Truly a hard to watch episode. I think the only best part was when Maura got her clocked clean.

I wished they had done more damaged to that conniving heifer, she makes my blood boil now when i see her.

Alex seemed so completely devastated. Watching him cry makes me cry. That wasn't the reaction I expected. I know that he loves MJ, but I thought there would be a lot more rage and anger. Instead, he totally fell apart. It was really depressing. I felt for him, even though he could have prevented it from happening by telling the truth about Maura. I don't hold him completely responsible though because I am sure Jorge would have found one way or another to kidnap MJ with or without Maura's help.

Anon, I too am frustrated that Roberto was so close to MJ, but her face was covered. Damn you, Jorge.

And really Victoria, you are going to trust your good-for-nothing, conniving, jerk son to find out about the kidnapping besides assuming that he is involved? Where is your brain, woman?

Alex needs to start suspecting Bruno asap. Just stalk him or something. For God's sake, when Bruno doesn't do anything they suspect him and now when he is involved everyone is too worried to think about it. Wake up! Paula, of course, is the exception. I too hope she gets it into Alex's head that Bruno must've done something.

Did you catch all that Alex said to Maura? Does he really think she was involved or was he just blaming her because she was there?

Alex was very hard for me to understand tonight, in his anguished state.
 

Alex blamed Maura for taking MJ to such a secluded location alone, without precautions. He said that's why he has all his people, for protection. So he doesn't seem to believe that she was behind the kidnapping, just that she stupidly put MJ in a situation where she was vulnerable to being kidnapped. And now with the sick sister, Alex is going to feel sorry for her and not push the point any further. So, in a way, Lisette having lukemia got Maura off the hook with a very angry and distraught Alex. I am sure she will milk the situation for sympathy from him all that she can.

Roberto was so close, and yet so far! At least he got Alex and Zeke off the hook with the police. I could not believe that RaqHELL was still pleading with Alex and getting angry with everyone to cover for her. A mean, her brother and Zeke had just spent the night in jail, and Roberto had nearly died, because of her. And they were all still willing to help her. Yet, she couldn't take the step to take responsibility for her own actions. She is vile!

Nice to see Rafael from ENDA show up as the kidnapping specialist. Lol! That was a surprise. You know, he would make a nice match for Vicky. Not as old and pudgy as Hernan, not as young and puppy dog like as Fer, but still handsome and well built, and her age. Hmm...

He yelled at Vicki and Felipa and asked them how they could let her go by herself with Maura.

I believe if Hernan didn't interrupt him when he was all up in Maura's face about what happen he would have gotten a confession out her skank behind.

I'm with everyone else. Alex's response was just hard to watch, he was just destroyed. WL just killed in that scene, his eyes were red, he was shaking...I don't know from what place he pulled that scene out of himself, but you could forget you were watching a TN, he was so convincing.

I felt for Paula too when she broke down and kudos to her that though she's devastated she kept her thinking hat on and suspected Bruno might have something to do with it.

I just wanted to reach in to the TV screen and choke that forked tongue Bruno when they showed his fake concern upon finding out that Alex was in jail. GRRRR!!

Why didn't they call the police and get all those finger prints that the kidnappers left behind. Yeah, you'll go in with masks on and kidnap a woman but not wear gloves? Way to leave some evidence?

Happy Friday everyone. I got a phone call from the time that Alex was told about the kidnapping to after he got out of jail. Can somebody fill me in on that part?

There is a special place in Hell for Dr. and Mrs. E-v-i-l and Bruno. Gasoline underpants all around.
 

I missed this episode, too, so I appreciate all the comments here. I wish I had seen the Alex scene where he breaks down.

How could Victoria have spawned two such awful people? Makes me wonder what is in the genetic makeup of that side of the family. Or if she did some really hard drugs in the 1970s that left residual damage, including to her own brain? That woman IS Cleopatra, the queen of Denial.

The good news is this 'novela should be over in approx. four weeks. !Ya basta!
 

I hope someone who took some detailed notes can do a quick and dirty recap in the comments. I'm walking back and forth geting ready for my trip, so not enough time to really think back and write it out. But the kidnapping specialist, from the kidnapping insurance company Alex contracted (not unsual and a smart thing to do if you are a rich and powerful person in a country where kidnappings are common) recommended that 1) they not call the police; 2) that they not make it public knowledge (don't tell others, not even Pedro); 3)that someone be in charge of answering the house phone and be the person to speak to the kidnappers when they call to make the demands; and 4) that they calm Alex the heck down, because he is too angry and aggitated (also the reason why he thinks Alex should not be the one to answer the phone and speak to the kidnappers); and 5) they follow the orders/demands of the kidnappers.

