MEPS - Wednesday, July 22 - Hyena hyperventilates; Aurora seeks shelter; Camilo is on the hot seat

EPISODE #111:

* Lili wanders through the hallway and into Don Artemio Bravo's office. She wanders over to the window as Don Artemio and his warrior assistant enter. Don Artemio sends the warrior out of the office. He calls Lili by name twice. She turns and is shocked as she stares at him and the floor and walks over to the other side of the room. AB notes how she looks like her mother. He takes out an envelope and rifles through the photos. He finds Montserrat's photo and notes that Lili has her mother's eyes. Lili continues to stare at AB. AB tells her he thinks she's wondering where she is and who he is. She only says she's thirsty.

* Camilo meets with Lovely at his bachelor pad. They have some wine and discuss their relationship and her uncle Steve. Franco's phone call interrupts. He tells Camilo that Steve has agreed to meet with him at Las Animas tonight. Camilo asks if Lovely can come too. Franco tells him no -- this meeting is just between Steve and Camilo alone.

* Tomasa puts a tray with a pitcher and glass of lemonade on the desk and leaves Santi in his studio. Santi sits and ponders Camilo's threat about him leaving Aurora alone and her becoming bored with him. Then he ponders and remembers how in love he and Aurora are (they made love). Santi picks up his painting tools and assures himself that Aurora does love him.

* Female associate brings a tray with water to the office. Lili grabs the glass of water and gulps it down. AB returns. She backs away as he tries to get close to her. He tells her that she'll be there for a long while.

* Damian and Fey argue about her having to leave with Jacinto on an important errand instead of staying by his side 24/7. He's frustrated - she kisses his forehead and says that Tomasa will be available to help him. She leaves.

* As AB starts to make a phone call, Lili looks like she wants to make a break for it but instead sees Ciro the friendly ghost appear near the doorway and smile at her.

* Barbie meets with Rosenda in the witch's apartment. Barbie answers her cell - it's AB to tell her that Lili is safe and sound with him. Barbie is so excited she can't wait to leave and run right over. Barbie tries to contain her glee in front of Rosenda, who offers her some insincere congratulations.

* At Las Animas, Franco meets with Fey in the office. He informs her about Obregon's call to her father and the ranson he is asking for. Fey can't believe it and thinks it may be a trap. Franco agrees with her but they have no other option but to go along with it for now and be patient. Just then Steve enters and interrupts. Steve brings in the pink envelope that Erika gave him for Franco and says that it's an invitation for Franco to join Erika and her parents for dinner tonight (about the engagement). Steve then reminds Franco about another matter as Franco is in a hurry to rush Steve out of the room.

* Rosenda tells Barbie two important things - The first thing Rosenda told Barbara was that Aurora had been there earlier asking for Rosenda's help. Barbie doesn't really care about the first one at the moment. Then Rosinda tells Barbie about what Aurora said of the handkerchief of Rebeca Sanchez -- she says the Aurora confessed to her that the handkerchief was Aurora's only memory of her mother. Barbie about hyperventilates and has a stroke. (WHOA!)

* Damian yells at Tomasa to leave him alone. She scurries away and closes the door behind her. He then makes a mysterious phone call.

* Vladimir surprises Priscilla (su gordita) with a bouquet of red roses in the parking garage. Priscilla really wants him to leave her alone but he refuses. She reluctantly lets him put them in the back seat. She wants him to let her leave alone - he insists on her going to his apartment for a surprise. She reluctantly agrees. He pops into the back seat and she has to make him duck down low so the ladies walking in the garage don't see them together as she drives away.

* Rosie walks Barbie, who is still hyperventilating and having an asthma attack, to a chair in the other room. Barbie wants to know everything Aurora told her about Rebeca Sanchez. Rosie says Aurora didn't say too much, just that the handkerchief was her only clue to use to try and find her mother but it's lost and the only thing she knows is that her mom is dead and her mom's soul is in 'limbo'. Barbie is really distraught now.

* Aurora meets with Madre Superior at the convent school office. Aurora begs for help.

* In the office, Steve pour coffee as Fey tells Franco about Damian's recovery. Franco answers his cell phone -- low and behold it's Damian wanting to speak with his wife. Franco obliges and hands the cell phone to Fey. Franco quietly walks out of the office.

* Priscilla is in a hurry at the apartment. Vladimir insists on putting a blindfold on Priscilla for the surprise. She obliges.

* Fey starts to argue with Damian over the phone when she sees Steve is still in the room. Steve quickly departs. Fey and Damian then argue loudly over the phone - he demands to know what she's doing with Franco. She says it's about the community center project.

* Franco stands and stares out the window - he's frustrated.

* Vladimir brings Priscilla into the room he decorated up as a precious nursery. He takes off the blindfold. Priscilla is stunned and silent as she takes it all in. Vladimir plays a music box and asks if she likes the surprise. She stays impactado and silent. He confesses to her how much he loves and wants to be there for her and their baby. That's when Priscilla snaps. She throws a music box at him and it hits the wall and yells and screams that her baby is Anibal's! Only Anibal's! Leave her alone! She hates him and never wants to see him again. She stomps out. He kneels on the floor, crying like a big baby.

* Fey finds Steve in the living room. She wonders where Franco is - she wants to thank him for his help and support. Steve says he had to leave. Steve hands Fey a check for the center; then says that Franco left to take care of something before his dinner with Erika.

* In the dining room, Erika and Dolly are cleaning silverware and talking about Franco; Erika mentions the mystery woman that Franco is trying to get over.

* Aurora cries to Madre Superior and asks that she be able to live there at the convent with the nuns.

