En Nombre del Amor, December 3, 2009--Get Me to the Wedding in Time

Sorry for the late notice but I'm unwell tonite and can't do a recap right now--will try to update sometime tomorrow.

Update: Here's the recap, and thanks again everyone for your patience and for pitching in.

Repeat of Alonso talking with Natalia about Paloma--he understands now why Inaki fell in love with her. He also mentions that if they need to seek justice re: Inaki’s death, he’ll do it, and if he finds proof of anything, he’ll be relentless.

Camila sees Samuel and Carlota talking on the street—he’s trying to ask her out—and wonders what he’s up to. She doesn’t like the two of them together.

Orlando whines to Angelica about he’s jealous that Camila is going to the convention, and Rafael will surely be there. Angelica worries that he’s so insecure when his marriage with Camila is already a done deal.

Rafa asks Joel if Camila has accepted the invitation to the convention. No, not yet. Well, you’re going to have to pressure her, replies Rafa. Joel doesn’t think that’s a good idea but Rafa insists that he try at the wedding today.

Carlota is on the phone with Paloma’s fake dad--she deposited an advance in the account and when she finds out that he did his job, she’ll deposit the rest.

Rufi is with Edmundo’s granddaughter who’s trying to call the Espinosa house, but the line is busy. Rufi is anxious to speak with Paloma and tell her that she’ll be back in a few days.

Carlota informs Pal that she located her father and he’s going to talk with Padre Juan Cristobal. Pal is sure that PJC will be disillusioned with her father just as she was. And with she hopes PJC will forget about her father, as she would like to do. She wants to get away from the past and hopes she’s not going to find out about anything else . . . or is there anything she should know? No, of course not, lies Carlota. Carlota promises that Pal isn’t alone and she’ll always be there for her.

PJC tells Orlando he doesn’t agree with the Emiliano-Romina marriage because it’s full of blackmail and manipulation. He also says that he’ll be late to the wedding because he has an important appointment with the guy who says he’s Pal’s father.

Romina, appropriately adorned in a tiara to reflect her ME-ME-ME diva complex, complains to the hairdresser that her hair looks horrible. She goes into the bathroom and finds blood running down her leg. She immediately dials Carlota911 to ask for help--she can’t lose the baby before the wedding, or else Emil won’t marry her. Carlota tells her to calm down and rest as much as she can and she’ll try to find out if there’s something she can take to stop the bleeding.

Rafa tells Emil that he’s really proud of him and he knows he’s making a huge sacrifice. I think Emil says he wouldn’t be half the man he is if not for Rafa.

Paloma takes the dolls from her dollhouse (Inaki, Emiliano, and Romina), says goodbye and puts them in her treasure box (is that Mac’s box?). She cries that it hurts as much to lose Emiliano as it does to lose Romina--she was more than a friend, she was a sister for Pal.

Carlota is on the phone trying to get info on some medicine for Romi.

Roberto (Samuel’s ex-roommate) calls Alonso with news about Inaki’s investigation into Pal’s inheritance--it was handled by Luis Duarte. Pal’s parents weren’t in debt, and Carlota sold their house. Also, Pal was the beneficiary of Sagrario’s investments/accounts.

Carlota calls Romi to tell her that she’s sending over the medicine. When Camila comes in Romi pretends that she’s dizzy and nauseous. Camila suggests they postpone the wedding but of course Romi says no way.

Paloma comes downstairs in her new look and Carlota asks why the change. Pal says she’s not a little girl anymore and doesn’t want anyone to remember the good Pal, the one who suffers and is unhappy. Carlota doesn’t like the new clothes. On their way out Carlota comments that Pal’s new hairdo reminds her of Macarena.

Romi whines some more that she looks pale, terrible, etc. and shoots down Cami’s suggestion that her not feeling well is a sign she shouldn’t go through with the wedding.

Diana shows up and informs Emil that Romina invited her. Emil pulls her aside and when she tells him he can ask for anything from her, he says, then give my dad (Rafa) a divorce. Just then Samuel arrives.

