Mañana es Para Siempre, Tuesday, September 22--Ep #150: Do you take this woman? And if so, why?

So, Aurora knows who her daddy is and she won't leave without meeting him and talking to him first.

Santi and his pimp argue about Santi seeing Aurora. Pimp!Fer thinks Aurora is fine where she is. Santi feels bad about all the hurt he caused Aurora. But Pimp!Fer says they'll be together soon and watch their baby grow up together.

Barbie is agitated, she wants Aurora to let Barbie take care of her. Aurora says she hasn't taken it all in yet. Barbie just wants her to run away with her to someplace nice to live together. Aurora says she realizes that Barbie is a victim, but she (Aurora) never had anything, and now all of a sudden she has a Mom and it turns out it's her dad who ruined both their lives. "Well, of course I'm not just going to say 'yes, Mom, I'll go with you'!" Barbie says they don't have time and they have to leave ASAP. Aurora refuses, loudly, and the Madre Superior comes in and throws Barbie out, saying enough is enough for today. Aurora asks Barbie to tell "that man" that she wants to talk to him. Barbie grabs Aurora's hand on the way out, but leaves without saying anything. MS tells the other Sister to walk Barbie to the door. Aurora cries.

Gardenia comes back to Grupo Lactos. Flor wonders where she was, but Gardenia lies and says she went to the pharmacy.

Franco tells Esteve, Venus, and Martina that he's getting married on Saturday. The gals wish him the best, they hope he'll be happy in his marriage, etc. Have they not been paying attention? He asks them all for a favor, the final favor. He's leaving Las Animas on Tuesday, so Martina won't have a job anymore, but he's setting up a bank account for her so that she and Silvestre will be taken care of, she can get her nursing degree, etc. Martina thanks him, but Franco says it's the least he can do. He asks Venus to leave with Esteve on Tuesday and go to New York and tells her they're going to be the happiest couple ever. Franco says on Monday night, it's all over. Martina asks what he's doing, but Franco says it doesn't matter, he just wants them to know that he's deeply grateful for their loyalty and everything they've done for him. Martina and Venus look worried.

Flor didn't buy the pharmacy story and hassles Gardenia for an explanation. She's worried about what Gardenia might have been out doing. Gardenia says she spilled all the frijoles to Erika…well, only the frijoles about Fer and Franco having a thing. And she justifies doing this because Franco doesn't even love Erika. Gardenia shares the shock of hearing Erika say that she's marrying Franco no matter what. But Gardenia plans to go to the wedding and scream out the truth for everyone to hear. Fer, wandering into the kitchen, wonders what truth that would be. And who can deny a truth to a woman in a pimp hat?

Barbie cries about not wanting to do what Aurora asks or she'll lose her forever. She just keeps sobbing "my daughter, my daughter…."

Aurora has dinner with the nuns. She tells the MS and Sister H that she always knew she'd found her mom as soon as she met Barbie, but she thought she was being stupid--how could a woman like that be her mother? She always thought finding her mom would be the happiest moment of her life, but then she lost hope. And then she heard Barbie's story, which is way worse than hers. Aurora says she can't hate Barbie, but she doesn't believe her either. She doesn't know what she'll do with her life.

Pimp!Fer will not be denied and keeps asking Gardenia "What truth?" Gardenia laments opening her mouth. Fer has been so good to her and here she's involving Fer in gossip. She runs off, saying she just can't tell. Flor makes excuses, but eventually caves and says that Gardenia told Erika that Fer and Franco are in love. Pimp!Fer is impactada.

We get a shot of a cloudy sky…stock footage to indicate some time has passed. Or, in the case of this show, time for a wardrobe change. Fer knocks on the door of Las Animas, sans hat. I'm almost sorry about that…with no hat, how am I supposed to mock? Oh, well, I can only hope the wardrobe department has done as crappy a job of dressing her as ever. Franco, freshly sweaty from a workout, invites her in. Fer says she has to tell him something important. He wants her to calm down first (and if this were earlier days, he would have spent a half hour on that and she wouldn't have gotten her news out until next week). She tells him they've got a problem and asks if he's talked to Erika. He has. Fer tells him that Gardenia told Erika that they (Fer and Franco) are in love.

Gardenia is happy. A little too happy. She eats breakfast with Jacinto and Margie and says she's happy because she's going to enroll in school. Soon she'll be a "muchilingue" secretary. Jacinto and Margie crack up laughing (bilingue = bilingual; muchilingue = many-lingual, and no, that's not a proper word). Flor comes over for breakfast. She yells at Gardenia for being a coward and tells Jacinto and Margie what Gardenia did. And that's not all, now Fer knows. Gardenia tries to blame Flor for ratting her out. Jacinto hurts himself yelling at Gardenia. Even Margie joins in, screaming "When are you going to learn to shut your mouth!" Gardenia leaves. Flor tells them that the wedding is still on. Jacinto wonders if Erika also knows about Franco's real identity, but she doesn't, as far as Flor knows. Margie surmises that Gardenia is saving that little nugget of intel for Fer.

Fer and Franco discuss the trouble they're in. Did Erika believe Gardenia? Franco calls her to find out. She babbles slightly less first thing in the morning, but is her usual gushy self. Franco says he'll talk to her later, hangs up, and tells Fer that from the way Erika talked to him, he doesn't think she believed Gardenia. Fer says if she were Erika she'd also be pretending she didn't believe it and she wouldn't confront him…not him. Franco doesn't know what to make of that.

