MEPS, Thursday, July 23, 2009, Frankie and Johnnie Were Almost Lovers, The Continuing Saga of the Case of Attempted Sex, Cap. 112

Steve gives Cam a whiskey and water. Steve interrogates Cam – so you propose to help Lovely. Yes, says Cam, that’s why I came to talk to you.

Franco is at Erika’s and Dolly tells Franco how close and inseparable Fer and Erika have been their entire lives. They were like sisters. When Fernanda went to Madrid to study, they had to send Erika, too. Agostin asks Franco if he has brothers. Franco tells him the story about how his parents died and that he went to the U.S. to study. He had no reason to return until now. Don Agostin gets to the heart of the matter. Erika has told him Franco has come to discuss something very important with them tonight.

Damian asks Fer why she is looking at him as if she doesn’t know him. He wants to make love and tells her that the champagne is for their wedding night. Fer looks unhappy. Damian looks like he’s getting drunk. He is not disposed to stop drinking. He asks her if she’s afraid. She says no, and he reaches for her glass and then reaches his hand out for her. She looks like a cockroach is about ready to crawl up her leg. He (ugh) begins to remove her clothing and caress and kiss her. The feeling is not mutual. Damian realizes that he is making love to a mannequin and gets the ugly look on his face.

Steve and Cam continue their Lovely conversation. Cam is really trying to be cooperative while Steve nails his hide to the wall. Steve wants to know why Cam is so sure that Lovely is OK – like do you know where she is? Meanwhile, Lovely, the bar girl, is talking to Martina. Lovely wants Martina to tell Steve she is returning for clothing. Martina tells Lovely that dog Obregon kidnapped Lili.

Damian asks Fer for just one little kiss. She begs him not to drink. He lunges at her and she pushes him away and his injured leg is injured again. He tells her she is his wife under the law for better or worse and that they’ll never separate. He mocks her and she gets to see what he’s really like. In true drama queen form, he plays to her sympathies with little tears forming in the corners of his eyes. Enough, Damian, she says. He wants her to get more comfortable. She shakes in her shoes and goes to the bathroom and sobs.

Damian yells to Fer to get pretty for him. I hope there is a window in the bathroom so that she has an alternate escape route.

Erika’s mom tells Franco that Don Agostin always knew that Erika would marry well. Agostin asks Franco about himself and Franco says he has an MBA and is an executive with Power Milk.

Martina and Venus/Lovely talk about Lili and Martina says she is mortified for not doing her job for the good don Franco. Venus/Lovely gushes over about how good Franco and Steve are. Martina wants the chisme (gossip) about Camilo. Venus says she’s worried and that she is obligated to finish the job. She’s one of Steve’s students, and the trap they set will obligate Camilo to marry her.

Steve yells at Cam. Steve wants to know Cam’s intentions regarding his niece. How dare Cam invite Lovely to a bar without his permission. Steve says that a true gentleman would be disposed to marry the woman. Camilo is in shock. Steve threatens to break the Power Milk deal unless Cam marries Lovely. Cam looks like he’s just barely survived round one of the Spanish Inquisition.

A drunken Damian is spilling champagne and he says for better or worse this is going to be our wedding night. Fer is still crying at herself in the bathroom mirror.

Franco says that he had a relationship with a woman, but she wasn’t his novia. It was platonic. Don Agostin wants to know what happened to her. Franco says she married a while ago and that she is happy. Could this be any more perfect for Erika?

Damian is banging at the bathroom door and demands that Fer open the door. She let him in. He hobbles in on crutches and notes that she hasn’t changed her clothes. He blocks her way to the door and wants to know what excuse she’s going to come up with now. I’d say pull the crutches out from under him. In the bedroom he starts to trip by himself and she helps him to the bed and picks up the crutches. He asks if she has a headache. She says she’s not going to make up any excuse and kneels in front of him. She wants to ask him a favor. She wants to know Barbara Greco’s secret bank account number. That question makes Damian stop in his tracks.

Bar reflects on the day she gave birth and that she passed out. She also reflects on her recent conversation with Artemio Bravo. She says girl, he says boy. She says something within me tells me that Aurora is my daughter.

Aurora is praying to the Virgin that she wanted to tell Mother Superior everything but she couldn’t and that she is a coward for not telling Santiago about the tragedy she lived. She thinks her silence will avoid bloodshed between two brothers.

