Las tontas no van #90, Mon 4/13, It’s a runaway extravaganza!

In tonight’s episode, Chava wants to run away with Pat, Gregoria wants to run away from Art’s advances (run, Gogo, run!), Candy runs away from a difficult conversation with Soledad, Candy won’t let Soledad run away from a difficult conversation, and Rocío runs away.

Chava decides that if his dad isn’t going to live there anymore, he wants to live with his dad rather than his mom. Candy looks like a piano just fell on her head. The only person she has ever cared about more than herself is threatening to leave her. Chava has just given Pat tremendous control over Candy, right on the heels of Candy telling Pat to move out, but Pat declines. Since the beginning, Pat has struggled to be a better person, and today he shows himself noble. Gathering all his strength, he tells Chava that the boy’s number one job is to take care of his mama, so he must never tell her that he doesn’t want to live with her because it would make her sad. Pat only lets himself cry when Chava isn’t looking. What a hero! With one stroke, he willingly gives up the company of the two people he loves most.

Ed proves to Chayo that the woman who appeared at her door was a fraud. He doesn’t have a second house, a second wife, or any children. Chayo feels like a fool for giving the woman all Ed’s money. He kisses her to make her feel better, as we look at their portrait and think of once and future happier times.

Santi has a suggestion for Marissa. He can arrange for the baby to be born at his clinic (where he will have more control). Mar sends him back to the kitchen for salt and chili and lemon (because she wants more control over him).

Santiago goes home and is surprised to find Pat in his den, the same room where Candy broke the bad news to him. Santi must be wondering if Pat is there to deck him for taking his wife. Quite the contrary. Pat tries to explain that he left Candy’s house and didn’t know where he’d end up. Santiago is still the closest thing he has to a friend. Santi suggests he’ll find someone else, but Pat is sure he’ll never love anyone else (I’m sure Santiago can relate to that). Continuing his hero streak, Pat tells Santi that he doesn’t blame Santi for what happened, and what he wants most is for Candy to be happy.

Candy reassures Chava that even though Pat is moving out, Chava will still see him, and his daddy still loves him. She falls asleep next to Chava and dreams a montage of our favorite moments between Candy and Santiago: tonight’s serenade, orange-sweater support during the leukemia crisis, the buried heart box, dueling serenades, “estoy dispuesta,” an attempted medallion return, phone dancing, one-winged angels, and a surprise tango. She awakens with a startle and a smile that says, “What a man!” Yeah, Candy, it’s about time that you wake up!

Santiago meets with Luc and Charly to check where their relationship stands, and to suggest that they go together to talk to a doctor who was Santi’s much-respected mentor.

At a restaurant, Gregoria repeatedly asks Arturo to stop holding her hand. He repeatedly ignores her request. (I adore you. Now shut up.) What’s next, handcuffs? Even though she doesn’t want him to touch her hand, he feels it is appropriate to ask her, “Do you have to return to your house to sleep?”

In the morning, Charly is running out the front door and meets Gregoria coming in. Charly thinks she must have gotten up and gone out early. He says, “Al que madruga, Dios lo ayuda” (God helps those who wake up early). Meño notices that when she ‘woke up early,’ she put on last night’s clothing. Candy comes down for breakfast, Meño covers for Greg, Candy gives him a look, and Meño tells her, “Don’t ask me questions that will make me lie.” He suggests that Greg is changing from a pillar of salt into a woman. With a man who respects his neckties more than he respects her. But who am I to judge?

Charly, Lucía, and their fathers meet with Santi’s old mentor, a respected immunologist who has good things to say about Santi professionally. They discuss the course of Charly’s treatment and the progress of the disease. The doctor wants to talk to Charly and Luc alone, and Charly looks like he’s been sent to the asst. principal’s office. The doctor gives them a PSA that’s more direct and harsh than the ones to date.

