MEPS, Thursday, July 2, 2009, The First of Eduardo's Thousand and One Nights and The Letter, Cap. 98

No recap of the recap. Seeing last night’s chapter once was enough. And as far as tonight’s episode is concerned, I hope we don’t have to suffer through another ghost whimperer scene. Thanks to the person who coined that phrase.

Gardenia, in a fury pulls “the box” out of the black bag.

The music plays on and the brothers Elizalde work their magic and charm on the crowd, especially Ms. Lovely. Steve charms Ani and Pris, especially her green eyes – or as Steve says, her eyes are the color of the sea and advises Ani to compliment her every day. Smirk, smirk.

Gardenia throws the letters on Ed’s bed to scare Erika?

Erika and Ed continue dancing. Erika wants Franco to get rid of Gardenia?? And then says kiss me, kiss me, and thankfully, the lights go out. Fer looks at Ed, Barb looks at Fer, everybody looks at everybody. Ed announces a special dance – men and women next to each other. Guess what? Ed and Fer end up together. I think I hear David Bisbal singing in the background, but it’s just my imagination. This couple is hot. Feel the flames and the fire. He pulls her closer and it looks like her hair keeps falling down a little bit. Damian looks at them and like the animal he is, smells trouble. They do not exchange words, just looks and mental telepathic carnal thoughts.

Camilo, who doesn’t look as orange as usual has walked Lovely out to the patio to exchange niceties. His lips don’t look as pink. He must have left the Tangee at home. For you younguns, Tangee was a lipstick we used to use in the cave era. It changed colors depending upon the wearer. Lovely knows how to handle him. What a line – he sees her as the mother of his children. The bar girl in Lovely comes out and she laughs in his face.

Fer and FrEd now speak. She wants to know about the “woman” and he says their kisses meant nothing. She says she arrived at the same conclusion. He says he was stupid because she never hid the fact that she was married.

Once again, Aurora is washing what is supposed to be blood off the walls and is making a fine mess of it. This would be the perfect time to call Santiago. Where is that hippie wannabe when you need him?

Erika bubbles over at Damian. Dam is interested in her wedding – like when. She tells him that it is going to be a long formal affair. It will make Damian so very happy to see them married.

Fer asks FrEd if maybe he might have advised her beforehand. He says kissing her was a mistake. He said he took liberties with her. Fer says, know what – what happened between you and me – my marriage really doesn’t exist. But FrEd says – it might be reconciled.

Camilo continues trying to work the working girl. She tells him Steve is a little jealous. Camilo wants more time to get to know her. He keeps telling her that she is very special. He invites Lovely to horseback ride. Steve salutes her from the background.

Fer worries about her family – FrEd says why. The brief encounter they had will not affect business. It was just a brief fling between two adults – just a few kisses. She says you got that right, Franco. Erika continues her brainless chatter. Ed looks angry.

Cam tells Lovely he’s serious. He has the feeling he’s seen her before – maybe in his dreams. She has a moment of caution. But, we know Camilo is too stupid to think too deeply about anything. She says, give me your number and I’ll call you. He wants her number. She says, No. She’s got her lines down. Steve comes upon them and wants to know what’s happening. He’ll wait for her inside.

The dance floor is getting crowded. Damian escorts Fer to a table and kisses her. Why doesn’t she just slap him. Barb and Gonzo get ready to leave and say goodbye to Erika and Ed. She brings up the engagement and says she knows more about weddings than anybody. Good night and good riddance, Bar.

Erika wants to know why Dam and Fer are leaving so soon. Damian is beside himself with joy at seeing Erika and Franco together. Erika knows Fer is sad. Franco says he hopes Fer enjoys married life. I must say, FrEd is acting like a jerk. Fer suffers while Ed acts like an adolescent.

Erika’s mother and father are jumping with joy over Erika’s engagement. Ani and Pris also say good night. As they are leaving, Damian stops them. Fer says they are husband and wife, not just business associates. Dam whispers in Pris’s ear that he sends his regards to Vladi.

Lovely says she has good manners and will not give Cam her number because she’s a high fallutin root ‘n tootin well educated woman even though she really wants to see him. That makes him happy.

Back at the Elizalde hacienda, Gonzo remarks that Franco is the partner they’ve been waiting for. He’s their guarantor. She says, yes, while he’s on our side. Shrewd Bar knows that in business things change. And, poor Bar is worried about our little Lily. Gonzo is ready to put up whatever it takes to get Lili back. She’s got him all worried, maybe he’ll have a coronary. Maybe she’s found another way to get money out of him.

Erika’s mom and dad are leaving. They are overjoyed at her extraordinary luck.

Dam stops the car and Fer asks why. He wants to thank her for tonight, for going to the party together. He’s anxious to seal this deal, and he thinks that making love to her is like sending a thank you card. She still isn’t ready. His return was too sudden. He sort of understands but is desperate. He notes that she has changed. He’s really grasping at straws, but she’s not convinced. She wants to move ahead. He says she has destroyed their marriage because she doesn’t trust him. Her mind has been poisoned. He still claims innocence, and he’s going to win her over. It’s the only thing that’s important to him. Fer may end up being a 40-year old virgin.

Cam compliments Steve on the party. Steve confirms with Cam that Cam had a good time. He sees another opportunity to grab Lovely. Steve and FrEd are delighted. Cam also takes the opportunity to trash that Indian Jacinto who stole his car and has no respect for the upper class. Caray – Cam wants to say goodbye to Lovely. She’s left already.