Santiago is trying to reach Bar by phone and begs her to call him. She’s in the car crying. She tells herself that she has to hold her tears and swears that if her premonition about Aurora is true Artemio Bravo will be sorry.

Artemio is trying to talk to a catatonic Lili. He wants her to eat. She calls him “papa.”

Damian tells Fer that in order to find Barbara’s account number he would have to go to Lactos in New York, and that will take time. She says, “OK”.

Lili gets up and talks to Artemio as if he is her father. He says I’m not your father and tries to stop her from touching him. She smiles and touches him anyway and kisses him on the cheek even though he denies being her father. OK – I think he is clearly moved by her innocence.

Steve wants to know if Cam and Lovely can get married tomorrow. Cam says not enough time. Steve says not so – he has to own up to his bad behavior. Cam says he has to ask Lovely. What if she says no. Steve says she’ll agree. He is sure because he knows Lovely will do as he wishes and that Cam will do the same or the Elizaldes will not get a cent of Power Milk money and will have to return the $10 million that has already been transferred to them.

Lovely/Venus continues telling Martina about her “affair” with Cam. Martina is so glad Lovely/Venus is there. Lovely/Venus tells Martina not to worry because Lili will return soon.

Cam says he will talk to Lovely. Steve insists right now. Steve has been shamed by Cam’s behavior and states that Camilo must comply with his duty. As Cam leaves, Steve nearly falls over with laughter.

Damian says let’s play a game. He removes his jacket. Does he mean a game like strip poker? Then he removes his tie and then his shirt and tells Fernanda to follow. Like take off your clothes, girl. How romantic can you get. It is now time for her to run for the door. Thank God, Santiago knocks on the door and calls out for her.

Don Agostin welcomes Franco to the family with a toast all around. Dolly wants to know when they plan to marry. He says, let’s see. Erika will decide. Dolly hands Erika a calendar and asks Franco if the last Saturday of the month is OK. He agrees. Don Agostin says that’s a little too soon. Erika giggles and says, Daddy, we want to marry as soon as possible. Franco agrees and Don Agostin says OK because he can’t deny his little star anything. Erika wants Fer to be the madrina. No problem, he says. And, Steve for the padrino. That’s fine too. Erika starts making calls.

Fer tells Damian that she has to find out what Santiago wants. If her brother is looking for her, it must be important. Damian warns her for the last time that if she goes now, she goes forever. That must mean that he is going to quit loafing around the Elizalde hacienda and that he will go mooch off his mama.

Santiago tells Fer that Bar has her phone off and that he knows who carried Aurora away.

Damian goes through Fer’s purse. Fer’s phone rings. It is Erika, and he tells her she has called at the wrong time, and then he hangs up. Erika tells the family gathering that she must have interrupted something between Damian and Fer. Franco looks uncomfortable.

Bar calls to Gonzo and tells him she has something to show him. She shows him a copy of what she just received from Obregon. He is so happy that Lili is alive that he begins to cry. Damian calls Bar and orders her to see him asap. He is not interested in Lili. He tells her that Fer has run off with Santiago. If she doesn’t come, he’s going to do something really bad. He’s going to start screaming all sorts of things from the windows. Bar tells Gonzo that Damian is in pain. She also tells Gonzo that this nightmare is about to end. Gonzo thanks Bar. A comment about her off-white 80’s dress: There are lots of ruffles all around the neck and down the front and on the long sleeves. It would make a good shroud.

At Jacinto’s place, Margarita tells Gardenia that Franco is going to marry Erika. Gardenia goes into shock.

Franco and Erika talk outside the hacienda. Erika says Fernanda will be so happy when she finds out the news. He is going through the motions of agreeing with her.

Santiago and Fer are arguing when Bar comes in. Santiago says that Bar knows exactly where Aurora went. She gives them her innocent act. He reminds her of the message she gave him. Bar continues her lie about the fulano (guy – fulana is a woman of ill repute) who came for Aurora. Bar claims that just because she’s their father’s wife, she never interferes in their lives. Bar says they have to find Aurora right away because she is in danger. But, now their father needs them at his side because Obregon sent a photo of Lili.

I guess Bar has put Damian on the back burner so to speak.

Avances: Jacinto tells Gardenia about the wedding and the plans are made. Gardenia says that Eduardo will not marry that old woman.

Someone who knows how, please post this for me. Thanks.

Great recap Pasofino. I missed a couple of things and you filled it it for me.

