Sortilegio #30, Tuesday, November 17: I am the dread Mario Aguirre…there will be no survivors!

Fernando, aka Mr. Too Little Too Late, tries to use logic to convince Alex that maybe the whole Mario-Aguirre-renting-the-room scenario needs some questioning. Alex says he's already kicked them out. So maybe he should make sure it's justified, then? Alex just sits there looking tortured. Or maybe thinking "you couldn't have copped this attitude before I kicked them out?"

MaryJo shows the fam their new digs. Paula is not pleased, but MaryJo tells her to suck it up since getting kicked out was her fault. Paula stomps off. MaryJo and Pedro both say they'd rather go back to Saqui, but that will have to wait until they find out what's going to happen with Paula. MaryJo explains that she only ordered them breakfast and dinner to help save money. Pedro notices that MaryJo looks pale. She blames it on being tired. He's tired too and his knee is bothering him, so he's going to freshen up and then rest. MaryJo leaves and Pedro puts his head in his hands.

Mercedes and her brother (whose name I can't remember) start spinning their tale to the cops. Bro's doing most of the spinning. He says he was out on that street two days ago, at night, maybe around 9. He was dropping off a girl he met in the mercado (could mean marketplace, grocery store, strip mall, just depends). No, not a "señorita de familia" (rich girl), a girl from the not-so-rich neighborhood right nearby. But he didn't walk her to her house because she had a jealous brother, yeah, that's it. Her name…um…Marianela or Anabella maybe…uh, the neighborhood, not sure he remembers which one exactly. But no, he swears he only had two beers, that's all. And then he was walking back home and a car ran him over. Make? Model? Color? Plate number? No, sorry, he really didn't see. Couldn't see if it was a man or a woman driving either, or how many people, you know, cause of the street lights. The cop is frustrated that he really can't tell them anything. Mercedes pipes up and says look, her brother is hurt, and someone has to pay, don't they? The cop asks if they can at least say where on the road this happened.

Paula complains some more about the rat hole they're in. She does at least blame herself for it, but now MaryJo says there were a lot of reasons for them being kicked out. But, hey, they've been poor before and they know how to do this, right? *sigh*

Erick's cousin gripes Mercedes' brother out for being an idiot. He didn't give the cops enough details to connect him to the girl who was supposed to have run him over. So now that guy's going to want his money back. They should have done what they were supposed to, blah, blah, blah. Mercedes is so over it. She's getting a taxi and taking her brother to a hospital. She brushes off the question of how she's going to give the money back if she does that. She goes off to the corner to get a taxi and Erick's cousin says to his wife that he warned them not to mess with "those people." Woo hoo, new depths of tantrum-throwing and threatening from Bruno.

Ulises pumps iron and talks on his cell phone. Maura wants him to remind their Mario Aguirre to call MaryJo and throw another log on the fire. She reminds him she's paying, so he agrees, against his, uh, better judgment. He leaves a message for Mateo to call him ASAP. Then he says "to hell with this" and pumps some more iron.

Raquel gleefully shows Robert the latest headline about scandal in the Lombardo family. Roberto is so over it. Raquel is upset that everyone is going to think they're like "those people." Roberto sagely asks her who keeps leaking all this fabulous information to the press as he walks off. Raquel asks him where he's going. He keeps walking as he says "A ti que te importa?" (what does it matter to you?). Raquel steams and calls Ulises to gossip with him. He commiserates and says he knows how she must feel. Raquel complains some more about how everyone's been gossiping about them since the Samaniegos showed up. If by everyone you mean you and Maura and Lisette, sure. She wants to see him later for some physical consolation. Ulises is repelled by her Eau de Clingy. Finally she wears him down. Man. Gigolo-ing ain't easy.

The lawyer goes to Alex's office to tell him that they found the guy who got run over.

At the hospital, the doctor reminds Mercedes and her Bro that he's got a lesion on his hip (?) and the head of the femur is cracked and he'd need a hip replacement. But in all likelihood he won't be back at 100% after just one surgery. And he'll walk again, but he'll need some physical therapy. Well, sign me up, doc, and let's get this over with! The doc leaves to start making arrangements to have him admitted and get the pre-op bloodwork done. As he's leaving Mercedes ecstatically cries that she's got the money right here. The doc grins uncomfortably and shuts the door. Bro is worried about what's going to happen to "that girl" but Mercedes is sure she's just some rich girl who'll get out on bail and nothing will happen to her. Hm…do I hear wedding bells for Paula and Bro? Just a guess that one day he'll tell her he was so worried about "that girl" but he never dreamed it was her, etc.

The lawyer tells Alex that the guy's report was very vague and in fact, the only thing connecting him to the accident Paula had was the date, time, and place. The lawyer had already given the cops Alex's info as the person who would be responsible for any fines, hospital fees, etc. All Alex needs to do is sign some paper and then Paula's home free. Alex asks when he has to sign as ominous music plays. Oh, come on, he's not going to back out now, sound people, and you're not going to convince me otherwise.

MaryJo and Paula walk through a plaza. MaryJo wants to go down to the police station and inform them of their new address. But Paula is too chicken and is worried they might have changed their minds and will lock her up after all. MaryJo tells her to quit whining like a little girl…and then she gets dizzy. Paula walks her to a bench to sit down. Paula has put 2+2 together, and unlike everybody else on this show, doesn't think it adds up to the square root of pi. She knows where babies come from and she's guessing MaryJo has one on the way. MaryJo finally admits it to someone other than herself, but swears that if Paula tells anyone, even their dad, MaryJo will take off and not tell anyone where she's going. What's she going to say, "Yeah, dad, I've just been so depressed about Alex that I've put on some weight?"

Mateo finally calls Ulises back. His orders are to call MaryJo from a pay phone and gripe her out for not going to the motel and then threaten her and say he's going to tell everything he knows about her. Mateo rolls his eyes, but finds a pay phone right away to get it over with.

Ezequiel answers the phone as Victoria is walking in. When she hears that it's Mario Aguirre on the phone, she takes the call and informs him that MaryJo doesn't live there anymore. Mateo is surprised. Ezequiel, trying to score points, tells Victoria that this time there's no number on caller ID, but last time he used a cell phone and Ezequiel wrote down the number. Vicky would like to see it.

Mateo passes on the news. Ulises is surprised. He hmms like it's interesting that Mateo heard it from Victoria Lombardo.

Ezequiel shows the number to Victoria as Bruno walks in. She's all excited to show the number to Bruno. He takes the page out of Ezequiel's book, says he's going to track down Mario Aguirre, and says not to tell Alex. He's out the door before he can tell Vicky why. Ezequiel begs to differ, but he thinks that Alex should be told. Vicky looks worried. I could say something nasty about Vicky and her attitude toward a lot of things that isn't what I think it should be, but I won't. Y'all will take care of that for me in the comments. I'm just going to sit here and fume quietly. Heifer.

