Sortilegio #13, October 22, 2009: Don't worry. It's Normal. Really. It is.

From yesterday
Tonight we get the Reader's Digest version of the love scene to beat all love scenes. Viewerville sighs and takes a collective cold shower. Whew! MJ is crying from happiness for a change.

Today:
The sun comes up and MJ and Alex are still entwined in sleep. A bell tolls outside. MJ sits up and thinks Oh God! What have I done? Alex wakes up and tells her not to leave. He tries to convince her to stay but MJ feels guilty and says it was a mistake. Alex says it is normal we are married. He calls her his love and says they need to talk. MJ is in the shower and we see her silhouette through the shower door as Alex tries to console her. She sobs in the shower. He feels bad and says he wants to know what she thinks. He leaves the bathroom and she continues crying.

Raquel, Victoria, Felipa (why does the maid get to sit at the table with the rich folks?) are eating breakfast. Raquel comments about Pedro being sick then opens her big fat mouth and says something about Bruno. Victoria throws down her toast and says that she already told her that Bruno was not with the girls. They went to look for their dad and nothing more. Raquel says something and Victoria says this is stupid. Your brother was helping someone having a difficult time (apuro) and nothing more. Don't fill Alex's head with such nonsense (tonteria). Raquel says something about the party and they all left together and Victoria would have the the same suspicions as Raquel. Raquel thinks the story they are telling her is very odd (raro). Victoria says she's already told her the story and she can think whatever she wants. Raquel gets up and stomps out. Victoria wants to eat in peace.

MJ is washing a sheet in the bathroom sink. Paula comes in and takes it from her and tells her to let the servants do it. She tickles MJ and wants to know all the juicy details about last night. MJ is saved by a knock on the door. It's Zeke with a huge arrangement of flowers. Paula grabs the card. MJ gets it back and reads the card. “I'm sorry I had to leave for the office early. We will have dinner later. I love you.” MJ looks happy. MJ is still worrying about her dad though. She says she's afraid (so what else is new?). She smells the flowers and smiles.

Roberto shows up at the office. Alex looks surprised and says, What brings you here? Money? (Uh, duh! ) Well, yes. You have to give him props for not trying to sugar coat it. Hey you could work. Robert looks absolutely shocked at the thought. Alex says he wants him to keep his perra on a short leash so she won't bother MJ.

MJ goes to the restaurant looking very pleased with herself. Alex is waiting for her as a trio serenades them. They kiss. Couldn't hear the conversation because of the background noise.
Meanwhile, Pedro is calling the office looking for Alex. Maria (or Mary?) says he's not in. Pedro says he is checking on his daughters do you know how they are? She says she does not.
Maria writes down the number from caller ID and calls Alex. MJ has never had food as good as this. They make googly eyes at each other. Maria calls Alex and tells him that Pedro called and is at his house. He tells MJ her dad called and don't worry. He calls for his driver to bring the car. He calls Maria back and wants to know if Pedro has called the house and talked to anyone there? She doesn't think so. He says to tell Pedro not to call the house for any reason. Again he reassures MJ that everything will be ok. He kisses her hand. Their lunch is cut short as they head for home.

Paula looks bored while Pimp Daddy E looks on. Good afternoon he says just oozing charm in his best Saturday Night Fever shirt. He asks her if she is bored and she says yes. She says Victoria left and Raquel and Maura are at the spa. He says let's go do something. Whatever you want. She says let me get my purse.

Victoria and Felipa are still talking about Bruno. Victoria calls Fernando. Fernando asks if there is any news? Do you want me to come over? Victoria says yes she'd love it. Fernando's eyes light up and he says I'll be there Thank you very much. Does Victoria really not get it?
Pedro calls again for Alex at the office who is still not in so he asks for the number to the house. Maria tells him she does not have the number. He says thank you and hangs up. He thinks everything was for nothing. It is better if he were dead.

Alex arrives at the house and Zeke tells him everyone is gone. Paula has gone with Erik, Victoria has gone with Fernando, and Raquel is at the spa with Maura. (Again, nobody really cares.) He asks Zeke to pack a small suitcase, they are going on a trip.

Raquel and Maura are at the ice skating rink. Maura's lines, Raquel's lines. Oh look! Isn't that the stupid girl? Raquel starts screeching at PD asking him who gave him permission to come here? Raquel starts shouting at Paula who bless her little heart doesn't back down and we have a cat fight on the ice. You go Paula! My money's on her for sure. Raquel wouldn't want to break a nail. PD and some guy try to pull them apart. I say let them fight to the death or at least until one of them is bald.