* Barbie and Rosenda make a pact - that if Aurora should return, Rosie is to do everything to keep her there and not tell anyone but Barbie. Barbie answers her cell phone - it's AB wondering where she is. Barbie, the robot, says she's on her way.

* Aurora continue to talk and beg Madre for shelter and protection at the convent school. Madre wants to know what's wrong? Aurora won't reveal anything.

* Fey returns home. Santi meets her in the front hall. She tells him about her meeting with Franco; about the phone call from Obregon and the ranson demand. Santi is shocked; then tells his sister how worried he is about Aurora's disappearance. They go upstairs.

* Fey finds Damian all dressed up in a suit and tie, sitting on the end of the bed with a table set up for a romantic evening - champagne and everything. She's stunned speechless. He tells her he thinks it's time for them to have their long-awaited wedding night tonight.

* AB is seated at his desk and tells the speaker phone to send someone in. Barbie waltzes into the office and stares at AB. AB signals with his fingers for her to follow him. They enter the bedroom and find Lili napping on the little love seat. Barbie shows AB the newspaper and says they need a photo of Lili with today's paper to "prove" to the Elizaldes that Obregon has Lili. AB says 'go ahead and do it.'

* Gonzo is on the phone grumbling about how worried he is over Lili's kidnapping.

* Barbie shouts at Lili to wake up. She sits up with a start - Barbie snaps the photo. Lili looks around in a daze. Barbie and AB talk about showing the photo to Gonzo as they leave the room.

* In the office, Barbie and AB argue over her baby again - she is adamant that her daughter is still alive. He is adamant that her son died at childbirth.

* Fey sits on the bed as Damian pours them glasses of champagne. He hands her one glass. She looks at him surprised, stunned and is concerned that the alcohol may interfere with his treatment and recovery. He chug-a-lugs the champagne down in one gulp and proudly proclaims that he is fine and dandy, nothing to worry about.

* Franco sits down to dinner with Erika and her parents.

* Damian toasts his marriage with Fey. She stares at him as he goes on and on about 'their love becoming a reality'. He chugs another glass of champagne -- she still hasn't touched her first glass. He says they are married and kisses her hand. He wants them to make love. She's uneasy and uncomfortable. He leans in for a kiss.

* Camilo arrives at Las Animas. Gardenia lets him inside. Camilo goes to the living room as Steve whispers to Gardenia the plan for the evening. Gardenia leaves. Steve joins Camilo in the living room. As Steve brings Camilo his whiskey on the rocks, he starts the discussion about Camilo's intentions regarding his niece Lovely Norton.

* Dolly informs Franco that when Gonzo sent Fey to school in Spain, they sent Erika to Spain also. Franco smiles at the fun story about the BFFs studying in Spain. Dolly and Agustin (Erika's parents) ask about Franco's family - Franco says he doesn't have any siblings. Agustin (Erika's dad) then says that he has an important question to ask Franco.

ADVANCE: Fey is "torn between two lovers, acting like a fool". Meanwhile, Franco solidifies his plan to marry Erika.

It is now revealed that Babs knows that she is Aurora's mother. There is no other explanation. The look of anguish in her face is so sad. Artemio Bravo clearly has some hold over her and she begins to agrssively question him about her child. The plot thickens.

I must say that Vladimir's feeble attempt to get Priscilla at all costs is nothing but a big failure.
Priscilla clearly hate all of it. She is not at all comfortable with his continued harrassment. Hopefully this will be the last I see of Vladimir.

Too much of everyone's personal issues are what everybody is focused during working time.

I wonder if anyone will do some actual work in the office. This is something I find quite disturbing.

Now that Artemio Bravo has Liliana, I wonder if her being there will help or hinder her recovery. Even if she was institutionalized with nothing wrong, the fact that she was cut off from society, education, fed drugs and the post traumatic stress disorder of seeing her mother murdered then get blamed for it takes its toll after 15 years. After she is fully recovered or if she is fully recovered, she would still need to be eased into society through a halfway house.

Ibarramedia

So much on my theory that Artemio won't tell Babs about having Lili.

I have a feeling that champagne & pain meds are not going to help Damian with his plan for the wedding night. I wonder how many more excuses the writers can come up with?

Tks mucho Jody

Thanks Jody. The first thing Rosenda told Barbara was that Aurora had been there earlier asking for Rosenda's help. Now that Barbara knows Aurora's her daugher, she's desperately hoping she'll come back again and Rosenda can keep her there. I was almost feeling sorry for Babs until she cold-bloodedly took the photo of Lili with the newspaper. It's not to publish in a newspaper, it's to "prove" to the Elizaldes that Obregon has Lili because of the current date of the newspaper she's holding.

At first I thought Priscila was touched by the nursery Vlad had set up. I was surprised when she started throwing things and yelling at him. Poor guy, he's deluded but he was really hurt.

Jody: A powerful recap of a very eventful episode. So much happened and you captured it all so well.

Fairly emotionless and totally without soul, Barbara may have experienced real pain and anguish for the first time in her life. Her world turned upside down, and she was definitely "shaken not stirred". The question now is how will this change things for her? The first indication was the joy in finding Lili seemed gone when she took her picture (some slight guilt)? Even more telling, was her questioning Artemio about her child. She now knows he lied to her and sense he will feel her wrath shortly...

Pris saw a glimpse of what her life would be if she was with someone who loved her and was truly excited about the baby. I think her reality (a husband who doesn't love her and who couldn't care less about the baby) was simply too much to handle. And Vlad...simply painful to watch.

Fer has put off Dam for months (weeks??), sure she can hold him off one more night.

