MEPS #105 Monday July 13

Fr/Ed and Fernanda are talking at Fr/Ed’s house, Gonzalo calls each of them in turn to invite them to a Grupo Lactos board meeting.

Gonzalo tells Barbara he included Fr/Ed because it would be Grupo Lactos money used for Lily’s ransom and Fr/Ed is a full board member. I’m surprised Gonz got that point to stick and didn’t cave to whatever Barbara told him to do. First time for everything. Santiago even mentions later this episode to Aurora, about Gonzalo, “he’s just an extended mouthpiece for his wife.” Even his kids know he has no independent will.

Fr/Ed tells Fernanda before they leave that he found out from Adolfina how to contact Obregon, so they should try and find out if he is actually part of Barb’s plan or if Barbara is just using his name to rip off Grupo Lactos.

Venus is dressed up and looking hot for her date with Camilo. Martina tells her how worried she is about the whole situation, she’s scared of Camilo and what might happen. On top of that, Lily won’t do anything but stand and stare out the window, so Martina is all up in arms about everything right now.

At the board meeting, (I’m surprised they jumped right to this, this show usually takes a five minute car ride and turns it into a week of episodes) Fernanda says they shouldn’t pay the ransom. There is no proof that Obregon has Lily. Barbara says that the last time he called her, she heard Lily’s voice in the background. Fr/Ed and Fernanda both shift and make faces when she says this, it’s all they can do to keep their mouths shut about what a huge big fat liar Barbara is. Fr/Ed agrees with Fernanda, so do Santiago and Anibal, but Anibal only because he’s cheap. Camilo keeps making disrespectful comments about his ‘loca’ sister and Gonzalo almost throws him out. Fr/Ed tries to get to the bottom of the whole thing. Who has Obregon talked to? Only Barbara. They have notified the police, right? No, Barbara didn’t want to. Hmm. Nice job by Fr/Ed laying everything at Barbara’s feet. He suggests that the next time Obregon calls, they demand that he provide a photo of Lily holding a dated newspaper to prove he has her. Everyone agrees, even Barb because she has no choice.

Gardenia, also looking hot, even though she is annoying the absolute hell out of me lately, puts her letter on Fr/Ed’s bed, behind a pillow. Someday we’ll find out what’s in it. She speaks to the empty room about her anger and jealousy of Fr/Ed marrying that hussy Erika.

Fr/Ed and Fernanda make up a lame excuse to go to her office and talk in private. On the way out she tells Gonzalo she is calling Flor to bring her back, Anibal starts to whine but Gonzalo shuts him up, telling him that they have proven her innocence so shut up already. After they leave, Santiago says what a great guy this Franco Santoro is, now that he got to know him a little bit today. Camilo and Barbara now take their turn making faces.

Fr/Ed tells Fernanda that they can wait for Barbara to make a move, or they can put out word that Barbara Greco has died! That was supposed to be suspenseful, but it’s just how they will contact Obregon.

Barbara complains to Artemio Bravo about the problem with Lily, and that if she shows up now they lose everything after all her lies.

Martina can’t get any response from Lily, Fr/Ed and Fernanda arrive and have no luck either.

In her office, Barbara teases Damian about Fernanda and her ‘lover.’ He wants to know when all this will be over, she says like you tell a kid, ‘when the time is right.’ She says that they have an appointment later on and after that, Fernanda won’t want to leave him alone at all, she’ll want to spend all her time with him and take care of him. He looks a bit worried since she won’t give him details, but he obviously likes the idea.

Lily sees Ciro out in the yard, glowing like an angel.

Santiago tells Aurora about the board meeting, he is bummed about what a loser family he has. He suggests moving out to a hotel the very next day. PLEASE PLEASE DO IT so the ‘haunting of Aurora’ story can come to an end. Please I beg you please.

Damian and Barbara park their cars (inexplicably) facing each other with the headlights lighting them up like they are on stage. They appear to be in the same parking lot/street where Damian and Fernanda were reunited a while back.

Santiago gets a phone call, it’s Damian and he needs someone to come get him, he doesn’t want to leave where he is alone because he doesn’t feel safe.

Damian wants to know what’s going on, why are they here? Barbara turns her back and pulls out a gun, then turns and shoots Damian while he tries to grab her hand. Too late!

Venus arrives at the bar and talks to Esteve on the phone, going over the plan again. Camilo arrives, slime trailing behind him.

Barbara says ‘see ya’ to Damian and gets in her car and leaves.

Aurora is scared being along in the house (what’s new) and goes looking for Tomasa, not knowing that she got the afternoon off. The kitchen is empty.

Tomasa arrives at Jacinto’s house with tamales (mmmmmmmmmmmmm). Jacinto and Margarita can’t believe La Hiena gave her time off. Tomasa asks for Gardenia and is told she is ‘so happy’ working for Santoro, just like Jacinto.

Fernanda and Fr/Ed go to the office of some small newspaper to place a fake death notice for Barbara, I guess this is the paper Obregon will be checking.

Venus and Camilo have drinks, she goes on and on about what a monster Steve is about her going out, she’s like a prisoner!

Lily won’t eat, she’s in bed now. Martina gives up and leaves. Ciro glows into the room and tells Lily to sleep in peace, which she does, even though the room is as bright as if the sun were in the middle of it.

Venus cries and cries, suckering Camilo in more and more. She shows a little leg to get his interest (and how could it not, let’s be real here) and he is falling for the whole show completely. Her phone rings, she doesn’t answer, then cries about how Esteve is going to kill her for not answering. Camilo gets a phone call, it’s Barbara wanting to know if he’s home yet. He says no, he had a date, remember? She says you have an appointment all right, with ME at the house, get your ass home. He says ok he’ll be there.

