Sortilegio January 28, 2010 Some Promises are Meant to be Broken.

From Tuesday:
SMJ waits at the arboretum for NicholAlex who never shows. She gets tired of waiting and leaves.

Alex and Pedro and Paula are in the hospital. The death cert will be in Sandra’s real name. Pedro thinks they should tell Elena but Paula doesn’t think she needs to know anything about it. Alex wants to know whether he wants a burial or a cremation. He just doesn’t know. He just doesn’t understand. As always, he is leaving it to Alex.

Today:
SMJ is back at home moping at the table. Elena walks up and wants to know what the problem is because she returned so early. She says he never arrived. She waited an hour and then left. Elena says the dreaded words “I told you so.” She says that that kind of man is only looking for an adventure while they are on vacation. SMJ gets up and walks away. Elena looks pleased with herself. Heifer!

Porfirio is talking to Tio. He says he doesn’t feel good. He tells Tio that SMJ has a young man that she is excited about. His name is Nicholas. Tio thinks it’s good that she is excited about somebody. Porfirio says who knows. He’s worried that she won’t find a husband. Tio asks what about the other guy. Porfirio says he has not met him either. Oh, by the way Jorge told me that your nephew is going out with someone older. Tio wants to know how he knows. Porfirio says he has no idea. Tio says something and Porfirio is trying to remember the name of Bruno’s company. Tio knows what he is talking about and says that company doesn’t even exist. Porfirio perks up at that. Tio says that Fernando talked to him about it the other day and they discovered that there is no such company. Hmm… Tio tells him to forget about marrying off his granddaughter. Just relax. Por says he feels worse and worse. He knows he’s going to die. He wants to protect his granddaughter and be sure that she will be all right. Tio says it would be better if he left his money to the dogs. They toast.

Elena is talking to Jorge. She wants to know what happened with Sandra. He doesn’t give a rat’s a$$ about what happened to her. Is she dead? Probably. She doesn’t seem too upset. She wants to know what they are going to do with Useless but the birds are too loud for me to hear. Elena says something and Dr. E-vil says I’ve told you a thousand times I’m a doctor not a murderer. R i g h t—you just keep on telling yourself that. Elena thinks something could be a danger to them. It is the same danger that can implicate Bruno Lombardo. Elena is worried about what will happen when Useless wakes up. Dr. E-vil thinks he will be giving thanks that he is still alive.

Alex arrives with Pedro and Paula at the house carrying the box of Sandra’s ashes. Ez tells them how sad he is. They thank him for his words. Vicky and Felipa greet Pedro and tell him how sad they are for him. FF>>

Alex, who just can’t take it any more, says he’s going to go up and see his son. Pedro will be taken back to his house. Thank God. There’s Tiny Tony in his little blue jammies sleeping, well, like a baby. Alex reaches over and scares the crap out of the poor little guy. What a cutie. Baby talk. Your Mami will be back soon. Tony drops his binky.

Back at the Rancho, SMJ is painting. Surprise, she paints a picture of a little boy. “Why did I paint a boy? she thinks to herself. She doesn’t know why. Just then Elena walks up. She’s just like a bad habit that you can’t get rid of. SMJ asks her if she had a baby while she was in Spain. Of course not, why? I just painted this boy. Elena looks troubled.

Elena tells Jorge she thinks SMJ is starting to get her memory back. He doesn’t seem too concerned about it. He says something about the clinic. (I have the hardest time understanding him.)

Paula and Pedro are walking down the stairs. How is MJ doing? She’s good but doesn’t remember anything. They give Pedro a ride back to his house. Paula tells him to be calm. FF>>

Bruno spies SMJ sitting on the wall. I’m back says Captain Obvious. What’s going on? Nothing she says. Abuelo wants to meet you. Well, let’s get a move on then. He helps her down. He is impressed with Porfirio’s house. He has a lot of money. Wait for me in the living room. Of course. She goes off to find Abuelo. He looks around counting money in his head.

Back and Lombardo Alex is pleased that Roberto was hired. Robertoo assures Alex that he will not fail him. Roberto has some business stuff to do and invites Alex to go with him. But of course he can’t, he has to get back Toluca. They start to have a conversation but Moora barges in and gives him a big hug. Oh, the place was just not the same without you. Whatever! She asks how MJ is doing. He says they are waiting for her to wake up. The heifer has the nerve to tell him that she’s in a coma, there’s no reason to suffer. He gives her the major stink-eye and says he’s got stuff to do and walks past her. As soon as he’s out the door Roberto lays into her. He doesn’t believe that she has any feelings for MJ and she needs to just knock it off. He’s got her number that’s for sure.

