Sortilegio December 17, 2009 If it Looks Like Sh!t, and Smells Like Sh!t, Then It's Probably Bruno.

From yesterday we have a replay of the meeting of the abogados. They will talk to the judge and try to delay the the proceeding for 2 weeks What with Raquel being in an accident and all and Alex not being there. MJ tells Bruno that if he did anything to Alex she will see that he spends the rest of his days in prison. Bruno tries to convince everyone present that MJ is crazy. Victoria steps in and says MJ is not crazy and she storms out too. The abogado asks Bruno if he wants to go ahead with the proceeding and he says no. After they leave Bruno asks Vicky if she is happy.

Today:
Our castaways (with pants on) are trying to make a raft. Sure doesn't look very sturdy to me. Maybe they should try a little harder.

Back at the Casa the abogados are talking as they wait for their car. The first one says that he thinks it's really strange that Bruno has given up the will contest #2 says he thinks so too. Hmmmm...The plot thickens.

Victoria pays MJ a visit in her room. MJ is still wound up from the meeting. She understands Victoria's pain as a mother but she has to understand her desperation. Vicky says she feels the same. Do you think it is easy for me to kiss my son when I think he is a monster? We don't even know that what he says is the truth. MJ is convinced that Bruno went there with the intention of killing Alex. Victoria thinks they don't really know that for sure. All they have are suspicions. She asks MJ to think about her father and her sister. Bruno can't be responsible for everything (?). MJ isn't having any of it. She's says there is no way that Bruno is innocent. Duh! Victoria says something behind her hand about Fernando and MJ says how is she supposed to think calmly when the man she loves could be dead. Vicky is convinced that they will be found. They have to have faith. Vicky goes on some more about the will contest and MJ says she doesn't care about it. She just wants Bruno to pay for what he's done. Vicky understands but MJ must think about this family because it is her family now too. Think about your sister and you. MJ says I will have patience and I will wait. And if he doesn't return I will get even. By whatever manner I will get even. Dun dun dun!

Back to the island Alex is thinking about MJ and all the good times they've had together. Ah, those were the days. Big sigh.. He promises that he will be back at her side.

In the hospital Her Royal Majesty is sitting on her throne—uh-a wheel chair and gives a snotty look at the nurse. In walks Bruno with a huge bouquet of roses. She is glad to see him and he gives her a kiss on the cheek. He says he was really worried about her and she thanks him for taking an interest in her. He says of course, she's his sister. He doesn't like her being alone. She says Roberto o o has been there but she wants to divorce his sorry a$$. He says yeah, he's pretty much a Loser. Princess whines that her mom isn't with her on the whole divorce issue. He wants to know if she has another. She looks impish and says yes (like it's a big secret). He pulls her closer and wants to know who it is. She says it's none other than our boy Useless. He laughs. Yeah, I'm laughing too. That's another loser with a capital L. Still laughing he says get out—no way! She says yes way and I'm expecting his baby. Bruno says he's with her on the divorce but he would like to ask her a favor. Uh oh! He wants her to get involved in the will contest She wants to know why he can't do it. He's having some problems with MJ and his mother. She is worried about the scandal it would cause (but she's really afraid of losing her money.) He clucks that annoying cluck that he does. He says it is too late regarding the scandal. It's already been in the papers and people are on our side. Then he adds that Alex has disappeared and might be dead so now is a good time to do it. Raquel is impactada. Bruno says he went on a trip and nobody knows what happened. They can't find him anywhere. She gets up from the wheelchair and he grabs her-- flowers. Silly me, I thought he was going to help her because of her injury. Think about your future. You could have a life far away from Roberto o o. She's still freaking out about Alex. He tells her it is a long story. Can I count on you? Yes or no? Hey, no pressure there. She says you can count on me but I want to know what happened to Alex.

Back on Sorti Island Ferdumbo is still working on he raft, Charlie is fishing and Alex is gathering. (Yep, pants are still on and are still the same color.)

Back to the hospital. Bruno says that Ferdumbo and Alex went on a trip to the Dominican Republic. Raquel asks why they went on this trip. Bruno says, duh, to kill me of course because of the Will. Raquel is beside herself. Bruno says they went out on a boat and something happened. Raquel is still skeptical and Bruno says they got the info from the travel agency. So, MJ and Victoria have made accusations against me so that is why I can't carry on with the Will contest. That is why I need you to do it. Raquel can't believe it and wants to know why no one will explain it to her. We are saved by Roberto o o who has come to take Raquel home. Bruno says he'll see them at home. Roberto o o has a funny look on his face and wants to know what is going on. She says my brother brought me flowers FF>> just a little.