Short pointless convo between MaryJo and Paula again about dad being tired, MaryJo being pregnant, and her not wanting Alex to know. Again, heifer.

At the police station, MaryJo and Paula tell the guy at the desk that Paula is out on bail and is here to inform them of a change of her address. The guy tells them to wait. As they go to get some water, Paula notices Alex. He and MaryJo stare at each other while the drippy music plays. She walks off to avoid him, but Paula says hi to him. Paula tells them that they're there about the change of address. The lawyer is surprised to hear it. He breaks the news that the guy Paula hit has been found. Paula is afraid this means jail. Alex leaves the lawyer to explain it to her as he goes to have a probably fruitless and frustrating conversation with MaryJo. MaryJo tries to give him the brush-off, but he just has one question to ask. He wants to know how she got the hotel room key, but she's not going to tell him again. She's sure everybody is happy now, thinking that Bruno is innocent and that she was lying all along. She throws his "I never want to see you again" back in his face. She tells him that if he's so sure she was lying, he should just turn her in now, after all they are in a police station. He won't do it, though. She laughs that it would be another scandal for the famous Lombardo family. But he says that's not it. She tries to leave, but he wants her new address since he's at least going to have to find her to finalize the divorce. She gives him the name of the alleged rat hole they're living in and says something about it being a rat hole like they deserve. Now she gets to leave and he gets to furrow his brow.

Bruno calls Mateo. He lets him know that he paid a pretty penny to Mateo's cell phone carrier to find out his name and address. He also knows that Mat has been calling the Lombardo house claiming to be Mario Aguirre. He assumes someone has been paying Mat to pretend to be Mario and Bruno wants to offer him double if Mat will play for Team Bruno. We hear Mat squeak "double" through the phone before Bruno gets in his car, hangs up on him, and drives away.

Alex goes down to the hotel to give back the key and interrogate the desk clerk. He gets basically the same story Fernando did. Mario made the reservation, sent someone to pay in cash, was given the key a day early because he'd already paid, but never showed up.

Paula tells Pedro that Alex signed, so she's free, but she has to come back every week for two months. She complains that she's not going to move back to Saqui and take the freakin' bus every week, nu-uh, no way! MaryJo's emotional pendulum has swung back to bitch and she tells Paula that's too damn bad, this is all her fault and they're sure as hell not going to waste the little money they've got living in the pensión without having jobs. And they're not going to get jobs just for two months so that Princess here doesn't have to take a bus. Me. Ow. Pedro offers to take the bus with Paula, but it depends on how his knee is doing. Paula starts to say that if MaryJo had just told Alex…but MaryJo shuts her up and says Paula wanted her to beg Alex. Well, no way to that, Pedro agrees. He asks about the guy who got hit and Paula tells him that St Alex-of-the-steamy-showers will be paying for all the medical expenses. Well, he's a good man, that Alex. MaryJo mourns that he just never believed in her. She's sure that Pedro and Paula had a good time in Candyland, but that's all over now. They'll leave tomorrow. Pedro just wants to make one last stop at the house to say goodbye to Chucho.

Paula and MaryJo retire to their graffiti-ed room ("Carla was here 2009", oh really?) and continue their ongoing argument. It boils down to: MaryJo is in love with Alex; MaryJo is hurt that Alex didn't trust her and said nasty things to her; no one is to know that MaryJo is pregnant; Paula thinks MaryJo is stupid and should just tell Alex she's having his baby.

Mateo, aka Fake!Mario, calls Bruno from his cell. Bruno tells him to walk into the restaurant facing him. They hang up. Bruno calls Erick and tells him to get a move on finding MaryJo, but forget about Mario Aguirre, cause that's already taken care of.

Yay! Ceci's back! I love this actress. I think she was last Florencia's sister on Guapos. Before that she was Ceci on Amar Sin Limites. So, this is Katia, Fernando's sister. And she really, really, wants to go to the Lombardo house to say hi to everyone and see if Alex and Bruno are as handsome as ever. On hearing that Alex got married, and not to Maura, she shifts her sights to Bruno. Ew. She doesn't want to talk about what happened with school, cause it will ruin her homecoming. Fer gives in to her whininess and says they'll go over to the Lombardo's, but just for a little while.

Bruno and Fake!Mario have a meeting. Bruno demands absolute loyalty and silence, and no, he won't pay up front. He threatens to turn Fake!Mario in for identity theft if he doesn't talk. Fake!Mario tells Bruno how the whole thing started. Bruno seems pleased with the explanation. Fake!Mario almost kind of made it sound like Roberto was in on it, based on him being at that party with Maura and Ulises.

Alex tries to go and talk to Mercedes' brother, but he's intercepted by Erick's cousin's wife, who tells him that Gabriel (that's the brother's name) isn't there because he's at who knows what hospital getting an operation on his leg. Alex is a little suspicious that they would have the money for that, but what's-her-face says maybe they borrowed it or something.

Bruno's orders are thus: to Ulises, Maura, et al, Fake!Mario is now dead--he may not speak to them again; since they never knew where he lived he is to go back home; Bruno will be taking Fake!Mario's current cell phone; Fake!Mario will be taking a large wad of cash to buy himself a new one; Erick will go to Fake!Mario's house tomorrow (aha! Never asked for the address, though!) to give Fake!Mario 500 thousand pesos, as he will continue to do every month that Fake!Mario is working for Bruno; for now, Fake!Mario is to get a new cell phone and give that number to Erick, then he is to await further orders. And who is this man who is giving Mateo his orders now? Bruno smiles and says "Mario Aguirre." har, har, har. Mat digs it.

Vicky is happy to see Katia. Vicky still remembers her as a little girl. Fer outs her for whining to be brought over the whole way from the airport. Katia says that they were like her second family after their parents died. Katia runs out to go say hi to Raquel and Roberto. Fer tells Vicky that he doesn't know why Katia is back so early since they haven't had a chance to talk yet. Vicky spouts some crap about being patient. Fer thinks she needs a mother's touch. Vicky says moms aren't all they're cracked up to be. Now she wants to know how Alex is doing. Fer thinks Alex is sad and has never been in love like this before. Vicky tells him about Mario Aguirre's cell number. Fer thinks it's suspicious that Bruno took it and doesn't want anyone to tell Alex. Vicky says maybe Bruno just wanted to keep Alex from getting upset again. I can almost see the light bulb go on as Fernando asks, "really? Is that really what you think is going on?" The reigning Queen of Denial says "Well, what other explanation is there?"