Fernando and Victoria are at a flea market. They are browsing and she spies a unicorn. Fernando wants to know what a unicorn symbolizes. I couldn't understand what she said any help would be appreciated.

MJ and Alex are in the car heading to Pedro's house. He calls the office and is told Pedro has called two more times. They kiss in the backseat of the car. The next thing you know they will be parked at makeout, uh, lookout point. She worries about the driver watching them. He tells her not to worry it's normal.

As Victoria and Fernando are shopping she asks Fernando if he has a girlfriend. He says no. I haven't found the right girl. Isn't there someone in your circle? No. That's not really the problem he says. How mysterious she says. She finds an old book and picks it up. I didn't see the name of the book. She can't believe she found it. Do you know this book. Have you read it? Yes, she says with a faraway look in her eyes, a long time ago. He eagerly buys it for her. She hugs the book and looks sad.

Raquel shows up at the house looking for Alex. Zeke says he's gone on a trip. Raquel barges in on her mom and starts to tell her what happened with Paula. Paula shows up and they start yelling at each other again. I'd put my money on Paula again. Victoria tells them both to knock it off. Did I ask you for your opinion snaps Raquel. You don't need to yell. Raquel demands to know where Alex is and makes some nasty remark. You do not talk about the wife of the owner of this house like that. Victoria says she doesn't want to hear another word. Raquel gets in Paula's face again. Paula tells her she is just jealous. Raquel calls her a bitch and again stomps out. Hey, Raquel, it takes one to know one. She goes off to tell Roberto about it thinking he is going to support her. He tells her that Alex told him that he can't let her bother MJ or he wouldn't get any more money. She starts to screech like a harpie and he grabs her, pinching her face and pushes her. She angrily throws some nuts at him. I think it would have been much more effective if she threw his nuts at him. Just the good old grab and twist maneuver. Sorry guys.

Felipa wants Victoria to go do some writing. Victoria cries. Why don't you write about today. Write about Sr. Fernando. He is so young and handsome. I'll bring you something for your nerves. Victoria looks thoughtful and thinks about Fernando. Flashback to the other night when he was telling her she was a good mother. She gets a funny look on her face and you can see the light bulb trying to light up, it kind of flickers, and then goes out. She thinks to herself that she is crazy.
MJ and Alex arrive at Pedro's house. They talk about the divorce and laugh and kiss. She opens the door and they walk in. Dun, dun, dun she stops and looks impactada . Commercial.
We come back from commercial to find Pedro face down on the floor. He's got blood on his face. Did you fall, what happened? He tries to talk. Alex calls the ambulance.
Erik calls Bruno and tells him something happened, Alex and MJ left. Bruno wants to know what's up with that and Erik says he'll see what he can find out. He asks around but either nobody knows or they just aren't telling him. Eric asks him where he is and he says in Merida.
MJ and Alex are at the hospital with Pedro. The doctor comes out and I couldn't understand what he was saying. I did hear him say that he does not have any internal injuries and that is good. He tells MJ to get some rest.
Roberto is at a party (surprise) and New Guy shows up in a taxi. Roberto knows him. I'm not sure if he said he was his brother. They all seem to know him. Maura says she's got to fill him in on what is going on.

If this did not post to the right place can somebody do it for me? Thanks. Happy Friday.

Just out of curiosity I would like to know the techniques you veteran recappers use to recap? Do you watch it and type as you go? Or maybe watch it and then watch the DVR and recap? I'm trying to make it go faster. Thanks in advance.

Connie - Great recap! I haven't watched the episode yet. I did't need another cold shower this morning so thank your for the RD version of yesterday.

Paula is a little spitball of fire isn't she? But, she shouldn't be hanging with PD, IMO.

So, are they really married or not?

I wonder what happened to papa? Did he hurt himself?

Thank you again.

dpd

PS oh - I posted it for you.

Thanks. I'm not sure how to do it. I'm not sure he said what happened. He did say something but I couldn't understand him.

Connie, after recapping every night of Alborada from beginning to end I am a speedy recapper. My method: take notes while I watch the show, then type afterwards, rewatching any particular part if utterly necessary. I think this is fastest because it makes it easy to consolidate what you've written. If you try to write while you watch your recap tends to be long, repetitive and disjointed like the show itself.