Fr/Ed and Fernanda pay for the death notice and leave the little office.

Santiago drives around looking for Damian.

Venus goes to the bathroom to call Esteve, who is happy as hell about the way things are going, he wants details but she keeps telling him that Camilo is leaving. He says that she should agree to wait for him to come back later. She goes back out and says she’ll wait for Camilo to return, but boo hoo her uncle is going to kill her. Camilo lays some slimy “I’ll protcect you” crap on her and leaves. Venus smiles to herself, proud of the job she is doing.

In her car, Barbara calls Gonzalo and says that Obregon called again and is going to call Gonzalo at his office, so he has to stay there. Gonzalo is showing his normal stupidity again and says ok, he’ll stay there.

Fr/Ed gets pulled over, the cop comes up and says the car was reported stolen. I’m a bit confused about this. Fr/Ed produces the papers on the car, then the cop wants his drivers license. Fr/Ed hesitates because his license is in the name ‘Eduardo Juarez’. He gets out and tells the cop he can’t find his license, can’t they just forget all this? The cop says no way, follow me downtown to answer some questions. He says fine and goes back to tell Fernanda to get a cab home, she says como crees hombre she won’t let him go alone, she’s going with him. Fr/Ed sees there is no room to argue and sighs.

Camilo returns home to meet Barbara, he shows her the dropper and bottle he has for Aurora, some kind of roofies or something I would guess.

Aurora is alone in her room and worried (tell me something new).

Santiago finds Damian laying in the street, he pulls clothes apart until he finds that he was shot in the leg.

Camilo goes into Aurora’s room to get his slime on, She tells him how nervous/scared she is, he pulls out the bottle of roofies and tells her it’s some homeopathic anxiety relief. She stupidly doesn’t even hesitate and pops down a full dropper of the liquid. Did I mention how much I hate her? She is such a wet blanket over this show.

Tomorrow – Santiago gets Damian to a hospital. Fr/Ed’s problems with the cops continue.

"Camilo arrives, slime trailing behind him", brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Nice job as always Ferro. I like your style!

Great recap, Ferro. Very succinct, which I love.

I don't think Babs intended to do more than wound Damian. She told him in her office that after this night Fernanda was going to spoil him and take care of him like never before. So I suppose the shooting is the nutty TN way of getting Fer back on his side. Sheesh!! I'd like to think Damian wouldn't keep quiet about this, but we know better, don't we. La Hiena won't be outed quite yet.

I can't resist this. I saw a portion of an oldie on TV tonight: Contra el viento y marea. And who should appear but our gal Gardenia waaaay before she was DDenia, shall we say.

Thanks for the recap, Ferro. Good snark, too.

I can't believe Barb shot Damian. Why would she just leave him there if he's not supposed to die, as novelera proposed? I'm not following Barb's train of thought. If she meant to kill him, you'd think she would have stayed there to make sure he was dead. ? ? ?

I guess Dam won't be doing the horizontal tango with Barb any more, after this, if he lives. At least he has Vlad to cook for him and be a good wife. ;-)

And why did Dam call Santi and ask him to come there? That was too weird, or did I miss something?

Camilo arrives, slime trailing behind him....just like Sylvia, I was delighted with that phrase.

Always enjoy your recaps, Chris. Just saw the last few minutes of this one, and missed Friday entirely so I was mind-boggled when I saw that Damian was shot.

Well, at least something happened in this episode. Please, guardian angels...protect both Lily and Aurora...the latter certainly needs a Ciro in her corner.

Thanks so much, Ferro. Jeez, the whole damned hacienda is just one big trunk full of marionettes for the Evilbitch! Someone probably already answered, Doris, Babs made Damn call Santiago to tell him that lie to get him out of the house with Abora. And Camilo, slime indeed. Anybody understand why the heck it matters that he gets the hots for Venus, uh, Loave-ly? It's not like him being horny and sliming a woman is a novel behavior, what's the big deal?

Khalilah

I hope Damian really does rat Babs out to Fernanda. Thoroughly. If I were in his position I would assume that my days were numbered anyway and try to join the team that's less likely to kill me.

If he tells Fer, there's a remote chance that she'll take his side. But if he doesn't tell Fer, then he's still stuck with his only allies being Crazy Lady With Gun, Lovesick Moron Who Isn't Good At This Stuff, and Pregnant Lady Who's Being Blackmailed.

It's not exactly a dream team, is it? Seems like it would be a good time to join Team Fer/FrEd. Maybe they'd tell him to go jump in the lake, but it wouldn't hurt him to ask.

Even if they take him to the police, he's probably safer in jail than on the loose at this point. But I guess he doesn't know that yet - he doesn't know all the other bad stuff Babs has done. For example, he doesn't know what she did to Montserrat and Lili and Soledad and Ed, not to mention what she allegedly did to her mother.

Khalilah, I thought at first that the plan with Lovely was to keep Camilo busy and distracted so that he can't "help" Babs any more, but since he wasn't much help to her anyway, maybe it's just revenge for the way he's treated Erika and Jacinto.

Great recap Ferro. You sure do know how to describe Cadmil-ho! He is certainly slimy.

How many of you were yelling at Abora to not take the drops? Even though I know yelling at the TV doesn't work I still do it anyway. Don't do it, don't do it! It's really hard to feel sorry for someone who is that stupid.

I'm a little confused about Venus also. Why all of a sudden is Tio Esteve such a bad guy? I guess I'm not following very well.