Back at Porfirio’s. SMJ and Abuelo enter the living room. Bruno introduces himself and offers his hand. Porfirio pointedly does not shake it. Uh oh, this doesn’t look good—for Bruno anyway. Porfirio tells him that his business is a sham and doesn’t exist. SMJ looks startled. Bruno says in effect it doesn’t exist. He was invited to participate but it turned out to be a fraud. You know, we all hate him but he is good at thinking on his feet. Gramps still doesn’t look satisfied. He says something about Bruno being stupid. He wants to know where Bruno comes from and what other business does he have. Bruno says he’s from Merida and that he has investments. What kind of investments? You go Porfirio! SMJ wants him to lighten up but of course he’s not going to. He just wants to know what this guy is up to. I sure don’t blame him there. She says we aren’t even novios. Bruno says of course we are (and where have we heard those words before?) Not until I remember. He says we’ve been together a long time. She says of course I’m going to wait. You go girl. Porfirio wants to meet the other guy before he makes any decisions. Bruno wants to know what other guy? Uh oh. Good job gramps. Porfirio stomps off and SMJ and Bruno get up to leave. He grabs her arm and roughly turns her around. The way he grabbed her arm should have been a warning right there. If he grabbed her like that once, he’ll do it again. He wants to know what the hell is going on. She says she met this guy and his sister and they went to take pictures and to eat some pizza. He says you made promises to me. Uh, no she didn’t. You’re trying to con her out of her pants, you filthy pig.

They head back to the house where Elena is working in the garden. SMJ doesn’t stop but heads inside the house. Elena corners Bruno and wants to know what happened. He told her that Porfirio said he wanted to meet this “other guy” that SMJ was seeing and he was asking a lot of questions. He’s just some guy that is here on vacation. He was supposed to meet her but he never showed up. He grabs her arm too. She walks past him and says something that I don’t understand.

The three stooges are in Dr. E-vil’s office. Jorge gives Bruno a med report on Porfirio. He’s got 2 months. Now they want Bruno to marry SMJ and tell her that she can get divorced later. You have to be very convincing. She has to think we want to help her.

Arturo is keeping his eye on SMJ.

Victoria, Alex and Fernando are having a pow wow. Vicky doesn’t understand how they are going to help MJ if she doesn’t’ remember. Alex thinks she will remember once she sees her son. Just then Arturo calls to tell Alex that Bruno has left the building. Alex is pleased and says he has to go. Fernando wants to go with him. Alex wants him to stay in Merida and keep an eye on things there.
Victoria wants to know what is going on. Felipa believes that MJ loves Alex and and that love won’t let her forget.

Bruno is on the phone talking to Maura. I thought you were going to help. He worries about Katia. Maura calls Mateo. She wants him to come to a party at her house. She needs help with something. That doesn’t sound good. She pours herself a drink. The doorbell rings and it is Katia with her lollipop. Oh, what a surprise, I was just thinking about you. Katia is pouting because she hasn’t heard from Bruno. She tells Katia to forget about Bruno. Maura’s having a party does she want to come. Well, let me think? Sit around Fernando’s house doing nothing or come to a party. Ok. I’ll be there. There is nothing better than a lollipop and alcohol. Yum yum. FF>>

Alex and Paula are heading back to Toluca in the helicopter.

Elena wants to know what is going on with Damian. She says nothing. We don’t have a relationship. I don’t feel anything for him. I get the feeling that we never had a relationship. Elena thinks it could be the medicine. Oh, you think? Elena thinks she needs to change so she can go to dinner with Bruno. (Hey, you like him so much why don’t you go out with him?)

Porfirio is taking his meds and talking to Tio. He fills him in on how the meeting with Bruno went. He doesn’t want her to marry someone that is stupid. Tio homes in on the info that Bruno is from Merida. I’m going to see Fernando for his birthday. I’ll do a little investigation while I am there. Porfirio is down with that.

Fernando comes in to see how Vicky is doing. She’s worried about what is going on. He has good news. Tomorrow is his birthday. Vicky asks him what he wants for a gift? Now really, does a woman really have to ask that question? Come on ladies, you know what I’m saying. He’ll get a place where they can be alone. They sneak upstairs. There is some smoochie, smoochie action in the hallway. EZ looks on a little surprised but he is tickled pink. He is happy that finally his dona is getting some. Felipa comes out with a tray. Ez stops her and wants to know what is going on with those two. Like you can’t figure it out. He does a little happy dance kind of like my dogs do when I ask them if they want to E-A-T.