Connie - Thank you for the recap. Can't wait to watch my recording of this epi.

OT for Ibarramedia - the TV schedules lists BLF *but* now it's really Eco Moda. I tried the first episode and couldn't get into it. Shame on Telefutila for listing EM as BLF and trying to suck in viewers.

So it's the Reader's Digest version of the love scene at the beginning, eh? Wah.

Great job, Connie. Nicely done. I almost fell off my chair laughing over Mary Jo washing out the bedsheet. The fight on the ice was great. I'm loving Paula. She is certainly a feisty survivor. And Eric, well, it's guys like him who give us dirty old men a bad name.

Carlos

That's what I did last night Melinama and it did go faster. I try to watch ahead on YouTube but it leaves out a lot.

Thanks Carlos. I'm not a Paula fan but last night I was cheering her on for sure.

Connie, many thanks for the recap.Great start with MJ "crying from happiness for a change." ;) Loved your consise but pithy style!! I don't know how its spelled but Alex's secretary's name is pronounced Mar-ee. Also, the washing of the bed sheet was key scene because its implied, MJ didn't want anyone to see her virginal blood spilled on it. I think this will probably come up later.
CubsFan

Thanks Cubsfan. I looked up her name and it said Mary but that wasn't what it sounded like when Alex said it. Did anyone get the name of the new guy? He looks like trouble.

Thanks for an entertaining recap Connie. After all this time, I think that Felipa is victoria's personal assistant. Not a maid per se. If you notice that the real maids are wearing the flowery dresses. So her rank is quite elevated. More of a employee than a servant. A trusted confidant that is much m ore higher in rank than say Modesta in Alborada.

I think after the ice rink fight, and the argument at home. Raquel called Paula a perrita dog. Paula then proceeded to make barking noises at her.

Doris: That's a clever way to package the whole BLF and EM as one whole big continuous series. The even cut and splice the ad sequences from BLF. So iguess the real finale there ended at the wedding. When the first episode of EM showed, I thught they just changed the intro since there was a baby now and that they were married.

Connie: read my comments form last night. You made a list. And you are the anti-lister.

Ibarramedia

If you notice the opening love scenes, you will also notice a quick splice and the 'Sortilegio' blurb shows for half a second on screen. So that means the love scene went to commercial and came back again. We may have missed a minute or so.

Ibarramedia

Connie, the new guy's name is Ulysses (msp)
CubsFan

Ibarramedia, I read your comment and emailed you this morning. I don't make lists very often but I just couldn't help myself. 8(:-) I noticed that splice but couldn't figure out why it was there. That makes sense that it went to a commercial.

Great job, Connie! Thanks. I rewound so I could see the book title Fernando bought for Vicky and I believe it's Dos Vidas Sin Destino, but I’m not sure. Mr. HGR thinks it’s a book V. may have written? Loved what you said about a light bulb starting to flicker in Vicky’s brain and then went out about Fernando. So true. Sure hope that actor (Soto) can manage a few more facial expressions before he professes his love and has to look passionate.

I’m trying to remember another TN of his in which he actually had only one expression regardless of the scene– wide-eyed deer in the headlights. Thinking it might have been Mujer de Madera, but not sure. It’s the one in which he often had a huge yellow snake around his neck at commercial break. Oh well, hope his range has broadened because I’m hoping for a rip roaring great love story between him and Vicky.

Count me in as a fan of "the light bulb starting to flicker and then go out again" description of Vicky's thought processes. Well put.

I think she said the unicorn sybolized "eternity" but I wasn't really paying attention.

My recapping technique is like Melinama's. I take hand-written notes (which are sometimes hell to read afterwards). Try and use the ad time to look up puzzling words in dictionary. By the end of the show, have a "theme" in mind that will pull all the parts together and then I just start typing into the blog software.

I've seen him in something before but I just can't remember. Was he in Cuidado? It seems like it was something recent.

It's going to get interesting, and that is not roberts brother, just wait! Thanks for the posting

rebecca

Thanks JudyB. I type faster than I write so I type notes as I go then I go back and fill in. Then depending on how late it is I take a break and go back and fiddle with it some more adding comments and vocab and stuff. I'm still learning so I'm not as fast as everyone else. I'm enjoying it and learning at the same time.

Ibarramedia - that's right, the wedding episode was the Gran Fin. You should notice a different opening for EM, if I remember correctly.