Thanks, Ferro , for that fast recap. I agree with Sylvia and Judyb about the slime line describing Camilo perfectly. I'm not sure why Esteve and Fr'ed want Lovely Venus to distract Camilo , or maybe they just want to play him the same way he has played others [Erika, Santi, etc] We can only hope that it will all make sense someday soon. I was very surprised by Barb shooting Dam. I did not see that coming ...except in the preview . She is really one stone cold mujer. I thought she shot him in the stomach, but I guess she shot him in the leg. I suppose Fer will feel obligated to be by his side as he recovers. Bleeccchhh. Now, Fr'ed has some explaining to do with the police and helpful Fer wants to be there, too. How will ONH get out of this one ? Julie~~~It would make sense for Dam to cut his losses and jump over to the good guys team , but we all know that TN folks rarely take the logical course of action. Can't wait to see what happens tonight. Will Fr'ed ever go to bed so that he can find that letter and we can all find out what's in it ?

Thanks Ferro, enjoyed your concise, amusing recap.

They seems to be leading us to believe that Venus might fall for Camil-ho. Is she so deprived that she would fall in luuuve with the first guy who doesn't try to smack her? I'm giving her more credit than that for now and hoping they don't have her fall for such a scumbag.

Damn Dam! Can't say I feel sorry for the fool. I see no redeeming qualities in this guy. Well anyway, he had it coming...
jb

Thanks for the recap Ferro. Clarification: The cop asks Fr/Ed if he owns the car. He says that it's a rental, and then the cop wants to see the car rental documents. I love how the writers set this one up--whoodathunk that Fr/Ed would get stopped by the cops while driving with Fer and have to deal with his real drivers license?

Also, Babs has carefully set up the Camilo/Abora hit by telling Tomasa to take the afternoon/evening off. This assures that absolutely no one will be at home. Somehow I think she set up Damian's call to Santi to make sure he'd be out of the house too.

Damn, I want some of Tomasa's tamales!!

Dona Gringuita

Oh dear, it was such a good episode because Fer and EdFr were having a productive evening TOGETHER and it seemed that Dam had met an early death (mucho sangre) and that would mean that Fer would become a widow and then free to marry! I guess you all are correct, most likely Dam is just injured and will need his WIFE to nurse him back to health. We must be through the extended part of the TN, at least lots was happening last night.

Thanks Ferro for the very timely, informative recap.

Stupid me, I was wondering how Camilo was going to get Aurora to take the drug. That girl needs to see the wizard for a brain. She is trusting the 2 people that Santiago trusts the least.

And Damian, he could have bled to death. Things are getting very weird. Did he get Santiago because he was the only one at home? Since when are they best buds?

Fr/Ed has Franco Santoro's DL, that's how he became Franco Santoro, but I guess it has Franco Santoro's picture on it.

After raping Aurora, Camilo is going to slime back to Looov leee??

While Abora is a total retard, I certainly don't want anything bad to happen to her. Reminds me of Sophia and we certainly don't want to live through another Mexidoon.

What ever happened to the car? It was built up that something was going to happen at the party regarding the car but nothing really happened. Is that another mystery not solved? Adjusting beanie...

Connie, the car is in the shop for maintenance. That's why Steve gave Franco the rental car keys.

Ibarramedia

Ferro: nice! and ditto the previous comments about slimy NaranHo...that man skeeves me out completely.

But I'm a little worried about the knock-out drug. In true TN fashion, the Ho probably won't defile Abora but she will be put in a compromising position. I hope the Ho doesn't decide to use the same drug of Venus...no spoiler but something I was pondering last night as she evaded his kiss (ew!!!). If she plays "come hither" too well & then shuts him off, there's no telling what the scumball will do.

Another thought (gee, I guess I remembered to plug my brain in or I'm getting totally sucked into MEPS Land) & again, no spoiler: perhaps DDenia's note to Fr/Ed threatens to expose his real identity IF he marries Err...?? She did address the envelope to Eduardo.

I was very surprised Babs shot Dam but they can't possibly write him out of the script yet. So, did Babs intend to harm or is she only capable of murder when it's an 80 year old man sent tumbling down a hill? Amateur.

Oh Fr/Ed...your lies are building up & you may need bail $$. Call me. Pronto.

Maggarita
:-)

Oh, and one more editorial aside: if someone handed Abora a knife & told her to slice a few veins because it will relieve her nasty headache, I'm guessing she'd say "okey dokey!" She's stuck on stupid.

Maggarita

Thanks Ibarramedia. I guess I didn't catch that part.

I can see that Aurora would be confused on how to treat Barbara, she is her boyfriend's step mother and seeming she is being kind to her. Also, I'm not sure how I would react while being at my boyfriend's very grand hacienda when visited by a fantasma. I can see that she might with hold info so as not to make trouble and be thought of as a loca. But, Camillo has CREEP stamped all over him. She needs to wake up and not ride double, take mysterious meds or even let him in her room . I have tried to be patient with Aurora because of her terrible background, but I'm losing my patience on this one.

Sandy In TN

Thanks, Chris, great recap.

I can't believe that Babs shot Dam like that. It was like the writers need to do something of interest. letting Santi know where he is. It appears that she did not want him dead, which would make sense. Wounding him severely would only confirm his enemy status, but that appears to be what she intended. Was he shot in the gut, the leg, or both? Note to Babs- next time you want to plug someone at close range, do not wear white.

Abora the stupid. Here, drink this, it will calm your nerves. Mybe she will O.D., and she will be put out of our misery.

Where is the seduction of Cad going? What is the purpose?

Gardenia, what are you doing? There is still time to save yourself from yourself. I know you will be redeemed in the end, but make all your detractors eat crow.

