MEPS, Thursday, August 20, 2009, My Enemy is Now My Friend

Good morning, readers. This was a chapter where truth once again surfaces in the twisted lives of the Elizalde family. I’ll try to post the recap to the sidebar later. If anyone will do it in the meantime, thanks.

Flor admonishes Gardenia to tell the truth, no matter what. Gardenia tells a shocked Flor that Fer saw her kissing Franco.

Santi, angry and hurt, tells his tale about Aurora to Fer. She tells him not to believe the Hyena because she is capable of anything. Finally, she tells him that Barb had Lili committed and that Barb killed their mother.

Franco tells Artemio that he is concerned for Lili’s well being (bienstar). AB assures him she is well and that he can confirm it with his own eyes, but with conditions. You have to know and understand that Lili will only leave when she wants to or when I am dead. He tells Franco that Lili is not a prisoner in his house. Franco reminds him about her confinement in the loony bin. Artemio emphasizes that no one is obligated to be in his house, not even you, Franco.

Santi is now jumping out of his skin. Fer tells him of the tape evidence and that it is not conclusive. Now that you know the truth Barb has to get what she deserves. Fer makes him sit down. Barb cannot suspect that they know the truth. It is too much for Santi’s little head. He now begins to see the light. Fer emphasizes that Barb had everything to do with Aurora’s leaving the house. He finally agrees and admits that he jumped to conclusions. He knows he was the first love in her life. Surely Barb engineered the whole fracas says Fer. She gained Aurora’s confidence in order to sully (enlodar) your image. Santi says she is involved in a web of lies. Fer says she is eating them alive and that they can’t say anything to her face.

Flor gets on Gardenia for telling falsehoods. Gardenia says you don’t know anything. Gardenia admits it wasn’t as it appeared. Why should I tell you, she asks. Flor doesn’t know how to help her. Gardenia admits that she kissed him. Flor says tell the truth and the problem will be over. Gardenia says it’s worse, and as she is explaining, enter the super who makes Flor leave to answer the phones. Flor orders Gardenia not to leave until she tells her the truth.

Now you know why we have to keep our mouths shut. Go to Aurora, you deserve to be happy. We can’t raise suspicion in Barbara. She says I am not alone that she can count on Franco. She also tells him that Barb is surely involved in Lili’s disappearance and that she was Damian’s accomplice in the theft.

Pris keeps yelling at Vlad who finally leaves the bedroom. He claims he cannot find the letter. She says, you don’t have a letter, it’s something you invented to get me here. She tries to leave. The phone rings. It’s Anibal. Vlad says he wants to talk about his severance. Pris is angry that Anibal will see her in Vlad’s apartment. Vlad says calm down. I’ll tell him about the baby’s horoscope. I think that’s what he said.

Artemio leads Franco and Barb into a room where Lili is waiting. Lili is looking out the window when Artemio tells Lili that she has visitors. Lili turns around and smiles at Franco. Artemio wants to know if she likes the surprise. Franco breaks the ice and asks her how she is. Artemio asks her if she knows this man. Lili says, yes, I know who you are. Mystery music plays in the background.

Don’t tell me you know this gentleman. Yes, she says. He is … and Ed breaks in and says “Franco Santoro,” a friend of the family. She looks crestfallen. They smile and Artemio looks puzzled.

Fer relates the tale of the estafa (swindling) of Sra. Villasana and Damian’s involvement. Damian was found guilty. Remember the three million Grupo Lactos’ money that seemed to disappear – the exact amount that Barb was going to give to Damian. They are now connecting the dots. God knows what lies hidden, says Santi. Fer says more. But it deals with Daddy. He is going to give his fortune to Barb. You remember when Lili attacked Barb at the dinner. They prattle on and Fer tells him to go find Aurora.

Dumb ass Vlad is supposedly looking for the letter. You’re an imbecile, she says. You don’t think I want problems with Anibal. The letter, she says. He hands her a folder. I’m not stupid. Where is my brother’s letter. She grabs him by the ear. He wants to explain. He is saved by Anibal banging on the door. Pris is upset. Ani wants to know what Pris is doing here.