Bruno and SMJ are having dinner. He keeps going on about Nicholas. He’s not my boyfriend. He’s the brother of my new friend. He says she is free to do what she wants. He gives her the medical report of Porfirio. He says that he wants her Abuelo to die in peace knowing that she is taken care of. I’d better get my waders out because the BS is getting pretty deep in here.

Alex and Paula meet up with Arturo. He says Bruno and MJ went to Toluca to have dinner. NicholAlex runs off to find her. Paula tries to stop him but Arturo says he is in love and to let him be.

Bruno is still trying to convince SMJ to marry him and then get divorced later. She is upset. I love you. She is crying. He wants to protect her money—uh, I mean her. He asks her to think about it.

Alex shows up at the Ranch trying to figure out what to do. He gets back in the car. If Bruno sees him you know the sh!! Is going to hit the fan. She doesn’t want dessert. She is sad for Abuelo. It is a good plan but she says no. Thank God! She doesn’t want to think about it. He looks pissed.

Alex is wandering around in the dark waiting for Bruno and SMJ. They kiss and he is not happy. She pulls away. He starts to charge but thinks better of it. I feel a serious beat-down for Bruno coming on in the near future. Alex leaves and goes back to the cabin. Paula wants to know if he found them. He is not happy. He calls Mari. He wants her to have the helicopter waiting in Toluca in the morning and she is not to tell anybody. Paula is stoked thinking they are going home. Alex says yes. It sounds like THE PLAN has changed.

Elena and Jorge want to know what happened with Bruno. He tells them she’s not falling for it. Jorge thinks he needs to convince her. It sounds like he insults his manhood. Bruno looks offended.

Outside Alex is sneaking around in the bushes. He’s looking for SMJ’s room. He finds her and stands and looks at her for a minute and reaches to take the pills but knocks them off and the table and SMJ stirs. She wakes up with a jolt and looks around but no one is there. Oh, wait, he’s hiding on the floor. Dude you were almost so busted. He says very soon, my love, very soon.

Fernando is at home and there is someone at the door. Surprise! It’s Tio. He’s come as a surprise for his birthday. He even brought him a gift. Katia comes down all dressed for the party. She is glad to see Tio. Tio says that if Fernando has other plans with his friends, he totally understands. Fernando wants to know where Katia is off to and she says she’s going to a party. He doesn’t look very happy about it. Tio asks him if the mother of his friend is his novia. He says yes. Tio doesn’t want to impose. Fernando says don’t worry about it, it will be ok. Tio is happy for him.

Katia is at the party. She’s drunk and Mateo is already sliming on her. It’s official—there is NO REDEMPTION for Maura. Mateo sneaks Katia outside with more drinks. I think we all know where this is headed. I know we don’t like Katia but nobody deserves what they are planning for her.

Good morning everyone. It's late and I'm really tired so I'll add a title tomorrow. I wanted to get it up as soon as possible for you though. Feel free to add anything I might have missed. Can someone tag it for me please. Thank you. See you in the a.m.

i want to play!!! somehow I had missed the icky fact that dr demento has ulises, sedated, in the back room of his clinic, maybe stacked up with other not-corpses who got in his way. I tagged you. Thank for the recap!

Connie- Thanks for the great recap and the fun game suggestion! I think you need to patent it before someone else does. ;)

The only points I would say it's important to add is that now that Bramian has failed miserably to woo SaMJ, Dr. Demented thinks it's time to put her under again and give her another dose of the treatment to make her more maliable. Uh oh! Luckily, it seems that Alex is fed up with waiting around for her to remember, and is just going to take her. I'm ok with that now, given what's about to happen to her in Dr. Demento's clutches.

And Maura specifically asked Mateo to bring date rape drugs to the party, which it seems he put in Katia's drink. That's why she seemed so drunk and friendly on just the one drink he was such a "gentleman" to bring her. Any woman who does that to another woman is just vile! Maura has lost any shred of understanding or sympathy I ever had for her with the Alex situation.

Thanks, Connie. I agree with Vivi. Maura is now doomed. She has fallen down that slippery slope , and a great big old anvil with her name on it is directly above her pretty head. Adios, Maura. You'll be on the first train to Hades with DamedBruno. You're hot now, but, you'll be really hot there. From the previews, it looked as if Al took Sandyjo back to Casa Grande, but Elena and DamB showed up to retrieve her. Can't wait for the showdown tonight. P.S. EZ seems to be living vicariously through Vicky as he watched Fer heading up the stairs with her.