I type faster than I write, also, Connie. But I don't have a laptop so it's handwrite or nuttin'.

Has someone else already pointed out that "Mary" is "Lulu" from Tontas? Love seeing her again, and not ridiculized as she often was in Tontas. Geeeawwwwd how I hated that show!

Connie, great recap! I loved your remark about Raquel, Roberto and the nuts.

When the new guy (Ulysses) was next to Roberto, I was thinking those are two very tall, very handsome, very well dressed guys. The female audience must love this. Am I off base here?

Judy, I'm pretty sure they said the unicorn symbolized purity.

I also think the book is one Victoria wrote years ago.

One minor thing is that Raquel "fired" Erik (Pimp Daddy), and he's trying to get unfired. Vicki wouldn't get involved, but Bruno said not to worry.

As for Pedro, the doctor said his injuries are suspicious. Although he said he fell, they could have resulted from blows. Somehow, I thought I heard that Bruno was in that same town (could be wrong about this, though), so he could have done it.

Connie, i write faster than I can type which is not saying much. You ought to type for me.

If I were to recap, I would write it out on a pad then transfer it to the blog.

My one off, one shot emergency Finale Recap of Fuego was a fluke. Lucky shot. I did that from memory but I was so focused like a madman that it was burned into my brain cells then. It was also easier to understand what they were saying and doing by listening to them and watching the body language. I doubt that can be replicated anytime soon.

Doris, I noticed the new opening but just thought they changed it like they did with Amor. It was still packaged and had the BLF logoon it. Clever editing. Those who never saw it before would not know the difference.

Ibarramedia

Judy, I was also happy to see "Lulu" in another role, not so comic this time. She's a good actress.

Connie, when I recap, I actually watch first, then watch again with the tape (and the captions). It takes forever (4-5 hours). But since I do the Friday show, I have extra time. The one time I did a Monday show, I pretty much used Judy and Melinama's method, with the notes.

Connie, great recap. I am grateful that you are willing to put so much time and effort into this volunteer job.

Raquel could use a muzzle as well as a leash. I am not usually a fan of cat fights but the one on ice was priceless. Paula must be really tough to sit on that ice with shorts! Why in the world would Raquel suit up for ice skating when she obviously cannot skate.

The lastest TVyNovelas Magazine has Gabriel Soto (aka Fernando) as the centerfold. Vicki needs to pick up a copy to get that light bulb glowing in her brain. She needs something to think about other than enabling the terrible twins.

rsk

I thought that dude was teaching Raquel to ice skate? I like Raquel. She intrigues me. Then Again, I like tall women.

Ibarramedia

Hombre...thanks for the correction on "purity" for the unicorn. I had the wrong "ity" for sure. Although sometimes purity can seem like an eternity, verdad?

MaryJo had some major next day regrets. Jeez, way to make a guy feel like he performed well- bolting from his arms and immediately scrubbing all traces of him off in the shower! Glad the flowers, note and invitation to dine did the trick and made her realize Alex wasn't going to do a slam, bam, thank you Mam.

The question of the legitmacy of the marriage bugs me as much as it does MaryJo though. I mean, they did not marry each other. It's fraud. In her mind their marriage is not legit, so she did not wait to make love until she was married, as she had always planned to do. In his mind, he seems to have accepted that the marriage is valid, and the only thing needed to make it truely so is their consumation of it, which is now a done deal. He kept saying to her last night that you are now my wife, like the sex made it so. Hmmm.. Not sure I would buy that either and would be just as doubtful as MJ.

That last comment was from me. :)

-Vivi in DC

Thanks for the recap Connie. The closed caps had 'Mari' for the secretary. Pedro mentioned a Rufino. So I assume Rufino had him roughed up. I assumed Rufino is the guy who was giving Pedro and White Haired Guy the illegal goods that they burned up. Probably was p*ssed about losing his stuff.

Somewhat glad to see that Fernando and Vicki haven't done anything yet. There was the ewww factor of messing around with your buds mother. Now all we have is the, "hey dude, your mom is hot" factor... so far. But it did look like Vicki was figuring things out there.. finally. :)

Connie: Thanks for the recap. I'm out of Viewerville until next Monday, so I'm keeping up with the recaps.

I just recap as I go along. If I don't know a word, I key it in in Spanish and then look it up. I depend a lot on the captions, but, I'm trying to get away from that. After MEPS, I needed a season off. That was just too long.