PJC leaves for Pachuca with some guy (I think he works at the church?).

The wedding ceremony starts. Angelica notices blood on Romi’s dress and informs Camila. Camila yells out “you’re bleeding!” and everyone stands around looking dramatic while Hitchcock-ian suspense music plays.

Everyone yells at Romi to see a doctor but she insists that they continue with the ceremony. Emil and Cami try to drag her toward the stairs and Samuel tells her he will ask the judge to wait, so she finally relents. Mientras tanto, Diana looks nervous and downs a couple drinks.

Carlota drives along while thinking that Pal will never be able to be happy with any man, she won’t allow it. Pal boo-hoos to herself about Emil.

Natalia sees Alonso working on his computer but he claims he’s just on the Internet. He asks about the guy who replaced Rojas (German), he couldn’t remember his name. Nat asks if he’s reached Carmen--he sent a message, so hopefully she checks her mail.

Liliana and friends greet Pal with flowers and lots of cheers. Carlota sighs and rolls her eyes.

Rufi calls the house and the new maid, Felipa, answers and explains that Carlota hired her because Rufi doesn’t work there anymore. Rufi’s surprised to hear this and asks to speak to La Loca, but she’s not home. Rufi tells Felipa to give Carlota the message that she’ll be back soon and if she’s going to fire her, she’ll have to do it herself.

Cami tells Romi her life and the baby’s could be in danger; their health should be her priority. But no, Romi continues to insist that her top priority is her wedding. Cami asks Romi if she was bleeding when she claimed earlier that she had called the doctor about being dizzy, but Romi denies it. Cami goes to call the doc but Romi tells her not to and confesses that she hadn’t called anyone earlier.

Pal tells Lili how Romi didn’t want to cancel the wedding even when Emil said he didn’t love her. Lili tries to encourage her to move on but Pal weeps that she can’t. I guess she has already forgotten the little speech she gave Carlota 15 minutes ago about wanting to change and not be a little girl anymore.

Downstairs at the Drama Queen’s house Diana and Ines are chatting. Diana says the wedding has to go on for the purposes of her plan of vengeance. She whispers something to Ines that we don’t hear--Ines' response is that she can’t be a witness to that. Diana is not going to take things lying down, what with Rafa in support of Emil being against her and all. Ines refuses to be Diana’s accomplice and walks off.

Carlota is bored at the art showing and tells Pal that the class of friends she invited turn her stomach, so Pal tries to defend. Then Pal mentions that some important painter gave everyone the opportunity to exhibit at this event, and shows Carlota one of his paintings. Pal thinks Mac would have liked to have seen this and gets sad that she, Rufi, and Emil aren’t there with her. Carlota takes this opportunity to remind Pal that she better forget about Emil, because married men are off limits.

German asks Emil if he’ll still marry Romi if she loses the baby, but Emil doesn’t want to think about that. German reminds Emil that one time he suggested Pal would be a good for German--after all, she has to remake her life with someone. Emil doesn’t like that idea and orders German to keep away from Pal. Dr. B. arrives and comments that he still needs German’s help and to let him know if he changes his mind. Emil asks what’s up and German replies that Dr. B. has a legal issue but he doesn’t want to get involved.

Liliana et al. try to cheer Pal up. Her teacher runs up all excited to tell her that someone is interested in her paintings, and something about he wants to give Pal an arts scholarship?

Dr. B. checks Romi. Cami goes to get the medicine from the pharmacy that Romi took earlier. Romi begs him to help save the baby.

Carlota is annoyed about the scholarship and argues with Pal. Yay, here comes Cesar Evora! He’s introduced as Eugenio Lizarde. He looks like he might be interested in Carlota.

So sorry to hear you're sick, Debbie. Feel better soon. Folks who watch this regularly can fill in the storyline. I"m sure no regular viewer wanted to miss the boda!

Debbie, I hope you are feeling better soon!