Raquel and Roberto ooh and aah over how big Katia has gotten since the last time they saw her. Roberto seems especially pleased. Raquel can't wait to tell Katia all the gossip. Roberto tries to cut her off, saying there's really nothing to tell, but Raquel insists "Alex's fake marriage, that drunken dad, and you think that's nothing?!" Roberto rolls his eyes as Katia looks more confused than intrigued. For someone who gripes and complains about all the gossip, it seems to me that Raquel is doing the most spreading it around.

Alex shows up at the hospital, looking for Gabriel. Mercedes hears him ask at the desk and tells him that she's Gabriel's sister. Alex tells her he's a family member of the woman who ran her brother over and that he's going to pay for all of Gabriel's medical treatment. She falls all over herself thanking him, especially after he brushes off her assertion that just the room would cost an eye out of his head. Alex asks to see Gabriel. Mercedes takes him to Gabriel's room and introduces them, explaining that Alex is paying for everything. Gabe also whines about how expensive it all is. Alex tells him he's sure everything will turn out fine. Alex tells them that "the girl" is out on bail. Gabe is happy to hear it. Alex and Mercedes start to leave to go give Alex's credit card number to administration or whoever. Gabe tells him to tell "the girl" that he's sorry. Alex is suspicious. "Isn't she the one who should be apologizing to you?" "Oh, uh, yeah I guess." They leave.

At the house, Chucho is in the kitchen, mourning the loss of his bosses. One of the maids tells him to help her peel potatoes so he doesn't get bored. Not gonna happen. He only peeled potatoes in the army. The phone rings and since Ezequiel is taking drinks to Raquel's visitors, Chucho answers it. It's MaryJo, calling to give him the address so that he can come visit Pedro. He doesn't write, so he can't write down the address, but he can remember it. As she's telling him, she faints. Paula comes running over as Chucho keeps calling her through the phone. MaryJo isn't coming around. Paula shouts for help.

Mercedes tells Gabriel that she feels terrible. She can see that Alex is good people. Gabriel tells her to give the money back to that other guy, that if he'd known good people were going to get hurt, he never would have lied in the first place. Mercedes says it's a done deal. She also wants to give the guy his money back, but she doesn't know where to find him. Gabriel reasons that Gregorio and his cousin Erick must know.

MaryJo applies a cool compress and continues to blame her fainting on the heat. The lady who runs the pensión tells her to go rest and she'll bring up some tea. Paula keeps mocking her for blaming it on the heat.

Felipa is also happy to see Katia. Roberto points out that he and Katia can play tennis, since Raquel sucks at it. Bruno comes in and actually, for once, is happy about something not evil. He picks Katia up and swings her around. Roberto teases her for cheating on him so soon, but Katia says there's enough of her to go around. Ok. Ezequiel brings in appetizers. Raquel goes off to meet Ulises, but she lies about it. She makes a date with Katia to go dancing tomorrow. Fernando tells Katia it's time for them to go, too. She wants to wait and see Alex, but he insists. Katia says he's going to interrogate her now. She says he's grumpy and that's why he's never gotten married. Fernando very pointedly doesn't look at Vicky. And Vicky barely looks at him. Katia says her goodbyes to all the males. Fer says goodbye to Vicky, who asks him to call her. Bruno gives Fernando a nasty look, then turns it on his mother. Well, there's the Bruno we all know and loathe. Unfortunately that's where my DVR cuts off.

Okay, two more weeks of this and then I get my Tuesday nights back :) I'm feeling a little light on the vocab and the literal translations, but you'll survive. I won't go so far as to say I've finally learned how to summarize, but I'm getting there!

LOL couldn't help myself...had to read before I went off to bed. Thanks for the great recap, Kat! Love how fast you post it, girl.

Very funny lines throughout. Liked: Paula walks her to a bench to sit down. Paula has put 2+2 together, and unlike everybody else on this show, doesn't think it adds up to the square root of pi.

Fer-dumbo's sister is sort of skanky, isn't she? She acts kind of Raquel-like...ew

Thought Alex face was so sad when he tried to tell MJ it wasn't like that. I know he told her he did everything for his family, but I don't like her acting like he kicked her out because of his pride. He did it because he felt betrayed. Anyways, I'm seriously off to bed now. Good night and talk to you guys in the morning. :-) Thanks again for a great recap.

Great recap, 5ft Latina (aka Kat)! It's especially welcome because I have made the decision that it's better for all around if I not watch any scenes that involve Bruno unless he's getting beaten up or any where Vic is being enabled, so I've been changing the channel a lot.

I did happen to switch back just before the end of tonight's episode and I have the feeling Vic's idiot boy toy's sister is going to go on the list of people I can't stand either. Anyone who actually likes Raquel and Maura and wants to hang around with them has already demonstrated extremely poor taste. (Even Vic and Bruno don't like hanging out with Raquel, which really says a lot.)

Anyway, I was just getting the remote to change channels again so I wouldn't have to see any more of Vic and her idiot boy to than I had to (I could almost forgive Bruno his rudeness to the idiot boy toy. Almost) when the scene mercifully changed to outside of the manse. Alex swoops up in his convertible and Eziquiel finally did something half-right for a change. (If he had done something completely right, he would have told Alex about the cell phone number after he first got it instead of waiting until Vic could blab about it to Bruno.) He is outside the manse, on hand to greet Mr Alex as he comes home. At first all he does is tell about how Vic's idiot boy toy brought his little sister by to visit and how nice it was to see her. Alex more or less yeah, yeah's him and asks him if he can give Alex a list of everyone who came and went from the manse on whatever day it was the hotel clerk told him the key was picked up. Eziquiel tells him he can certainly give Alex such a list and Alex is about to head into the manse when Eziquiel says he's got something else he wants to tell Alex about. Then says that even though he was ordered not to say a word about it to Alex, he thinks Alex should know that the other day Mario Aguirre called from a cell phone instead of a pay phone and he wrote down the number. Alex wants the number, but Eziquiel explains about how he doesn't have it any more because of Vic and Bruno.

Bruno is in his room, busily deleting things from his cell phone and I am reaching for the remote once again when Alex knocks and tells Bruno he wants to speak with him. This gives Bruno time to hide his cell phone before letting Alex in. Alex confronts him about the piece of paper and Bruno claims he took it so that he could spare his poor half-brother the trouble by confronting Mario Aguirre himself and telling him to leave MJ alone. Alex sneers in disbelief and demands Bruno give him the number. Bruno hands the paper over since he doesn't need it anymore, telling Alex that he won't do him any good: Bruno already called the number and found out it's disconnected.