I don't know what the broo-ha-ha was about an anon/Carlos/now Ibarra is all about. Everyone- keep your personal opinions about other bloggers to yourself, especially if you are too cowardly to use an ID. If this blog site affects you to the point of making "unfriendly" remarks, this is not the place for you.

Sandy- Abora has been given the chance several times to get out of this crazy house and live with Santi in their own place, again last night. She won't go, Babs has he rconvinced that the haunting will follow her. Gee, I think I'd try that, let Babs say"I told you so" when it happens. No, she is terminally stupid, and we don't even get to see her in her skivvies anymore to make up for what she drains from the screen...

I sure hope Dam's blood ruined the plaid pants so we don't have to see them again! I thought she shot him in the stomach but then it looked like it was in his leg. And I didn't even hear a shot.

She was using a very effective silencer, Connie. I did hear one faint "poof", so it surprised me to see the leg wound. This is TNLandia, afterall.

I just read yesterday's late posts. Everyone- keep comments to others pleasant, or to yourself.

I saw the silencer and was waiting for the pop so I guess I just missed it.

DDave,

As I said, I have TRIED to be patient with her. She is very supportive of Santi and bubbles ( a little!) when he is around. She isn't a selfish, aggressive woman as some are in the TNs are, and in a way, real life as well. But, on the whole, I am losing patience with her as the rest of the posters did early on. She needs to grow a little. She has been given love and support from Santi and even with that, she can't seem to find her way!

Sandy in TN

Dave is right Connie. If you noticed the extention on Babs' pistol, that is the silencer. It can be screwed on the barrel of the gun.

Ibarramedia

I could hurt Franco with my very own hands! What is he doing driving around with a dead man's license?! He burned irreplacable photos of his parents and carries around a dead man's license! eSteve-eSteve, check his pockets please because unrequited lov has affected his brain. And make sure he has lunch money and an umbrella 'cause it's going to rain.

Babs plan, I think, is to have Santiago find Aurora in bed with Camilo & throw her out. But it looks like Santiago will be tied up with Damian for awhile.

Does anyone have any idea why the policia would think Esteve's car is stolen?

Thank you Ferro. It's a pleasure to hear from you.

Yes Barb did ask Damian if he had his phone and then told him to call Santiago. All she said then was she would tell him exactly what to say to Santi. Damian is no lamb to the slaughter, he's just egotistical. As Jardinera, I believe said it, without reality based supporting evidence Damian thinks he knows what he's doing.

Yes, Dam is kind of a "lamb to the slaughter", because while he knows what an evil, nasty bitch Babs is, he does not know that she is capable of murder. She's killed 4 so far- her parents, Monte, and the caretaker (what's his name? why does no one miss him?). I really don't see how she will get out of this one, but we know she will. I'm betting that, should Dam survive, and I think he will, hemight not finger her, but go for his personal revenge. She's already cheated him out of his promised $3M, now shot him. She is running out of allies, Gonzo is standing up to her (to her surprise), Abora can't be counted (or count w/o using fingers), and Any?balls isn't helping her, and Cad is worthless. I'm not counting Arty, he's in the background.

I didn't hear a shot either, just saw Damn's stricken face.

I think the car that's in the shop is that white car Fr/Ed has been driving around; if my theory is correct - no clue why they have a car repair plot point. I think Gonzo's car is still in the garage.

I also think Fr/Ed thought bubbled that his drivers license said Eduardo Juarez and the papers for the car rental said Franco Santoro. I don't think that piece of ID that Eduardo found in the phone booth at the little store was a drivers license, maybe some other form of ID. If the drivers license says Franco Santoro, then he doesn't have a problem.

Babs was pulling strings right and left. Get Gonzo to stay at the office awaiting Obregon's call that will never come. Get Damn out of the house and shot so that Fer has to take care of him. Get Santi out of the house because Damn called him. Of course, Damn didn't know why he was calling Santi. Give Tomasa the afternoon and evening off. I wonder if she used a flow chart!

Wouldn't the rental papers say Steve Norton or is that the same car as Esteve's?

They are in Esteve's car, and the paperwork would be in his name. Why the cops thought it was stolen- anyone's guess, just a devise to put Franco in a tough spot to conceal his true ID from Fer. Where is the Gonzo car plot thread going? have they forgotten it? How is he going to get home from his long day at the office, waiting for the call that won't come?

Chris, A nifty recap and memorable description of Damien. As slimy as the guy is he sure seems to have a way with the ladies. Be very careful, Lovely.

Whoa, was I ever surprised when Babs shot Dam and even more surprised when she didn't polish him off. I thought at least she would run over him as she pulled away in her car. This may delay the honeymoon even more.

Carlos

Evil Barbie really does hang a lot of her plots on people behaving the way she thinks they will. OK, it's a safe bet that if you give Tomasa the afternoon and evening off tht she'll take it, but it's also possible that she'll accidentally leave something at the hacienda and come back for it. Same thing with depending on Camilo--sure, he says he'll come home and hand the roofies over, but what if he actually DID get lucky with Lovely. No way do I believe he'd stop in the middle of the deed to rush home. And the whole time Santiago was looking for Damian--what if he bleeds to death before Santiago gets there because Santi wasn't motivated to move quickly enough? Or what if he got lost along the way? Or stopped for ice cream? Or someone else stumbled across Damian and finished the job? Or his grabbing the gun made her botch her shot so he bleeds to death sooner than she planned for? What if Santiago did decide to bring Aurora with him because she overdid the haunting and she was too scared to stay in the house alone? She's definitely got balls, but she also always seems to get lucky with these convoluted plots of hers!