Diana in MA

Thanks for the recap Jody. Someone needs to give Dam some sleepy-time tea. What a total jerk. I hope that champagne sneaks up on him from behind and then BAM....Lights out!

The more I think about Ciro and Lili I think that Ciro led her to Artemio because he felt she would be safe. Safe from what I don't know because we have Babs there and Artemio is no choir boy that's for sure. Just a different take on the situation...

I'm not a real fan of Vlad but I really felt sorry for him. She could have been a little nicer about it.

Thanks, Jody. Well, Dam seems all dressed up with no place to go. It is just not going to happen , Bro. Likewise, the delightfully deluded Vlad the Expectant Dad ...what can I say ? First, I couldn't believe that Pris let him in her car. [The roses were beautiful...This guy would make a good novio for some mujer who actually could stand him.] Then, I couldn't believe that Pris let him blindfold her. Que the hell ? Show of hands--how many of you out there would let a stalker blindfold you ? Also, I cannot believe that Franco is continuing this ruse of marrying Er. [I must say that I loved the idea of putting the centerpiece and candles at the end of that big table instead of in the center where it would have hindered conversation....Conversation here meaning Fr'ed putting on a big act in front of Er's parents. ] If Dolly were helpful, she would point out to her daughter that it is never a good idea to marry a guy who is ''TRYING'' to get over another woman. Dolly , were you listening when your daughter said that ? So, I guess The Bruja does not realize that Rebecca Sanchez and Boss Barbie are one and the same. I enjoyed watching Barb fumbling around the room impactada having some kind of attack. Then, Art calls, and the Barbot is on the roll again. Julie~~~You called Lili's reaction pretty close..She didn't ask for ice cream, but she did say thar she was thirsty ~~!!!

thank you anonymous for the correction. i'll make the changes to the recap now.

;)

Thanks, Jody, for the helpful recap.

Anonymous 8:02, I too thought at first that Priscilla was moved by Vladimir's "surprise." I was thus stunned when she turned on him.

The Lili plot is becoming more interesting--and perilous. Now that she has seen Barbie at AB's, it's unlikely they'll let her go even if the ransom is paid. Then again, I guess Lili's accusations against Barbie would just foment more discord among the Elizaldes, which is part of Barbie's goal. Hmmm....

And, frankly, I don't see how Fr/Ed's going to worm his way out of the deception he has created vis a vis Erika. His behavior at the dinner with her parents seems to me unforgiveable. Though I may relent if he gives us more shower scenes :-)

Caught between the reality of the life she has chosen, the Elizaldes, a bold print name that brings status but no love to her life, then seeing the true devotion of a common man, was more than Pris could handle. She quickly went from tears to hysterical outrage. When Pris explains her frequent rejections to Vladi, she says, in so many words, that her baby will be an Elizalde. This distinction is very important to her. She has given up a lot for this. Of course, this is the main theme of the novela, social relationships between the various classes in Mexico. I just wish Vladi had a little more gumption, strength, smarts or something, his devotion to the baby is very sweet.

I don’t know whether Babs wants to see Aurora to love her or ........kill her.

Thanks Jody....great job, you filled in a lot of details that I missed.

Great work Jody. I'm starting to feel a bit of sympathy for Damien. Todo el mundo except him knows it ain't gonna happen. Might as well drink up, laddie.

Carlos

Thank you Jody. I was nervous about eSteve's behavior when giving that pink invitation to Franco in front of Fer. Fr/Ed obviously did not want attention on it but eSteve seems to be baiting those two. Could he maybe want them to admit their feelings out loud to each other?
Barb was as you said Diana, feeling sincere regret. To me this was the first punishment ladled out. Because its only the start I did feel sorry for her.
I too think Lili sees in Artemio the resemblance to her father. I think thats why she's not screaming bloody terror.
Now what ever happened to Fernanda the stand up indignant woman who called Dam to task for leaving her stranded at the manicomo that day? She let him think she was unaware he had left - until they were alone and she hit him with it. Another time she told him off about his bad manners or something. Now he's way way out of line, bullying screaming at her demanding sex like he owns her and she owes him. And she does not stop him in his tracks!? Where's that other Fernanda? LAST straw, calling/tracking me on another man's cell?!! Why didn't she knock him off his last leg! She's acting like his behavior to his mother and to her is acceptable now and into the future.
MAYbe she was hoping like me that the wine and meds will put him out for the count. I can't wait for her to find out about his special duties to Barb.

Thank you for the recap, Jody.

One can only hope the champagne and pain meds will knock out Damian in the nick of time. Or maybe Fer's cell phone will ring. No matter what, "It" isn't going to happen.

Vlad still creeps me out. I do not trust him; he's got a crazy streak.

I am truly enjoying Silvia Navarro in this 'novela. What a breath of fresh air! Clearly, she did not grow up in the Telerisa School of Acting.

Thanks so much, Jodie, you did a fine job with this lively episode.

Babs finally knows that Abora is her spawn, she finally knows what emotions feel like, she finally sees the effect of her evil. Then AB calls, and it's back to the Barbot, cold and calculating. I could not believe that she allowed Lili to see her at AB's manse. That was a serious tactical error, it will come back to haunt her. Anyone could have taken the pic, and she'd beter erase it from her cell phone, too.

Pris was truly moved and touched by the nursery. The blindfold- I think that she trusts Vlad, knows that, while weird and a stalker, he is harmless. Her anger and rejection of him is her reaction to the fact that she cannot allow this fairytale future to exist, she must go forward with her miserable life with Any?balls, and has to cut off Vlad. She is torn by this.