Barbie stares at Gonzo while he eats breakfast and says he couldn't sleep all night for thinking about Camilo. Barbie is thinking about Aurora. Tomasa comes in to tell them that Comandante Lozoya is here to see Barbie. Barbie wants to see him in the library, but Gonzo overrides her and says they'll see him in the dining room. Barbie says Lozoya is there about Macario and breaks the news to Gonzo that he's dead and they found the body. Tomasa serves Lozoya coffee. Tomasa hadn't heard about the death and is briefly impactada. Lozoya says he died as a result of trauma incurred in the fall and no one knows why he was there. Barbie again offers to pay for the burial, but Lozoya says that the body has been given to the family. Tomasa asks what's going to happen with Rocia, the granddaughter, but her aunt and uncle have taken her to Veracruz. Lozoya just came over to update them. Tomasa can't take it anymore and runs off to the kitchen to cry. Barbie thought bubbles that this is one less problem.

Fer explains how Erika is actually behaving intelligently. There's no reason to hassle Franco since Franco is going to marry her and Fer isn't going to try to break it up. Fer thinks that Erika probably thinks that the thing with her and Franco was an accident. Franco tells her that it's no accident, he loves her intensely, desperately, like a condemned man loves life.

Speaking of…Damian buys a soda at the jail snack shack. And who should be running the snack shack but our old friend Lucio! He reminds Dam who he is and asks why he's there. Damian asks how long Lucio has been there. Lucio says he's getting out soon for good behavior. Dam wonders what he did. Lucio says that Barbie gave him some jewelry to sell and then turned him in for stealing it. Damian tells him that Barbie doesn't just do stuff like that without a reason and wonders what Lucio knows that makes him dangerous to Barbie. Lucio says he knew too much, about a lot of things…like that Dam and Barbie were sleeping together, for instance. Lucio laughs and laughs, saying that Barbie really got him, yes sir, and he wouldn't be at all surprised if one day Gonzo ends up in jail courtesy of Barbie.

Franco tells Fer that he's going to be out of her life soon, but first he'll save Lili. Then he'll try to live with Erika and learn to love her. But he doesn't want to leave without telling Fer that being near her has been enough for him to fall in love with her. He knows this is their destiny, for him to know she exists, but he can't reach her. Although, right now, he wants to just indulge himself, even if he's going to have to come back to reality soon. He tells her he loves her and he asks her to let him say goodbye…. "Goodbye?" She asks. "Yes, goodbye forever." He plants a big 'ol kiss on her. And she reciprocates. And Erika doesn't come knocking on the door. Still going with the kissing. Still no Erika. And we fade directly to….

The church! And the wedding march! And a caption that reads "a few days have passed." Seriously? Don't they usually give us more warning when a wedding is coming up? The nice "You are cordially invited" at the beginning of the episode? But here we are. There's a string quartet playing rather screechily. Franco stands at the altar, trying not to stare too much at Fer in the front row. The church is a little sparse, but it's looking pretty respectably stocked. Martina and Venus are also there. And it looks like Augustin caved and is walking Erika down the aisle. Well, Erika and her ginormous cleavage and her even more ginormous pregnant belly and her super-mega-ginormous bouquet that she's attempting to use to hide that belly. And as Mr. 5ft points out, a shot straight down does nothing to hide that belly. Or the cleavage, I say. Fer looks upset. And actually, the bouquet isn't that big, it just has tons of trailing ribbon and Erika is holding it exactly the way the minister's wife told me not to at my wedding…"Hold the bouquet down a little, you don't want it to look like 'boob, flowers, boob'." But hey, when you gotta hide a belly, you do what you gotta do. More shots of Fer looking upset.

Jacinto, Margie, and Flor (in a dress! And makeup!) are running late and worrying that they won't be able to stop Gardenia's evil plans. But Gardenia is still back at the house and locked in. And her dress is ok, but it seems like the wrong shade of green. She tries looking for the keys, doesn't find them, and then declares that she's going to screw up the wedding one way or another. The kitchen window has no bars and some twisted wire keeping it shut.

The wedding starts. Esteve would have looked better without a gauze turban.

At the jail, Jacobo and Damian conference. Barbie isn't taking Dam's calls. Jacobo encourages him to call her at home or talk directly to Gonzo. But he doesn't think Gonzo would believe him. He wants Jacobo to give a note to Priscila. Damian doesn't want to spend any more time in jail. He's sure that Pris will want to come visit him when he gets the note and that Anibal will help her get him out of there faster. He tries to hustle Jacobo off, but Jacobo is stuck to his seat. Because Damian forgot to wait for Jacobo's last line "we'll get you out of here," after which he repeats that he doesn't want to be stuck there any longer.

The wedding continues. Erika looks like the only happy person. Everyone else looks worried or just blank.

Gardenia caught the bus into town and heads for the church.

Padre Bosco continues the wedding. Now we see that Dolly is also smiling, but not as consistently or crazily as Erika.

Padre Bosco gives a sermon about what a marriage is and isn't. "Is it a custom that we go through the way we go to school? Is it something we have to do because that's what everybody else does and we just don't question it? Or could it be that a marriage is a party that we want to throw because in some way it gives us prestige or relevance? What reasons bring a couple to make the decision to stand before an altar, surrounded by friends and family and say out loud that they promise to form a family in Christ's name?" Big warp-speed zoom on Erika. Is Padre Bosco getting to her?