Vicky asks EZ to find out from Mari whether the little heifer showed up at work today. He scampers off to do her bidding. Seriously, where can I get one of those? Meanwhile Vicky is calling the consulate. Ez is talking to Mari and asks if heifer-ho showed up at work today. Back to Vicky and the consulate. She is told that the Governor of Mexico won't intervene because Alex is a foreigner. They have to get permission from authorities in the DR to look for him. She then asks what Sherlock Mari said. Ez says that Miss High and Mighty didn't show up for work today. Work? Ez should have asked her if Katia showed up to talk-on-the-cell-phone-drink-coffee-and -spy -on-people. And she didn't even call to say she wasn't going to be there. And you are surprised because...? She asks for Ez to get the car. You know, I've tried to get the dogs to bring me my car but it just doesn't work. I started off with “get me some coffee” and when that didn't work I should have known better. She asks for MJ and Felipa says she is in her room. Go figure! Felipa and Vicky head out. MJ and Paula are coming down the stairs. The phone rings and MJ answers it. It is the lady from the travel agency. Great you know what that means—yep, more crying. MJ says she is the wife of Alex and what news do you have. Senora Maya says that they went out on a boat but didn't arrive at the place where the tour was and they didn't come back. Perhaps they are lost at sea. MJ thanks her for everything she is doing. Senora Maya says that Alex was looking for his brother Bruno.

MJ and Paula are being driven to the town. MJ is explaining about Alex looking for the judge that performed the fake marriage that Bruno paid off. MJ was afraid that Bruno was going there to kill him. Paula can't believe it. MJ is worried that Arturo is listening to what they are saying so she asks him to please not tell anyone what they have been discussing. Arturo reassures her that she can count on him. Paula asks about Erik and Arturo says that Alex canned him when he kicked out Bruno. MJ says that he must know many things. Arturo says yes I do. For instance he knows about Katia too. MJ wants to know what the scoop is on that. He says that the day Bruno came back Katia went to the hotel. MJ says yes, she knows. She saw her there.

Vicky shows up at Ferdumbo's house to have a little chat with Katia. While the maid is getting Katia, she looks around the house and touches Fernando's stuff. She picks up a book and hugs it to herself. Heifer-ho comes down the stairs and lips off to Vicky first thing. Vicky says she didn't come here to fight. She came here to talk. HH says she doesn't want to hear anything from her. Victoria comments on her insolence. She says that she knows very well that Katia told Bruno that Alex and Fernando were going to DR. I really can't stand listening to her so if someone wants to fill that in go ahead. Vicky tells her that she could be responsible for the death of Alex and Fernando. That shuts her pie-hole as Vicky explains that the two of them are missing and no one has heard from them. Katie looks upset and starts to cry. I'm sorry, I don't feel sorry for her at all.

Charlie seems to be having a good time frolicking with his new friends in the water. I can't hear what they are saying over the waves. It doesn't look very important though.

MJ and Paula are at their dad's house. MJ tells her dad what is going on with Alex. They have disappeared and could be dead. They went looking for the judge and Bruno went there too. Now Alex and Fernando are missing. She cries.

Katia is hysterical. Good! Vicky wants her to come back to the house with her because she promised Fernando that she would take care of her. She doesn't want to but Victoria tells her she can live with her or can go live with her tio-abuelo. Vicky takes her hand. Still not feeling sorry for her. Nope.

Pedro and Chucho are trying to comfort MJ. Pedro tells her not to lose the faith.

More island frolicking. They still have their pants on and they are the same color and size as the last scene. Whew! What a relief.

Useless meets Bruno in a restaurant. Bruno tells him that Raquel has been in an accident and she says that Useless is the father of her child. He tells him that Raquel thinks she is getting a divorce so she can marry him. Useless smirks. He tells him that when Raquel wins the Will contest she will be very rich. Useless tells him that when he gets back from his trip they will talk. He tells Bruno that marriage to his sister would not be easy. Bruno tells him that it is his problem. He whips out a big wad of money. He throws it at Useless and tells him to pay the check. Useless gleefully thumbs through the cash. What a scum-sucking dog.

An ambulance is bringing Raquel home from the hospital. Don't they have cars? Felipa makes the mistake of asking her how she's feeling. Raquel tells her not to talk to her. Roberto heaves a big sigh. Ez shurgs his shoulders as Roberto o slowly pushes Raquel back to their house.

More half-naked swimming. Don't you think that salt water in that cut of Fernando's would sting just a little?

Bruno is on the phone talking to his reporter friend. He tells him that he has more news that he might find interesting. He says that his brother and Fernando went to the DR and there was an accident with the boat and now they have disappeared. It's possible that he could be dead. Katia shows up and wants to know if it is true that her brother is dead. He wants to know who told her and she says his mother told her. She came to my house looking for me. She screams at him and asks if it is true that her brother could be dead. He says he doesn't know for sure.