Esteve waving the invitation envelpoe I think is his way of goading Eddy (and FEr) to declare their feelings for each other. Of course, it's not going to work, way too many episodes left 'til el final. I am concerned about Esteve meeting with Cad, telling the psycho things that he doesn't want to hear.

We are in for another happening episode, the soccer game is going to interfer somehow, I gotta check the schedule.

Seeing Barb in anguish was a big "YES" moment for me. Her panic attack/shock was too perfect.

I think Vlad is really creepy, standing behind Pris with roses and a big crazy eyed grin on his face. Then the nursery...too Norman Bates for me. He and Gardenia are a perfect match.Maybe she can give his some of her love potions to try on Pris.

I agree that only Anibal seems to work. No wonder that big corporation cant dig up a mere $3 million, it certainly isn't the "cash cow" it should be.

Poor Fer, she was almost shaking with dread having to sleep with Dam. She should hire a hot nurse with a sexy short uniform to distract him. But I'm sure between the meds, champagne and dinner he refused will save Fer tonight!

Thanks for the recap Jody. You had quite an episode starting with Barbie's breakdown.

I'm glad you all assured me that Dam is not getting anything (I know he wasn't) b/c Fer looked so horrified I was outraged. I'm with Bonnie what happened to the Fer with a spine and would call Dam out? Sylvia's (Fer) crying in the previews was so real I felt as hopeless as she was feeling.

I loved that Barb was "shaken not stirred" (good one Diana). It will be interesting to see how she will take her revenge on AB now that she knows he's lying.

And I agree with those that believe Pris snapped b/c Vlad's kindness is such a contrast to the empty life she has now with Ani.

Fr/Ed plan to marry Erika is one of the dumbest things he's ever done. ITA with Susanlynn, Dolly should tell her daughter to wait until he's gotten over mystery woman. The writers have made Dolly and Erika so painfully vapid you just want to slap them.

Lordy, lordy, Aurora is finally confirmed as Babs' daughter. As if the girl did not have enough problems...All her life she has wanted a mommy and now we find that her mommy is Beelzebub. How sad for a character whose only identity seems to be her victimization.
When Rosenda told Babs the news about Aurora the look on Barbara's face was priceless. Then, as was already pointed out, she immediately went to Artemio's home to take the photo of Lili to further the $3m con of the Elizaldes.I am afraid that even the finer feelings of motherhood cannot redeem Barbara.

Thanks, Jody. Really good and complete recap. Damian is acting like a total jerk. He is so much better with Vladi as his partner than with Fer! Hope she gets her gumption back, but it looks like she's considering caving. Pero no puedes ser. Will she? Won't she? hgr

Great recap, Jodi.

Both our good guys and our bad guys have problems, because some of the members of the teams have conflicting aims. As for the good guys, Gardenia's obsession with Fr/Ed is messing with their plans, but other than that, everyone's pretty much on the same page with their plan (whatever it is).

The bad guys, though, have lots of problems, with Barb now not trusting AB, Damian not trusting Barb, and the Vlad/Pris thing is another thing that could cause trouble. And let's not forget Obregon. I think last night's revelation to Babs that Aurora's her daughter is going to start the little chinks in the bad guy armor, and pretty soon, something good will happen.

And we're actually far past the half way point, as I think this show has 169 total episodes, and we're on 111.

Artemio said at one time, the Elizaldes will not see Liliana again. But last night he said "what am I going to do with you, Liliana Elizalde?" & it wasn't in a mean way. So I don't think he is going to hurt her. And Liliana has had enough already!!!!

I expect Damian to pass out before the 1st commercial tonight.

Great recap Jody...!!!

I agree with those who felt that Pris was very touched by what Vlad had done and the sorrow/anger she felt that her husband couldn't care less about the baby. It resulted in her trashing the nursery and screaming at Vlad.

And the way Dam is drinking, he'll never get to bed Fer. Thank God...!!!

Ann-NYC

Just for last night, I'm not going to fault Barbie for taking the photo of Lili with the paper, etc. Despite being our evil villana, she's in shock over the Aurora news, and needs time to figure out what she is going to do about all that. In the meantime, it is business as usual at the office. What else could she do or say? She may need time to plot her own revenge on AB, which I hope is exquisite.

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaa! You guys are being way too kind to Barbarecca la vibora. She is a sociopath which means she has no conscience which means that any tears she cries are for her own pain--as in the pain of being caught or the pain of what people will think or the pain of how she may have wasted her life, but folks--IT'S ALL ABOUT HER, and none of the tears are tears of remorse or empathy. She slithers from her meltdown with Rosie to taking an objectifying picture of Lili who was institutionalized precisely because of Barbie. This woman has icewater in her veins and no beating heart, so let's not get suckered into feeling sorry for her.

Dona Gringuita

Another possibility: what if the alcohol and the meds render Damian unable to brandish the "scepter of this passion"?

--El pelón

I finished Alborada. If you haven't seen it you should. It was totally awesome.

I don't feel sorry for Babs at all. Those fake tears make me want to scream.

I thought this whole thing with Cadmil-ho and Loafly would be great but I'm just not feeling it so far.

Exquisite revenge by Barb? Oh-yeah Doris, I bet she can do that.

ITA about Pris's response to the nursery and then rage. But Vlad's ethics have not earned him a good woman like Flor. Even after a little jail time he would still be flawed person open to being used by anyone playing into his fantasies.

Anibal - I have not boughtit now or earlier about his cold emotions due to the death of his mother. He just does not care about anybody or thing not related to his business. I think he waves the flag so people don't find out he is just as uncaring as he really feels. He didn't care that his brother beat Erika unconsious or that Cad fell down drunk on the lawn except to tell Prissy to take care of the situation. He cared about where the money would come from for the ransom until Franco said it's on me. I'm not condeming Ad, I just think he is what he is and I don't look for him to grow to being a loving caring person simply because Prissy has a baby.