Great recap, Chris!

Now there are plans, and there are PLANS. At this point, I'd say Bab's plans are a lot more focused, concrete and well thought out than Fr/Ed's "plans". She got everyone out of the house, shot Dam, Camila has successfully gotten Abora to take the drops, and she's working on the Lili/Obregon thing (for example, if AB's men do locate Lili, as they might from the phone number Martina left with Sylvestre, she could continue with the scam, and Fer and Fr/Ed's knowledge of Bab's lies wouldn't help them).

In contrast, Fr/Ed's plan with Gonzo's car makes no sense, his plan with Lovely Norton doesn't seem to do much, and he continually jeopardizes his best ally, Fernanda, by being cold to her (and thinking she still loves Damian).

But one day, the tide will turn (I hope).

Chris, thanks for the funny recap.

If it's been a month since the wedding in TN time, why does Fr/Ed's new car need service at the agency? I see others are are on the same track... even though he was driving Esteve's rental car why would the police think it was stolen? At this point, there are so many loose ends (old guy down the hill, for example) and questions of logic, I think I'll put my mind on autopilot and just enjoy this TN ride without taxing my brain.

And finally, I really thought, CamilHo would have to prepare Abora some nice calming tea to add the knockout potion, but NO, without pause, she took not only one or two drops but kept on going. She makes Slofia from FELS look like a brain surgeon.

GinCA

I guess they wanted to add some real life everyday elements to the novela. I regularly bring my cars to the shop for maintenance. I take good care of them. I even used to be obsessivce about the details and cleaning that I washed them every week when I was younger.

good thing about luxury cars is they let me have a loaner while they worked on my car for free. I'm sure everyone here hates having to wait all day at the dealership for their car to be done.

Ibarramedia

HdM, I hope so too, but alas, when it does, my guess would be that it's because Evil Barbie gets un-lucky rather than because the good guys finally do something right! Eddie shouldn't have passed up that elective class at Haavard :)

Hombre, 5ft. Latina and so many other of you I agree with totally: Babs is a bigtime puppet Mistress and I'm wondering what the hell is she wasting her skills on these dumbasses for. She could soooo blow this popstand, for real. Damn just gon' hang around for her to what? aim a little higher next time and then he sho won't be doin' the bunny hop with anybody. Abora, that lame brain, she might as well have burped and licked her lips after scarfing down the rape-me drops and I could also slap the crap outta Fr/ed for the way he's treating Nanda, one of the few people with sense in this thing. C'mon writers, no showers, no pumpin' iron, no huggin' 'n' luuuvin (Abora and Santi don't count) Give us a break!! SHEESH!!!!

Khalilah

Kalilah,

That's something I don't understand either. I would have thought Babs was the #1 henchperson in the organization. AB doesn't look like he ever gets his hands dirty. Once she had the 3Mil she could have taken off. The company was already ruined. What is she afraid of--that AB will send some other inferior henchperson after her? As if!

Loved this recap and, btw, love the off-topics and good humor from the regulars in which I learn a great deal and get even more enjoyment. I, too, have wondered for a while why Babs doesn't declare that she's won the war, completed the assignment, and go off to her island retreat?? She doesn't seem that concerned about Lili being "on the loose" except as a way to extort more money from Dopey Dairy Don. And her thing against Abora only seems to be jealousy because of her misconception that Abora was Artie's lover. So, some of her role now seems a bit superfluous and after the fact or am I on the wrong track myself? hgr

You're right, Latina, the threat of AB to Babs is totally weakened and it's like everybody is just committing random acts of evil, stupidity and down right poor hygiene (Cadmillo, the slime bucket). .I so want to just lay the beanie aside and enjoy the ride but they're not giving us girls many reasons to drool and sigh. . . .

Khalilah

She (Arora) makes Slofia from FELS look like a brain surgeon. GinCA
what a GREAT line !!!

Question, I'm not a good car person, makes or models, etc., but wasn't Damian driving Gonzo's car the other night when he was shot? I seem to remember him in a BMW convertible early on, unless they make a hardtop convertible. The car he was in looked just like Gonzo's to me.

They must not have gotten BMW to sponsor the program because the fuzzy out the emblem.

Sandy in TN

Chris, thanks once again for a terrific recap.

I do hope that Venus carries salt in her purse (isn't that the way you get rid of slugs and their slime?). There is no hope for Abora. Her gene pool had a little too much clorine.

rsk

It occurs to me that Barbara's behavior is just as much about learned helplessness as Aurora's. Sure, she looks like she's getting stuff done instead of wringing her hands and crying "woe is me", but she's no free agent. She doesn't hate these people or even care about them in any way except that they're standing in the way of her getting her freedom from AB. Seriously, woman, WTF is he really going to do to you? No, for my money, she's responding to old threats and an old script that says Don AB must be obeyed at all costs instead of busting out like we all (from this vantage point) see she can. Really, she's no better off than Aurora, she just manages to look it.

I was watching Destilando at lunch and noticed that Dr. O was the slimy photographer. Has he been in other stuff before?