Victoria goes to visit Raquel. I think she feels sorry for Roberto o o. She finds Raquel in the living room. She is fine and the baby is fine. Vicky says she talked to the consulate but there's really nothing they can do. Roberto wants to know if they think he is dead. She says yes. Raquel being ever so tactful wants to know what happens to the company and her money. With the emphasis again on "money."

Roberto goes to see Moora to tell her the news about Alex. (How did he get there so fast anyway?) Moora thinks it is Bruno's fault and cries and clings to Roberto. You know the old saying “If it looks like sh!t, and smells like sh!t, then it is a darn good bet that it is sh!t.” And Moora thinks the whole story stinks to high heavens.

MJ and family to go church to pray. Pedro prays for MJ and for Alex . He thinks she has suffered so much. Please help her. MJ asks what she must do to bring Alex back to her. Please bring him back she begs. He can't be dead. FF>>.

The next day I'm assuming, MJ is eating breakfast outside talking to Paula. Paula thinks she has to have faith that he is alive. Victoria comes up. I talked to the consulate and they say that they are not going to look for them any more. MJ cries.

Raquel and Bruno are meeting with the abogado. Perhaps it would be more convenient for him to just move into the little house that Pedro was living in. But of course, then he wouldn't be able to charge mileage. Bruno informs him that he is not contesting the Will but Raquel is going to handle it all. Raquel wants to hurry up and sign the papers.

Back at the big house Felipa informs Vicky that Katia is gone. They think she has run off to go live with her tio-abuelo. Ah, but we see the real story as Bruno picks her and her suitcase up to go stay with him at the hotel. Ah, the little Minx. She thinks she is just so clever but let me tell you Katia, gasoline underpants come in your size too. She gives him a kiss.

Another abogado presents MJ with her divorce papers. She is now legally divorced from Alex, which is good he says because your sister-in-law has filed a claim against the estate of her father. Since Alex gave everything to you in the divorce there is nothing they can do. Victoria laughs but not a happy kind of laugh but more of a QTF laugh. She is sure that Bruno put Raquel up to it. Victoria and MJ cry on each other.

Raquel is talking to Useless. She's upset that he didn't come to see her. He wants her to have patience. She tells him about the will contest and he wants to know what the story is. Roberto shows up so she doesn't get to tell him what happened. He wants to know if she was talking to her lover. He tells her that Useless is not going to marry her. He tells her he's got another prospect. She frantically calls Useless again. He ignores her call and leaves. I can't blame him for that.

Pedro is talking to Meche and Gabriel and filling them in on what's going on. Chucho wants to go look for them and take the matter into their own hands. Pedro tries to tell him that violence gets them no where. Chucho looks determined and says where he's going there are no rules. He believes in justice with his own hands. I told you he was old school. Pedro thinks it will complicate things more. I say shut the hell up Pedro.

Felipa is talking to Mari. She tracked down the tio-abuelo. Victoria gives him a call. Apparently he is not in the house. She asks the maid if Katia is there. Cut to two viejitos playing dominos, smoking cigars and drinking tequila. The first old guy asks the second old guy about Fernando and Katia. Second old guy says Fernando works and has a good job. He says Katia is in the US attending school. Apparently the first old guy is Sandra's grandfather but I have a hard time understanding him.

Bruno and HH are in a restaurant. Not sure where they are.

MJ is crying in her room-- big surprise--and spraying Alejandro's shirt with cologne. She touches her baby bump and cries some more.

Tomorrow.
Probably more crying from MJ and it looks like MJ foils the evil twins bid to take over the money and the company.

Hi everybody! Can somebody tag it for me? Thanks.

Thanks, Connie. Great recap. So fast and so funny. Loved your warning to Katia that gasoline underpants come in her size, too. LOL. Hope that little heifer puts them on soon.

Even though the castaways seemed to keep their same clothes throughout the episode, I thought I saw Charlie come out of the jungle in black shorts, but a minute later come out of the water in the make shift red ones. Was really looking this evening since reading the previous funny discussions about the isla wardrobes of this trio.

I thought the softer, almost vulnerable looking Raquel in her wheelchair and red slippers might portend a change of demeanor, but it seems not. She's still yelling and drinking. Poor baby.

Connie, many thanks for the quick and funny recap....loved the Island pants update throughout!!
Something making me go "hmmmmm" in this episode...I thought Fernando came from humble beginnings (not MJ-humble but humbler than the Lombardos)but his uncle's house looked mighty fine to me. To those keeping up with Sorti continuity (or lack thereof), am I wrong in thinking Fernando's family wasn't that rich??
Thanks again Connie for the great recap!

Connie i am crying with tears of laughter that the gasosline underpants come in her size too.

Did anyone else see Bruno's bored and tired of her already look when they were leaving the restaurant.

Glad Vicki called her on her spying for Bruno and i too am not one bit sympathetic with this heifer.