Artemio says as you can see Lili is in good condition. But what grabs my attention, Mr. Santoro, where does your interest in her come from. Franco says he doesn’t have any great interest other than it’s effect on his business relationship with Lactos. AB says this is not a disappearance. She doesn’t want to live with her father nor does she want freedom. The problem is that her family doesn’t have any idea where she is, says Franco. You know full well they set her apart from their life more than fifteen years ago, retorts Artemio. Tell me honestly what is your great interest in the Elilzalde family.

Vlad tries to explain to Ani that he has an astrological chart for their baby. Ani says why didn’t you send it – you’ve been fired. Pris tries to save it by showing Ani the chart. Ani doesn’t doubt it’s an astrological chart. September 2 – the date of birth of the child – it’s a farce because the year of birth is 1976. Pris tries to leave, but Ani makes her stay and says you know what is going on.

Franco claims that the real interested party is Steve Norton. Steve is the son of the owner of Power Milk. Franco isn’t completely sure of Steve’s interest. Franco says he’s Steve’s front man. Artemio tells Barb they have to check this out. Artemio says that it would give him great pleasure if Franco was not interested in helping the Elizalde family. What job do you have in mind? Artemio says knocking the Elizaldes out of the market. Franco says that’s the objective of Power Milk. He and Barb can do the job together. Franco doesn’t want to risk anything as to Lili. What else do you need. She’s here of her own free will. Clever Franco tells Artemio that he wants to talk to Lili alone.

Lovely has changed out of her pink parachute and is dressed in a coat of pink and green over shorts, she knocks on the door and Cami opens it. She tells him that she had a fight with her uncle – about being Cami’s wife. The only important thing is to be with him. As his wife she can do anything.

Ani says to a sitting Pris and a standing Vlad that they will talk the truth. He takes an envelope out of his jacket pocket and tells her to open it. What is it, she asks. He wants her to see for herself. He tells her to read it out loud. She begins to cry and wants to know where he is going with this. He says the paper is complete – I’m sterile.

Camilo wants to know the secret between the two women. She says it’s not a good idea to talk now. She’ll tell him when she is his wife. She helps him remove his jacket. They are going to make up their own secret. Cam wants to know what she’s hiding. Blues music plays in the background. She has what appears to be a scissors in her hand. Cami is alarmed. She begins to cut his shirt sleeve and nicks him a bit. He likes it. He’s going to congratulate her teacher. She has his sleeves loose and now goes up the shoulders and rips the rest of the shirt off him. He now helps and grabs her and they kiss and hug. Is she getting into this – oops, no, she pushes him down and unbuttons her coat revealing a pink bra, shorts and boots. Venus slithers over toward Cami. At the same time, Steve is having a nightmare. By mental telepathy, Venus feels it and like Eve, she feels shame. Cam wants the whole show. She pushes him away. I can’t, I just can’t she says and picks her stuff up and runs out the door. Cami is completely frustrated and says, “you’ll pay for this.”

Lili is seated at the chess table when Franco enters the room. He says, thanks Lili. These people don’t know who I am. He warns her that this man is responsible for her mother’s death. Lili one ups him and tells Franco that Artemio is Ana Gregoria’s son. She says it’s all written down. Look In the drawer. She tells him to get the diary. There is the whole truth. He begins to turn the pages. Franco looks shocked as he reads. She checks out the hallway and tells him no one is coming.

Fer asks for Flor. Gardenia doesn’t know. She needs her to take notes at a meeting in the morning. Flor returns and Gardenia tells her that she doesn’t have to come to work tomorrow. Flor says something terrible is going to happen. Editor: Frankly, I didn’t get the point of this gibberish.

Franco reads and finds out about Ana and Jeronimo Elizalde. Franco pretends to say to Lili that it must be terrible for her especially not to be with her family. For Artemio’s sake she says her family doesn’t mean anything to her. Franco says he’s glad to see she’s well, and Lili says goodbye to Franco Santoro, but in a halting manner. She picks up a chess piece and looks happy.

The crazy conversation between Flor and Gardenia continues. Flor tells Gardenia to keep her mouth shut. Imagine that Franco Santoro is not Franco Santoro. Who is he? asks Flor. Gardenia lets it out – remember Ed. Gardenia tells Flor that Franco is Eduardo Juarez. Flor nearly faints.