Ceci shows up at Soledad’s door in the morning to take her out to breakfast. She would like to rent a room from Sol to save money and also help out Sol. Soledad gives her usual wide-eyed stumped look. Sol goes to Candy for advice, and in her usual sensitive, considerate manner, Candy bashes Soledad for being anti-gay.

On the subject of unwanted visitors, Paulina shows up at the big house with suitcases. Rocío is ecstatic to see her. Isabel, not so much. Pau asks Roc, “How would you like if I move to Guadalajara?” She must have heard that Santiago is getting married.

In the waiting room, Meño notices that Santiago seems so content lately. He admits that his life is going better. On one side, he is relieved that Luc is safe. On the other side, he feels hopeful about Candy now that she sent Pat packing. Meño asks, isn’t he comprometido (engaged) to corn-hair? No, Santi corrects, he is comprometido (committed) to his son whom corn-hair carries. And all he can think about is Candy. It’s only fair that now he deserves his turn. Meño compares him to Vicente Fernandez (whereas Santiago compares himself to the sexier Alejandro Fernandez); I don’t know why. Meño agrees that Santi deserves Candy, but he observes that Santi’s palm says an obstacle is on the road to his love life. His palm must know that there are still fifty episodes left in the series.

Ole sneaks into the institute. He’s tired of no women liking him, and he’s tired of the “pain in the neck” from tilting back his head to look at anyone. Lulu assures him that he’s just fine as he is, and to prove it she gives him a big kiss.

Donato is upset that Paulina is back. Tina is upset that she might have another lump.

Cleaning up breakfast, Candy asks her mom what’s going on. Gogo says, “Last night I slept with Art.” But that was her imagination. What she actually says is, “Last night I dreamed about your father.”

Santi is in his office telling Mar she’s supposed to be on bed rest. Paulina barges in and says, “I’m here to tell you, you can’t marry this woman.” Santi tries to stop the catfight; I say he should sell tickets. Mar rebukes Pau for abandoning her own child. Pau comes right back, saying that Mar is trying to take her baby from his own father for revenge. Mar and Santi ask in unison, “How did you know?” Mar and Pau continue trading insults, talking simultaneously, and I can’t understand a word. But Santi can. He is laughing at each jab because he likes seeing both brujas get what-for. Mar and Pau ask in unison, “What are you laughing at?”

Soledad puts it to Candy. “You dumped Pat? You don’t like him now? I gave up without a fight because you convinced me that you loved him (querer). He and I were fine until you showed up.” Candy’s usual answer? “Now is not the time to talk about this.”

Rocío calls her papa. “When my mama moves in with us, can she stay in my room?” Papa explains that Pau will stay in a hotel. And “we’ll talk about this when I get home” (I love how Santi acts like a father instead of a buddy). Roc turns on the tears and hangs up. Santi tries to set Pau straight. “Stop making Roc promises you can’t fulfill.” He also tells her to stop popping in and out of her daughter’s life. Pau’s request? “Don’t marry that woman. When are you ever going to learn how to choose a partner?” Preach it, Sister! Santi tries to talk to Mar about the upcoming wedding (or lack thereof), but she waddles off before he can say anything.

Candy, who flees every serious conversation, insists Soledad talk to Ceci right now about her opinion of Ceci moving in, whether Soledad wants to or not. (And Candy is involved in this decision because.. ???)

Art comes to see Gregoria, but she’s taking Chava to the park to play soccer, so he invites himself along. Later Margarita shows up at the door, and Charly tells her that Art and Gogo went to the park. Marg gives a knowing look.

Don takes Pau’s suitcases out of Rocío’s room to move them to her hotel, per Santi’s instructions. He refuses to listen to Roc’s pleas. Luc is too busy studying, so she doesn’t listen to Roc either. So Roc stows away in the car, catches a ride to her mama’s hotel, and tricks the bellhop into taking her to Paulina’s room.