Gardenia is close enough to hear Padre Bosco from outside as she keeps walking toward the entrance of the church.

"I have the impression that sometimes they come to a marriage to satisfy desires that don't have anything to do with love. And that's why I ask Erika and Franco to take a moment, a moment that should be enough to ask themselves what brings them to this altar." Erika looks like she really is thinking about it, and maybe coming to the sane decision.

We hear Padre Bosco's voice from outside as the wedding car's chauffeur gets out and Gardenia walks by, paying way too much attention to the car. "I hope it's love and not a petty [mezquino] desire that has brought us into the presence of God, our Lord, and that it is humility and not vanity that motivates us to make these vows of faithfulness."

"That it be freedom and not the slavery of a dream that guides us to this altar. Please rise." Padre Bosco comes down and starts asking the pertinent questions. Franco first…"Do you promise…until death separates you?" He steals a glance back at Fer as Erika smiles broadly at him. Franco accepts. Fer is shocked. Erika looks like everything is going just as she expected. Now Padre Bosco asks her. And Erika gives a big toothy grin to her parents as Margie thought bubble prays "Dear God, you know how much Eddie loves Fer, but if it's your wish that they not be together, then thy will be done." *sigh* Sometimes Margie is just too much of a good girl. But then again, she's in one of the few stable relationships in this show, so I guess sometimes nice gals do finish first.

Gardenia comes running in and marches straight up the aisle. She does pause to genuflect [kneel and cross herself] and in that moment, Jacinto puts a hand over her mouth and drags her into the pews. Erika is still smiling and looking around, but she stops smiling as she looks a Fer looking at both her and Franco, looking devastated. Erika says before they continue, she wants to talk to Franco for a moment. Padre Bosco whispers "What's wrong?" Erika tells him not to worry, so Padre Bosco ushers them into the sacristy [little getting-ready room, often just off the altar] as he tells the assembled crowd that they'll continue in a few minutes. Fer looks anxiously around.

In the sacristy, Padre Bosco says he'll entertain the crowd while they take all the time they need. "And may God bless you." Padre, I think we're gonna need more than that! Erika and Franco look at each other.

Jacinto drags Gardenia out of the church. She gets away from him, but then Flor and Margie are blocking the way back into the church. Jacinto reminds her this is going to hurt them all. Flor opines that Eddie has a right to do que-ever the hell he wants to. Gardenia screams that she's going to go in there and tell everyone "Don Santorito is Eduardo Juarez," causing Flor and Margie to gasp.

Erika tells Franco that he's already accepted her as his wife, but now their destiny hangs on her answer. Franco reminds her he's keeping his word. She knows and says she didn't stop the wedding because she doubts his word. Why, then? She says she hasn't forgotten for a moment the terms of this marriage and she knows they're not marrying for love. Franco reminds her that she said their love can grow. Erika says there's something that was missing in their original agreement. She wants to ask him a question and she's sure he'll tell the truth. "Do you love Fernanda Elizalde?" He doesn't answer. "There's a lot at stake here, because the love I have for her is like the love of a sister and you know it. Do you realize? It's not just our marriage in play here, but a great friendship. Franco, don't be afraid to tell me the truth, because right now a lie could be terrible for our lives. I'll repeat the question. Are you in love with Fernanda?" "Yes, Erika. I love her." Erika gulps air and sobs.

Finally, he grew a pair! No previews as we're in Ultimas Semanas, but I can only guess we'll be getting even more exciting revelations tomorrow!

Additional vocab note:

mezquino = petty

(I wasn't clear about which word I was referring to in the body of the recap)

Thank you for the recap, Kat, esp. the translations. I didn't grasp all of FrEd & Erika's conversation at the end. Sometimes the music is louder than the dialogue, IMO.

I'm fed up with FrEd, his long sad face at the wedding and his “word”, which is more important than telling the truth. Ya basta! If I was Fer, I'd be royally P.O.'d. Worst galán I've seen. Juan Del Diablo puts him to shame. (now there's a galán!)

Does Erika even have a clue that FrEd is taking her out of the country - away from her Dolly mami - after their wedding?

On another note, I liked her wedding dress.

Visualize: Wedding Crasher Gardenia going out thru the window. In that dress. Never mind. Too bad Jacinto didn't throw her under a bus.

The look on Padre B’s face, back in the sacristy after Erika asked for a time-out, when he said “ y Dios bendiga” was soooo oy veh! That was priceless.

Fer’s eyebrows look the same to me. I think it’s that big honkin’ top hat that makes them look smaller.

Muchilingue – maybe for multi-lingual? Almost rhymes with lucha libre…..

Erika looked pretty in bed (when FrEd called her) without all that harsh eye makeup.

Boyz from the ‘hood reunion! Lucio y Damian.

Thanks, Kat! I loved this episode. Gardenia looked fabulous in her blue dress. I loved Jacinto dragging her backwards down the aisle. Yes, Fr/Ed is a complete disgrace. Standing at the altar and giving long looks to Fer. Shame! Shame! He's making things as hard as possible for her and embarrassing the supposed new wife too. Bad, bad boy. And lousy acting too. Fer was great.

I agree with whoever said yesterday that Barb must be lying about Artemio being Aurora's dad. We've seen her lying about such things many times before. Her descent into insanity in front of Aurora is lots of fun to watch - she's had to stand stony faced for so much of the run. Bravo, Lucero!