Thanks for filling that in Vivi. I knew he said something about the clinic. I have such a hard time understanding The Good Doctor for some reason. If we were on the fence about Elena I don't think we need to be any more. She is so vile. Pimping out SMJ to Bruno and subjecting her to more tests--just awful.

I thought this was kind of a ho-hum episode. Not much to get excited about but necessary to advance the plot. I was going to add vocab but my book was at work. So here is a little vocab from "Breakin Out of Beginner Spanish":

Asi que--so
A ver--Let's see
por eso--that's why

Hysterical recap Connie. I want one of those games. You'll save my TV from any future frustration at these insane characters.

Bit of a stall in the action part of things, but I did enjoy abuelo's little smackdown of Bruno. Thought the old guy was going to be a push-over, eh Bruno? What amazes me is that the Three Musketeers just think marrying Sandra off to Bruno in a hurry will meet the requirements to get their money? If gramps can't stand the guy, don't they think he could still pull the rug out from under them? Dense.

Could EZ have been funnier? I cracked up when they showed him lurking and how excited he was. So cute...dirty little old man. And kudos to Vic for not playing the coy, oh me and my poor kiddies, and just get down and enjoy your dude girl. ( Am I wrong in saying I'm glad they didn't show any more than the kisses on the stairs?)

I cannot even fathom Maura's thinking. I don't like Katia, but there is a line. What woman would do that to another? No, Maura's headed to the black hole of Brunoville. Whatever she gets, she deserves and then some.

Alex...poor guy. That bedroom scene was a bit much though. She wakes up with a start and 10 seconds later he's mumbling under his breath and she doesn't hear. PLEASE tell me how to fall asleep like that! I know it was supposed to be a TN moment, but gees, maybe a little more realistic?

Let's see some of those smackdowns they keep highlighting!! Viewerville has some major pent up emotion that needs to be satisfied.

Connie,

From “Captain Obvious” right down to the “Whack-an-A-hole”, hilarious through and through!!! I’ll be calling 1-800-IMN-AHOL, because I want to “smack ‘em, whack ‘em, and stack’em.”

It looked like baby Tony in the crib was younger than the baby Tony that Alex picked up.
The Tony in the crib looked about 2/3 months and presto, as Alex picked him up he turned 4/5 months! Wow is all I can say.

I officially think Maura has surpassed Bruno as the most evil of all the characters in Sorti. Setting up a childhood friend for a “rape/sexual encounter” is unfathomable and extremely chilling. When we met Maura, she was flirty and determined to have Alex, annoying, not lethal. The Mario Aguirre thing was a silly, mean prank. Now she has crossed the Rubicon, she is Barbara of MEPS and look what happened to Babs!!

I’m glad Alex has the good sense to get SMJ the heck out of Dodge, more electrical shocks, no thanks!!! I’d never thought think I’d say this but the Loco Lombardo House of Many Colors is looking good compared to Mengale Mansion.

What would be a fitting punishment for Maura? She did play a part in the kidnapping sort of and now she knowingingly is assisting in a "date rape." Jail time maybe?

Sort of play a part in the kidnapping? She was part of the planning for it, even before Bruno, she lured MJ to the place it happened, and she pointed the kidnappers to the victim. Sure, she hemmed and hawed about it, but she's up to her eyeballs in that kidnapping.

Yes, Vivi you are correct. I had forgotten that she met with Dr. and Mrs. Evil in the first place.

Connie: Personally, at this point, nothing is too bad for Maura. But TN's seem to kill off the evil men and leave other fates for the women. So Dr.D and Bruno will get offed most likely, and Maura and La Loca...lock them up and throw away the key making them live without the luxuries they craved. They'll both look smashing in boring brown.

Connie, great recap. ITA with you re. a humdrum but necessary episode to advance the plot -- but your recap made it fun!

So, so glad Roberto called Maura on her comment to Alex and glad Alex gave her the stink eye only she didn't seem to notice.

Loved how Arturo calmly told Paula Alex wasn't crazy just a man in love!
CubsFan

Connie thanks for the recap and hilarious game of whack-a -a-hole.

What woman in her right mind would ever fall for Bruno even if they have been drug induced. He just exudes slimeball and liar at all times.

Did anyone see how when he was confronted by Porfirio about the company that doesn't exist how his eyes started shifting away when he lies. Typical Bruno never able to deal with the truth.

As for Maura i've been saying it about her for the longest time how nasty she is too. She never felt any remorse for the evil Mario Aguirre prank she pulled at all.

Loved the dirty look Alex gave her after her comment he shouldn't suffer because MJ is in a comma. May our hero finally be realizing what a viper she is?