Thanks Jodi for a real thriller. A lot happened in that episode and I love the way you recapped it. Let's see, where to start? I love both Pricilla and Vlad. Both are such fine actors. Her disgust with him is so real until it's easy to forget that she's acting. Same goes for his stupidy, it's so real. So, I feel bad for her that she can't shake him off and I feel bad for him that he's such a fool. I could have smacked Esteve for flaunting that invitation in front of Fernanda. Love isn't supposed to hurt, but Nanda sure is having her share of hurts including Santiago dumping his Aurora problem on her. This is the second time that Aurora walked out on Santi. If you include the time she walked away from the alter, that makes 3 times. Us viewers know that she really loves him but he (Santiago) doesn't know that. So as far as I'm concerned, he's acting pretty foolish chasing after her. As far as Erika is concerned, it's her shrill voice and giggling that annoys me. Otherwise, I still say she's being led on my Fr'Ed. Afterall, it isn't everyday that a man publicy announces his engagement and then agrees to go forth with the wedding. She has every right to believe that he is a man of his word. In a lot of relationships one partner does more chasing than the other so again, Fr'ed shame on you for toying with this womans feelings.
PS: Would someone tell me what BFF stands for? I've asked several times before. I know it has something to do with best friend, but I don't know what the extra f is for. Thanks

I believe the young teeny bopper girls call it Best Friends Forever.
BFF.

Thanks, Jody, for a great recap.
AhWahWah shows a glimmer of sense, returning to the convent/school for help. Not so much sense in trying to hide behind a nun’s habit, when she really needs some big-girl panties.

As others commented, Pris seemed touched by the nursery setup, but refuses to buy into Vlad’s dream. Poor Vlad is just a hopeless romantic. I don’t think he’d harm Pris, unless he turns evil down the road.

I enjoyed seeing Barbot suffer at Rosenda’s revelation. She can’t count on AhWahWah returning there for help, though. If nothing else, this will gnaw away at Barbie’s brain and keep her distracted from her regular evil work.

Fer was really good portraying her uneasiness, distaste, and distress at Dam’s wonderful wooing. Let’s hope he passes out before things get really rough.
La Paloma

Shril, it's B F Forever :-)

I'm thinkin...why couldn't our funlovin but sensible eSteve take on Erika? In that conversation with her Erika was repeating that Franco is the man of her dreams. Well I was waiting for eSteve to say Oh, what does that mean specifically; what is your dream? Yeah, I think Steve could be a nice match for her.

Besides, they would not have the extra burden that Loafly has of being the manmade woman. Think: did you actually like me before I started dressing like you told me? And I've decided Venus's career after this temp job should be exhibition dancing on maybe ocean liners. She looked gorgeous doing those latin dances with Steve.

Thanks for the great recap, Jody.

I'd like to add to Abora's comments at the convent. She said she wanted to begin her noviciado. So despite the fact that she's madly in love with Santiago our queen of bad judgment has decided to become a nun! I gotta feeling a pregnancy is going to foil this one. Or else the Madre Superiora will intuit that she doesn't really have a vocation and is just fleeing from life.

Kudos to Lucero for an amazing scene with Rosenda. And if there ever were "looks that could kill", she gave them to AB in his office. I didn't think she argued that the child was still alive. She tried to trick him into some admission by asking the supposedly dead child's sex - was it a boy? He said the kid was dead in any case and it didn't matter whether boy or girl. At this point she didn't pursue it, but I'm sure she's plotting something against him after she gets all the money she can out of the Elizaldes.

I was sort of glad Pris exploded at Vladi. It's been coming for a while and she was holding back because Damian threatened her again about exposing who's the real father. He told her she had to play along with Vladi to keep him in line. She may have been touched by the nursery, but her primary emotion is disgust because she doesn't love him and she wants him to STOP thinking they'll be a happy couple and baby makes three.

All in all, it seems like the novela is moving again.

I really like Loafly but her whining gets on my last nerve. The same as Erika and her 15-year old giggling. At least we could see there were no "Hello Kitty" stickers on the invitation.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I have a prediction...the minute that Aurora is esconsed in the nunnery, she’ll faint and we’ll know that she is preggers. She’ll look at a calendar, do a thought bubble about the “first time” with Santi and we’ll know it is his....Wadda think? It will take everyone else months to figure it out!!

This is my last post for a while, we are going on a cruise. I plan to go cold turkey and leave telenovela watching and commenting for my return. Hopefully, on the trip we’ll immerse ourselves in new surroundings and people.

I just hope that I don’t take my newly acquired bad habits with me like.... staring at people to see if they have implants, counting how long other passengers wear their outfits, losing our important papers in a black duffel bag in a closet, telling people that the captain would look better with long hair....dressed as a pirate, distracting our guides with “OFF TOPIC” comments and then complimenting them saying “great recap with lots of snark”, pointing out that an “old dude” has been missing from the cruise for 6 days, and the worst.....boring everyone at dinner with a long detailed account of a gripping novela that I have been watching about the Elizalde family of Mexico, “Franco, actually Eduardo, loves Fernanda. Fernanda used to love Eduardo but now loves Franco, not realizing........”

While I’m gone, “keep hope alive” for Eduardo and Fernanda, continue with your astute observations and comments, selfishly then, when I return, I’ll have a lot of fun watching and reading to do!

Hasta luego,

SANDY IN TN -- Have a great trip! Where are you cruising to?

