Manana Es Para Siempre - March 24th - "Not Tonight Honey, I Have a Heartache"

From last night: We’re still going around in circles about where Soledad’s final resting place will be and Priscila get’s the tie-breaking vote. AnyBalls reminds her that only their familial ancestors are buried there. She dryly says thanks for the info.

New stuff: Priscilla votes in favor of Soledad being buried in the family crypt. Fernanda and Santiago are ecstatic, while Barb curses Priscila in her mind. Anyballs doesn’t look too thrilled that Prisci voted against him either. Barb tries to make nice with Nanda by telling her that she and Gonzo will do everything possible to make sure Soledad gets a funeral deserving of a queen - “digno de una reina”

Aurora, in Nanda’s room, is admiring all of Nanda’s beautiful clothes and thinking house nice the family has been to her, especially Santiago – he’s been an angel.

Lucio’s still drunk as a skunk in Jacinto and Margarita’s house with Fr/Ed lurking in another room out of sight, but listening. Lucio tells Jacinto and Marg that Barb said that Gardenia and Florecita were the ones who sent the flowers to Nanda at the wedding. Lucio says not to worry he’ll help them, but Marg’s is sure it won’t be free. Lucio promises to tell Barb that Gardenia and Florecita had nothing to do with the flowers as long as Jacinto and Margarita give Lucio the keys to Soledad’s house. They’re appalled at the thought and tell Lucio they have no right to give away something that isn’t theirs, and besides, Soledad paid for that house with her blood, sweat and tears. Lucio tells them he doesn’t get what the big deal is, Soledad doesn’t need the house anymore, right? Fr/Ed listens and is starting to look irritated with drunk Lucio.

Back to Aurora, thinking how nice of a family she’s found herself with, especially that good guy Don Gonzo and his beautiful wife Barbara. But, she thinks, there’s something about Barb that troubles, but intrigues her, she’s not sure what it is, but maybe it has something to do with the things that Santiago has told her – that Barb is very ambitious and all the affection she shows the family is fake. Boy, has Aurora got a thing or two to learn! She thinks how different her life is than when she was with cruel Dominga. Speaking of the drunken Dominga, who is at this very moment screaming and yelling for Aurora, saying that once she finds Aurora she’ll make her pay dearly. Aurora vows never to return to Dominga’s house. Somehow I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Dominga!

Back at Jacinto’s place, Lucio is still trying to convince them to let him move into Soledad’s house. They’re still against it, but then Fr/Ed catches Jacinto’s eye and shakes his head yes, to let Lucio live in the house. Jacinto tells Lucio they’ll think about it, and instead of just goin’ with the flow, good ol’ Marg starts yelling no at Jacinto, whose yells back at her that his word is final. Lucio’s happy and compliments Jacinto on how he treats his wife – yuck. Marg is stunned and of course tries to start an argument, when Fr/Ed comes out and tells her to simmer down, that Jacinto was only doing what he signaled him to do. Fr/Ed, like he’s talking to a 5 year old, has to explain to Marg that he wants to figure out if Lucio spilling his guts because he’s drunk, or if he’s really on Barb’s side.

Barb is in her bedroom and Gonzo enters – he’s happy that she’s made Nanda happy about burying Soledad at the family’s crypt. She says when she married The Gonz that she vowed to care for his family too. She just hopes that Fernanda knows that she’s putting herself in danger. Gonzo, like the Big Mouth Bass that he is, opens up his pie-hole and just waits for Barb to insert the fish hook. She explains that whoever sent the flowers is very close to them, obviously. She fakes being scared that this whole thing will turn against her. Of course he buys it – hook, line, and sinker, and vows to protect her with his life.

Uh oh. Errorika is waking up and her head hurts big time. Who knows what’s worse, the hangover or the beating from Cadmilho. She turns on the light and has no idea where she is. That must be an awful feeling.

Fr/Ed’s walking back to his house in the dark, thinking about Fernanda, and how the memories hurt him so.

Nanda goes to her bedroom with Damian and they talk about how difficult the situation is, with him having to go to New York in the midst of all this business with Soledad. He promises to do everything he can in order to get back quickly. He asks her to come with him, and she says no, they’ve already discussed that. He says that after the funeral he’ll wait for her in New York, he doesn’t want to leave her alone for long. She tells Damian none of this has happened by accident, there’s someone behind it – but she doesn’t tell him she thinks its Eduardo.

Errorika comes down the steps calling out to see if anyone is in the strange house where she has just woken up.

AnyBalls is letting Prisci have it for voting against him. She gives it right back to him. She says they’re together until death separates them, and that Gonzo’s first grandson will be her child.

Vladimir is calling Prisci from his car, but changes his mind and hangs up. He thinks to himself she is a dream come true.