In the foyer, Barb sees Aurora and wants to know if something is wrong. No, says Abora. Bar says she’ll prepare some milk for her and that she should go upstairs.

Steve takes a picture of the wait staff, also known as the Arabian knights, and thanks them for their good work. FrEd and Steve and Lovely review the night’s success. Steve says Lovely is the best actress. Steve says that Lili and Martina are waiting. Lovely and Steve leave. FrEd is left in the middle of the dance floor to ponder this night.

Aurora is hysterical when Barb enters her room. Something horrible happened. Bar wants all the details. Barb believes her, but somehow Abora managed to wash the nasty message off the wall, and she doesn’t want Santi to find out. The editor thinks Aurora doesn’t want Santiago to find out she’s crazy. Barb wants to find out if Abora told Rosenda everything. She wants Abora to see Rosenda again. Aurora, the imbecile, agrees. This is the lamest plot line.

Ed goes into his bedroom and sees the letters on the bed. He picks them up and begins to look them over. He opens one, reads it, and hears the childish voice of Fernanda saying how bad she felt when she couldn’t catch up with his bus. Flashback to the day he left and Fernanda ran after the bus while he looked on helplessly.

At the Elizalde’s, Fer is reading in bed and gets mad. This cannot be. It is not possible that Franco is engaged to Erika. Why didn’t he give her a chance to explain. Everything is lost through misunderstanding.

Damian sighs. He knows he’s lost too much ground with Fernanda, but, he won’t sleep in a cold bed. Hopefully, he says “Pequena” when he hears his bedroom door opening. It’s the wicked witch dressed in red with black undies who does a little strip for him. He tells her to get lost. He’s afraid of her and doesn’t have to follow her orders. She’s determined, and we know how weak he is. She’s going to show him how much he’s missed her.

Avances: Fer continues chastising herself and Barb continues to help herself.

Someone, please post this to the sidebar for me. Thanks.

Yikes ! That dance was muy hot...hotter than most love scenes. I feared that Fer and Fr'ed were going to spontaneously combust right there on the Elevated Dance Floor of Danger. I feared that I was going to spontaneously combust on my safe sofa. TBLMOE positively pulsates . That sexy/angry face. Caray Caray. Compare please to Cam's pathetic, smarmy moves on Lovely Venus. Blecchh. I can't believe that Dam didn't punch Fr'ed out , and Error seemed completely oblivious to the throbbing, pulsating pair foxtrotting right next to her. I loved Dam's line to Fer , ''making love to you would be like sending a thank you card.'' Que the hell ? This guy is a legend is his own mind. Finally, please Mr. Postman look and see if there's a letter in your bag for me . I had a feeling DDenia was going to give either Fr'ed or Error the letters to cancel that engagement muy quick. Now, back to FC...hot hot hot. He always plays angry/sexy very well. [Cross reference Alborada and Amor Real]

I posted it for you, Pasofino. Great, great snark and a great way to begin a 3-day holiday weekend.

Man, what a collection of miserable love the one you're with -or without- moments!!! There were so many great observations and intutitively snarky turns of phrase in this recap, amiga:

"Where's that hippie wanna-be when you need him?"
"Fer may end up being a 40 yr. old virgen"
"to work the working girl"
Overall it was a great way to start my morning. Tks!
========
BTW, I happened to run across a discussion of what the translation of "trophy wife" might be and a poster from Argentina mentioned that down there they call them a "Barbie" (yep, it is an intentional reference to the doll). I definitely wish I'd realized that near the start of this thing when Dr. Oh! continually referred to Babs that way in his conversations with her. Talk about your double entendre's.

Thank you for the recap, Pasofino, as well as the nice snarky comments. :-D

Yes, that was a hot dance with mental telepathic communication running wild. I sensed and saw it, too! Great acting on FC and SN's part, if you ask me.

Susanlynn, ITA with you... hotter than a horizontal scene any day. I feared that Damian (or Barb) would intercept one of the messages and go ballistic right there on the dance floor.

I missed the last 10 minutes of this episode. Which set of letters did Ed read? His own, or the ones Gardenia pulled out of her closet?

Did you know that one can still buy Tangee lipstick?
http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/browse/Home/Apothecary/Cosmetics/Tangee-Lipstick/D/30100/P/1:100:1000:10020/I/f05899?endecaid=APCOXXSHBN01

How could Camilo not have seen Venus before? Isn’t she a ‘local’, after all, from working at the Big Cups? He could have seen her anywhere in town...

Doris~~DDenia put Fer's love letters on Fr'ed's bed in a snit after he announced his engagement to Error. I'm sure Cam has seen Venus around town or has even been at one or many of her mud matches , but being as selfabsorbed as he is , he'll never realize that Lovely and Venus the Mudwrestling Wonder are one and the same now that Esteve has transformed her into an elegant dona.

Susanlynn: I've got to say that my t.v. screen nearly melted when Fer and Fr/Ed locked looks while dancing. I had to get up and get a drink full to the top with ice at the break just to cool myself off. The "Welcome Home!" bed scene with Babs and Scumian pale by comparison.
-------------
Ok. I missed the DDenia and the DA references somewhere along the race to catch up on things. Will y'all clarify those new nicks? Thanks!

Hi, Jardinera and Doris~~~I guess that we are the early risers !!! Hope that you both have a great holiday weekend.

Susanlynn: Loved your Elevated Dance Floor of Danger.

Jardinera: Thanks for posting for me.

Doris: I think the letters Gardenia pulled out were the ones she confiscated from Soledad's personal effects. Ed read only one letter that was from Fernanda. So, we don't know if she threw his letters on the bed, too.

