Sortilegio - Wed Dec 9 - Ep 45- Maura Tells All!
From yesterday.. Katia trying to figure out password. Useless telling Maura he has an apartment. Ale and MJ talking about Ale going back to old life. Mario wanting money to keep quiet.
Tonight..
Victoria and Felipe are talking about Hernan and Fernando. Victoria says that what she feels for Fernando is a dream an illusion. Felipe says opportunity doesn't come knock'n every day. Victoria writes a poem.
Las alas cubrieron el espejo sin reflejar mal los pies en un ancla, el mar hollado en la renuncia de un puerto, mi viaje y sonar.
Fernando comes home all thoughtful and love sick.
In Ciudad de Mexico Ale and MJ are getting ready for their meeting.
Chucho is eating with Meche and Gabriel. Meche and Gabe are trying to figure out what they should do. Gabe says his therapy is most important to him.
Maura calls EZ for Ale and leaves an urgent message to have Ale call her. .
Bruno is talking to Katia, to see what good information she has for him. Katia doesn't and Bruno is to busy to talk more. Bruno goes back to talking to I don't know who. Are they board guys? I don't know why they are participating. They tell Bruno that Alex is good and has more experience in running the business, but, never the less, they are in with Bruno. Bruno gets a call confirming the results of the "ADN" (DNA) tests that prove he is really a bastard. Oops.. really a Lombardo.
The helicopter brings Ale and MJ home. Victoria greests MJ and says she will walk her to her room. MJ is sad and says that in 3 weeks they will be divorced. Victoria says it is only temporary. MJ cries, she doesn't want Ale going back to his old life. Victoria tells MJ that Ale trusts her, has given her everything. MJ says she needs Ale with her by her side. Victoria tells MJ that she can be strong and get through it.
Ale comes in and greets his Madre MJ and ALE hold each other. Victoria tells Ale that she got the results of DNA.
In their room, MJ cries and says she it is difficult to imagine this. When is he moving? Ale says he will move to a hotel tomorrow. Ale comforts her. Ale says that she should have Paula move back to keep her company. MJ worries about her Padre. Ale says he will be fine with Chucho.
Ale comes down the stairs and EZ gives him the urgent message to call Maura.
Ale goes to Maura's. Maura asks how MJ is and Ale says fine. Maura says she wants to be straight with Ale. Maura spills her guts about the whole Mario Aguierre thing. How she wanted Ale to think that MJ had a lover. That Bruno found out some how and hired the guy to be Mario. Useless helped and Roberto knew about it, but wasn't a part of it. Bruno sent Mario to Cancun and the reason she is telling him now is Mario wanted to blackmail her. Ale is a wee bit upset. Maura, though looks like she is repentant. Do you think? Ale thanks her for telling him.
Roberto and Paula are have lunch an Roberto asks Paula how her Mother mother died. Paula doesn't know. There is only one picture of her and her father never talks about her. Roberto asks Paula if besides MJ does she have another sister? They talk some more but I didn't catch it.
Ale goes to Bruno's hotel and gets his room number. Bruno is having a massage on his bed when Ale knocks.
"Well, well what a surprise" Bruno says. Ale says, " I also was surprised again to hear of your dirty games."
Bruno says "All is fair in love and war." Ale says he understand the war part but the love? Bruno answers" MJ". Ale says for your good or not, my woman is expecting my child. Bruno says it could be his. Ale tells Bruno not to continue with his stupidities. Ale goes on about Brunos lack of respect for his Mother, that he knows how he hired Gariel and Meche to lie about Paula's accident, and other crimes that Bruno has done. Like Mario Aguirre.
I really liked how Ale got right into Bruno's space when he told about Mario. Bruno did not like hearing this. ale says don't mess with his family.
Bruno calls Maura to find out how Ale found out about Mario. Maura says she is no idiot and puts Bruno in his place and hangs up on him. Bruno curses her.
Roberto takes Paula home. They decide they are friends. Chucho and Pedro happen to see Paula and Roberto talking at the door. Pedro gets upset that Paula is hanging out with a married man. Paula throws a tantrum.
The European group IL DIVO are having dinner at the Lombardo's casa. Felipe is really glad to meet them. IL Divo share a bit of their español with us. They talk about their tour. Rachel comes in and shares her English with us. Rachel pulls up a chair and has IL Divo ( one of them) pour her some wine. Roberto comes to save us from her. Roberto practically drags her out. Victoria asks their pardon for her daugter and then they all stand and toast. Salud!
MJ is putting hearts all over the bedroom as she talks with Papa. MJ asks Papa if Paula can come and stay with her, starting tomorrow. Pedro thanks the Virgencita for making this happen. Papa also asks the Virgencita to make sure Roberto has no bad intentions towards Paula. Papa runs in to tell Paula, who is so happy. Paula tells Papa that she and Roberto are just friends.
Ale comes home, and Victoria greets him. Victoria would like to spend some time with him here in the dining room. Ale tells her it is his last night home and he would like spend it with MJ. It is nothing important that she wants is it? No. Of course not. Interesting look that Victoria has as she watches Ale go up the stairs. She knows whats gonna go on.
The bedroom must have a thousand candles. Long stemmed red roses are everywhere. MJ is hiding behind the door as Ale comes in. MJ has a heart the size of her face on her face and it says Te amo. Ale puts the heart on his face and says te amo. MJ holds his hand while she lights more candles. MJ tells Ale that she told her Papa that Paula could come tomorrow. Ale tells her he doesn't want her to suffer and maybe tomorrow he should call the lawyer and tell him they don't want a divorce it is not worth it. MJ tells him no, and reminds him off all the horrible things Bruno is. That it will be better to continue with their plan. It is not for the money but for justice for everyone that he has hurt. Ale asks her if she is sure. Completely she answers.. Ale says he knew she was a woman that was different. MJ says they started off very badly, and Ale says later he fell in love with her more than she knows. They finally start that good kissin. There are rose petals all over the bed and roses petals are soft on the skin.
Bruno meets with reporter Señor Zaldivar. Bruno tells him to call him Señor Lombardo. It is official, they are the children of Antonio Lombardo.
Ale and MJ are talking again. Ale wants to no why she made the "sacred space" for them. She asks him if he likes it. Yes, it is all very beautiful, but why? Because I love you, because your my life, because this is our farewell and because tonight she wanted to take him by the hand .... They kiss and do what this couple can do great in front of the lights and camera under the direction or our award winning director. Later They thank each other for loving each other, for being each other. They are very much in love!
My dvr ends here.