Errorika is still calling out to see if there’s anyone is there. The fireplace sure looks good – the only thing missing is Fr/Ed and his towel. Just then Fr/Ed walks in and asks Errorika if she slept well – she doesn’t remember him at all. He reintroduces himself as Franco Santoro. He reminds her that the name probably doesn’t ring a bell because at the wedding she kept telling him he didn’t have the “face” of a Franco. She’s looking a little nervous. He tells her he brought her to his house because she was in bad shape, and he didn’t know her address. He didn’t think it was a good idea to be asking her boyfriend, either. “Boyfriend?” she says. He says yes, Cadmilho Elizalde. She says, “That pig is not my boyfriend!” He offers her some OJ that actually looks more like watered-down Sunny D – maybe it’s a new product he’s testing out for Pow-Where Meeeeelk – or something Esteve invented at Harvard as a hangover cure after a frat party. She still doesn’t understand why she’s there and why he wanted to help her. She says until he proves otherwise she’s going to think he brought her to his house with other intentions. He says, yes, I have brought you here with other intentions – she jumps up, immediately afraid and stares him down.

Damian struts in the bedroom, showing off his six pack in his open pyjama shirt and gets lovey-dovey with Nanda. By the look on her face, she’s not really diggin’ it. He gets serious when takes off his glasses. She explains to him that she wants their first night together to be unforgettable. He tries to go for it again, and she backs away saying she feels very sad. She promises that one day soon that they’ll do it. He can’t believe she’s saying they’re not going to consummate their marriage until after he gets back from Nueva York. Dude! She’s just not that into you!!!! He said he never imagined that his wedding night would turn out like this, and it’s all Franco Santoro’s fault. She doesn’t understand what he has to do with any of this – Damian explains about the business. But, more importantly, she denies ever having seen Franco Santoro in her life. Lying to the hubster already Nanda?

Our favorite galan, f/k/a Ricky McPirateson, tells Errorika that his intentions are only good. He tries to get her to call someone to let them know she’s okay. She calls her maid, Rootie (!) who is very happy to hear from her, and tells her that a gift will be arriving for her tomorrow. Errorika doesn’t seem very interested and hangs up. Finally, Errorika sees her reflection in the mirror and cannot believe her eyes. Shocked at the bruises on her face, she asks, “What’s this?”

Nanda is having another conversation with her alter ego – who always seems to be smarter than the real life Nanda. Smart Nanda questions Not-So-Smart Nanda as to why she lied to her husband about knowing who Franco Santoro was, and why she’s always so nervous when Franco is around.

Aurora is shacking up in Liliana’s old room. Santiago says he’ll tell her all about Liliana later. Aurora says she’s happy to have a warm bed to sleep in tonight. She asks why he doesn’t like Barb. He tries to avoid answering with jokes. She says she’s thinks Barbara is “rara” – or strange. He says that’s the best way to describe her.

Barb is putting droplets of something into El Viejo Gonzo’s nighttime glass of milk. I’m sure it’s probably the opposite of Pow-where Meeeelk.

Aurora tells Santiago how nice Barb and everyone else has been to her. But she says Barb is a bit strong. He confesses that his sister’s marriage was more complicated than he thought, but he’s happy that Aurora was there with him. She says this is the end though – tomorrow she’s leaving to go look for her mother. He begs her to stay. She says she doesn’t want to take advantage of his family’s hospitality. He asks if she’s running off because of all that she witnessed with his family. He said he hasn’t felt this good in years and promises to help her tomorrow look for her mother. He says if she can’t sleep all she has to do is knock on his door and they can go out to the garden and tell stories to the stars and the singing crickets. After he leaves she thinks how nice he is, and how she could really get used to living there, but this kind of happiness can only last for a moment.

At Jacinto’s it looks like all is forgiven with Marg. But Marg’s having doubts about Fr/Ed’s plans. Jacinto says Eduardo is their friend and they have to help him put an end to all the vileness that is La Hiena. Somebody’s knockin’ on the door, somebody’s ringin’ the bell . . . just let ‘em in . . . . It’s Gardenia who still thinks that Jacinto has another woman in the house. Surprise, surprise, she finds Margarita. Gardenia thinks that Jacinto fed Marg a bunch of lies and she believed him. Gardenia can’t get it through her thick head that Jacinto isn’t lying to Margarita. They try to explain that Jacinto’s doing business with the “engineer” Franco Santoro. Gardenia’s not buyin’ it. Margarita says she confirmed it with Franco Santoro.

Back to Errorika and Fr/Ed. Errorika says there’s no reason left for her to go back to Camilo. [she’s only remembering how he humiliated her with Natasha, though.] Errorika wants a favor from Fr/Ed, but before she asks, she wants to know something personal. She asks him if he’s in a relationship with anyone. He says no, but asks why. She says if he were in a relationship he wouldn’t be able to do her the favor she needs.

Errorika is ashamed of what’s happened, but Fr/Ed tells her she doesn’t have to say anything more about it. She says it’s hard to look at herself in the mirror. She asks him to think about her proposition. He tells her to go and rest and he’ll think about what she’s proposed. She tells him she wishes they would have met under different circumstances. He flashes her his Gazillion Dollar Smile and tells her to go back to sleep, everything will look different in the morning.