I don't remember Fer knowing about a secret bank account for Babs. Fr/Ed must have mentioned it but I just don't remember.

If that is Fernanda's house and Fernanda's room why does Dam have any right to treat her like that. I get the whole married obligation blah, blah, blah, but no means no. She should kick his good for nothing butt out the door.

Maybe my idea about Lili isn't that far off. Maybe AB will protect her from Barbie.

Pasofino, what a funny recap. This episode was both hilarious as well as heart-rending, and you captured the moods wonderfully. Who could not share in Nanda's desperation and near panic. The scenes between her and Damián were almost too painful to watch. I almost felt sympathy for Dam as he progressed from simply disgusting to pitiable. His final ultimatum was laugh inducing; it took Nanda a whole tenth of a second to deliberate and then answer with her feet.

So Lil is Artie's daughter? One of us desperate needs to update the ever evolving Elizalde family tree.

Permit me to mildly amend your reporting of the first scene because it set the stage for Esteve's thorough diddling of Camilo's feeble mind.

Esteve offered Camy a drink and he requested whisky.
"With ice?" asks Esteve.
"How do you take it?" replies Camy.
"With water, only water.", says Esteve.
"That's fine," Camy, trying to male bond with with Esteve, counters, "with just water."
Esteve then proceeds to plop ice cubes in a glass and fills it with whisky(no water) and hands it to Camy who looks at it somewhat puzzled,as it begins to dawn on him that he is about to have a very unpleasant conversation with the redheaded stranger, Esteve.

Excellent acting by both.

Carlos

I noticed that too Carlos but didn't know what it signified. I thought Esteve was just trying to shake Cadmil-Ho up. I thought he was going to start laughing before Cadmil-Ho even left.

Thanks for the recap, pasofino. I missed the first 20 minutes, last night.

Barb has to get rid of Lili, since Lil knows Barb killed Montse. Artemio may be Lil's only hope to survive, at this point. Maybe. I'm staying tuned....

Camilo sure had that Que-the-h*ll? look on his face during that talk with Steve. This is a dangerous prank Esteve is pulling, and I don't see it ending well at all. I worry that Venus will suffer the most from Cam's anger, once he finds out.

Connie: I'm on board in thinking that AB will either protect Lili or will save her from harm in some way. Lili knows Bar killed Montserrat and that is very dangerous.

Carlos: I did skate over the ice cube scene. Thanks for the refill.

Doris: I, too, wonder what will happen to Venus if she really "marries" Camilo.

I'm unclear on exactly what Esteve is trying to accomplish by jacking with Camy's mind but he is certainly enjoying himself and it's certainly fun to watch.

Carlos

So much for my belief that Damian's ego wouldn't allow him to get rough with Fer to get her into bed. I think if it hadn't been for his leg injury, things would have gone differently. (I could be wrong, but now we'll never know.)

Also, he's a bit confused about how the "liquor is quicker" thing works. Damian, it doesn't work nearly as well when the guy does all the drinking. I'm sure there are ladies out there who are tempted by a flushed, sweaty face, clumsy hands, and a panicked tone, but Fer's clearly not one of them. If she were, I'm sure she could have had her pick when she was away at school.

Pasofino, thanks for the great recap. Erika and her mother are delusional. Does Cam intend to marry Venus? Will either of these weddings ever happen? So many questions.

The scene with Lili and Arti was really touching, hopefully he will protect her from Barbwire.

Carlos, do you have happy sweet corn? It looks like you finally have the lion's share of rain this week.

rsk

Pasofino, yes, the white dress would make a lovely shroud!

rsk

Can someone clear something up for me - Venus has a crush on Esteve, right? Not on Camilo, right?

It was nice to see original Venus again last night - just for confirmation that whiny, annoying "Loafly" is only skin-deep!

I suppose Venus and Esteve's wedding would be a civil ceremony only (due to the haste), plus Venus should have no trouble preventing the "honeymoon." Then a civil annulment would be possible. (Just mentioning the civil annulment because I think Catholics can still marry in a church if their civil marriage is nullified.)

Well, I suppose Camilo could use knockout drops on her. Having previous worked in a bar, however, hopefully Venus is smart about such things.

Then again, Venus would be getting married under a false identity, which can't be legal anyway(??). (Ditto for Franco Santoro marrying Erika, for that matter.) So maybe a divorce/annulment wouldn't be necessary.