Remember how happy Pau was to see Roc when she was trying to invade Santi’s house? Notice how unhappy she is to see Roc when it doesn’t advance her goals? Roc wants to stay, but Pau insists on calling Santi to let him know where his daughter is. While Pau is getting her some ice cream, Roc answers the knock on the hotel room door. She opens the door and sees her papi’s belt buckle. Going up from there, he looks every inch the father, large and in charge. Ruh-roh!

Paula, I'm not sure why but I think this might be one of my favorite of your recaps. Maybe because at the end of the paragraphs you add a brief editorial comment, much like a couplet at the end of the sonnet, that sums up the scene but also adds a dose of truth and revelation. Well done.

Gah! Paulina is back. I hate how she tortures Rocio when she's around. I hope La Familia decides to gang up on her.

Oh my, Gregoria spent the night with Arturo?!? I'm speechless.

Wow, you really Mariloca look Loca. Nice job of capturing the moment!

Oh, and I forgot to say what a funny shot of daddy's buckle. It's absolutely perfect from a kid's perspective.

(To clarify my first comment, I meant to say you really MADE Mariloca look loca. But you know what I meant.)

Indeed it is! Great photos - especially of course of Papa furioso.

I loved that Lulu smacked one on Tono. I was figuring her for Zam, but maybe Ton is the one for her, guess we'll have to wait and see.

Is it me or are they making her look prettier these days. I always thought she was cute, but it seems like they are making her more of a woman and less of a character lately. I like that.

Thanks speedy!

Good observation about Lulu. Not to mention her characterizations were horribly insulting. Please, let's have Lulu as a cute and smart woman and no more dressing her up in tutus and smearing her face with fudgesicles!

This is a rushed morning and I won't be able to read the recap (or see the show) until the afternoon....but from the comments, I can hardly wait! Sounds like you hit another home run, Paula.

Paula: I loved the thoughtful comments you peppered throughout your terrific recap: "Santi...can arrange for the baby to be born at his clinic (where he will have more control). Mar sends him back to the kitchen for salt and chili and lemon (because she wants more control over him)."

Dark days for those of us on Team Pat (hope I'm not totally alone). I cried along with Pat when he told Chava he must take care of his mother and "With one stroke, he willingly gives up the company of the two people he loves most."
Let's not forget that this has been very hard on Chava too. Sigh.

Candy has no hesitation to question anyone not wishing to deal with difficult subjects, as long as she herself isn't part of the equation. I was so happy to see that Soledad "puts it to Candy. “You dumped Pat? You don’t like him now? I gave up without a fight because you convinced me that you loved him (querer). He and I were fine until you showed up.” Candy’s usual answer? “Now is not the time to talk about this.”

I'm conflicted about whether Soledad and Pat should end up together. Are they capable of undergoing emotional transformations to the point he could truly put Candy aside and love only Soledad? If so, would Soledad ever be able to feel she wasn't second choice?

Anyone else feel Margarita and Art aren't through as a couple? When push comes to shove, I think she still cares about him and won't give him up without a fight. (not that I understand why :))

Fuego, Lulu is looking lovlier these days, I totally agree.

Sylvia,"Please, let's have Lulu as a cute and smart woman". Yes, let's!!! We need more of her beautiful smile and great sense of humor.

Arturo's personality is so repulsive to me, I don't know why either one of them would want him.

Margarita is darned tired of him, and Gregoria hasn't had love in so long, she must be desperate.

I was never convinced that Patricio wouldn't start fooling around again after he got Candy to give in and accept him.

Father and son have wandering eyes, and Patricio in particular is very weak.

When he was vowing to Santiago last night how Candy was the love of his life before they got married, I was just rolling my eyes, thinking "so what?"

That's not much of a prize. He couldn't be faithful then, when he was at his self-admitted idealized best.

I look for Patricio to eventually go back to Alicia. They gave Patricio and Alicia a nice scene last week, where Patricio enumerated all the good things about her and their relationship.

I look at that and other such scenes as touchstones to remind viewers that the two of them belong together and are going to reunite at some point.

They built a life together with that business, and Alicia loves him passionately.