Also,it is possible that dimwit Camilo might remember Venus, but Steve sure has done a great job of transforming her.

Jardenia~~~After the conversations about Gardenia's ''assests'' [are they real or faux], she was dubbed DDenia [as in double D]. I'm not sure who DA is. Also, I was too transfixed to get a cold beverage. Too bad I did not tape last night's delicious dance of desire.

Pasofino~~~I always love your recaps...so clever. I thought that DDenia gave Fr'ed his letters to Fer earlier but hid the letters Fer wrote to him. Hope that you have a nice holiday weekend, Pasofina. Can't wait to see what Fr'ed does now that he knows Fer didn't forget him . He will read every one of those letters and weep for those lost years. If only ....[as my mother liked to say]. My mother-in-law passed away on Tuesday , and my daughters and I went through her many old photos to make a photo tribute to her for the memorial service. I found photos of hub and I taken from when we started dating at the age of 17....my bridal shower...our wedding...our daughters at various ages. What a trip down memory lane. Old letters and photos really transport you back in time. Can't wait to see the effect that that those posts from the past have on Fr'ed.

Pasofino, great recap, you are really sharp today.

I think one of sub-recappers coined "DA" for Don Artemio.

rsk

Thanks for the recap. As blog mom I would like to remind recappers, please let's not be quite so imaginative with the nicknames and then the abbreviations of the nicknames. It's hard enough to keep track of everybody as it is. If you're going to use your own names for people, reference them at least once in your recap by their correct names. Thanks.

Thanks, Paso, fine and snarky recap.

The dance scene- caliente, between a simmer and a full boil. I kept telling those two- get outta there, ditch the party, and have the conversation that wouldacouldashoulda been had a long time ago! That might just happen, now that Eddy has the long lost letters that are going to tear him apart from the insides. (They are the letters from Fer, he already had the ones that he wrote to her, right?).

Denia- disappointing, what was she to do? She made the mistake of reading and witholding the letters a long time ago. Not sure what she has in mind, maybe her hope is to break Ed/Err up so that Fer has a chance to take her rightful place with Eddy. No doubt she would rather have Eddy and Fer together, as opposed to the mindless twit Err.

Errika, what a mindless twit.

Cadmil-ho is sure a slimy seductor- "mother of my children" said seriously on their first meeting- gawd, I wanted to puke! I sure hope that LovelyVenus isn't falling for his b.s., she's heard it all before, no doubt.

Abora, get some better cleaning supplies.

Carlos, I read that short story by Bolanos in Playboy. It was poorly translated, I thought, as if done by a computer, but when I read it, I thought -I gotta track this down and read it in Spanish. BTW, I do look at the pictures.

Thanks, Pasofino, for the great recap. I hadn't realized how much of the dialogue I missed until I read your account of what people actually said. Sigh. I keep hoping that watching these telenovelas will improve my miserable Spanish, but...

I love your comments. One of my favorites this time was "Where's that hippie wanna-be when you need him?"

The scenes with Aburrida--oops, Aurora--are driving me as nuts as she is. Well, almost. I keep trying to figure out her relationship to Artemio Bravo. He seemed so upset at news of her "death" that I began to think he is her father, but if he were, why would he leave her with someone like Dominga?

Nice try dorado dave on trying to give Gardenia some high-falutin' motives for dumping the letters, but I thought she said, since she couldn't have Fr/Ed she would embitter the lives of him and his new fiancee...

Juanita - that is my question, too. Artemio seemed so upset again, earlier this week, over the belief of Aurora being dead. Perhaps Dominga wasn't such a nasty drunk, when Aurora went to live with Dominga as an infant. Dominga may have looked better at that time, too. Her alcoholism either developed or progressed over the years along with her slovenly appearance.

Is it possible Dominga is Barby's mom?

''Hell has no fury like Gardenia scorned.'' I think that she deposited those love missiles on Fr'ed's bed to end that engagement and wipe that goofy grin off Erika's face. I think that she realizes that she can't fight Fer, but she knows that she can blast the insipid Erika out of Fr'ed's life. What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Fr'ed has not been very gallant or smart , and now he has created a big mess for everyone. Everybody wants you, Fr'ed, and in your determined quest for your elusive Fer , you've devastated two mujers who are in loooove with you. Sucks to be you. We are going to see Fr'ed's delicious pouty face a lot , I think. His burning, churning love for Fer will go into full throttle now.

Woops, I forgot - Barby killed her parents. But we had some hint that it was a justified killing and Artemio was involved.

Thanks, Melinama, I didn't catch the "embitter" part of her thought bubble. Can you deny that Denia would rather have Eddy with Fer than Err? At least Fer is a worthy adversary, someone there is no shame in losing to. Err is what?

I am sure that Fr'ed has left smitten, sweet, young things all over North America. Denia and Erika are the latest in a long list of delusional mujers.

I am getting worried about not seeing Lili, hopefully she has not gone missing.

The scene with Martina and the TV was funny. It was the first TV I have seen a novella. I am sure that they are a novelty in parts of Mexico which would explain Martina's attraction to the ad.

rsk

Susanlynn: I'm very sorry for your and your husband's loss and the girls' loss of their grandmother. Going through the photos for the memorial not only was a nice gesture, but it was probably good for the soul too.

Thanks, guys for the heads up on Don Artemio and DDenia.

