Un gancho-Wed-12-16 Un accidente, a revelation, an abuela, a confrontation

I was out until late tonight, so only got part done, I'll finish the rest in the morning....

We open with Nieves screaming bloody murder because Beto has been bonked by the hood of Mau’s car. Cesar restrains her. Briefly we flash to Jacqui and Kati in the restaurant with Sal, they have been chatting all afternoon, it‘s dinner already, Jacqui accepts Sal‘s offer of another drink, Kati just wants to go home.

Return to the screaming fest Betito!!!! Betito!!!!! Breath!!!! Coni looks on in terror as Beto just lays there.

Gabi is at the restaurant when gorgeous hunk from the modeling agency shows up. We don’t learn his name but we learn he drinks water and is giving up alcohol. Gabi goes to the restroom, when, oh, cute waiter guy bring a Tamarindo margarita for our handsome model on the house, and don’t you know he sips it, and absorbs a wink from said cute waiter. Alright, what is going on here? Male flirting or is this some trick? Guess we shall see.

In the tocador Gabi runs into Jacqui, who sings Sal’s praises. Gabi is not alone however, she is with quite the virile young man this Sunday evening. Uh oh, this sounds like an anvil. They agree to join each other for dinner. Jacqui of course tells this to Sal, and that Gabi’s new man was described as quite virile. When Gabi gets back we see cute model has really racked them up on the margarita side. Oooh and the hunk waiter side. Turns out the guy is now off from his shift so cute model goes with him leaving poor Gabi distraught that she has no man with her. As Sal saunters over she turns around and clings to the first man she comes across. Sal wants to meet him, but ha, we already know him, it’s none other than our Jero boy, there to save the day. Bizarre looks all around.

Back to Jacqui and Kati, where Jacqui explains, look she’s doing this to facilitate another love, she’s pushing just a little on Sal. She know he likes Gabi and she thinks he should get off his high horse and go after her, but of course he won’t listen if she tells him that, so she has to set up a “trap” of sorts. She sends poor bored Kati off in a cab for home, she’ll understand this someday. The more you draw back from a man, the more like a little boy they come after you. Is this true guys? I think sort of. Anyway, Kati leaves.

Mona worries she’s heard nothing of Beto

Sal tells Gabi he gave her some time not to go out with other people, and least of all with this one who isn’t even people. She says then what are you doing with Jac? He says she’s misinterpreting things, and of course Jero chides him too. Sal reminds them Jac is waiting. Gab and Jero argue, turns out he’s there to be with Jac and he knows she with Sal so they simply must go over for dinner now.

Back to the wailing scene. Not much has happened in all this time, finally the ambulance arrives to take Beto away. Coni wants to go but Nieves calls her a disgrace!!!

Chris moves in to take statements. Coni follows the ambulance.

Mona is still worrying about Beto, Estrella bragging about the Furia. Evertone notes that she is still pinig for Aldo when he's around so what the hell. Chris busts in with the news and eventually tells them the mummy ran Beto over.

Luisa thanks Aldo for defending her against the Mummy. He’s the best bro her promises to get her out of that house soon and that Mummy will never lay a hand on her.

Aldo tells Kati about the Mummy trying to beat Luisa. She is shocked. She then remembers her Ma’s advice re laying off the man, and tells Aldo she’ll just quietly be his friend she knows he’s in love with another and doesn’t want to get in the way. Aldo likes this.

Mona wants to go to the hospital ut everyone is telling her what a baaaddd idea that is. She is not phased. She won't leave Nieves alone to deal with this.

At said hospital Momia is having a firm discussion with Ma Nieves. Nieves wants her to leave Beto alone, and it’s her fault he’s here, but Momia says they are the same and anyway it all was an accident. Ma complains to the boys she wants mummy gone, they tell her to chill out.

Xime and Rolu are playing a game with questions and being kissy face and Rolu tells her soon she’ll forget the naco. She says what naco and eats up his kisses. Just then Mau calls with the news about said naco. Whoops they have to go to the hospital. Rolu is not pleased.

We now go to the dinner between the four lust monkeys. This doesn’t end well. Insults are thrown and well, Jero ends up challenging Sal to a duel. He first insults Sal's health and toupe etc. Of course the women try to make sense of it all.

Mona shows up at the hospital to find out about Beto, Mau reassures her but tells her she should go because Mummy is there. She doesn't give a sh*t about the Momia and wants him to tell HER to leave she ain't going anywhere.

OK so now the famous scene. Momia is crying over the still lifeless Beto. She pours her heart out to him. She doesn't want him to die and he needs to get better for his little Beto that she is expecting. Ooops, Mama is listening to this. Yep safe to say she is impactada!!! She listens to a bit more, but the most exciting part for her is that she will be an abuela, grandma!!!

Mona and Mau still argue over whether mummy did this on purpose. Mau notes that she was really upset about the whole thing and he saw, it definitely was not on purpose.

The boys joke more about the possible duel. Sal thinks it's silly, Jero thinks he's chicken. They end up agreeing to it.

Mau explains this happened because Mommy found out about them being together. Mona wonders how she found out. She agrees to see Beto and Mau says before she finds the Mommy well he has something to explain to her. Yikes, another anvil. Mona rushes off to the room only to find Nieves blocking her way (becaue Mummy is still inside...doh

Good morning Kris. Please know how much I admire you for hanging in here and continuing to recap. It sounds like your life is going a million miles an hour. Aside from Gaby's men problems and Ximena's goofy board game, this was another "too telenovela" night. And looks like it's going to get worse.