MJ Bravo and well done after the meeting with the lawyers, here's Vicki pulling her consoling act awwwwww Bruno really can't have done that.

MJ hit her with both barrels i know you're his mother but i'm Alex's wife and I know firsthand what Bruno is capable of doing and i have evidence.

I will make sure he rots in jail like he deserves. The look of utter shock and fear on Vicki face was priceless.

Her little act works with Alex, Ferdumbo and Hernan but MJ wasn't having any of it.

Stand your ground girl!!!!

Bruno and Useless may have been separated at birth, both like to use people to get to their objective.

Raquel i am not sympathetic with you either. Please stop drinking and get yourself admitted to rehab.

I am looking forward to tonight's episode when the horror twins learn they get nothing.

I agree Pedro let Chucho go old school on Bruno it's long over due.

Antonio should have done everyone a favor and wrote a will on the event of death to reveal the true paternity of the twins.

Also include that Bruno was disinherited.

Hi Connie. Love your style. Fast and funny indeed. Will tag it for you.

Thanks Judy B. I'm so frustrated that I can't get every word. I feel bad if I leave something out but sometimes I just can't get what they are saying.

Hey who was looking at Charlie's shorts?! :P Not me, that's for sure.

Last night while I was doing the recap I really hated Katia. But this morning I was thinking about her as I drove to work. What has happened in her short life to make her so hateful? We don't know anything about her parents really. Does she carry a grudge because they died when she was young? Is she jealous of Vicky because she takes away Fernando's attention? Is she looking for the father figure that she never had? She obviously has a chip on her shoulder for someone or something. Or are we over-thinking this and she is just a mean, nasty, hateful person just because?

Thanks Connie! So the one key thing that MJ learned from the call with the travel agent is that the judge Bruno went searching for is dead. That was the big dun-dun-dun moment. She and Vicky already heard about Bruno from the agent, but she had never mentioned the judge before. That convinced MJ even more that Bruno went there with murderous purpose and succeeded, and likely succeeded with Alex and Fer too. (I have to give her credit for NOT crying in that scene and waiting till she was in teh comfort of her papa's arms to break down). Later, when she and Paula are having breakfast, Paula asks her is she is going to tell Vicky about the dead judge. MJ says no, she doesn't want to give her more anguish than she already has over her evil spawn Bruto.

To answer your question about Katia- I say she's just a mean, nasty, hateful person. Even when Vicky told her about what happened to her brother, she still continued to lie about feeding Bruto the info about the trip. And I think that Bruto is driving her to her tio-abuelo's house. He basically told Raquel he was going to be nowhere in sight when she contests the will (likely to make it look like he has nothing to do with it), so this was a convenient trip to take.

Love the random tn connection of Fer's granduncle and Sandra's grandfather! Let the games begin!

-Vivi in DC

Thanks for filling that in Vivi. I totally missed it. I was wondering when she was going to find that out. That puts a whole different spin on things doesn't it?

Well Sandra's abuelo isn't too happy with her. He mentioned to Fer's tio-abuelo that he hadn't seen her in 5 years and he was going to disinherit her.

I predict (not a spoiler) that Miss Sandra shows up tonight.

Did you notice MJ's belly now?

At least she has a belly. It looks really cute on her and she's been wearing some really pretty outfits. I liked the white lacy dress she had on the other day.

Great recap, Connie. LOL I laughed with Bruno (for once) when Raquel said she was in love with Useless as well. The girl is not very smart.

Maura crying and hugging Roberto...I'm thinking about that scene. Is she moving to the good side too? I mean she "loved" Alex since forever, but I didn't expect a breakdown from her. Maybe I'm giving her too much credit.

Katia is not a sympathetic character at all. Rude, obnoxious, disrespectful, cruel, (starting to sound like Bruno) what have I missed? Her crying didn't move me one bit. Nope.

MJ has been crying for days. Even though endless crying does annoy me, in this case, I've been crying with her for the return of Alex. The loss of that guy would be devastating.

About the raft, ITA it doesn't look that strong. Hope they don't plan to go too far with it.

Really liking this Charlie kid. He is cute and smart. Good character to add.

Btw title alone already had me cracking up. Good one, Connie. :)

Wily E. Bruno thinks by taking Katia to her uncle grandfather that Vicki won't suspect he's behind pushing Raquel to contest the will.

Vicki already suspects him, what a idiot he is.

I can't wait for when and the bitter cow are sitting in front of the lawyers tonight and find out they are getting butkus.

At one point I thought Charlie had no pants on but I think maybe it was the blue shorts he had on in the beginning. I agree that Katia is not a sympathetic character. I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt though. If I had ever talked to an adult like she does to Vicky my a$$ would have been grass!