Previews for tomorrow say something about how the show is on fire now and show Paula yelling that MJ is pregnant. Then the voice over says something about Alex and MJ having a heart to heart conversation (or WTTE) that we won't want to miss. We see Alex sitting on MJ's bed in MJ's ratty new room with a sort of tender look on his face. I don't remember now, but there may also have been some mention of watching out for Bruno's evil deeds, but this is not news.

Prediction (not a spoiler): Alex and MJ have the promised heart to heart but any potential reconciliation will be ruined by Fake!Mario's arrival.

Thanks Kat, you had lots of funny one/two liners.

I like that Roberto notices many of the small things, which any 'real' person would. Like, who called the press about Paula. And even though Paula is immature, she gets it - that MJ should tell Alex the truth.

Finally Ezequial is being partly responsible and loyal to Alex by giving him information about the Mario phone calls - but late.

It's irritating that MJ never apologized for her part in the problems. Her repeated lying is the major reason for Alex asking them to leave. It comes across that MJ is faultless and a victim, which isn't true or appealing. I also don't like that MJ uses the class/money thing to throw in Alex's face, like he owes her something. As when she says she's going back to the rathole they deserve to live in. They don't 'deserve' a rathole any more than they 'deserve' a mansion...

Great recap. What? You're leaving us? Did I know about that??? I watched a lot of the show last night. Liked the way MJ reamed Alex out, I think he deserves it.

In view of the law of conservation of actors, is it possible the nice run-over-boy-with-scruples is going to end up falling for Paula?

5ft~~~I love your recaps. They always start my day with a giggle. I took notes . Here's a few of your gems that I especially enjoyed : '' St. Alex-of-the-steamy-shower''....''Eau de Clingy''....''Gigoling ain't easy''....''We hear Mateo squeak 'double' '' Love your style, girl. Thanks so much for giving me a fun start to my day. Now, I'm off to work. p.s. Katia will be an interesting spice added to this bubbling pot . I, too, thought that Gabriel [the injured guy] might end up with Paula. If so, maybe Katia will end up with Robert o o .

Mrs. 5ft, " Ulises is repelled by her Eau de Clingy. Finally she wears him down. Man. Gigolo-ing ain't easy." Susanlynn beat me to the draw, that was my favorite of all your great lines. Is Mr. 5 ft. watching Sorti with you this time, or is he watching games, games and more games?

I have been very annoyed with MJ and her total lack of honesty, but last night it was Sr. Alex's turn to annoy me. First of all, like any good crime show watcher, I know that MOTIVE is important is solving "crimes". Alex, what is MJ's motive in all this? She DOESN"T want your money and didn't really want YOU until you pursued her relentlessly (and who could resist this guy!) If the truth be told, you got her drunk on wine before the "first time". How could she be having an "affair" or what ever with Mario Aguirre, she was house bound, no car, no job and no cell. Alex, you have complete control of the land line phone, get the records! When you came home, if she wasn't in her room, she was ALWAYS with her papi. She DID NOT want her family to move in, YOU invited them, bad idea. When you kicked her out, she left quickly and quietly. She turned over papers to the "apartment" to pay you back. Yes, she has been than truthful, but some people don't like to be FALSELY accused day in and day out, and you know what Alex. when angry, you have a scary, in you face way about you. Alex, sweet thing, think about YOUR family history. The real bad GUY is living in your house and deep down you know it!!

Now, I feel better...

As usual, a great recap with some wonderful snarky comments..."heifers"!
Sort of a transitional episode today and more than tolerable amounts of whining from all concerned. I agree we more than likely will see poor hurt brother(is it Gabe?) stick around in some capacity. He didn't get hit by that truck for now reason. right?
And of course, we were treated to the train wreck of a dillusional mother known as Victoria. It is TOTALLY understandable why her ever-loving twins turned out to be the selfish nut jobs that they are. When a little light bulb even goes off over puppy Fernando (oh but he does look good without his shirt), you know she's just not reasoning with a full deck.
Could have done without the MJ/paula conversations...so much filler, but they need to knock us over the head that MJ is preggers, blah blah.
as for Katya, do we see a T for trouble etch on that forehead? Bruno looked like a snake ready to devour it's prey when he looked at her...you could just hear his little brain working "aha! a way to get back at goodie goodie Fernando!" And he was none too happy at the interchange between Fer and mumsy. Bobo noticed it too...but I still think he'll be one of the good guys in this.
as for Rack and Uli...just yuk!

Thanks for the recap Kat. Your recaps always start my day off with a smile. Heifers---loved it. I've used that expression on numerous occasions.

Is it possible that MJ is pregnant with twins?
I noticed while Bruno was in the Mall there were twin brothers behind him, and the fact that Uli keep asking about someone that looks like MJ maybe twins run in her family.

¿5ft, por gué no más los martes?

Yep, I see Paula & Gabriel, I guess I can say that since others have. Was thinking that a couple of days ago, but was afraid to predict.

Everyone thinks Roberto would be good for someone, but don't forget he is married to probably the most annoying character in this TN.

Once again, women faint from being pregnant?????? Nauseous yes, but faint, how many of you ever fainted? Apparently TN writers aren't women or don't have children.

Mateo get in trouble for identity theft??????? Stealing the identity of non-existent person?????

For once Bruno laughed, that's different.

Just checked in on this while minding my line. Not to worry Melinama, Variopinta etc. I think what Kat meant was her play rehearsals will be over and she'll have more time to enjoy Sortilegio and less stress ripping out a recap.

Great one, by the way. As always. You on Sortilegio and Julia on ENDA make a great breakfast for me on Wednesday mornings.

Thanks for the recap Kat. While I don't want to speak for you, I think you are referencing your play not leaving us but correct me if I'm wrong.

It's so funny to me when people outside of my immediate family use heifer, ha.

MJ and Alex - mistakes were made on both sides but things will be better if you two are on the same team.

I too was shocked that Bruno actually was happy to see someone not connected to evil. Unfortunately I don't think that bodes well for Katia.

I think MJ fainted because of a combination of things- being pregnant, stress, the heat (we keep seeing sweaty shirts on our actors), and lack of food. They are only paying for 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner. I've never been pregnant, but surely pregnant women need to eat more than that.

I am in the camp that thinks that wrongs have been done on both MJ's and Alex's side and I don't think one is worse than the other. On one side there have been multiple incidents of witholding info due to threats or attempting to protect her family; on the other there have been numerous instances of manipulation, jealousy, mistrust and being controlling. Now there's anger and sadness on both sides. Yes, Alex has a right to know she's having his baby. But the way things are between them now, Alex would probably demand a paternity test from her, and that would really tick her off! I mean, how many times does she have to tell him that he was her first and only?

-Vivi in DC

Vivi,

Why do you say things so much better than I do? And to make matters worse, your punctuation is flawless!

