This is all she's ever wanted in her life. Gabriela hugs her and frowns over her shoulder. Ruth interrupts and sarcastically remarks, "What a moving sight, though I don't know who you're trying to fool." She asks Gabriela why she hasn't kicked Sofi out yet. Gabi defends Sofía and says she'll never kick her daughters out of this house. "But you did before - besides, you don't even like Sofía!" Gabi shushes her and tells her to be respectful to Sofía, or else she'll be sent to live int he cottage.

Ruth goes to her room, confused and angry. Feo's waiting for her. She explains that Gabi and Sofía offended her and she hates them both. He wants to know why she's so mad at her now when she admired her so much before. Ruth says Gabi treated her like a dog in order to get in good with Sofía. "You're jealous!" Feo taunts. She asks him to help her make Gabriela feel the way Gabi made Ruth feel. He recommends that they get rid of Gabriela in an "accident." Ruth will inherit everything. But first he'd like Ruth to sign a statement giving him half her fortune. She tells him he's crazy.

Juan contemplates a batch of conchas. They look a little like brains. Maybe these people have conchas for brains. That would explain a lot. He muses that he's got to get Sofía and his kids out of there and protect them.

Franco sneaks into Sarita's room. He wakes her with a kiss. We don't get to see much more, but we know there's more.

Ruth agrees to Feo's deal and asks him for the paper. He says he'll get it later. First they'll seal the deal with some rough sex.

Ricardo is on the prowl, dressed in black with his face covered; definitely the look of a low-tech Darth Vader. He remembers getting shot at by some unseen person (Coyote) and wonders who's this additional enemy he doesn't know about. Could be the person who helped Raquel escape; what wants to kill him, and why does he hate him?

Coyote brings Raquel home to Mom. "This woman is my mother. One more victim of Ricardo Uribe and Gabriela Acevedo." He kisses Mom's hand and she kisses his sweet shiny forehead.

Feo returns to his own room, where Gabriela is already asleep with a book in her hand. (Extraordinary Tales of Edgar Allan Poe - no doubt "The Tell-Tale Heart" is among them.) "Very soon you'll be sleeping forever," he thought-bubbles at her.

Eva dreams of talking to her better fake daughter, Rosario, in a flower garden. She explains that things aren't going well with her real daughter, Ruth, who rejected her. Rosario comforts her with a hug. Eva wakes up, begging Rosario not to leave. This wakes Quintina, who is wearing green socks with toes, and some randomly applied face cream. (Notice that even rumpled from sleep, Eva looks better with her hair down than in the ponytail.) Eva then describes the entire dream to her.

Q says it's a tough break that Rosario didn't turn out to be Eva's real daughter. Rosario was so nice, and Ruth is nasty like trichinosis. Like Ricardo. In fact, just today Quintina caught Ruth trying to gain Pablito's confidence, maybe trying to get some information. She's up to no good.

It turns out that the reason Rosario couldn't hang around with Eva is because she had an appointment to haunt Feo. "Do you remember me? You're going to pay for each and every one of your crimes." "Leave me alone! You're dead!" he cries, waking Gabi. "Get her away from me!" he begs. Gabi looks around, but doesn't see anyone. "Right there!" He points at the wardrobe. "It's Rosario! She's come for me, she wants revenge!" He can still hear her echoing accusations.

Gabriela realizes that Feo killed Rosario and Armando. He admits it, still staring in terror at the haunted wardrobe.

Darth Ricardo skulks around in Pablito's room, looking for that little box. His foot knocks a toy over; Pablito wakes, but pretends to be asleep as Ricardo searches all around his bed.

The boy follows Ricardo into the living room. Darth takes the Robles family crest off the wall and steps on it. He finds Pablito's little box inside Juan's big trunk. "Now I just have to find Raquel," Ricardo thought-bubbles.

But first he will have to get past Pablito, who demands an explanation. Ricardo shushes him, but this is not an obedient child. His screams of fury wake the entire house. He latches onto Ricardo's leg for dear life. Everyone rushes out to help - everyone except Oscar, who fumbles on the floor with his wheelchair and curses himself for being unable to defend the family. Slacker!

The grownups are too late - the masked man is gone. Juan rushes outside and takes a few shots at the departing shadow. At least one shot gets him in the leg. Darth Vader Uribe rides off into the darkness, and nobody knows it was him.

Mexico airdate: 10 de septiembre
Next time: Sofía tells Uncle Vinnie that Ricardo killed the Reyes' parents.