Patricio may fool around with Soledad again in the meantime, which would make Beto happy; but I think he's destined for Alicia.

Yes, a very clever and interesting recap! Thanks!

Was it just me or did it really seem that Candy really butted in regarding CeCe moving in with Soledad. It seemed to me that when Soledad tried to tell Candy what CeCe wanted to do, Candy jumped in with "What a great idea" and completely cut off Soledad and what she was trying to say. Then when the 3 of them were together at the cafe or whatever, she took charge again. What the heck? Why is this her business?

I'm really peeved with Candy right now!!! After hurting Pat and Chava, now she's bumbling along forcing her ideas on yet another person.

I can't believe Gregoria has already stayed the night with Arturo. I'd like to see her find a man, but Arturo is just creepy. He just seem to leer at her. I can't believe it's any kind of honorable love. At first he did seem like he wanted her friendship, but he's moving too fast in my opinion!

Did Meño really call Marissa "corn hair?" I knew he said something about her hair and it wasn't complimentary! How funny! Does anyone remember the word he used? I'd like to add it to my vocabulary. I've already added, "Qué asco!" That is one of his favorites and it's just such a good all round insult!

I really enjoy the character of Meño. He's compassionate, wise, and when he plays the meddling, stereotypical effeminate gay, he's so good at it. (I hope I didn't offend anyone with that remark.) He's funny!

Thank you Paula!
I think the cat fight was my favorite part of the evening.
Pat has become very likeable and appears sincere in his feelings for Candy and Chava.
I too feel he may end up with Alicia. She is the only one (besides the kids) who really loves him.
Candy is, (as a friend of mine says about her husband) getting on my "last nerve".
She was very bossy to Sole, and the move in or not decision was none of her business. She avoided Cece herself when she found out about Ce's feelings toward her.
Pau has a different look now. I think her hair is darker, and is she even thinner?
Mariloca is getting rounder by the minute. I wonder now if the wedding is suppose to be before or after the baby is born?

STILL haven't seen the show but at least I got to read your fine recap. Loved the quip about Gregoria going to bed with a guy who respects his neckties more than he does her. And I was furious at Meño sanctimonious "the only sin in God's eyes is the failure to love" as a goad to get her to go to bed with that aged horndog. Hardly "agape" love, Meño. More like just a really bad decision.

Also laughed at your description of Meño's palm reading and "impediment" where you said, more like he knows there are still 50 episodes to go! Tell it like it is, sistah!

Thanks as always, Miss Paula.

Very good recap, Paula.I've already resigned myself to Pato's losing out (in reality might he not be the winner?). Did you notice that he referred to Candy as Señorita Candy? Could it be that he's finally given up, or will he regroup and make another run at Candy? Will Candy quit sending him those mixed messages?

Carlos

Jeri and Carrie, interesting comments about the possibility of Pat ending up with Alicia.

Although both Pat and Alicia share the blame for Pat's unfaithfullness prior to the wedding, I see Alicia's betrayal of her own sister as fairly unpardonable. Even now she is continuing to plot and scheme with Marissa regarding Mari's innocent, unborn son. That's beyond despicable and for that reason alone, really hope Pat does not end up with her.

It's impossible to say if Pat will be faithful forever but thus far, he has reformed since Candy reappeared.

Carlos: "I've already resigned myself to Pato's losing out (in reality might he not be the winner?)." Yes, he may be :) Diana in MA

Patricio's hurting now, but in a couple of years he'll be a bit more philosophical about what might have been and offer a "Gracias a Dios" whenever he thinks about his near train wreck w/ Candy. At least Candy's not playing power games w/ Chava as weapon of choice as Soledad did w/ Beto. And Alicia, IMO, doesn't love Patricio, only the lifestyle his money affords her.

The actress who plays Marissa has GOT to be having a ball with this role! Paula, you're right, Santiago should sell tickets to the Marissa-Paulina catfight.

Alicia has never indicated she loves Patricio for his money; indeed, Alicia has helped build the successful business they share. She doesn't need him for that.