I hope this is not too disjointed. I am behind and have not caught up with the last few shows. WoW!

Turns out it was just a clear shot of MJ and Alex, post love making, with their legs wrapped around each others' waists (as opposed to the partially obscured by candles and roses shot a bit later). What's annoying is that it cuts out a little peice of actually dialogue, and if they can show Bruto and Katia all nekid on a floor after sex, not sure why they couldn't show this.
Anyway, here is the YouTube link to the whole love scene (with all other scenes in between cut out) and the offending tiny portion is at minute 7:06: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GiU_jv_a4A&feature=fvw

But hey, this is Bruno and the wheels of his bus just keep going round and round. Looks like he'll be back to no good tonight with little delay.
Wow! Maura really pleasantly surprised me with her decision to tell Alex all. She looked at all her options and went with the least bad option. So logical...so un-telenovela like! But it doesn't seem that Alex told MJ. Huh?
Part of the dinner conversation that I caught with Paula and Bobo was Bobo saying to Paula that she doesn't seem like a woman to him, more like a little girl because she's so cute and tiny. She then (just like a young girl) insists that she is indeed a woman, in fact, more woman than her older sis (yeah, right!). I don't think Bobo bought that. Hmmm..Still fascinated by these two, but it does seem more and more to me that he only sees her as a friend. One thing is for sure, Paula, Bobo and Raquel living in the same household is not a good thing. Pedro better pray hard to the Virgincita.
And again, I really thought the love scene between MJ and Alex was sweet. This time they showed them talking during lovemaking, just as much as the physical stuff. There has been a real evolution in their relationship and it shows in the way they depict their lovemaking. Alex (a man who has had many women in bed) thanking MJ for teaching him how to make LOVE was icing on an already lovely cake. ;)