Ulysses looks like the guy who plays Sawyer on Lost. Yes, this novela is not doing badly in the man eye candy department. Now, if only they would set up a pool party scene, where all of the guys (good and bad), except Erik, were shirtless with towels wrapped around their six packs.

I think I heard some "love" music play when Roberto saw Ulysses come out of the cab. I'm beginning to think that Felipa wasn't off base with that one. That that would be an interesting love-making scene! :)

-Vivi in DC

Gabriel Soto was in Ladrón que roba a Ladrón. He was the one tunneling.

Connie, I'm fine with the older woman thing. If Victoria's admirer/friend/lover is some other guy who is not Alex's friend or has nothing to do with all of them then it is ok. How could you picture your best friend become your stepfather someday?

I would not mind dating an older woman if she does not look like it and really takes care of herself and as long as she is not older than my mother.

There are an increasing number of women who look great for any age. Please, no rotten eggs or tomatoes thrown my way.

Ibarramedia

Connie, excellent recap (as always). You've settled in as a recapper perfectly.

Gabriel Soto was also in Querida (had only one expression - vacant, throughout the entire telenova!)

Diana in MA

Hi, Connie: Thanks for the excellent recap. I thought Roberto's eyes lit up an his tummy said howdy (as my Irish Grandmother would say) when he say Ulysses. I think these two might be more than just friends, for sure. They are both WAY handsome!
Also, I have a question for you more advanced Spanish speakers and Mexican culture experts; Is Maria Jose an "old fashioned" name, like Mary Jo would be here in the US? Is her name related to her humble background? Paula seems to be a more common name in telenovelas.

I did business with a young spaniard scientist named Maria Jose. She was in her 20's.

Not a commonn name but it exists...

Ibarramedia

Thanks Connie, your best ever. The three lines that I liked the most:
“Hey, Raquel, it takes one to know one.”
“What brings you here? Money? (Uh, duh! ) Well, yes.”
“Raquel starts shouting at Paula who bless her little heart doesn't back down”
Wonderful recap, like someone else said, thanks for volunteering so much of your time!!

After the rapture of yesterday, I, like MJ, am back on earth and have begun to think a little. Someone, either in viewerville or telenovela jefe land needs to figure out if the status of a document signed with a fake name, it can’t be legal...or can it? MJ cried because she doesn’t want to be a “cualquiera”, she is uncertain of her legal status. It didn’t help that Alex said, when she was saying “tango miedo” earlier, that love can last a week or month, etc...that wasn’t what anyone wants to hear at that moment, although it is the truth. At the restaurant the next day when she apologized for crying, did he say “ a lot of girls cry”? Hope that was a bad translation on my part!! Oh well, at least the boy is honest..that counts for something.

This is a fun “ride”, a telenovela, so of course, MJ doesn’t have to worry, everything will be wonderful at the end.

Sandy in TN

Thanks for the recaps - I'm just learning Spanish and can only follow some of it - sometimes what I think I understand is way off!

I think the older woman/younger man thing is fine in general - but it is a problem that he's her son's good friend, that part seems creepy. I wouldn't be comfortable doing something like that.

Paula has been really annoying - how old is she, anyway? She acts like a teenager. But I did appreciate her in the cat fight!

Thanks for a great recap, Connie.

I think you agree with me that a lot of scenes had a lot of noise or music in the background which made it difficult to make out what was being said.

I wonder what WL's wife or girlfriend thinks of his love scenes. If it was me I would be pretty damned jealous.

Ann-NYC

Vivi in DC - Good question about the legality of their marriage, considering the real Ale was not the one who married MJ. But it leaves the door open for a nice wedding at the end, and most 'novelas end with one. Oh well, either way they can have the church wedding with the dress, veil, etc. Wasn't the first one a civil ceremony?

If Vicki started dating Fernando, wouldn't people think she's a cougar?

While Vic was out of earshot mooning over the book, Fernando asked the bookseller for another copy but the bookseller said that was the only one he had and that it wasn't available anywhere.

MJ told Paula the reason she was washing the sheets was because she got her period unexpectedly and was embarrassed for the maids to see it. Not that Paula believed her for a second.

What Paula actually said to Raquel was that she thinks Raquel is jealous of MJ because she wants to be in MJ's place. From the way Raquel has been acting, I can't help thinking Paula has a point. It was hysterical when she barked at Raquel.

The doctor told MJ and Alex that Pedro claims he fell but he (doctor) is sure Pedro was beaten up.