I was thinking that Gardenia was out to make Eduardo miserable by leaving the letters from Fer, so she could stir up the pot for twit-wit Errorika. Serves Eddie right for the callous way he treated Fernanda. I hope his night is filled with oh-noes!

One thing I learned form this episode...don't invite any of the Elizades to your parties, weren't they a dull bunch sitting around a table all night, except for creepy Camillo.

Pasofino, thanks for the recap. Is was especially needed when the party music interferes with understanding the dialog. You referenced FrEd's face. I thought he had a very unattractive smirk on his cara most of the night. It was that smirk you see when you are the mother of a teenager. Maybe it is just very poor direction or something. Or perhaps he is trying to act "younger". I must say that there was GREAT chemistry while he and Fer were dancing.

Girls, thanks for the TN tips, I have both Alborado and Pasion on my to buy list. I have seem Amor Real and loved it.

Sandy in TN

Yikes. The tension during that brief dance felt like ten hours.

Wow, Gardenia. Doing the right thing out of spite. Oh well, better late than never.

I thought she put ALL the letters on his bed - his and Fer's. He came home to two piles. He thumbed through the first pile, seemed to recognize it, and then went to the second pile which included more colorful envelopes.

Loved to see Venus laugh at Camilo. I was worried that she'd find him charming compared to the guys at the Big Cups, but fortunately she knows a line of BS when she hears it.

I noticed that Esteve corrected her pronunciation of "vermouth," but I missed how she pronounced it. "Ver-mout"? "Ver-moat"?

Amazing that Aurora didn't get any of the red paint on her white nightgown. Did it occur to her to run the shower rather than fling a cup full of red painty water at it??

If Aurora doesn't want Santi to think she's crazy, all she has to do is show him some of this artwork. Take a picture if she's worried that it will be removed. Or she could scream blue murder and wait for witnesses to arrive.

There was some conversation the other day about FrEd's casual attire at the party. I just remembered an old Emily Post book I used to have - she recommended that the host(ess) of a party dress slightly less formally than the guests. I don't remember the rationale, but maybe it has something to do with wanting the host to look "at home" there.

I do not feel the least bit sorry for Fernanda. If only she had returned Fr'ed phone call and explained the situation instead of just showing up with Damian. Surely she knew that she could not have a serious conversation with him during the party.

I agree with Julie that both sets of letters were on the bed.

I love Venus' laugh!

rsk

I agree fsk, Fer should have called. FrEd has been good to her sister, the company and to her. He deserved a call.

It has to be the sulky maid who is writing for the espiritu. She always writes on a place that is easy to clean, like the mirror or shower. She doesn't want to be stuck with a messy cleanup!!

Sandy in TN

And the maid must be coming in through the window, because there's no other way she can sneak in and out without being noticed.

A fine house like that, don't they have locks on the windows? Or is Aurora dumbly leaving the window open so that any thief, pervert, or ghost can come in?

If she had even an ounce of inquisitiveness, she'd check out the ground outside her window during the day for clues. There might be footprints, marks from a stepstool, crow feathers, shreds of black fabric, etc. That's not CSI-level stuff, just basic curiosity that you'd expect someone to have!

Someone mentioned that the letters were only the ones from Fer. I believe these are both letter from Fer and Ed. Ed's mom hid letters from both sources from each other.

No one has mentioned how downright mean Ed was to Fernanda. The tone of his voice and his abrupt and cold rejection of her right to her face - was very mean and angry. In the words of Steve, Ed took over from Franco - and he forgot to be Franco.

I could not believe how Damian chased Fer to the bathroom and then waited right outside the door for her to reappear - weird behavior, to say the least.

I still think all of the plot lines involving Camilo are simply for the writers to add more capitulos because the network needs MEPS to be extended so they can sell more ads. The storyline of Camilo and Lovely is a distraction and seems to have nothing to do with the original plot - and probably won't accomplish anything.

I saw the dance scene as an exotic play of eyes and emotions. FrEd's and Fer's heads kept turning to seek and avoid, to question and deny. It reminded me of birds--or sort of a tango. This eye dance of searching and avoidance reiterated the intensity and confusion of their passion and pain. So many emotions were firing between their faces. This poetic eye dance of love was contrasted beautifully by the jealous looks of Damian and oblivious glances of Error. True acting is when so much is said without words.

Julie: You'd think Aurora would lock the window and doors, but this is telenovelaland and the only door that I remember being locked is the bedroom door at Vlad's place when it was occupied by Pris.

As to the letters, how did Gardenia know where Ed has stashed his half?

If Gardenia was a guest at the party, why weren't Jacinto and Margarita invited. After all, Jacinto is an old and dear friend of FrEds, works for him and has put his marriage in trouble to do FrEd's bidding. Hmmmm....

MEPS in AZ

Pasofino, Soledad had both sets of letters. Margarita packed up both sets, in duly marked shoes boxes, and moved them out of Soledad's house after she died. When Fr'ed returned Margarita sent all of Soledad's things to him and Gardenia intercepted both sets of letters. Last night, during her hissy fit, she left both sets on Fr'ed bed.

rsk

rsk: Thanks.

These words keep running through my mind : ''Deliver Deletter Desooner de better.'' Will Fr'ed dash right over to Fer , or will he silently pine aqnd pout as he envisions her in Dam's damn embrace ??? I think he'll be pining and pouting and imagining Fer and Dam doing the Bunny Hop for a while. I can't believe that Fer let Dam paw her continually at the BIG PARTY . Whatever happened to that famous telenovela plea : ''Don't touch me !!!!''

rsk: Thanks for clearing that up cuz for some reason I thought Ed might have gotten his stash earlier and that what Gardenia hid in the black duffel bag in her closet was only Fernanda's. Would make more sense to have both sets dumped there.