Lol Sandy! :)

I just got lucky with the punctuation today. ;-)

-Vivi in DC

Kat - thank you for the recap. I understood more than I realized.
"St. Alex-of-the-steamy-shower" and "Gigolo-ing ain't easy" are priceless!

What is wrong that that guy's legs, that they need surgery? I probably FFWD-> that part in a previous capítulo.

Sandy in TN - I'll bet Vivi in DC has read "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" After I read it,I was paranoid about my punctuation. See??? I've edited that last sentence 3x already. Ack. (being an English minor doesn't help either.)

Doris, I think they said he was hit by a truck or something. So technically he was hit by a vehicle.....but still...He seems like a whiney baby if you ask me.

Leaving? No. I have theater rehearsals on Tuesday nights, and almost every other for the next 2 weeks, then the show starts and I won't have rehearsals to worry about anymore and can concentrate on snark :)

Doris, I've read "Eats, Shoots and Leaves," fun book. If you majored in English, where did you learn Spanish?

As I said once before, but it bears repeating, I started watching novelas to improve my Spanish, but after Caray, Caray,I now feel that both my Spanish AND English need improvement!

On a post yesterday about Alex being a social snob, or something to that effect, I've never seen one ounce of snobbery in his behavior. Hombre, I think that was your thought, where have you seen that, just wondering?

TG 5ft, I'd sure miss your humor.

I don't recall seeing Carlos on here for awhile.

Thanks for the funny recap! Love all the comments and insights into people from you guys.

While to some extent I understand MJ's fear and being in such a strange situation, I think there is something wrong with her that she won't reveal things even to people who could help her. I find it extremely frustrating when she is so upset, something is clearly wrong, but she refuses to talk about it even to Paula. Huge trust issue. What does she think she is going to do all by herself? and she won't abandon her family anyway. It doesn't make much sense to me that she married Bruno in the first place - but I missed that part of the show.

I think Katia looks like trouble. But it was good to see Bruno actually be friendly for once.

I found the great fotos of WL on Quién.com
Click on fotos at the top, then search William Levy & you will get them. Enjoy!

Some people just feel that they must carry the weight of the world on their shoulders either to protect themselves or their family from being hurt (mentally or physically) even when they know darn well they should ask for help.

Bruno seems like he can be nice when he needs to be to accomplish a task maybe thats why MJ married him (fake alex).

Alex is pissing me off to the highest level of pissivity with his love you hate you moments. In the previews he seem quite happy to find out that MJ is expecting
did he just forget everything that happened that day her leaving the mansion and him grabbing her at the police statiion. Do he expect her to reverse her emotions as quickly as he does? ugh!! I hate this show. Just needed to vent. I love this show.

Great recap, Kat!

Yeah, the fainting in the early weeks of pregnancy thing is SO stale.

I guess I don't understand Bruno's plot. Alex already believed the Mario Aguirre story and booted MJ and her family out. Why does he need to now keep Mateo on retainer?

I sure hope we're done with Erick's cousin and the annoying wife. They're not even related to Gabriel and his sister yet feel perfectly entitled to rant on and on (until I FF) about how Gabriel should be doing exactly as Bruno said to do.

I also think Katia is going to be trouble. She seems a bit like Paula to me, dying to insert herself into the rich folks' house.

I'm pretty sure that the avances showed Paula spilling the beans about the pregnancy to Alex. Of course, if MJ is preggers for sure then that would help avert the nightmare scenario of the identical twin taking her place. Unless she uses the belly pads I've seen in other fake pregnancies!

I usually record this show to watch on the weekends so I'm behind the times, but I can never wait to read the recaps. They are so funny.

I've never been pregnant, but my older sister fainted multiple times when she was pregnant. It's not JUST a telenovela myth. Telenovela ladies never seem to vomit more than once or twice, though, which seems completely unrealistic based on all the complaining I hear from friends and family.

Kat, thanks for the excellent recap.

Sandy, I do think Alex is a little snobby, although not as much as the others in his family. He acts rich, dresses rich, orders people around, throws his ample money around. He just seems to be "talking down" to those not in his circle. It may be just my perception, though, I may be seeing something that's not really there.

Kat - thank you so much for "St. Alex-of-the-steamy-shower" -- I'll never be able to see Alex/William again without thinking of this nickname!! Can't imagine how much better snark you can provide but look forward to reading your full-blast snark after your play debuts!!

Agree with Ivy, it was good to see Bruno nice to someone (Katia) and it didn't seem to be with an ulterior motive. Outside of comic books, villans can't be 100% bad JMHO!

Superficial comment of the day -- Loved, loved, the look on Alex's face when he sees MJ in the jail before he & the lawyer go talk to Paula!!

Thanks again for the outstanding recap Kat!!

I'm going to go against my boy Alex and agree with some of what Hombre says about his "acting rich." As someone who grew up poor and then got the opportunity to go to a rich high school, I experienced the snobs like Maura and Raquel who were just outright mean. But I also experienced people like Alex, who felt they were so open-minded and good and expressed that by throwing their money around to those "less fortunate." But what they didn't understand is that poor people have dignity too, just like they do, and aren't always looking for a handout. Most times all people want is mutual understanding (really try to understand my circumstances and resulting actions), to be treated fairly and equally, and to work together towards something- not to just have it handed to them. I don't think Alex has understood that about MJ or any of the other poor folks that he has come in contact with. Yes, he has treated them with kindness and been generous financially. But when the crap hit the fan, he reverted to the stereotypes he has always heard about "those kind of people"- showing he hasn't really gotten to know them as people at all.

Doris and Sandy- I did read "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" long ago. :)

-Vivi in DC

Ivy- They never showed much of the Bruno/MJ courtship, but it's clear that Bruno can be charming when he chooses to. We just always see him in his scheming/mad dog moods.

It seems like MJ treats both Paula and Papa Pedro like her children, and you don't tell your children all the unpleasant things that are happening if you can help it. Instead you shield them from it. When I saw Pedro crying on that balcony, I thought, it's all your fault for not being pro-active and protecting your girls. Even with an injured knee, he should have been looking out for MJ and Paula, and not the other way around.

-Vivi in DC

Thank you, 5ft. Funny about Uli comment "Gigolo-ing is hard work..."

Cielo, did you see the look of "please help me" on Alex's face when Fer told him he should investigate the key thing further? And the other look of "what have I done" after MJ ran away on him at the police station? I love how Levy can do that "look thing" and convey so much emotion even though there's no dialog. His eyes & face are very expressive without over acting.

Speaking of over acting, someone tell Pedro & Paula that they don't have to over cry and over screech so much. We get their point. Acting is not supposed to be like acting at all so that we'll believe them.

Thanks everyone,
J.

Thanks Kat for another A+ recap. Even though I enjoyed the episode, your recap puts it in words that I can understand.