I just had a thought, since the 'evil one is among us' according to Padre Bosco:

WHAT IF Anibal is Artemio's son by Montserrat? What if they were lovers, she got preggers, but married Gonzo for the name & money? He is the only one of the four children that is devoid of feelings.

Lucera needs to take crying lessons from Navarra. The whole Bruja/Barbie scene was spoiled by her very unrealistic crying (squealing), think nails on the blackboard. Lucera wasn't able pull it off in Alborada either.

I would like to know what ITA stands for. Will someone tell me...???

Sandy - Have a great vacation. Your comments were priceless...!!!
ROTFL...!!!

Jody: Thanks for the recap.

I thought I noticed Damian wipe away the spot where Fer kissed him on the forehead when she left his room.

I also wanted to point out that after FrEd handed his phone to Fernanda, he turned his back to leave and showed us a wonderful glimpse of his well developed shoulders and finely tailored jacket. I couldn't let that go without a comment.

Then, as he waited outside his office, his finely chiseled features reflected warm light and agony from within the depths of his soul. And, I don't ever read love stories either.

ITA means I Totally Agree.

Day 7 for Old Dude Down the Hill?

Connie, isn't Alborada the best? I just love it! And FC is just smoke'n hot with the hair and all...yummy!

Really can't Dam just scare the crap out of Fer by trying to jump her and send her running off to Fr/Ed for comfort whom she "accidentally" falls into bed with? This waiting until the very end is getting old!

¡Buen viaje! Sandy. I'm sure you can catch up quickly on your return.

Molly, it was the best. I don't think there is any comparison.

pasofino, sounds like you could turn out a pretty good novela, you have the terminology down pat & you are oh so right on el guapisimo. suspiros

Ok what was the point of old dude getting kicked down the hill if no one is going to miss him? Find him? Just to show Babs likes to off someone when the mood takes her fancy? Its not like he was in Fer and Fr/Eds way at the spare house! I hate story pieces that dead end.

Once the all realize Babs is evil are the going to find the old guy and compare the shoe imprint in his back just to pin that murder on her too? Ack!

Extra thanks to Jody because I wasn't home last night and missed all the excitement!

So, was it clear whether or not Rosenda knew that Barbie is Rebeca Sanchez? Sorry I missed Barb's meltdown on hearing the news. Congratulations, it's a girl! Did she clutch angrily at her hair?

I was way wrong about AB being angry about Barb's side-scam with Lili. I guess anything goes as long as it upsets Gonzo!

It would seem that Damian's plan to get Fer drunk and seduce her is not going as planned. ;-) If anything, Fer can probably get him to down another glass or two. Variopinta predicted he'll be out by the first commercial. I predict that we'll have to wait till at least halftime, probably later, just because this is the kind of thing they always want us to sweat through!

Any chance Steve put some knockout drops in Camilo's whiskey? Then he could put sleeping Camilo in his dad's car, draw a clown face on him, put his pants on his head, and wheel him out to some super-public place.

Just a suggestion.

Bonney Churros, I think Esteve actually DID like Venus even before her transformation. He started leaving a trail of drool the very moment she showed up at Las Animas.

Bye Sandy - if your bad habits do slack off during the cruise, don't worry - I'm sure we'll get you back in practice in no time!

Doris, I think Anyballs is a good bet to be Bravo's son. In fact, it would even explain his name. Anibal - Artemio Bravo - okay, it's a stretch, but it would be a sneaky and clever way for Montserrat to pay homage to her babydaddy.

I had actually expected Lili to find Macario while she was wandering around (don't know if she was anywhere near him or not). I do wish they'd wrap up his little story. It's not an interesting enough subplot to save for the very end.

Thanks, Connie...

Ann-NYC

Julie, yes please! Steve doing just that to Camilo would be freak'n hilarious!

Oh Julie! I love the way you think!

Sandy have a wonderful cruise. May you have good weather and calm seas. I know I shall miss you. We'll save your place. Carlos

I am so glad Lili did not find the dead guy. Can you imagine?

Molly, can't you just see him with red lipstick on his little cat-butt mouth?

Connie, whatever Camilo's comuppance is, it had better be good!

Buen viaje, Sandy! Don't lose your new bad habits, just keep them to yourself, and you'll be fine.

Doris, I like your plot theory, seems plausible, and works with mine that Gonzo usurped Monte from Arty, but doesn't explain him being so pissed for so many years. From what I saw of her, Arty should have sent Gonzo a condolences card, and himself a beer.

pasofino - I noticed Dam wiping that kiss of his forehead, too, and wondering 'what's up with that?'

Another reason I think Anibal is Artemio B's son: the dark hair. He is the only Elizalde child with dark hair, and AB has dark/black hair (with some gray, of course..)

Connie, how about red lipstick on his little cat butt? Carlos

Ha, Carlos! Now that's funny!

Thanks for the great recap. Jody. Every thing has been pretty well discussed so I really don't have anything new to add except I loved how DDenia stuck her tongue out at Cad's back as she was leaving Las Animas....very cute and funny. GinCA

Sorry all you cats and cat lovers. Make that red lipstick on his little rat butt...sorry all you rats. Carlos

I also noticed Dam wiping the kiss off. He has been escalating in hostility toward Fer ever since he reappeared. When Barbwire orchestrated their re-encounter at that place that looks like it has a monument near it, he was most definitely not pleased that Fernanda didn't jump into his arms with joy upon hearing his name had been cleared. When she didn't let him jump her bones in the hotel room, still not pleased.

Barbwire has been fanning this flame with tales of infidelity with Fr/Ed. Now all he wants is to nail her for spite. His massive ego can't take the rejection. In my opinion, if he ever felt anything for her, it's gone.