Barb asks Franco if everything is OK. He says, yes. Artemio then asks about their business. Franco and he get in a discussion about Lili’s future and that she can’t stay locked up forever. Franco wants to be in charge of her in order to continue their business. He wants the freedom to visit Lili alone. Artemio agrees and says that is not a condition, but a pleasure. They shake on it.

Ani burns the letter in Vlad’s ashtray as Pris looks on in tears. Therefore, Pris, if I am sterile, how did you get pregnant. She wants to talk to him privately. Why can’t we talk in front of Vlad. You recommended him as a financial advisor. Please, she begs. Ani will not be stopped. He wants an explanation. I want you to hear what Vlad has to say. Why did you say the child is yours?

At Pueblo Purificacion there is a knock on Aurora’s door. A nun enters and tells her that Santi (she said a blonde man) is there and is with the Mother Superior and wants to see her. He tells MS that he unjustly insulted Aurora and wants to apologize. She says that he deserves the right to apologize. Madre agrees that in love anything is possible. He wants to know if Aurora will see him. A knock at the door and Aurora enters. Madre leaves them alone to talk.

Vlad says when they finished making love, Pris put her legs over her head. He later found that it is a position that women use to become pregnant. Ani wants to know if he knew he was sterile. Vlad says, no – he found out by accident. Then it was you who made her pregnant. The real father of your child is Vladimir. Pris says, “yes,” Vlad looks relieved.

Avances: We see Fer throw a negligee at Damian and Franco tells Steve that Fer must never find out? What? I don’t know.

Thanks, Pasofino, for another great recap. I, too, am sometimes confused when Flor and Gardenia blabber on and on and can you say "overacting" here?

I was surprised to see Fer wearing Dam's "peace offering" bracelet in the scene where she and Santi are in her office - why, why, why would she wear it after all she knows about him and their separation?

I never thought I would see Vladi putting his beloved "Gordita" in such a situation with Anibal but I guess he is gullible enough to believe Anibal will carry through with his word.

Needing a beanie adjustment...

What in gawd's green earth is going on? So many silly plots at once. The Franco/Babs conspiracy against AB, the Franco/Babs/Ab conspiracy against los Elizalde, the Any?balls/Vlad agreement, the Any?/Pris/Vlad confrontation, the Franco/Fer/and now Santi conspiracy against Babs- must be more, my head is spinning.

I'm still a supporter of Gardebia, despite letting the cat out of the bag to Flor. They are setting her up to really mess things up, so that she can do some redeeming, maybe even heroic act before it's over. She is going to be crucial in the outcome.

Gotta run...

Thanks, Paso, great trecap...

MEPS in Az: Yes, please say "overacting." That's a great description fitting both Flor and Gardenia.

I didn't notice the bracelet. Screen too small; eyes, too bad.

Dave: You're right. There are so many plots and subplots going on at the same time, it's hard to keep up with them. Artemio Bravo is still an enigma. We know he's bad, but Franco Santoro is his new partner. Que the Hell? Of course, there had to be some good reason for Franco to visit him.

Great recap Pasofino. This episode was a bit busy, wasn't it? I'm feeling sorry for poor Flor. Although she seems to enjoy knowing all the gossip, I think at the moment she's wishing that she didn't know now what she didn't know then. I'm afraid that her curious little head is about to explode.

Didn't Gardenia look beautiful in the prolonged closeup of her face? She is so gosh-darned pretty.

Sandy and Alice, thanks for your understanding. I truly believe that DD is going to turn out being very noble before this is over.

Carlos

Pasofino, thank you for the wonderful recap.

Pris seems quite intelligent and it was a stretch to believe she honestly thought Ani had changed, let alone they'd be living with the baby happily ever after. Vlad was never going to leave the picture voluntarily and Ani's sudden change of heart was completely out of character. Still, I felt terrible for her. If Vlad truly loved her, he would never have put her in that position. He has always put what he wants above what Pris wants. And Ani is just a monster.

Now that Gardenia has spoken (yet again), who will tell Fer that Franco is Eduardo, her or Flor? That revelation will be terribly painful for Fer, even more so coming from someone else.

Diana in MA

Thanks, Pasofino. I missed a lot of the dialogue at AB's mansion and between DDenia and Flor, but you filled me in.

It's getting to be intrigue upon intrigue and even double intrigue in spots. Exciting. If this were a book, it would be called a page turner right now! Can't wait for the next capitulo.