Nanda brings Damian coffee in the office. She says she couldn’t sleep. She says she wants to go the chapel. After she leaves, he thinks to himself he can’t believe that the death of a servant could actually ruin a wedding night. How sensitive Snake Boy!
Nanda’s in the capilla, crying, and asking La Virgencita for help with the pain of losing Soledad (shades of Slofia!).

Barbara is on the phone with the Evil Gay Doctor from the Crazy House. She tells him she doesn’t care how he does it, but he better find out what Liliana told Fernanda the day she came and visited. He tells her he tried, but Barb is not satisfied with that answer at all. She wonders where the pair of “tortolitos” (two little birds) could be? I assume she’s thinking of Damian and Nanda?

Fr/Ed’s torn between his juramento with Nanda and the deal that Errorika has proposed. He doesn’t understand why the promise he made to Fernanda so long ago should even matter anymore.
Nanda-fia is still crying in the chapel. She misses Soledad’s warm hugs. She says Soledad went away like water spilling through her hands.

Fr/Ed says soon Fernanda will find out that it was him who ruined her wedding.

More crying, when Soledad’s ghost appears behind Nanda to touch her shoulder. I can’t stand when they put ghosts in the novelas – except when it was Rosario haunting Feo in FELS!

Previews: A nurse is trying to coax Liliana into seeing her sister, but I’m pretty sure it’s a trick cooked up by Dr. Gay. Fr/Ed looks like he’s going to go along with Errorika’s plan. Nanda tries to trick Jacinto into telling her that Eddie’s back in town. Barb gives Damian his wedding night after all!

Comments:
I'm sure someone else has already noted this. Erika Vallejo, Camillo's punching bag, looked so familiar. Then I had the "aha" moment! It's feisty Jimena from my first full length and most favorite of all time telenovela, Pasion!

It was her eyes.

Melissa, Thanks for the fantastic recap. So quick too. I was practicing not relying on the captions since they are so late on Dish and are actually cut off when they cut to commercials.

Lots of links to the next moves. I just knew BOW would get to enjoy the wedding night novio, well they show them in previews getting it on almost continually so it wasn't such a leap of imagination. And I was not surprised that Papa Bear just got nice warm milk with knock out drops so he would sleep through BOW's night of pasion. Errika and Gardenia and Lucio are going to make things so much more complicated but so goes the plot drivers. If anyone understood, listened, and acted sensibly, the telenovelas could be over in two weeks and this one will go until October, time for lots of stupid moves, plots foiled and lovers not finding each other.

Hey Riberajoe, Right, isn't she interesting looking in modern garb. I hope she gets out of this victim mode really quick. I loved her as the spunky spitfire Jimena so Errika needs to sober up and kick some butt with CamilHo.

Oh and thanks for the perfect title.

Melissa, thank you so much for the super fast and wonderful recap.

I thought the OJ looked like Tang. And if he thought she was asleep and it was the middle of the night, why did he have a big old pitcher of juice sitting out? Its not like he has servants, he has to clean up after himself.

Are Gardenia and Jancinto related? Or Gardenia and Margarita? I was guessing by the way she was yelling at them both she had some family ties to them? I love how they just left her fuming and went to bed.

So Aurora gets to see more then she bargained for with Babs, will she tell Santiago?

Haven't read it yet but AWESOME TITLE. You rock, Melissa.

Thanks, Melissa~~~Someone dropped by last night , so I missed most of this episode. I appreciate the recap.

Molly~~~Gardenia, Margarita, and Flor are sisters.

Does anyone else remember Dominga as Frankie the smarmy Frog's mother in DA ??? He was Isadora's lover.

Thanks you guys. I think Erika is going to be one of the best characters in this novela. She's a really good actress too - I love it that even though you've seen an actor in something and you think you'll be reminded of the other part they played in a new novela they're so good that you don't even give it a second thought. Otherwise it would be Darren Stevens from Bewitched Syndrome!

Fabulous work without captions! thanks so much.

I think Gardenia and Margarita are sisters and Flor is their cousin.

Does anyone know why Cigarman is so intent on keeping Eduardo separated from the Izalde family? I don't get that part.

Anabelle L.

Poor Aurora, from the cruel Dominga to the worse Babs. Aurora & Babs showed some sign of recognition when they met.

I think I saw Jacinto mouth sth to Marg about the house when Fr/Ed nodded yes to letting Lucio move in.

I thought Nanda gave Aurora the clothes, ¿sí o no?

Pris has nice false eyelashes, unlike Nanda's & beautiful blue eyes. I really like her character.

TG there are no split screen thought between the star-crossed lovers like DA & FELS, at least not yet.

I just love the way Fr/Ed says Pow-where meeeelk. Perfect phonetics.

Gardenia, Margarita & Floracita
are hermanas.

Tks Melissa for a fun recap.

Great recap Melissa! I fell asleep and missed the last 10 minutes.

Ok girls, don't you just hate it when a man says, "My word is final." Ha--NOT.

I think Dominga was Dona Jose wasn't she?

Does anyone have a link to the Camilho smackdown of Errorika? I thought it was on Thursday's episode but it was deleted for some reason on my dvr. I hope that slimy little rat bastard gets a serious beating on his orange oompa loompa body!