I remember when Bruno offered her a propsal of marriage and thought at the time they were not suited for each other.Well i've changed my mind they deserve each other.

They've been showing that preview of Bruno and Elena at casa Lombardo for several days now i wonder if it will be for tonight's episode.

Did anyone see Mujeres Asesinas2 last night it was good.

Thanks for the funniest recap ever, Connie. Loved the game promo and LOL at your description of Alex and baby Tony. Alex DID scare the crap out of that sleeping cutie.

Did Alex actually manage to take a couple pills from MJ/S's nightstand? I couldn't tell. Should be good tonight.

Connie:

First things first—you were inspired! What a recap.

I want to play Whack-a. I'll be one of your first fifty callers so that I can get the in-home version as well. The Pedro and Elena heads are gonna get their paint worn off.

Protest warning

I can’t abide Katia, but what is with the writers using the threat of rape as a plot device? This is REALLY unacceptable. IPROTESTIPROTESTIPROTEST!

EJ

I thought Alex did take some pills with to see what they have been giving MJ.

Also i think Alex is fed up with waiting now that Bruno is back in Merida, so glad he told Mari to fire up the Helicopter and have it down in Toluca.

Alex you dont have to keep telling Mari to keep your business a secret, besides from the fact she is the epitome of a professional executive secretary. After the way Maura talked to her over the phone call from Elena i do not believe Mari would even give her the slightest inkling of where you're at or uo too at all.

OK, EJ here. The closing scenes with Katia left me so cranky that I can barely report for Aunt EJ's Thursday epi wardrobe patrol, but somebody’s got to do it.

1 Maura the malicious looks great in those dumb bubble dresses. Katia, not so much.

2. Mateo appears to have gone prematurely gray due to his evil deeds.

3. SandraJo’s outfit has too many …parts. Lose the vest, or the boots, or the scarf. Trust me, SamJ. You’re great looking without all those pieces.

4. The in-between-the-scene shot of David Zepeda was very sweet, except for the pink striped scarf.

5. Alex looked a little the worse for wear today. Ale you may want to shave and take a nap before you ride in on your white horse (or is it a helicopter) to rescue SaMJ.

I'm not thrilled with that plot device either. I'm keeping my hopes up that she will be rescued by somebody before the deed is done. It reminds me of the Aurora/Camillo situation in MEPS.

Connie:

I can only offer the following wish for our Malicious Miss M—

Maura, I sentence you to many lifetimes in the hungry ghost hell, where you will be constantly tortured by longing for things you cannot have.

Connie, it's not as creative as gasoline underpants, but I try.

EJ, off to work...

Don't worry EJ, they come in her size too. Maybe I should sell them on Ebay!

Wonderful recap Connie. Hope you got that rest you needed. Being late and tired doesn't seem to put a crimp in your style...

Elna June...Loved the wardrobe comments. All right on target. I too thought Zepeda looked nice during the in-between. The human mind is a perplexing thing. In this novela her completely repulses me...physically and intellectually. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that I would find him completely attractive and desirable if he were playing the trustworthy protagonist. Mind boggling.

daisynjay...I chuckled and was so happy to see EZ overjoyed for Victoria. I am glad EZ and us viewers were spared any hot and heavy action...whew. I too, loved Victoria's new found confidence in the relationship and ability to let Nando know she needed him too. Go Get It Girl!!!

What a recap! I especially liked the ad at the end. Super creative, super funny!

It's not that important now that it seems that Alex is going to bring SMJ back, but I think Jorge said they might wake up Ulises to try to seduce SMJ if Bruno didn't work out.

It's so typical of the bad guys that they thought SMJ would agree to marry DamBruno and later divorce him, just to make her dear old abuelo happy, but they forgot that she'd never do anything dishonest. Didn't occur to them.

BTW, why can't Porfilio just set up a spendthrift trust for Sandra, not attachable by creditors, with a bank as trustee? Why does she have to be married and have a suitable husband to help her manage the money? Seems a little old-fashioned to me.

Now that Tio Emiliano is in Merida, more and more things should come out, and he may figure out that Damian is Bruno.

This show is really getting good now.

Great recap, Connie!!!

Was Lizzette still in the hospital!!! How in the world was Maura able to have a party with her sister sick and so down hearted??? She really is an evil woman...

PS: Connie, what is the photo you show in your comments???

Ann-NYC

Ann, that is my dog Rain holding one of her favorite toys--her drinking bowl. I would fill it with water and she would get it in her mouth and flip it all over the kitchen and then take it to the top of the stairs and drop it and watch it bounce down the stairs. I gave up and gave it to her as a toy. She ate most of it and I finally had to throw it away. Pits have extremely strong jaws. She also eats PVC pipe, well, really just about anything.