I think Felipa is supposed to be the ama de llaves (head housekeeper, in charge of all the female servants) but has been with Vic for so long she's mutated into being Vic's personal lady's maid as well (the equivalent of a valet) as well as her friend. It does seem odd that Vic doesn't seem to have any friends her own age other than Felipa, and no matter how close they are, Felipa is still a servant.

Vic's refusal to see that Bruno is way worse than she wants to believe made sense when they were children, but considering how both Bruno and Raquel act, at this point her refusal can only be deliberate blindness. I guess this is why she doesn't have any friends her own age, because those friends would have been able to make her look at what she's been avoiding seeing.

Hombre de Misterio: The only thing Ulises has going for him as far as I am concerned is that he is tall. Just looking at him makes me want to hit him. He just reeks of sleazoid and I bet he turns out to be just that.

Connie thanks for the great recap. As Diana said, you've become a natural rather quickly. I know Paula gets on your nerves but she was precious last night.

Wm Levy is a real tom cat. He has children with Elizabeth Gutiérrez & had (has) a thing going with Bracamontes.

As for the comment Paula made to Raquel in one of the promos promoting Sortilegio. Raquel was talking to Maura about how rich and handsome and intelligent Alejandro was and Maura response was isn't he your step brother. Roberto also has made comments to Raquel about feelings towards Alex. Which is another reason why dopey Victoria should have told them truth a long time ago.

Can we start the rest of the novela with the love scene between Alex and MJ.

I don't like him either. He's almost as sleazy as Pimp Daddy. Just a little bit taller.

I do have to say I appreciated Paula in this episode. She's not my favorite but I was hopeing she'd come away with a big chunk of hair. Why do women always grab hair anyway? Because we know it hurts maybe? I read somewhere that sex offenders look for victims with long hair or hair in a poneytail or bun so they can easily get control of the victim. Not sure if that is really true or not but it makes sense.

Ummm...no celeb gossip here. Blogmaster's rule.

I'm enjoying the juicy gossip as much as everyone else, but just a reminder - I don't think we're supposed to discuss the actors' private lives here ... one of our blog mom's rules.

Thanks Diana in MA. I knew I'd seen him somewhere. I didn't watch QE a lot but it was on before FELS I think so I'd watch maybe 5 minutes or so. You're right about his face--happy, sad, surprised, in love----all the same. Kind of like Chuck Norris.

We don't do celebrity gossip here, it interferes with some readers' enjoyment of the show as it is. There are plenty of places to read and exchange gossip, just - not here. Anything that comes out of your head or can be seen on the screen (not advance material from youtube etc) is fair game.

Guilty as charged. Wanted to answer Ann's question quickly, but opened a can of worms. :)

Oh dear, another faux pas
Lo siento mucho

Thanks, Connie. Wow..That was quite an Ice Capades moment, no ? Chantal Andere is a master at bringing the crazy and the nasty. In the scene where she and Robertooo are argiung behind the bar and he manhandles her a bit, I thought it was pretty funny when she threw the nuts at him . She does seem to be the type of gal who always tries to get the last word in ...or throw the nuts as she exits stage left. Nice touch. The new guy gives me the creeps. I don't think he's handsome but rather odd looking , and I hope that my telenovio Marcelo [Robertooo] is not gay, but I've noticed that he wears a lot of lilac and pink dress shirts. We don't know much about Robertooo except that 1] He doesn't work, and 2] He doesn't sleep with his wife. Now, I want all you ladies to think back to that first time....Are you remembering ?...So, did any of you receive 4 dozen longstem roses the next morning ? That Al is smooth. As for MJ and the sheets...Did she consider what the maids might think when they found the wet sheet in her room ? I like the actress playing Al's secretary. In Alborada, I felt really bad for her because she played Diego's bride , and on the noche de boda he announced that he wasn't physically ''up to'' consummating the marriage because she was fat and ugly. Harsh .

I love the secretary formerly known as Lulu. Seems like a big step up for her to be Al's secretary rather than whiny Miss Centro Universo's receptionist on Tontas! Looks like she gets to be competent and respected here, too, rather than the constant whipping girl.

I was thinking MJ hung the sheet off the balcony to dry.

Susanlynn- No long stem roses, but it was Peace Corps, and the young man in question made me a fantastic "American" meal and the next day. :) Just as good as roses- a taste of home.

I am so curious, where were you?