Doris,

Are they still getting married? I thought Erica had seen the light and was releasing FS from his "promise".

Sorry Mrs. 5 ft... Great informative recap. Thanks!

I was surprised that yesterday we had more discussions about the relationship of Aurora to Santiago.

We decided some months ago, when Santiago and Aurora were searching for Rebecca Sanchez, that they were half-first cousins. I have seen nothing yet that changes that conclusion. They share one grandparent - making them half first cousins.

Double First cousin - share all four grandparents - caused by mulitple sibling marriages - eg brother and sister of one family marry sister and brother of another family and all have children. Those children have the same common blood as brothers and sisters because they share 100% blood from four identical granparents. Very common situation in rural families - even in the US. I have two sets of double cousins from my great-grandparents born in the late 1800's in Kansas. (Imagine one farm family with 8 kids with nearest neighbors a mile away with 11 kids all the same age - it is very likely that more than one match is going to happen between those families.)

First cousin - share one SET of grandparents.

Half-first cousin - share one grandparent. Same blood relationship as second cousins.

By the way, first cousin marriages are allowed in many to most states of the US.

Oh Kat, you are so deliciously witty & the best thing so far this morning. As a woman of particular proportions, I loved the "boob-flower-boob" advice from your wedding. Too funny!!!! Mille grazie!

Very disappointed in Fr/Ed. His longing looks at Fer in the middle of his vows were just rude. Erika actually acted more maturity last night than he did. I knew the wedding wouldn't happen but wasn't sure what plot device they'd use...I expected Padre to grab his chest & fake a heart attack when his sermon didn't work.

What happened to Steve's bruises? I guess they're down the hill with the old man & Jimmy Hoffa, never to be seen again.

Florecita looked stunning last night. The powder blue polyester Lactos uniform is uglier than my uniform from high school.

Dam & Lucio...ha. There's a pair of idiots. Add in Jacobo & you've got a trifecta of stupidity.

Babs is bonkers. Unhinged over her hija...go figure.

My guess: DDenia will NOT be the one to out Fr/Ed, only because we all expect it. Carlos, were you drooling last night? I thought she looked very pretty. Amazing how she slipped out of the window, grabbed a bus, walked a few blocks & still looked perfect.

"I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning, like a whirlpool it never ends..."

oops, Erika acted more mature, not maturity. donde esta mi cafe?

On "cousin" marriages...I have a friend from Palestine, and in her country, small, and her social group, educated upper-middle class, you often end up marrying some kind of cousin because the choices aren't that many. Not a first cousin usually, but some kind of cousin, yes.

I thought Gardenia was ravishing in her dress last night, even eclipsing Fernanda. (And goodness Marta in that strapless dress was also a standout). Seems to be some controversy about the color though. Kat says "the wrong shade of green", Melinama says "blue". To me, it was a "dark forest green" (back to the Crayola box!) and with her tumble of curly hair and the scarf, she was a traffic stopper for sure.

Great recap, Kat, and I agree with you about the abrupt fade from passionate, sweaty kiss (what did he have on under that shirt?mmmmmm) and then the church with that painful, screechy, ear-torturing wedding march.

Fabulous recap Kat! When Gardenia gets on a roll I have no clue what she is saying. How did she get out that window in that dress? Looked great on her too. I thought all the ladies looked especially pretty last night.

Lucio--I forgot all about him.

Was it implied that Fr/Ed and Nanda did the deed or was that just my wishful thinking? :-P

Why bring up the Old Dude now? A way to pin another crime on Babs?

When Jacinto grabbed Gardenia from behind and covered her mouth and drug her outside if I had been drinking coffee I'd have spit it at the TV. That was priceless!

Great recap, Kat.

Didn't Franco seem very morose when he was talking to Venus, Estev and Martina and also to Fer when he was talking about Tuesday like maybe he would do himself in??? Like maybe he was so disappointed the way things turned out??? (altho we all know he and Fer wil end up together.)

I thought Gardenia's dress was a beautiful shade of emerald green.

Altho Erica looked pretty, I couldn't make head or tails of her hairdo, but it was a darn sight better than that one longer side which made it look like it was dragging her head to one side.

Ann-NYC

I hated the veil. Yes, her hair was weird too.

Kat, you once again did a smashing job of providing the details with biting and on target wit. I've said it before, I love your style.

Gardenia, as well as all the other women last night, was stunningly beautiful, but I was even more impressed by her pluckiness and spunk. Would that our increasingly small looking hero had even half of her grit and certitude.

That said, my favorite last night was Erica. Not only did she look (pregnancy not withstanding) DDG, She is coming close to compromising Nanda's status as alpha bitch. If she follows through and halts this sham of a wedding, she will be forcing Nanda to chose between taking her leftovers(Frankie-boy) since he has already committed to her, or saving face by rejecting him herself. I say (I hope not prematurely) well-played Erica. And her scene without makeup revealed her awesome natural beauty. Certainly, pregnancy agrees with this already gorgeous lady.

Last night's clear winner by KO: Erica.

Carlos

One more thing, an absolute killer of a title.

Carlos

Thanks for the great recap Kat. When they were talking about Rocia missing Grampa, I thought perhaps Barb would feel a little something because she has now found her hija... but... no... Just another problem solved. Losing a bunch of those sympathy points she was starting to gain telling her back story the last couple of days. :)

Connie... "Was it implied that Fr/Ed and Nanda did the deed or was that just my wishful thinking? :-P" Yes, it was implied. At least that is how Denia's fevered brain sees things. :)

Dam and Lucio together. I thought they would leave Lucio out of things, but, he's back. I wonder if they can come up with a good plan together or not.