The whole thing sounds like a very bad idea. The whole thing is nuts. I hope there's some part of the plan where Venus doesn't have to marry that guy, even in a fake ceremony.

Paso, great recap, filled in a couple things that went by too fast for me, thanks.
That was a pretty suspenseful scene with Esteve and Cad, this is how I took the drink choice scene. Cad tries to be deferential, (I'll take it as you would), and Esteve as much as sez- "this is how you wanted it- now take it". A very unpleasant conversation for Cad. I'm not sure what Esevet has planned for Cad, but he is pushing Cad into a corner, I don't like it one bit. I'm not

I don't think that Lili is Arty's daughter, but that she mistook him for her daddy, she's hardly seen him for years (Gonzo), and could not help but assume that she is now in daddy's protection. Maybe Arty has been softened by her innocence, this is going to be interesting.

That idiotic dinner at Errorika's. What a stupid idea that Eddy has to marry her, I wish that Esteve would just tell him so, like a buddy would do. Not sure who is more the teenager- Err or Dolly. I like Augustin, tho, one of the only ones that seems to have a lick of sense. Quite a change from the last role that i saw this actor in- the nasty, nasty attorney about 3 TN's ago.

I'm hoping that that was the final straw between Fer and Dam, I've been finding that tiresome. Fer's not going to give it up, Dam's not going to quit trying. But now she's asked the favor of him, so what's next? It's kinda clumsy plot-wise.

rsk, yes indeed, my sweet corn seemed to enjoy the rain. It looks to be about a week or so until harvest. Meanwhile, Linda found some great sweet corn at HEB lat week. Now, my fears turn toward a family of raccoons who took much more than their share of the bounty on my last attempt at this.

Carlos

I forgot to comment on wardrobe issues. That odd dress of Babs', ruffles to the throat, modest, then clingy and the cut in front- it's just incongruous and a strange thing for someone to be wearing around all day. Isn't it?
That stupid silk flower that Fer had on. I thought that it was gone for a while, then, when she/Dam took off her jacket, it exploded out like a magician's prop. It was almost funny.

Thanks, Pasofino. Yes, a shroud ! I've been trying to figure out what Barbie's dress reminded me of...I think you've hit on it. It was so frustrating watching the switch from scenes of drunk Dam trying to weasel Fer into bed to Er and her parents trying to nail Fr'ed down about the boda. [My younger daughter used to look in the mirror and cry when she was sent to her bedroom for a time out. Watching Fer in her bano brought back a lot of memories.] I am beginning to think that Fer and Fr'ed are not going to sleep together until Fer discovers that Franco is in reality her Onetruelove Eduardo o o . She'll recall the days when she was sugar and spice and everything nice and he was snips and snails and puppydog tails and she won't be able to resist him. Franco has had plenty of chances to seduce Fer, especially during those clandestine ''business'' meetings at The Country Acres with the Old Dude down the Hill Estate. Now, he thinks she loves Dam, and she thinks he loves Er. Que lastima. I think that now something will happen that will reveal Franco's true identity to Fer, and once she knows he's her childhood love, she won't be able to resist him after each vows that he/she is not in love with another [Er, Dam]. Lili has always had strong intuitive powers . She knew Barbie was E-ville from the start. She sensed that Franco was Eduardo immediately when he returned and went to visit her. Now, she senses that Art is her real dad. I figured Esteve's plan was to trick Cad into marrying a mudwrestler, and Cad looked impactado at Esteve's ultimatum. I just am hoping that if Cad gets physical and tries to beat Loafly after he discovers that he's been tricked that The Mighty Venus deals out a smackdown on him and dedicates the thrashing to all mujers everywhere. I'm sure that Art and Barbie are going to eventually go down in flames because they've both killed people and caused pain to many. Dam hasn't killed anyone , but he's a spoiled , amoral, dim loser who was nasty to his mother, threatening to his esposa, and accomodating to his mother-in-law. Something bad will surely happen to him , but I don't think that he will die. He'll just suffer and be humiliated. p.s. Esteve really likes to mess with people..He did give Cad water in his whiskey, but it was frozen water. I know some people like Esteve.