What category are the Spanish movies on Netflix under? I love Pan's Labyrinth.

Oh, Melissa, you are too funny....loved the new names: Pow- where Meeeeelk, Gonzo the Big Mouth Bass, The Gonz, Smart Nanda and Not-So-Smart Nanda, Evil Gay Doctor from the Crazy House, Sbake Boy.

Poor Jacinto, he never gets a break. He finally has Margarita back and Gardenia interrupts them before he and Margarita can reach the bedroom.

I'm lovin" cute Santiago with the fright wig and all.

The Sunny D comment was hilarious. They missed a perfect opportunity for another product sponsorship since we were all looking at that thin concoction of orange liquid our favorite galan, f/k/a Ricky McPirateson was serving Errorika .GinCA

Sorry, Snake Boy not Sbake Boy. GinCA

Melissa - thank you for the recap! Sans CCs, I miss some of the conversation. I love your title, too. LOL

I’ll bet Gonzo’s first grandchild, courtesy of Priscilla, will be fathered by Vladimir. Why else would Telerisa bother with this storyline?

Are we surprised that the noche de bodas is not consummated? (a resounding) NO. It’s in the telenovela rules. Methinks Damian has some nice feelings for Fernanda; it's more than just carrying out orders. He likes her.

Santiago is such a cutie, despite his bad caveman hair. I think he's going to be one of our heroes, and quite the polar opposite of his brother Camilo, too.

Sucio....er...Lucio--- I just keep hearing anvils falling whenever he's on screen. The actor plays his part well because I cannot stand him.

Santiago has a nice smile. I like this character much better than Meester James. I think he's kind of cute.

re the question about why does cigarman/Barbara want Eduardo and Fernanda separated?

There were two basic reasons, as I recall:

1) This was a strategy when they were younger - to prevent any rivals for Fernanda and therefore to setup the marriage with their "strawman" that just happened. Now, in real life, she would have been pursued by half the country, but this isn't real life - hee-hee.

2) Also, while Soledad was alive, Barbara wanted Soledad and Eduardo to have as little contact as possible - because Soledad might "spill the beans" about Barbara killing Mom Elizalde and putting Lili in the asylum when she wasn't really nuts.

Ris

Regarding the frat brother helping to setup the PowerMilk identity.

Is he really connected with the real PowerMilk company in the US - as in the son of the owner or some such thing? So as to give "legitimacy" to the identity?

Or are Eduardo and his frat brother setting this whole PowerMilk thing up as a total sham?

Thanks for the recap, Melissa, very well done.
Aurora sure is getting an eye/earfull on this poster child of a dysfunctional family- she's in for even more. She is going to be an interseting addition to the plot, I'm sure. Like others have said, it wouldn't surprise me that there is some connection from the past with BOW. I'd like to see the relationship with Santiago blossom, and dispell any questions about his sexual orientation. She sure is easy on the eyes, too.
I, too think that Damian truly likes/loves Fernanda, and that he is unaware of how truly evil Babs is.
What is with Slucio wanting Soledad's house keys- isn't Babs supposed to give him a house, (at least in his mind)? Who does that house really belong to? Isn't it part of the Elizalde property?
Wonder when Fer is going to figure out that Frankie is Eddy? Seems pretty obvious- she feels something when she sees him, he seems familiar, he shows up at the same time that Eddy's manipulations begin. Is she really as slow as Slofia? THAT'S hard to believe.
The flaming shrink is going to tighten the screws on Lili- that's not going to be pertty. Maybe Eddy or Fernanda will stumble in and intervene- somebody's gotta save the poor, abandoned girl before they do destroy her completely. I hope so, anyway.

Thanks, SF229, for clearing up the motives behind Eddy/Fer separation. Also, I think that the whole "Pow-where-meelk" is a complete sham, an d not sure how they will pull it off. Now that the longest weeding day is almost behind us (we know that Aurora witnesses a Babs/Damian wrestling match), we'll find out soon, I hope...

Thanks for another great recap,Melissa. I really enjoyed this episode and your recap captures the the spirit and charm wonderfully.

I thought I saw a sly smile peek through on Bab's face as our Moptop celebrated the outcome of the family referendum on Soledad. It almost looked as if there was a bit of begrudged admiration mixed with annoyance. I think that she is realizing that he is a force to be reckoned with.

Hats off to Nanda who may be the smartest TN heroines ever. I believe that she not only knows that Eddie's back, but that he's none other than Frankie.

Condolences to Damian. I fear that last night was your one best shot at Nanda (or as Judy so elegantly put it, some nuptial nookie). Well, Babs doesn't seem to be such a bad consolation prize. Enjoy Nuevo York, sucker.

Melissa, thanks once again for a great recap.

I love Santiago, he reminds me of a grownup cherub with that hair. He is the only one with any smarts and sure know how to get to Barb. Yes, Carlos, she needs to be careful with Santi.

I agree that Smart Nanda has it figured out but No-So-Smart Nanda, I am no so sure about. The two Nandas need to merge and pronto.