JefFMN

Full and witty recap, Kat. Loved it.

I think Erika will do the right thing for the right reason, just as she told Fr/Ed. She finally has seen the light and does not want to ruin three lives and her great friendship/sisterhood with Fernanda via this sham marriage.

I've noted before that Erika has never done anything malicious to Fernanda, even though she was hurt by her betrayal. All she did was try to fix her up with someone else. She may be class-conscious, yes, but not evil and I don't think she would have ulterior motives in calling off the wedding.

I'm at a table by myself as I did not like Gardenia's dress at all. Too fussy with all that hair and she was bustin' out of the top. Flor was the red carpet winner in my book, followed by Erika and Martina.

Barbara is now in a no-win spot. She cannot dare tell Artemio that Aurora is still alive and Aurora won't budge without seeing him. Plus Aurora seems repelled by Barbara. She backed away from her embrace and shook off her grasp. Good for her.

WHAT IF . . . Barbara really had an "hijo" and it turns out to be Santiago, the adopted one? Maybe Aurora was Montse's by an affair and there was a classic baby swap?

JudyB – yes, those violins were screechy. Ouch.

Sandy in TN - if you didn't get to see it last night, the wedding got to the I do's (los acepto) when things got put on hold.

KAt, Kat, you've done it again! Excellent 'cap, weird episode.
When Franco asked Martina and Venus for a final favor, what was the favor? He gave Martina money for her studies, and wished Venus well.

When Dam and Lucio are reunited in the gray bar hotel, Dam acts like he doesn't know Lucio, or anthing about why he's there, or how long, etc.

The bfast when Gonzo is informed of Marcario's demise (Gonzo doesn't even know when his employees die!), Babs has the opportunity to redeem herslef by showing remorse, and- NOPE! just another stumbling block removed. She is doomed beyond redemption, despite her true feelings for Abora/nieta. Sorry, bitch.
Then, after Eddy and Fer kiss (ensuing wrestling match slightly inferred, but Fer is a virgin, Eddy, too, so you would think that they would make a bigger deal of it.. Also, Fer would NOT do that to Err), we get that "varios dias han pasado" segway to the wedding- no transition. It was like the writers said, "enough of this, let's just do the wedding scene".

All the girls looked great. Especially Gardenia, she came awfully close to falling out of her dress while scuffling with Jacinto. I did not recognize Flor at first.

finally, I'm glad that Err is awaking from her delusional stupor, and certain to call off the whole boda. This accordance with their orginal plan, after all.

Where do we go from here?

Kat, as usual you're the greatest. Please tell us the you'll be recapping Sortilegio. You explained this important episode so explicidly. I'm understanding a lot of the dialogue, but wouldn't put enough of it together to figure out the logic of Fr Boscos sermon. (I'm not Catholic so I didn't know if it is customary to give a sermon during a wedding). But you explained it all so well. I thought maybe he was looking for a reason not to perform the ceremony?

As much as we've blasted Erika in the past or being perhaps the most annoying in the tele, I felt very sorry for her last night. What she learned last night wasn't really new, I think that the sermon opened her eyes to the reality of the situation.

They really teases us with the Gardenia scenes. I wouldn't be surprised if it was much ado about nothing because it was just too obvious.

It'll be interesting to see how Franco\Eddie redeems himself to both Fer and Erika and her family.

Fer is already independent enough of her family to handle the situation the way her heart dictates.
In closing, I must say it looks like I'm the only one who liked Fers hat. That look is prevalent among the modern day rich and famous and theater preformers. It's just the opposite of a cheap/pimpish look.

I liked her hat too. It was very stylish. Her outfits are getting much better.

Fantastic recap 5ft Latina. I loved uour remarks on Fernanda's pimp hat so much that I resented the fact that she didn't wear it for the wedding.

When Gardenia was talking about being "muchilingüe", it reminded me of a program I took in elementary school called "Muchilingua" where they taught us a little bit of Nahuatl and Mayan. I forgot most of it but I can still write from 0 to 20 in mayan!

I feel bad for Babs at being kind of rejected by Aurora, she has done so many wrong things but she genuinely cares for her and who knows, maybe if she had one person who truly loved her as a child she would have become different.

I couldn't believe Fre/Er actually said yes while he had dared to be throwing glances at Fernanda during the whole ceremony. I wonder if any of the presents was getting uncomfortable by Father Bosco's speach since it was to clearly designed to make the bride and groom desist from getting married. Erika finally did something good for her and everyone, I'm glad. She has more gonads than Fr/Ed now, good for you Erika.

Jarocha

Thanks Kat for another witty recap! This was a wild episode! When I heard the violins I thought it was a wedding rehearsal. I never expected the actual wedding, especially after that scene with Fr/Ed and Nanda.

Gardenia was gorgeous! On my TV the dress was teal. What was with her having to crawl out the window? Marge, Flor and Jacinto must have guessed her plan, locked her in and left without her!

Martina looked great as well. Erika was a lovely bride but... I am totally p!ssed off at Fr/Ed. How could he play with the emotions of 2 women like that? Did it never cross his mind that breaking Fer's heartmight matter to Erika? And what about Monday when he meets with Artemio? Was he just going to tell Erika he was going to the store for some ice cream? Or was the plan to go on the "honeymoon" for a day, then rush home to meet AB?? WTF??