I agree with whoever said: Don't Feed the Trolls. That means, when somebody annoying comes along in the comments and tries to pick a fight for whatever reason, just ignore them - except the blogger (chris in this case) should feel free to delete freely, and anybody may email me to alert me that there is troll behavior going on. ANON/Anonimo, you're not funny or interesting, just go away and find some other people to bother.

wow.........barbie shot Damian.....on no........i thought he would be the last person she would shoot....now who is she gonna love on.......and the car/ticket for fr/ed....barbie must of set that up too...she wanted everyone out of the house so the slime wad could do his deed...I love this board and come here everyday to read all the recaps and comments.... i have been coming here for along time and have never read anyone insulting another reader or commenter....
this is disturbing to me.....If u don't like the off topics....move on to the next comment and make no big deal of it......please do not ruin this board for me or others.....Beverly IN CA
Thanks for the recap ferro

lol Beverly! I have a tendency to do that too--assume Babs set something up. Like walking in while Fernanda and Gonzalo were talking to Jaime...I thought "Now, how did she know she needed to get him out of there?" Of course, she had nothing to do with that whole subplot, but I always assume she must have known. Maybe she has a special sense that tells her when evil is about to be foiled and she has to run in and stop it :)

Somebody might have already brought this up but how is Babs going to keep Dam from pointing the finger at her? I figured she would hae killed him so he couldn't talk and make it look like he was in the wrong neighborhood at the wrong time.

Great recap Ferro -- thanks.

DDenia is really getting on my nerves. Who is she to think she has the right to Fr/Ed's affections over the other women. I hope she gets caught. I know she doesn't stand a chance with him.

As for Aurora -- she is so STUPID...STUPID...STUPID!!!

Also, I don't think Babs meant to kill Damn but wound him like she did. I think she believes this would get Fer to be sympathetic to Damn and maybe break up any relationship she has going on with Fr/Ed.

Ann-NYC

Doris asked early on why Babs would just leave Damian there if she wanted him to survive. She had already had Damian call Santiago, if I remember correctly, on the premise that his car wouldn't start and he was nervous about walking away because it was a bad neighborhood. Damian had no idea why she did that. But she knew someone would find him before he bled out.

Connie, my guess is that Babs figures Dam won't point his finger at her because he's now afraid of her.

I think Connie raises a good point--what's to keep Dam from saying he's had enough, the shooting was the last straw, and anything bad that's happened in the last 15 or so years--Barbara did it!

The only thing I can think is, how would he prove it, would they think it was just the shock from the wound, etc. Still Anibal's missing parts aren't the only ones missing here--is Damian really such a Barbara's boy that he's going to just let her shoot him and not say a thing?

Conne, Babs wasn't trying to kill Damian. She made the shrewd move: shooting Damian will pretty much insure that Fernanda will rush dutifully to his side, thereby separating her from Franco. At the meeting, Barbara seemed to know very well that Fer and Franco were allied against her and that is muy peligroso for her. And Damian wouldn't dare talk, they have too much on each other. Damian is not a lamb at the slaughter, but he's no rocket scientist either. Babs can play him easily, letting him think this shooting ploy will be an advantage to him. He's so egotistical, macho and greedy that he's bound to fall for it. Anyway, I'd be sooo mad if they killed off Damian so soon. Sergio is really bringing it with this role.

5 Foot, To me it seems that Barbara does hate all the Elizaldes and takes sadistic pleasure in hurting them. It goes beyond her paybheck. I've never understood this. Not one of them has done anything to her.

Jackie J.

Thanks everybody. I remember now. It's been a long day already.

Chris, Thanks for another terrific recap. I always enjoy your dry humor and frank enjoyment of the obviously enjoyable, like lovely Gardenia

GinCa, I really laughed at your suggested picture of Abora with a knife in the OR. ooooowwweee, scary. I actually don't want her to be in charge of firing the rockets either. I guess there has to be at least one character that totally annoys the snot out of everybody. Gardenia is that annoying but just so darn sexy she gets away with more.

I am curious about what she imagines Eduardo will think with her use of very large print on the Kinko's envelope. Does she think he is in need of reading glasses? Maybe this is her idea of what a rich girlie like Errika would do to cajole and/or threaten her beau. Thinking and Gardenia don't fit into the same sentence somehow.

I thought at first that Barbara was behind the police pull over of Fr/Ed and Fernanda but then remembered they are in Steve's car so it is just another lose plot annoyance to keep Fr/Ed busy.

Barbara seems totally capable of manipulating her lazy brained step-children except for Fernanda so I guess she really wants to get Fernanda distracted. It is way too early to bump Damian off so my money is on Santi getting him to the hospital on time. Now we get to wonder what he will reveal if he can talk and how Barbara will get him next time.

In addition to telenovela beanie hats, we all need an EASY button from Staples to hit when the Aurora scenes are on TV.

Doris, I love the idea of the EASY button.

I hope Dam last a little longer, I sure would like to see Pris inflict some pain on him before his demise. After all he did invite Vlad to the wedding which started the ball rolling with this subplot.

Hope no one thinks this is "calling anyone out", but I noticed no one responded to my late night California time post that I'd seen the Gardenia actress on Contra Viento y Marea with normal to small bosoms. Right after I posted my comment, I looked to see if anything had been added to the day before since the last time I looked. There was a comment from Carlos that he and a female friend had decided the DDs were real and case closed.

I get Contra Viento y Marea (a rerun) on some weird extra channel (still Univision) on the DirecTV dish, so I don't know if anyone else can verify my visual on this. But there was a major difference. This is not meant to argue with anyone or disparage the actress' character, real or ficticious.

Maggarita, I'm not worried about Camilo getting fresh with Venus. If he tries anything, she'll beat him up. She's probably also smart enough to keep an eye on her drink (never mind take five drops of whatever; seriously, how did Aurora even get through school in one piece if she just does whatever people say??).

Regarding Babs still sticking around, I thought there was a hint during the first week or so that Bravo might be holding something over her head. Just not any hint as to what it was!

Novelera, I can confirm that they were noticeably smaller in La Fea Mas Bella as well.

If they're "real," then I would like to know what kind of cereal she eats, because there must have been some serious vitamins involved.