You know, the last time MJ went to church and prayed really, really hard like she did in last night's episode, she prayed that she wasn't pregnant. That didn't work out so well for her last time...just saying. At least we in viewerville know that Alex is indeed alive. :)

-Vivi in DC

Connie, so you tried to get your dogs to bring you some coffee and they didn't...too funny! The "If it looks like s..." title was outstanding. You do titles well, I liked the hissing snake of last week.

You know, I discovered another reason I like to watch the novelas, it is mesmerizing to see all the help; the drivers, cooks, cleaners, butlers, best friend maids, gardeners and the list goes on and on.

The problem for Alex and Fer is that Alex is the only good guy "man of action" in the Lombardo family. When he is gone, no one else can do anything. I can assure you, with that family money and cache, any one of us on the Caray Caray board would have been on the first conveyance to the DR and had a professional rescue mission in the field immediately instead of wringing our hands and crying for days on end.

I must give MJ credit she has really been assertive with Bruno. It feels good to see her stand her ground.

Thanks Sandy in TN. I don't do the title until the very end because I'm never sure what direction I'm going to take. No, the dogs don't bring me my coffee but if I get up and go in the kitchen they drink my coffee. One time I came back and my entire cup was empty. They looked at me like, it wasn't me (as it was dripping from their chin)! Uh huh.

Do you think MJ stands up to Bruno now because of the money and power she has or because she is sick of his nonsense? Maybe both?

Connie- I think she stands up to him now because she is sick of his nonsense, and because she really sees herself as Alex's mujer (and defender of his honor) and a part of the family now. Not just some outsider dropped in temporarily on the crazy Lombardos by chance.

With the good natured promotion of the arts and Mexican culture in the novelas and in this case, that of the Dominican Republic, I wish they would have a list of location credits at the end of the program. I bet that Bruno's hotel is most likely one of the old hemp haciendas.

The link below is to one of the Merida/ Yucatan haciendas that has been converted to a Starwood Hotel. If you have time, it is interesting to click on the history tab and of course the photos of the hotel. We didn't stay there, very expensive!

Thanks, Connie for a very entertaining recap. I kept laughing at your remarks - you are very perceptive, and very snarky. Excellent work!

I agree that Bruno is taking Katia to her tio-abuelo's for strategic reasons. What a coincidence that her tio-abuelo is best friends with Sandra (and I guess MJ's) abuelo.

Although a few days ago, I thought someone on the tour said the judge was found dead in the falls, I thought last night the agent just said he was missing. This may not really matter, though. Eventually Bruno should be traced to this.

Didn't they at one point say "several days later"? I also thought in one call, the agent said they're pretty much giving up on the search. Could be wrong on this one, too, though.

JudyB correctly predicted that although Bruno agreed that HE wouldn't contest the will, Raquel would. Good one, Judy.

Maura looked really pretty again. Not sure if she said or did anything, but I liked the outfit.

Hombre you crack me up. Lol! I had a good guy friend Kaz in college who always seemed to fall for really mean/b!itchy girls. When we pointed this out to him about a particular girl, he would answer in his cute Japanese accent, "But, she is pretty." ;-)

The agent did say to MJ last night that the judge (Juventil something?) is dead and fell over the falls. She also said something about the search being suspended because of bad weather, and then some days later they were ending the search all together.

Connie – thank you for the great recap and pantsalogue. ;o)
This episode provided me many FFWD--> scenes that made watching go so much faster. Sorry you had to slog through them for our sakes.

I have my doubts about that raft being seaworthy, too.

Raquel is afraid of losing her money, but she forgot that she KNOWS Bruno will trash the company and they’ll all be bankrupt anyway.
Qué vaca loca.

”She thinks she is just so clever but let me tell you Katia, gasoline underpants come in your size too.” ROFLOL Good one.

I've never seen David Cepeda in a 'novela before, but he's doing a good job as Bruno. I absolutely cannot stand the character, beady eyes and all, and would likely want to run over him with my car if I had the opportunity. Fernando Escandón (FELS) was cheesy bad. Bruno is evil.

Doris, David Zepeda was the star of Accoralda and guess who was his supporting co-star who played his brother. William Levy.

Someone had mention he was also in a novela for tv aztec i believe but i don't know the name for that novela.

Thanks for the recap Connie. I noticed a editing blooper LOL. In one clip on Sortiligio's Island, Charlie is wearing blacks shorts. Then a split second later, he's wearing the red makeshift shorts. I guess the boys were hamming it up in the ocean since they had nothing better to do. Now that the search was canceled, how will the castaways make it back to civilization? That raft they were making didn't look as if it could withstand a long journey. From the previews, Bruno's schemes blows up in his face again since Alex left MJ everything in the divorce settlement. I'm afraid though that that will put MJ in danger. Let's hope Alex makes it back somehow to her. I guess since we saw Sandra's grandfather, that that means we'll soon see the appearance of MJ's ever elusive twin.