I may be very far behinde in this show but have been watching fridays and this episode.Parts of this episode had me laughing as did the recap! Gabi has the heart of the grinch ... oh i forgot how that saying goes about the grinch's heart! If Ric was the robber he would fit right into the show the world dumbest criminals lol!
great work!

"Conchas for brains"...I love the euphimism, Julie. Fun recap to read. If the episode was even half as good to watch, this baby is really picking up. I was busy watching the Buckeyes get their hearts broken once again. Shoulda stuck with you guys.

Sorry...euphemism. (I think!)

Julie, excellent recap. Appreciate your vivid details and really enjoy your superb writing style.

Still a lot of true parentage to be revealed: "Eva dreams of talking to her better fake daughter, Rosario, in a flower garden. She explains that things aren't going well with her real daughter, Ruth, who rejected her. Rosario comforts her with a hug."

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing Feo squirm at the Rosario apparition :) He is definitely coming unglued.

Interested in seeing exactly what evil Gabi perpetrated on Coyote's mother. I'm fairly new to telenovas, but I can't imagine any villaness being worse than Gabi. Am I wrong? In addition of being capable of murder herself, it appears she is a master manipulator at getting others to do it for her.

"He can't wait till their wedding day to be done with this nightmare forever."

And neither can I. And at this point it will be anticlimactic.

Thanks for the great recap, Julie.

Hola! Long Lost Maggarita here, catching up on Loco en la Sangre. Thanks, Julie & the gang of recrappers who kept me on top of the finer plot points during my holiday absence. No fab vacations, just busy with family stuff.

Last night, mi hija & I tuned in for a few laughs. Biggest chuckle: when we thought Shrek was in the bed next to Eva.

Loved Ghostario's angelic 2-piece outfit. Men across Mexico are now joining the priesthood in the hopes that when they get to heaven, angels really do have boobs like basketballs, abs of steel, and flowing tresses lightly dusted with sparkles.

My head hurts...where's the beanie??

Great recap Julie. Sometimes Juan talks so fast I have no idea what he's saying. I still can't figure out what Crabi would gain from telling Slofia that she was the one that planned the killing of Juan's parents. The suspense is killing me--who is Coyote's mom? I still think it has something to do with Pedro. Maybe Pedro and Coyote are half brothers.

Julie: I like your recapping style, a very easy read. Thank you.
Feo was especially attractive last night, what with the knife-to-the-throat sex and the crying and spitting all over himself. yummy.
Jenna

I think maybe Feo will go crazy (we can only hope!)

I don't know if Gabi is the most evil villainess ever, but I can't think of anyone worse - at least not in a telenovela. I've seen women consumed by jealousy, greed, power, or revenge, but never all of them at the same time.

I'd say Sara, the sociopath in Querida Enemiga, was pretty close, though. The only reason she didn't get as bad as Gabriela is because she was sent to prison before she had the chance to reproduce. She was a lot scarier than Gabriela, too, because she seemed more like a real person and less like a cartoonish caricature like Gabi.

I loved seeing Fernando tormente by Rosario's ghost. Why don't you jump over the window and end it Fernando? hahahaha.

I love seeing Rosario. More of her ghostly apparitions please.

So was that Rough sex with Fernando? Was Ruth really uncomfortable or not? Can't tell. I have a feeling deep down she despises Fernando but can't do anything about it.

Juan connected with Ricardo. He got Ricardo's leg. Look at the replays and you will see it.

This is getting better. :)

Ibarramedia

Julie, boogersnot kids? Thanks for that image this morning. Actually that's what I've been seeing a lot of here in the office for the last couple of weeks, thanks to our capricious weather. Also , little brains, that,s precisely what I thought as well. You have to love the way Gabriela and Ricardo manipulated Sophia. It's always nice to watch experts in action. Once again, I was disappointed in my Ruth. Rough sex with Fernando? Daddy would not be proud. Carlos