Perfect title, amazing recap—THANK YOU! I was distracted by all the TV schedule adjustments (and trying to check NCAAW basketball scores) and missed the first 5 min. Well, I missed more than that even after I started watching. I continued my personal experiment last night to determine if the presence of the CCs interferes with my aural comprehension: off Monday—good listening; on Tuesday—bad listening. Tonight will be an off night. Another factor, however, is extraneous noise—even my Guatemalan roommate sometimes misses dialogue when the sound effects are particularly intrusive (which is most of the time for me). I also have a personal rule that I have to walk on the treadmill for 30 min of the 2 hr I watch TNs—some sort of penance, I suppose, but the noise is another distraction.

I, too, am warming up to Santiago. Aurora seems to be among the few guileless characters in MEPS. I think Fer is supposed to come across as being sincere, but the acting/script writing hasn’t yet convinced me. (I basically don’t like a lot of yelling/screaming. Seems like Fer overdid it at her wedding.) Lil’s “treatment” continues to haunt me. I will be happier when she is rescued than when Fer and Ed/Fr finally get together!

Agnes there did seem to be a lot of clanking and banging during the Santi/Aurora scene in the bedroom. At least it wasn't the peeing fountain!

Thank you thank you Melissa. I had SO much trouble focusing on the dialog in the Franco scenes. Completely distracting images!
I didn't even know I could be so distracted by a physical appearance. WHAT is it about TBLMOE!? besides looks and talent! This show is on tape - not live! So something is going on that even gets captured on tape!

Hi Melissa, thanks for the hilarious recap. "Big mouth bass opening his pie hole", too funny!

I like the actor who plays Lucio, he's got some great facial expressions and good comedic timing. I hope he doesn't die too soon.

Very clever title Melissa, and great job without the CCs.

Prissy is so lovely and has a killer smile with wit to match. So how come Ab, who is supposedly interested in maintaining the Superior Family status, is not at all interested in an heir to the family?.

Maybe he's gay.

I'm thinking that maybe Anibal is the gay one. Santiago has been kind of shunned by the fam, because they think he might be gay, and he looks like he could have been playing along with that perception, tho I think he is completely hetero.

Damian does not truly love Fernanda. I think he is aware that Lili's mental health illness was concocted by Barb, and he went along on the visit to Sole's to report to Barb not because he's interested in supporting Fer. Of course he makes an appearance of sincerity and caring. He's just good at performing his job like other professional prostitutes. What I expect to happen is that Damian will like her (Fern) more and Barb less thus drawing a line at how far he will go against Fern.

Melissa: Thanks for the wonderful recap.

Not only are Margarita (Daisy), Gardenia (needs no explanation), and Florecita related, they all have "flower" names. How cute. But, I thought Flor was a cousin.

Vladamir will have an important part to play in this novela. He'll probably father Priscilla's child. There's something about him that reminds me of a vampire, like prominent canine teeth?

Agnes, you and I are on the same wavelength about Lil. She was a cute, frisky, defiant (yes and somewhat insufferable) normal teen, and then she was thrust into a living Hell for 15+years. We definitely need to spring her...soon! Of all the characters, she is the most deserving of reparations.

Carlos

It's not all that important but I thought I heard Barbara tell Flor on the phone to tell her "primas" that they would pay with tears of blood. Anyway, it's a flowery family, for sure.

Margarita looks so harsh with that very dark hair and those brows -- clearly Gardenia is the beauty of that garden.

Bonney, about Damian's feelings- what you said is probably more accurate- that he doesn't truly love her. Absolutely, he will come to like her better, and probably grow to despise BOW, we've already seen some of his displeasure with her. I don't think that he is a bad guy, not in the evil way that BOW is, and you are right, he will go only so far against Fernanda. My money sez that he will break his alliance with BOW at some point.

The chicken sound effects previously were funny and meaningful. But at Franco's I heard klops too loud for burning fireplace logs popping. And snaps just lower pitched of gun shots. What was that about?

I also thought a small house was part of Lucio's benefits package but Barb won't like it that he has picked the place and even secured the keys!

BTW, Carlo I saw that in Barb's smile too. Lucero like Colunga seem able to project multiple reactions flowing across their faces. How wonderful is that! I do get so bored with 'character desperado face'being the only look for months.

Now if Fern gets to proving the idea that Franco is Edwardo won't he have to dispel that idea?

I'm not sure how much Damian even knows about Bab's plan. I don't even know if he knows about Cigar Man.

I do recall that after he invested all of the company's money as Babs told him to (a few weeks ago), she gloated that soon the company would be bankrupt, and he seemed a little surprised to hear that this was her plan. Not shocked, but definitely taken off guard.

If Babs "surprises" him too many more times, or asks him to get his hands dirty (so far he hasn't broken the law), that will be the real test of his loyalty.

Thanks Melissa for filling in some stuff I missed. Did Erica actually reveal her plan to viewerville, or is it a secret?

I also think that Anibal is gay (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Thank you Susanlynn and others for the family ties. I appreciate it.