Alex insists that HE will be the one to answer the phone (dammit!), and he will demand that they put MJ on the phone and let him hear her voice before he goes along with any demands (uh oh!). Everyone is clearly worried that Alex will remain calm enough to be the one to speak to the kidnappers.

It's actually a smart move to not call the police or make things public, if this was the typical kind of kidnapping that happens in places like Mexico, Colombia, and so many other countries these days. In the U.S., when someone is kidnapped, the first thing we think is someone being kidnapped for really horrible things (especially children). But even in the States, when someone is kidnapped and they are high profile, they will likely keep it hush hush because it's likely a kidnapping for ransom. And you're more like to get your loved on back alive if the kidnappers don't feel threatened (police and public exposure) and feel that they can just take their money and disappear quietly having gotten what they wanted.

Vivi, you're so right. The kidnappings prevalent in South America are usually by political or rebel groups targetiung high profile families for money. So the assumption Alex and the expert is that someone will call and be giving the dollar amount, time line, etc.
I guess the question becomes do Dr. Demento and MJ's sorry excuse for a mother make this look like a real kidnapping to stall for time. If they don't, what will Alex do when they don't hear anything? MJ is the heroine in this TN, so we know she won't be killed off or hurt in any way to prevent the happy ending, so I guess we have to be patient to see who becomes the hero and how she gets home.

I was impressed both with Fer and Roberto in this episode as well. Vic had just told Fer to take a hike, and yes he's Alex's best friend, but he didn't really have to stay with the family and be a support for everyone, especially his amor.
Roberto, the man is stabbed by his lunatic wife, and he still is the one standing there calming and comforting her as she screams to Alex. Look forward to how else he turns his life around.

So I'm sure we will have to go through some Pedro finding out MJ is kidnapped scenes. Bummer. Hope this plays out soon, like in a manner of a few days only.Really want to get rid of Dr. D and Elena.
 

In a REAL investigation, Bruno, Maura, Elena Dr. Jorge have left plenty of clues, #1, cell phone calls. Dr Jorge probably rented the helicopter & can his goons keep quiet. Maybe investigador John is smart enough to ck all this out.

Not sure what they plan for MJ. Just a Sandra stand in for the dinero or some bizarre medical (Mengele) thing.
They say MJ will be very wealthy, yeah right, they are going to let her keep any of the money.

Not sure the Mex cárcels have enough room for all of these people, some have to die.

I just wanted to hold & console pobrecito Alex. I continue to be astonished by his acting abilities.
When he was chosen for this TN, people said he was good to look at but lacked acting skills, I believe they have changed their minds.

We can't complain about the subtitles, there were none.
 

Elna, yeh I think Alex was throwing some of the anger out of his system with Maura. He wasn't too suspicious.

Anon, LOL, love the list! Especially the first and most obvious one. Don't forget when Bruno answers a phone call, jots down a number, and says don't tell Alex, he is up to no good.

As of this point, there is no reason to believe that Bruno is innocent. He's acting like he cares about the entire situation, which is definetely a clue as well. (anon, when Bruno acts human, he is up to no good).

Before Alex came, was the detective suggesting that he (Alex) could've been involved in the kidnapping? Maybe I wasn't paying too much attention, but I thought I heard something like that.

DaisyNjay, ITA WL blew me away with that scene as well. Man, how many times can I compliment that guy for having amazing looks and talent.

LV, Paula was definetely more in control than Alex was. She needs to keep on insisting that Bruno is involved. Get that thought glued to everyone's mind. I hate when someone is fighting with Bruno and screaming their lungs out about their suspicions, and the only thing Victoria makes of it is something like enough! stop fighting, we have a crisis. He is the crisis!

I think when the investigator came and started asking questions, Bruno made it sound like Alex was shifty- not being around when the kidnapping happened and now being in jail. It was natural that the investigator had some suspicions about Alex- the way Bruno was making it sound. Luckilly, Fer was there to straighten things out quickly and keep Bruno on a leash!