Julie~~~About the fake names...remember how this was a topic of discussion during our pirate days with Pasion. Didn't Ric marry Camila under an assumed name ? We wondered whether the marriage would be valid. Also, in Amor Real, Manuel married Matilde , but then his fake cousin came to town and they made him say that the rich Fuentes Guerra was not his dad and took away his last name. When he and Matilde were hiding out at the convent, the mother Superior told Adolfo Solis that the church doesn't marry ''names'' ; it marries people. I have a couple from Peru who told me that in their country most people are Catholic and get married in the church, but the government only recognizes a civil ceremony, so some people have both. I think it might be the same in Mexico...the church recognizes the church ceremony, but the gov't recognizes the civil one.

Thanks for the recap Pasofino. It was quite an episode.

I'm so glad Fer remained pure and Dam was frustrated. I wonder what happens to him now that Fer said no to his ultimatum.

I can't comment about Fr/Ed and Erika's family - I'm trying to forget.

DDave~~~Yes, I agree, Barbie's shroud did send mixed messages. Carlos~~~I feel empathy for you about the Raccoon Family. We had a raccoon at the farm that kept breaking into the huge trash can that Hub stores the catfood in no matter what he did...He put bungee cords all over the lid...it still got in...Hub put a gigantic cement block on top of the bungeed lid...he still got in . Finally, Hub put the catfood in an old refrig. That stopped the raccoon banquet at last. Bueno Suarte.

Thanks for the great recap Pasofino. I missed it last night because of some weird scheduling glitch on my TV Guide because of soccer.

susanlynn - Why oh why did you have to mention Pasion? :) I miss the old Colunga, the man who takes charge, has all the answers and is confident! Fr/Ed needs some Ricardo!

I'm sensing a lot of negativity toward Erica and her mom and dad. While it's true that Erica and Dolly act like schoolgirls, I say well they might since Eddie seems like such prime husband beef. He's...well no need to outline his virtues to this crowd.Contrast this family dinner with just about any Elizalde family get together. Pretty normal for an old money family. Daddy seems intelligent and legitimately skeptical of this pig in a poke. I know, it's not exactly an apt metaphor for our galan. If there is a heavy in this part of the plot it's Franco. He has absolutely no business playing with this girl's affections as he is, no matter how immature and flighty she is. Same goes for Esteve and his psychology experiment with Venus and Camilo. As funny as it is right now I worry about the possible consequences.

Carlos

I guess I missed Dam saying "do this or else..." What a moron. Ok guys, for future reference... don't ever give a woman an ultimatum because it's not going to come out the way you want.

I'm so afraid Cad is going to get really mad at Loafly and try (I said try) to bully and abuse her. But then again I think Cad will be in for a surprise if he does. I picture his head in a toilet getting a nice swirly or maybe his head through a wall...hmmmm...just imagine the possibilities.

Thanks for the recap, Pasofino. It's a joy to have all you talented and funny people donate your time to give us additional pleasure after watching the TNs.

The one thing I am not sure about is when Fer kneeled at Dam's feet: Did she give him an ultimatum that there would be no sex UNTIL he gives her Bab's secret bank account number? And he agreed? If so, good for her - finally, the Fer we were rooting for!

I also think it is so wrong, wrong, wrong for Fr/ed to string not just Erica along but also her parents.

By the way, Erica certainly looks pregnant now, doesn't she?

MEPS in AZ

Yesterday was the first time I thought Aurora's logic made more sense than either Fr/Ed's or Esteve's. I could totally understand her not wanting to cause violence between two brothers because that's exactly what would happen if Santiago found out about the drug rape. Meantime, Venus/Loafly may actually "marry" Camilho. Why? So that the guys can spy on Camilo? And Franco is really going to marry Erika? Why? Just to hurt Fernanda? Now that's some crazy thinking.

I like Erika's family in spite of how giddy and juvenile she and her mom are. They all seem to love each other and her parents don't deserve to be put through this charade. Well, it's a charade for Franco, dim Erika really seems to think it's for real. I remember Erika's father specifically clarifying that he wasn't asking Franco about his business credentials, but about his feelings for his daughter.

MEPS in AZ- The kneeling puzzzled me, too, as well as her request for the bank info. The inference to me was- get the account #, and I'll put out. We know she's never going to give up her precious "gift" to her marido, so will he cumplete his end of the bargain, only to be further frustrated?

Carlos- otra vez, ITA about the two families- The Estorbas have a fine relationship, I'd love to sit down to dinner with them, Augustin and Dolly are great together, good naturedly chiding, and joking, Err is adored single child; they all get alon and support each other. The Elizaldes dinner table is just a place they seem to get together to torture each other, a place for animosities and rivalries to vent. In a word, Hell. We'er watching them, so they must have put the "fun" back into dysfunctional...