I think the confusion about the letters comes from the time Fr'ed received his mother's things, except the Fr'ed/Nanda letters (which we know DDenia intercepted. He went through everything he received which included old letters to Soledad from him, pictures, etc. and after reading them burned them in the fireplace. This happened when he changed from Eduardo to Franco and was destroying everything from his past to protect his new identity.

rsk

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Eddy have at least some of his undelivered letters to Fer? If not, I don't know where I got that idea. Damian did not chase Fer to the powder room. She had been gone a long time, and he was checking to see if all was OK. Now, hanging out there is a different matter. I think that Damian is truly sorry for all that's happened. He was sucked in/forced in to a bad situation by Babs, and wishes it were different. He is not all bad, but has a bad side, and I think that he is trying to make it work with Fer for no other reason other than to make it work, no hidden agenda.

Fer definitely should have called Franco, to give hima heads up that she will be attending the soire' with hubby, that she doesn't know what's going on, there is lot of sorting out to be done. Of course, she is very confused right now, but just showing up like that was very poor judgement.

I think that Jacinto was not on the guest list is mainly because part of the intention was to get Cad set up with Venus, and Jacinto's presence would have made that impossible. The insults that he throws at Jacinto, the condescending (undeserved!!) contempt that he has for Jacinto is just weird. Is it that he senses that Jacinto is better than himself in so many ways? and that his perceicved superiority is only by means of his "birthright? I am so eager to see Cad's comeuppance, he truly has it coming. I wonder why the writers show this claas distinction. That only a few wealthy have that attitude,(Babs, Cad), and that most (Fer, Santi, even Gonzo) are not. There often seems to be a struggle between the classes in TNs, it must be a greater theme in the culture than we realize.

Thnks, rsk, clears up the confusion that I had about the letters...

DD, you are head on about Cad and the reason Jacinto was not at the Fiesta.

rsk

I think Errika was not thinking straight when giving Eduardo the letters. Shouldn't she have realized that now he would know that Fer never forgot him and that this would make him drop Errika and go to fer, but not to Denia????? It is a no brainer and putting them on his bed, would not guarantee that Errika would see them anyway, since they don't share the same bedroom? Ret

Pasofino, Thanks for the fine recap. I can't believe three of us got the party scene but it is the most delicious extended episode for quite a while but you got the bonus round with the sizzling dangerous dance!

When Barbi was confronting Aurora at the bottom of the stairs, she said I am making warm milk for my husband, I will come to talk with you in your room after I take it to him. This was another dose of the knockout drops in the milky for Gonzo dearest. Thus clearing the way for her to create some sizzle and pop with Damian. It escapes me how she knew he would be there and would not have been successful in getting Fernanda to join him in his guest room. She must know her step-daughter too well and that seemed reflected in her knowing glances as she watched the dangerous dance at the party and could feel totally that Fernanda was really in love with Franco not Damian. Guess she knew Damian would be as unrequited and unsatisfied as she is.

I also loved when Barbi reminds Gonzo that the tragedy of Lili's disappearance is upsetting. He kind of winced with a, oh yeah I have a daughter and oh yeah, she is missing. He plays stupid sooooo well.

Pasofino, what a great and funny recap of a not so funny but key episode. So at last DDenia does the right thing with the letters albeit perhaps not for the most noble of reasons. I expect we might get to hear a lot more out of these letters tonight. Eddie really should arrange a meeting with Nanda and catch up on old times with the letters. Of course that would be the smart thing to do (even if awkward) so naturally that won't happen.

Beth, when Eddie and Nanda started to dance I immediately thought tango. The faces and body language were perfect. How much was said with neither uttering a word for the longest time. Wow!

DD may be down, but if I know my plucky girl, she certainly isn't out. She is probably already
hatching another bold (if misguided) plot.

Now that DDenia has let go of the letters, I'm curious to see how long it takes Eddie to share them with Nanda.

Carlos

Dave: Wasn't Damian coached by his mother to go get Fernanda back? He appears to think that Fernanda will be his salvation, but I don't think he's a good guy at heart. Look at how he's torturing Priscilla and Vlad.

If Dam truly wanted to make his marriage work and he really loved Fer, he wouldn't have let Midnight Barbie in his bed his first night back in the hacienda.

Thanks Pasofino, I thoroughly enjoyed your recap. I loved the dynamics of the big bash. Even though I like Damian I could have slapped him when he kept pawing Nanda.
Sure Nanda could have called Eddie before showing up with Damian, but would that really have prevented anything as far as Eddie's reaction? Probably not.
I like the reminder about the excessive use of nicknames. I usually find them amusing when they first appear but they get old and distracting after awhile. This is not meant to be a criticism because everyone put their hearts and time into providing this amazing entertaining for us. In fact I still don't know why women on this blog refer to their husbands as DH (dear husband)? or why best friend is BBF (best beloved friend)? Yes, with all the fun of the beanie hats and the TBLMOE I sometimes think I'm reading the morris code :-) OK, so that's not funny, well at least I tried.
A couple days ago Santiago told Aurora that the "oldest" picture he had of himself was when he was 6months old. At least one commenter interpreted that to mean that all other pictures of him was taken from birth right up until he reached six months.
My interpretation was that he was referring to the year that the picture was taken. For example it that picture was taken in 1985 and he has another picture of himself takin in 2000, then the picture taken in 1985 would be the oldest.
I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm making any sense :-)

Gardenia is trouble with a big capital TNT. Haven't we all come across a person so delusional about themselves or someone else. they make you want to reach out and shake some sense into them, or maybe slap them too. Well that's Gardenia and i'm sorry i was not feeling her heartbreak when Franco announced his engagement to Errika. Franco/Ed has already told her in a nice and gentle way he doesn't feel the same way about her and never will. He will always think of her as a sister, as for rhose who are saying now Franco/ed has change because of money. He now thinks he is better than or too good for Gardenia. No it's just that he wants his heart's desire which is Fernanda. You can't change the heart and Franco/Ed has always wanted Fernanda. Gardenia knew this when they were all young. So Gardenia get a grip and move on.