I also love how Fernando kinda took charge while Alex was absent. You can see how it got on Bruno's last nerves. He really thinks everyone would trust him, which is a huge misconception. They don't see his involvement in the kidnapping, but they definetely know he is not the most trustworthy guy in the world. They certainly don't want him to be the on talking to the investigators because deep down inside (and on the surface for most of them), they know he has bad intentions.
 

Lisette promised Maura she wouldn't open her mouth and as soon as Maura left the room Lisette picked up the cell phone and called Katia. I wonder how much she told Katia before being taken to the hospital?

We need somebody to put on their thinking cap (Felipa? Paula? Chucho? Gabriel? Roberto? Fernando? John Seagal?) and start suspecting Maura and/or Bruno. If the kidnappers snatched MJ because of the Lombardo money, why wouldn't they also snatch MAURA since she supposedly also has so much money? How would these kidnappers know where MJ was supposed to be without Maura's involvement because it's not like anyone knew MJ was going to be looking at houses that day. It's not like Century 21 Merida was hosting an open house that day. I think John Seagal might have an inkling that Maura could be involved by the way she flipped her hair away from her bruise.

I think Roberto's going to reveal he saw a "body" being transported at Dr. Evil's house. And I think some kind of way Porfiro and Tio Abuelo will be involved.

I wonder who Porfiro will leave his money to when/if he finds out the truth?

Cielo de Levy i know a lot of people knocked William some for his crying in CCEA but that novela i believe is what has put him in a position to take his acting career to the next level.

To me it was the way JM was written i think a lot people either overlooked or missed some of his best scenes in CCEA.

So the way he is acting in this one i am not surprised at all,i'm just so happy others are seeing William's growth as a actor.

Now i'm depressed that we only have about 23 more episodes of him.

As soon as Maura got off the phone with Bruno she warned Lissette to keep her mouth shut about the phone call don't tell anyone.

Once she left and Lissette called up Katia i really hope she told little big mouth everything.

Bruno has no more use for her his objective now is to get MJ, he so wants to hurt Alex in the worst way possible.

You saw how he was lurking in the background when Alex was told the news, what a truly psychotic person he is.

Anon, I am so with you! WL did less anger scenes in Cuidado, but the few that he did were just as good as these in sortilegio. He had a pretty good breakdown scene in Cuidado as well when he found out how bad Mari's eye problem was. He cried a lot in it, but what is expected of the guy who's separated from the woman he loves for like 150 episodes.

I am watching the show again and he is just too cute in it. I think it really did give him what he needed for his career. That show is muy cerca de mi, and I'll always have a soft spot for it.
 

I said this before about Lissette she was the first one who told Maura to let Alex go and move on. Maura refuse to accept what she was saying.

That's when she threaten her own sister by saying she in control of the money. I hope Lissette health crisis will make Lissette see there's more to life than laying around and scheming.

Doing nothing but talking about people who you are think lesser than you and cooking up plots to destroy their lives.

Maite as MC cried almost as much too and once again it was the writers who had two perfect actors with out of this world chemistry.

How in the world do you write a storyline that keeps them apart for that long. Simply annoying and made no sense.

I have to hope and pray that this kidnapping won't last more than a week.Since the stranded on the deserted island lasted what was it four episodes.

We don't have that much novela left so let's hope we're not torture for long with this plot.

I am with you Anon...I hope Maura gets a new perspective on life. I was thinking last night, the first thing you do is ask God to help especially in the TN's. Anyway, how can she possibly when her own behavior has been so vile. This has to be her turning point. Let's all hope she redeeems herself.

I was shouting at the tv (despite hubby's smirk) when Lissette ran to the phone after promising to keep quiet. Tonta! Anyway you know Katia is going to run to Bruno and tell him everything that Lisette said...which totally makes Maura a target. She may be the only one who can help.

I couldn't understand a word they - Elaina and dr. frankenstein said about keeping MJ drugged and planting false memories. I thought they might have been discussing how long it could work?

It was a difficult episode to watch; I agree. Thanks for the great recap. The only comic relief was to see Rafael from ENDA race in as the security co. agent. I don't think he even had time to change his clothes from the ENDA set.

About the kidnapping. All the comments were spot on. Bruno IS aware that it will be suspicious if a ransom call does not come in, so he's on the phone at the end with Dr. Mexican Mengele about making a call and either tells DMM to make an untraceable call or DMM says he will.