Bonney, great insite on Damian, I think you may have hit on it.

About TBLMOE, not only is he stunning, but he has a very expressive face. That whole scene where Jacinto and Marg were fighting outside was all his reaction no dialog, also when he was in the kitchen. That is very hard to do an sustain as and actor. They make good use of him in the background of scene and it speaks to his real ability and not just being pretty set dressing.

Santiago is so charming that when he gets going, I forget the hair. He has got to be one of Fr/Eds team!

Doris, your "Sucio....er...Lucio" - priceless! I think we've found our moniker!

Who will be Gonzo's first nieto? Child of Pris and Vlad? Maybe. But how about child of Erika and Fr/Ed?

Erika rolled in the hay with Camilo, she finally hates him, and she asked Ed for a special favor that he couldn't do if he had a girlfriend. I say her plan is to get pregnant by Ed when everyone thinks Cam is the only one she's been involved with lately. Then she'll use the pregnancy to extort something out of Cam, making him suffer badly or be publicly humiliated somehow.

Not saying that her plan will work. But if it did, two of Gonzo's sons would have purported hijos, but both would actually be by other men, thus not being true bloodline nietos. Leaving the space for Primero Nieto open for Fernanda's baby. And no, that's not a spoiler. The heroine always gets pregnant, right?

I'm disappointed that we haven't had any phone smashing yet. :-{

Oh, one more thing. Regarding CCs. I only use them when I recap. On our old TV I couldn't get them so I "grew up" (past two years) w/o them. When we got the new TV, I discovered that when I have CCs I stop listening to the audio and I also tend to stop watching faces. I can do one or the other, not both. (When the CCs are in English, I can still watch faces.)

Since my main goal is to improve my listening comprehension, I keep the CCs off. But Boy Howdy, on recap nights I sure do miss them! I can rewind five times and STILL be lost.

Thanks for the recap Melissa. Loved the title and poor Damien will never be able to consummate their marriage.

Bonney - Loved your take on Damien. Though I have to agree with Dorado Dave in that I don't think Damien is as evil as Barb. He is Barb's and knows this marriage is a business arrangement on his part but there are worse jobs he's done (I'm sure).

So what's Erika going to propose to Fr/Ed aside that he become her novio. This is a great plot line ... can you imagine HAVING to ask HIM to be your novio?!! And even better, we know he's going to say yes. HA.

Based on hair color (remember Eva and Sophia on FELS), I'm guessing that Aurora is Barb's daughter (or other close relative).

ITA free Lil!

I'm biased here, but I think damian is a scumbag that will soon try to gain everything for himself. He will betray Dear Babs but not really side with the Elizalde family nor with Eduardo/Franco. I guess the bandwagon is officially up. Nod to Dorado Dave and Carlos.

Liberate Lil!!! There got it off my chest. :)

Ibarramedia

Call me STUNNED. What! Slimy Cad be embarrassed at inpregnating Erroika?
He who still doesn't know he's been picked up off the ground at his sister's wedding?
And Barb! BIRTH A CHILD!? Without eating it!?
Just kidding! :-)

I am with Ibarramedia regarding Damien, what a scumbag! The only person he cares about is himself. He cannot keep his hand off of Barb and marries another and will expect sexual favors at some point - he definitely needs to go and fast. I don't think he even cares about his madre!

Oh, nothing as straightforward as that, Bonny. Something complicated, as convoluted as a plate of spaghetti, in good novela tradition. Like, Cad wins the governor's daughter and gets a cushy public affairs position, but the governor finds out about Erika's baby and sends Cad as his special envoy to Siberia. Unaccompanied. Something fun like that.

Seems like Erika said something about going back with her to the Elizalde's pad, inference that I took was, let's pretend that we had a good time together, now we'll be (pretend) novios. My assumption is that she wants to make Camil-ho jealous, and wanted to make sure that this ruse would not adversely affect any relationship that Frankie might have. I jhave a feeling that she's going to find out soon that Frankie is really Eddy, and that they become allies.
I do want to clarify- I don't think that Damian is a good guy- afterall, he's bought in to this sham marriage, and a peripheral (at least) involvment in the ruin of the company. He's just not evil. He could become a crucial factor for either side in the ultimate struggle. I would not want him handling my money...

Lovin that script Paula! ...convoluted dish of spagetti %-}

And if Erika and Fr/Ed decide to pretend to be involved, how will newly married, unconsumated Nanda feel about that? Will she be happy for her best friend?

That's what I mean about Erika having bad dangerous judgement. If she does this pretend novio to make Slimy Cad jealous then she's trying to hold on to some idea that this will make him sorry for letting me go and 'want me back'.
But if her plan is to have Franco go into a jealous rage and beat him up? As one Recapper said she drunkenly remarked he (Franco) should be named Zorro.

Eduardo/Franco will discover the letters to both Fernanda and to him. He will reveal himself to Fernanda. Together they will plot to find out what cigarman really intends. They will somehow get Liliana out of that asylum and Who knows, Babs may be an ally in the future.... Does not mean he will wait to the end to reveal himslef to Fernanda. Just speculation on my part.