Many moons ago when I was a young girl, I remember a song we sang in church. It only had one word, that was "Amen." The melody was beautiful and always left me feeling uplifted as if truer words were never spoken.

Anyway, I felt a great AMEN when I read the comments left by Sandy in TN 08:26 which shed a lot of light from MJ's perspective. I couldn't have said it better so I'll just say AMEN to your comments!

Vivi in DC 10:30 AM, your comments are icing on the cake and another AMEN. Both parties share the blame for what went wrong in the relationship.

Like a lot of you, I'm not crazy about MJ, but I try to be open minded and fair when casting blame.

Those of you who do a lot of fast forwarding just might get a one sided view of the entire situation.

Vivi, Alex definetely thinks he can force his wealth on people, but I don't know for me, it's not an act of snobbery. It's like this sympathy or maybe even to some extent a feeling of responsibility in some regards. I guess I understand what you mean though. It can seem like an "I'm sure you can't do this without me" attitude, and while he is appearing like that to MJ, from the inside, we all--including MJ--know that he's helping because he loves MJ. He doesn't want her to suffer. It's just really hard for me to see him as the one at fault. Yeah, he has his anger and trust problems, but as soon as he sees a conflict, he wants to help and fix it. Damn, that makes him sound like an imperialist when I think about it. That is not how I want to portray him, but for now that's all I got. :)

The only one that I can see that is not looking for handouts is MJ, but she is his wife, so he can't have her
"sin quinto".
Paula, Roberto, Gabriel seem happy with the handouts. Bruno is only mad because he wants to be controlling the dinero.
Alex is rich, powerful & generous. I think we had this same discussion about Eduardo in MEPS. Lots of rich people out there that are very stingy.

Jenny, I know what you mean. He's looking so helpless. It pains me. Though he is partly at fault for his pain as well as MJ, he is definetely doing a fantastic job of getting my sympathy and love.

Variopinta, I still haven't seen the pics but will get to them within the next hour for sure. :)

Cielo- I am totally gaga for Alex too (great acting WL), so I have a hard time being hard on him. But I refuse to be Vivi- Queen of Denial, and must point out where I see fault. Well, at least until he turns on that smile and starts undressing MJ again... ;)

-Vivi in DC

You know, Vivi, I haven't seen MEPS, but I saw CCEA, as I'm sure everyone knows by now, and I think all these rich heroes have some sort of an odd logic. Juan Miguel was "I'll just marry all of the unfortunate girls I encounter," while Alex is more, "I'll just shower my wealth on the world.". The characters are maybe setting standards for themselves that are outrageous, but they, nonetheless, think they must live up to.

LOL, I think I'm doing a horrible job of getting my thoughts in words. Thanks for bearing with me.

Lol! The hero in Cuidado did seem to think he could cure all women on this earth with his love. Everytime I checked in, it seemed he was engaged or married to someone new. The hero in MEPS was not rich (just had access to a lot of money to initiate his schemes). He started out poor and acted a lot like MJ in this novela (keeping secrets and playing the martyr all the time). We were frustrated with him too, but the ladies here were definitely easier on him than we are on MJ.

-Vivi in DC

Hey, Anon, where are you today? Just one post if I'm not mistaken. And no Stephe either...miss you gals! :) looking forward to reading your opinions!

I agree that mistakes have been made by both MJ and Alex and the main issue is trust. I'm not upset with MJ for not telling Alex she's pregnant. After he gave he the third degree of when her cycle started when he was her first I would be leery of telling him I'm pregnant too. He probably will accuse her of being pregnant by the infamous Mario Aguirre. The actors must be doing something right to have me this frustrated LOL. I too loved MJ telling Alex off LOL.

OK, now I'm really going to be corny....I think it is a tribute to the writers and direction of this production that there are TWO SIDES TO THE STORY. This is what real life is all about, shades of grey. Yes, there are most likely some Barbara Grecos (MEPS) and Brunos out there somewhere, but the vast majority of people fall somewhere in the middle. Sortilegio, for the most part, is made up of characters that WE ALL KNOW! The exceptions to this prove the rule.

Joann, thanks, and we sang Amen too.

"Vivi, Queen of Denial" Vivi, please don't mention your name and Victoria's in the same sentence!

Hombre, yes, I see what what you meant, Alex feels a kind of privileged superiority, and yes. that is a form of snobbery. As you might guess, most of the Caray Caray gals love him anyway!!

Connie - thanks for the explanation about leg surgery guy. He does seem whiney, but I think he's in a LOT of pain, maybe broken legs?, so he gets a pass from me. ;o)

Sandy in TN - five years of Spanish (8th - 12th grade) and then almost 30 years of non-usage, so I forgot most of it. Starting in 1999, I took classes at TFLI for a few years. It was so nice back then, when they had classes out here in the suburbs. I even took two quarters of German. I won't go to night classes at Pkwy Twrs, so my formal education stopped.

Variopinta, I'm all smiles after seeing the pictures!
;-) ;-) ;-)

Sandy and Pirate Babe are also with you, Vivi...damn, you guys have really got me thinking now...am I so shallow that I support Alex in everything just 'cause I can't get over his beauty!? LOL...hmmm...Now I think I need some time to myself to consider the question: Why is it to hard for me to see him as a snob?

Cielo- Don't think about it too hard (just keep looking at those WL pics). People's gut reactions is what makes this site so fun.

-Vivi in DC

As much as some people are knocking Alex for throwing around his money. I don't get it, the money he gave Ruffino was to protect Pedro he could have just sent his driver but Alex went himself. Confronted him face to face.

The watch he gave Chucho was for saving his life and helping him. When Chucho got arrested for trying to sell the watch. alex bailed him out and gave him money to compensate him for the watch.

Since he knew he would probably be arrested again for trying to sell the watch again.

The money he gave MJ he told her to spend as an allowance for her family. I don't see how he's trying to put them anyone down because of his wealth.

We didn't see Vicki or Bruno trying to help out MJ and her family.

All Alex tried to do is help MJ's family because he knows how much they mean to her. In order for her not to be worried about them and stressing over them. Is another reason he bought them to live at Merida.

Ferdumbo you and the mother of denial are a piece of work. You're all late with your advice, I said last week why isn't anyone questioning how MJ came about getting the hotel key. Since she hardly ever leaves the house or go outside of the house.

Vicki why can't you keep your big fat denial mouth shut. Now i know where Raquel gets her gossiping gene from.

Ferdumbo tell your sister to use some makeup. Cielo de Levy you're right she does look skanky. It would serve you right if she hooks up with Bruno.

From the way they were acting towards each other. How you were looking at both of them i hope it happens.