I'm not sure what Dam's motives are. As long as I have been watching this TN he has been sleeping with Babs, even when Fer loved him. He doesn't seem as into Gl as Anibal is, he is just a "floater" in life I guess.

Thanks for the great and snarky recap, Pasofino!

Ye Gods, Tangee! What a flashback to being a teenager. Loved "Arabian Knights".

One bit of foreshadowing I noticed was in the saying goodnight part of the party. Anibal snarled at Damián that there were no job vacancies at GrupoLactos. And then got in a dig about part of a husband's role being supporting his wife. Damn just smirked and said something like you never can tell what will happen and then at that precise moment leaned over to whisper that Vladi sent his regards into Priscilla's ear. Methinks I see a blackmail brewing.

And, yes, TBLMOE exhibited some cruel and childish behavior last night. I could have slapped him for all the things he said to Fer, especially since he certainly could see how hurtful his words were.

Thanks for the recap Pasofino. I had to watch the episode twice. The dance was so hot!

Julie, we must think alike because I was shouting at the TV "turn on the shower you moron!"

I was afraid Lovely was going to need a shovel to dig herself out of the pile of BS Cadmil-ho was spouting. Ladies, haven't we all run into a Cadmil-ho a time or two? Legends in their own minds, indeed. Then when you look back on it you think "what was I thinking? I don't give out my number either that's for sure. I might give them an email address though. How high tech of me.

Susanlynn - copy & paste for the 'delicious dance of desire' around 1/3 of the way into this clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHkwehZ-tgI&feature=related

melinama - you've been watching entirely too many telenovelas. Great theory that Dominga is Barbara's mother! Artemio could have blackmailed Barb into thinking she killed her mom, etc. etc. etc. yet Dominga never treated Aurora like a granddaughter. Unless....she never knew.

Sandy in TN:
I just want to be sure you realize that the telenovelas sold on Amazon and elsewhere are almost always greatly abridged. Whereas the original telenovela may have run for, say, 120 hours, the DVD versions tend to have 12-14 hours, and sometimes even less. IMHO, this is often an advantage--it cuts out all the commercials and lots of silly subplots. However, if you read the comments on Amazon.com and elsewhere, lots of people are apparently surprised and upset that they're not getting the entire telenovela sin cortes for $20 or so! I own the abridged version of Alborada, and on the cover it says "más de 14 horas." It's one of the longer ones.

Also, though the DVDs usually come with optional English subtitles (but very rarely subtítulos en español), sometimes there are no subtitles. According to one of the comments on Amazon, the Pasión DVDs do not have subtitles.

Finally, if you're really eager for the unabridged versions, there is a website that claims to sell them: http://www.te-lenovelas.com/index.html. I've never used this site and know little about it, but it does offer a large number of unabridged telenovelas for sale. As one might expect, the prices are much higher than for the abridged versions.

Leftover from yesterday: Thanks, Carlos, for the recommendation on Gancho. I have seen the promos, but am pretty much at my TN limit. I am also watching one seriously on Telemundo and watching another on Telemundo just until they get the back story done and show the respective babies as grown ups. These are: Mas Sabe El Diablo, which I am liking a lot, especially the protagonists: Gencarlos Canela (very young, but gives TBLMOE a run for his money) and Gabriela Espino and Victorinos, apparently a remake of a Colombian telenovela which was in turn taken from a novel Cuando Quiero Llorar, no lloro. Three babies are born at the exact same moment and a fortune teller says if they ever meet, one of them will die.

Sorry for the off topic post!

I think that we probably all agree that there are likely discrepancies in the family ties that we have been presented with. It may be time to update our theories. Some time back I presented possible revisions to the Ezalde family tree which were met here with decidedly mixed reactions and perhaps even some good natured derision. Maybe I'll address this matter again soon with appropriate changes if needed. I've no doubt when all is said and done there will be surprises for all of us. Carlos

Pasofino, love your recaps. They are fun and snarky.

Cheryl, I think you missed the episode where Barb learned through a phone call from the caretaker that Fer had been at the summer home as she had left her wrap there. She checked out to see if Fer and Franco might be there and thanks to the telenovela gods she caught then in a long long (though not for us viewers passionate enough) kiss. That is why she had that cheshire cat grin all night at the fiesta knowing what was going on with Franco and Fer. She also hauled Damian back so she could stop the love affair and the possibiity of Franco ruining her plans for the destruction for Lactos. And just because she had time and inclination, Babs kicked the caretaker down a ravine where he remains.

Love how Fer and Fr/Ed couldn't resist and had to passionately gaze into each other eyes during that tension filled dance. Oh, how I would have loved to have been at the party. I think anyone in the crowd could see Fred just wasn't into Errika.

I think Damian sees Fer as a meal ticket and wants to go on that luna miel to ensure it. He's pretty much a scumbag.