Her job is to hurt them. Why does everything go her way though? We need to score one for the good guys pretty soon.

Novelera,

I saw your post and just didn't comment on it. I think that the post that you saw by Carlos was in reference to something else.

"I can dream can't I" seems to be the song that the guys are singing during this TN!!!

Great comments...fun and sassy ! 5FT``I especially enjoyed your description of Dam as a ''Barbara's Boy.'' Good one. Yes, Barb is a multitasker. She has a lot of irons in the fire right now. She seems to particularly enjoy messing with Dam's mind . I suppose that might be because she can drop her phony baloney act of being the concerned stepmother and loving wife . With Dam , she can take off the mask and reveal her evil smirks. She loves to ridicule and bait him after a long day of kissing up to the Elizades and Fr'ed. My guess is that Dam will survive and that Barb will convince him that she only had his best interests at heart. Yes, that will be her angle. She shot him so that Fer give up Franco and return to his side as he recuperates. Barb might even expect a ''Gracias'' from Dam. As for Aurora Bora, all I can say is that when she slurped down that unknown liquid that the oily Camilo offered without any protest , I was reminded of Alice in Wonderland finding the bottle marked ''DRINK ME.'' ...so she did...and grew very, very large. I am wondering where this is all headed and what will be revealed tonight. I want to know what is in that note to Eduardo from Gardenia.

I always tell my daughter never to leave her drink unattended for any reason.

If it works for DDenia maybe we should all write notes to Eduardo! :P

Novelera, my comment last evening was meant to be fraught with irony and a bit of gentle sarcasm. My name came up in reference to previous encounters here where someone took it upon himself(herself)to instruct me about professional propriety and medical ethics, hence the mention of the female(in this case mi esposa of 39 yrs.). I like to at least imagine that DD's DDs are genuine, please don't take that away from me.

By the way I watched Contra Viento y Marea. For some reason I don't remember a lot about it(I can't believe I would forget Gardenia) but little girls do grow up in the most delightful way.

Carlos

Julie: I would LOVE to see Venus beat the stuffing out of NaranHo, even though I don't get the whole seduction plan either. He's just so...so...oily, smarmy, sleazy and just so freakin' orange. I really do cringe every time he's on screen.

So if the TN gods are listening, can we lighten up on the scumball scenes and add a few more Fr/Ed in a towel ones instead?

Eye candy...STAT!!!! especially if the plot makes no sense & is stuck in neutral.

Maggarita
:-P

Carlos, believe me I was not the commenter who posted anything about medical ethics!

And I don't mean to be salty with you here at all. I thoroughly enjoy your point of view and can understand you and the other guys sticking up for a babe like Denia.

It just struck me as such a big difference in her appearance when I accidentally watched 5 minutes of that novela last night that I couldn't resist commenting. And I hadn't even read your post before I posted mine, so it was not meant as a challenge.

Hope we're still cyber friends!

All troll-related comments (except Melinama's) have been deleted, not picking on anyone, just taking the whole thing out of this recap. It's dead.

All Gardenia-boobie related comments have NOT been deleted because Gardenia-boobie related comments are welcomed and encouraged.

Thank you everyone for your nice words. Whoever said they felt bad for saying Aurora is a waste, don't be sorry about it. Her character/storyline is a complete bore and waste of time. Santiago has the capability to be such a great character but is completely wasted by being saddled with Abora. Ugh. She is a pimple on the butt of this show. No matter how nice-looking she may be, none of this is directed at the pretty actress or her acting job, just the writing and character of Abora.

Oh Carlos, we know why you didn't recognize Gardenia, she didn't have her boob job until later.
The guys don't seem to care if it's the real thing or not, just so they are grande.

I write down words while reading the captions. Can't remember the context of this, but it sure applies to our flawed hero
tipazo = great figure (mujer), good build (hombre) or big wig.

The shooting of Damian really has me puzzled. Fernanda is going to take care of him & he is going to thank Babs for shooting him???????
I guess it will keep Fernanda busy for awhile & away from Fr/Ed, which is Babs intention.

Babs has a lot more money than 3 millones, don't forget the transfer from GL, can't remember the amount. It seems Artemio's power is far reaching & he holds the murder of her parent/s over her head.

Connie, I don't remember a photographer in DA either. Looks like I need to watch it again. What was he photographing? I would really like to see Dr O in something else. Let me know when you run across Damian's phone throw.

Variopinta, he was the one that took pictures of Gaviota telling her she was going to be a model in France. He was kind of goofey but when I saw him I knew it was Dr. O.

Novelera, of course. I always enjoy your contributions. I am, however still a bit rattled by what happened to Dam. Babs is definitely a maniac, but I do like her in plaid.

Thanks Chris.

Carlos

Connie, remember how long we had to watch Feo and Gabby get away with it. At least Fer and Fr/Ed are on to Babs in this one.

Ferro, the boobie comments beinging okay to stay had me lol at my desk!

Abora is awful and a waste for Staniago. I would like to see him with DDenia.

Molly~~Interesting suggestion...DDenia and Santi. Wow I think DDenia would rock Santi's world, but I still think she'll end up with Fr'ed's best buddy Esteve. Good luck to whomever wins that feisty hot tamale.

Carlos~~~Barb did look glad clad in plaid, didn't she ?

It would be bad if she was sad in plaid. :-P

Barb and Gabby are very much alike, they are both doing the bunny hop with their son-in-law!

rsk

Venus is for Esteve, maybe a few slips, but definitely for Esteve.

Chris, thanks for the recap and the snarky descriptions.