Thanks for the recap, Julie, wasn't THIS a fine episode! I'm so glad that the pace has quickened lately...Ruth has been less than ruthless lately, she seems to truly be horrified by the murders that all those on the dark side have participated in, and her worst act last night was to tattle on Sofia to Crabi...It was great to see Feo's nightmare- Cantu' did a marvelous job in terror! Sofia is in such an ironic quandry- she has promised to keep mum about the murder of JJ and Mama Robles/Reyes, but this is at least as big a secret as Juan's sworn vengance that she held against him ad nauseum. We know that she has to resolve it (don't we?), because if it comes out from another source, she will be guilty of concealing the facts of their murder, and look very bad, indeed. On the other hand, she can't turn Mommy Dearest in, can she? If she somehow finds out that Crabi isn't her madre, that will enable her to derramar los frijoles about the murders. Looks like Raqui might be the key to this; she is the only one that both despises Ricky and Crabi, and knows the whole truth of Sofia's parentage. She is now in Coyote's protective custody, and I'm thinking that the old girls will probably have a chat aboutRicky, and Crabi, and that will push Raqui into action. Vamos a ver...dorado dave

Emilee, do you mean "the Grinch's heart was two sizes too small"? I think that's the quote. (I found the whole thing here.) I wouldn't have thought she had a heart at all, but she went to a cardio specialist (Dr. Hotlip's father) who confirmed that hers wasn't working right. (Implying that she has one.)

Hmm. I wonder what's up with that? I think the doctor eventually gave her a clean bill of health, but if she could have a heart condition before, it could always come back.

Also, although it seemed to work out for the Grinch when his heart grew three sizes one day, it's usually bad when a person's heart becomes enlarged. Perhaps if they're nice enough to her, her heart will swell with kindness and burst. (Fat chance - they've been nice to her their whole lives and it hasn't worked yet.)

Ibarramedia, if you saw Ricardo's leg get hit I will have to take your word for it. I did replay the scene more than once, but sometimes when a close-up is too close, I can't figure out what I'm looking at!

Sort of like that optical illusion where some people see two faces, others see a vase, and all I see is an interesting design.

I don't get the Ruth/Feo thing at all, but she does seem to enjoy it, even if she's not exactly smiling. Maybe it takes a lot to get such a jaded person excited. Also, she has a lot of hostility to work off. At least she doesn't burn down people's houses in order to blow off some steam the way some people do.

Dorado Dave, I hope you're right about a long talk between Raquel and Mother Coyote, and I hope we get to see it. I really do wonder if she was friendly with either the Robles or the Reyes. I'm definitely in the mood for some answers.

Also, someone mentioned Coyote's mom might be married to El Jefe - or maybe she's his sister (not Juan's mom, but his aunt).

You'd think someone would have mentioned another sibling though. On the other hand, nobody mentioned Tio Vicente either until one day Juan just happened to find a letter from him in his trunk (that he's had for decades) and then the guy coincidentally showed up.

For all we know, Coyote's mom could be Gabi's long-lost twin sister. In any other telenovela, that would seem silly, but in this one it would be great.

You know, I imagine that Gabriella especially likes the Poe short story "Hop Frog", a chilling story about a dwarf who uses fire to extract his revenge. I read this as a child and to this day have nightmares triggered by that tale. Gabriella seems to enjoy the occasional conflagration involving those who have offended her. Carlos

Julie, After a series of shots they pan down on Ricardo's legs. It does not show which one was hit though. And he flinches too. There is a quck shot of his face. And when he gallops away, it seems he doubles over. I can't wait to see tonight's episode.

And about Ruth. She may be bitchy and mischievous, but she is no murderer. So it would not be surprising to see her reaction. In real life, not all the people we don't like are criminals. But some do border on it. ;)

I do like Ruth and Rosario a lot. Funny how Rosario and Ruth are aware of each others existence even though I don't recall them ever meeting.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia: "So was that Rough sex with Fernando? Was Ruth really uncomfortable or not? Can't tell. I have a feeling deep down she despises Fernando but can't do anything about it."

I think Root is Gabi/Ricardo in training--kind of torn between good and evil, but sinking fast into the greedy and vengeful ways of her parents. She's horrified by what Gabi and Ricardo have done, but following quickly in their footsteps. She doesn't love Fernando. She's using him. She's simultaneously grossed out and turned on by his perverted overtures--true to her Elizondo-Uribe genes. We have a hint, though, that she may have something of a heart--saving Augie. Can she still be redeemed.

Thanks, Julie. At least we are moving along and having things happen now. Rick, Crabby, and Ferd will have to die, but I think that Ruth will be reformed...maybe she'll end up with Coyote. Since the evildoers are their own worst enemies , they will probably do each other in somehow. None of the heroes can sully their hands . I, too, thought that Juan shot Rick...somewhere... but I'm not sure where. Anywhere is good for me as long as he got a bullet somewhere. I am interested in Raq and CoyoteMom getting to know each other.