Sandra's abuelo is NOT MJ's abuelo. He's not even Sandra's bio-abuelo:

Elena had the twins MJ and Sandra and baby Paula with Pedro. Elena got tired of the girls and El Smurf and decided to leave. But Sandra was sickly. Elena felt sorry for her and took Sandra with her.

Elena married Abuelo's son and they lied and said that Sandra was Hijo's daughter (maybe Abuelo hadn't seen his son in a few years?). Abuelo is rich and wants to give all his money to Sandra so there was no incentive to tell the truth.

Hijo died and Elena married Marido #Tres. Abuelo still thinks that Sandra is his granddaughter and he's still giving money to Elena and Marido #3 on account of Sandra, who hasn't seen her "abuelo" in 5 years.

He is also going to be in the upcoming one with Colunga, the villain of course.

Pirate Babe - I noticed that about Charlie's shorts also. It was my QTF? moment for the night.

"Elena felt sorry for her and took Sandra with her." How charitable of her. LOL

I think it was actually hubby number 2 who felt sorry for Sandra/felt affection for her and decided they should take her with them. Otherwise, I think Elena would have abandoned her, just like she did Mj and Paula.

How hard can it be to do the job of a continuity person on these shows?
I noticed the black shorts then switched back to red what the heck is going on.

I think they shot the Sortilegio Island scenes without much of a narrative in mind. Just show the boys trying to survive and make do over a period of time. So basically there are scenes of: 1) Survival- shelter, food and first aid; 2) Trying to get rescued- making, the raft, flagging down planes/helicopter, making bonfires to attract attention; 3) Emotional breakdowns/memories; and 4) Horsing around/male bonding. They just play these different types scenes over and over again in a continuous loop to show time passing. So scenes obviously shot on different days, at different points in time, get mixed together. Continuity isn’t really the point or that important. That’s what it seems like to me.

-Vivi in DC

HDM- I've always thought that Maura is more beautiful than MJ. I don't understand why female villains are usually prettier (i.e. as in ENDA)? of course, this is only my 3rd tn.. what do I know?

I don't know if any of you watch Telemundo tns, but Mas Sabe el Diablo has one of the best villains in 'Martin Acero.' The show is also one of the best I've seen of any (US soaps or tns).

Mrsimgallego CCEA MC the lead was more beautiful than all the villains combine.

I think sometimes the director or producer choose some actors based on their acting skills not looks. Others on their looks not acting skills.

I tried to watch Mas Sabe El Diablo but i got caught up with the writing on ENDA. It does look good when i switch over between commercial breaks though.

I wrote a comment about Fernando's white underarms too but I think I must have deleted it. Bruno is evil. I love that look he makes when he's pretending to be offended. What me? I could never have done that. Ha!

Connie i didn't notice Ferdumbo white underarms.

I get a kick out of Bruno's expression but the one that still makes me laugh whenever i see it.Is when Paula was telling him off by the tree outside.

That expression of his when she's walking away from him just from some reason sends me LOL.

Thanks, Connie for a really fun recap. It was fun to comeback after a couple of days of business travel and find your fine update waiting for me.

ITA with you on Katia's disrespectful behavior. My Mother would NEVER have allowed that acting-out in her house, and I wouldn't allow it with my kids either. It makes me feel very uncomfortable—especially the digs at Mary and the mouthing off to Victoria. But I wonder, is this a general cultural trend? What can we say about a culture that has produced and promoted the Bratz dolls for our children?

Vivi in DC - The random connection between tio-abuelo and abuelo really
was a nice surprise.

Nice to be back with all my Caryland amigos.

Connie:

LOL at your dog's antics. I have the same problem with my husband. He has the look that says,"What? Who me?" down pat.

You make me long to have dogs in my life again. Right now, when mysterious things happen, such as a whole batch of cookies going missing, having no dogs to blame and being of the Irish persuasion I tend to blame the 'fairies'. Big hugs to your canine companions.

LOL, Connie I get a real kick out of Bruno's reactions too. He doesn't even have to think for a split second about what to say. What me? Ella esta loca! El mintio! Lol he never runs short on denying anything. Almost like he believes he's telling the truth. Very entertaining.

Anon, ITA. Marichuy was way more beautiful inside and outside than any of the villains.

But I'm gonna disagree and say that I think MJ is prettier than Maura. I think she intentionally doesn't look glamorous (though her wardrobe is changing) because it's not the way she was raised. Idk, just my take.

Glad to have you back, Elna.

Thanks Elna June. Glad you are back. My daughter wouldn't dare talk to me like that either. She knows I wouldn't tolerate it. It's pretty sad when you can't discipline your own kids for fear of going to jail and the teachers sure can't discipline them in school. We got spankings when I was in school. Who remembers those days?