”Roberto comes to save us from her.(Raqi)” LOL My fav line from the recap.
For those who did not feel that MJ was sad enough the first time she and Alex separated, well here you have it. The poor girl could barely pull herself together this time at the thought of living separately from him indefinitley. Her sobbing on the stairs and on his lap beat his moping on the floor, in bed, in the office, etc. when he kicked her out, for sure! :)

Those two board members are idiots and deserve to lose all their money, if Bruno gets to run the company. How are you going to say Alex is better and has more experience than you.
Then turn around and say we'll support you because our shares will be more cheaper under you. He's going to run the company into the ground then your shares will be worthless. Idiots.
The avances for tonight show Vicki talking to Bruno over the phone and then mad dog bum rushes thru the front door pass Tomas the guard at the gate and Ezeke.
I think to confirm that Alex is not staying there anymore.
Maura it seems your lucky charms aren't all that irresistible after all.Alex was not a happy camper after realizing how innocent MJ was after all.
I wonder if this plan to be seen with Maura like before he met MJ will be changed after her telling him the truth.
I hate the FCC in the US it was not necessary to delete that little bit of scene. We saw far more with Bruno and Katia.
The Maura scene was beautiful, played very well by the actress and William. She had just the right amount of tears and true angst. Even through Alex's anger, he managed to understand Maura's reasons and in the end thanked her for her truthfulness, yes, a telenovela first.
What a wonderful lecture by Pedro to Maura on the Roberto thing. That is the first time Pedro has done something I have respected. He came alive! He was a real father. Both Chucho and Pedro were walking around the table double teaming Paula. Now we know why both MJ and Paula (we hope!) have values, very good scene indeed!
When MJ was crying on the staircase, I worried that she was too emotional, even clingy, I understand, she's pregnant and is giving up her husband for a while, but Alex began to love her while she was strong and resisted him. But in the end, during the bedroom scene, when she was strong again and realized the importance of the plan (in THEIR minds) she really came through. Their relationship is going to the next level, a strong, loving and sexy(!) partnership, nicely choreographed scene!
MJ has agreed to a lot, the "booty call" of all booty call relationships, "I don't know you during the day, I'll be my old playboy self, but we'll see each other on occasions at night",(while you stay at home with my mom, pregnant) only in a telenovela would this float as a legit plan.
He has found out a lot of Bruno's misdeeds & I can't imagine him keeping his word to such a scumbag, unless it's to protect the money.
Tks so much dpd, I didn't have the recaps on last night. Missed a lot of dialog but I knew what was going on.
I think I had an aha moment about what Bruno was discussing with the board members. Was he saying to them that when he has more shares he will sell them some of his shares at a low price, in exchange for them supporting his bid for the presidency?