Ah thanks for the info! for me being 19 im a little rusty on childhood stories!
I think this show has 207 episodes am i right?!

Well, Feo hasn't yet presented Ruth with that document to sign, so she's not officially in on a murder plan yet. There's still time to turn back. The verbal agreement with Feo means nothing until he has Ruth's signature. Without it, there's no advantage to him killing Gabi. She's the only reason he isn't either homeless or in jail.

It's 205 episodes, plus a two-hour finale which could either be shown in one night or two nights, so 207 hours total, yep. Just under 8 weeks to go. That should give us an end date of February 28.

I don't think Ruth will have anything to do with killing Crabi. After all Root just found out that Crabi was her mom. I think Darth got shot in the leg. I'd have to watch it again but it looked like he leaned over and grabbed his leg.

Well, he definitely flinched, so he must have been hit. I'll edit that for clarity. I also realized that "trichina" probably referred to trichinosis, duh, not a tapeworm, so I'm fixing that too.

Finally....some Sarita-Franco action, however, brief!! Thank you!!

Ruth is a psychological mess. She is jealous when she sees Sofia hugging Crabi yet is playing along with Feo in planning the murder of Crabi for the inheritance and also fooling around with Crabi's husband, Feo. I keep wondering if Root and Feo have connected or it is just rough foreplay. Actually, I should be grateful that I have been spared the scenes. I am still recovering from those Bernie/Libia encounters. When was that, like decades ago. Thank you, Julie, for your witty recaps and the other interesting tidbits you add. GinCA

Great recrap, Julie. Thank you! I missed this episode. Had to finish a 1st season DVD collection of "How I Met Your Mother" with my DH and get it back to BlockBuster. (I highly recommend it, too, but I digress...) Back to FELS . . .

OMG! So Juan now owns part of hacienda Elizondo-Escandon! Wow. I didn’t see THAT coming. So do we call it Hacienda REE, ERE, or EER?

Does Sofia know that Ruth is really Gabi’s daughter, or is she the only one who doesn't know? My brain is fried from all the twists & turns & secrets exposed. The FELS-red jello- chronic full moon effect. Caray, Caray!

I hope Raqi is helpful to Coyote in bringin down all the baddies. I want Raquel to have some redeeming value in this circo.

doris

susanlynn, I think it would be great to see Coyote and Root end up together. They both bring out a kind of forbidden lust in all of us.

I'd also like to see more ghostly visits by Rosario. It would be so appropriate if she drove Feo crazy.

Whoa...did I miss something? Don't Ruth and Coyote have the same father. I don't think I want to see them end up together at all. Eeeeech. We'd be back to Amar Sin Limites indeed.

I doubt that Ruth and Coyote Will end up together since it appears now they are half brother and sister, although many TNs flirt with incest. Carlos

I feel so robbed by the Franco/Sarita scene! As Oliver would say, I'd like some more please.

I'm going home and calling my teenagers boogersnots. Love it!

This is when not knowing any Spanish is a pain. Here I thought maybe Gabi was really having a moment with Sophia, not just cooking up another scheme. Oh well.

Awesome recap!

"Does Sofia know that Ruth is really Gabi’s daughter, or is she the only one who doesn't know?"

I believe that the only people who know about the swap yet are Raquel, Crabi, and Ricardo. And maybe the padre (I can't remember if Raquel told him about the swap or if she only told him about trading some land for a baby).

Believe it or not, even Root doesn't know about the swap yet. When Gabi told Ruth last week that she would be Gabi's heir, Gabi said it was because they're so much alike.

I don't know why they're keeping it a secret from Ruth. Maybe because they know she won't be able to resist blabbing to Sofia and rubbing her nose in it. If Sofia finds out that Gabi isn't her mother, she may be much more willing to consider sending both Gabi and Ricardo to jail.

I'm not sure there wasn't some shred of real feeling in Gabi's scene with Sofia. Usually when she's playing Sofi she has a bit of a smirk that everyone except Sofi can see. If I were Sofi, I think I might have been convinced that Gabi was having a Grinch heart-growing moment.

Although I'm still annoyed by her hair, I have to give Raquel props for being the only character with enough sense not to wait around for her enemy's "surprise" and yay for Coyote facilitating a successful get away!

Also - I'd love to see Eva and Uncle Vicente become an item!

Does Boogersnot apply to "children" in their 20's?

"snot-nosed" probably is a more accurate translation than "boogersnot," but sometimes other words jump to mind first and I'm not always able to resist them.