Thanks, Kat, for another top notch recap. Well, I have to name Erica MVP for that episode. She does seem to have a dimension beyond the gotta-get-my-man one track mindset of the past couple months. Can't wait to see what happens when they re-enter the church...

Loved the Fr/Ed and Fer kiss. I was just hoping it would be enough for him to realize he needed to call off the wedding and get right with the Buddha, but noooo.

It's refreshing to see that at least Aurora has grown a backbone. Loved watching Babs' disintegration when Aurora would not walk out with her. It was a true checkmate when Aurora asked to meet her father! Your move, Barbie.

When the music began (sounded like a scalded cat) I was afraid Franco Reyes was going to show up and sing Ave Maria! Oh the horror!

Kat fantastic recap. Just like watching the show again in english. Awesome!! About Erica, it seems she's always been in competition with Fer,[her mother said so to Franco]so marrying Franco is just one more thing over Fer. She knows they love each other and yet here we are at an impromptu wedding. The look on Fer's face when Franco said "I accept" just about broke my heart. Can someone please tell me what Gardenia hopes to get out of all this? It is not like Franco is EVER going to love her. What a witch, a beautiful one though.
Hanna, md

I was hoping we would see Lucio again when Damian got to prison. Yay!

Kat, wonderful recap, thanks so much. Love the Pimp/Fer...I don't know what the costumers are thinking but this show has been all over the map! Esteve with the gauze turban LOL!

The recap title is too funny!! tks 5ft

Wasn't that the 1st time Fr/Ed EVER called Erika, she should have been suspicious of sth.

Anyone notice Tomasa's loud footsteps on the dining room floor? I haven't heard that before, maybe she has a new pair of noisy zapatos.

Besides the obvious, the whole wedding seemed strange. Papá usually delivers the bride to the groom, who is standing to the right of the altar. Maid of honor & best man on either side. Franco didn't even turn around when Erika approached nor did he ever even look at her. And where were the rest of the Elizaldes? Anibal invited Franco to Fers wedding. The Elizaldes & Astorgas must be old friends, at least they are in the same class.

Gardenia's dress was emerald green on my TV. Pretty, but a little less fu fu would have been better, great store-boughts however. I liked Fernanda's best, for a change.

I believe Fr/Ed thinks he might meet his maker when he reveals himself to Artemio as Eduardo Juarez. S/b interesting tonight.
He still has to rescue Lili, Babs
has to get some revenge on Artemio. Artemio needs to meet Aurora.

I don't remember Fernanda ever finding out that Damian was arrested for terrorism or Gonzo for that matter.

Fr/Ed's reason for going through with the marriage to Erika, that he had given his word, is a dumb reason, and Fernanda knows it, but can't do anything about it. Of course, his real reason is that he can't reveal he's Eduardo, which would 1) ruin the plan to save Lili, and 2) cause Fernanda to hate him. At least this is what he thinks.

Now it looks as if Erika will call off the wedding. And then you'd think Fr/Ed would have a clear shot and be able to marry Fer, at least from Erika and Fer's view. But since they don't know his true reasons, what reason would he give now? He'd be out of excuses. It just feels as if his identity has to come out, very soon, and damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead, let the chips fall where they may.

Thank you Kat, you had me giggling out loud in the office. Again.
And that's so funny about 'boys in the hood reunion' Damian and Lucio.

Now that I know all Father Bosco said in the ceremony I want to say print and distribute to all priests and ministers! That's what I call a public service announcement! And my hard-headed young friend Erica looked like she was taking it in. She even revealed more of her loving nature when she pointed out to Mr. Man of His Word that there was more at stake than his pride. Love, and not the romantic kind, but an abiding love for a 'claim' sister is at stake here. My applause to Erica.
No applause for Gardenia. She has gone pass childishness. Maybe she never was far from that dark side of love, drowning in possesiveness.

OT: About that previous production of Corazon Salvaje. The galan was not a pirate. He was a merchant sea captain suspected of dealing in stolen goods. No sea battles or even fighting on land. He is shown on a ship (think backdrop) twice and even then the scenes were less than a minute. I called him a second story man. Because he was always coming thru a window.

Another OT, the new Sortilegio is a remake of a TN that starred that guy wearing those badd hats in the commercials! I think he was suppose to be a hot galan of his day. But I felt the bad guy stole that show.

Thanks for such a thorough recap, Kat. Of course, it was hilarious too. Appreciated your translation of Padre Bosco's sermon, since most of that just flew over my head. With that in mind, it made more sense for Erika to suddenly morph from shrieky and annoying to selfless and noble.

Way to go Aurora! Stand firm in the face of Barbi's snivelling and begging. Madre Superior still has Aurora's back and she's wearing her black habit.

Dam meeting Lucio (the Empresario) at the prison canteen was too funny. They have the potential to be a team--both smooth, good looking, not bothered with a conscience.

Finally, a long and meaningful kiss with Fer and Fr/Ed. And then that abrupt transition to the boda. I thought that had to be a dream sequence, especially with the surreal screechy string quartet. Sounded like a nightmare.

They gave us the Gardenia scene for comic relief, hope of stopping the wedding, and eye candy for the guys.