Good morning Kris and Judy.

Kris, I always look forward to your recaps, they're always so enjoyable (as was this). Your time and dedication are very much appreciated.Loved the title!

Luisa and Katia are blossoming and moving more to the forefront. Luisa basking in Ivan's affection and her sweet thank you to Aldo. Katia is learning the subtelties and nuances of romance. It appears she is a quick study.

Ximena was a welcoming ray of sunshine last night. I'm even starting to like Rolu... her affection is contagious.

Diana

Kris, thanks so much for powering out your recap what with your crazy busy schedule and all.

Poor Gabi, I think she needs to call another agency. I do love Tamarindo Margaritas (my fave) but to pound down three in the time it takes Gabi to visit the baño? And then she gets stuck with Jero? It just goes to show you that, especially in a telenovela, things can go awry even for those in the most control.

A duel between Sal and Jero? I'm dying to see how this plays out.

Lust monkeys...that cracked me up.

Thanks Kris!!

Kris, Thanks. It's great to have back. Judy, Diana, and Sylvia, good morning. There were several things last night that were little gems.

When Rolu said that it was too bad that Beto wasn't killed, Ximena thought it was very romantic. Uh, yeah, I guess in a way.

I thought that Coni's tearful bedside soliloquy was very touching. I almost teared up. I was sure that would win everyone over, but then she had to go and start in on Moni in a very malicious malevolent way.

Hasn't Beto already suffered from amnesia once before?

Coni and Nieves. Mama bear versus
lady scorpion. Scary.

Jero may be a bumbling bad guy, but he certainly found all the buttons to Sal's insecurities.

Carlos

Yes, Beto has had amnesia already! Are the writers allowed to do this? Maybe he's faking it.

Jero seems to know how to push everyone's buttons. He's an idiot savant when it comes to being a jerk.

I don't know what to say about Coni. I felt sympathy for about 2 seconds. Then it went away, far far away.

"Jero's an idiot savant at being a jerk." Excellent!

I love how he wanted to postpone the duel until later in the day after her has some breakfast and coffee.

Carlos

Thanks for the recap, Kris. As everyone else said, I appreciate the work you put into it, despite your busy schedule.

As for the tactic of women playing hard to get to attract men, I'd say this works with most guys, but not with me. I'm more of a flatter him, butter him up, praise him and he'll be your slave type of guy. Oh, that and some good home-cooked food.

I do hope they have some kind of duel between Jero and Sal. We've already had car races between Rolu and Mau, wrestling between Beto and Mau, and various fights with the ladies. This is definitely the way to solve problems. :)

Hey there, I'm going to be running around this am for work related stuff, but I will get to the good stuff in a bit. La Momia's endearing word to Beto, were actually cool. I'm glad she can say that about somebody. I actually do think she and Nieves are cut the same, Momia just has more resources and that spolied brat thing going on... :)

Thanks, Kris. Gee, Coni really seems to care about Beto. I'm sure that they will end up together. Poor Gaby. Those too goodlooking hombres are sometimes too vain. I once had a beau , and the big problem was that I loved him and he loved him. Thanks for weighing in on my name dilemma. I've decided that the jury has spoken , and I am back to my original Susanlynn [until I decide on a pirate name when we set sail with Corazon Salvaje.] The nickname discussion was interesting. Everyone calls Hub's uncle ''Popeye'' even though his name is Sherwood. I had a cousin Charles who was called ''Skipper''his whole life. Hub has a friend named Charles whom everyone called ''Kosh'' in hugh school [short for ''cowsh**''] I've been so tired lately as I give final exams, calculate and post final grades and try to get ready for the holidays. I think the cold weather and darkness of wintertime also make me tired. Last night, after giving my last final exam ,Hub and I met our daughter for dinner, and when I got home I went right to bed and watched Sortilegio from under the comforter. Our Canadian daughter will be home this weekend , so I'll make our holiday dinner on Sunday. My Christmas cards are mailed, and most of the presents are wrapped and under the tree, but I still haven't gotten all the decorations out. Well, I corrected the grammar finals this morning , and hopefully , I'll get the writing class grades posted on the computer tonight. Then , I can concentrate on the holiday preparations. ~~~Susanlynn, back to her old self

Great recap, despite the time crunch.

This show, again with the details! I loved Salvador slapping Jero with a white napkin, not having gloves available.

Also, Ximena's delight with the trivia game, with its lists of three options.

Those youngsters are turning into fantastic characters. When the show first started they seemed more like props but now they just shine. What a great cast they have to learn from.

Hombre...you bring up an interesting question. I would agree that admiration and appreciation are always good strategies...with either men or women.

And one can give that even if one is just playing the "supportive friend" who has given up all thought of romance. Plus, if someone is really in love with another, well, might as well retire gracefully from the fight and be a supportive friend to the lover you lost. Friendship, ultimately, is the highest form of love because it has the least self-interest IMO.

"Playing hard to get" is really not the same as the supportive friend strategy Jackie was originally recommending. Of course the high-testosterone types will be turned on by a difficult prey...but once they've caught her, they lose interest, no? Then it's on to a fresh target.

And hey, Susanlynn...glad the "old you" is back. We love her!

Thanks for the recap Kris. I too admire your dedication and consistency particularly when things are crazy for you. I'm hoping to be able to posting regularly again next week (when final papers are graded and I'm with the family).