Jody, Thanks for the exciting post. It was a great episode.

Pasofino, I think Dam was just disgusted with the little "you are pretending to care for me peck". He wants his mujer en la cama and the real thing.
By the way, feel free to describe Fr/Ed and his finely chiseled features some more. Is it hot in here?

Connie, Speaking of hot--I finished Alborada just before MEPS started. Don't know if you ever looked at any You Tube episodes to fill in, but this first scene is a GOOD one that wasn't on the DVD:

Sadly, Novelera, I think you're right. The honeymoon is over... figuratively speaking, anyway! (He's still waiting for the actual honeymoon to start, and he can wait longer!)

I think it's just a matter of pride on his part that he refuses to rape Fernanda. (I am assuming that there's no sleepytime drops in Fer's champagne. Dam REALLY doesn't strike me as the type who'd enjoy being with an unconscious woman!)

Thank you Jody for the thorough, succinct recap. Hi, guys. I promise not to wish death on Lilli. Yes. She must see the Barbinator invaded by a million minuscule devils with pitchforks which burst forth simultaneously from every orifice and every inch of her skin causing her to dissolve in a quivering, reeking mound of sanguinous, gelatinous, flesh. Ok. She deserves that and more for what she did to her own daughter, Auroraboreallofus, y otras cosas.

No death to Lilli but what is up with the glowing fool Ciro smiling after having aided in her delivery to La Heina? Does that mean that Artie will be the one to bring Barbinator down (as above) and Lilli will be there to witness it?

Having quenched my frustration through the imaginary orgy of blood (as above) I will now go back and read y'alls comments. Thank you.

Khalilah

Sandy in TN!!! Hill-lareeeous, girl!!! Love it! I have been wondering if I should cold turkey-it. We're going to Boston to spend a week with our Daughter to make sure we can recognize her after she graduates from Haaavad. I don't think I'll be able to resist You Tube if not Univision. I called on her back in '06 to help me understand La Fea (she speaks Spanish and Portuguese), my first novela: she got hooked and even though she doesn't have time to watch novelas, being on break I can just see us watching together and giggling like a couple of BFFs! Ayyy. Youz guys are funny!

Khalilah

Khalilah, your gruesome scenario is fine with me. All I ask is that Barbara lose her hair first.

Doris, yah, great theory about Anyballs?! And Julie, LMAO your suggestion for Camilo!

Khalilah

Thanks, Jody! You filled in a couple of things I missed.
========
I believe Estev is really enjoying himself rubbing Eduardo's nose in his rush to marry Errorika. I had a feeling he was purposely trying to fan the flames of jealousy to kick-start Fer and Ed's relationship again and keep Ed from marrying on the rebound. I'll give him a pass for that if that's the case. OTH, the hubster says the guy would be better off marrying into Augustin and Dolly's family and steering clear of the Elizalde clan. Dolly may be dense and Err a real ditz, but the family is relatively normal compared to that disfunctional bunch next door.

Khalilah, you put some pretty funny(and scary) stuff just now. I like the idea of you and your daughter enjoying aTN together and giggling like schoolgirls. I did just that with my grandson last Friday(well I hope we weren't giggling like schoolgirls). It was some nifty bonding. As for my favorite geezer,Ciro. Perhaps there was a very good reason that he was in that nuthouse. Carlos

WoweeWow~~~Some late, great comments. First, about Alborada, I got the abridged dvds and loved it so much that hub bought me the complete set for my birthday. It was worth every cent . So much was cut out. [However, just so you know . There were no additional love scenes cut out. That's right, Luis and Hip were together a total of 3 times including that first time when Luis was the Mystery Boinker of Santa Rita.] It is great. If you haven't watched Amor Real...run do not walk to see it....lots of love AND bathtub scenes in that one. I bought the abridged dvds, and then hub bought the whole set for me for Christmas. It was a very Merry Christmas, indeed. Ho ho ho . Sandy ~~Bon Voyage ! Hub and I went on a cruise with friends the end of June. As we left the ship in Bermuda, my photo was taken with a swarthy , rough and readylooking PIRATE !! That evening the pirate photos were displayed. We found mine, and hub went to pay for it. He called to me, ''Do you want to meet your pirate?'' I walked over to the counter and a 20 year old angelic-looking kid with glasses dressed in a tan suit and staid tie was grinning at me. After I said , ''Your kidding'' about 7 times, the kid struck his best pirate pose....Wow ..talk about a burst bubble. I took his photo. It was the highlight of my trip.I show people the photo of me and my pirate and then show them the photo of the photograph studio guy. Sandy---Maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but the ship probably has an Internet lounge where you could sneak at look at Youtube...I'm just saying. Have a great time. We'll keep a light burning in the window so that you can find your way back to the madness and mayhem.

Oh yes, what I learned on my summer vacation : Things are not always what they appear to be...a valuable lesson.

From what I remember about Montsorette she was a piece of work. If Gonzo did indeed steal her away, you'd think Artemeo would be satisfied that Gonzo got what he deserved.

Hmmm...so the theory is that Gonzo got the girl [Monserret ] that Art loved. Remember Pasion?...same premise. Ric ricric's crazy Tio Timetio was always stabbling a painting of his brother [Ric's father] because he married the girl TimoTim loved..Ric's mother. If I recall correctly, she also was no prize. It must be a matter of sibling rivalry gone wild.