And guys it's Liberate lil. It rhymes. ;)

Santiago is wearing Camila’s brother’s wig from Pasion. Wasn’t his name Santiago too?

Is Vladamir going to be a bad guy, or am I just remembering him as a bad guy in a previous novella? Can’t remember which one.

I think Paula’s plot about babies sounds great—and fits the novella mold nicely.

Connie, we haven’t seen any phone smashing yet because we haven’t seen Damian really pissed yet. He’s learned a little control since Destilando. I think it’s coming, though!

I like the idea of Err and Ed pretending to be novios. That could serve three purposes: punish Fer some more, give Err the satisfaction of showing Cad he’s not the only dude in town, get Err on Ed’s side.

Liberate Lil!

I don't think that Eddy and Errorika will be boffing at all.

I agree, dorado dave, telenovios never have deliberate sex with another woman once they fix on their novia. A common ploy is for a villana to drug and/or inebriate them to get pregnant, sometimes even pretending to have had sex to cover a pregnancy by another guy. TBLMOE is always in control. He's not going to do more than pretend to be in love with Erica.

Yes, Liberate Lil! I think I'll have to FF if they show another scene of the poor girl being shot up by that despicable doctor.

Dave I am with you on that! Even if she doesn't figure out who she is, I don't think he could do that. It would make him a big jerk and she was his childhood friend to. But they may let others think they are.

I hope Lili gives that terrible scumbag doctor a taste of his own medicine, literally. I hope she takes that needle and jabs it in him and he foams and flops around on the floor.

Great recap with a great title! Thanks, Melissa. Lots of funny bits there: big mouth bass Gonzo, watery SunnyD as a post frat party invention, smart and not-so-smart Nanda.
Thanks to all the commenters for such lively conversation and excellent suggestions for ways events could happen. I feel like we shifted gears and are heading up the mountain. (But it'll be a long and winding road.) Lots of juicy characters and events to ponder and chew over, low tedium factor so far.

What you said, Connie- that Lili frees herself. I think that she is gonna bust herself outa there. No one else seems to be interested in her anymore. Ciro planted the thought that the pawn takes out the queen, and i think she's doing it on her own- shades of "Coucoo's Nest"! ( maybe my favorite movie.), but with a btter outcome...

I'm with that. I appreciate that Lili is learning life skills and if she works her way out of the nut cage she will feel that fiestyness of her teen years. She won't lean on her father or her eldest brother expecting them to protect her. She will know she can do it herself.

I want Fr/Ed to visit Lili again. He didn't seemed like he wanted to leave her there, and she certainly came out of her stupor when he showed up. Its risky for him, but he can't just forget about her now that he sees where she is.

Melissa. Thank you! I love the voice in which you write this as an all-seeing non-dispassionate observer of the entire MEPs world. Here's a cute non-dispassionate quote: "The fireplace sure looks good – the only thing missing is Fr/Ed and his towel." HAHAHHAHHAHA!!! Love it!

"Gonzo, like the Big Mouth Bass that he is, opens up his pie-hole and just waits for Barb to insert the fish hook! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Finally, Errorika sees her reflection in the mirror and cannot believe her eyes. Shocked at the bruises on her face, she asks, “What’s this?” I don't know. I never been beat up but I did have a pretty rough dental extraction that left me swollen and in pain, I think I coulda felt that even without the mirror!

Pow-where Meeeelk Ah dang, ya beat me to it! This nails the pronunciation!

"Gardenia’s not buyin’ it." Hoo boy, Gardenia is going to try to play sleuth, she knows just enough to be dangerous and going to get her own or somebody else's tusch in a crack.

Aurora ". . . .thinks, there’s something about Barb that troubles, but intrigues her, she’s not sure what it is. . . ." How bout that she's got the morals of a female yard dog in heat! Aurora gets an eyefull tonight!! Think she'll tell Santi?

Excellent recap. The scenes of Eddie and Erika makes me have Pasion flashbacks of Ric and Jimena. So I wonder if Erika and Eddie are going to pretend to be a couple. I think Eddie won't have to worry about revealing to Nanda that he ruined her wedding since she suspects he's back in town and per the previews asked Jacinto so. Well I figured Nanda wouldn't be in the mood for some loving and Damian is none too thrilled about. But Babs is more than willing to give him some nookie. It looks as though someone else is about to get an eyeful of them getting it on. First Gardenia, now Aurora per the previews.

I'm guessing that Lil is high on Frankie's things to do list. He truly seemed compassionate when he visited her.

Here's hoping that Soledad's belated funeral is as exciting and eventful as Nanda's wedding. Say what you will about the Elizaldes, they sure know how to throw a part

Liberate Lil!

I think Damian does care about Fernanda on some level. I think he started out as a straight-up fortune hunter put on the job by Babs, but has come to care about Fernanda. He was way too disappointed about missing the wedding night! And, of course, he's demonstrating typical male telenovela guy (non hero variety) morality by seeing nothing wrong with jumping Babs' bones every chance he gets.