We have no way of knowing why Erika's dad decided to walk her down the aisle after all. (Don't much care, just wondered.) And, it's just as well they have a small crowd. Enough impactados at the pause in the vows already, so just wait for the buzz if anything more occurs. Scandal at the wedding!!
La Paloma

Thank you Kat so much for the detailed recap..I understood very little of what Padre B was saying during the ceremony so your translation was teriffic as usual !!!!
I was shocked when they threw the wedding at us so fast I didn't have time to prepare myself for it ( no popcorn) !

The first shot of Fr/Ed at the church I thought he looked like a tan Cary Grant. But other than that I wanted to smack him when he said YES he would take Erika. He's been extremely annoying lately.

Erika looked beautiful and I did like her dress, Gardenia look "hot" in her teal dress. (it was teal on my TV also) Flo I didn't even recognize...she looked great and I was soooooooo happy she wasn't wearing those star earrings!

Thank you Erika for finally waking up, I give her a lot of credit for doing what idiot Fr/Ed should have done months ago...TALK about it.

The "snack shack" was actually pretty nice for a prison. Chips, soda, cigs...not bad.

With all the talk lately of Santi possibly being adopted,I too was wondering if Santi could be Barbara's son....but then we are back to square one with Aurora...

Thanks so much, Kat, for another fantastic recap!

Connie, I love your description of the wedding music sounding like a scalded cat! When I heard it, I wondered whether Gardenia had somehow bribed the musicians to sound dreadful.

Was anyone else surprised to see Jacinto so fully recovered from his beating that he was able to subdue a struggling and determined Gardenia?

Can't wait for tonight's episodio.

Kat, thanks once again for a great recap.

Did Fer ever file for a divorce? Is she still married?

This production would have been so much better without a pregnant Sherika. Can you image what people will think of this years from now if they watch it on DVD and they do not know the back story on the strange scenes trying to hide the bulge. Was the lopsided hair cut to distract us?

What will happen to that gorgeous horse? Will it be repossessed by Agustin? Agustin was not happy about this union from the very beginning - the voice of reason - too bad no one listened to him.

Another thought about Franco's willing ness to marry Err. Yes, all along he's been saying that he is a man of his word, he's given his word, and he's going to follow thru. More recntly, he's made this "date" with AB to reveal Eduardo Juarez, the same evening, following the boda, right? I've been thinking that his intent has been to exchange himslef for Lili, to sacrifice his life to atone for all the pain that he has caused everyone, as well as cumplir palabra to gain Lili's freedom. The perplexing part is that he would be widow-ing Err, (if Gardenia can make up words, i can, too. Her dress was a deep blue-green). That's the way it looks, we know he has a plan, he has had one plan after the other, none of which made much sense, but somehow have all worked+/-. This is the wackiest "hero" character ever.

Senor Astorga should have been climbing over the pew and administering a beatdown to Franco for gazing at Fernanda when he should have been gazing at Erika.

I think not only was Erika listening to Padre Bosco's sermon, but she couldn't help but see Franco gazing at Fernanda when he should have been gazing at HER. He didn't look at Erika one time during the entire ceremony.

The only other Elizaldes that would have been there would have been Gonzo and Barbie. I guess Franco COULD have invited Anibal but it seems like only friends and family were at this hasty moved-up wedding. Camilo obviously is in jail, Lili is missing and Santiago has "left town." Gonzo & Barbie probably were invited to the original elaborate wedding.

Connie - yes, we are grateful we didn't have Franco doing his awful Ave Maria for the umpteenth time. I don't know which is worse: him or those violins.

Gardenia's dress looked teal green on our TV. I was concerned about bubis popping out. The hair & the dress were too much for me. It was a wedding; not a cocktail party.

bonneychurros - JDD was a shipping merchant of some sort, wasn't he? The. Most. Perfect. Galán. Ever.

If Fer is in a tell all talking mode, shouldn't she tell Santi that Aurora was drugged and raped by Camilo. Is that just a loose plot line .. ?? He seems like everything is fine with Arora now so maybe we're to assume he knows about Camilo? Or does her pregancy negate the fact that he thinks she was a willing participant? I'm perplexed :o)

Kat, I enjoy your title each time I refresh the screen.

Back off topic about Sortilegio in the previous production: The title of that telenovela was Tu O Nadie. And the bad brother was played by Salvador Pineda. He was such a smooth sociopath that he caused me to look around at my neighbors and co-workers.

Since churches and houses of worship are built with planned acustics for spoken and music sound I just assumed the scrapey sounds revealed this was not being shot in a real church. Odd though that they didn't do a sound room editing.

I think Fer told Santi about Cami but I don't think she mentioned the drugs.

Poor FrEd looks like he was headed to the gallows and I could not decide if it was a lifetime with Sherika or turning himself into AB.

I like your explanation of how Santi and Aurora wouldn't really be committing incest based on their half blood ties. I think at this point that it's too late for any more surprise baby swapping/adoption stories to come out and that things are as they have been revealed. They're cousins and they're havin a baby!

I loved Fer's dress at the wedding (simple, yet beautiful) and her hat ensemble too.

Go Erika, for finally seeing sense! I agree with those that said she has never been malicious, just deluded. Now she's coming out of that delusional state.

That first comment was made for Silverfox about the cousin relations.

I think the thing with Santiago is, when he found out that Camilo was the guy in bed with Aurora, he simply assumed that it wasn't consensual!