How is Fer going to use her knowledge about Dam's past and connection with Babs and when is she going to use it? Will she start any of that confrontation tonight at the hotel?

So glad Fr/Ed will be getting access to Lili. Now more intrigue is possible.

Thanks, Pasofina. I think that loyal Flor will be the one to eventually tell Fer that Franco is really Eduardo. Gardenia [sorry Carlos] is just too immature and selfish to give up her own pulsating, throbbing obsession with Ed and let Fer know that Franco is in reality her puppylover and that he still loves her. That scene between Cad and Loafly made my skin crawl. Bleeeccchhh. I can't stand when Cad moans OY-YI-YI-YI...I feel the urge to jump into the shower and exfoliate. ...and what was up with Loafly slitting Cad's sleeves. Was that supposed to be sexy ??? To my pragmatic mind , it was just wasteful...Why ruin an expensive dress shirt ? p.s. Love this word identification : rapsizzl

Susanlynn, I also found the scene between Lovely and Camilo cringe and almost nausea inducing.I guess the shirt sacrifice was supposed to be sexy but I also saw it as a needless waste. Maybe just cutting the buttons off would have sufficed. When I used to work in the ER it always bothered me a bit to see how eagerly the nurses cut away perfectly good bluejeans or shirts from accident victims with their ever at the ready trusty scissors.

Thank you for the recap, Pasofino. Quite a bit of action in one hour!

I’ve missed several episodes over the past couple weeks. Why is Lili adamant about staying? Did Babs threaten to kill Gonzo if Lili ever decided to leave Artemio’s house?

Did you notice that Lili’s bedroom doors are half glass, and no curtains? Que the ****? Didn’t AB ever hear of privacy? I wouldn’t be able to sleep. Eeew. That is just wrong.

Yep. Industrial strength duct tape should have been placed over DDenia’s mouth a looong time ago. Telegraph, telephone, teleGardenia. She does have a pretty face, but the clips on her hair extensions were showing last night.

WHAT WAS UP with that scissors scene? All I could think was, 'that's probably a $200 shirt she's cutting up! What a waste.'

Great recap, Pasofino!

I wonder if "rubio" (blond, as the nun referred to Santi) can also mean someone with blue eyes? Does anyone know the colloquial usage?

Jane

Wow wow we......... my head hurts.....it seems all the open plots are now coming to a close and all at once everyone is putting 2 and 2 together......I feel so sad for Priscilla.... all she wanted was a baby and she chose a luney tune for the father......dosen't Vlad know that by doing this to her.....she is going to hate him for the rest of her life.....I would.....Anibal has no compassion for her or love.....i wonder how much longer everyone will go on knowing what Barbie did and not do anything about it...........damian will be going to jail probably with Fernandas help.....just to get rid of him....he will have his luna de mel alright..........thanks Pasofino for the recap...

Pasofino, greap recap--thanks! HGR--I love the bib...is that your granddaughter? I agree that Denia will be vital to the outcome. And yes, Carlos, I was noticing how beautiful she is, in that close up. no one else would look good in the uniform she was wearing. Susanlynne, I,too, thought Venus was ruining a perfectly good
Doris, you come up with the funniest phrases--teleGardenia. i hope we get to see more of Lili, who is more sane than she appears, I think.

LR

Carlos~~~Your post gave me a flasback to an emergency room and nurses cutting off mi ropa after a car accident in which I was thrown out of the car. Then , I heard the word ''operation''...yikes. The operation was just a few stitches to close a cut lip. Anyway, it was muy freaky when Cad morphed into Tio Estif in Loafly's mind. I can't believe that Cad actually let Loafly put that little wraparound dress back on and leave. He is used to getting what he wants, and Loafly has been teasing him relentlessly for quite a while.

Jane: In my experience "rubio" means fair - fair skin, light hair, light-colored eyes.

Thanks for the great recap, Pasofino.

I live for the scenes when they show TBLMOE being intelligent. I think this is when we see FC's real self come through, as we've seen him occasionally on Cristina. He's smart, funny, and quick witted. When he moved toward Lili saying his false name, when he verbally fenced with AB, convincing him that he also wants to, at least financially, hurt the Elizaldes. What he told AB, which sounded exactly like what an ambitious executive would say, was that he didn't want to be involved in a kidnapping. Unfortunately we see too many scenes of FC with Esteve where he's dazed and confused!