Eddy is showing more and more flaws as time goes on, this b.s. engagemnet is abhorrent. Their original agreement was for Err to break it off to save face, I hope that's the way that it goes...

I'd like to see a big man get down on his knees, look up to heaven and scream GAVIOTA!

See: Eduardo Yanez in Destilando Amor.

Pasofino, thanks for a terrific recap.

MEPS - I'm pretty sure the actress playing Erika was pregnant at this point, and they're trying to hide it.

I enjoyed Steve's environment for the tough conservative Dad thing. He was wearing a suit, a fire was going in the fireplace. Quite unlike Esteve in baseball outfit we saw earlier.

Damian is so foolish, demanding his "marital rights". Besides being a bad way to convince Fer, doesn't he remember that the whole marriage was set up? He doesn't love her, and although he lusts for her, he should just let it rest, and have a bunch of affairs.

I think there was an elegant symmetry with our villains. Barbara discovered Aurora is her daughter. Artemio may have discovered Lili is his daughter. In each case, their tough exteriors are encountering the possiblity of love.

pasofini - I forgot to mention earlier that I love your title! :o)

I doubt Lili is Artemio's daughter. Hopefully, he never would have authorized 15 years of brain-frying drugs for his own child. I think our addlepated Lili sees the similarity between half-bros. Arty and Gonzo, and thinks Arty is Gonzo.

Thanks, Pasofino, for the very helpful recap.

I mistakenly thought that Esteve told Cad that he (Esteve) takes only water--i.e., he drinks only water, not alcohol. Oh well...another 25 years and quizás my Spanish will be serviceable.

Like several others here, I'm pretty fed up with both Fr/Ed and Esteve for the way they're playing with people. Hard to see how this is going to work out without good people being hurt.

As for Lili, I'm not so sure that she's all that safe with Artemio. Let's not forget that Barbara killed Monserrat on Artemio's orders.

I'm also not so sure that Barbara's maternal feelings will save Aurora if Barbie locates her. After all, Aurora told the Primary Care Bruja that she saw Barbie do the nasty with Damien, and Bruja dutifully passed this on to Barbie.

Damian is pursuing the conquest of Fer for two reasons. First, he lusts after her. Secondly, His marriage to her was the main part of Babs' plan, and to work, it has to be consumated. If he doesn't prevail, he will get nothing (or worse) for all his efforts. Babs is pressuring him, he is becoming desperate.

I'm wondering if Arty might be having a change of heart, if only slightly, and temporarily. Seeing Lili, realizing how she was an innocent in this sordid affair, and how she must have suffered all those years, has put a human face on it that he's never faced. It might make him realize that the revenge should be directed at Gonzo, and not at the rest of the family. That would have made way better sense, anyway. There I go again, expecting this to make sense...

Venus can't marry Cad. Steve made it very clear at the outset he didn't want her to sleep with Cad. And really that would be just an awful way to use her! She got enough of that from the crappy bar owner.

I still think Fer needs to go running to Fr/Ed about Dam and let him make her feel better!

Juanita, I enjoyed this scene so much that I sought it out on You Tube and here's the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVMe-M6FOgM

Starting about 5'44" it includes the little exchange(very pleasant) between Gardenia(always a pleasure) and Esteve as well as DD sticking here tongue out at Camy(cute). I especially like the devilish look on Esteve's face as he inquires about Camy's preference all the while not missing a beat as he fixes the drink that Camy's going to get. Also noteworthy is Camilo's perplexed look as he swirls the ice in his whisky. All rather subtle but very funny.

Carlos

I went back and watched the fireside chat again. I think that Esteve said, when asked how he takes his whisky, "Yo tomo solo agua", inferring that he wasn't going to drink with Cad at all. Not that it makes much difference.

Pasofino, thanks for the recap on this loaded episode.
Fer crying in the bathroom was heart wrenching. Drunken Dam was despicable (good acting, Sergio!) Yes, strip poker with a drunken husband is every girl’s dream for a wedding night. Good thing he gave her that ultimatum, so she can break free.

If I understood, Erika’s dad said he knew about the business background, but he wanted to know about Franco’s emotional history. I’m not sure a few weeks (last Sat. of the month) is long enough to pull together a society wedding.