One time I had two cats. I went to class and came back and my toilet paper roll was in shreds. Hmmm....I asked the cats, who of course said not me, not me. So then I looked at their paws...Nothing like shredded toilet paper under the claws to give the culprit away! Same for who ate the food off the stove...the blister on the paw gave that one away too.

Elna June I'm interested in your take on Katia.

When I was looking up words last night I found this site that has been the best so far for definitions and translations. Maybe you all already know about it or told me about it previously but this is the first time I used it. http://www.spanishdict.com

Cielo de Levy i am going to have to disagree. Maura is pretty on the outside just rotten and ugly to the core on the inside.

The actress Ana Brenda Contreras is playing her just right and connecting with her role to make me want to go upside her head for looking down on MJ because her background isn't the same.

She seems to be enjoying her role too because she always smiling.

As for MJ well what can i say JB just doesn't connect with me a lot. She does have her moments but they're not consistent.

Last night to me when she got in Vicki's face and told her she had enough with Bruno and his schemes.I think that was her best performance to date since this novela started.

Add in the fact i don't know what the wardrobe people are thinking when they dress her. The hairstylist from hell will someone tell her to stop putting the braids in the woman's hair already.

I could understand why they were dressing her that way at first because of her background and upbringing. Now it makes no sense.

Her body type too skinny she needs to eat some hungry man dinners.

This is just my humble opinion that's all.

MC of CCEA (my first tn) is pretty, but still does not hold candle to WL... guess no one will. her character was kinda silly. only my humble opinion of course.

one more thing about Mas Sabe el Diablo... really good writing/plot/twists/turns/ unpredictable/ at times comical but never silly/ wardrobe/ english captioning perfect. I'd be surprised if it doesn't win all kinds of awards next year.

Anon, maybe I'm too connected to the main characters to be able to like the minor ones more. I admit, I have a soft spot for the protagonists.

Mrs. Imgallego, it is pretty hard to look good enough for WL. Lol he could do better even if he had Ms. Universe.

Connie, that was a fantastic recap with a great title. Thanks for putting in all that work.
I liked the comment on the abogado: "Perhaps it would be more convenient for him to just move into the little house that Pedro was living in. But of course, then he wouldn't be able to charge mileage."
Also the one on Katia: "She thinks she is just so clever but let me tell you Katia, gasoline underpants come in your size too."
Laughed at the comment that the island scenes are action loops that were shot randomly and just inserted randomly.
Roberto and Maura together--is this a foreshadowing of a future relationship? I felt a hint of something there, but could easily be wrong.
Let's send a rescue team to DR to search for our good guys. Cucho, Paula, Mari, Roberto, EZ, and who else?
With Felipa to run the command center. MJ and Vicki stay behind to cry and pray.
Loved the Tio-Abuelo and Abuelo scene, as they lounged, drank, played dominos and talked trash to each other. Nice hacienda.

MrsImgallego i think Maite is beautiful maybe that's why i'm so hard on JB. As for her role in CCEA being silly but so was William's role too. What psychiatrist is going to offer marriage to a person with dual personalities who killed their wife.

Then brings her back into his home with his young daughter and and young adult sister that my dear is not rationale at all.

I think we CCEA fans agree the story was absurd and especially near the end.

I think William is gorgeous and beautiful too but at the same time i believe Maite held her own with him in the looks department.

Cielo de Levy to be honest a lot of the supporting characters are so repugnant i can't connect at all with them.

That includes Maura but the acting from the actress who portrays her is good.

Some of the other actors are either over acting their role or under acting it. maybe it just the way they are written i don't know.

Maybe it's because i have known a lot of Maura's who i can easily recognize and identify with too.

At the same time i have known several Katia's also, and Pedro's.

Ah, Katia:

What a horror of a human! I would hate being the actress that played her, she is written as having NO redeeming qualities.

I guess the real question is whether Katia was born rotten or made rotten by life. That's a tricky discussion—the nature v. nurture debate— and it has raged unabated for at least 50 years.

Over the years I have seen folks who appear to have been difficult (if not rotten!) almost from birth—and I have seen those whose hard knocks have hardened and embittered them turning them into virtual beasts.

If our personalities come to some extant along with the rest of the DNA package, then how any one of us responds to stress is some complex combination of natural aptitudes and learned responses. And then of course there is the question of karma. Ha ha.

To try to analyze a fictional character's whys and wherefores is probably silly but I'll give Katia a shot.

Katia is a narcissistically disturbed young woman, with horrible boundaries and misplaced loyalties. She may have been born with these tendencies or they may have been exacerbated by her upbringing but her personality type would not have been helped by the death (abandonment) of her parents. Folks like Katia never feel really solid inside and out of that emptiness a deep lack of empathy is born. They cannot relate to or observe themselves so they sure cannot relate to you or me.