Yikes, outside of a few words, I speak no Spanish and don't have captions but I will try to share a few things that happened. Please correct me if what I've written is wrong. Here are a few highlilghts:

There is a very moving scene where Paloma removes several dolls from her doll house. First Inaki, then Emiliano and then Romina. Each is accompanied by flashbacks and we feel Paloma's pain as she says goodby to each in turn and then carefully places each figure into her memory box.

While dressing for the weddding, Romina starts bleeding. Although upset, she forges on with the wedding. During the ceremony, Angie notices that Romina has a spot on her gown and quietly brings it to Camila's attention. Camila wants to stop the wedding but Romina is frantically trying to proceed. After intervention from others, she agrees to go upstairs and the doctor is called.

Meanwhile, Paloma has a brand new, updated pretty look complete with bangs. She and Carlota take off for the art festival where she is enthusiastically greeted by a crowd of friends including Lili. The long awaited Cesar Evora arrives at the end and I got the impression that he was either interested in her as an artist or interested in purchasing her painting.

I'm on travel for work the next week and won't get to see next week's episodes. I'll look forward to catching up when I return.

Wasn't Romina dumb to be sitting in her wedding dress when she knew she was staining an was desparate to marry before she lost the baby?? But, then, this is a novela...

Feel better, Debbie.

Great job Diana. I don't speak Spanish either but somehow understand a bit and what you wrote (and very well, too) seems just about what happened.

Wasn'r Romina dumb to be sitting in her wedding dress especially since she was bleeding and was so desparate to marry before anyone knew she was losing the baby??? But, then, this is a novela...

Hi everyone, thank you for filling in and for the well wishes. I'm feeling better today so am going to try to put together a quick recap in the next couple of hours.

Dios mio could Camila been any more tactful in her handling of RoMEna's bleeding?

I can't wait for Diana to make a fool of herself when she begins to acuse Camila of being a husband stealing golfa. I dodn't think Carloca knew Diana was referring to Camila when she asked for her advice.

Paloma should be a guest on the TV show "What not to Wear".

~Caborita

Paloma came down the stairs with a new independent attitude, telling Carloca she was not going to suffer anymore. She was no longer a little girl either.

As soon as Miss Independence got out the door and look over to the caterers going into Camila's house.Little Miss Independence who declared five minutes ago her suffering was over. Was hit by a tidal wave.

On the drive to exhibition Miss Independence started crying and suffering over her lost love.

Meanwhile at casa it's all about RoMEna, when she noticed the bleeding she quickly dialed up Senorita Loca for adviced.

La Loca told her to get some medication to help stop the bleeding. Everyone waiting for RoMEna to come downstairs.

Emiliano confronted Diana, Diana started in but i'm your mother and i have a right to be here. Please forgive me I did everything for your sake.

Emiliano said he is willing to give Diaina another chance on the condition she gives Rafael his divorce. By the look on Diana face she doesn't like that choice at all.

RoMEna finally came down stairs with her mother and sleazy dad standing by her. Rafael standing by Emiliano the wedding ceremony was just starting.

Angie came up discreetly to tell Camila that she noticed the blood stain on the back of RoMEna dress. Camila in a panic told someone to call a doctor.

RoMEna totally and completely off her rocker now wanted the ceremony to continue. The way she way she was acting anyone with a bit of sanity would realize that this chick is not working with all cylinders.

Emiliano and Camila finally convice little La Loca to see a doctor.German calls Dr. Bermudez.

In RoMEna's bedroom Camila is telling RoMENa they should cancel the wedding for today, which makes Miss Desperate even more desperate.

I would just like to include when they told German to call a doctor they should have told him to call the guys with the straight jacket too.

Camila once again allows RoMEna to have her way and she wonders why her daughter has turned out this way.

Dr. Bermudez comes in and is told about RoMEna's condition, Dr. Bermudez then tells German about getting a blood sample from RoMena to confirm his suspicions.

Emiliano standing nearby over hears this and ask German what Dr. B meant by that. German acting all shifty eyed stammers nothing.
Emiliano looks like he isn't buying that answer though and he's suspecting German of not being truthful.