OMG, I'm the Queen of Denial, aren't I? That's what I get for bad-mouthing Victoria so much...lol who was it the other day who said Victoria is so dumb she has to wear a necklace that says Victoria so she won't forget her name...? I got a henna tattoo the other day, and I had the girl right my name on my hand. Oh boy, I'm turning into my worst nightmare...

LOL, yaaay, Anon is here! Your reasoning skills are better than mine. I needed you to spell everything out for me. Thanks!

I guess Alex is kind of a snob in a way or he feels himself superior. He probably feels that if he doesn't shower his money on people, they won't survice.

There is also an argument that he is not a snob because he doesn't mind hanging out with the servants. He kisses Felipa on the cheek a lot and puts his arms around EZ whenever they are around each other. He loves Chucho who is kinda considered the lowest in the totem pole of the servants.

Cielo, I guess that's why it's hard to consider him a snob. He does seem like he believes himself to be superior though. But I believe it too. I guess I'm dazzled by his eyelashes too much to see anything bad in him.

J.

Ah, Kat! What a title. LOL! Poi-fect. And your recap just sings. OH, the wonderful, wonderful snark. ROFL

Seriously, Ferdumbo? The Fake!Mario bidnez needs some questioning now, after you took the ball and RAN with it? *speechless with disgust*

Poor Team Mexitrash. You are so slipping--you didn't even know MJ had left the Manse. And now your Ace In The Hole has been snatched right out from under you by El Bruno. Amateurs.

Could "Merida" possibly loosely translate as "HeiferLand"? 'Cause a heck of a lot of them live there, at least six at last count.

Okay, poor Gabriel's injuries are up high, where the hips go into the legs, and the tops of his thigh bone. Yet I could swear last week Meche had smeared all this green goop over his legs below the knees. And bandaged him below the knees. ??? (Good going with the po-pos, by the way, Gabe. At least now there's one other male on this show who already has a conscience and doesn't need to grow one, yo.)

MaryJo finally admits it to someone other than herself, but swears that if Paula tells anyone, even their dad, MaryJo will take off and not tell anyone where she's going. Well that makes a hell of a lot of sense coming out of your mouth--not.

[comment interlude, sung to the tune of You Are So Beautiful (To Me) by Joe Cocker:
"You are... so dead to me... Vic-kyyyyy... hmmm, hmmm, hmmm, mmm-mmm-mmm..."]

Okay, I'm back.

Pobrecito de Alex. MJ drives the man to drink, yet he still has compassion for her. Just stop it, Al. You're better off on your own right now. Let her stew in her own juices for a while.

Well, he's a good man, that Alex. MaryJo mourns that he just never believed in her. 'Cause you never gave him a reason to, dumbkoff. Don't make me come over there.

Oh, dear. Another addition to the Ferdumbo gene pool, and right off the bat, Katia acts as shallow and trendy-fied as the Mexitrash clan. This girl is going to be trouble. Hopefully I'm wrong. But I feel a headache coming on. (I am looking forward to seeing what the actress can do, Kat, what with your excitement over her joing the cast.)

This El Bruno/Fake!Mario union is going to be so much worse than Team Mexitrash/Fake!Mario. OMG. This is really bad!

Mmmm. Yes. I can see Gabe and Paula trying to get together. And Katia blowing that all to hell, possibly. Hm.

And now, must go read all of your comments! Good Wednesday, mates.

During my first divorce someone told me that each person is 100% responsible for their part. I didn't get it at the time but it makes sense if you think about it. Each are at fault in this situation. MJ lies and Alex jumps to conclusions and accuses her of messing around with this Faux Mario. I can see each person's perspective on the situation. If they would just be honest with each other the show would be over in a week!

I cant see Alex as a snob but he does try to please everyone by either giving them money or fixing their problems with money the complete opposite of Bruno who use money to control people. The problem with MJ for them is that she doesnt want to be bought or controlled. Maybe Alex and Bruno need to learn that money cant buy you love.

Cielo de Levy never compare yourself to that heifer Vicki. I just can't stand her, finally her boy toy starts growing a pair and asks her why would Bruno not want Alex to know about Mario Aguirre cell phone number.

This is one of the main reason i can't stand this pathetic bitch. Anytime someone even tries to say something different than what she wants to believe about Bruno. She either quickly says i don't want to hear it.

She starts making that person try to see her reality of the situation. She does not deal in reality, her main concern right now should be Alex's mental state concerning his breakup with MJ. Not giving Bruno Mario's cell nimber, why didn't she give it to her boy toy to check out instead.

She's useless.

I'm not calling Alex a snob (that applies to Maura and Raquel), but I don't think he sees or treats these poor folks as equals, and he hasn't really taken the time to get to know them. I think since he has known Felipa his whole life, and she has a very unique place in the family, he sees her more like a grandmother. He treats Zeke like the srevant he is. A cherished servant, but a servant (and there's nothing wrong with that, because that's what he is).

But consider this example. If he had fallen in love with a girl of his own class, how would he have treated or approached her father? Once he knew he was in love with MJ, and also knew the whole truth about how they became trapped by Bruno, shouldn't he have had a man to man talk with Pedro? Shouldn't he have come to Pedro humbly and said, I love your daughter, I want to take care of her, I'd like your blessing. Let's work together to get through this thing because I would like for her family to be my family. But he just assumes that all of this is hunky dory and they should be happy to have a rich son-in-law with no other questions asked. I just don't think he would have acted the same with a father-in-law of his same class.

-Vivi in DC

Vivi our hero has to have some flaws.

LOL, I thank God for you guys (Stephe and Anon). The rest of you guys too, just had to say it to the two who are Alexaholics like myself.

Lol Ebony! I know. I just want to make sure our criticism of the heroine and hero is fair and balanced, and that all the blame isn't laid on one side. :)

But you are all free to keep supporting your telenovio unconditionally. He's my telenovio too. I'm just a bad girlfriend. ;-)

-Vivi in DC

LOL, Vivi I like to hear it that way...we're all his gfs. :-)

I am in the camp that thinks that wrongs have been done on both MJ's and Alex's side and I don't think one is worse than the other. I do have to agree there, Vivi--wrongs galore on both sides. They both need to get it together.

How many times does she have to keep saying he was her first? Well, by that same token, how many times does he have to swear he loves her and keep proving it by gettin her family out of trouble? How many times? Every other day his face is beaten up from protecting her honor or Paula's honor and even Vicky's honor from El Bruno.

And I think we keep forgetting that MJ came into the house under false pretenses (not her own, but false nonetheless), with Alex fresh back from an attempt on his life. That is what started this whole mess. Why shouldn't he have trust issues, same as her?

Alex and MJ are together responsible for the problems. And I still love both of the characters, but Alex more than MJ.