I had forgotten all about Poe's "Hop-Frog." I barely remember it, but I bet it's the perfect story for Gabriela. (Also "The Cask of Amontillado," since she doesn't like enclosed spaces.)

However, right now we have Feo dealing with a telltale heart situation, and it is awesome!

An outstanding recrap, Julie. Muchas gracias. Loved the "conchas for brains" tag--an accurate description.
Cantu/Feo was very good in his sweating, drooling terror. I wouldn't mind seeing him lose his (superior) mind.
I give Pablito props for some good acting last night, in his scene with Darth Uribe.
Quintina did almost impersonate Shrek, didn't she?
La Paloma

Quintina is just plain scary no matter what she is wearing! Why is it that all the adults have to share a room and Pablito has is own? Well, let's see who do we have living there:
1. Juan
2. Franco
3. Oscar
4. Tio Elf
5. Quintina
6. Eva
7. Jimena
8. Rigo and wife
9. New baby
10. Hortensia
11. Pablito
12. Mariachi
13. 3-Marias (soon)
14. Sophia (soon)
15. 3 nuns (soon)

Did I forget anybody?

Does Hortensia live at the Reyes ranch too? I thought she just came by for visits now and then, but had her own place near the market.

I think Hortensia still lives at her own place.

I wish I could believe that there was a shred of sincerity in Gabriela when she was talking to Sofia, because I'd love for her to have a Grinch/Scrooge transformation, but her track record suggests otherwise.

She was willing to let all kinds of bad things happen to Sofia and her baby just to make sure she'd inherit Bernardo's fortune. And that was when she thought they were related. Now the stakes are much higher - it's not just about not-getting some money, it's also about possibly going to jail or getting killed. After all that, I don't think she's going to suddenly have feelings for someone who, it turns out, isn't even her daughter.

I'm sure her tears were real, but I don't think they came from fondness, remorse, or even gratitude towards Sofia. Just relief that she's not going to jail. She's probably thinking "good thing Sofia is such a sucker."

8 more weeeeeeeeeeeeeeks she shrieked. No way. What more can possibly happen here. I bet that we could bring this puppy to closure real quick, with a few acme weights, a cannon or two, some telenovela god karma. Y ya. We can even add the tan-tan moment. But 8 weeks? Uh-oh. This novela is about to revert to slo-mo again.

Great recap. I love Fernando. The eyes.

Oh yeah, Julie, Pad Tad knows that Slofia is Eva's bebe. It was one of those reasons weeks ago he told her to chill out when she was going on and on about Ruth. Figures Slofia is her daughter. They are the biggest chillonas in this show.

VV

Yes boogersnots are older kids too! I bet even my mom would agree.

You know, the Keebler elf and the doormat can hook up, I just don't want to see it!

i once thought of Coyote and Root getting together, but they share the same biological father, these twisted writers wouldn't do that, would they?! Also, didn't Coyote say something about getting Ricky where he is most vulnerable, i.e. Root. I don't think that he was thinking "conquistarla"... dorado dave

I don't think the writers would do that. I don't think Coyote would do it, either.

Everytime I get my hopes up and think Slowfia is going to surprise us and make the leap from naive ingenue to mature thinker I'm disappointed. Why do I continue to let the novela gods play those tricks on me?????

Julie: appreciated the very aproPoe reference. ?; ? )

Julie, Thanks for the great recap. So many fun lines. The episode was another action packed one for sure. I saw Ricardo jerk as though he had been hit. I guess I will write about it later tonight when we find out how he looks when he gets back to the cabana.

It is so hard to see where Ruth will finally come out in this struggle for good, bad and worse. She seems kind of freaked but still facinated with evil.

Julie, an excellent and smooooth recrap of a sprightly episode.
Did anyone notice
A) Feo was in the middle of his rough-sex routine with Root when he suddenly pulled back and pushed her away. Huh?
B) Right before Eva's dream sequence, it showed someone's foot sticking out from under the covers and there was a birthmark on the bottom of the foot!!! I was leaning forward going "ohhh", then it went into the dream sequence. ANyone else see it.
C) Jenna, hate to admit it but I, also, experience that sicky-attraction to Feo...I think it's the cigar-puffing action.
"Creemelo"

I think the person that thought El Jefe is the DH of Soledad is on the right track, so that would make El Coyote another Reyes cousin.
Someone asked why they call him Coyote but I didn't catch the answer. Why por favor?