However, regardless of Katia's experiences in this lifetime, she, and only she is responsible for her choices and behavior. Right now whe is not doing too good with either: her choices are self-destructive (Bruno) and her behavior sucks.

I have compassion for Katia but I cannot like her.

Whew! Connie, you asked me for the time and I told you how to make a clock...LOL

Thanks, Connie~~~Gee, I thought gasoline underpants were one-size-fits-all.

I thought Elena never divorced Pedro, just left him and two of her daughters behind, and ran off with a lover, "husband" number two. "Husband" number two's father mistakenly thinks Sandra is his nieta. Does anyone else remember this or did I dream it?

DH thinks that Pedro is probably not even Elena's husband because of her comment to Uli that Pedro was certainly "no viejo". Can't really guess about that one, but would like anyone with a better memory if they also think that Elena never legally divorced Pedro.

HGR, I think you're right that Elena never divorced Pedro legally. It's how I remember it too.

Anon, the problems with CCEA were definetely the fault of the writers. WL and MP did the best they could with the outrageous plot, and I loved them both for making that crappy script worth watching.

Cielo de Levy crappy script is too much of a compliment towards the CCEA writers. Why not borrow one of Connie's Sh!t words from her title and applied to them.

Connie, on MJ "standing up" to Bruno. I have known MJs and I might be a little like her. Have you ever been in a bad situation and feel immobilized either with anger or hurt then LATER you remember everything you SHOULD have said? I think she has quietly watched all the stuff that Bruno has pulled for the last few months and yes, it has taken her a while to get her voice, but now she is ready to take EL Bruto on... and I'm glad for her! I doubt the money has anything to do with it.

Welcome back Elna June..great take on Katia, the character is obnoxious, but the actress is doing a bang up job getting that super heifer attitude across to viewerville. I personally would like to put a big fat shaving cream pie in her face for the way she treats sweet Mary.

Anon 5:40 I agree, the actress playing Maura is doing a really good job. She is acting with her face, and body, just little expressions, not overkill.

Well at least our galans are having a fun time splashing around in the ocean as the days are ripped off of the Sorti calendar. I must say, I never predicted a "castaways" story line!

CdL/Anon - you're both right!!!
ROFL...

Sandra said:.....any one of us on the Caray Caray board would have been on the first conveyance to the DR and had a professional rescue mission in the field immediately

YES, Sandra! I kept thinking about that also. That was so strange that they sat around crying. Not one of them thought about or mentioned going to the DR to arrange a rescue mission. A silly error on the part of the writers. They could buy an entire company of helicopters along with the services of private pilots and combed the islands in a week.
Then again, that would have prevented lots of ensuing plot lines. Besides, without Fer and Alex, who would have been capable of planning all that?

Sandy i been think about your response.

Some actors just over do it for a scene, to me that's a big turn off it's like i am watching a school play.

Yes some time we can blame the director especially when a lot characters are overacting their parts.

When the same actor or actress does the same overacting for every role they play then it's the actor themselves.

Cara we know Bruno is not going to look for Alex and Ferdumbo he has too much to gain.

Raquel is a drunken lush.

That leaves Vicki who doesn't think to far about how it will affect her. If she loves Alex she like she claims then she should at least seek some advice from Hernan or the lawyers.

MJ is too consume with possibly Alex is dead because of Bruno and her grief.

Roberto just wants to get something out of being shackled to Raqhell for this long. He knows that she's going to have to pay him off.

Let me also add this an actor can get away with being a darn good actor an ok looks.

If that actor has good looks and can act his behind off they will never be out of work.

Then this the most crucial ingredient Charisma if you have a combination of all three, you can be a icon. I like someone like Russel Crowe.

When you have charisma and you can act you also don't have to be drop dead gorgeous see Tom Hanks.

Haha lol, Anon this was too funny: Roberto just wants to get something out of being shackled to Raqhell for this long.

Very good one. I'm gonna have to use that next time I mention Raquel. :) it needs to be added to Stephe's list of nicknames.

Anon: 1:01 I think you make a good point on Tom Hanks, no charisma, but strong abilities. I would put his performance in Saving Private Ryan as one of the top of this decade.

Raqhell is fabulous, yes, Steph needs to add that to her list. I haven't seen Steph lately, but I have been busy and missed some days as well. Hope her mom is OK.

Cara and Anon 12:41: On "our" rescue mission, we three could have convinced the Lombardo copter pilot to take us to the DR to look, couldn't we! After all, that copter flew from Merida to the DF...900 miles.

Wow, good stuff elna june sonoma. Aren't we all given a combo of good and bad stuff in life to deal with? It's what we do with it that matters...
jb

food for thought from Ret.

the judge shows up at the end, just in time as proof of his evil deeds and he goes to jail. The other thing, if bruno is upser with MJ getting the money, he may marry sandra and make it look like it is MJ so he can have part of MJ's money?????