It irks me that Fer is so self-absorbed in her grief over Soledad’s passing that she apparently hasn’t given Lil a thought lately. If she directed as much energy and emotion to helping Lil as she does to moving Soledad’s body, she would be doing something worthwhile and making a difference in a loved one’s tortured existence! The location of a dead relative’s body has never really been a priority for me, so I can’t identify with the importance of this issue to Fer. After all, wasn’t Soledad banished from the Big House at about the same time as Ed left for boarding school when Fer was 9 or 10 years old? It doesn’t seem like Fer and Soledad would have had many opportunities to nourish their relationship before Fer herself was shipped off to school.

I'm having a hard time warming up to Nanda. She seems a little self-absorbed to me.

No no. Imho Fernanda was the only family member that gives a damn about Liliana. She visited her in the asylum and wanted her at the wedding. She visited multiple times in fact. The machinations of cigarman through Babs prevented all that.

Fernanda just found out about Soledad's death when the bouquet of flowers arrived and was read aloud. She then franctically sought proof and wanted to see it in her own eyes. That is why she visited the cemetery and just about forced her way in. Keep in mind that as of now, the events in the novela does not follow real time. Real time to us is 5-6 weeks. There it is only about 4 days since Soledad died, Eduardo has been back at least a week and things are happeneing so fast.

Fernanda is probably more selfless than most of us here. I think she is compassionate enough. It is her family who is more self absorbed in their pettiness. I'm fine being the lone dissenter, with respect to all. Perdoname, lo ciento.

I may be judging Fer too harshly regarding her preoccupation with moving Soledad's body. Maybe moving the body is Fer's way of participating in the grieving process and finding closure, which she had been denied.

The important thing to remember, IMO, is that for Fernanda, Soledad is a second mother. And actually a better, more nurturing parent than her actual biological mother. So her shock at learning of her death, and her obsession with having her in the crypt with the rest of the family seems natural to me.

Mind you, I don't think of either of my parents (whom I miss to this day) as being in the cemetary. Their essence has nothing to do with those embalmed bodies in a casket. Their essence is carried in my heart, the hearts of my brother and sister and the hearts of all our children.

But for some people, placement of the body is very important.

I agree with Dorado Dave about Erika's plan. I thought I heard the word "saliendo" or going out with, as in let's tell them we're going together.

Beth: In Pasión, Santiago was Camila's first love, not her brother. I think her brother was Vasco. Both Santiago and Vasco had long wigs, but I think they were blonder than our Santiago's.

I think the fact that we can't decide if Damian is good or bad, really in love with Fernanda or not, means the actor is doing a good job of teasing us, just like with the phones. I do think he'll ultimately be bad, but who knows if he'll be on Barb's side or his own?

Quoted for truth Judy. Also the fact that she was only dead for 3 days and not 3 months...

My grandmother made sure that her childrens' "nana" was buried in the family plot. She felt it was the least she could do for someone who had given so much. Noblesse oblige, I guess. We children also loved this lady who came back into the family as a sort of companion in her later years after everybody emigrated to the States and my grandmother could no longer afford to hire her. I find it fitting that when I go to the grave, I can honor these ancestors even if they aren't blood relations.

On the other hand, I, personally, plan to have my own ashes cast to the four winds.

Oh, and thank you Melissa. I almost forgot my manners. You did a brilliant recap. I also wanted to thank you for recommending the Frances Gilmore book. I have not read it and am planning to once I can get my hands on a copy. It seems to be out of print.

At Fers graduation, she said how much she owed to Soledad, not sure who else she mentioned but probably los padres.
She was anxious to show Sole her wedding dress, so I'm sure they still had a close relationship.

I hope Damian gives Babs a taste of her own medicine, I don't care if it's as a bad guy or good guy.

Pasofino, there is another flower name in this novella - Jacinto means hyacinth.

Melissa! You are too funny. I'm loving this site and definitely your recaps! I'll be here post-M-W shows, Th. and F I get to watch for real with Fer. - laurafern11 ;)

Hehe, Nanda was indisposed, oh Silvia! If this was TV Azteca Fernanda and Damián would had have sex, you are officially a Televisa heroine now!

Great recap Melissa!

Pasofino, maybe Vlad reminds you of a vampire because of his name, which could be very appropriate for this show...Vlad the impale-her.

Gee, 3 days without a MEPS fix. Let's hope we don't have too severe a withdrawal. Judy, I mentioned that Ramona was my 1st TN. Here is a little clip that may give a hint of why it pulled a guy with minimal Spanish skills into it's web: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLLlshAB3d0 (I tried to link to it but it didn't work. I had no CCs(I'm not even sure they were available then. I did have a well-used rewind button, normal hearing(unlike now), and a trusty English/Spanish Dictionary. And of course all of those beautiful people to look at. It was my 1st exposure to Sergio Sendel, and his chilling portrayal of a frontier sheriff gave me a whole new reference of evil. It was also the only TN I've ever seen that actually snuffed the main galan. They don't make shows like this anymore.

By the way, both the Baylor and OSU girlies are still alive.