I loved DC, had only passed though before. it is a wonderful city, BUT it was the coldest weather since 1921 & the Florida girl almost froze my nalgas off.

To all,

Sorry for my faux pas....

Ann-NYC

Variopinta- I was in Haiti, so the tagline "the toughest job you'll ever love" really applied. DC has the highest concentration of returned peace corps volunteers. We're a dime a dozen here. It also doesn't get terribly cold too often, but occasionally some bad weather will catch you by surprise. It is a beautiful city though. ;)

-Vivi in DC

Loved the recap. Roberto's eyes did light up when he saw Ulysses step out of the taxi. That would certainly be a interesting turn of events. I'm wondering if Bruno is behind MJ's father being beaten up. The previews for tonight's show looks scorching. So how long will it take before Vicky and Fernando admit their attraction to each other.

Muchas gracias for the great recap, Connie! There was some dialogue I didn't catch last night, and you helped me out a lot. And you had me cracking up with your wittisms. LOL

MJ and Alex had me chuckling (AFTER I finished ogling his bare legs in that bed) with that morning after scene. She couldn't fool me. Yeah, it was a shock to her that she hadn't saved herself for marriage, but her real angst in my opinion came from the fact that she couldn't believe how good and right it felt to do Alex. She was just trying to reconcile both sides and make it all right, with all that water. (sure enough, after a commercial or two, she had snapped out of the stupor and had found her balance. That new dress she had on really looked good on her) Poor Alex felt so bad standing outside that shower LOL

At first, I was sure Bruno beat the crap out of Papi. So I appreciate the info about Rufino. Thanks!

Yeah, Bobo and Ulysses did seem a lot chummy, didn't they? :) Ho, ho, ho.

Raquel was in rare form, even for herself. What a headcase. I felt like I was watching another version of Taming of the Shrew. (This is a compliment to the actress. She is playing the hell out of this part.)

Loved the Cat Fight o-Rama at the ice rink. Paula done good.

Great comments, mates. Y'all have said it all, pretty much!

Vivi hey neighbor.

I thought it was funny tha tErik and the other guy were pulling paula's and Raquel's legs during the ice catfight. You could see it from the bird's eye view.

Ibarramedia

The ice rink scene was funny. I'm surprised Raquel didn't hit Paula in the knees with a stick.

I got full breakfasts in bed and other such goodies throughout the day during a three-year relationship with a chef. Heheh. Supper wasn't so bad, either.

Yeah, Ibarramedia--at one point, during the leg-pulling, with those shorts on, Paula was almost showing "London" and "France" with her legs over her head like that. ROFL

Gosh Stephe...have you worked that real life experience into a novel? I know you're a writer, and I'm thinking I might like to look for your books, amiga.

JudyB... okay, I admit it, yeah. My characters do have fun at times. And my writers' group does too. Ha.

O.O

Vivi in DC...
Washington, DC... political capital of the United States, parking ticket capital of the World.
Traffic Circles less than fun too.
Diplomats in cars are no bueno tambien.
On a scale of 1 - 10, DC's a 5.

Sorry, JudyB! I didn't finish my reply...

I have a few stories in a local anthology currently, but no novels out yet. I'll let you know when I get published nationally, amiga. Two publishers in NY have my first fantasy novel and I'm waiting to see if either will buy it--fingers crossed. While they're pussy-footing around up there, I've got to get marketing the dark paranormal thing I just finished.

Thanks for the kind words--you're a sweetheart.

When Pedro and his partner had their bonfire of contraband, they forgot about the trafficantes who fronted the goods to them. They must have been pissed when they found out what happened and tuned-up Pedro and his partner in response.

Ulysses is probably an international male prostitute who will sweeten the plot with Raquel, Roberto and Bruno.

Luckily I didn't have a car in DC, but I think it is a wonderful city. Always sth to do & all the attractions are free, so a good place to take the kids. I found it easy to get around on the metro, once I got the hang of it. A very vibrant city, wish I had had more time.
I would think it's great for young single girls, so many good-looking men, suits, ties, yum.

Great, Stephe. I'll look forward to the day when you do get published. Ever since that head>>desk head>>desk head>>desj quip on Cuidado, I've been thinking I want to read your books.

LOL i dont know why Alex's "it's normal" just makes me laugh...it's cute how he tries to reassure her but funny at the same time.

Anon 6:51, give DC a chance. :)

Ibarramedia, how close are you? Inside the Beltway?