Thanks Connie for clearing that up. I can make out his eyes and the dish he has in his mouth. He's a pretty clever dog...

Ann-NYC

Anon, You have had Maura's number right along!! I had hoped because I saw confusion and sadness in her eyes, she might stop before she got in over her head!! But no...

It was funny when Vicky was so solitious of Pedro as he was crying with the remains of Sandra. Paula was just as sweet as she could be as well. Someone posted earlier that both girls are like those raised in the home of alcoholic or absentee parents...the child becomes the parent and the parent becomes the child. I dont' want gasoline pants for Pedro, maybe just curling iron pants....just a little hot!!

Connie--For an episodio where there aren't any real resolutions, you managed to make it come alive with energy.

I've been away and had to devour all the episodes in caray the first morning back.

I think Porfirio's two month "death sentence" was just made up by the Dr. to help DamBruno get the girl quicker.

As to Elena--There is nothing that can be added to the comments about her. She has no maternal feelings whatsoever. It's an interesting contadiction that she was pushing SaMJ into intimacy with Bruno in a hurry yet in effect tells her she's a golfa to accept NickAle's attentions because she'll just end up going to bed with him. She's a worried lady as things start spinning out of her control.

Yes, Alex took the whole bottle of pills from SaMJ's room. Unfortunately, he probably won't have time to have them analyzed, if the avances are correct. Someone mentioned that the confrontation at the Lombardo's has been repeated at the end of several episodes. I don't remember that happening before in Sortilegio. Maybe the editors want to make sure you keep tuning in, but I consider it false advertising.

In the office scene with Maura, Roberto and Alex, it wasn't enough for her to tell him to "cheer up" because MJ was in a coma, she actually recommended that because she was in a coma, to pull the plug and let her die so he could get on with his life (...with her, naturally). That's what Robert o o called her out on.

Maura's punishment is to be on Asesinas2. I hope she gets life on the inside.
Newbie in Md

Newbie they have been showing the previews i think it was after Tuesady episode with the Alex,Bruno and Elena confrontation at casa Lombardo.

We'll have to see if it airs tonight.

Sandy in Tenn there was always a very subtle maliciousness with Maura that i picked up on and i guess others did not take too seriously about her character.

The way she just kept thinking that MJ was not worthy of someone like Alex and she was the perfect companion for him instead.

The fact she only came clean with Mario Aguirre plot because she did not want to be blackmailed by Bruno. No remorse really that she almost cost MJ her life and their baby.

How she got so desperate that she wanted to start the plot up again once she realized that Alex was not going to leave MJ for her.

Her refusal to listen to good sound advice remember Lissette was the first one who told her to move on and forget Alex. Her response to her baby sister i control the money so you better help me think of a way to split them up.

My goodness what a good big older sister she is isn't she. Then another damning indictment against her, you are like the company you keep.Team Mexitrash most importantly she was best friends with the shrew from hell Raqhell.

Really i don't think she ever took this into consideration, that Alex would want to be tied to a woman who gossip about other people and is nasty and lies about it too.

What ever fate has in store for Maura let's hope it's fitting for the crimes she's committed for prideful snobbery.

Elna June i hear you on the comment about the writers and date rape plot. Once again i will with hold what i really think of this novela until the end.

Lol, Connie! Love the infomercial :) I'm putting in the extra dollar for the live version...can't beat that deal!

Ezequiel's happy dance was priceless...good comparison to the dogs. I don't have dogs, but my cats get that happy around dinner time--the only time their mood shifts from superior disdain.

LOL Whack a A-Hole. So funny. Loved the recap Connie. I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat when Porfirio wouldn't shake Bruno's hand. Loved the look on his face. So it looks at though Alex is ready to end this and take MJ away from there. I hope that Porfirio doesn't die. I like him and his fiestiness. Maura is beyond redemption since we know she's not only guilty for being an accomplice in MJ's kidnapping but now also aiding and abetting to Katia's rape that we know will happen probably tonight. Katia is a brat but she doesn't deserve this. My heart was beating so fast when Alex was in MJ's room. I thought for sure he would be busted and end up lying bedside with Uli in a coma.

At least Alex didn't have to use a rope to climb up the balcony like Juan Reyes! :)

Connie, this was absolutely priceless and great fun. A superb recap!

Since everyone has already posted such interesting comments, I'll only say that I'm horrified at what Maura is doing to Katia and am glad Alex is putting the plan into warp speed and getting MJ out of there.