Since Pedro doesn't act much like the father you described Vivi i think that's why Alex didn't come to him in that way. Shouldn't Pedro have come to Alex and ask what are your true intentions towards my daughter.

Remember when Bruno snuck the family away from Maura's party. Then they were staying at the hotel waiting to get passports. Pedro over heard Paula and MJ talking about him selling illegal goods.

That's why they had to leave with Bruno and do as he says.Pedro being ashamed for putting his daughters in this predicament left.
He then called Alex and told him where they are staying.

He also told Alex to take good care of MJ she wasn't at fault. He was the problem, so maybe in a sense Alex feels he was already given Pedro blessings to be with MJ.

I still don't see how he acts superior over people who work for him.He doesn't treat Ferdumbo that way, look how many times Ferdumbo has betrayed him.

He treats Mari his secretary well. So i just don't see what you're saying so we will agree to disagree on this matter.

Stephe lol Heiferland indeed.

Poor MJ, Alex doesn't trust you well girl let's examine your self inflicted behavior for one. Whether you believe you did not deserve someone like Alex or not. When you kept hiding the truth and being forthright with him we all saw this coming.

When you tried to tell on the night he had enough it was too late. The man was going to move out of his family house house and move his company for you too.

You have the nerve to say that bitch please talk to the hand.

Alexaholics...ha...good one !!! Also, I remember someone using the term ''heifer'' during another novela...maybe Pasion . Was it you Stephe or Connie ??? I really got a kick out of it because growing up on a farm, I only knew of the term as applied to livesstock [heifer = a cow that has not had a calf]. I've enjoyed the interesting debate on Alex. I am becoming a big fan even though I prefer my telenovios with dark hair. Alex's acting and appearance is stunning. Do they paint on his clothing ? I've never seen business suits worn that TIGHT.

Anon: You have the nerve to say that bitch please talk to the hand

Hahahaha! :-)

Interesting discussion on snobbery, y'all! Coolness.

Let me add my humble opinion to it.

The definition of a snob is someone who disdains those considered inferior, somebody who looks down on people considered to have inferior knowledge or tastes. Seriously, Alejandro Lombardo? Alex is a product of his environment. When you grow up rich, how do you not act rich? When you're a boss, how do you not act like you're a boss? Should he pitch a tent in the yard behind the Manse and cook his own meals over an open fire despite having millions in the bank, or something? Who would do that? Not me. (Reminds me of a girl I knew once, who considered Oprah conceited and "trying to act white" because she was always slinging her hair out of her face. I said noooo, she slings her hair out of her face simply because it's in her eyes and she can't see. Hello.)

I agree that he throws money around a heck of a lot, more than he should, but I think that is a result of the Lombardo Leeches and woman like RaMaura showing him over the years that that's all he's good for to them. I think that's his way of telling himself he is worth something, by rescuing people no matter how much the cost. A person with little familial love is going to ache to get it from somewhere else. And I think if he didn't have a dime to his name, he would be trying to save people anyway and be up to his neck in debt doing it, because it's just his personality. He hates seeing suffering and wrongdoing to those who can't protect themselves from a big bad wolf, because when he was a kid no would save him from his big bad wolf--Bruno.

If Alex didn't help people out with his money, everyone would be like, damn he's stingy.

And no, this is not because I want to jump Levy's bones. I am an equal opportunity basher and I will ream Alex out like anyone else if he deserves it. Pshaw.

Hey, Cielo! Just got caught up in life and such the past few days and couldn't get on Caray until late. I'll try to do better. :)

Stephe, :-) :-) :-)

nicely said!

Susanlynn, that was me! Bwahahaha.

That heifer Estephania had my name and I was NOT pleased. To have the same name as a flying monkey--grrrr. :)

[He hates seeing suffering and wrongdoing to those who can't protect themselves from a big bad wolf, because when he was a kid no would save him from his big bad wolf--Bruno.]

I meant no one would save him. Typo! Sorry.

Stephe you're a riot and i totally agree with you about Alex. At least he doesn't act like Bruno or Raquel.
I really don't know what people expect from Alex. I like how you put everything in it's own perspective. Bruno is throwing around money too, look how he acts with people.

I take a friend or boss like Alex any day.

Totally OT OT OT:

Nice pics of Levy on Quien. I loved Big Ed Yanez's pics there, too. And it was pretty interesting to come across Jacky's little brother, Jesus. He has a ways to go, but he's kind of cute, with that smolder factor. Mmm.

Anon 7:09... My best friend was saying the other day that she's relatively close with her boss, and that if he kept coming into the office every two or three days with fresh bruises all over his face, she'd have him a conference room really quickly. And be all like, "Man, what the hell's going on in your HOUSE??" LOL! She had me cracking up.

I'm wondering why the writers haven't slipped any inkling of Mari being somewhat concerned about Alex obviously "fight clubbing" after hours.

yes, Bruno wants to control the money. He doesn't seem to realize that without Alex 'working' for the money, there will be no money.

They're both 100% responsible for their own failings. However, today is MJ's turn for me to pick on her. Which I've already done.

I don't see Alex as a snob. He gives what he has, which is a lot. He doesn't have to give anything to anybody, but he's generous - to a fault. Some people may make their judgments based on their perspective of money and how it should be spent. He's confident and assertive, not aloof or superior. He relates to people on a personal level, not on what can they do for me, or what can I do for them. He does have a big heart and will fill a need when he sees one, or has a responsibility to it.

Oh Comadre Stephe, you are so right, so fine and so funny...
jb

Hi, jb! I hope your week's going well.

It's just that I've never seen him talk "down," pull rank, or whatever you want to call it, on anyone unless they had done something morally suspect to another human being. It certainly had nothing to do with anybody's station. When he was doing all that investigating of his "wedding," he didn't march up to poorer people on the street and identify himself as someone of importance so they would answer his questions. He just said Excuse me, but can you give me any info about such and such." They didn't know him from Adam. He was a person and they were a person. Whatever.

He doesn't talk down to Zeke and other Lombardo servants--he expects them to do their job because they're getting paid for that. Like a boss. But with great caring for their health and welfare.

He has more money than he could ever spend by himself, just sitting and gathering interest, when it could be going to someone who needs it instead. I would think that the fact that he doesn't hoard it all to himself like some creep, and that he acts like it has little value to him, would endear him to people instead of the opposite.

Oh well, I've beaten that dead horse. LOL

Comadre jb, I don't know if you've been watching the local news, but the repo man who was killed was one of my son's dearest friends, and my play-son back when they were growing up together. If they hadn't finally caught the shooter yesterday, I don't know what I would have done... :(

Stephe, I'm so sad to hear that you knew him so well. I did see the news and was glad that they caught the guy. What a coward. I hope they throw away the key...
jb