Re: the letters. As I recall Fr/Ed sent DDenia to pick up Soledad's personal belongings and bring them back to Las Animas. Margarita had packed them in a large box but since DDenia has no self control she rummaged through it all and decided to steal both sets of letters that Soledad had intercepted. DDenia in her usual delusional jealousy meant to keep Fer and Eddie apart. And it was working. GinCA

Connie, I was also thinking, don't just run the shower, but maybe ask the maid for some Simple Green or whatever.

Then I thought, better yet, ask the maid to clean the shower. (Especially since she's the one who messed it up.)

And THEN I thought, hey, if the words magically disappear the minute you try to find a witness anyway, then by all means look for a witness. Then NOBODY has to clean it up. Just make sure you leave a window open. ;)

Can someone tell me what TBLMOE means...???

Thanks.

Ann-NYC

Julie~~~I like the way your mind works. You are a girl after my own heart. I, too, am always on the lookout for a way to avoid cleaning. So far, I have managed to transfer the vacuuming to hub by telling him that the new Sears vacuum he just bought is too heavy for me to manuver. I am , however, still in charge of shower cleaning, laundry, and dishes, etc. Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with any ghostly messages on the mirrors or shower walls...just the usual soap scum , but if any phantoms are reading this post, feel free to leave messaages in my bathrooms if you are willing to clean up after yourselves. I would appreciate the help.

TBLMOE~~~The bestlooking man on earth

Susanlynn, thanks...!!!

Ann-NYC

You're welcome , Ann ~~~Do you agree ?

Dios mio Aurora, let the maid clean up that mess.

Fr/Ed was very cruel to Fer, but I think he acted like the typical male. At one point I thought a bucket of cold water would be necessary. Damian & Erika should have felt the heat. These 2 have wonderful & realistic facial expression.

Venus didn't even have an Eliza slip. I think Fr/Ed & Venus are both mocking Camilo's cackle, but El Hiena doesn't get it.

I really can't blame Damian too much, how many men could resist Lucero?

I tried to check out Silvia Navarro on Azteca, but they have wiped her clean off the site. That is a big loss to them.

What will be Gardenia's explanation for the letters? Oh, I just found these in my closet in my bag, & thought you should have them.

TBLMOE... I've thought about it and I agree, although you didn't ask me!

Thanks Juanita for all the help, I plan to buy an abridged version of both of them from Amazon.

Sandy in TN

Amor Real was totally butchered. You get 2 disc's 2 sided, but the 2nd one is bloopers, filming scenes. It was not worth the money.
Alborada, I thought was good, not cut too much & I think there are 3 disc's mostly TN .

Julie and Susanlynn, here I believe we see an excellent distinction between the classes. Now if say Erica were faced with similar graffitti, would summon the maid, castigate her for allowing such a thing to occur and threaten dire consequences should such a thing reccur. I'm guessing real blood however. No self-respecting spook would resort to paint. My question is why the heck doesn't she plant herself firmly where she stands and yell BLOODY MURDER!? She definitely needs assertiveness training. I am reminded of a King of the Hill episode in which Bobby Hill took a self defense course from some feminists and learned to shout if he were accosted, "LET GO MY PURSE! I DON'T KNOW YOU!" It might work for Aurora. Carlos

I bought the abridged versions and the unabridged versions [which were expensive] of both Alborada and Amor Real. I like it all. The abridged versions give me the English. You're right...lots of good scenes are cut out.

Carlos~~~~HA ...''LET GO MY PURSE''---LOVE IT.

I did notice that Amazon now had Amor Real for 9.99 & the scene with Manuel (FC) in the bath tub & Antonia giving him a massage & more, was well worth it.

You what's soscary about Gardenia that there are people in the real world who think like her. No how matter how many times you tell them you will never feel the same way about them it won't penetrate that one track mindset. I'm speaking from past experiences myself. Franco get an restraining order, better yet take her to Lilli old institution and her tranquilize. Having and unreasonable stalker is not fun or amusing.

Carlos: "Let Go My Purse." Luv it.

And, as to the family tree, the possibilities are endless.

Just a thought ... What are the chances of Eddie not tracing the letters to Gardenia? Knowing that the hiena is sent him away, could lead him to think that she had the letters all of these years. For some reason I don't think that Gardenia will lose her cover just yet!! If he does know it's Gardenia he'll probably feel obliged to turn over half of his estate to her in order to keep her quiet. She knows this will get a rise out of him and 9 times out of 10 it will be to her benefit.

$9.99 for Amor is a good price. I think I paid $19.99 for it. I think Hub got it online from Target. I think I saw Alborada at Suncoast Video at the mall, but I can't remember the price. My copy has some glitches in it , so I have to replace it. I'll check Amazon.

Hi, 5:02. Sorry to say I've had some experience with that myself. Fortunately it didn't go as far as having to get a restraining order, but I did have to get HR involved. It's always scary when an escalating series of "I'm not interested" has zero effect. (Except that it sometimes seems to be a sign of True Love in some telenovelas.) Maybe that's one reason why Gardenia pushes my buttons. I hadn't thought of that.

Damian and Barbara - apparently, sexual harassment can happen even among criminals. He can't resist her, especially after Nanda sends him away with nothing, but I'm convinced that every one of these incidents just makes his desire for revenge that much hotter. I wonder if she'll kill him. He's still one of the few "bad guys" in telenovela history that I don't want to see killed.