The projected future for MJ in DMM's hands are that she will have to keep being given those drugs the rest of her life to keep her memory from returning. Bad Mama wants to know if she will ever remember her past and with this kind of amnesia, will she have to learn to eat, walk, talk, etc. (I'm sure she is not looking forward to raising another child). DMM says no, only her memory about things in the past will be wiped clean (I'm paraphrasing here, it's the jist of what I got).

And Anon: I really agree about the thinking caps. Maura (or someone close to her) almost had to be involved in the set-up for MJ's capture.

I want Porfirio to leave his money to Paula. Paula would be good to an old man, her spunk and chatter might just be refreshing and maybe Profirio wouldn't be dying if he did not have Jorge for a doctor.

Jorge told Elena that since MJ would remember nothing of events (although she would remember how to eat, bathe, talk, etc.) it was up to Elena to construct a past that worked to their advantage, and just keep reminding MJ (who she'll call Sandra) about various things. Scary.

I think the kidnapping expert is pretty sharp. When he went to question Maura, Maura quickly glanced at Bruno, and the expert may have noticed this. He may figure out that something is fishy with this kidnapping.

Bruno told Jorge to wait a week before calling in (as the kidnapper), and to be very careful he cannot be traced, and as to what he says. Bruno's trying to drag things out. Jorge said he'll consider this advice, and decide on his own what to do.

I agree that although Roberto didn't know the body being brought in way MJ, he'll remember a body was brought in, and that'll help.

What a gripping episode! I thought this was one of the most exciting episodes they've had in this show, I couldn't take my eyes from the screen. Tremendous acting, too, especially William Levy.

You, Vivi and Newbie in MD all have the most amazing memories for detail! Great call on the glances that passed between Maura and Bruno.I saw that too, and had hopes that the investigator caught this little interaction.

Wm Levy is heartrending in this state. I don't know from where he is pulling this emotion but Wow! he knocked my socks off.

I liked Fernando in this episode but Gabriel Soto needs to go to whatever acting classes Levy has been attending. I have liked Soto ever since the Island (I am shallow like that) but I want to send him one of the affect charts we used in school to help folks name emotions they couldn't quite get a grip on. For example, "if someone's eyebrows are up it can indicate surprise or interest".
 

Looks can only get you so far, that's why my first TN (CCEA) held me captive... WL's the one and only reason... looks, talent,etc etc

I had to look away during the replay of the kidnapping scene. OMG William Levy better win an award for his riveting performance. When Alex lost it when he found out about the kidnapping, I was wiping my eyes while taking deep breaths. WL's acting blew me away. So Lisette has Leukemia. I wonder if this is a plot to somehow redeem Maura. So I'm speculating if the plan is to gaslight MJ into believing she's Sandra? Or is the evil doctor going to use her as a guinea pig and use his drug to erase her memory? I'm so sick of Bruno. Too bad Roberto just missed the evil twosome wheeling MJ in to the lab. Hope Alex starts to realize that Bruno is up to his eyeballs involved with the kidnapping.

Serendipity i don't believe Maura can be redeemed either, the comment i made earlier was for Lissette. She acting like a little Maura in training.

Maura has run around even knowing her little was sick, she was more concern about how to get Alex back.

She is vile doesn't regret the Mario Aguirre plot, only confessed because Bruno would have blackmailed her.

Despite the fact she turn down Elena and Dr.Demented she still helped anyway once Bruno convinced her she would be getting Alex back.

Now after seeing Alex's heartbreak over MJ does anyone in their right mind think that will happen.

Dr. Evil really doesn't need Bruno anymore. He's more dangerous to Bruno (and Maura) than the other way around:

Bruno can't really implicate Dr. Evil without implicating himself. Even if Bruno said "Dr. & Senora Evil in Toluca took MJ" and the Toluca police checked it out, they could just say MJ was Sandra. And everyone "knows" what "Sandra" looks like and that Dr. & Senora Evil have a daughter named Sandra and I'm sure Elena has pictures of Sandra from childhood.

And how the heck would BRUNO know about what Dr. & Mrs. Evil in TOLUCA do unless he was involved, too?

Maura is the most vulnerable because Katia, Fernando and Alex know that she's been talking to Elena. Bruno can and will throw Maura under the bus. Plus, Felipa saw MJ get in the car with Maura.

Hello Everyone!