This is the only thing that makes sense about why the writers are having Ale sign over his ownership to MJ.
I thought the scene with Raquel crashing the Il Divo dinner was hilarious. She was so ditzy, saying in English "Hi, I'm Rachel" and even throwing in some English as she was being carted out by Roberto. She really is a fun actress to watch, always in one extreme or another. I really hope to see her as the main villainess one day in some other telenovela.
I agree, Alex should at some point tell MJ that Maura confessed to the Mario Aquirre thing. He's not too anxious to do so, because he doesn't want MJ to think badly of Maura (more than she already does), and it also would remind MJ of how Alex mistrusted her. He probably feels that since he now totally trusts MJ, why rock the boat.
This was a generally positive, happy episode, which of course means there must be anvils ahead.
Serendipity (or DPD...love it!): nice to meet you. I'm an old lurker from TNs past & now I have to get up to speed on Sortilegio pronto. Tbanks for the recap!
I'm guessing Bruno is the dude with the blue shirt painted on his manly bod, right? I only caught a little of last night's episode but that outfit...gack!
Hasta manana! It's great to be back...missed everyone.
Maggarita
(ready to warm up the blender)
:-D
We all know Bruno would use her to act as MJ. Then again Sandra has money of her own from her grandfather.
On the hammocks, my husband and I spent a wonderful few days about 3 or 4 winters ago in Merida. On our tours we learned that years ago the Yucatan was the hemp capital of the world and Merida was a very wealthy city. All the rope used in shipping was made of hemp, before plastic. Still, they make those hammocks out of the hemp and they sell them in the markets along with the pocketbooks that MJ and Paula were selling in Saqui. If you remember, Meche and Gabriel were folding or doing something with the hammocks at one point.
When my husband and I went on a hacienda tour, we noticed big hooks in the walls in the bedrooms. It is so hot in the summer, that back in the day, people slept in hammocks, beds, sheets, etc. were too hot. I think Carla is just trying to invoke a sense of the real Merida, like when you think of Maine, you think of lobsters.
i'll say this 1000 veces... Ale/WL is sooo dang FINE!!
When Alex was talking to Bruno, he threatened him with two things that could damage him, the revelation that he had paid Mario Aguirre to blacken MJs name and that he had paid Meche and Gabriel to falsely accuse Paula. Bruno wasn't so worried about Meche and Gabriel since he thinks they're dead, but Fake!Mario ought to be concerned about his life expectancy.
I didn't understand why Alex didn't tell MJ about Maura's confession. It's true they reconciled after those phone calls, but he had said at the time he loved her so much it didn't matter if it was true or not. She'd probably feel better if she knew all doubt about Fake!Mario had gone away.
The conversation with Bruno and the sleazy board members was confusing. I got the impression that Bruno felt that all the chaos concerning challenging the will and the shares being divided differently would cause the share prices to go down and that they could then buy some on the cheap. Not sure how this would work because I didn't think Lombardo Inc was publicly traded. Then he told them (ha, ha) that under his capable management the stock price would rise right back up and they could sell at a profit.
You can have shares in a company that is not a publicly traded company.
Also, I agreed with your comment yesterday about Caribbean Spanish, the hardest for me. It's funny though, I can mostly understand anyone in person, no matter which Spanish speaking country they come from, but novelas are the hardest, especially Sorti...the background noise, very discouraging.
Doris, you have the best idea on the MJ/Bruno/ /twin/shares angle, oh brother...noooooooooo.
Limited time today, but here are a few comments:
- Thank you Dipity for a very helpful recap
-Welcome back Maggarita ( I remember some of your comments on Manana)
- I 100% concur with all those who expect an MJ impersonation to throw a kink in Alex's plan. Doris probably has it right..."whenever the alleged twin sister shows up, Bruno may convince her to impersonate MJ and sign her(MJ's) shares over to Bruno"
- The love scene was very sweet
- I am with Hombre on liking Raquel in the Il Divo dinner scene. She was hysterical and made me laugh a la Lucille Ball. I think the actress is doing a great job with a very narrowly written part. Most of the time she is just despicable and then every once in a while she puts her tongue in her cheek and hams it for the audience. Interesting that her English was unaccented...
- On the fashion front I thought Bracamontes was a knockout in that yellow dress! Wow, it really suited her.
- Thanks Vivi for your explanation of Alex's plan. I must be thick, because I-STILL-DON'T-GET-IT. Beanie time....
- The whole Maura coming clean thing was a real surprise. I LOVE being surprised by the writers. Nice scene...
Fernando Colunga & Carlos de la Mota & Mickey Mouse are going to be on Cristina's show Monday night.
I was also confused by the stock-swap, but I think it's a red-herring for us in viewerville. We needn't worry our little heads over it. The crisis for us will come when Sandra appears. I agree with Susan, Bruno is going to take charge of Sandra.
I felt sorry for Raquel because she wasn't invited to the meal with Il Divo, she would have been very entertaining company for them. Since Vic and Alex place such a high value on family, it would have made sense to invite both Raqui and Robo to enjoy such illustrious company.
Did anyone catch MJ's joining in during the toast to Il Divo? Maybe she was only going to taste a few drops, but she had quite a lot in her glass.
New words for me: acomplejado or maybe it was just complejado - complex, complicated (Alex says that of Bruno in their hotel room confrontation). I thought complicated was complicado. Is there a better definition?
aterrada - terrified (MJ says it of herself describing how she felt when she first laid eyes on Ale); but it can also mean destroyed or dumped on!
cursi - vulgar, shabby-genteel, pretentious (MJ says it about her decorating skills with hearts, candles and roses)