Maybe Dam's grab threw off Barb's aim, but she shouldn't have shot him in the thigh. If an atery gets hit, people can die from blood loss. Santiago can save him, I guess. I look forward to seeing Damian trying to suffer sweetly under Fernanda's care while bedridden and frustrated. Surely he'll throw something while he's recovering.

Abora IS making Slofia look brilliant. Hard to believe she took the unknown drops so easily.

From what I could tell, Loave-lee was only saying the stuff about Esteve being so jealous and mean to make Naranho more sympathetic to her.

La Paloma

No question - all that stuff about Esteve being a beast was part of the game for Camilo's sake.

Will Franco's O neg universal donor blood come in handy to save our beloved Dam? Carlos

For all those out there who want to study up on telenovelas -there is a new book coming out next month -
Telenovelas (part of the Ilan Stavans Library of Latino Civilization). It appears to be a collection of essays and articles and the cover has the ladies from FELS on it.

Cristina in CO

Wow, Cristina. I want one. Do we think this book will be on Amazon?

Of course I want an intellectual explanation of why I'm spending so much time watching TNs. Surely it's to improve my cultural understanding and language skills. Not addicted, not me. No sir!

Thank you Chris, and thank you Melinama. Somehow I don't think this was how you planned to spend your time in Paris. :)

Excellent recap, as alwasy, Ferro!

I didn't hear the shot. Just the previews seemed to have it. Thought I wasn't paying close enough attention.....

I have no patience for Ah waw-waw. I don't care if Santi kicks her from here to kingdom come at this point once he finds her where we all know he must if Barbie's plan is successful. Ugh!!!
=============

Beth et al: Sorry not to have realized so late last night that Cielo Azul crap was an attempt to spoil the fun. I raced through it and tiredly thought it was just another rant. There is mucho egg on my face.....So, Melinama, thanks for catching it.

I just checked Amazon and you may pre-order the book for $55.00 - sort of pricey.

I happened to run across a few scenes of Gardenia on that telenovela the other day as well. As I recognized her, I stopped and watched for a few minutes. While watching I was trying to figure out why, though not unattractive in this televnovela, she was not the beauty she is in MEPS. Was it the dress? Was it the makeup? Gosh, it didn't occur to me, maybe it was the breasts!
Just have to add a little fuel to the fire--breasts can be pushed up and mashed down in various ways so that their real origins are can be disguised unless there is significant exposure. I happen to be in the manufactured camp for DDenia because there was one scene of her walking along the road where I thought no way her boobs could stick up so high with so little support. But maybe it was just jealousy and a good tape job by her dresser. Not to pick on Carlos, but I think there was a scene where Erika was in Fer's office and he pronounced her assets as man vs. God given (Carlos, feel free to correct me if I am wrong). I think we now realize it was just more likely due to the pregnancy of the actress.
This is all just to say, let the speculation continue!
Barbara
P.S. Thanks for the great recap Ferro. I too LOL about "slime trailing behind him". Also, again--Why don't you really tell us what you think about Aurora? Double LOL

Ah, Abora. You'd think being raised by a foul-mouthed, abusive lush would have taught her a few smart, self-defensive moves. She shoulda also been the target of a lot of teasing due to her "mom" (Dominga)and thus also picked up some self-defensive street smarts that way, too. AB seemed truly moved to learned that she had supposedly died, yet he left her with Dominga. She's really hit: homicidal mom, piss-poor upbringing had no redeeming qualities in the end. She is Santi's Acacia.

"Crazy Lady With Gun, Lovesick Moron Who Isn't Good At This Stuff, and Pregnant Lady Who's Being Blackmailed."

Julie - I just read this! I spit iced tea out of my mouth! LOL!

No, no, no. My assessment of Erika's bubis was one of awe. Some of nature's finest in full blossom. I'm not sure of which euphemism I might have used but the message was ...Erica is for real in a very pleasant way. Just for the record, as both a man and a physician I much prefer original equipment for everyone and epecially mammiferous protusions. I've seen so many unfortunate results from even the best of plastic surgeons. The body rebels anytime something foreign is introduced into it. I have seen some spectacular results but for each of those are two others that had unfortunate results. Not to mention a few with disasterous outcomes. I have with only one exception tried to dissuade women seeking breast augmentation . As a man I prefer even small but natural bubis to over inflated balloons. Now excuse me while I duck to avoid the incoming. Carlosj

Ferro great recap and thanks for giving the go ahead on discussing the breasts. Love it! I think DD's are genuine maybe just pushed up a bit but in any case they are eye candy for me. Error's breast are a nice size but inflated from being pregnant. I don't remember her having big boobies in Passion. DD is definitely the sexiest one in the novela.

"I like to at least imagine that DD's DDs are genuine, please don't take that away from me."

C--I will do a tribute to this in tonight's recap...as soon as the ep airs...1 1/2 hours and counting....

Roger, bienvenides to our study group. Carlos

Melissa, I'm sorry about your iced tea, but you should know better than to drink something while reading any part of this blog. You never know who's going to crack you up or when.

Just be glad it didn't come out your nose. That hurts.

Thank you Chris, for the recap. I am so late to the party today but a couple of things strike me..."That girl needs to see the wizard for a brain. She is trusting the 2 people that Santiago trusts the least".

I have to say that I think Variopinta really nailed the Aurora character with that comment.
And Carlos, if Dam is shot in the thigh, couldn't he bleed out pretty fast if his femoral artery was hit? How could Barbara count on Damien getting help in time? It wouldn't serve her purposes—or the Nanda/Ed drama—to have Damien die.
And regarding Aurora, even though she is dumb as a post, I still hate to see her harmed. Call me soft but...