I highly recommend a novela/stalker lunch, and I must admit I enjoyed the surprised looks when I told various friends and family that I was having lunch with "someone I met on the Internet"! We had a blast and I can assure you that we were the only ones in our meat and three who were taking about telenovelas!!

EJ, from time we get to SF, if we go again....we'll have a stalker lunch somewhere in your vicinity.....in a public "safe" place of course!! The good news is that now Doris and I can vouch for each other!!

Two things...no way to describe the horror of Alex/WL's reaction to the kidnaping of MJ. Suffice to say that, after Sorti,rather than finish the evening in "my TV" room as I usually do, I headed down stairs to watch "I Shouldn't be Alive" with mi esposo. I was that rattled, no peaceful sleeping or reading for me..... an INCREDIBLE job by WL. Also, did I seen a little humanity in Bruno when he asked Jorge if MJ was OK? I thought I saw a flicker of concern in his eyes. Of course, it is way to late for redemption for him....

elnajune - You and I have more in common than you would believe. And my DH loves to read all sorts of cerebral books (yaaawwwwwnnnn) while I prefer the likes of Janet Evanovich and Marian Keyes. I tell people I provide the comic relief in this marriage.

I've met other people I know from the internet --- quilter forums --- when I have been on a trip in their cities and it's always very nice. We always meet in a public place. I told DH there would be plenty of witnesses. One can't be too careful.
 

When Maura told Lisette to keep her mouth shut, had she told her the WHOLE story, that she was involved in the kidnapping plot with Bruno?

Doris and Sandy~~~That's so great that you two were able to meet in person. I frequent another site dedicated to the show Highlander: The TV Series. One of the posters lived about half an hour from me. They arranged a ''clan meeting'' at her house , and I decided to go because I thought in would be interesting to meet some of these women whom I had exchanged so many comments with . My hub was okay with it, but my teenage daughters were against it. It was so much fun meeting and finally having faces to attach to screen names. For some reason , no one could believe that I was ''stevi.'' I guess my screen personality did not match my appearance. We met again at this person's house and another time we met for lunch and the Highlander movie ''Endgame.'' People on that forum got very close. Two of the women I met passed away. One had cancer when we met and died a few years later. The other was an older women who was very active on the forum. Her posts started to look strange. We thought that she was kidding around. Then , we found out that she had a brain tumor which caused the odd posts. Very sad. She was a very wise person, and we always discussed life , family, and friends more that Highlander. I still think about her. Some of the women have met for several mini vacations in Williamsburg, Los Vegas, Paris, etc. I haven't gone to any of those places.
 

Elna that sounds really fun!...but I go back to school soon, and even if I weren't I think the parents would be totally uncool with me doing so. LOL, my mom is an Indian version of Alex. Very suspicious. Darn, you would think 18 is old enough to decide what you're allowed to do.

Nonetheless, if you and Novelera are going to meet up, let me know where and when, and I will definetely try!

Let me add, I think the possibilty my parents would say yes is 50%, which isn't too bad. If I can get them to 60%, then that would mean they aren't perfectly okay with it, but I won't be in trouble if I go anyways. That's what I figure, but I'm not always right at guessing what they'll decide.
 

Twenty minutes into this Thursday, January 14, 2010 cápitulo (when Alex and Ez are still in jail), my satellite went out.

So, if ever I needed a recap, it was today. But, alas, I’m out to lunch; there is none. I think this is the first chapter for which that is the case. But needless to say, computers fail

Anyway, thanks to your comments, I do get the drift de lo que pasó. And from what you nice people say, I, missed out on one of the best chapters thus far. A bunch of you mention some super acting by William Levy when he learns MJ was kidnaped. To have missed that...ugh!

susanlynn - Wow, what a great story about your Highlander group. My quilt board group has gotten together a few times, over the years. I flew up to Canada for one of the get-togethers, a few years ago.. I still keep in touch with some of them, too.
 

Frankie - Alex's meltdown was at the end of the show, so I think a lot will be repeated tonight.
 

Aww Frankie, that sucks! I hate when bad things happen last minute...Alex's breakdown scene is on youtube, or at least it was this morning in case you wanted to see.

I feel like for Bruno it's just about having MJ back. I don't know if he plans on rubbing it in Alex's face, but I think he'll have pleasure in knowing that Alex is heart broken. It's an ego issue.