Vivi in DC.-- Thx for the link to the unmangled love scene. It was so lovely. I can't for the life of me see what needed to be cut from that scene. Makes no sense. Is there a "standard" of US acceptability for love scenes like there was before the 50's (in which one leg always had to be on the floor or there always had to be twin beds)? Jeez, it's stupid.
Glad you're back, Maggarita. Can't wait for your take on some of this TN's estupideses and great plot lines as well.
Although Maura looked genuinely sorry during the confession, I can't help but think if she hadn't been in such a hiney-bind over Mateo's blackmail attempt, she probably wouldn't have said a thing to Alex. Let's see what she does when she thinks Alex is divorced.
Bruno is not threatened in the least by Alex's revelations that he knows about and names his schemes. Poor Alex still doesn't have any proof that connects Bruno to any of the deeds. I wonder if Fer is still out there looking for the judge.
I watched the un-edited version of the despedida love scene. It wasn't nearly as suggestive or disgusting as Bruno and Katia's post-dalliance. Maybe it has more to do with the position they are in, but lordy, you can't get any more missionary than Ale ontop of MJ and vica versa. I'm really tired of having to see the women in love scenes all trussed up in their teddy's and underwear in American soaps. Here they played it out as long as they could but finally gave viewerville more than is left to the imagination--my two cents, FWIW.

As Melinama said recently, it's so refreshing to have a galan with an ounce of grey matter. Alex told Maura that, if she hadn't come up with Fake!Mario, MJ would not have gone to Saqui and been attacked. His mind works quickly.
No Mario Aguirre = no Saqui
No Saqui because Alex wouldn't have thrown her out of the house
No Saqui = no job in gift shop = no attack.
I wonder if Alex did not tell MJ about Maura's confession because he still has not dealt with his guilt in the matter of her stabbing. Plenty of guilt to go around there, though—Maura, Lissette, Uli, Roberto and we must include MJ for not coming clean with Alex about her various family peccadilloes.
Wait, I am confusing myself here; does MJ know about the Meche/Gabriel fake hit-and-run plot? Alex really has a lot to think about if he sorts out the full extent of Bruno's bad behavior.
Alex must be feeling a lot of guilt towards MJ aboutthe fake Mario Aguirre plot.
The one who is the most to blame is Maura because she couldn't handle that Alex wanted MJ over her.
You are right, of course. Maura does indeed bear the most responsibility. It really was a NASTY bit of mischief making that led to a terrible outcome. Just goes to show that we are all responsible for our actions. Karma and all that.
Do we really think Maura is repentant?
Last night was to sexy for any "conversations" about past stuff....Alex will let MJ in on the revelations soon, I'm sure of it!!
Cursi also means cheesy/corny more colloquially. There's nothing wrong with a bit of cheesiness in romance. :)

Sandy i'm not absolving Bruno of his fault with the Mario Aguirre plot at all.
Little Miss Maura started the whole ball rolling because she was jealous that MJ got the position that she conceitedly thought was reserved for her. Alex's wife.
They continue to have first Useless and then they hired this Mateo guy to act as Mario. So she get's most of the blame.
I don't think for one minute that she is sorry, she just didn't want Alex to hear about the Mario plot from Bruno. Plus she didn't want to be blackmailed by Bruno either.
What team mexitrash never plan to happen was Bruno finding out about it and taking over their nasty scheme.
Maura's intent was to break up Alex and MJ at all cost. I believe if Bruno never found out about it. She would have kept on trying to get her desired results.
excelerated it to another level. Really, it's splitting hairs trying to figure out who is most guilty!