Newbie- They always start repeating the same scenes for the teasers in final weeks, because they don't want to give too much away. I think we can rely less and less on the advances from this point forward.

Anon, I'm VERY interested in your comments!

I think the writers were a little heavy handed on the Maura/Lisette plot line. Maura was very concerned about her sister's health, enough to undergo a bone marrow transplant, a few days later she blows her off for a rape party! Maura has done enough for a bad death in gasoline pants, lifetime in a hungry ghost hell, or 100 years in a Mexican prison, they didn't have to throw the kitchen sink of evils at her. Also, I think that they have over written Raquel as well!! No one ever said novela or Lifetime Movie characters were nuanced.

Connie~~Good point about Nick/Al not having to climb up to a balcony like Juan. It will be interesting to see what happens to Maura and Elena. Someone commented that in novelas, the bad guys die, but the bad women sometimes have different punishments. Gabi in FELS was buried alive....a horrible way to go. Dona Juana in Alborada drank poison. Babs in MEPS went to jail , and then she survived setting herself on fire and was terribly disfigured. Maybe Maura's fate will involve losing all she holds dear-- her looks, her home, her car, her lifesyle.

Connie thanks for the recap. Your game is great and your snark was fun too.

ITA with EJ regarding rape as a threat in novelas. It needs to stop.

And I'm with everyone else who is horrified that Maura would plan the rape of a supposed friend. I hope it doesn't happen but will anyone be able to prove who was behind it if it does.

Thanks Connie for your very entertaining recap. According to the comments, I'm probably the only one who enjoyed this episode. I thought it was easy to understand. For my enjoyment each and every capitulo don't have to be so action packed and complicated that I have to wait for the recap to sort it all out for me.

I agree with those who announced gratitude that we were spared any intimate scenes between Viki and Fernando. But my reason differs. I like the couple and if there had been any intimacy I would not have read todays comments because they would be filled with negative and repulsive comments.

So, I'm happy to have been spared the negative comments and opinions that was sure to follow.

I don't think that Pedro deserves any punishment. For what?? Because he's emotional? He's been a good father. I have yet to see a novela where there wasn't a lot of tears and emotions. We're judging latino culture by our culture where "a man aint supposed to cry".

Sandy once i again i'm going to hold off on commenting about certain plots and characters because we are near the end and i saw the original Tu O Nadie. Bear with me and wait i'll i hope you'll understand why i holding back because i want to see what happens and alot of what i'm keeping back in my comments includes the original comparison ok.

Lori we don't have a problem with men crying but we do have a problem with a father who relies on his older daughter to be the care taker and mother figure role. Especially since his wife left him high and dry.

We also have a problem with a father who lost his steady employment job as a accountant not having to good sense to think of other alternatives than selling counterfeit black market merchandise.

Plus always acting like he's the victim and he' starts most of the problems by not having any common sense period.

Lori,

I think it is great to have a differing view, I'm glad you've expressed yours... This would be so boring if we all thought the same way!!

I am the one today who has expressed annoyance with Pedro, not because he cries......but because he has lied for years to both his daughters and, as Sandra's father, he made no effort to find her. Could he have made a difference in her life....we don't know, he didn't look. I really don't know enough about "Latino culture" to make judgments about their emotions and I certainly don't think that "a man aint supposed to cry". Men can sit around and cry all day long for all I care!! Who am I to judge?

Connie, great recap as always! Love the way you took off with our Whack a A-hole ideas! The humor is what makes this blog so much fun. And the blog is what makes this TN bearable--I almost dropped out early on. But, glad I stuck around.

Lori, I think viewers are giving Pedro a lot of grief for his lying, which caused a lot of problems earlier. I agree with you about the crying. It is very annoying. I have noticed that Mexican guy actors cry a lot more than their American counterparts. It's too bad we discourage guys from expressing their feelings.

I'm not sure I get the rape plan. What's it going to accomplish? I would think Bruno would either be really nice to Katia or kill her to keep her quiet.

Can't wait for the whacks, smacks, and stacks as this novela comes to a close!

Lori, sorry i forgot to include the lying with Pedro that's why so many of us have a problem with him. ITA also with Sandy.

Great recap, Connie. The "Whack-a" game ad was just hilarious. A great episode for setting up the action to come.
Maura is mistaken in thinking her money, beauty, and charm will protect her from consequences. EZ was a little over the top all excited over Vicki's romantic evening.
La Paloma

hey sorti crew ive been reading the blog again to catch up with sorti. but since perro amor came on telemundo with english subtitles at the same time i havent been watching sorti. can anyone give me a quick recap?