Dr. B checks RoMEna asking her questions and telling her toi calm down or she will really lose the baby.

Camila once again brings up the subject of canceling the wedding for today but RoMEna refuses especially since she believes this is her only shot of finnally getting her fantasy to come true with Emiliano.

Padre Cris calls a taxi to head to Pachua to meet up with Paloma fake dad.

Last night we saw the Cesar Evora role get introduced i did catch his name though. He seem very interested in La Loca.

Alonso got information from Samuel's former roommate about Paloma's inheritance. Samuel found out how rich Paloma really is .

The guy giving Alonso this info also told him the background of Paloma's adoptive parents. Javier and Sagario and the mystery between La Loca and Mac.

He told Alonso he is still trying to find out about that. He knows Sagario couldn't have children and how they moved to Real Del Monte after their fathers funeral permantly.

Caborita La Loca didn't know it was Camila that Diana was talking about. I don't think it would have made a difference with her though.

Debbie, I hope you feel better soon.

Diana and Anon - thanks for the info. It is puzzling that Romena can act so irrational and no one catch on this ...beanie time.

I wonder if Cesar Evora's character can distract La Loca from PJC?

The other big thing was that Germy told Emiliano he's interested in going after Paloma and Em had a cow. Germs, of course, now knows that Paloma is filthy rich.

I think everyone did notice how irrational Romina was acting. They just didn't know what to do. Qué awkward wedding!

Glad you're feeling better, Debbie.

Way to go Diana – you must have much more Spanish than you think! And thank you anon, too.

Debbie, I hope you’re feeling better!

Ann, I agree. Every woman watching probably was yelling at the set Don’t sit down, Romena! And on her bed, no less.

The writers have kept things so believable up until now that I was disappointed at a couple of things last night. The first was Romena’s bleeding, and sitting down, as we were talking about. The next is that Angie noticed she was bleeding, but when Romena walked up the stairs, her dress was fine and there was no blood on the floor. I can understand that they didn’t want to be gross, but they could have had someone throw a blanket over her or something.

Another gap was Paloma’s new look. We should have seen her out shopping for new clothes, and either cutting her own hair or getting it cut. I wonder which is her real-life hairdo. I’ve been wondering about why we never see a ponytail rubberband, so maybe she’s had a fall attached all this time. Or maybe the new ‘do is a wig. Anybody know how Allisson wears her hair in real life?

And yet another gap was that we’ve never seen Paloma give an art class, yet her impoverished students suddenly love her so much they all came to Pachuca… how? By bus?

Anyway, I sure was surprised by last night’s show. I didn’t expect a bleeding episode and I didn’t expect Paloma to have a haircut, and I didn’t expect Cesar Evora to show up at the art show. Never a dull moment!

Yes, RoMEna's power of denial is truly astounding, and she is incredibly stubborn. I couldn't believe she wasn't at all embarrassed about bleeding, as she clearly wasn't too worried about the bebe. Extremely awkward!

I loved that Carloca was taken by surprise by Pal's friends and then the Cesar character being so interested in Pal's artwork. Too many people around for her to run her trip with Pal.

Pretty intense episode, but with good things happening.

I love any sort of stick-it-to-Carlota scene, so the art show lovefest was fine with me.

I know Paloma hasn't know those students long, but I can believe Liliana would decide she needed some cheering up or at least a distraction and rally the students to be supportive. I assume Eric and Lili can both drive and have access to cars, so it's probably not a big deal to get everyone there.

Hope you feel better soon, Debbie. I've been down with a really rotten cold and didn't even turn on my computer yesterday.

That was certainly an interesting and action packed episode last night. Now I'm starting to wonder if Em and Ro will ever get married. Although, if they don't, the plot would take a very different tack. After all, the two love interests have to be kept apart until very, very late in Televisa novelas.

Carloca is so evil. She's kissy kissy with Paloma and telling her how she's always going to be there for her. Then she tries every trick in the book to undermine her at the art show, disparaging the art, insinuating that Paloma's paintings would be gifts to the famous painter. It was just killing her that Paloma was having such a success.