Susanlynn, All the sites I have found for complete telenovelas (pirated I think) do not include subtitles, English or Spanish. I am a long way from being able to understand what is going on without them. (though bath and love scenes with FC need no words because we're speechless). Does your copy have subtitles?
Barbara

Jody, I just stopped in to say hi and wish you well on taking the reins for Wednesday night MEPS. I know you are a comsummate professional and veteran of this site back long before I found it so I know everyone is in the best of hands.

Congratulations on getting break through action, what a fabulous night. I hope the wind will fill our sails and the doldrums are over as predicted by some poster.

It was a night of many unhappy meetings where our characters were all learning things they did NOT want to know. But fun, sooooo much fun. Cheers mis queridos amigos.

Ok, I'll take it to the last step, how about a cat butt on his little lips? eeehueeee!

When Damian wiped his forhead of Fernanda's kiss, I think he was just plenty pissed.

Barbara~~~Nope, the complete sets have no English subtitles. However, Melinama did recaps of Alborada that are on this site. Look to the left of this screen and scroll to the bottom. I'm not sure if she recapped Amor Real.

I'm just trying to figure out Damian's issues from a male perspective and here is what I have from my view point.

Damina is married to
Fernanda and he feels that it is owed to him that Fernanda have sex with him. After all they are husband and wife. He will not rape her because he does not want to be seen as a creepy man. His standing in the family is already tainted by the accusation of him stealing $3 million. The last thing he needs is to be called a rapist. Another thing is he is physically unable to force himself to her because he is still recovering from the gunshot wound to his quad or thigh.

I also believe from the action he has done that he is intellectually arrogant in that he thinks he is smarter than everyone else, though in reality he is not. Because of this, he thinks he can charm his way into Fernanda using his brain to come up with schemes like the champaign and dinner, though getting dressed in a suit a t home is overdone for me.

His frustrations and agressiveness toward her is manifested due to his failing to bed her. How can his ego or any man's ego for that matter handle the fact that you have not had sex with your wife yet after a few months or weeks?

It is realistic to assume this. Of course we as viewers delight inb his miery simply because we do not like him.

That fact that he is married makes it all the much worse for Damian Gallardo. Let's face it, a lot of guys would feel the same way for their girlfriend much less the wife.

As for Anibal, I won't expound on his parentage and simply say that all the kids are Gonzalo's and Montserrat's.... Until further evidence contradicts this.

OFF TOPIC:
A poster named B. from the TN site went into detail on how a telenovela is made from the Betty La Fea thread. Feel free to read through this detailed explanation. Those who are not interested may skip it altogether. This is quite long...

I'll post it in the following post since it does not fit here.

Ibarramedia

most novelas start production two to three months prior to debuting on-air, to give the cast AND CREW a chance to get a feel for the characters, the story, the shooting style, the pace of the story, getting into costume / makeup / hair, etc (if people have to learn any special skills, like horseback riding or something, that's usually done in pre-production). by the time the novela debuts on-air, they usually have several weeks if not a month or more worth of episodes already shot and waiting to go. then, as the novela starts to air and production continues, the gap between where the production is in the story and what the viewers are seeing closes to something in the region of 2-3 weeks (or possibly more if there are special effects involved), and things generally stay like that for most if not all of the rest of the production. some novelas --particularly if they have been extended-- find the gap between production and air closes even more as the story gets to the final episodes. and there is also a significant difference between shooting something that is a half-hour daily (as BLF was in Colombia for its entire run) versus an hour daily (as are pretty much all of Telemundo's novelas).

in the case of Betty La Fea in particular, the gap between an episode shooting and it going on the air was VERY small for the final weeks of production for several reasons, most of them having to do with the extreme popularity of the show and trying to avoid leaks about upcoming plot points. this novela had RABID fans all around the world, and they were hungry for ANYTHING related to the show, with the result that the cast and crew had an increasingly difficult time keeping a lid on details about upcoming episodes. one way to try to minimize this was to keep the gap small.

also, the popularity of the show once it started to air --not just in Colombia but worldwide-- put a lot of strain on all the principals as requests for interviews, etc, from media in other countries increased. extending the show only added to the strain, on the whole cast and crew. the novela went into production in mid-late 1999 and debuted in Colombia near the end of that year as a half-hour show. it debuted here on Telemundo as an hour-long show in August 2000. by the time Telemundo was forced to cut their own broadcast to a half-hour as well (early March 2001) --over screams of protest from viewers-- the cast and crew had been working on the show almost non-stop for nearly a year and a half. people who had made personal and/or professional commitments for after production was originally meant to end in early 2001 had had to postpone or outright cancel them (AMO nearly got sued, in fact, when she had to back out of a contract to star in another novela). when Telemundo cut back to half-hours (just over two months before the finale), their broadcasts, once months behind the Colombian originals, were by then just a little over five hours behind (or about two weeks worth of half-hour eps), a dangerously small gap considering RCN was by then being pretty liberal about pre-emptions in Colombia in an attempt to give the cast and crew a break and to keep the show on the air longer.

Ibarramedia

Susanlynn, sorry to bug you. But did the telenovelas have spanish subtitles? Barbara

Wow! thanks Ibarramedia for posting the information. Very interesting.

susanlynn -- if you want heat and passion, you need to check out a complete copy of the mexican version of "Pasion". Whoa, Nelly! there's some x-rated stuff at the end of that between Rico and Cami. just saying.

sandy -- have a wonderful cruise. Buen viaje!

oh, folks, you don't know how much my tongue hurts because I have to bite it so hard not to reveal any advances here. i'll only say, have patience and enjoy the roller coaster ride.

Shirl -- sorry about that. yes, BFF is short for best friends forever.

Jody :)

Jody, where'd you get the Mexican version of Pasion from? (Could use a little novela-x right now)

Khalilah