Hey Beth, did you notice our names in the company name?! I told you I would get it all in somehow. I always think of that Sham-Wow guy on late night commercials. He gives me a headache.

Thanks, Connie! This was really one of the funniest things I have ever read! Seriously, I couldn't stop laughing.

Dr. Demented says he is a doctor, not murderer. Yeah, sure...in what way...I guess he technically did give MJ a new life...(?) what kinda contract did he sign?

I too hope Porfirio doesn't die. I love that old guy.

Alex needs to get MJ out of Toluca now. Enough is enough dude. Bruno is testing the wrong guy's patience.

Elna, nice details on the clothes.

Anon and Sandy, ditto on Maura.

Ok, back to reading comments.

Great recap Connie.

I don't understand why is Maura helping with this thing with Katia.

About Pedro's character. I've come to realize that here in México at least (and I wouldn't dare to say in all latin cultures, but I also simmilarities in Colombia): While the man can be macho and the "king" of the home, especially on smaller towns and cities, it is the mother the one that manages to keep the household together, she handles the way the money should be used, how they should invest, which school are the kids going to go, etc. She decides everything while the husband "approves" it and simply goes to work to get the money and comes back to the house be pampered by his wife and play with his children.

Usually when you see a couple divorce the man falls completely apart because he is not used to do things by himself. He had his mother first and then his wife. He is not used to being alone (in smaller cities and even some people in big cities don't leave home until they get married if they are not forced to move for work). The man either remarries, moves in with another woman or moves back with his mother.

Sure, Elena left while MJ was a small child so Pedro should have learned to work and help with the house and all. But we know MJ had some studies and that Paula also studied until high school (maybe?).

Jobs in México are hard to find and I don't think he has any university studies and his age now and for a few years has been an impediment to get work. A minimum wage job is not enough to support one person let alone to support three.

A person in his situation would need to ask his daughters to find a job to sustain the family, and chances are that MJ would make more money than he ever could because of her age, studies and looks.

Anon 4:44, where did you stop watching. I'll give you a short, short rundown.

•MJ was kidnapped by her mother and step father so she could pass as Sandra, her twin sister. The motive: Elena abandoned Pedro, Paula, and MJ long ago for some richer guy but took Sandra because she was sick. Her father in law thought Sandra was his grand daughter and he plans on giving all his wealth to her after his son died. (Elena married Jorge shortly after).

*So Jorge gives MJ some pills, and she loses her memory. Elena and Jorge then convince her that she is Sandra.

*lots of folks involved in the plot. I already mentioned Elena and Jorge. Bruno was involved as well, as he now plans to reconquer MJ. Maura led MJ to the place where she was kidnapped because she's not over Alex. Uliseus was involved initially but is now being kept hostage or something by Jorge because he was asking for too much.

*Sandra was a drug addict who was in a coma. When Jorge was sure she would die, he had her thrown outside Casa Lombardo as MJ.

*Alex and doctor Hernan figured Sandra wasn't MJ because she didn't have a scar on her back. He found out about the truth because Bruno went to the city where Alex knew MJ's mother lived. Once he saw "Sandra"he knew she was actually MJ.

*Now Alex is posing as a photographer and trying to win back MJ as well. After seeing Bruno kiss her, he seems determined to take her back home to Merida.

Missing a lot of details. Feel free to ask questions. :)

Sorry, I meant to explain that MJ and Paula had some studies so Pedro must have taken care of the house and expenses while he could, but as he got older it started to become hearder to do so.

I respect all of your comments regarding Pedro.
And I agree that part of the fun of the board is hearing different opinions on the characters. We had a discussion not too long ago about how many of our feelings and opinions are shaped by factors in our personal lives. I think that may be the reason I think that even though Pedro is a weak man, he is to be pitied rather than punished.

Well I guess I'm convinced that Sandra won't live happily ever after, since she has been reduced to dust particles in a box. ¡Que triste!

Now really, Maura deserves everything that can happen to her. Having someone give date rape drugs to a young girl no matter how much we detest her & slimy Mateo on top of it, uh her.

Lori,

I actually can relate to what you are saying. I don't know if you saw MEPS, but I felt very sympathetic to Aurora, because I felt that I knew what she had gone through during her upbringing. I was in the minority in my thoughts. I appreciate your comment, and thanks for presenting a different viewpoint to our multi-viewpoint forum!!

As Vivi said, they don't really have advances at this point, just more of a general ad for the rest of the show. You'll notice that the ad after the credits says Monday - Friday now instead of Tomorrow.