Alicia loves Patricio in the same imperfect way that Patricio has loved Candy; they are a logical match for each other. When Patricio strays, Alicia puts up with it, as long as he comes home to her.

Since they are not legally married, I am picturing that in the end, they make it legal -- and probably not in Vegas this time.

Much of the catfight 'beat my lips' because of the overtalking and all the slang terms. I did pick out a few things.
* Pau calls Mar a lagartona, a lizard or creeping thing.
* Mar calls Pau a witch (bruja - somewhat vulgar, not used in polite company). Santi replies, "Yes, but such a well-dressed bruja."
* Notice that both brujas are dressed in black.
* When Pau told Mar that everybody knows about Mar's plan, Mar says Pau seems so refined, but she's really just an old washer woman trading gossip all day long.
* When Pau leaves, per the CCs, Santi says, "Solita te diste (dejiste?) en la torre." I think it means, "You'll be left alone in your tower." Perhaps a line from a fairy tale or something?
* Mar thanks Santi for kicking out (sacar) the bruja. Santi answers, "They (note plural) leave on their own. I don't kick them out."
* Santi tells Ed she's "loco de atar." Atar is to tie up, so the phrase means she belongs in a straight jacket.

Jeri, will Pat go back to Ali? Who can know? She's obsessed w/ him like he's obsessed w/ Candy. Funny, earlier he thought he could somehow force Candy to love him, all the while telling Ali that Ali couldn't force him to love her.

Would he cheat on Candy this time? No. I'm sure of it. Pat has grown tremendously. Even since Soledad. Look at what happened w/ Chava. Pat could get custody with the excuse that it's what Chava wants (which is a very good reason). Candy would be on his doorstep every day. Better than handcuffs! And he honestly adores Chava and really wants to be with him, unlike Pau's manipulations. But he turned down the chance because he has become honorable.

Paula, a great recap. It zoomed along, and was fun to read. You really know how to get "al grano" (to the point) of each scene.

I'm ambivalent about so many of the characters. I'm rooting for Soledad, but I just don't think Pat loves her, and she shouldn't get her hopes up. I thought it was funny how surprised she was when she told Candy that she wasn't the only homophobic one, what about Pat? And then Candy said, Nope, he's changed, totally backs gays now, is super friendly with Meño.

I don't dislike Arturo as much as some. And I think Gregoria is attracted to him, too. He's bad, but he is handsome and charming, and certainly no wimp.

I'm definitely rooting for Lulu and Toño. They're my favorite couple.

I know it's not popular to be too harsh with kids, but the ones on this show get away with whatever they want, and never seem to be disciplined. I hope Santiago can find a way to deal with Rocío firmly but lovingly.

Paula H, viewers in Mexico would know; but I'm not a spoiler fan. And I think Patricio is the same as always; he was never a bad guy -- just a weak one.

He was awesome to Candy while screwing around on her. He would have loved being a dad -- to multiple, illegitimate families.

He doesn't use Chava against Candy, because it won't do him any good. Candy's big love is her son, and if her son wants his dad, she'll make sure Chava gets to see Patricio.

He's been so darned happy, since heaven gave him his fondest wish and sent Candy back; but he can see she doesn't love him anymore.

Alicia has done unforgivable things, and Patricio has done at least one unforgivable thing that we know of: fathering a child outside of his engagement.

Both of them are flawed characters and well suited to each other. Whether they actually get together, I can't say what the writers might do. I can only point out they logically should.

Deb, Meño called Mar "pelo de elote," corn hair. It harkens to when Mar first confronted Candy in the restaurant for messing with her man, and Candy insulted her dyed hair. In the same conversation, Santi asked Meño, "May I call him Pato?" (duck, or clodhopper). Meño answered, "For all I care you can call him Piojoso - louse."

Deb, you're right! Meño meddles in everyone's personal life, but he doesn't shove them around like Candy.

Carlos, when Pat referred to "Señorita Candy," did you notice how he choked on the word?