Estev was quite impressive with Camilo, taking him to the woodshed to point out Cam’s 10 million dollar mistake.

Nice flashback of Barb’s labor pains.

Lili’s cheek kiss on Artemio and his reaction were intriguing. This must be headed somewhere.
La Paloma

Thanks for the great recap, Pasofino.

I am with the commenters who do not believe Lili is AB's child. She was reacting the same way as Aurora when she saw him through the window at Dominga's casa. He looks so much like Gonzalo to them. Lili is too confused to notice the different hair color. I agree he would not have left her in the manicomio if she were his. But her innocent affection may soften the ogre up a bit. I really don't think that any of the Elizalde kids are AB's, but a possible one might be the oldest, Anibal, indicating that Montsie was preggers when she married Gonzo. But that's all speculation with no evidence at this time.

I think Fr/Ed may have told Fer about Barbwire's offshore account when they were discussing the infusion of capital into GrupoLactos. He put the "finders fee" into that account, I believe at the same time he put the $10 mil into GL's account.

Fernanda may want the account information to prove to her father that Lili's ransom money really went to Barbwire, if indeed the ransom is paid. But the fact that it's in the name of Rebeca Sanchez could complicate things. Of course, Fr/Ed knows Rebeca Sanchez is connected to Barbwire, since she told him it was a "dear friend of total confidence".

Barbwire is not really finessing the Santiago issue very well. Now she's switching stories so he'll find her, but what she's saying doesn't make much sense.

ITA about the stupidity of the two loveless marriages: Venus and Cam and Fr/Ed and Erika. Don't think Fr/Ed will really marry Erika; something will prevent it -- maybe Gardenia. But Venus and Cam is supposed to be in one day. Although in this TN, one day could take two weeks!

I also thought Esteve said he was only drinking water. And then Cam backpedaled like he only wanted water too. And Estev gave him the whiskey anyway to let him know that Cam's efforts to be amiable weren't going to soften Esteve's mood.

DDave, Julie, DDave's translation is spot on ,we only disagree slightly as to what was meant, not what was said. We even agree that Camy didn't get the drink he requested. I still like my interpretation of what was actually meant, taking into consideration the body language and facial expressions involved. As a somewhat veteran scotch whisky fan, I have actually said, "I'll take it with just a little water." Certainly a very minor point.

yep, Silvia Navarro cries the best, & not overdone.

Fernanda is going to prostitute herself for Babs acct #?.

By God, I think you've got it, the Inquisition for Camilo, spiked chair, water boarding, the head crusher, none of it too bad for Camilo.

Fr/Ed knows Babs acct # under the name of Rebeca Sánchez, but he & Fernanda haven't discussed that & put 1 & 1 together. Fr/Ed transferred the $1 mil finders fee to RS's acct. Our MBA should have suspected sth about that.

Didn't Venus ask Esteve if that's the kind of woman he liked. I see those 2 juntos, after all he created her o better to say, brought out all of her good qualities. He was smtten the 1st time he saw her. Eliza & Prof Henry.

Agustin did give an inquisitive look to Fr/Ed at one time, I'm not sure he thinks this wedding should happen.

fulano is so & so
fulano, zutano y mengano = Tom, Dick & Harry.

As always great recap Pasofino.

My fin de semana peliculas

Amarte es mi Pecado, Sergio Sendel, Jacinto & Margarita are also in it.

Strawberry and Chocolate, don't recognize any of the actors names
Jorge Perugorria, Vladimir Cruz, Mirtha Ibarra.

Doris: Glad you liked the title.

Julie: I think Venus has a crush on Steve, but she also seems to drool over Camilo.

Carlos: Some of us just can't bring ourselves to like Erika. We are in a state of suspended belief when where in MEPS mundi, but, the giggling is a killer.

Dave: I hope it's the final straw, too. Life must be very difficult when you have to work and live with the same people.

Jackie: And, yes, Aurora's logic was delivered via a flood of tears.

Novelera: Barbwire. I love it.

Pasofino, I can't take credit for Barbwire. Someone else used it first. I can't remember who it was, but maybe they'll see my post and do so.

Pasofino: "making love to a mannequin" What a way to nail it! "Round one fo the Spanish Inquisition" is another winner this week! Also had to laugh when you said you wished she had a bathroom window to crawl out, cuz I told the hubby the exact same thing. Great recap!