I now think Cad is as likely to get some from Venus as Damnian is from Fer! And, please, Viewerville: any of you ever experienced foreplay involving cutting off your clothes with a scizzors? Maybe I've led a sheltered life.

One part of the rather difficult to understand conversation with Gardenia and Flor consisted of Flor saying that everyone was out (presumably the executives) so that Flor could finally find out the secret. Gardenia's response was that now they could book out of there and go to the movies. Somehow I don't think DDenia is moving up the career ladder at Grupo Lactos. She hasn't yet figured out the phone system.

I don't really mind DDenia telling Flor. If there's one sensible person in this TN, it's Flor.

I have NO confidence that Santi and Aurora are going to go off together. She's going to blubber and thought bubble and not tell him she's pregnant, I'm almost positive.

Pasofino, excellent recap.

Doris, I don't think anyone can really explain why Lili wants to stay with AB. He's been nice to her, he reminds her of her Dad, and he gave her a diary. That's about it. I don't think there were any threats. She's also been having a lot of interaction with Ciro's ghost. Remember, he's the one who led her out of the house Ed provided for her. So really, it doesn't make much sense. Fortunately the rest of this novela is crystal clear. Not!

It seems like Lili feels like she has a purpose being with AB. She's finding out truths that no one else knows and she realizes that. I think she also senses that AB won't hurt her, which he hasn't. She's not being drugged, so it's no different that when she lived in the house Fr/Ed provided, other than she doesn't have Martina, Venus and Fernanda to hang out with. But she does have Ciro and Ana Gregoria via the diary.

-Vivi in DC

Carlos: You are very compassionate. To be Flor is another nitwit.

Diana: I really wanted Anibal to have a change of heart. He probably has something else up his sleeve now that he's forced Vlad and Ptis to confess.

HGR: Good question. Fer seems to have quite a bit of knowledge about most of the main players - yet she remains clueless when it comes to Franco. I guess love is blind.

Susanlynn: "Exfoliate" when you watch Cad made me cringe.

Doris: I don't think we're sure that Lily is adamant about anything. That's what AB said, and it could be another rumor he's set out to float.

LR: Cutting off Cam's shirt? Just stupid.

Novelera: Thanks for clearing up the Flor/Gardenia dialog.

Thanks Pasofino! What a busy episode!

I think that Lilliana doesn't want to go back to her family because Barbara threatened to kill her father and her brothers. Maybe Lilliana figures if she stays away Evil Barbie will let them live.

I agree with Novelera, I don't think we're done with the Curls & Sniffles show yet (sigh). I'll bet anything Evil Barbie grabs Awah-wah and makes a run for it. Then we'll see yet more sobbing from the both of them.

Camilho is just sleazy. Uck! Uck! Uck! All he needs is a shirt open to the waist and a big gold chain to be every woman's bad dream. I could really do without the slut & sluttier part of this TN. It adds nothing to the storyline. They both make my skin crawl. And seeing Esteve shirtless... well, that's just unnecessary. If it isn't FC, the shirts should just stay on, thank you anyway.

Happy Friday everyone! I haven't had a chance to read comments but I did read the recap. Thanks for that Pasofino. The scene with Camiiiii and Loafly was disturbing. I told you Cam would get mad...He's about ready to blow up and it's not going to be pretty. The next time she does it she will either be raped or end up with a black eye. I sure hope not though.

Pasofino, thanks for another fine recap.

The best part last night, for me, was the sweet smile F C gave to Lili. GinCA

BN, you quietly zinged it right in, didn't you?:

.damian will be going to jail probably with Fernandas help.....just to get rid of him....he will have his luna de m(i)el alright.

Good one.

Carlos

Yeah Carlos, with his girlfriend Bubba!

I'd like to express my confusion about Anibal's plan. I thought from the conversation he had with Vlad (where was that? rape forest by day?) that he was going to play along as doting daddy to be and then hand off the football (er...baby) to Vlad and divorce Pris. Pris would then, hopefully, fall into Vlad's waiting arms.

But no. He springs the whole esteril letter right away.

Vlad chimes right in, revealing his gordita as an adulteress. I suppose we'll find out more about their way forward tonight, but that was a pretty ghastly scene. If I were Pris, I'd pack my bag and leave all these losers behind.