Finally, when Soledad challenged Candy, essentially saying, "I gave Pat up for your sake, and now you don't want him?" Was anyone else reminded of a similar (but more moving) scene from LFMB, after the proposal at the resort, when Marcia asks Lety, "I gave him up so he could be happy with you, and now you just throw him away?" Preach it, sister!

Don't think there's redemption for in anyone who in effect attempts to abduct, hurt, swap or cause harm in any way to a child.

Fathering a child out of wedlock may not be ideal but it's far from unforgiveable. What's unforgiveable is scheming to deprive a child of his/her parent. I would hope that the telenova gods would find suitable partners for both of the above, but certainly not each other. My vote for Ali is with Marissa - in jail.

Thanks for coming back Paula and giving us more of the conversation between the twisted sisters.
I'm always so curious on what was really said with all the extra jabs that I appreciate so much your extra time in repeating more details.
I too think Lulu looked very pretty yesterday. I liked her in purple and her hair was nice. Best of all I loved her smack on the lips to Tono. They are a cute pair!
Art reminds me of the spider and Gregoria the innocent fly.
I think Margarita may be the only one who can really handle him. I don't think Gogo has a chance against him and his manipulations.
Santi and the witch fight. What a cute scene! I think Camil enjoyed it as well.
I say less scenes with Candy and more with Santi and the witches. Throw in Meno and Lulu and Tono and I'm happy.

Carrie L.

Sylvia you out did yourself last week with the viper/chipmunk and what was the word you used to describe Pato, desultory? and quotidian about Santi? My my, i'm impressed. I don't think I've even heard the word quotidian before....:)

And Hombre, your old world new world analysis, complete with the rocky sea travel over is just right on. Nice observation.

Regarding the below comments re Marrisa's hair, I actually had the episode in the beginning where Candi said this same thing the first time they met. Elote is actually specifically corn on the cob, not just corn, and this is a reference to her corn cob shaped curls...

My thoughts on Pat and Ali? Well it's not improbable. I too noticed these nice scenes between them, and I also think that they could easily be making it that Pato just thinks he wants Candi.

I've said this before, but at this point what the guy did 8 years ago is irrelevant, frankly, but, if you as a guy (and hunter) were to marry someone you loved (which he did, despite being a young guy straying a bit) and she escaped you at your wedding (prey) and then you thought she was dead and mourned her loss like an obsession for 8 years and all of a sudden she's been given back to you (to hunt again) (nevermind her deceit) that obsession doesn't go away, and of course you are going to try for her to spite your ego, especially if you find you now have a kid and that means something to you.

Frankly, I think what she did to him is worse than his young guy drunken hookups and I might agree with some here that if he ends up without her he may be the lucky one, but only if he's over her somehow, otherwise it's the last eight years all over again.

Ali, well, she's a brat indeed, but, she still has time to redeem herself, and maybe she'll actually rat Marissa out and give the baby back to Santi and Candi hence redeeming herself to her sister, her family, and herself and maybe she and Pato will forgive and forget, I mean except for this obsession and I call it that very purposely with his dead ex- wife for 20 minutes, he had eight years with Ali and that counts for something, longer than he was with Candi.

Anyhow, that's my two centavos. The only person I'm feeling is really bad right now is Mariloca Maternity Witch from hell. I used to feel sorry for her though, so the writers and actors are indeed doing a good job.... :)

There's no redemption involved in Patricio and Alicia reuniting; they are simply suited to each other. Even though Alicia wants that, it's not a reward. It's been a living hell so far; and it will go on that way, as far as I can tell.

And fathering a child outside of his engagement is indeed unforgivable -- not in general, but to Candy. I feel that's the reason she can't love Patricio again.

It's not like some stories, where the couple breaks up and a child is conceived. Patricio and Candy were otherwise deliriously happy during their engagement. It's a fatal flaw, with no excuse.

Candy might have been able to recover from the wedding debacle; but she will have to see Beto as long as she lives. And be thinking there could potentially be who knows how many others out there.