It looks like César is going to play a good character in this one. His strong personality even bowled over Carloca.

One more thing. I think Paloma's new hair is a wig. It looks much thicker, blacker and shinier than her own hair. Her own hair is black, but the new "look" doesn't look like real hair to me.

Also, Alysson may not have wanted bangs in real life

I may have something earlier -Who is Cesar Evora? Also, I thought it was strange with the miniature figures from the doll house - Is Paloma knew some good old voodoo maybe there could be some plot improvements!

Anon at 12:00 pm: César Evora is a well-respected veteran actor of many, many telenovelas. He often has a moustache and/or beard. He's done some spectacular villains: Abrazame Muy Fuerte, Mariana de la Noche come to mind.

In our current TN, he's just been introduced at the art show as the famous painter Eugenio Lizarde. Hope he's a good guy in this one. He was a priest in my very first TN: El Privilegio de Amar.

I agree with novelera--In the close-up it certainly looked like a wig. I think the idea was to make her look just like Macarena. Isn't the art show in Pachuca? Isn't PJC also going to Pachuca? Wait til he sees Paloma for the first time with her new haircut. I hope his questions to Fake Papa are enough to convince him this is an impersonator.

Debbie, thanks for recapping when you are under the weather...you are a trooper. And thanks to the others who filled in as well.

I completely missed the conversation about Dr. B, Germie and Romi's blood samples. That's important since Germie will be able to claim paternity in the future.

I was surprised by the hitch in the wedding....very clever of the writers since I was expecting the marriage to actually take place.

Pal's new look is thumbs down. She looks like she is 10 years old with that hairdo with the clip on the side, no less.

Diana's getting hammered on champagne...poor Camila.

GinCA

I'd forgotten about that little detail...but when I saw it, I wondered, "If Paloma wants to look all grown-up, why did she steal a plastic bow barrette from my four-year-old niece?"

Will Diana be the next to develop a drinking problem and benefit from PJC's program? Will he make her take art classes?

The puffy sleeves didn't help, either. It was a little more modern than what she was usually confined to wearing, though. Maybe she's supposed to be half-way between little girl and woman now? Lili and Romi dress pretty sexy most of the time, extremely so compared to Pal.

Yeah, I didn't catch what Germe said, either, so that was helpful. Hmmmm.

True, PJC was going to Pachuca, too. Wonder if he knows the Cesar character.

I also thought the dolls were strange, you have dolls of your friends you keep in a box? Voodoo for sure.

LOL Julia, alcoholism counseling for Di/Gud with PJC!

Tonight's episode should be explosive. I'm still under the weather and doubt I'll feel like extensive commenting as I've done the last couple of Fridays.

Anyone else want to post something?

If the director was a little more creative, we would have seen more of those dolls all along...the Paloma doll all dressed up for the ball with her prince of the moment, the Romina doll scrubbing the toilets, the Carlota doll falling down the stairs...

She put the dolls in the memory box because she was done with those people in her life (well, of course not, but she thinks so). Before, they were in the big doll house in her room, which is like the only thing Carlota let her save from her old life when Javier and Sagrario died.

I can understand she would have one from childhood of RoME, but when did she get them for Inaki and Emil?

The Romi version was more current, though, taller and with flipped-out hair, not child Romina's braids.

Maybe Paloma makes them when Carloca keeps her locked up in her room. They looked like kind of rough carved wood and paint; she is an artist and could have done that.

I don't recall Dr. B saying anything about blood samples, just that he needed German (to help him get the scoop on Javier's will)--did anyone else hear that?

I thought I heard him mention the will, but I wasn't paying close attention. Maybe he offered to try to get some blood that would allow him to do a paternity test for Germs, in exchange for the legal info. They had discussed such a deal before but Rodolfo didn't have access to a dna sample from the baby (and certainly wouldn't risk his reputation bribing the lab for anything, like Carlota did).