Carlos - any King of the Hill reference will crack me up. Poor Bobby. Yes, there are many effective ways to scream for help. Aurora only needs to learn one. Maybe a really nervous-sounding "Tile cleaner! I need tile cleaner!"

Regarding Gardenia and the letters, I'm with Sue - I don't think it's guaranteed that FrEd will guess that it's Gardenia. But if she's angry enough, she might come forward on her own.

Susanlynn, Sue, as Gardenia's co- counsel I've thought a great deal about it. I hope she runs a variation on Sue's recommendation such as, "Letters? Letters? I don't know nuthin' 'bout no stinkin' letters." Carlos

Eduardo already got his box of letters in an earlier episode, those letters dumped on his bed are all the letters Fer said she wrote to him and Gardenia kept hidden in the closet.
For reference go back to episode #72 on youtube for those scenes with his letters.

Thanks for the recap Pasofino. Great title too.

I loved how Fr/Ed looked like he had been accosted after Erika kissed him. It's so sad she is so clueless. If "your" man does not look happy when you kiss him early in the relationship, do the right thing. Realize he's not into you and stop being an idiot. And yes he needs to stop being a jerk to Fer.

Or, more honestly even, "Yeah, I did it. I was wrong. Now you want me to run your letters over to Nanda?" Machiavelli would approve I bet. Carlos

I've been cleaning all day. Yuck! Julie, I like the way you think. Just leave and the words magically disappear.

Alborada is 4 DVDs front and back. It really is good. I haven't seen Pasion yet but maybe I should get that one before Amor Real, especially if Amor is really chopped up. Melinama has recaps so if you miss something you can go there and get caught up on what was cut out.

Susanlynn, I sure as hell do...!!!

Ann-NYC

Aztec tv is that another channel with televisa/univison franchise? Is it an seperate channel like Telemundo. Does anyone know if the Televisa lawsuit against Univision been resolved yet.

OK then if Eddie already has the letters he wrote to Nanda, then in heaven's name, howis that so different from DDenia sitting on Nanda's letters? Yeah he wrote them, but he mailed them with the intention of her receiving them. Yes, Gardenia read them. Shame on her. As far as stalking, if in TNlandia stalkers were prosecuted, TN prisons would be bursting at the seams with galans and hermosas, not to mention villianos and peripheral characters. I in no way wish to minimize the effects in real life. All too often the results are tragic. That said , I cannot imagine any antisocial act on the part of Gardenia. She has an unrealistic crush on Eddie to be sure, but I fail to see a great deal of difference in Eddie's lust for a married woman, no matter how unhappily. I gladly suspend reality at the door each night and cheerfully root for my favorites. I sure wished the party wasn't over. My lovely esposa brought home a fresh bottle of Tequila. Maybe we can use it while Eddie catches up on his mail. Carlos

Carlos - Denia had both sets of letters and Fr'ed received both sets last night.

Anon 7:23pm - the judge will hear arguments sometime in July. There is no jury so this may drag on forever.

rsk

Carlos~~~Again I say, every girl should have an advocate like you. I feel bad for Gardenia because many people have been victims of unrequited love. [I'm raising my hand here...for me it was requited for a couple months and then it took an unexpected turn and turned unrequited]. However, when you finally have to face the fact that the feeling is no longer mutual [or in Gardenia's case never was mutual] , you just have to move on. I , personally, listened to lots of sad songs while writing sad entries in my diary. Then, about 6 months into my mooning , I met someone and moved on. [However, unlike Gardenia ,I never hid any letters, but I think I might have burned all the notes he sent to me in Algebra class.] Gardenia has to give up the dream and find a good guy [like you or DDave, for example] who will appreciate her many glorious assets. Why would anyone want to be with someone who wasn't totally devoted to him/her ??? I think Gardenia should come clean to Fr'ed so that they can still be friends.

Doris, loved the website for the Vermont Country Store. I think I once purchased Tangee lipstick in high school but had forgotten because it was many eons ago. Thanks. GinCA

To all who have known or know about Tangee lipstick, back in the day, it was your basic entry-level product. You might not get permission to use real lipstick, but Tangee was usually on the "approved" list.

Susanlynn, now I'm more interested in your real life story than even Nanda, Eddie, and DDenia. Would that you were there to advise me eons ago. For 7 yrs. I both suffered and reveled in my relationship with Timothy O. We we reunited at our 10th and 20th high school reunions there were no recriminations or ahas. Just it would have been fun. What was incredible was that each occasion she and I seemed to pick up right were we left off so many years before. Thanks for reminding me. Carlos

Carlos, I think the diff between Gardenia's feelings for Ed and Ed's feeling for Fernanda is that Fernanda was clearly interested, and she admitted that she had never stopped loving Ed! Quite a huge difference, IMO!

As for him sitting on his own letters (true: I just looked at #72 on Anon 6:28's advice, I did see that episode, I don't know how I forgot!) and not giving them to Nanda, I don't see how he could explain having them. Did the Jinete of Justice give them to him? He won't tell her who he is because she said she'd hate Ed if it turned out that he was still alive and "testing" her... kinda painted himself into a corner with that one.

Yes, I thought that I remembered Gardenia giving Fr'ed his letters, but the consensus here was that she didn't. Julie~~~Your explanation as to why he couldn't give them to her seems logical. Did he even wonder why his mon had them ?...why she never gave them to Fer ???

Obviously, my mind does not retain anything after 98 episodes. I, too, thought Eddie received both sets of letters on his bed after the fiesta. I am sure I've forgotten and confused many more events, GinCA

Thanks Anon 6:28 from yesterday. Carlos