-Vivi in DC

There's not enough action to drive the story. It disappoints me that I'm not fully engaged in this story. There's almost no chemistry between the two leads.

Maria Jose (Mary Jo) could stand under a clothes line to get out of the rain.

the acting is terrible but william is the best to look at. maria jose is rather annoying though with her back and forth.and i did feel they rushes the sex way to fast.and what the hell is with them playing the same song for the love scene and opening and just about everything on this show? i swear it lists like 10 songs in the credits but only plays one. lol

Anon, loosen up and tell us how you really feel about this show.

Carlos

We got robbed again by the fcc with editing of the making love scene between MJ and alex go to youtube and get the whole scene intact. I really don't understand the hangup if you can show Jimmy smit and hes behind on NYPD and his partner what his name. Why can't we see William behind? I'm really it was tastefully done.

V mentions to Felipa later that she wrote the book years ago. So, yes, she was the author. Strange that she didn't have even one copy of it!

Though I think WL is super hot in this telenovela....I think he is smiling too much in some of these sex scenes. I also get the feeling that these guys are truly enjoying filming these sex scenes. I've been watching these TNs for about 8 years now and these scenes feel subtly different to me....like these two guys are doing more than acting....just a feeling!

Vivi, I'm in Silver Spring,md most of my family is at Lansdowne, Va. I'm a creature of the suburbs and WheneverI had to go to the district on business, It costs me $20 a day to park my car.

And yes we have the worst traffic in the nation. Worse than Los Angeles and Atlanta. Every year it has gotten worse. Even at 5-6am.

Looks like you guys are right about Roberto being possibly gay. His friend Ulysses must be his uh significant other. Raquel may walk in on them and all hell breaks loose.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia- Hello neighbor! I'm just down the way on the red line in Brookland. Why are you driving if you live in Silver Spring? Take Metro and don't worry about it. :) I have never owned a car until a week ago, and get around just fine.

-Vivi in DC

YES! Now that you mention it, the way Roberto lit up upon seeing Ulysses was NOTABLE.....beyond a heterosexual type "so glad to see you!" We'll see. What a strange life....sitting around doing nothing every day and clubbing every night....

Vivi,
I know the trend these days is to be green and and all of that energy saving good stuff. But, my life is complicated. I'm all over the place. Going to Lansdowne, Virginia in Loudon County is at least 50 miles away. Sometimes, I could be in Gaithersburg, or Deep south in PG county like Fort Washingotn and Oxon Hill. All over the Baltimore/Washington Metropolis.

I want to come and go as I please. Not restricted by Metro Bus and rail schedules. I want to stow my gear in the car and not carry them with me all over the place. When I buy stuff, I ccan store them in the car. Last but not least, I enjoy driving my cars. Just not a fan of traffic. Thanks God ours is not as bad as Cairo, Egypt or Bombay or is it Mumbai, India. Even Mexico City, DF and Manila are not as bad as Cairo's but I will settle for wide open spaces where I can just zip by the beltway or any other freeway. I know, I'm selfish. But like I said, I'm complicated. ;) :)

Ibarramedia

There are people like that in the US too. Only they are super wealthy, with inherited wealth. VH1 did a show a few years back, I forgot the name of it. But you had all these rich kids carousing around all day, clubbing at night, getting smashed, spending lots of money.

During my college years, I was at clubs most nights. But that was because we were djing parties in clubs and universities. The socializing came with it.

Even if no one discussed the possibility of Roberto being gay, The scen with him meeting his buddy would have been a big clue to me that he might be gay.

We have to wonder what Raquel liked in Roberto besides his family connections. I'm sure there were other guys with family connections too. Not just him. I guess that will be another mystery. Then again the co-dependents will probably be too busy with their boyfriend and brother/half-brother incestous lusting to care about each other.

Now about Paula, Maybe she won't hook up with Bruno because he is too hang up on her sister. but maybe she might hook up with pimp daddy Erik. She has been spending a lot of time with the pedo scumbag anyway.

Ibarramedia

Ay! No Ibarramedia. Not Erik! Eww! Paula is too young and too cute for that. She also seems to be clueless that he has the hots for her. She's pretty insightful and observant when it comes to other people, but seems to have a blind spot with Erik.

And, I understand people's love of their cars. It's just never been my thing, and I'm from L.A.! Lol!

-Vivi in DC

Just finished this and the comments. Loved the snark. Lots of fun to read your stuff, Connie.