Paula...interesting discussion you've got on the line today and yes, thanks for going back and chewing through that scene (I still haven't seen it...work and meetings up until now) BUT I do know that "dar en la torre" means giving someone a hard time or hitting them where it hurts (psychologically). I'm not sure the provenance of the saying, it might even be from chess...but that's what it means (as far as I know). Native speakers, if I'm "off" let me know. Sort of like hitting 'em with your best shot." Candelaria says it a lot on Cuidado.

Thanks for the recap Paula. Your insights into these crazy characters are always so well thought out. Also thanks to Hombre for Friday.

It's going to be interesting to see how Santi gets away from Mari. And I do hope Gregoria sees the light with Arturo (yeah, she's lonely).

Thank you, everyone, for the comments. I love to see the board buzzing with chatter about the show. Especially all the speculation. It's what makes Caray so fun. In fact, the only reason I was motivated to go back and flesh out more of the catfight, was because it seemed to be everyone's favorite scene.

Karen, you're right about Art and Gregoria. He's charming and she's desperate. But Meño should know better. Why should he push Greg toward such a dirtball?

Judy, thank you for the "dar en la torre." I had no idea. So if the captions were right, "Solita te diste en la torre," did Santi say, "You alone hit yourself where it hurts"? I'm sure the verb was 2nd person preterite, but the IO could've been "le," meaning Mar hit Pau where it hurts.

Paula, I'm in the midst of watching the episode right now...I'll see if I can make sense of it when it comes up.

It almost sounds like "you screwed up on your own"

Okay...now I understand. Paulina is leaving after saying When are you going to learn to choose (well) a mate? And he says...Huh...what about you?then...Hah you said it yourself! (or you dissed yourself!)...she's lamenting his poor choice in women, thereby admitting that she, Paulina, is a poor choice. In other words "ya said it yourself, kid".

I didn't catch that exchange between the two locas really, so I'm not much help there, but Judy makes sense I think.

I guess my point with Pato is that if Candi never forgave him for something he did eight years ago, then (as a mature adult who runs an institute for the wellness of mature adult females) she shouldn't have been making like maybe there is room for him in her life and moved him in and all these current events.

I know, I know, she tried to love him again (old loves die hard), and apparently now they are trying to angle that she probably did a lot for Chava, but remember that she was ok being very mean and dismissive to Pato in the first place, and keeping him out of her and her son's life for the last eight years. She didn't care about Chava and his Dad then?

To me, the way this has all been written it's not about the infidelity anymore. It's about their present compatibility or spark and this interfering love she apparently feels for Santi that she just can't deny, despite Santi impregnating another woman and maybe marrying her -one hell of a tough obstacle.

Because I don't think the infidelity is the current overarching reason for her rejection according what they are writing for Candi, to me, his past has been forgiven by her. The infidelity may be a part of what keeps her from being overly attracted to him again vs. Santi, and it was a reason for other of her behaviors, but I don't see it written as the main reason for the latest rejection of Pato. But what do I know, I don't write these things, only watch 'em and it is telenovela land after all!!

Candy has forgiven Patricio, but that doesn't mean it didn't kill her love. She still cares about him, but she doesn't love him anymore. In addition, the occasions are not confined to the past; Candy knows Patricio slept with Beto's mom again more than once in the recent past.

Personally, her reaction to the wedding fiasco was not what I would have done. And probably 99.9% of viewers would not have had themselves declared dead to their family.

But that's Candy. I've always said that someone like her starts an institute because they need it so badly themselves. She's always doing things behind her own emotional back.

The plotline with Beto is not just a side plot. They needed more than the wedding fiasco to create more lasting tension between the Candy character and the second galan. And Beto is the kicker.

Oh, P.S: I meant to mention that Candy did not move Patricio into the house. She allowed him to use Chava briefly in that way, but she never felt right about it.

She's going to have to have him draw up the divorce papers again at some point.