When the wedding scene began I thought for sure it was just a dream because it came on so fast. Oh well. If Erika's not going to give her "I do" then we can move on to more interesting parts of the story. :-)

I don't get Artemio being Aurora's dad. If that is true WTF? How can he want revenge for how he and is mother were treated after what he has let happen to Aurora? That is the worst storyline for me in this entire show right now. It's FELS quality!

And why does Artemio hate Ed and how can Ed ruin his plans. He never knew anything until after his mom died! He's had to figure all of this out. So how could Ed have ever brought him down until now?

Okay, I have really enjoyed this show, but I think I just started thinking way to hard. I'm dusting off my beaning and I'll just wait to see how they wrap this one up!

I still would like to see Erika end up with someone. She has been the best person through this whole show.

Gardenia's dress was teal on my TV. Haven't we seen that dress before? It seemed familiar. When Jacinto grabbed her I thought for sure the puppies were going to get loose.

I don't understand Fernanda not telling Santiago the drug part. Santiago wants to see Aurora & doesn't seem too upset with her. I don't think Santiago would think it's NOT consensual w/o the drugging explained. Remember as niños, Santiago liked Erika, Camilo knew it so made a play for Erika, even kissing her & Erika liked Camilo.

Santiago found Aurora in the stable with Camilo & they even went riding together, so I think that Santiago thinks Camilo made a play for her & she fell for it.

Typical TN, leave out the most important part, why someone did what they did.

Nothing is as bad as FELS, it was total torture to finish that one.
Even though MEPS has it's MANY faults, I enjoy it & look forward to the next episode. At least it's not boring like FELS.

And besides, I see my FC, Gardenia get out of my way.

Aurora finds out Babs is her mother and does not call to tell Fer, but will wait a few days until after Franco's wedding? WTF?

Always enjoy your recaps Ms. 5 ft! Thanks.

Connie, puppies? Those are full grown mastiffs.

Carlos

Carlos, now that is funny!

Doris... "WHAT IF . . . Barbara really had an "hijo" and it turns out to be Santiago, the adopted one? Maybe Aurora was Montse's by an affair and there was a classic baby swap?" ... I'm beginning to think you are just trying to fill out your TN Bingo Card!! LOL :)

JeffMN

Molly, not too far out
Child abusers beget child abusers more often than not, doesn't make sense but you see it everyday in the periodicos

Yes Connie, that is very true. I have seen it in my own family. It just make AB any even bigger jerk!

Anon 4:38, Aurora is an idiot. Over and over again she tells the wrong person stuff she shouldn't and doesn't tell the people she should. She gets all over my last nerve.

Denia too. I used to really enjoy her, now I just want to slap her!

I have just caught up with MEPS with this episode. Wow! Things are moving fast! Particularly this wedding! I thought it was going to be a dream sequence at first. Who would have thought such a big plot point would just appear like that. One would have supposed we would have seen everyone getting ready--Erika happy, Fr/Ed stonefaced, Fernanda sad, Gardenia being locked up.

But here we are--right at the moment! I was on the edge of my seat for the first time cheering Gardenia on --she needed to get to the church on time. For a moment I thought Fr/Ed and Erika would marry and then Erika would have to die. But it looks like Erika is going to step up and do the intelligent thing. I am happy for her.

I thought all the women looked pretty at the wedding. I liked Gardenia's dress as well as Erika's ( I didn't even think about her being pregnant). Fer, Martina and Flor were quite pretty also.

Aside from the wedding, I am one who thinks Fer and Fr/Ed did NOT do the deed. I was kinda surprised to see there were several of us who thinks it did happen.

Barbara

Oh, sorry I forgot in the heat of my excitement of just catching up with this past episode. Thank you, thank you, ALL of you recappers for helping me through these episodes and increasing my enjoyment and comprehension immensely. We are so lucky to have the time and dedication everyone has put into this show. Barbara

5ft~~~Thanks for the recap. It was a bright spot in my day. I see that you will be on Team Sortilegio. I think that you were a fan of Annddrress , the tialoving abuelo killer in Amar sin Limites [Marcelo Cordoba] and he's in Sortilegio . I believe that he plays Chantel Andere's novio. Let the games begin. Jeff~~~You asked about the possibility of Lucio and Damed coming up with a workable plan...think about it...it's Lucio and Damed. The answer is ...NO....not in a gazillion years. Is Ludio the barkeeper at the prison ???...odd. To my eye, the lovely , though unbalanced, Ddenia was wearing dark teal or perhaps we could call it blue spruce [my favorite Christmas fir].

Variopinta, sorry, I just realized I directed my comment back at Connie. But yes, you are totally correct!

That would be a bumber if fer and eduardo did the deed, without us seeing passionate eye contact with lust in their eyes. We have waited so long for them to show us something to talk about. When they were kissing, I thought Eduardo hinted that they do the deed and I was unhappy at the thought of it happening hastily, in the livingroom and not slowly but surely and lovely. Someone mentioned Fer getting left overs if Er doesn't marry him. I would feel that way. I would always remember that if it was not for Er saying no, they would be married. I would be too bitter. Ret

I'd describe the color of Gardenia's dress as somewhere between dark turquoise and bright teal. Deep aquamarine, maybe?

Kat: Enjoyed your recap, immensely!

Fernanda has all she needs to take down Babs and Art, the only thing left is to get Lily away from Art and Fernanda can make her move.
Eduardo has given Fer all the tools
she needs he really only has one thing left to do, get Lily safely home as she is a key piece of everything that happened.