LR--yes, that extremely cute BoSox fan es mi nieta.

Novelera--agree that it's great when we get to see FC acting at his intelligent best as in his scene with AB, instead of acting like a confused doofus as in some of his scenes w/ Esteve.

Xlntperuvian--you're so right about Esteve shirtless in bed, no treat at all. Then when we see TBLMOE at bedtime, he's in his grandpa jammies! Not fair. Once again, wardrobe folks fail us.

GinCa-- the smile between Lili and Fr/Ed was the sweetest. Got the sense they were so pleased to see each other.

It doesn't appear that Fr/Ed was cognizant at all that AB looked like Gonzo. Santi, Lil, Aurora were amazed at the resemblance.

I'm so glad Barb's dirty dealings are starting to come to light. And I can't wait for Fernanda to give Damian his walking papers tonight. I just hope she doesn't back down when he starts his staccato yelling and throwing of things.

Why are the only couples who appear to really love each other and have pretty normal relationships Margarita and Jacinto, and Dolly and whatever her husband's name is?

And if Venus is frustrated with Steve's lack of responsiveness and seeming caring for her, that vision of him might have cured her! What a choice - orange head or orange face - yikes! Poor girl!

xlntperuvian: Good snark. You should recap.

Anon. I thought Franco would recognize AB's similarity to Gonzo, too. He and Fernanda are meant for each other.

Pasofino, thanks for the great recap.
Loafly’s pink parachute—perfect description. I was hoping she was going to stab Caaaami with those scissors. Que the heck? Cutting of a shirt to turn him on??
Pris was so good as a desperate woman who has been caught in her deception.
Ok, so DDenia told Flor who Franco really is. And Flor is Fer’s newly-named confidante. So there’s only one degree of separation (?), a very flimsy one, between Fer and Ed as his true self.
Did the nun say that Santi had blonde curls and the face of a cherub?
La Paloma

Thanks Pasofino. Loved your recap. Enough already of Venus's alternating between seductress and naive inexperience. It's so unreal. No way would a man like Cami stand for all that teasing. If she ever does cry rape, I just hope Cami doesn't have a hidden camera in his house showing all her whinning and teasing.
Then there's Santi, who acts like a wild man when he's angry or upset. Banging on the doors of the convent and the way he was right in the nuns face when he was first inquireing about Aurora. Continuously showing the white of his eyes is hysteria overdone.
Well we know that Fer is indeed going to the hotel. But as someone said the othernight, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Franco just happens to see he going in.
Thanks for the clarification of what Gardenia was saying. I didn't understand any of it.
I agree with whoever said Flor needs new glasses. She also needs to relax a bit more. It's annoying to see grown people belittleing themselves by showing how inferior they feel in the presence of authority.
Question: Did Pris's brother really write Vlad a letter or was that part of the set-up?

Thank you, Pasofino! I would love to recap but since I don't speak or understand spanish (very little at most) my recaps would consist of "Gardenia talked so fast the wind from her lips blew Santi's wig off. I have no idea what Gardenia said, but Santi makes a great Kojak joven." :)

Alice, I think the letter was just a ploy to get Pris to show up; i.e. her brother is still in the dark about the paternity issue. Vlad isn't the world's best poker face, so if he wasn't expecting Anibal, we'd have known it. This whole thing is Anibal's plan, although I can't see where he's going with it.

Damn Natasha left before Lofley arrived. I think the writers missed a goldne opportunity there.

Franco lifted that glass many times, it made him look nervous, although I doubt he drank any of it. Remember he & Babs in a couple of scenes, he ordered the drink but never touched it.

Somehow Artemio doesn't seem so menacing now, but he is the cause of one murder and other attempts.

Pasofino: I really enjoyed your take on things in this recap. I posted it for you also.

Cadmilo morphing into Estev was more than my tummy could take. Blech. He's a talented actor, but he's just soooo homely for even a secondary galan.

I was thinking/hoping? that Venus would use the shirt sleeves to tie the stupid jerk to the bed and leave him there, especially since he'd just fooled around with Natasha there a little bit before!!

Variopinta: Yep. We cannot forget that Artie is lying through his teeth about his sympathies for Lili's encarceration these past fifteen years, or the fact he threatened Lili with never leaving his house again.
